I find the amount of shipping discourse in the hotd fandom so funny. I laughed especially hard at the people accusing ships of being problematic because. This is House of the Dragon. The dragons and backstabbing show. i had two UTDR dreams in a row and i think im being haunted by a alternate universe version of these games . anyways it was about a "sans battle fangame" but despite the name it literally had no battles and was not even 2d . it was like a 3d free roam horror game . the only thing i remember at all were the characters which looked like this . quite scary

It's actually kinda sexy of Caleb & Evelyn to haunt the narrative so thoroughly while never having any speaking lines or even appearing on screen outside of 400yr old repressed memories, delusions, and/or hyped up folklore

We don't even know for sure if Evelyn was a Clawthorne, or what she looked like, or how the fight between Caleb and Philip went down, or Caleb's reasons for leaving without Philip, or what their half witch half human baby looked like, or how long after Caleb left before Philip found him again, or what Evelyn did when she discovered her dead lover's grave was robbed, or how quickly after killing Caleb did Philip decide "I can make a new Caleb that's Better™"

The way I see it, truthing is when you cross the limit of "it's just for the funsies" and stop acknowledging that the people involved in the ship are Not Dating.

It's okay to be a shiper, it's okay if you only like one ship or if you like multiple, but the second you start getting mad cause your blorbo was shipped with another person bc they should ONLY be shipped in your otp (for example the knf drama) or are really adamant about how the REAL PEOPLE are dating in secret because they looked at each other for .5 seconds in a video or do perfectly normal stuff to do between friends, the bells start ringing for me.

I dont really know how to explain it. The line between shipping and truthing is quite thin, but it's there and easy to spot if you pay attention
