with the dc inside joke thing, do you think there was an element of bullying (as such) going on with dc/mark maybe other drivers towards seb? not just on a commentating level but just in general. i’ve always wondered since obviously after 2010 there seemed to be a lot of snide and unkind remarks about seb and things like that

i'll start out right by saying that i take seb at face value when he said that kimi was the only one who would really talk to him when he first joined f1, which was a big deal! which i mention because i sort of think that precludes a lot of, idk, classic bullying behavior, except ofc the silent treatment, which even if that's 'normal' in f1 i can easily believe that seb felt it was rather pointed and internalized it.

i think the red bull drivers is another can of worms because they would've been observing seb get the golden child treatment for years. so i kind of have to imagine that the 'inside jokes' and snide comments and everything are partly venting frustration and/or jealousy. something else about it that puts a terrible taste in my mouth is that dc and mark etc have the luxury of crafting their comments in their first language, and delivering them to the british media who they already knew was firmly on their side from the schumi years. maybe they felt like their comments were tit for tat, especially if they were kept aware of helmut marko's comments to german-language media and counted them, or that they felt like they were doing something important by making sure seb's ego was cut down to size, but. well. i guess i'll sum up by saying that it's classic bully thinking to excuse poor behavior by acting like it's a level playing field and the key power imbalances, eh?

oh yeah and again i'll reiterate that we only know the public-facing side of it and maybe seb laughed at more of it than we know but idk. my mama taught me that kindness is free 🤷‍♀️

So like the only WIP I have any actual prose written for rn is my post-game bloodweave fic so I'm struggling to find non-spoilery bits from that ASJKKHJF

When first light begins to peek along the horizon, dotting the city in gold and orange, Astarion will retreat into their tower once more. He’ll have some witty remark on the tip of his tongue, always ready to dance around the most wounded parts of himself as if to minimize whatever damage he still expects those around him to inflict. It’s a cycle Gale desperately yearns to change. To see those same gold rays of light play over the angular planes of his face once more, instead of the departing shadow of him.

But all Gale can think about when he sees it is how he’d stood in this exact spot after he’d been cursed with the orb. How he’d stared, equal parts dumbstruck and mortified, at the freshly placed burn on his chest. The bruise in the center hadn’t yet had time to form. It raised and blistered aggressively over the following days, adding another layer to the pain and confusion that already addled his heart and mind, but to see it after it’d healed, the perfectly formed lines of it — it almost felt like a brand. An artistic rendition of his folly, embedded into his skin forever.

☔Is there a fic concept you have that you'd like to just explain and share because you're not sure you'll ever write it? If so, what is it?

I think the very first BG3 things I ever started working on was a bloodweave fic with the concept of the tadpole mind stuff being a little more broken? I liked the idea of (act 3 spoilers here oop) Gale's Netherese magic bullshit reacting to the Netherese magic bullshit with the tadpoles. Very fun concept and it was honestly just a good excuse to take force bonds from Star Wars and shove it into BG3, but I don't think I'll ever have the time or energy to actually write it. But the concept of those two kind of being stuck in each other's heads without a way to turn it off was SO amusing to me.

I’ll answer these out of order because one answer is going to be surprising to anyone who’s followed my blog the past few months!

5) Favorite TV show: Definitely Metalocalypse. I’ve loved it since 2006 when it came out and I’ve loved Brendon’s work on Home Movies even before that, so the revival and conclusion of the show has really been way more important to me than is easy to express. He’s always been one of my favorite creatives since I was a kid and it felt so unjust when Metalocalypse was canceled with no ability to conclude. Seeing it finish is bittersweet because it’s finally over but it also has made me extremely happy and inspired me creatively for the first time in 10+ years. I’ve been writing again, drawing, needle felting, sewing (well, attempting to anyway!), making bracelets, practicing and making music, making playlists, and more ever since Metalocalypse came back. I wish I could tell Brendon that he helped me find my voice again. (Didn’t mean to get all serious there but it’s all true.)

4) Favorite movie: This may be the surprising one because the answer isn’t Army of the Doomstar, it’s Whisper of the Heart. That movie is a longtime favorite of mine and I’ve been watching it again lately because it’s the movie that has, by far, best expressed how it feels to be a creative who isn’t sure of their own voice. My entire life, whenever I was asked what one of my goals was, it was to publish a novel someday, and since Metalocalypse came back, I’ve been writing fanfics again to warm my writing skills back up in preparation to write an original novel, which I’m on my way with. So while Whisper of the Heart is barely going to beat Army of the Doomstar, it can’t be understated how important Army of the Doomstar was as well. I’m also giving an enormous runner up award to Everything Everywhere All At Once for being a movie that made me ugly cry harder than I thought possible. 🪨

Your professor, I assume 😂 lol but yes I was read these stories very early in my childhood and I could see the direct parallels to biblical stories (before this I was only read or told Bible stories lol) and my dad even drew parallels my sister and I couldn’t see. For Christian fiction it really is pretty top tier I’ll give Lewis that!

Also considering the Sylvari in general, I like to imagine that this is a lot more of a normal and culturally ingrained ritual of sorts that varies in degree from person to person. In this case though, I like to imagine that they sometimes casually pluck flowers from their travels and place them on each other (slide into hair, etc), or when they send letters to each other.

Also if it was possible (not sure if she can grow them back or if they remain stationary on her, but I'm going to pretend like she can have a minor ability to grow her own blooms), Caithe giving Mourynn one of her Crystal Blooms would be a very intimate gift, same with Mourynn giving Caithe one/some of her Mourning Glories (actually I already have it where she has a secret garden where she's trying to cultivate flowers to resemble Caithe's Crystal blooms to give to her as a gift as a personal side project that she's been working on for a while). Tbh I might yoink this as a stupidly sappy marital exchange between the two of them (since Sylvari don't really have wedding ceremonies, so it's this instead of rings), since both of those are distinctive flowers that are unique to both of them, so both of them giving each other their signature flowers would be very symbolic <3

😆 - What kind of laugh do they have? UHMm I'm not actually sure, I've never been good at describing this sort of thing alksfd. I feel like her laugh would vary based on the situation though lksjfs.

Bear Ghost is my favorite band of the past decade. Their music is upbeat and exactly the kind of music I love the most; catchy and evocative without taking themselves too seriously.

Pomplamoose was a band that I listened to the most when they were first getting started, back in 2010 for me. I loved their first three albums the most, they were very experimental and the vibe of two people just finding how to make sounds work well together was delightful. I still enjoy their current music, but that was when I loved them the most.

Louie Zong is a wonderful artist, animator, and musician. He's probably my current favorite artist overall, all of his work is so charming and uplifting. He even has a tumblr!

We Want A Rock - They Might Be Giants [Youtube, Spotify]

My overall favorite band, I have loved them since I was very young and have only grown to love them more as I've dug back into their discography. This song specifically seems, to me at least, to be a message about how we're all working to build something stable just to do something fun with our lives, though from what I've read it was just intended to be a joke about pet rocks. SO! Hector is the oldest of his 4 siblings. In order, it's: Hector (born in 1939), Eduardo (born in '40 or '41 I haven't decided yet), Ricky Jr. (1945), and Alaina & Alberto (twins, born in '47). They're pictured below in order

Hector is an oldest sibling to a T. However, he didn't get to exert that for long in his child and teenhood. He's put away in '56 and so his youngest siblings grow up mostly without him, leaving Ed as the default oldest. And Ed is more than happy to abuse that title. He's always touting that "he's the oldest, what he says goes". He's the one who heads the business (more aptly the seedlings of a future crime organization) and he often calls the shots. Ricky is his right hand man of sorts and effective co-leader but Eduardo is an extreme narcopath; at the end of the day, he needs to be recognized as the boss.

Like I said, too, Hector's away for nearly two decades. So his dynamic with the siblings is incredibly... vacant. And not long after he's released, it's replaced with fear. And they thought Ed was a handful to deal with.

Hector loves his family the way Logan Roy loves his children. And that's something that he and Ed, for all their problems, had in common. They like their family the best when they're in their designated roles and when they themselves are in their set place (above everyone).

Since we're talking specifically about Hector's dynamic with the sibs, I'll keep it brief and give an overview:

Hector and Eduardo: Two children fighting over one toy. One's solution is to steal it away and the other's is to break, because if he can't have it, no one can.

Hector and Ricky: Ricky's a bastard but he's a bastard who's loyal to the family's needs. The "yes" man.

Hector and Alberto: Alberto gets a pass for being weak on account of his piety. He does what Hector says and that's what matters. On account of him being the babiest brother, there is more affection for him, but again, Berto is good at keeping his head down

Hector and Alaina: Alaina may as well not exist to Hector. She was already gone after he got out, so that's the truth.

There's a lot, lot, lot, LOT of history with these siblings. The many different dynamics btwn different sibs and sib groupings say a lot about them and their upbringing. And by 2002, all Hector's brothers and his sister have been out of the picture for various reasons. The man who pushed and pushed and pushed them wonders why he feels a little more hollow.
