Thoughts on the live action one piece

Spoilers 😉

Yes, I binged all 8 episodes, and have work today and can’t see out my eyes but worth it.

I’ll try to keep it short.

Luffys character was immaculate. The way Inaki portrayed him and brought this man to life was so amazing to see. Oda really saw Luffy in him and he did not disappoint. The moves looked great, CGI was on point for a live action, and they really did break the curse.

Zoro’s character was beautiful. I love that he was more serious, and him throwing up the finger in his first scene?! I’m star struck. You can say what you want about the live action, but theres no denying this cast was perfect for these characters and the fight scenes were choreographed to the point where it looked so clean.

Nami 🥳 The emotion! The conflict! I absolutely love the way she had more action scenes and was more open with her care for the crew early on. Nami has always been my favourite character, and Emily did her justice.

I will be listening to her song on repeat.

Ussop! Ussop! Are you serious! Why do I love you in every reality! And Ussop and Kaya! The kiss! The scream I let out! I died😵‍💫 I wish he had more shooting scenes, but his true potential wasn’t seen until later in the anime so I can’t complain, cause season two Ussop is gonna pop off.

Sanji😳 First off, live action Sanji has a hold on me😮‍💨 Like what happened to the guy who couldn’t get any girls. Ngl, was keeping an eye out for the blonde at table 8, looking out for my competition👀 His kicks were so smooth and all, and I mean ALL, his fight scenes were perfect. Like how did they do this. You can see the care and effort he put into his character.

Buggy? I love our unhinged clown. His making a circus with trapped towns people. His CGI? Amazing. The little goof we were left with when they trapped his parts in the chest made me cackle!

The pacing of the show was done so well. I was worried that 8 episodes wouldn’t be enough (and I was right where’s season two I want Vivi), but the retelling was more then I hoped for. I will always love the anime more, as most of us know there’s not enough episodes in the series, but the live action did great in that respect. I did miss some of the characters they had to cut to make it flow better though. The ussop pirates live on in our hearts

Don’t get me wrong, there was some scenes I missed from the original show, like Zoro lifting Luffy’s cage, Nami burning her hands on Buggys cannon fuse, Nami stabbing Ussop. BUT, they wouldn’t have fit in this version of the show.

They did give us Zoro lifting the safe like he did Luffys cage which was cool. And Nami holding Ussops hand when Zoro was fighting, Nami showing up for the fight rather then leaving. I love her. Even though Nami didn’t get to show her care through the actions of saving Zoro or stabbing her own hand, she was still able to show those emtions through different actions. The hand holding with Ussop rather then the stabbing of her hand was so good to see. This version of Nami seemed more fragile in a way, so this suited her version well.

It was like watching One Piece for the first time all over again. I didn’t know what would happen. Getting more marines, and Garps relationship to Luffy being revealed so early in the series to cause tension within the crew *chef’s kiss* And Koby? ‘Be a good pirate.’? Like I love you? Not doing what Garp asked? Standing up for his beliefs? You are going to be a good Marine. You’ll be the greatest 💕

The relationships they explored?

First off Ussop and Kaya 😵 I love them so much. Them talking to the straw hats about their relationship was so cute, and Zoro saying it wasn’t his area of expertise 💅🏻✨ Jokes 👀

Nami being besties with Kaya😍 Her telling Kaya not to let someone tell her how to run her life, drawing connections to her own situation, telling Kaya not to be trapped. Her returning the treasure! I loved it so much. Ussop’s and Nami’s friendship has always been the one I cherished in the crew, and for Nami to support Kaya, and Ussop to see how Nami was good to his girl I feel will only strengthen their relationship.

Nami and Zoro besties? Didn’t know I could love them more.

Nami caring so much for Zoro after his fight with Mihawk showed her love for her new friends, and mirrored her care she had in the original series where she saved him from drowning at Arlong park. Even though we didn’t get the original scenes, they were supplemented with new scenes that held the same feelings.

Zosan- I mean Zoro and Sanji. The wings of the pirate king? I love their bickering in any universe it seems. The fish men fight was so good, them being unbothered with the guys trying to kill them as they fought with each other was so them. And Zoro licking his plate clean and saying Sanji’s food was okay? Not bad for a waiter huh?

And the most important pair. Captain and his first mate. I just loved how many times they reiterated that Zoro is Luffys right hand man 🥰 Luffy not stepping in the way of Zoros dream was beautiful, and his care afterwards reminded me of how he cared for Nami when she got sick in the original series. Asking Sanji to cook his favourite? So cute. He couldn’t decide if it was best for Zoro to eat or sleep or drink and him stressing for Zoro. All amazing. I’ve used amazing so many times but its just the word I need to explain it. Zoro waking up, Luffy engulfing him. I could go on and on.

Nami and Luffy? The amount of love I have for them. They were everything I wanted from them. The scene. THE scene. Beautiful.

I could go on and on about this show, but sadly I have work. Please show this version love, and don’t go into expecting the same series. It is different. It’s its own version and deserves its own category.

I Know It’s Not Me. It Was Never Me

Characters: Usopp x Fem!reader

Warnings: unrequited love, one sided love, pinning, bitterness, no happy ending (sorry) (no I’m not lol)

You knew that you weren’t the one that had Ussop’s heart. That his heart belonged to Kaya. It was obvious from the way his eyes gleamed whenever he talked about her.

How he always talked about her. No matter the topic, he always, always found a way to relate it back to Kaya.

He could look at the sky and said it reminded him of Kaya, he could look at delicious sweets and say that he wished he could give some to Kaya, hell he could be talking about his “adventures” and said he wished he could bring Kaya with him.

His eyes would bright up at the mere sight of her, he would spend every waking hour with her if he could.

It was just Kaya, Kaya, and even more Kaya. It was annoying to hear about it.

And it hurt so, so much. You were right there, you were attainable to Usopp but still he dreamt of having Kaya. Even though he knew that it would never work. That they could never work.

Guess people would always want something they couldn’t have. Guess that saying rang true for you too.

At a certain part, your sadness melted into bitterness which turned into hatred. You weren’t proud of it and you knew that it was no one’s fault. You couldn’t help who you loved and neither could Usopp.

That didn’t stop your blood from boiling when you saw Kaya though.

It didn’t stop your eyes from rolling whenever Usopp went on and on about Kaya either. And it didn’t stop you from crying your eyes out every night under your covers where wished and prayed that one day your feelings would just disappear.

Every night you wished your heart wouldn’t skip a beat when Usopp’s brown eyes landed on you and you wished your mind would stop wondering what Usopp was doing absentmindedly.

You hugged your pillow tighter and pressed your face deeper into it, hoping it’d muffle your cries so you wouldn’t wake your family up.

The day was mundane as every, you helped your family with the shop throughout the day and cleaned it up at closing. It was almost evening, the sky became a multitude of oranges and purples. There was no sight of Usopp though.

You didn't know if you were happy or not because of it. To distract yourself from your complicated feelings, you busied yourself with work.

Besides, like your Dad loved to say there's always work to be done. You're just not looking hard enough.

“Hey, where's that boy you hang around at?” Your mom asked as she restocked the bread for tomorrow.

You wiped the tables, “I don’t know.”

With how quiet and dejected you sound, your mother gave you a worried look. You didn’t respond to it and she didn’t push it.

You went outside to take a break and felt the cool breeze on your face when you saw it. Ussop embraced and kissed Kaya.

You stopped dead in your tracks.

You didn’t think… Well you…

But it was right there, in front of your very eyes. You looked away from the scene, feeling embarrassed, creepy, angry, sad. Too many conflicting emotions, your chest started to hurt and your tears started to flow.

You slid down on the wall of your family’s shop. It was an alleyway so no one would bother you but an stray animal or something.

You knew you weren’t the one Ussop would choose. But you didn’t think that they could happen. That rather scary butler of Kaya’s clearly hated Ussop, and so you thought…

No, it didn’t matter now. He chosen. And it wasn’t you, it’d never, in an million years, be you.

You heard the bell ringing from your shop’s door, someone had walked in but it was closing time. Your mother probably would’ve turned them away.

“Oh, hello Ussop,” she said and your hears perked up.

“Hello, ma’am, um do you know where (Y/N) is? I have something to tell her,” you heard him ask.

What could he possibly want with you? Oh, god. Did he knew that you liked him? This whole time? Is he going to try to tell you?

You prided on being stealthy with your feelings but you get caught up in your head at times so maybe you weren’t as secretive as you thought.

God, how humiliating is that?

“I'm sorry, dear. But I don't. Would you like me to relay a message back to her?” your mother asked.

You could hear the reluctance in his voice, “I…I don't know. Because, well I'm leaving the island, And I don't know when or if I'll come back. So I want to say goodbye in person.”

That shocked you. He was leaving? To go where? With who? With Kaya maybe? Were they gonna runaway with each other?

You stood up on your tippy toes, looking at them both through a small window. You could see your mother but Usopp’s back was to you.

“Oh, that's wow. Hm, I guessed you've outgrown this place. It was bound to happen soon or later, huh?” your mother responded, and she caught your eye.

You quickly shook your head, please don't tell him. You knew that maybe one day you'd regret this but you weren't strong enough for this. To see him, leaving.

Usopp chuckled, “Yea, guess so. But you really don't know where she is?”

Your mother shook her head and he sighed deeply. They said their goodbyes, and your mother offered Usopp some food for his travels.

Then he was gone. You heard his voice, talking to his new friends. It was growing quiet and soon you couldn’t hear him anymore.

Maybe this distance between the two of you would make your heart grow numb to him. In any case, you just hoped it wouldn’t grow fonder.

NOOOOOOOO I LOST THE AU I WROTE FOR YOU 😭😭😭 I LITERALLY SENT IT AND TUMBLR SAID "NETWORK ERROR". L FOR THE WIFI. L. Not cool I'm literally crying I thought that AU was genius. It was a Teacher!Buggy AU with Crocomom and Dadhawk. + Shanks co-parenting Luffy with Crocodile. That note was so long I literally spent like 45 mins writing it here on your ask and it was just. Gone. Or I think it did. Why does life hate me. I'm just gonna be brief with this cuz I still think it's golden lmao. Croco and Mihawk work long hours so their kids (Luffy, Zoro, Perona) have to wait for a few hours until they're picked up by their parents. The school doesn't have school buses bc I said so (no I am not cruel it's just out of my budget /j). So Buggy takes the responsibility to keep them comfortable and entertained while they wait. Croco and Mihawk meeting this charming (and clown looking) blue-haired guy and they start courting him. Shanks gets dragged in on the courting bc of Luffy. Also he was already courting Buggy. I didn't write their process of courting I basically skipped and went,, their wedding will take part in a Goth castle. And the design are all sunshine and rainbows (literally). Sanji, Usopp, Nami, Vivi, Zoro and Luffy being in a class along with other kids. Franky, Robin, Jinbei and Brook are in higher classes. Chopper is atom. Not here in the world yet. Perona is like, 2-3yrs older than her brothers so. Yeah *awkwardly shuffles* (I love perona I swear-). Implied Zosan. Some rando: but you didn't imply shi— Me: Shhh I did. *gaslighting*. Law is also there in the classroom with lower grade strawhats. He's suffering. He only attends 3 days a week tho, he's mostly homeschooled bc of his sickness. He's homeschooled by Cora. (You can pry Law and Cora from my cold dead hands. You can separate them when I dissolve into ashes). Don't worry as he gets older his sickness is cured. Ofc he's cured by Cora. He's saved by Cora in every universe. In every AU. Every Era. Every life they will ever live. I will die on that hill– *applies the nobody dies/everyone lives tag on this AU* let my babies be happy pls. Let my man Cora live and travel the world with this emo boy (Law). Sora divorces with Judge and remarry with Zeff so now Sanji lives with all his brothers and his sister. They get separate classrooms tho, and reiju is perona's age so she's besties with her. (I do not play by canon's rules with ages bc i live in my own world) They both tease their brothers (Sanji and Zoro) about their crushes on each other. The heart crew is there. Bepo is a dog, a very fluffy one. Kuina is alive. Kaya is there, same classroom with Usopp. I have no idea how to continue this lmao, but I do hope you find this interesting bc Buggy is 100% great with kids and probably teaches well bc he is a big nerd and makes lessons interesting. (Also, the whole reason why I wrote this instead of letting the idea slip through my mind like the others is bc the image of two goth men courting a clown looking mf was funny to me. So here we are lmao. The way I wrote this makes Shanks look like he's the person they let into their open relationship twice lol I'm so sorry 😭😭)

That's really sad, I really like this idea (though I see Shanks and Buggy more as siblings, but I understand the idea of Shuggy) It's fine that this became about so many people, I really like this.

Teacher!Buggy sounds so cool, you know that he's the flashiest and maybe one of the craziness of the things he'll do to get his students good things that will boost their learning. He knows that every kid might not have the same learning paths as others.

How many classes does this man teach? Who knows, too many for how much he gets paid. All teachers needs to get paid more.

I would think Jinbei and Brook being other fun teachers in the school, like Tom could be as well!

I really like this idea, and the imagine of two gothic men trying to court a clown-looking mf is really funny to me as well.

“what the hell.”

you heard from the green haired man beside you, causing you to roll your eyes in advance. the four of you were patiently waiting for ussop to make a decision after luffy excitedly asked him to join his crew. of course, he couldn’t choose without some pained goodbyes from his beloved kaya, the two of them suddenly locking lips in front of all of you. you glanced at grinning nami, and a confused luffy with a puzzled look on his face.

“he knows that i’m the captain, right?” luffy asked, pointing at himself.

“let em have this one.” you heard nami say, before luffy started to question the pair. you chuckled turning to the side to face zoro, your eyes meeting for a quick second, his orbs boring down into yours before he turned to look away.

“what? never seen two people kiss before?” you mumbled in annoyance, jabbing zoro in the stomach with your elbow, failing to get some sort of pained grunt from the man. but, you did get him to stop complaining.

“shut up.” he uttered, allowing a scoff to exit your mouth, the two of you staring at the smiling couple ahead. until, a silly assumption popped up in your head.

“hey mosshead,” you spoke, trying to get his attention. he replied with an annoyed “what”, eyeing you from the side.

“have you ever kissed anyone?” the sole set of words was enough to get the man beet red, his attention focusing on you quicker than ever, a scowl present on his face. you swore you saw his nostrils flaring.

“what the hell? what kind of question is that?” he replied, looking almost embarrassed. you did your best to hold in a laugh.

“damn, is "what the hell" your reply to everything?" you mumbled under your breath. "no need to get defensive, it was just a question!” you raised your hands, shaking your head. zoro eyed you, still irked by the sudden ask, as a smirk formed on your lips.

“a question that you didn’t answer…” you continued, tapping your chin. “so, then does that mean, that the roronoa zoro hasn’t kissed a single person in his life at all?” you grinned at the man before you, whose ears were burning red, eyebrows furrowing at your statement. he opened up his mouth only to shut it closed, unsure of what to reply. his silence was enough of an answer for you.

“ha! so it’s true!” a teasing look took over your features, you poking at his toned bicep continuously, glancing at his three swords. “what a loser.”

having enough of your playful antics, zoro gripped your arm and harshly tugged you towards him, the two of you now facing one another.

“alright then,” he finally spoke, tone deep as you noticed the way his flexed biceps were almost about to rip out of his t-shirt. raising his eyebrow, he opened his mouth.

“have you ever kissed anyone, y/n?” and your smirk widened. but before you could reply to the brazen man, luffy called out to you guys to get on board the going merry, his voice cutting the tense atmosphere into a thin slice of bread.

turning your attention back to the swordsman, all you did was lazily shrug in reply. suddenly, you leaned in dangerously close, your plump lips almost touching his chapped ones. zoro froze, immediately cursing you in his head due to the close proximity while still keeping a hardened expression on his face. you caught the way his eyes flickered down to your lips for a split second, the action engraving itself in your memory. you were definitely going to tease him about it later. but for now…

“i guess we’ll have to find out.” you whispered, your breath tickling his own. all zoro could hear in that moment was the clicking of your heeled boots against the wood as you backed away and retreated from the scene before the fazed swordsman could utter a word. of course, you couldn’t leave without slyly blowing him a kiss.

“since you’ve never gotten a real one before!” you yelled with a grin before strutting away onto the newly sailed ship. zoro shook his head, feet finally able to move out of the warmed space, the once tight air suffocating his chest now dispersed into the salt water below the docks. oh, he was definitely going to get back at you for that.

Zoro x Luffy drabble Part 1 (Part 2 out!)

"Zoro, look!" Luffy points at the streaks of light radiating in the night sky. The meteor shower has started!

"I see it, " Zoro says softly, not taking his eyes off his captain.

"What would you wish for, Luffy?" He asks after a few moments of quiet bliss.

"To be the king of pirates!" Luffy smiles dreamily.

"That I already know. What else?" Zoro carefully watches Luffy, who opens his mouth as if to say something, and then closes it and gulps nervously.

He sits up clumsily and leans against the railing, looking up at the sky with faraway eyes.

Zoro raises himself up and settles next to Luffy. He listens to his heavy breathing for a few moments before braking the silence.

"You can tell me anything," He points out.

"Anything?" Luffy looks at him with a glimmer of hope in his eyes.

Zoro nods and places his hand his knee—silently urging his captain to trust him.

"I... I had a dream," Luffy sighs.

"Was it a bad dream?" Zoro frowns. Maybe Luffy wasn't holding up as good as he seemed to be!

"It wasn't... Unpleasant. Just strange, I guess," Luffy says, chewing on his bottom lip.

"Oh. What was it about?" Zoro's frown deepens.

"Someone else was in my dream. I couldn't see their faces, but they were all over me..." Luffy drops his gaze.

"Like a fight?" Zoro asks, confused.

"No, not like a fight. We were doing things... Like what Ussop and Miss Kaya did... Petting each other with their lips," Luffy's throat bobs.

"You mean, KISSING?" Zoro asks, breathless.

"Yeah, that! We kissed, and I liked it. When I woke up, I couldn't stop thinking about it... For days!" Luffy lets out a shaky breath.

"I wish to feel it again. This time for real," He says in a low voice, refusing to meet Zoro's eyes.

Zoro feels warm all over, like a cozy fire was lit at the pit of his stomach. His captain probably had his first sexual experience, and he felt safe enough to share it with Zoro! He finds it incredibly hot and sweet at the same time!

He tilts his chin up and lightly cups his jaw, looking deep into Luffy's eyes.

"When we dock in the next harbor, I'll find you a lovely girl who will make all your wishes come true," Zoro smiles.

Instead of cheering up, Luffy's face falls.

He staggers to his feet and starts walking away! But Zoro has a swordsman's reflex, so it takes him only a moment to jump to his feet and stop Luffy on his track.

Zoro's heart sinks when he realizes that Luffy is sobbing silently.

"Luffy, what's wrong?" Zoro pleads, taking him into his arms. Luffy closes his eyes and violently shakes his head, his cheeks wet with tears.

"I...I lied!" He sniffles.

"You don't have to say anything if it hurts you so much!" Zoro tries to wipe his tears, but Luffy flinches away from his touch!

"No, you must know. Nobody else has to, but I must tell you," He says pitifully.

"It wasn't just anyone in my dream," Luffy's voice cracks. "It was you!"

TOP 1: USOPP X KAYA 🤝💕

Finally...we have come to my dearest couple of all time 😌 There many kind of relationships, certainly, not many can compare to the sweetness of Usokaya. They understand and trust each other. They have dreams of their own and support each other to follow them. They care for each other and would do anything in their power to protect the other. So different yet so similar. Without a doubt: they are like a match made in heaven 😊 When I started watchin ONE PIECE, I really enjoyed Ussop's introduction arc and more than anything, his relationship with Kaya. There are much better arcs later in the series certainly, but I cant help but come back to this in particular from time to time and most of the reason why is because of these two 🤭 Many years have passed and yet I haven't found any other couple that makes me feel so much positive thinks like Usokaya. And for that, and much more, I can be certain that this pair will always remain as my one and only OTP. For Now...and Forever!!! 🤗🤗🤗

Rewatching the One Piece live action with your parents is so funny cause my dad laughs at Luffy being his goof self and mum thought Zoro was gonna kill Kuina for her sword in the flashback 💀

rewatching one piece for the 1st time. it's been a long time since I saw this show.

watching the live action really ignite again that interest of continuing to watch one piece.

my fave strawhat is Nico Robin.

i like all strawhat crew but i gravitate more into robin, zoro, chopper and usopp.

im no stranger into shipping characters. i know that oda said no romance between the crew but let fans be fans and enjoy the dynamics of the characters he created. and it's fun.

my top ship is zoro x robin.

but i can also see luffy x nami and sanji x nami could do fine.

i like that in the live action they make ussop x kaya as canon.

i just hope I can survive watching over a thousand episodes.

speaking of OPLA, season 1 is pretty solid. love how they maintain the essence of the anime but still kept it very different at the same time.

got me very excited for s2. i hope they keep this up and able to make more seasons to cover the stories from the anime or manga.

im also excited about who are going to portray the other characters in the live action.

🖇 LOVER ! roronoa zoro.

pairing — opla!zoro x fem!reader. summary — a stop at a celebrating island brings zoro a much needed chance for quality time. genre — pure fluff. notes — i'm writing again and i'm currently obsessing over black cat x golden retriever relationships. warnings — cursing, fluff that makes me jealous, moody zoro, no y/n mention, using the words laugh and kiss excessively because i don't know how to write. word count — 2027.

ENGLISH IS MY SECOND LANGUAGE.

it was beyond zoro's comprehension why anyone would prefer to walk around an overcrowded street the entire day, especially when he could have spent it sleeping in the solitude of his room. still, he had begrudgingly followed after you once the cook implied how much fun the two of you could have without him.

they had found the small island after days of luffy complaining, with excuses of eating out to give sanji a break —in reality, he just wanted ice cream— he finally managed to convince nami. the ship docked in the early morning as the sun warmed their tan skin and the breeze ran through their bodies, carrying ussop's blabber about shops and people he had met the many times he allegedly came to the place.

the street market they had dragged him into was full of people, all smiling and conversing with one another about some dumb spring festival. zoro walked with crossed arms, his bored steps leaving him behind and allowing him to keep an eye on everyone and look out for any suspicious behavior. the locals that passed by eyed the swords warily and tried to keep as far away from him as possible in the crowded street, cowering away from his towering form.

he didn't pay too much attention to them once he discarded them as a threat, his eyes lingered on you running around with luffy and checking a fruit stall, paying the woman for a few strawberries and then turning around to pay again after your captain stuffed his mouth with grapes.

after making sure to give luffy some berries to pay for anything else he may eat you walked with quick and excited steps, making your way to him through the sea of people pretending they weren't looking at you as if you were insane for approaching him so freely.

"open up!"

if there was anything zoro was sure about, it was that the smile you were giving him could outshine the sun itself, and so no matter how fed up with this stupid island he was he couldn't help but smile back and accept the small fruit you were holding against his lips. suddenly it seemed far less appealing to be back at the going merry when instead he could look at you wander around, eyes going from trinket to trinket while you tried to find the perfect gift for each of your friends.

"so, i got sanji some new kitchen knives and a tie, and i saw a vest for luffy but i don't want him to see me buying... you're not paying attention to me, are you?"

"i got distracted." his feet carried him closer, hands sliding to your waist and sending shivers down your spine.

no matter how against public displays of affection he was, his brain kept telling him to kiss you. ussop's smug face, on the other hand, told him to go up to him and smack the back of his head.

"come on lovebirds, i wanna get something for kaya and nami's killing me!"

nami's offended face brought yet another smile to your face and you left his arms laughing as you pulled ussop towards an old lady's jewelry stall while assuring her about her exceptional taste in gifts.

soon enough luffy had left the fruit behind, leading the group to an old but cozy looking restaurant. the group stared at the small table in front of them, which seemed barely big enough for four people, and started to squeeze themselves in the leather booth. after a few seconds of consideration, zoro shoved ussop towards the middle and took his swords off placing them against the seat, turning to grab you and sit you next to him only to find you already between sanji and nami.

luffy eagerly pushed him into the seat and took the place he had cleared for you, kicking his swords to the floor in the process and practically jumping over him to grab the menu.

"what's with the grumpy face, zoro? look at all the things we can eat, this is great!"

he had to spend the next hour in a place that didn't sell alcohol, squished like a bug, being elbowed by luffy every five seconds, and watching you laugh at sanji's stupid comments about the food. this was not, in fact, great.

the locals were already pulling things away by the time they left, so they finally decided to bring him some peace and go back to the going merry. as the sun went down and the ship came into view, zoro let out a relieved sigh, he could already picture a comfortable night spent in his hammock with you in his arms (after minutes of pretending he wants to sleep alone, of course). that nice thought shattered immediately once you walked right past him and into nami's room.

"i assume you're getting changed." the cook stood against the kitchen door with a cigarette in his hand. he looked him up and down in disgust and took a long drag before blowing the smoke in zoro's face. "you should, for your girl."

"why would i get changed?" he took the stick from the blond and threw it towards the sand. sanji simply pulled another one from his pocket.

"for the festival." he spoke with the cigarette between his lips as if it was obvious as he searched his pockets for a lighter.

"yeah, i'm not going to that. not gonna spend my night around a bunch of idiots who think they have to praise the moon or whatever." zoro walked towards the kitchen, making sure his shoulder bumped against the annoying man.

"yes you are." sanji turned to look at him, a smirk on his face. zoro frowned before hearing the faint sound of you and nami laughing.

his eyes closed and his head fell back. he felt sanji pat his shoulder before walking away, snickering between drags of the new cigarette.

the beach was littered with tents, fairy lights hanging and illuminating the coast, a band occupied an impromptu stage from where they played for the people dancing around. your voice brought zoro's attention back to the ship, from where he saw you coming down with nami.

wrapped in bright pink fabric, you walked into the festival excitedly, staring at everything in wonder. you made eye contact with zoro and tried to reach him before being pulled away by luffy and nami. you look back at him, trying to look apologetic as you reach the dancefloor, and mouth an apology to zorro before being carried away, getting lost in the multitude.

he considers going after you for a while, but you look happy in the small glimpses he can catch of you. it's rare for the crew to be able to relax and have fun for so long, so he can wait for a night.

hour after hour, zoro stares at you from his seat at a table near the tents, watching people, especially luffy, come and go for food. the sky starts to turn completely black as the crowd starts to decrease. the noise is starting to become too much for him, between the loud instruments and sanji's annoying voice as he explains to ussop the cooking methods for the food next to them, he can feel his head starting to pound.

he lets out a deep exhale, grabbing his drink and walking back to the ship.

the music reaches him even here, accompanying him and his bottle as he leans against the rails. you find him in the dark, alone and slightly drunk, and your eyes focus on the tensed muscles of his back.

zoro knows the sound of your steps like he knows every detail of the wado ichimonji, so he doesn't react with more than a sigh to the creaking floor, preparing himself for the conversation you're about to have.

he feels the warmth of your hands traveling through the expanse of his back, smoothing the fabric as you bring them forward, he feels your body press against his and leans back, eyes closed as he feels himself relax.

"you're missing the party." your voice cuts through the silence, accompanied by the soft tunes of strings and a happy town.

"celebrating isn't really my thing." his words come out gruff, and he soothes the hoarseness with a long sip. he's hoping you won't say anything else, but zoro knows you and he knows you won't accept that for an answer.

"but a good bottle of sake is, you usually show up for that. tell me what's wrong." you twisted him around, finally getting him to look at your worried face. his only response was to lift the bottle in his hand, but he knew it wouldn't be enough.

"why did you leave?"

"i didn't know i would have to share my girlfriend so much."

a big grin plastered over your face.

"you just called me your girlfriend."

"that's what you are." despite his monotone voice zoro's eyes averted towards the sea and his thumb started to lightly tap the bottle. "isn't it?"

he focuses on the townspeople. they seem so unworried, dancing without a care in the world, laughing around and enjoying the place they call home. he takes a swig of the bottle before turning around.

his face looks bored and expectant, but still you recognize the small twitch on his tensing jaw.

"i am." you wrap your arms around his neck and press a chaste kiss against his lips. "it's just that it's the first time i hear you say it."

your relationship with zoro was fairly new. a slip of his tongue after you got hurt the last time the marines found the crew and things had sort of changed. no one had said or done anything, but everyone pretended that you suddenly grabbing zoro's hand or kissing his cheek in passing wasn't new at all.

"okay, so... let me get this straight. you got mad because i wasn't spending time with you and instead of talking to me you're here all brooding?"

"i'm not brooding."

"yeah, right." you stare at him with a bored expression as your fingers start playing with the hair at the nape of his neck.

"i'm not. i'm pondering."

"pondering what?"

"whether i like our friends enough to not kill them."

he watches you giggle and smiles, focusing on your lips and the burgundy color that covers them. he frowns at the tone before looking up with raised eyebrows.

"that's a new lipstick."

you laugh again and he feels his heart try to jump out of his chest.

"how do you know?"

"you don't wear colors this dark." he says it as if it was the most obvious thing in the whole world, and you softly smile.

"you know, nami helped me choose it. she said you would like it."

zoro rolled his eyes and took another sip from the bottle.

"you listen to girl advice from nami now?"

you rolled your eyes and pulled him closer, looking up to him with a smile.

"do you like it or not?"

zoro hummed, smiling as he stared at your lips.

"oh, i like it." he smirks before leaning down, pecking your lips again. the color stains his lips as he pulls back, and you smile before kissing his cheek, right under his eye. zoro grins at you and you place another kiss on his other cheek, right on top of his dimples.

placing the bottle on top of the rails, he grabs your hips and starts slowly swinging you at the rhythm of the music as you place yet another kiss on his face, and another, and another, and another.

the two of you come closer with each kiss, caressing each other between laughs. you press your forehead against his and he lifts a hand, gently grabbing your chin before his lips meet yours once again, slower this time.

he pushes you backwards, until your back is hitting the rails, and presses his body against yours, his tongue slipping into your mouth and pushing your head back to deepen the kiss as his fingers caress your face.

"hey, zoro!" luffy's voice pulls you apart and you look down to find the crew staring at you with smirks on their faces. "stop hovering her!"

he stares at you, smiling, before showing luffy his middle finger, ignoring your yelps of surprise and the taunting comments from your friends as picks you up and carries you to his room.
