I’m discovering an important part of aging. If I have a problem that I’ve never found help for, I have to manually ask myself, “How long has it been since you tried?”

If it’s been 3+ years, there’s sometimes new tools or strategies or knowledge, and it is crucial for me to periodically check for new help for old problems. Otherwise I will just suffer needlessly. Even 1 chronic thing is fucking exhausting and it’s so cool to finally finally finally get it fixed, even if there isn’t help for all of my Health Stuff.

#this is kinda about dentist work and GI issues #when I was 18 I asked for the dentist to fix something and she said no. lol. she said it would probably fix itself and that the surgery for #it was frustrating for the surgeon and the patient and it was painful and tricky. #but I have dental insurance now and apparently after 8 years they now use lasers and it takes like 30 minutes and isn’t that bad! #also for my GI issues??? I’ve always struggled with the ‘eat more fiber’ advice because it never helps and often makes it worse #but recently! a doctor explained various types of fiber! and recommended I increase one and decrease the other! and I’m so bad at changing m #my diet so it’s a slow process to test out the advice. but so far it seems to be helping! either that or the slight improvement is coinciden #either is possible. but still! new knowledge! new strategies! new understandings of old strategies! #it’s really cool #soren learning to survive capitalism

the shorthand developed between longtime couples or friends can be embarrassing, yes, but it can also be confusing for others in the best of ways.

exposition: my partner is rather squeamish, especially when it comes to various bodily things - and if you've known me for a while, you know that I love all things body and body related. we share one desk, with all our monitors aligned, and we often peek at what the other one is doing - same with phones, especially when we're having some downtime in bed. now, to relax, I really like watching various body-related videos - for example anatomy lessons with cadavers, or dental videos, especially tooth extractions - but that's something that would obviously absolutely upset my beloved. so the first time I was watching something like that and they peeked, I had to quickly cover my phone, and then explain that I was watching a dentist extracting a tooth.

now, this has to be a quick reaction - and I know that too many details about what it is exactly that I'm watching can be upsetting or disgusting on their own - so I've resorted to just saying DENTIST. when my love looks over and has the chance to potentially see something yuck. just dentist. it works!

fast forward to us picking up a friend from a music festival over summer - not a big concert but more a set of smaller scenes with a very specific vibe. definitely a vibe that encourages people to partake in various substances. while waiting for said friend, my partner told me they needed to pee, and so we went to the long line of porta-potties - and they've asked me to go in first to check the state of the facilities for them. and as I got in I saw that, well, it was bad. big bad. as bad as you can imagine a porta-potty to be.

and so to be quick, as my partner was about to enter after me and see all the bad everywhere, I just yelled DENTIST! DENTIST!

let me tell you. the line of people high out of their mind waiting to pee. hearing me yell DENTIST repeatedly from the belly of the portable toilet, to the clear horror of my partner. the look on their faces. the silence that fell. I can only wish I did not ruin anyone's trip with my sudden invocation of the dental nightmare but I'm not too hopeful on that you know

A bit of dried blood on the crown of the two teeth which brought a shiver down your spine. Who on earth would bring you such macabre tokens of affection?

You sighed and analyzed the bracelet. This was the fifth piece of handmade jewelry, if you could call it that, in the last few months.

You placed it with the other trinkets on your dresser. A pair of earrings made of human canines and a necklace made with various premolars and molars. And now you had a matching bracelet for your grotesque jewelry from your secret admirer.

You glanced at your window that had the lock obviously tampered with. Whoever they were, they always managed to break in without your knowledge. Were you still waking up and that was why you were so nonchalant about it? Or was it your fascination with serial killers that made you less inclined to notify the police of your… growing collection.

You rubbed your temple as you felt an impending headache grasp you in its hold. No… you couldn’t reject them. Gods only knew what they’d do if you reject them. Kill you? He then ducked around the bend to get back to his customers. You then diligently went back to your front desk duties.

The tanned man clicked his tongue, his gray eyes glanced you up and down. “Yes. My name is Zahn. Zahn Pain.”

Oh, it seemed you had an edge lord on your hands. But perhaps you were making assumptions based on his gothic appearance and prominent eye bags. His choice of jewelry was rather interesting as well… various animal teeth and crystals were parts of his necklaces, rings, and even earrings.

“Ah yes, your appointment is in about fifteen minutes-“ you were shocked when he placed his face closer to the glass, his eyes locked you in place like a predator staring down his prey.

“Do you like the dentist’s teeth?” Zahn muttered, his hands shook a bit while his face remained unreadable and stoic.

“Oh? Doctor Zimmerman has to have nice teeth to show his clients.” You nervously laugh which made Zahn back down. Why was he so strange?

Zahn hummed and shoved his hands in his leather jacket’s pockets. “I think your teeth are prettier since they’re not veneers. Have more personality.”

You thought for a moment. You hadn’t realized Dorian had veneers… which would explain their uncanny valley perfection. Zahn was surprising observant.

The gothic boy took a seat far away from the other patients in the very back of the lobby that had the perfect view of your desk. His gray eyes bore holes in your head while you continued to work.

You just couldn’t shake the feeling of dread that pooled in your stomach…

Currently the reader and Ghost are on a military base, so the workshop is more of a hole in the wall filled to the brim with bits and baubles of tech. I always imagine it as somewhere between cassette futurism(the gold standard of greebling) and hard cyberpunk. Big blocky screen tvs precariously placed with lines of code and old sonic games looping over them. Cables hanging from the ceiling and stringing between various computer towers. dimly lit save the few dental lights that the reader can wheel about(sort of) to whatever they're working on. A wooden workbench, a soldering iron, an iron stool. A box of drawers holding screws and tools strewn about. Organized chaos.

but back in Manchester? It was rotten, dreary. Huddled close to Simon to siphon some of the heat off of him as you handed over half your sandwich. Complaining about the rain to the closest thing you have to a friend. Scraping rust off of every bot that clamors through the doors of the shop you're apprenticing at. Random body headcanons for AGSZC:

Zacks hyper mobile. His elbows do the thing where they bend to far out when he sticks them up. He can also touch his thumb completely to his wrist and crack his hips. Down side of this is so many broken bones.

Cloud has got little scars on the back of his hands and calf’s from various canings.

However the stupidest scar he has is the one on the inside of his lip where zack bit him as a joke… they were not dating at the time.

Angeal has a couple of scars on his right forearm and elbow from the time he had to get the bone pinned because Genesis pushed him out of a tree when they were eight.

Sephiroth doesn’t really scar unless it’s a deep deep wound. He’s got a few surgery scars but the dumbest one is the one on his wrist that is a suspicious match for Genesis’s dental records (it’s exactly what you think.)

Cloud and Genesis and both incredibly flexible people.

Angeal is about as stiff as a board. Genesis has tried to loosen him up with yoga. It did not work.

Zacks not inflexible, however he overestimates how bendy he actually is and usually hurts himself.

Zack can dance he just chooses to be bad at it. The only time you’ll catch him dancing properly is when he’s trying to wooh his partners.

While Cloud and Genesis are very flexible, Sephiroth has mastered the ability of being able to fit all six foot five of himself in the gap behind the boiler in the airing closet. Many hours have been lost to that place.

Zack runs hotter than the sun.

Genesis runs surprisingly cold for someone who favours fire materia.

Cloud frequently does not recognise that he feels cold. He will walk around with blue lips until Angeal wrestles him into a jumper.

Angeals shoulders have been known to be wider than some door frames.

Don’t ask me where this came from. I do not have the answer.
