today's server VOY watchparty got up to 'Cathexis' and I realised that this moment had to be gif'd
(other highlight of this episode - very very little Chakotay 🎉🎉🎉)
I miss fun TV shows with ragtag friend groups getting into wacky hijinks. Like yeah fine they save the world or whatever but more importantly, they crack jokes and get into shenanigans and take care of each other. Miss the hell out of that shit.
Ok so I finally watched Prodigy ! And it was surprisingly good. This is obviously a kids' show but I ended up being pretty invested in the story. The main character started as Ezra Bridger-ass annoying but he's grown on me. Genuinely I think this might be the best new trek show with Lower Decks lmao. It even got me caring about what happens to CHAKOTAY of all things !
Also it had GREAT alien rep omfg there were so few humans I LOVE THIS SHIT !!! especially UFP founding members rep ahhhhh !!!!!!!!!! I've been wanting this for YEARS they did it for me
Tom buys a mood ring at an alien market while on shore leave, but it doesn't change color. He says it's consistent with ancient-Earth culture to wear a non-functional mood ring. Soon, the crew notices that his emotions change according to his temperature. Chakotay buys a vest from the same vendor, with no ill-effects.
While B'Elanna is still recovering from the effects of changing her DNA back to half-Klingon, she and Kes are sent to a winter wonderland to grow corn. And possibly flowers.
It's funny when someone is watching Voyager for the first time and everyone gives them a heads up about Tuvix and not. Not about Neelix being a possessive, jealous, controlling nightmare of a boyfriend to Kes, which is more or less the main story arc of early season 2
"Tuvok and Neelix become one guy, it's crazy haha"
*sniffle* well, that's that then. voyager has made it back to the alpha quadrant (albeit i'm not the biggest fan of the "timey whimey antics save the day" means utilized but i've seen similar plots play out far worse so i'll accept it with minimal brow furrowing), my mind & heart are full with a new sci-fi obsession, and while i know i said i'm diving into TNG asap, i do think my little ticker needs a minute to process & say goodbye to the star fleet captain who-- no matter how good picard/other captains i can't wait to meet are-- will now forever be My Captain(tm), and her intrepid crew (i'll even miss the doctor!) of the U.S.S. Voyager o7
I hate to be that guy but how come Picard gets to be a private eye in his silly little holoprograms but Janeway is out here being a governess in hers this better be a Jane Eyre type thing
me in 1987 - star trek the next generation RULES, this show is doing things i've never imagined, i love it
a bunch of wierd nerds for the last 30 years - wow s1 of tng is ROUGH compared to the later show
me for 30 years without regular access to rewatch the older episodes - well i have no reason to doubt them, i was six when farpoint aired
me now, going back and loving s1+2 for how fkn WIERD they are compared to how formal the structure of the later seasons became - man what the hell, i was right the first time, this absolutely rules
