So "Country" is a bit complicated. There are relatively few "countries" in the modern sense, however if we take country to mean land, or cultural/lingual/ or political groups there is somewhere around 229 "countries."

For example, Kishetal is a land, its people are Kishite and speak the Kishic language, however it is composed of many smaller city-states, so in actuality Kishetal would be dozens of tiny countries, but I am counting it as a single cultural entity, "Kishetal". Think of it the same way that you would think of Greece in the Classical Era. There was no single state called "Greece" yet the Greeks/Hellas were still an identifiable group and region.

CELEBRATE OUR 114 YEAR OLD

MS ELIZABETH FRANCIS

Houston, we have a celebration! At 114-years-old a Black woman living in Houston, has just become the oldest living person in America and fifth-oldest person on Earth, according to LongeviQuest and the Gerontology Research Group.

Francis became the new recordholder after California resident Edie Ceccarelli died on February 22 at 116-years-old. Among the people who live beyond the age of 110, or super centenarians, she is only “surpassed by Juan Vicente Perez Mora (Venezuela, 114), Inah Canabarro Lucas (Brazil, 115), Tomiko Itooka (Japan, 115), and Maria Branyas Moera (Spain, 116). Branyas was born several months before Ceccarelli.”

Elizabeth Francis was born in Louisiana on July 25, 1909. For context, this was shortly after William Taft’s presidential inauguration. During her lifetime, Francis has survived both World Wars, two pandemics, saw women gain the right to vote, and lived through segregation to see our nation’s first Black president.

LongeviQuest is an international organization that measures and records what it refers to as “maximum human longevity.” In a press release after her birthday last July, LongeviQuest CEO Ben Meyers stated, “Ms. Elizabeth Francis is admired around the world, both for her longevity and her approach to life…Reaching this milestone was never an aspiration for her, merely a byproduct of how she lived her life every day, doing right by her loved ones and by God. We can all learn from her example.”

Ethel Harrison, Francis’ granddaughter says that “Francis has some memory problems and is confined to her bed, but she’s mentally alert and recognizes her family.”

How did she achieve this feat? Dr. Holly Holmes, a geriatric physician, believes “Francis has done everything right when it comes to living longer…‘Things that we know we need to do like moving more, eating better, having a more plant-based diet, having social connections, avoiding loneliness and isolation.’”

Harrison echoed these sentiments, relaying how, “She tried to do things to stay healthy…Her life basically was pretty simple. She didn’t go out to parties and stuff like that. She was more of a homebody. She would go to church.” In addition, Harrison noted how her grandmother did refrain from smoking or drinking alcohol and that Francis was a regular walker up into her 90s.

But Francis has always attributed her long lifespan to God and saying what’s on her mind. “If the Good Lord gave it to you, use it. Speak your mind, don’t hold your tongue,” Francis says.

And longevity seems to be a family trait. Francis’ sister Bertha Johnson was 106-years-old when she passed away in 2011 and her father made it to 99. Per Western Mass News, “The sisters are among the sibling pairs with the oldest combined age in world history.” In addition, her daughter is 94-years-young, and Harrison who also serves as her caregiver is 68-years-old.

Lemment uses the momentum of rolling its spherical container around to propel its icicle legs. The fragile ice is prone to shattering, yet is also constantly reforming.

Some scientists speculate the ice is actually a separate Pokemon from Lemment, but this symbiotic relationship is not confirmed.

55. Oliver and Felicity Arrow

As most DC Comics fans know, Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell), a.k.a. the Green Arrow, and computer genius Felicity Smoak (Emily Bett Rickards) shouldn't have been endgame on Arrow. In the comics, Oliver is romantically paired with Black Canary, and the show did explore Oliver's connection with Laurel (Katie Cassidy), who would eventually become the black leather-clad vigilante, in season 1. However, it eventually ignored the canon and Olicity became the main love story because of Amell and Rickards' undeniable chemistry, on display from their first scene in Arrow's third episode, and the two characters eventually got married. "They're such opposites. I think that's what draws everyone in a little bit," showrunner Beth Schwartz told EW in 2018. "You don't see the [love story of a] super intelligent woman and the sort of hunky, athletic man very often. She's obviously a gorgeous woman, but what he really loves is her brain." Meanwhile, Amell attributes the couple's success to the fans of Rickards' performance. "She's supremely talented and awesome and carved out a space that no one anticipated," he told EW ahead of the final season. "I don't know that the show works if we don't randomly find her." —C.A.

Written in a mid-week wine haze and completely un-beta’d. So I own the mistakes, too, is what I’m saying. But you can be me for a while if you want.

Sometimes when I'm walking my crazy-ass rescue pit in the woods, I imagine coming across dog trainer!Sy and Aika.

Aika is off-leash, which of course she is; Sy trusts her recall unconditionally.

When he hears my panicked calls for Ginger to return and stop straining against the lead, Sy immediately clasps a leash on the heavy D-ring of the neon green collar around the German Shepherd's neck.

He stands patient and calm about 10 yards away while I spew profuse apologies in his direction and gentle curses at my dog.

"She's a rescue. I'm so sorry. She really doesn't like other dogs. Ginger, sit!"

"She's a spitfire for sure, but she wants to say hi. She just needs to learn some manners."

When I tell him I've been watching training videos on Instagram, he can barely contain the smirk that forms beneath his rugged beard as he drops his head to the side and gives a slow shake.

He takes note once I finally have G under some semblance of control and asks if I've tried an in-person trainer yet.

I tell him I hadn't yet; that I'd adopted a rescue before who had a much easier disposition and I hadn't thought I would have so much trouble with a second one; that it'd only been a month and I was honestly regretting the decision to adopt again.

He pulls a small white card out of the pocket of his tan camo cargo pants and lets me know he's gonna just drop it on this tree stump here and back away with Aika in the opposite direction.

He tells me his name and says maybe the girls can meet again someday and I notice his biceps flex in his maybe just too small tee as he tugs Aika’s leash.

When he goes, I wipe the sweat of frustration off my face and pick up the card from the stump.

I see the nickname he failed to mention underneath the name K9 Tactics and see he's a certified trainer and I just want to die from embarrassment because this guy with the close shaved head and beefy thighs apparent in his pants is hot as all fuck and there is no way in hell I would ever summon enough courage to put my shortcomings on further display in front of him for any length of time ever again.

But I hear him holler back "Don't overthink it. First session's free. She’s got promise!"

And, like, imagine my surprise when he admits day one while we're walking G down the path near my apartment that I'm technically his first client since he made the choice to start this side gig after retiring from the Special Forces.

He's managed to calm her down after their frenetic meeting and hooked her up to the most convoluted convertible leash I'd ever seen.

We were stopping every so often while he waited for her to step back from her pulling before we moved forward and he praised her with a happy Yes every time she did.

I had a hard time concentrating on everything Sy said while I tried to wish the ache of those yesses away, but I did catch that he was finishing up a few business courses before stepping into an executive position at a new protection company forming in the area.

By the time Ginger was able to heel without hesitation, Sy had already asked me out on two dates and kissed me so passionately at the end of the second after walking me to my door that I was left reeling when he stepped back and I could not fathom for the life of me how I let him go home that night.

We waited until the girls met, G circling in and out trying so hard to approach Aika calmly and say hello, before we ended the night in bed together.

It was messy and hesitant and a little uncomfortable until we both laughed and admitted we were just thinking it might be better to kennel the girls in separate rooms for the night so they don't trip out that the bedroom door is closed for the first time in forever and destroy the living room while Sy was destroying me.

He pounced immediately upon entering the room after securing G and Aika, tossing me to the bed and diving right between the sprawl of my legs.

I practically melted into mush when he raised his eyes to me and mouthed a silent "okay?" and it didn’t take long after he latched his lips around my cunt and dug his tongue deep and pressed it into my clit with such fervor for me to come crying out his name.

Through my blissful haze, I caught him swipe a paw across his beard before he crawled up over me and dipped his head to catch my lip between his teeth before sucking a kiss and tipping his tongue into my mouth.

“Was that okay?”

Wake Up Call

Word Count: 2463

Warnings: mild feelings of despair, comforting Sy, gentleman Sy, Sy’s liberal use of ‘baby’ and ‘sugar’ (but is that even a warning anymore? don’t we just expect it?), more smut,  oral (both f and m receiving), fingering, cowgirl, missionary, doggy style, generous lube use (it’s a plot point, but IYKYK). Please let me know if I missed anything for you.

A/N: I couldn’t get dog trainer!Sy out of my head, so I moved you in with him and got straight to the sex. Ginger still has some behavior issues.

You shut the door hard and sink to the floor as soon as you wrangle Ginger inside the house. Aika pads in from her spot in the living room and gives a quick hello sniff to G then turns her attention to you.

Her gentle nudges and G’s face licks and wiggly butt can't stem the hot tears of frustration beginning to stream down your face as you replay the scene over and over.

"That dog needs to be put down," the old lady hissed as she passed you on the path.

She'd stared straight at Ginger as you were trying to put her in place, but you couldn't collect your dog's attention before the woman made direct eye contact with her. Ginger went a little nuts, but you held fast to her lead, trying to back away slowly with a firm pull, no tugging or yanking. Just like Sy taught you.

"Sugar, back so soon?" Sy calls from the kitchen. "Dinner's almost ... baby, what happened?"

Sy drops to his knees on the ground next to you, touching your shoulder gently. You know what he's looking for as you feel his eyes sweep over you, even with your head hanging low.

"I'm fine. Nothing's broken," you sniff. "Just some mean old lady on the path."

"Someone say sumthin'?"

"She said I need to put Ginger down just 'cuz she growled at her. Didn't even lunge, Sy. I was so proud of her for a hot second but I didn't grab her attention fast enough and then the lady.."

"Fuck. That's Betty. She's a real piece a work. Dontchu listen to a thing she says. Woman's got a real hard-on for anything bigger’n a teacup." Sy unhooks G from her lead and gives her a good pat. "She don't even like Aika. Can you believe that?"

Sy sends Aika off and turns to sit next to you, wrapping his arm around your shoulder and drawing you close.

"Come on, don't even spend another thought on it. You're doing great with Ginger. And there's probably gonna be some bad days. Happens to the best of 'em."

"Not Aika," you sniff again. "She's the perfect dog. Never goes nuts in public..."

Sy interrupts your self-pity party. "Baby, no need to compare. Ginger is her own dog. And she's got a different history you're trying to overcome."

"But.."

"No buts. 'Cept maybe this one," he smirks as he slides his hand down your back and under your seat, giving it a soft squeeze. "Now come on. We got one night before your trip and I made your favorite meal. Lemme wine and dine you outta this funk."

You lean closer to him, if that's even possible, amazed at the way this gruff, scruffy man can say the softest things to ease your troubled mind. He never makes you feel a fool for the way you handle your shit, especially with Ginger. He just waits for you to ask for help unless he sees a danger, and even then he's so respectful as he passes on advice. He never tells you what to do.

"I need a shower. Do I have time?"

"Can you make it a quick one? I think the timer's gonna go off in about 10."

You nod and let him help you up, relaxing into the bear hug he pulls you into. He kisses the top of your head, then gives your ass another squeeze and a pat.

"Now git. And put on something comfy," he smiles as you head down the hall.

You’re dressed and at the table in 15, foregoing a hair wash in favor of picking out something a little less comfortable. It is your last night with Sy for a bit, after all. The quick, steamy shower helped release the last bit of tension left after Sy calmed you down, and now you really want to make the most of the evening.

“Woman, did you just want to skip dinner altogether?” Sy exclaims, as you set yourself down at the table, meal already served on the plate in your space.

“What? Does this not meet the dress code for this restaurant?” you smirk back at him, smoothing your hands over the lacy camisole set you picked out. “You certainly seem a little overdressed.”

Sy scoots out his chair, stands, and tosses his napkin on the table. “That’s it. I’m sure glad to see you’re feeling good already. Let’s see how much better I can make it.”

Meine #1 des Jahres 2022

It's a kids show. What do you all love so much about it?? The shows nowadays are so much better in so many ways.

Nostalgia :) Of course there are kids show's today with the perfect episode guide, important issues adressed and character development in every episode and better animation... BUT Defenders of the Earth still has a special place in my heart. I grew up with this show, my classmates watched it, we pretended to be the characters when we were playing together in the afternoon, and also there's still so much to discover these days about the heroes origins and their individual stories. Flash, The Phantom, Mandrake and Lothar have been around for so long, and there's much more to them than just DotE.

Maybe everyone can share their childhood memories and what the show means to them - I'm really interested to see if the show means as much to you as it means to me.

Not Enough Room

"You are too sweet."

"You really don't have too."

"No! I will be the sacrifice and sleep on the couch!"

"Kai, you really don't need to. I'm sure we can figure out a way for all of us to sleep together."

"Zane. I am good. I wouldn't want any of you to be on the couch. Just sleep in my bed. I sleep in it all the time! I need a break from it!" Kai combated with a chuckle and a smirk.

His charm always got the others convinced in these stupid situations like this. But, they were still reluctant to go into Kai's room to sleep in.

The three were basically forced into the room by Kai.

"Goodnight!" Kai exclaimed to their lovers. And with that, he closed the door to his own room.

Well, it wasn't exactly their room.

An incident happened with them, their sibling, and their dad.

It was the kids' final straw and they dipped out of that horrible household.

Wu was nice enough to help them out and let them live in the ninja base.

It was actually a pretty nice home.

Big space to play in, it's all quiet because the warehouse was away from the city by a good distance, and they didn't need to travel that far whenever they needed their mechs.

Kai walked over to the 'living' room.

Just a corner of the training room, away from the mechs and training equipment.

Then, they set up a makeshift bed. Folded up spare blankets to separate them from the rough fabric of the couch, and a loose, thin one folded even more than the others as a pillow.

They could have grabbed another blanket to cover themselves, but it was Summer. They would be fine without a cover.

It took a while, but he fell asleep.

A-T-3 115 OMD - Dazzle Ships

Ducktales Pt.2

Continuing my counter-narrative to tory stories about immigration, refugees, and asylum seekers they (con)fuse together under the slogan 'stop the small boats'

As we’ve seen with Small Boats (A-T-3 114), like we did with City Pop (A-T-3 095), and Origins Of Hip Hop (A-T-3 098), dates, events, circumstances, facts and figures used in narratives don’t have to be true they just need to sound convincing (like chatGPT)

The 'small boats' story appeals to what academics call 'directionally motivated reasoning.' This is when we seek out what we want to hear ('confirmation bias') and filter out everything we disagree with ('disconfirmation bias'), finding ideas and attitudes that match our own more convincing than those that don't

Empty container words such as 'woke' have become massively popular with grifters on the right. 'Woke' can stand in for any and all of a persons frustrations and neatly provides an 'other' to point at. There's a very funny interview from the other week with a conservative author who has written a book on the terrors of 'woke' culture not being able to explain what 'woke' is https://youtu.be/N-G50bhldQo. Calling 'woke' an empty container isn't entirely true, it's true when used by right-wing politicians and commentators, but as the presenter of the clip above correctly states 'woke' or 'stay woke' comes from Black activists call for awareness of (being awake to) racial injustice

Another word right-wingers have imported from America is referring to asylum seekers as 'illegal' when they are not. This is received wisdom, if it's repeated enough people will believe perfectly legal asylum seekers are in fact illegal, and we live in a hierarchical class-based socially conservative society (remember the queen's funeral) one where sadly people listen to their 'betters' even when they're completely untrustworthy

The picture above was made in Midjourney. I think the story it's trying to tell is trying to tell is problematic, it could be Home Secretary Suella Braverman coming to the UK on a 'small boat'. I don't think the image achieves 'putting Suella Braverman in the shoes of asylum seekers' worse I think it humanises her when she's really not a humanitarian. Braverman is hated on the left to the point it may support her ridiculous case, given the choice would you want Suella Braverman coming to the UK? Then there's here skin colour, to say she looks like an asylum seeker isn't on. Suella Braverman's interest is preserving the upper-classes

I prefer this one although it's a bit esoteric innit (unlike the image above)

The dazzle ship in this story is the Bibby Stockholm which has been used to house asylum seekers before with disastrous consequences, but this time it will be different, right! Well no, again it's virtue signalling. The Bibby Stockholm can accommodate up to 500 asylum seekers, the governments backlog of applications in 161,000, this proposal will house 0.3% of the people waiting to have their applications processed, we'd need 322 Bibby Stockholm's to accommodate everyone. Then there's the issue that the Bibby Stockholm is effectively a floating prison

OMD - Dazzle Ships the story goes as I understand it Mancunian graphic designer Peter Saville see's geordie vorticist Edward Wadsworth's 1919 painting Dazzle-ships in Drydock at Liverpool in Liverpool's Walker Art Gallery (one of my locals - check out his black and white prints from this period)

From there the concept for the album was born. Liverpool also has a copy of Audubon's Birds of America which takes pride of place in Liverpool Central Library. Audubon is coming under criticism in America with his name being removed from national bird watching societies because of his racist views and ownership of slaves
