i just read the perks of being a wallflower in one sitting. i used a tag for every song, book or movie mentioned and every time charlie wrote something i identified with. i made a playlist of every song charlie named, or that he had put on a mixtape. i am now rereading the book. i am annotating moments that stick out to me, adding personal memos and parts of my life that i can relate to what charlie experienced. i have already cried several times, even though i know what is going to happen because i've read it and seen the movie several times. i no longer feel like just a reader, instead a character experiencing life alongside charlie, and that is the beauty of literature. because as much as charlie will never know me, i will know him.
