i like the natsume dub, but i'm glad i watched it with subs first. for one thing, the japanese voice acting simply cannot be beat. for another, the dub translates nicknames into english - for instance, the little tatsumi that hatches from an egg, turning natsume into a teen dad, is called "eggy" in the dub instead of "tama" (which unless i'm mistaken is a shortened form of the japanese word for "egg") - which isn't a bad thing, but it does end up creating the possibility of a little misunderstanding once you get to taki's first episode. because if you couldn't hear the japanese, and you were accustomed to characters getting jokey english nicknames like eggy, and you heard that a character who hadn't talked for almost a year was named something that sounded phonetically like "talkie", would you assume that she had a completely different name in japanese that was a pun on the japanese word for "talk"? because that's probably what i would have assumed lol. but luckily i watched it in japanese with subs first, so. crisis averted!

A random DP idea

So, I recently read and finished this book called "Lost Boy" and Jamie says in the book that Peter doesn't require sleep and just takes short naps here and there.

So like, obviously my always full of fannon brain went "oh! That could be Danny too!"

And so, humans of whom breath the succulent oxygen that is ejaculated by trees, hear me out.

I know Danny being sleep deprived is prime.

But like, imagine the random shit this kid would do when he doesn't require more than a cat nap here and there?

Like- the moment he realizes he doesn't need to sleep as much anymore, bro would hella take advantage to finish his homework, then lay in bed bored out of his mind after having gotten tired of scrolling through his phone, and wishing a ghost would just pop up for once and then get sick of it and go "fuck it, i'ma learn how to chrochet"

nd a day later in the morning he just bardges into Jazz's room like "I MADE YOU A JACKET. ALSO, LIKE 7 NEW HEADBANDS. HERE'S A PLUSHY OF SATURN... OKAY BYE" or like him deciding he's gonna teach himself to bake and his family come down and bro made like a cake and 3 dozen cookies nd is just sitting there snacking on em like, "morning. I made cookies... And cake"

If we goin the DC route the Batfam just see him at random hours of the night nd r worried this kid isn't sleeping.

Meanwhile Danny decided to learn photography and just wanted some cool night shots, or hes taken up graffiti and there's this area where all graffiti artists go to paint on some walls. Danny always drops by at night cause just about nobody is there to bother him or see his eyes glowing like a mf cat, plus, he can float in peace to make bigger pieces.

This boy has so many skills he just decided to learn for the fuck of it cause he was finishing his homework too soon and he was getting really bored just laying in bed doing nothing.

Like everytime someone is surprised he knows something he's like "oh yeah, I learned that when I was bored"

I'd bet he'd have so many random facts cause he decided to look up random things on the internet.

He knows too many memes from the times he decided to scroll through his phone all night.

He'd know every feature his phone or laptop has cause he decided to fuk around with it.

He painted the whole solar system in his room or the planets and stars in perfect order cause he had just got the hang of painting and wanted his room to look cooler.

He takes up sowing cause he decided at ass crack o'clock that his costume finally needs adjustments and ends up creating a whole new costume.

ok I am a hater but it would do a lot of people who make "literary criticism" content a lot of good not to have bad faith readings of every stupid little word an author puts on paper

like I remember reading a sporking/blow-by-blow of some cassie clare book here on tumblr years ago, this character was saying shit that you were obviously supposed to find objectionable--because he was a villain and he was saying it to his traumatized mother who felt like a bad mom already because of the crap her husband pulled on her in the backstory--but then the person writing this critique went off on this tangent talking about how oh no ladies you aren't a bad mom just because of this that and the other thing and I was sitting there like, are you for fucking real right now, like they were acting like cc was sitting here saying "oh yes, this obvious bad guy is totally parroting my own opinions about women and moms in particular" I felt like I was idk I felt like I was going kinda crazy
