Twenty Questions: Fic Author Edition
tagged by @bodyelectric77 :)
1-How many works do you have on ao3?
111, lol
2-What's your total AO3 word count?
1,389,833 on AO3 officially
3-What fandoms do you write for?
Hunger Games by a wide margin, and then if I get rid of the one-offs here are the fandoms I've written for at least twice:
Hunger Games Trilogy - Suzanne Collins (75)
Temeraire - Naomi Novik (6)
Marvel Cinematic Universe (4)
Wynonna Earp (TV) (3)
Dragon Age (Video Games) (2)
King Lear - Shakespeare (2)
Wonder Woman (Movies - Jenkins) (2)
The Deed of Paksenarrion - Elizabeth Moon (2)
Star Wars Original Trilogy (2)
Stranger Things (TV 2016) (2)
4-What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
Slow Work (Steve/Bucky)
you can take the boy out of the desert (Luke Skywalker post-ANH)
Patience, Friend (Temeraire, Volly's hatching)
Embrace the Fire: The Avenger Games
welcome to your gory bed (Hunger Games, victor backstories)
5-Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
I really, really want to, because comments make me SO SO SO happy, and I occasionally have some wonderful people who go through and comment on every single thing I've written which is the DREAM -- but I don't always have the mental bandwidth to do it. So let me just say right now that if you've ever left a comment I have read it, and I loved it, and you made my day better.
6-What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
Uhhhh .... there are a lot. People can cast their votes on this one, but I'd say maybe Ambrosia or Don't Flinch?
7-What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
I had to leave THG for this one, lol. But I think Impossible Magic, which is a fix-it for the Enchanted Forest Chronicles that solves something that bugged me about a series I otherwise adore.
8-Do you get hate on fics?
the real ones will remember, lol. I had one specific reader who would leave, like, novel-length comments on every single chapter of every single fic about everything he hated / disagreed with. My favourite was the list of my D2 victors in order of who he hoped would get killed off from most to least (Petra was at the top and Emory was at the bottom SORRY MAN). I honestly don't know why he was still reading if everything annoyed him so much, lmao.
If ever I get a mean anon I delete it though. You won't catch me responding to anon hate.
9-Do you write smut? If so what kind?
Not....... really. I write sex in very specific situations but it's usually to serve a purpose and I'm kind of ... vague about it, even when I think I'm being explicit (for me). I'm sure people could pick out sex written by me pretty easily. It's not exactly fade to black because that implies skipping to later, this is more like ... elisions, I guess.
10-Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written?
Very famously, yes. I'm not sure what I'd consider the weirdest one. Temeraire / THG victors as dragons? Watership Down / THG rabbits?
11-Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Fanfic, no, I don't think so, but I have had original stories stolen and put up on Amazon. It's the reason I took down my FictionPress account and have all my original things locked on LJ / DW.
12-Have you ever had a fic translated?
I have!
Я хочу увидеть тебя храброй | I wanna see you be brave
【授权翻译】Don't Flinch/无所畏惧 | Don't Flinch.
13-Have you ever cowritten a fic before?
Yes, several! My usual co-conspirators are azelmaroark, @kawuli, @penfoldx and @xanify
14-What's your all-time favorite ship?
96 out of my 111 fics on AO3 are gen, so that should give you my answer on that one, lol.
15-What's a WIP you want to finish, but doubt you ever will?
Never say never???? But sadly, probably the Portal/Emory's Games crossover if only because all the notes on the super complicated Arena were on a computer that died and I don't remember anything
16-What are your writing strengths?
Character and feelings, babeyyyyy. Also my hallmark is making people care (or at least think) about characters they absolutely despised before
17-What are your writing weaknesses?
Plot is hard. Every time I think I've done something complicated I'll read a book by someone with an actual intricate plot and need to lie down for 500 hours
18-Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?
Nah. Generally I use dialogue tags to tell the reader what language is being spoken
19-First fandom you wrote for?
Star Wars, when I was 12, though it was just me and my bff. Dragon Ball Z was the first time I actually realized fandom was a Thing
20-Favorite fic you've ever written?
I will always have a soft spot for Fixed to a Star, I think
tagging whoever wants to play -- I've been offline for a while so i don't know who's done it!

Wip Wednesday
tagged by @eriquin 💕
we're back babeyyyyy its been a wild fuckin Wednesday im now calling "Oh My God What Now?" Wednesday after all the little shit that keeps happening. I'll mostly be getting to these late tonight or Thursday since i close
Rules
I've modified this a lot but basically i have several chapter titles and you guys can send asks for specific ones and I'll answer them with a snippet from that chapter either newly written or recently edited!
Wips
we're following the chapter titles format because i think that worked best (and i finished my other writing wip 🕺) so here we have chapters 7-9 plus prequel alt pov chapter .5? chapter 0? who knows
The Karen POV prequel chapter
Ohana means family, family means no one gets left behind or forgotten (gUYS WHAT THE FUCK)
Steve are you okay, are you okay Steve?
What's this, the consequences of my actions? (Is that a motherfucking lovejoy reference?!)
Kidnapping? No. Surprise Adoption
Snippet
i cannot stress enough i don't have time but this part is sacred. Steve Henderson au, steve and kids arrive at tunnels and steve cant do shit to stop them
The kids jumped out as soon as the car stopped, not waiting to turn it off or anything, leaving him slouched in the backseat. He grabbed at the seats then side on the car to get out and follow, but he overestimated and sent himself tumbling to the ground out the passenger’s door.
“Guys..” he huffed, looking for them. They were all huddled by the open trunk, grabbing stuff stashed inside. His limbs failing him again, he pulled himself up using the door, flinging his weight to rest in the corner it made so he could properly see them. They were putting on goggles and had fabric covering their mouths like makeshift protective gear.
“Oh no..” They’re going in there. They’re going to get themselves killed. “Guys.”
They ignored him and Mike hiked over to the front of the car, purposefully around him.
“Hey, where d’you think you’re going?”
Mike ignored him.
“What, are you deaf? Hellooo?” They all kept ignoring him, they’re all ignoring him, “We are not going down there right now, I made myself clear!” he yelled, trying to get ahold of any of them but everyone managed to avoid him easily.
“There’s no chance we’re going to that hole, alright!”
Still ignored.
Like he's not even here.
He marched to Dustin, still at the trunk, leaning on the car.
“This ends right now!” and shoved a bag back in the trunk and turned to go to the others.
“Steve!”
oops forgot tags first time, real quick @stobinesque @marvel-ous-m @itswhatyougive @wuffgang-ameowdeus-moozart @spoookysix and anyone that wants to!

gyro! what's your favorite part of the writing process? the one that makes you go "hell yeah" or when things start falling into place? how do you first approach an idea and decide it's one you can really mold into something?
KAAATE!!!!
omg tough call, but my favorite part has to be that special feeling i get when i’m like… 3/4 done with meeting whatever goal i’ve set for a project! the feeling of accomplishment at the fact i’ve made it so far into something—combined with the relief of knowing the end is realistically within reach. i struggle a LOT with the mid-point of projects (i am sure you have heard me wail about the 10k curse…) but once i reach a place where i can push through the insecurity i remember exactly why i love, love, love writing so much. there’s nothing like it. every new story is an attempt to chase that high lmao
when i first approach an idea, the thing that determines whether or not it’s going to become something is whether or not i can see the big picture before details start falling into place. if i have a clear picture of a story’s beginning/middle/end, even if it’s just one scene for each segment, then i know it’s an idea i can pursue without writing myself into a hole. maybe that sounds super basic, but every time i try to work on a story without even the barest outline, it always fizzles out after a few thousand words and i feel worse in the end (!)
it’s why i love having one big master list document instead of a million smaller WIPs! i can write down ideas, inspiration, etc. as they come without feeling pressured to work on anything to completion until the idea grows big enough to earn its own document/outline. i’ve talked a little about my outlining process before, but i am a HUGE “write before anything gets written” person so every single idea gets a lot of molding (that’s such a good word for it omg) before it actually becomes a story, haha. inevitably, things always change once the real writing starts, but having a really firm foundation always helps me push through even when i’m struggling. being able to check things off the outline, knowing what exciting stuff is on the horizon for a story—and ultimately get to write the parts that really get my heart racing—that’s what makes it all worth it, babeyyyyy!!!
thank you for the ask!! aflfkfkd CANT WAIT FOR YOUR NEXT FIC!!!

what are all your wips? not asking to post the excerpts themselves but like. what fics are you working on / plan to do? if you dont mind sharing your secret plans…… :)
I don’t mind at all! I love talking about my fics/wips, thanks for asking!!!
Prepare yourself for a BIG LIST of fics, some of which that have been half-published, and also some that haven’t yet seen the light of day :)
The Twilight Turns — true form au! Midna gets her true form back WAY earlier than in canon, and this leads to both her and Link catching quite a few feelings. The next chapter is sort of on pause until I get around to playing the part I’m at in-game.
Royal Castletown Wedding — a fic that started as a joke post, I stole the plot of a my little pony episode and lu-ified it. If you think it is just fluffy silliness than you are wrong. I’ve hit the climax, and there’s only a few chapters left of this one!
Brethren in a Cradle — *gently holds* my very special multichap fic I haven’t updated in months (I’M SORRY) about Wild, as well as the rest of the chain, stumbling across a baby and having no other options, take him with them. Warriors had snuck his way into the focus as well. The next chapter IS being worked on, just verrrry slowly. This fic means a lot to me and I’m NOT giving up on it.
Up in Arms — Warriors loses an arm during the war, and struggles immensely with coming to terms with it. Fortunately he ends up with 8 other heroes who are more than willing to help. First chapter of this is up, the second and third (fourth?) chapters are in progress.
The Many Courses of Love — a fic exploring all the different relationships of the Links after their adventures, a chapter per game. This one isn’t lu, (it’s actually connected to my own Link’s meet thing) but I’m very attached to it. Next couple chapters are being worked on, but aren’t very close to finished XD
Unnamed Time & Legend fic — angst/whump/hurt/comfort o-rama. This one is a continuation of a whumptober I wrote in 2021, but it can honestly stand on its own. Everyone, especially Time and Legend, has a Bad Time. A specific secret is also revealed. Planning on finishing this one entirely and releasing the couple chapters it has on a schedule.
Unnamed breath of the wild aftermath/Dark Link fic — a multichap I’ve had cooking for years, after the events of botw the Yiga decide revenge is due, and steal some of Link’s blood to make a copy of him to kill him. Except they don’t account for Zelda’s magic accidentally getting mixed up in there, and they make... a pretty sweet guy who has no clue what’s going on. The first chapter of this is done actually, but I don’t want to post it because the rest is... nowhere near done in any way XD
Incredibles au main story — the entire dang movie as an lu fic, I’m chipping away at it when I can! Not ready to be published yet, but I’m working on it :)
Incredibles au Hyrule backstory — this one is close to being done, it’s about how Hyrule ended up with the rest of the boys
Unnamed Warriors and Hyrule fic — the traveler and captain couldn’t be more unalike, but it turns out they’re connected by much more than they previously thought. This one is on the back burner, but I work on it occasionally. Thinkin it’ll be one of those 5 + 1 fics the kids do.
Unnamed Warriors and Mask/Time fic — traitor angst babeyyyyy! I’m stuck on this one, don’t know when it’ll be done.
Fic for Tellie — (yes that’s the working title) set in her palace au, it’s almost done :)
Courage of Ages — aaauuuggghh my own Link’s meet au thing, it’s been on the back burner as well, but I love it so and love questions about it. It’ll be publishable someday...
Tri Force Heroes oneshot collection — a bunch of oneshots about Tri force heroes, plus post-game backstory stuff with my versions of these guys :)
Assorted requests sitting in my inbox from ages ago — *sweating* ages ago I asked for some fic ideas, several of which are... still sitting in my inbox, unanswered. I’ve barely worked on them, but I’ll do them eventually!
There’s a few more not on this list, but they’re either self-indulgent things I’ll never publish, ideas that are barely formed or I haven’t started writing as of yet, or fics I started but didn’t continue and haven’t touched in months.
Anyways whew, I think that’s it! I’m always willing to answer questions about all of these, so don’t be shy!

SPLINTER CELL OC TIME BABEYYYYY
meet kosma majewski (aka: łucja majewska). born in 1967, kosma is a closeted transmasc (genderqueer) lesbian within the echelon program who uses she/they/xe pronouns.
when they're on the clock, they respond to łucja, in addition to her various callsigns (hound, basilisk, ibis, scratch, and cosmos). off the clock, xe answers simply to kosma.
picutred above is their look throughout the splinter cell timeline:
the left image is what she looked like when first joining the echelon program (sometime in the late 80s)
the middle image is what she looked like around the time the third echelon conspiracy happened (circa 2011)
the right image is what she looks like around the time of operation checkmate (circa 2025)
backstory and specific plot-points are very much wip, but there are some small notes i have:
in xyr later 20s/early 30s, kosma starts microdosing testosterone through third-party avenues. any changes (such as voice changes, acne, facial hair, period cessation, etc etc) are explained in a variety of different ways to keep any suspicions on the downlow (example: "oh, i started a new birth control and it's having some side effects)
the only people that really knows about their "double life" are the people in their family. would they like to be out? sure, but the line of work & time period aren't exactly the friendliest circumstances. that said, she enjoys that it gives her an edge in terms of anonymity (atop the various other aliases xe would use on long-term missions/assignments)

Fic writer asks
Tagged by @bidoofenergy
Ao3 name: eatgreass
Main fandoms: right now? Obsessed with the Iliad and arthuriana. All time? Most of my fics are 3rd life, tma, rqg, and hamlet.
Works: 112! Most were written during Covid and I don’t recommend reading anything I wrote before I started college but I’m also not taking anything down from an archive.
Work I spent the most time on: a Grimm world indeed. It was one of my favorite things to write and I’m very very proud of it. I started it in January 2021 and finished it august 2023. That’s nearly three years.
Work I spent the least time on: probably this. Not my favorite thing I’ve written but I needed to write it at the time, so it sticks around.
Longest fic: also a Grimm world indeed. 132079 words babeyyyyy. I need two Google docs to write it cause at the halfway point my computer started crashing when I opened it.
Shortest fic: hamlet in Latin, 116 words. Written as an exercise in composition. No, I’m not linking it.
Most hits: a doorway, probably because it’s a tma fic and therefore one of my bigger fandoms.
Most kudos: I’ve been chronically tired since high school. I also got the kindest comments on that fic!
Word count: 486842. Let’s goooooo.
Favorite work of my own: either I’ve been chronically tired since high school (it was really fun to write, y’all) or one of my Iliad fics cause my Iliad fics don’t get enough hits.
Fic you want to rewrite/expand on: I think that my series the knights of the round table could definitely be rewritten. As for expand, I’m constantly thinking about my that college au I never thought I’d write series.
Share a bit of a wip: woe translation of Gawain and the green knight be upon ye:
“No, I tell you in faith I seek no fight.
Here on this bench I see beardless children.
If I were clad in arms on a huge steed
There are no men to match me, their mights so weak.
I desire a christmas game in this court,
For it is yule and new year, and there are many here.
If any in this house thinks himself so hardy
With such bold blood, such brave mind,
That dare to strike one stroke for another
I will gift him this great battle-axe
This axe, that is huge enough for him to hold as he likes,
And I shall bear the first blow as a sit here.”
Tagging @sharpilu @eyelessfog and anyone else who wants to participate! Thank you so much for tagging me!

My babe, light of my life, I’m here to ask about WIPs! Uhhh how about fight fight fight, grocery thing, and/or djarins arrive?? Also I’m a hoe for boba so the number of potential works brings me joy
aw YEAH babe thank u for fuelling my narcissism and hyperfixation here we GO
check under the cut if you’re interested in some shitty unfinished sNeAk PeAkS
aight so fight fight fight is part of the modern!au and it’s basically what it says on the tin - boba gets into a fight and there’s some tending to wounds at the end. there’s a lot of tension and pining and maybe angst because they argue a LOT these idiots
“What are you doing?” you hiss, not really caring for an answer but demanding one anyway. But Boba’s not even looking at you, glowering at the other man menacingly even with the helmet between. You bring your other palm to his chest and try to push him back, pull him to the side, anything to get him to leave this stupidity.
He doesn’t so much as sway on his feet, remaining firm and tall and angry as he shrugs your hold off. His hand — non-dominant, you realise later, the one you’re not standing next to — lashes out to strike the man viciously on the side of his head.
You see a flash of the other man flinching to the side, knocking […] to the floor tiles, his hand swinging up blindly before—
Thud.
A burst of pain shatters through your right temple.
grocery thing, also part of the modern!au, was meant to be an interlude of sorts. reader and boba aren’t exactly on speaking terms at this point even though they both want to be. yeah i will write the reader to be a stubborn fool it’s called projection babes 💋✨
You whirl round, just for the words to shrivel up and die in your mouth. There’s a pathetic choke that, you realise later, bubbles up from your throat.
Because looming over you is a sight you haven’t seen in weeks. You see your face distorted in a smooth glass T-visor, set in a weathered, god-awful green helmet.
“Boba.”
You say his name so dumbly that you cringe immediately after. How many times have you rehearsed what you’d say to him? Fancy seeing you here. Look what the cat dragged in. You moron.
I missed you.
He takes a step back, and it is only then that you realise how close he was before. Completely in your space as you leaned against the racks. A while ago, that would’ve bothered you. Hell — a while ago, you would have noticed. Why didn’t you now?
You give him a once-over, as if you’re checking for the same scrapes and bruises and split lip all over again. As if weeks haven’t gone by without so much as a breath in the other’s direction. He looks… the same. You can’t say good, because Boba’s never been one to care about appearances beyond ‘presentable’ and it shows in his day-to-day. The same olive-green bomber jacket. The same pair of braids, fastened to his shoulder. The same well-worn jeans. And of course, the same goddamn helmet — complete with its dent and intimidating glare.
He looks normal. Safe, healthy. Which is more than you can ask for, really. Since it’s none of your business.
While you fumble for words, scrambling for something, anything to say to him, Boba hold out a fist. Measured and firm, like all his movements are.
From his hand dangles the bag of limes.
and djarin’s arrive is from a paz x mando!reader thing i’ve been thinking about! au where the covert is FINE thank u very much. also big bratty sibling energy between the reader and din dfdkfdfhdf catch me writing better platonic relationships than romantic huh
You crack a smile at the barb. Din, resolutely not facing the taller man, grunts. You suspect he’ll be doing a lot of that while he’s here. From behind, Paz uses both gloved hands to press down on both your helmets with just enough force to be annoying. Such a child when he wants to be. Both of them, really.
A half-smile on your face, you swat at the pesky Infantry soldier’s arm, and the pressure from above vanishes before you feel a distinct plink on the back of your helm.
Flicking? Really?
Before you can turn around to give Paz a piece of your mind, you hear his voice. Right in your ear, had it been uncovered.
“Make sure he doesn’t blow anything up, baar’ur’ika,” he mutters, barely loud enough for your sensors to pick up yet resonating through your beskar, through your mind. You can hear the smirk in his voice. Maker, he didn’t even touch you — yet the remnants of that closeness lie heavy in your chest. By the time you recover from the low, rolling growl in your ear, Paz is gone.
Leaving you with Din. Who is suspiciously quiet.
“W-what?”
“Hm?” Din’s helmet turns back to you, and it’s only then that you realise he wasn’t staring at all. Either you’re self-absorbed, or Din is oblivious.
Must be the latter.
that’s all for now folks
come scream at me! i like talking to people :)

wednesday: name a fic which you have posted which you think is underrated? I think the two mob!harry series is pretty underrated. It gained a small but fierce following tho, which I'm so grateful for!
friday: most self-indulgent fic you have ever posted? any of the actress!reader fics lmao, but especially art imitates life imitates art
fortnight: what wip do you plan on posting next, if at all? i might just tackle that little harry and bel family blurb 😏

Hey your zine looks amazing! Any tips on making one for someone who's never made one before?
just wing it because i also had no experience organizing zines.
(keep in mind i’m talking out of my ass here and i only have ONE zine under my belt and a digital-only one at that, but there are a bazillion guides on zine organizing out there. check those out and learn from what other people have done)
go small at first. work out how you’re gonna distribute it. i’d advice you to launch a small personal project on whatever platform you’re distributing on first before you tackle getting into a zine with other people. tbf my freemance smut pack was a bit of a test run for me to organize and distribute this zine because i got acquainted with how gumroad works lul. :^) (gotta get my plug in babeyyyyy go check out my pr0n!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
get some co-mods. i can’t imagine how stressful it would have been to keep track of everyone’s work and answer everyone’s questions if i didn’t have @skellagirl and @bearanium helping me. i have real bad ADHD and i’ve been working on my masters thesis at the same time i did this. i would not have had the mental energy to answer simple questions or contact everyone if i didn’t have help from my two great co-mods.
at a point in the organizing process i had to take a week off because i was mentally drained. i communicated that to my co-mods and they were there to hold the fort in my absence. none of them had zine organizing experience before this either, but having other people to help steer the ship really helps!
if you’re an illustrator with no graphic design experience, get someone who can help you with the graphic design bits. i’m shit at that and while i did do stuff like the contributor list layout and previews on my own, it was great to have someone at least tell me if i was committing crimes against good taste, hook me up with some nice fonts, and approve my work. (thx @ulisaypo)
spreadsheets are your friend.
having a scheduled plan is your friend too.
give yourself a good leeway on the final deadline in order to make up for unexpected delays. that way you can give your collaborators extensions if someone can’t make the final deadline for some reason.
have backup contributors ready in case someone drops out or cancels last minute.
communicate with your collaborators. even if you get delayed or have a setback, it’s better to let everyone know rather than letting people hang in uncertainty.
discord worked nicely for updating people about deadlines, and seeing people share their WIPs and give each other feedback and get excited about each other’s work was super heartwarming. you need those nice mental boosts to get you through the organizing process.
if you’ve never done this before, give yourself a reasonable deadline to compile the final thing in case something unexpected happens. and then add more time on top of that because you WILL probably need it.
for instance, i took so long to wrap up the zine because i was busy with school; built a new computer and had to download all my files (personal and the zine’s) from the cloud because i accidentally wiped my hard drive; @ulisaypo who did our logo and helped me with graphic design had some unexpected personal events delayed her submissions; and i’d never used illustrator to assemble a zine before so i was malding at it for a good few hours at first. life WILL throw you curve balls, you just have to adjust.
and last of all have fun! completing a project, seeing it all come together and seeing people respond to it is the best part, and it’s worth getting there!
