Ok so I loved this line during the regeneration
Tumblr media
I was wondering if it was a poetry reference, because 13 has had a few of those before. It turns out it's from an interview of the writer Dennis Potter, while he was dying of cancer, describing how much more strongly he felt connected to the present
"and looking at it, instead of saying "Oh that's nice blossom" ... last week looking at it through the window when I'm writing, I see it is the whitest, frothiest, blossomest blossom that there ever could be, and I can see it."
I just read the whole interview and god, what a thing to connect to thirteen in her last moments, what a thing for her to think of. It really ties into her desire to live in the now and not the past or future, her request to yaz, "can't we just live in the present" . It is just making me bawl my eyes out now thinking about the doctor thinking about this particular interview when regenerating, because she doesn't get a future, or really a past, she only has her now as herself, her past and future belong to someone else. Here's another bit from the interview that is making me go insane
"And we forget or tend to forget that life can only be defined in the present tense; it is is, and it is now only. I mean, as much as we would like to call back yesterday and indeed yearn to, and ache to sometimes, we can't. It's in us, but we can't actually; it's not there in front of us. However predictable tomorrow is, and unfortunately for most people, most of the time, it's too predictable, they're locked into whatever situation they're locked into ... Even so, no matter how predictable it is, there's the element of the unpredictable, of the you don't know. The only thing you know for sure is the present tense, and that nowness becomes so vivid that, almost in a perverse sort of way, I'm almost serene. You know, I can celebrate life."
Of course she went into it smiling and joking, it's now!! Her life!! She's celebrating!!
"But the nowness of everything is absolutely wondrous, and if people could see that, you know. There's no way of telling you; you have to experience it, but the glory of it, if you like, the comfort of it, the reassurance ... not that I'm interested in reassuring people - bugger that. The fact is, if you see the present tense, boy do you see it! And boy can you celebrate it"
You can read the interview here

Can you do the "all the Doctors" thing, but what would they do if they started a band?
I certainly can!
One: Gets gently pushed into it by Vicki. Can actually play the piano rather well, and starts chuckling to themselves when he starts getting into it. Ian and Barbara got a little sick of the solos after over half an hour, though.
Two: You'd think that a recorder wouldn't be a good instrument to play in a band, but you would be as pleasantly surprised as Two was. Gets on surprisingly well with the hippie crowd, although Jamie has to keep them from getting pulled into smoking illicit substances which may or may not be legal. With time lords, who knows what the effects could be?
Three: Can practically play any instrument given to them because "my dear fellow, it would be vain to explain why". Jo loves it when they play Beatles songs. Has an unfortunate habit of playing in venues that later get attacked or blown up by the Masters scheme of the week.
Four: Pulls the weirdest looking string instument you've ever seen out of their enormous coat, plays some weird jazz-fusion stuff that sounds like a cat making love to a washing machine, grins unnervingly and walks off stage. The stage is a random cafe that hadn't even asked them to play. No-one ever speaks of it again, just in case they come back.
Five: Likes to play ABBA on the rhythym guitar, much to the amusement of their kids young friends. Insists on explaining the themes of each song before starting. Has an unfortunate habit of falling over halfway through their set and knocking themselves unconscious. Given the time period, they often get requests to play "That's Entertainment"; doesn't mind playing it but wishes Tegan and Nyssa would stop sneaking away halfway through to snog in a cupboard somewhere.
Six: Loves playing the drums. Their main inspiration is Keith Moon. Mel says it's good exercise for them. Peri is just glad that they don't wear their coat whilst trashing about with the drumsticks, because that would be a chasm too far.
Seven: Spoons. Ace rolls her eyes but knows that they enjoy it. Is surprisingly popular amongst latter-day beatniks and jazz fans. Often gives some lecture after each song. The difference is that, unlike with Five, people actually listen instead of groaning.
Eight: Just has to sing. You would not be able to stop them. They are surprisngly good at it, although sometimes you wonder whether the words have a hidden meaning.
War: Doesn't play anything, for obvious reasons.
Nine: Bass guitar, and in a very no-nonsence sort of way. Can get down and be funky with it. Rose loves it, and enjoys dancing along, which makes Nine very happy.
Ten: Maraccas, weirdly enough, and often with Donna. Both of them are laughing. The rest of the band doesn't really understand why but it seems to work so who cares?
Eleven: Glockenspiel. No, seriously. Amy and Rory don't know where it came from, and it's actually starting to get a little worrying. Especially when Eleven insists on practicing at 3am with no warning.
Twelve: Lead guitar, obviously. Nothing but shredding solos and awesome punk-style riffs. The fact that they don't have a top-selling album is mindboggling.
Thirteen: Fiddle in a folk-punk-fusion band. Very good at it and is having the time of their life. Loves to dance whilst playing. The happy love songs are their favourite, but has a habit of tripping over their feet on stage if they catch Yaz smiling at them.
Fugitive: Doesn't play anything; again, for obvious reasons.
TenThree/David Doctor/ sorry-mr-tennant-i-cannot-call-you-fourteen: Traded in the maraccas for a trumpet. Donna has a trumpet now too. Things seem to be going well for them.
Fifteen: Sampler. Creates tons of exciting sounds based on all of their previous lives, blending them together in a hopeful, joyeous mix. Well, so far anyway. We'll have to wait and see...
Thanks for the ask!

So I've finished the 13th Doctor's seasons and I was really worried starting out because I've heard a lot of people say the writing is shitty. But now that I'm done... I don't really have anything to be angry at tbh. Like I'm not an expert reviewer so I don't know, it probably is more egregiously bad than I think it is but it just feels like... Nothing. Only like a couple of the episodes have left big impressions on me. A lot of them are just freaking boring and it really comes down to the fact that the characters are so freaking dull.
I saw one person say "they just split one personality four ways with Graham getting most of it" which I think perfectly describes my feelings towards them. Ryan and Yaz have virtually nothing to their characters except for some factors that are barely addressed like Ryan's dyspraxia and issues with his father and Yaz's crush on the Doctor. Like hell even freaking Dan feels like more of a character than them somehow.
And the Doctor herself... Obviously I'm not blaming Jodie Whittaker, she did really well with what she was given, but to me at least she just feels like a toned down version of the 11th Doctor. And like I'm just really disappointed because I was kinda excited to see her Doctor because I had heard that the writers intentionally wrote her as autistic which I thought would be interesting since all the other Doctors were just accidentally written that way. And I can see the seeds of some interesting plotlines. Like they use the Timeless Child plotline as a sort of explanation for why she was and always felt so different from other people of her species and essentially why she acts so autistic. They could've used this as an opportunity to really analyze her behavior and you know create some allegories for neurodivergence or just have her companions explicitly acknowledge how the way she acts aligns with autism. But no they don't do that and obviously a big part of all this writing is the fact that they have a shorter amount of episodes but they don't know how to properly use that time. They mention how the Doctor is socially awkward and doesn't really know who she is anymore but they don't properly delve into her psyche like in previous iterations. And this is because again they have three companions so they have to give all of them something to do but again because there are three of them neither of them can get a great deal of focus either and just ugh.
Like the Doctor should've just had Graham, and maybe his wife Grace who I'm still kinda disappointed they killed off in the first freaking episode, as a companion. Because pretty much all of the Doctor's companions have been women in their early twenties and I think it would've been interesting to switch things up like this. Also again with Grace I feel like it would've been more impactful if we had gotten a full season or even half a season with her before she died. Oh and I would've liked for Graham's cancer to play more of a role with it maybe coming back and him going on constant adventures with the Doctor and trying to do as much as he can before he dies. It would've been really interesting to see a companion die of something completely normal yet unavoidable after having survived all of these dangerous adventures. It would've been really sad to see the Doctor just trying to keep it all together and make Graham happy when she can't do anything about him slowly dying in front of her.
Overall the 13th Doctor's seasons were just full of missed opportunities and it's incredibly saddening.

yeah baby!
i have watched the tsuranga conundrum and it is SO good!
the bit of banter at the beginning to let us know they've been traveling together for a while and give a longer measure of time to the series!
the doctor freaking out about losing the TARDIS because that's her ship, that's her home, someone's going to take her, she can't lose anything else–
the way astsos grabs her and tells her she's being selfish and she pauses and realizes that he's right, that there are people who need help and if she is the doctor she will help them first and worry about herself later.
everything about astos, actually.
Tumblr media
she doesn't like being told what to do.
the way the doctor actually gets to be injured, and she moves through it because she's used to it, she's done it before and will do it again but the way it's so visible in her body language and voice and it lasts and isn't played off in a second and ignored.
i kept worrying they were going to play yoss off for a joke, and expecting graham to be an asshole about it (i don't know why, he's beating all the allegations, he is a lovely middle aged man with useful life skills who is cool and hip with the times and is just trying to do his best by his teenage step-grandson) but it actually ended up being really sweet and the funny bits were actually funny and not haha thinly-veiled transphobia
Tumblr media
speaking of graham just look at him. he's just a guy. i love him.
AND
THE DOCTOR
aaaaaaaa look i know it takes a bit to adjust to a new doctor, and i. hated ten. when i started season two. i did not like him. but i thought eleven was excellent in his first episode, and i'd known twelve already and got so excited to see him, so it took me a minute to get used to thirteen.
even accounting for that, it feels like the first four episodes were still adjusting to jodie whittaker as the doctor. some of the dialogue was a little awkward, and there were really good moments (tea at yaz's! the showdown moment in rosa!) but generally it just felt a little clunky and out of rhythm.
and in this episode! it! clicked!
i've decided i would die for thirteen, actually.
how she meets the general and goes so hard on being a fan, 'oh no doctor is a very common name! i'm not important! ...i think it was more like a volume, not a chapter'.
the way she's so determined to do this, to save everyone, and she doesn't know how yet but she's going to.
Tumblr media
the particle accelerator speech. god, this bit. i rewatched it four times. she's just. something about the doctor talking about 'old' technology with a hushed awe and appreciation, talking about science like it's poetry, loving the basic facts of how the universe operates, is just. god.
and especially the ending, how she figures out a way to save them and make the p'ting happy. there was a little bit of it with the big spider, but she moved on very quickly there. here, it's just a side moment, barely even mentioned, but even just the comment about how it isn't trying to hurt anyone, just feed itself–
i love this show.

I am just going to be chewing on that Chris Chibnall podcast interview forever. Just red-string-conspiracy-board, on-the-other-hand, back-and-forth thoughts forever.
Because on the one hand, I think I agree with him that 13 and Yaz not kissing is the more heartbreaking narrative choice. To have them both know what they want, and know that the other one knows and wants the same, but never quite being able to get there... that's devastating. Living with the "what if"s for both of them, forever, even as it's a choice the Doctor's made for them - and most especially for herself - to try and spare some of that pain. It's meant as a kindness for both of them... but is it? They'll never really find out.
(And especially considering what Chibnall said about a) the Doctor not wanting to do to Yaz what he did to Rose, and b) the EotD-PotD three-part story arc being, essentially, the Doctor preparing Yaz to be without her. Considering that narrative arc I am even more convinced that the Doctor's "you know what this means, right?" - and the fact that Yaz DOES know - when her hand starts glowing means that they talked. A lot. Maybe not about everything, but about a lot of things. Because we've seen Yaz push back on the Doctor's secretive bullshit, but she doesn't here, because she doesn't have to. The arc culminates in the companions as a whole, and Yaz especially, literally being "the power of the Doctor." YAZ DOCTORIFICATION *ahem*)
I'm not entirely convinced that I agree that getting the ice cream scene on the TARDIS roof means you could have that OR a kiss. I mean, maybe my shipper heart wants to have my cake and eat it too.
But the editor in me wouldn't have put the kiss at the end, in that case, as a goodbye.
I would've put it right after Yaz helps the Doctor un-regenerate and come back into herself. When she stumbles out of the box and into Yaz's (and yes, also Vinder's, shhh) arms and says she's got a "whole new lease of life."
Because she thinks, in that moment, she has more time. And if she has more time, if they've beaten Time's prophecy, if that was it and they won, then maybe that mental calculus is different. Maybe that's a beginning and not an ending.
But then of course, they run out of time anyway.

an attempt to summarise my TPOTD thoughts
YAZ/MANDIP:
mandip gill, i love you forever. her acting in the scene where thirteen's hand starts glowing? i will be haunted by that forever, congratulations. girl knows how to cry.
yasmin fucking khan, best companion. BEST companion. she saved the doctor, she got everyone together, she took the lead when she needed to, she piloted the TARDIS when it counted (the fact that she still had her post-it notes 🥺) she really became the doctor when the doctor was gone. loml.
yaz carrying the doctor will never ever stop being so amazing. ever. i'm convinced she kisses thirteen on the cheek also. fight me.
THASMIN:
SPEAKING OF KISSING. there was a noticeable lack of it. to be fair, it wasn't NECESSARY. i do think we, and they, deserved it though. also see this parallel? rude.
i can get over the no-kiss, eventually. i cannot get over the no hug!!!!!
and i ABSOLUTELY CAN NEVER GET OVER the fact that yaz wasn't allowed a proper reason to leave the TARDIS. you know how we've all been saying 'i can't see any reason for yaz to leave the TARDIS willingly', guess what, NEITHER CAN CHIBS!!!! 😭
but seriously, it didn't need much. all it needed was an extra 2 minutes of just thasmin and i'd have nothing bad to say about this episode.
if they'd just added a couple of minutes at the end of yaz explaining to the doctor how much she loves her (onto that in a minute) but how she doesn't feel like she can stay when she'll look at 'MY doctor' and see someone else, especially after the master thing.
MORE THASMIN:
so, i'm actually quite pleased with what thirteen said to yaz. the 'my hearts are so full of love of all of you' was a bit like,,,, yes i know the fam need a shout-out but don't be scared BBC, she's allowed to just love yaz too. same with 'and she is loved', like always it has to be from the fam, not just from yaz.
however, the next line, 'i have loved being with you, yaz' was BRILLIANT. that's the closest we're gonna get for a while to the doctor actually saying 'i love you' and i think yaz understands that too.
what i DIDN'T like was the fact that it didn't go 'i have loved being with you, yaz' 'i love you too, bighead' or something similar. because yaz never got to tell the doctor her feelings. dan did a great job, sure, but she never got to vocalise them, and i wish she did.
sure, she spent the whole episode DEMONSTRATING that she loves the doctor, arguably the whole last 3 seasons. but i wish she'd got to say the words. the opportunity was right there.
REGEN:
the regeneration was beautiful. again, same as with thasmin. what we were given was 10/10, BUT we should have been given a bit more!!! thirteen deserved a slightly longer speech, i don't think it necessarily had to be super long, but maybe a little more than what she got.
her last line was perfect though. i wouldn't change a thing. 'doctor whoever-i-am-next. tag, you're it.' PERFECT thirteen.
her regeneration's tone kept in-line with the past too. the doctor growing up. from ten's 'i don't want to go' to eleven accepting it but being very very sad, to twelve using it as an opportunity to shape his next self, to thirteen not only accepting it, bu embracing it. seeing one last sunrise. taking it as something beautiful. because it was.
CLASSIC STUFF:
THE RETURNING DOCTORS WERE PERFECT. i was worried they wouldn't be able to find a natural way to put returning characters in and it would feel clunky, but it was flawless.
i'd heard rumours about five, six, and seven, but one and eight were totally unexpected. paul mcgann, national treasure. plus jo martin!!!!! she wasn't there for long but it was very her, very badass, plus i loved the fact that it was yaz's idea (more on that later too)
returning companions also, damn. i was not expecting that at all. when i saw graham i was like 'ahhh so this is their big surprise, i'll pretend to be shocked, ahhhhh' BUT THEN. i loved it.
CATBOY RASPUTIN:
ok, it's been long enough. it is time to talk about the master.
flawless. perfect. i genuinely would not change a thing about it. (for now at least, maybe i will when i think about it more)
the rasputin dance break was iconic. there was no need for it. but it was there. it was glorious. i can never listen to rasputin again.
i almost don't care that we didn't get the next doctor in thirteen's outfit, because sacha dhawan in that outfit, earring and all, was spectacular. honestly, brilliant. i didn't think they'd go there but they did.
the concept of the master regenerating into the doctor. o o f . there's some very clever things to be said and meta to be written about that, but i don't have the brainpower rn, so hopefully someone else will.
i will admit, when sacha regenerated into the doctor, my brain immediately went 'fuck, no, we're gonna have a lot less jodie screentime now', but honestly it was okay. the scenes of her with classic doctors plus the hologram stuff made sure she was still around enough.
CATBOY MASTER. ENOUGH SAID.
MISCELLANEOUS OTHER THOUGHTS:
ace and seven getting closure!!!!! yay!!!!!!
the adric mention and 'brave heart, tegan' was lovely
the fact that yaz said to ruth 'the last time i saw you, you were a tour guide in gloucester' was funny. but, it means something quite sad really. the doctor never told her about the timeless child stuff, or division. or if she did, she left out some major details. the end of the vanquishers is one of my favourite scenes, and it's sad that they didn't give her the chance to follow through with 'i want to tell you everything'. but who knows, if big finish wants to give us that one day, i'll be happy.
the hands in the 'you saved my life' scene. stunning. there was no need for the glass though. let them touch BBC it's okay.
yaz carrying the doctor. yeah, i've said it already, but that scene was genuinely stunning.
the doctor seeing yaz's face, smiling, and closing her eyes. she should have said 'my yaz', paralleling the 'my fam' at the end of S12, but sure. in my head, she said it.
thirteen being trapped in the dalek!!!!!!! the clara parallels!!!!!!!!!!!!! when they said 'open the casing' a good 78% of me was going 'cLARA CLARA CLARA CLARA CLARA' but yeah. i liked that.
i realise i haven't said much about jodie (that's a first) and honestly i have nothing more to say that i haven't already said. how can anyone feel anything but love for her. she and mandip are brilliant. easily my favourite actors ever. easily.
they should have kissed man, chibnall you fucking coward.
to summarise: what we got was perfect. i mean, genuinely. like, every scene of that episode, i adored. but there was a 2 minute scene missing. a two minute scene, my version of which i will probably write at some point as i'm sure lots of us will, where yaz explains why she can't stay. they hug, they kiss, they reminisce, and they part.
i liked that they ended on 'let's not say goodbye' though. leaves it open for a yaz return, plus, VERY doctor of her to hate endings, to hate goodbyes. yaz's doctorification came full-circle and it was magnificent.
once again, mandip gill, WHERE did you learn to cry like that.
overall? solid 8.7/10. i can't forgive yaz not getting her proper exit. but i did enjoy what we got. and i miss them and i want them back. she's yaz's doctor, but she's our doctor too.

It's late, I'm very tired, but I am going to write you the ask anyway because I need you to know you put a new fic idea into my head and somehow it has grown and now what am I going to do? Do I have time for it? No. But it's been a lot of fun writing a snippet on the train today (as you do) and I hope it will stay for a while and maybe develop?
Basically, it's -
"[The cat] already has a name" the Doctor said suddenly. "She's called Siren." "You've named her?" Yaz exclaimed. "Has she told you?" Graham asked. "Mate, she doesn't actually speak 'cat'; she was having you on, earlier" Ryan stage whispered, before blinking and looking over to the Doctor. "You don't, do you?" "She's wearing a name tag" the Doctor explained and really, now that Yaz was examining the cat's collar, there was a tiny silver square reading 'Siren'. "Oh" she said, wondering why the Doctor hadn't used the name yet. Was it as not to get too attached? It had taken her awfully long to enter the discussion on the name, too.
I'm not quite sure how far this will go but there is actual plot already somewhere. It's a bit - difficult though. Because they're all treating the cat like you would treat a cat. Which is different from how you'd treat a human/timelord/whatever, especially when it comes to boundaries. And they don't know she's not a cat of course, because River is there ~undercover~. To them, basically, 13 has 'adopted a stray'.
Anyway, it is still very fun :) (also 90% of it has turned into a zoo tycoon ad but I am blaming that on companion-showdown) I love writing for the fam! It's difficult to juggle so many people in one scene but I love all of them so much 🥰 (but if I do write this whole piece it will probably end up being doctor/yaz/cat!river centric so that's only 3 characters and one is mainly non-verbal)
(This is about that cat named River Song in that post (yesterday?) and you saying it should be River undercover btw. Not sure whether that's been clear until now.)
Do you think Siren is a good name? Sirens sing and live in bodies of water, so I thought she might choose it as a not-too-obvious undercover name. Plus, River would dig the seductress connotations. (It might also have come to my mind because we've been talking about mermaids but anyway)
Alternatively, I was thinking Cleopatra bc we know River has cosplayed as her and it would be cute to call the cat 'Cleo'. It's a very cat-like name, I think.
Or 'Melody'? More angsty but also more obvious and riskier. And the idea is that the Doctor cannot know either she's there. But it also makes a good name for a cat I think.
(also, yeah, I totally haven't finished the lkh rewrite either, I think I told you earlier. But ohhh shiny new fic concept with thasmin and River and a cat 😍😍😍 anyway I am blaming you <3 (for the idea, not the procrastinating - the procrastinating is 100% on me))
God, I hope this is halfway coherent now. I'm not feeling too coherent 😅
Anyway thank you so much for listening <3 I'm very grateful to hear any thoughts! On the name or general thoughts :) Also questions! As I said, there is some plot. Unfinished, but I can see a main direction (and it looks suspiciously like 20k+ words so... not sure I will follow it ever)
First of all, absolutely love that my bullshit inspired you XD
Second, I love the scene you wrote omgggg! The fact the fam didn't notice the nametag and just went to the more outlandish explanation of "13 speaks cat" 😂
I love the name Siren so much!! Like first, it fits with the "River" (body of water) "Song", but it also reminds me of how when River calls for the Doctor, they are always there for her, almost as though drawn to River.
(Shiny new ideas always so appealing, yuppp, it is a thing I know all too well)
I am so excited to read more of this, and am looking forward to the plot that awaits us!
On the point of juggling so many characters, yes, I find that anything above three characters regularly interacting gets a bit crowded. Perhaps you'll still find a way to have Ryan and Graham there and doing little tasks during the fic, like for instance sending them to get food for Siren XD
I am honoured to have enabled this as your writing sounds a delight!! May the writing gods bless you, may your writing be plentiful and motivating!

The Church on Ruby Road (spoilers)
Oh my god! I absolutely loved that! Ncuti Gatwa is phenomenal. He's got so much presence right from the start, and there were some lovely little Doctor-ish quirks that he got across very nicely. I particularly liked his disdain for the Goblins' supposed time travel, him loving the name Lulubelle and the way he rattled off his police interview answers (though the bit about the proposal was perhaps a little too Sherlock). On a sadder note, his 'maybe I'm the bad luck' line was also delivered really well.
Ruby Sunday is pretty cool too, though I'm not quite as sold on her yet. Millie Gibson's performance felt just a trifle stilted to me, but I hope that goes away as she relaxes into the role. I loved her family, especially her gran. It's so nice to have a wider companion family like this again. We got it a bit with Yaz (and sort of Ryan and Graham), but I hope we get to see a bit more of this lot!
I wasn't sure what I was going to think of the Goblins, but I really like the alternative physics time travel thing they have going on with the language of luck. The Doctor's line about learning the vocabulary of rope was great; some real 'resonating concrete' vibes. But yes, the Goblins were fun and interesting. I don't know if they'll become anything particularly iconic, but not every villain needs to be.
The musical number was enormous fun. Obviously the first part was released ahead of time, but the Doctor and Ruby launching into a second part was unexpected and fantastic. Ncuti has a damn good voice. There have been questions about whether a musical episode of the show could work before, and I'm definitely here for it if there's ever a plan to give us more than just one song! Ruby's own ability to sing (improvisationally!) was also quite nicely set up with her being in a band.
Perhaps the best part of the episode was when Ruby was taken out of time. Her mum being a far more jaded and unhappy person, with even the lighting getting dimmer, was incredibly effective. Her declaring she was happy alone with tears in her eyes, the Doctor also crying, really got me. Ncuti's performance throughout that as well gave me a lot of faith in what's to come (not that I needed any, given what I've seen of him in Sex Education). (That 'then why are you crying' also had more than a hint of Amy crying for Rory.)
I have to mention the timeless child stuff. As with what he did with the flux in Wild Blue Yonder, I'm over the moon that RTD is taking things from the last era and actually doing stuff with it. I know there will be people angry about it because they expected him to retcon the whole thing, but I far prefer this approach. Granted, I never minded the timeless child stuff that much (unlike the flux), but it was really effective having the Doctor actually bring up the fact that he doesn't know where he's from. I wonder if RTD is planning to do anything more with it, or if it will just be used as character and relationship building material.
Smaller stuff:
We got another mavity mention, so is this just here to stay or is it part of a longer arc?
The way the gloves work didn't make sense to me. The way the Doctor explained them was as if the weight just shifted to the glove (which makes sense for making balancing and gripping easier), but if that's the case where does the extra weight come from when pulling the rope down? Oh well, I'll just imagine they're magic weight deletion/creation devices and move on with my life.
That spike through the Goblin King at the end was brutal! I'm surprised they were allowed to show it. No blood or anything, I suppose, but still!
Ruby's mother (we presume) was somehow still walking away after the Doctor's whole escapade with the Goblins. Bad directing (I might have bought it if she were much further away on a long road) or an indication of more at play? Either way, presumably this isn't the last of that plot thread!
What the hell is going on with Mrs Flood? When she was watching the Doctor towards the end, I thought it was pretty strange, and then in the mid-credits sequence I started to wonder if she was something more than she seemed. Then came the look to camera and her line about TARDISes… Technically, this could be a weird little moment a la Feast of Steven, but it seems more likely something else is at play. The Toymaker could bend the rules of reality, so perhaps she could be part of the legions he mentioned, able to break the fourth wall at will. We shall see, I suppose!

I followed Yazbookish on IG for a long time and enjoyed her blogs. I was almost convinced that Gwyn x Az were an endgame. A blogger like Yaz and other big accounts invested so much money and time commissioning fan art of g x Az and so-called research posts. It was constantly posted throughout the year that I thought to be dumb for missing out the connection between Az and G. When I read the bonus chapter- I didn’t see what they saw. So I came on here listening to your side. Everything makes sense without an effort. And I didn’t feel dumb anymore. I wasn’t alone on this. My other friends felt misled by these bloggers. I’m saying I hope people like you would keep up with what you have been doing regardless how tiring it is. I’ve shared many of your blogs to my confused friends, it really helps. I hope you and many other elriels will stay in this fandom. 🙏😔 -New Elriel
Yah, theorizing should not be so tortured. Like here is the hypothesis, there is proof in canon--done and done. You shouldn't need to invent whole new plots, which aren't canon based, just to support your theories. There's never been any discussion of an Illyrian plot, especially when it comes to Azriel. Never been any indication that he would be going to Illyria, and in some manner would be assisted by Gwyn?? Like, why? All the future plots were outlined in the books--there is no need to invent more plots, so you can make Gwyn shine.
Whatever the reason for the Gwyn obsession is--that's fine, whatever--but I do hate it when whack theories are presented as undeniable facts. When people are just blatantly lying about 'Azriel getting his own book'--never did SJM say anything about it, ever. Yet, it's treated as fact now.
It would be totally fine if they said 'we know Gwynriel is a crackship, but we like it. We recognize it's a crackship, but hey, what if it happens!" - that would be perfectly acceptable. Yet, they treat Elriel like it's a crackship, where as SJM literally confirmed attraction, desire and need from both parties. And then the gaslighting begins, and it never stops. 'Elriel are brother and sister!' 'he wants her for sex!' 'she wants him for sex!' 'Gwynriel are mates!' Like.....what?
I've never interacted with Yaz--she blocked me after my very first Elriel post, all those years ago. LOL. But I am vaguely aware of her very robust output of endless 'theories' and fanarts. I mean, more power to her, but it doesn't matter how many times she calls Gwynriel mates, they still aren't.
"What if the Cauldron was wrong?" was not put in there for the Cauldron to be right.

i know this sounds petty but i really feel like thasmins are just jealous of timepetals and honestly i'm can't blame them for it. i wish thasmin had been better written/more fleshed out too. but omg stay out of the tags or go do something more productive with that energy like write fanfic or something.
it's not petty imo, it's just true.
the thing is rose and her relationship with the doctor has absolutely nothing to do with that.
i actually am currently catching up on s11-13 and i am enjoying thirteen and her relationship with yaz thus far. i don't fully love the controversial writing choices chibnall made, but that's alright. i don't love everything about any era.
it's just really odd to me because the main difference between rose and the doctor and yaz and the doctor is that rtd intentionally wrote the doctor and rose as romantic since the first episode with nine. he had a specific vision for them and he followed it through. chibnall did not plan to make yaz and thirteen romantic. the fans enjoyed them and he decided to give them more romantic undertones because of that, so there is already a difference there. this doesn't mean th*smin is bad, but it's just different! the development is not all there because that wasn't the original plan, and tbh i think it's pretty awesome that he leaned into what queer fans wanted instead of pulling a no homo on them, but it doesn't change how they're different than tenrose because chib didn't have a specific plan in mind for them AND then the pandemic happened. it's just different!
and the fact that they bring rose and her relationship with ten in even though it has been FIFTEEN years since we saw them last boggles my mind and there is no reason to do so other than they feel jealous that a lot of the fandom still loves them and they're still really popular in some circles.
it's honestly really hard to be someone who has loved the doctor and rose for over a decade but still willing to enjoy the doctor's other relationships (personally twelveclara and i enjoy th*smin as well) because they love to attack rose, ten and their relationship so much. like i legit got anon hate falling me a misogynist on main because i was excited about david coming back even though i have been convinced "fourteen" is tentoo since then and i'm just also excited for ncuti's era because i've been a fan of his since sex education and david is obviously just a way to bring viewership back up for ncuti since, unfortunately, jodie's run lost like 80% of viewers.
the dw fandom is really toxic because they literally WANT to fight instead of being constructive. like yes if you tag anti shit in a character tag people are gonna get upset. because it's rude. not because you're not allowed to have an opinion.

the giggle thoughts
- is the toymaker racist btw bc why did he ask that man at the beginning where he's from?? and the man's reaction was like 'I'm from cheshire (or some other uk place beginning with C I don't remember)', like he was offended the toymaker asked omg the toymaker is racist fr isn't he that so weird
- have been shitting on the toymaker's german accent for months but it was funny at points. the american was cringe tho idk
- a long intro without the doctor showing up felt sooooo chibnall era coded (not in a good way I hated when chib did that)
- that today text that came up on the screen was very unnecessary and weird
- obviously the ep is a commentary on ppl online being very 'I'm right, you're wrong' and wanting to fight ppl and I get it and I love it but also it was so on the nose and unsubtle like ppl say chib was unsubtle (o55 speech) but this was too and not always in a good way
- that first scene at unit with everyone went on for a bit too long
- I have no attachment to mel so I really don't care that she's here
- saw someone on twt say what if mel is ruby sunday's mum and I was like don't be stupid you're just saying that bc the actors have done a photoshoot together but mel specifically mentioning being alone and having no one and the fact we know she's gonna be in the show a bit going forward and we know ruby is gonna search for her parents... have dots been connected or am I being insane too now? idk anything about mel so idk if it would make sense for her to abandon a child but I guess there a millions reasons it could have happened that could work with mel's character
- the amy clara and bill puppet show <3333 so obsessed
- I liked the spice girl scene and a lot of other toymaker scenes but also he wasn't as good as i was expecting him to be. a lot of the ep didn't have the vibe I was expecting tbh idk
- 15 showing up genuinely made me sob like idk I think just waiting so long to see him and it finally happening and him just have such amazing vibes INSTANTLY really fucked me up like I love his attitude and the way he talks and the things he says and his energy so much and it just hit me quick as fuck
- 14 and 15 hugging and being there for each other really got me I loved it
- 15 really is the embodiment of like, the doctor has been on their feet too long and needs a break and I guess 15 is the doctor once the doctor has finally had that time to just relax and he's just so happy and full of life AHHHHHHHHHH
- idk how I feel about 14's face explanation. it's kinda silly? like.. i really don't know
- no yaz mention in that tardis scene is a genuine piss take. they were literally talking about the doctor's lifestyle and the ppl he's loved and yaz didn't come up??? are you joking? she literally fits right into the convo around the doctor needing to take a break and just Be for a bit like 13's whome thing was not wanting to attach herself bc she doesn't ever know what's gonna happen and now 14 is here literally about to live a normal life. genuinely really annoying. basically every other significant companion got a mention
- 14's ending feels like fanfic and part of me likes it and part of me is like.. idk. I'm gonna need to sit on a for a bit
- I've known about the bi-generation for months bc of leaks and I was expecting to REALLY not be a fan but I didn't hate it. idk if I love it either tho. rn all I know for sure is that ncuti is our doctor now and I love him

Ahhhhh Yazs last chapter! I loved it and was surprised how easily the Doctor came out to her about being genderqueer and her pronouns, because I expected her to be a bit dodgy about the subject, maybe the conversation with Jack helped her a lot. I kinda hoped that she would tell Yaz about her former name, John, but baby steps LOL. AND RIVER YEEESSSSS. I didnt know that she visited her, I can imagine that River wasnt exactly happy to see her but it is cute that she gave her that mixtape awwww
Ahhh thank you so much, I'm so glad you enjoyed it!!
You know, it's quite funny with the Doctor, but honestly I think that there are so many other things on her mind at the moment, so many things that she is actively avoiding talking about, that talking about her gender and sexuality is relatively easy territory HAHA! But also I think it has a LOT to do with the context of the conversation. For a start, Yaz came out first, and in my personal experience (which a lot of that conversation was inspired by honestly haha) it is SIGNIFICANTLY easier to come out to someone who has also just come out to you, because it suddenly becomes less of a terrifying thing and much more a 'oh my days we're family' thing, which is really lovely. And you can be a lot more frank about it too, and more open about the complexity of the whole thing, because this is another queer person who will most likely get where you're coming from in a way that a cis straight person probably wouldn't so much.....so I think, for the Doctor, that has a lot to do with it. But I also think Yaz really went about it the right way too, which helped a lot - she didn't try and put any names on what the Doctor experienced, and just left it open for her to say what she wanted. And this helped the Doctor a lot, because she honestly doesn't know in some ways, and in others it's ended up being a bit complicated. But you'll see all of that in a lot more detail from the Doctor's side when you get her pov of that scene!
You are right, though, in that there are definitely times when the Doctor would have been more cagey about this sort of thing - and I think that would have been if she'd felt like she needed to give a clear cut answer, or felt like she was being pressured to explain it all more than she feels comfortable with. There is a lot that she doesn't say to Yaz. There is a lot that she doesn't say in general, actually, which is partly why her section is significantly longer than anyone else's haha (as well as the fact that she sleeps less than everyone else sksk)
About the name John, though - well, unfortunately, at this stage in the story, she will definitely not talk to ANYONE about that, and it's because it's all entangled in the past she can't really remember. It's a direct thread pulling back on everything between her and Koschei and she...isn't dealing well, let's say.
AND THIS IS GETTING LONG BUT YES RIVER!! Oh, River.....yeah, that meeting in 2018 was really complicated. I feel like it was significantly more difficult for River than for the Doctor, who just had no context for anything. But I really wanted them to meet like that, because it's meant to be a parallel between that moment in River's first episode in the show, where she looks at the Doctor and he just does not know her at all. The album that she recced though, in case it wasn't clear, wasn't in 2018, but way back when they were sort-of-dating - and as I said in the ask I just answered, it was because it resonated with her a lot and she thought it would resonate with the Doctor too. If you haven't listened to it, I do recommend it actually because it's a GORGEOUS album and very raw in places.
Sidenote - not sure if you saw the asks I replied to about campervan!River aaages back, but if not, they're here and here!

What I wanted to know is how you do you feel about thasmin. I'm conflicted because
It was very rushed
Madip Gill is leaving which made it studid to get attached to the thought of it.
It felt like a cheap way to bring fan who probably don't care about the of the characters
I'm not going to lie and THIS IS MY OPINION but I think it's just Chibnall's poor one dimensional writing. And I'm not say all his work is like that because I quit enjoyed a few of his episodes.
There really wasn't much to support the ship. In context there was not much prior history about Yaz liking the Doctor.
Ok I'm not say Yaz isn't a person but she doesn't have much to go on but her star struck nature when she's around the doctor.
Those are my reason so far on why I'm not sure it's a good ship. But I'm only so many years old and I might not have the best take on this kind of stuff so yeah.
Before hand thank you for answering
I don’t think I can agree with all of what you said because, although you made some fair points, I think the concept of "bad ship" it’s flawed in itself.
There is no such thing as a bad ship. There are badly written relationship, and I agree with you on the fact that canon mistreated the potential of Thasmin tremendously, but I don’t think this makes the ship any less interesting or valid.
I’m sorry if I’m being pedantic and this is exactly what you meant and said "not a good ship" to get the point across, but I think it is important in this context to clarify, because it could very easily make Thasmin shippers feel bad or blamed for enjoying their ship, which is something I’ll never condone.
And I want to make something very very clear here.
A ship does not need the original creator’s blessing.
A ship doesn’t need its canon representation to be well-written to be valid.
A ship doesn’t need to be canon at all to be valid.
Ships and canon relationships are two separate entities and they shall remain like this.
I find the "ship not canon so not valid/badly written therefore bad in all ways" mentality terribly worrying, I’m seeing it increase in fandom spaces by the day, whether because studios caught on fandom trends and are disperdetele trying to please their audience (henceforth canonising the most popular ship rather than the one they were thinking abt in the first place), or because fans feel more involved in the creation of the canon material itself, leading to ship wars with real life stakes and prizes in the form of canonisation.
My personal opinion on Thasmin and Yaz in general is no secret. I don’t like the ship or the character, I personally find both boring and lazily put together. I think the ship came out of nowhere and was definitely written in after season one or even two. I even think they were trying to set up a Ryan/Yaz thing before they were even thinking abt Thasmin.
But you know what’s actually rad? Fan content!
Thasmin Fics and fanarts are single-handedly feeding this ship with dedication and depth, a depth that I’m bitter the show never gave us. And this would’ve never happened if someone forced themselves not to ship something because deemed bad or not deep or well written enough in canon.
I said it before and I’ll said it again.
Fuck canon. Canon is only the starting point, you, whoever you are, are the one that gives it meaning, whether by enjoying it in your own personal way with your own motivations, or by creating with its premises.
So what I’m saying is…you don’t have to enjoy it, I of all people (Thoschei trash and proud) will never foce you to, but if you feel like these characters are a case of wasted potential I’d give ao3 and the Thasmin tag a look, you might discover it ain’t that bad after all.

Bechdel analysis on series 11, first 5 episodes. Not as fully-formatted as Mewiet's work, but numbered. I judged petty conservatively on "is that line addressed to the woman who responds or a (mixed) group".
Bechdel-Wallace pass rate: 100%.
Two queer women speak to each other: Ghost Monument (Yaz and Angstrom) — unless you count the Doctor, which... I apparently don't..? think on balance it doesn't have quite the relevant import..? If you count the Doctor it's 100%, if you only count characters who are explicitly queer in a way modern-day humans could be it's just that, Frankie from Arachnids has a wife but dies without talking to any women.
Two women of colour speak to each other: Rosa (Rosa and Yaz), Arachnids (Yaz and Najia, briefly Yaz&Sonya and Yaz-Najia-Jade); 3-line exchange in Woman Who Fell to Earth (Yaz&Grace; disappointing!), two-line exchange in Tsuranga between Yaz and Mabli.
Total line length of exchanges: 58, 29, 68, 94, 117. the hypothetical infographics may need a new band of colour.
The Woman Who Fell to Earth     11.1     7 Oct 2018 1.    SONIA: She smashed it with a hammer! 2.    JANEY: Cos you keyed me nearside door! 3.    SONIA: Because you parked in my spot! 4.    JANEY: It's not your spot. There are no spots. 5.    YASMIN: Ladies, please! Thank you. Can I suggest a simple solution? You pay for her cracked window, you pay for her scratched door, and we all agree that parking round here is a nightmare but that grown-ups really shouldn't need to call the police to sort it out for them. Now, if we're all agreed on that, there's no need for me to take any further police action and we can all get on with our lives. What do you reckon?
6.    YASMIN: Hey! Hold on there please, madam. I need you to do as I say. This could be a potential crime scene. 7.    DOCTOR: Why are you calling me madam? 8.    YASMIN: Because you're a woman. 9.    DOCTOR: Am I? Does it suit me? 10.    YASMIN: What? 11.    DOCTOR: Oh yeah, I remember. Sorry, half an hour ago I was a white-haired Scotsman.
12.    DOCTOR: But the doors are locked. How did you both get in? 13.    YASMIN: Driver's window was smashed in. 14.    DOCTOR: What's your name? 15.    YASMIN: PC Khan, Hallamshire Police. 16.    DOCTOR: Name, not title. 17.    YASMIN: Yasmin Khan. Yaz to my friends. Can I have your name, please? 18.    DOCTOR: When I can remember it. 19.    YASMIN: You don't know your own name? 20.    DOCTOR: Course I know it. I just can't remember it.
21.    YASMIN: Wait. Can you stop, please? This could be a major incident. I'm the one in charge here. 22.    DOCTOR: What are you going to do? 23.    YASMIN: Call it in to my station. 24.    DOCTOR: What are you going to tell them? 25.    YASMIN: The facts. 26.    DOCTOR: Which are? 27.    YASMIN: The train was attacked. 28.    DOCTOR: By what? 29.    YASMIN: I need to take a look at CCTV footage. 30.    DOCTOR: And why do you need to check CCTV when we all saw it with our own eyes? 31.    YASMIN: I can't not report it. 32.    DOCTOR: You could hold off until we get the answers to the bigger questions. 33.    YASMIN: Which are? 34.    DOCTOR: What was it? Why is it here? Where's it going next? And, most importantly, how do we stop it? 'Cos whatever it is, I don't think it's done.
35.    YASMIN: I'm going to be in such trouble if they find out I were there. 36.    DOCTOR: Can we have the lights and siren on? 37.    YASMIN: No! I shouldn't be doing any of this. 38.    GRACE: Not Yasmin Khan? 39.    YASMIN: Hello, Ryan's Nan. 40.    GRACE: Haven't you done well for yourself, love. 41.    DOCTOR: Two weird things, one city, same night, makes me nervous. 42.    YASMIN: I'll see if there have been any more reports on that object. 43.    DOCTOR: Good, cos we need all the information we can get. Meet us back here. 44.    DOCTOR: Suddenly I feel really tired. 45.    GRACE: That was a big fall you had, love. We should get you checked out at A&E. 46.    DOCTOR: No, no, no. I never go anywhere that's just initials. 47.    GRACE: What's your best guess, love? 48.    DOCTOR: Two aliens, one city, one night. Best guess? Two species at war, using Earth as a battleground. 49.    YASMIN: Are you joking? 50.    DOCTOR: No, sorry.
51.    YASMIN: What do we do when we get up there? 52.    DOCTOR: Don't worry, I've got a plan. 53.    YASMIN: Really? 54.    DOCTOR: Well, I will have by the time we get to the top. 55.    YASMIN: So everything we saw, everything we've lied to people about, is this normal for you? 56.    DOCTOR: I'm just a traveller. Sometimes I see things need fixing, I do what I can. Except right now, I'm a traveller without a ship. I've stayed too long. I should get back to finding my Tardis. 57.    YASMIN: Doctor. Can I just say, you really need to get out of those clothes. 58.    DOCTOR: Right, yeah. It's been a long time since I bought women's clothes.
The Ghost Monument     11.2     14 Oct 2018 1.    ANGSTROM: Krin. 2.    DOCTOR: How much is a krin? 3.    ANGSTROM: 200 kavlons. 4.    ANGSTROM: I've never seen so much water. 5.    YASMIN: You're Albarian, he said? 6.    ANGSTROM: Yes. The planet of Albar. It's tiny. Crammed full of rusting high-rises. Everyone wants to leave any way they can. Even more so since... 7.    YASMIN: Since what? 8.    ANGSTROM: I don't know you. 9.    DOCTOR: How many stages are there in the rally? 10.    ANGSTROM: This time? 209 terrains, 94 planets. We start the race with nothing and barter our way up. 11.    DOCTOR: Is it worth it? 12.    ANGSTROM: To ensure enough for my family's safety? Yeah. Albar is being systematically cleansed. Half of my family are in hiding. The others are on the run. This is my only chance to bring us back together. 13.    YASMIN: So you left your family to do this? 14.    ANGSTROM: I left my family to try and save my family. They told me to. If I win, I find them, rescue them. If they're alive to be rescued. Whatever happens here, it's a better chance than I had back home. 15.    YASMIN: You're making me miss my family. That's quite some achievement, considering my dad drives me bananas and my sister's trying to get me to move out so she can have my bedroom. And I only saw them yesterday. 16.    ANGSTROM: Don't ever take them for granted. God, you all look shattered. 17.    DOCTOR: You should all rest. I'll wake you when we get there. 18.    ANGSTROM: How did you even do that? 19.    DOCTOR: Did I not mention? I am really smart. 20.    ANGSTROM: Thank you. 21.    DOCTOR: You are very welcome. Amazing what you can learn from a SniperBot. 22.    ANGSTROM: This exit ladder will take us up and out to the surface. 23.    YASMIN: What's up there? 24.    ANGSTROM: Acetylene fields. 25.    DOCTOR: I thought maybe you didn't believe me that I'd get you home. 26.    YASMIN: I thought you didn't believe yourself for a second back there. 27.    DOCTOR: Who, me? No. Never doubted. Don't know what you mean. Home, then? 28.    YASMIN: You can get us there? Really? 29.    DOCTOR: Start believing.
Rosa     11.3     21 Oct 2018 1.    YASMIN: Should we know what artron energy is? 2.    DOCTOR: It's the same type of energy the Tardis runs off. There really shouldn't be traces of artron energy here, unless they're ours, which they're not. 3.    YASMIN: And now you want to check it out. 4.    DOCTOR: Yeah, I should. Quick look, but quietly. History is very delicate. We stick together. 5.    DOCTOR: Brilliant. Rosa Parks. Lovely to meet you, Rosa Parks. Big fan. 6.    ROSA: Excuse me? 7.    DOCTOR: Big fan... of Montgomery. I am... we are just visiting. Recommend anything for tourists like us? 8.    ROSA: I recommend you get yourselves the hell out of Alabama before you find yourselves in trouble you can't get out of. 9.    DOCTOR: Okay, listen. I can deal with this. You guys go back to the Tardis and be safe. 10.    YASMIN: While you do what? 11.    DOCTOR: Locate the source of these energy anomalies. We're one day out of a tipping point in Earth history. I don't want anything disrupting that. It's easy for me here. It's more dangerous for you. You can walk away from this. 12.    DOCTOR: This is where the artron signals converge. At the bus company. 13.    YASMIN: All roads lead to Rosa Parks. 14.    DOCTOR: Yeah. Bit of a worry. Let's have a look around. 15.    YASMIN: Evening. She was coming home from work. I remember cos she said people thought she didn't stand cos she was tired from working, but she wasn't. 16.    DOCTOR: Where did she work? 17.    YASMIN: I think it was in a shop, like a department store. 18.    YASMIN: Hi. Nice to see you again. Mrs Parks, right? 19.    ROSA: Yes. 20.    DOCTOR: You helped us out earlier today with our little misunderstanding. 21.    ROSA: I remember. British. 22.    DOCTOR: Yes. Funny thing, you'll never believe this, we're actually doing market research for bus companies. Looking at people's transport habits. Answer the questions, enter the raffle for a prize. You get this bus this time every day? 23.    ROSA: Most days. Always this time. 24.    DOCTOR: And you live...? 25.    ROSA: Cleveland Court. Next stop. Ma'am, if you keep sitting there, we're all going to have to move. 26.    ROSA: If I win your raffle, will that give me the right to sit anywhere I want on this bus? 27.    DOCTOR: No. 28.    ROSA: I didn't think so. This is my stop. 29.    DOCTOR: Mrs Parks, enormous clothing emergency. Can you help me? 30.    ROSA: That is one nasty tear. 31.    YASMIN: Yes, it is. And there is nothing us Brits hate more than a clothing emergency. 32.    DOCTOR: Mrs Parks, I have to go out in that coat this evening, and if it's torn I'll get in such trouble. 33.    YASMIN: Can you take a look at it now? Double time Christmas bonus? 34.    ROSA: (checks her work book) Well, I don't have any collections until tomorrow afternoon. I guess I could fit you in. Now, if you come back just before we close... 35.    YASMIN: I'll wait while you work. Keep you company. 36.    ROSA: I don't need company. 37.    DOCTOR: No, but my coat does. It's very valuable. I don't usually let it out of my sight. Thank you. You're going to make a big difference. 38.    ROSA: Oh, I'd best set to work, then. 39.    DOCTOR: Don't let her out of your sight.
40.    YASMIN: Have you always wanted to be a seamstress? 41.    ROSA: I dreamed of being a teacher, but my grandmother got sick, then my mother, so that was the end of school. 42.    YASMIN: I'm sorry about that. 43.    ROSA: Oh, I got myself educated. Just took longer than I thought. 44.    YASMIN: But you kept going. 45.    ROSA: Always. An education makes you unstoppable. 46.    YASMIN: Everything here's a fight for you. Don't you get tired? What keeps you going? 47.    ROSA: Promise of tomorrow. When today isn't working, tomorrow is what you have. You married? Got a job back home? 48.    YASMIN: Not married, and I'm a police officer. 49.    ROSA: You're police? 50.    YASMIN: Yeah. Just starting. Not where I want to be. 51.    ROSA: Hmm. Where is it you want to be? 52.    YASMIN: In charge. 53.    ROSA: (laughs) Amen to that. 54.    YASMIN: Shouldn't you be finishing up? 55.    ROSA: If a job is worth doing, it is worth doing well. 56.    YASMIN: But don't you have a bus to get? 57.    ROSA: I can always walk.
58.    ROSA: I think that should just about... 59.    YASMIN: Love it. Let's go. I'll walk you out. Pay you on the way. 60.    ROSA: Oh. 61.    DOCTOR: Yaz, you're here. How's it going? 62.    YASMIN: Mrs Parks fixed your coat. 63.    DOCTOR: Oh, thank you, Mrs Parks. Beautiful work. Much appreciated. 64.    ROSA: You're welcome, ma'am.
65.    YASMIN: What's the matter? What are you doing? 66.    DOCTOR: Counting seats. 67.    YASMIN: Has it worked? Have we done enough? 68.    DOCTOR: I don't know.
Arachnids in the UK     11.4     28 Oct 2018 1.    YASMIN: What're you going to do now? 2.    DOCTOR: Oh, you know. Back in the box. There's loads to see. 3.    YASMIN: By yourself? 4.    DOCTOR: Yeah, I suppose. 5.    YASMIN: Do you want to come for tea at mine? 6.    DOCTOR: Definitely! Yes, I would. Thanks. I love tea. Tea at Yaz's? Amazing. 7.    YASMIN: Hi, Mum. 8.    NAJIA [hotel reception]: Hey. Can you pick me up from work? 9.    YASMIN: What, now? I'm just in the middle of... 10.    NAJIA [hotel reception]: Yes, now. It's urgent. I'll text you the address. Don't let on to your dad. I'll tell you everything when I see you. 11.    YASMIN: Fine. 12.    NAJIA [hotel reception]: Thanks, sweetheart. 13.    SONYA: Married to the job. 14.    YASMIN: At least I've got a job to be married to. Bye. 15.    SONYA: Hope you don't crash. 16.    DOCTOR: I mean, I could open the door. 17.    JADE: What, like, break it in? 18.    DOCTOR: No, just sort the lock. If you thought it was appropriate. If you're worried about her. 19.    JADE: I am. 20.    NAJIA: Quick, get in before anyone sees. 21.    YASMIN: Hi! 22.    NAJIA: Oh! What's the big hug for? I only saw you this morning. 23.    YASMIN: Yeah, well, it feels longer. This is well swanky. 24.    NAJIA: Don't get attached. We need to go. 25.    YASMIN: Can I not have a quick look round? 26.    NAJIA: No, Yaz. I've been sacked. 27.    YASMIN: What? Mum! But you've just started. 28.    NAJIA: I know. 29.    YASMIN: They can't do that. What happened?
30.    JADE: We reckon there could be around 21 quadrillion spiders on the planet in total. 31.    DOCTOR: So what sort of research are you doing in here? 32.    JADE: We're interested in utilising the genetic strengths of arachnids. Ordinary spider silk is as strong as steel or as tough as Kevlar. 33.    DOCTOR: Did Anna have access to your experiments? 34.    JADE: No, she was on the admin team. Everything we do here is secure. We discard all carcasses responsibly through a specialist company. Unless she was taking things without us knowing, but... she's not that kind of person. I should notify the police. 35.    DOCTOR: What is it you wanted to show us? 36.    JADE: Reports of unusual spider activity in Sheffield over the last three months, from the police, pest controllers, and to us here. Rare sightings, an increase in numbers, spiders you don't normally see at this time of year. 37.    DOCTOR: Something's wrong with the spider ecosystem in South Yorkshire. 38.    JADE: Exactly. But we don't know what. They have nothing in common. Different species, different quantities. Some are large massings, some have been a profusion of web-building. I can't work out if they're confused, or angry or scared. 39.    DOCTOR: Or trying to send a message. 40.    JADE: What are you doing? 41.    DOCTOR: Where's that?
42.    NAJIA: Did you hear that? 43.    YASMIN: Yeah.  (Yasmin goes to the internal wall and carefully puts her ear to it. We are shown the giant spider on the other side. Najia's phone rings.) 44.    NAJIA: Hello? Yeah. It's for you. It's a doctor. 45.    YASMIN: Hi, Doctor. You're never going to believe it. 46.    DOCTOR: Are you at the hotel where your mum works? 47.    YASMIN [OC]: Yeah. 48.    DOCTOR: Can you let us in? 49.    DOCTOR: (hugs Najia) Hi, Yaz's mum. 50.    NAJIA: Najia. Yaz, they can't be here. 51.    DOCTOR: Najia, you made a very awesome human. Tell me what's going on. 52.    YASMIN: The room next door is covered in cobwebs, top to bottom. 53.    DOCTOR: Just like your neighbour's house. 54.    YASMIN: What? 55.    DOCTOR: Big spider problem in this city right now, Yaz. Glad to be home? 56.    NAJIA: I know the way out. 57.    DOCTOR: Everyone, follow Yaz's mum. 58.    NAJIA: It's Najia.
59.    JADE: They're trying to make the whole hotel their web. 60.    DOCTOR: And we're the flies. We're not leaving. We have to find out why they're here and stop them getting any further. We need to find a safe haven. Yaz's mum? 61.    NAJIA: Kitchen? 62.    DOCTOR: Lead on. 63.    DOCTOR: Any issues with spiders before today, Najia, here or at home? 64.    NAJIA: My home? 65.    DOCTOR: One of your neighbours had a spider problem. The link between both places is you. 66.    DOCTOR: Are you sure? 67.    NAJIA: Sorry, but who are you? How'd you know my daughter? Why have I never met you before? 68.    YASMIN: Oh, not now. 69.    NAJIA: Yes, now. It's not a difficult question. 70.    DOCTOR: It is a bit of a long answer. 71.    NAJIA: Well, I've got time. 72.    DOCTOR: But I haven't. Not right now. 73.    NAJIA: Are you two seeing each other? 74.    DOCTOR: I don't think so. Are we? 75.    YASMIN: We're friends. 76.    DOCTOR: Hmm. 77.    YASMIN: I owe the Doctor my life, quite a few times over. 78.    NAJIA: What's that even supposed to mean? 79.    YASMIN: Please can we not have this conversation now? 80.    YASMIN: Why are they in cocoons? 81.    DOCTOR: I think they're being stored as food. 82.    JADE: Spiders don't eat people. 83.    DOCTOR: I said they're being stored. They haven't eaten them. They're outsized and confused. All their behavioural patterns have been disrupted. How did they get like this? 84.    JADE: It doesn't make any sense. This is not what spiders do. 85.    YASMIN: Have you seen what's down here? 86.    JADE: It's landfill. 87.    NAJIA: Is that what the smell is? It goes on for miles. 88.    DOCTOR: And down.
89.    DOCTOR: Because spiders can keep growing as long as they live. 90.    JADE: What if our waste included something that we thought was dead, but was still just alive? 91.    DOCTOR: And with enough food in all that waste to survive, and enough toxicity to mutate and to keep on growing. 92.    DOCTOR: It's grown too big. 93.    JADE: She's suffocating. She's got too big to breathe efficiently. Even moving around in here, it's using up what little oxygen she can absorb. She won't survive for long. She's more scared of us than we are of her. 94.    DOCTOR: I'm so sorry this has happened to you.
The Tsuranga Conundrum     11.5     4 Nov 2018 1.    DOCTOR: Nobody move. (scans it) If I can keep it in temporal lock... No, it's got too many sensors, it won't work. It was camouflaged! This is someone's idea of a nasty joke. 2.    YASMIN: What is it? 3.    DOCTOR: Sonic mine. It's counting down. 4.    DOCTOR: You're mentioned in the Book of Celebrants. You helped defeat the Army of the Aeons at the Battle of the Underkind. 5.    CICERO: I was one of many. 6.    DOCTOR: You're a bit of a legend, though. 7.    CICERO: And who are you? 8.    DOCTOR: I'm the Doctor. 9.    CICERO: Wait. I've heard that name. Aren't you in the Book of Celebrants? Isn't there a whole chapter about you? 10.    DOCTOR: Me? No. Very common name. Anyway, lovely chatting. Must be off. Hope you all get better soon. 11.    DOCTOR: You can do this. 12.    MABLI: Right. Yeah. I can. 13.    DOCTOR: What did you want to show us? 14.    MABLI: Well, if I sync my ocular recorders with the databanks... MABLI: All Tsuranga medics are implanted with lenses so we can record all treatments for training purposes, lawsuits, data records. YASMIN: Like a posh version of my uniform camera.
15.    DOCTOR: Too fast to chase and capture, too toxic to touch directly. It's a bit of a puzzler. 16.    MABLI: It's going to kill us all, isn't it? 17.    DOCTOR: Whoa, Mabli! You went there way too quick. I said a puzzler, not a death sentence. I mean, it's a bit of a challenge, and I can't quite see the solution yet, but that's life. Or medicine. Patients present problems, you figure them out and come up with solutions. That's what this is. A problem to be diagnosed. Medicine to be administered. You're a medic, I'm the Doctor. 18.    MABLI: A doctor of medicine? 19.    DOCTOR: Well, medicine, science, engineering, candyfloss, Lego, philosophy, music, problems, people, hope. Mostly hope. 20.    MABLI: I'm struggling to see much hope here. 21.    DOCTOR: It doesn't just offer itself up. You have to use your imagination. Imagine the solution and work to make it a reality. Whole worlds pivot on acts of imagination. 22.    MABLI: So what are you imagining now? 23.    DOCTOR: Broadly, I'm imagining that thing off this ship. Specifically, I'm trying to imagine the answer to the question, what does it want? 24.    MABLI: Does it have to want anything? 25.    DOCTOR: Every living thing, from the tiniest to the largest, wants something. Food, survival, peace.
26.    MABLI: But the first thing it did was kill Astos. That must be what it wants to do to all of us. 27.    DOCTOR: You know, there's a much faster way back to Resus One. Why is it routing us this way? 28.    MABLI: Asteroid field. Fast-moving asteroids all around. Really unpredictable. (An alarm sounds.) 29.    DOCTOR: What are these? 30.    MABLI: They're... bad. This craft has over 5,000 different scan sensors. They're constantly feeding back to Resus One. They monitor everything, both internally and externally, check the routing's stable and there are no hostile forms, however microbial, on board. The systems have detected the Pting. They're asking us to confirm or deny anything's wrong. We can't take a creature like that back to Resus One. There's thousands of vulnerable patients. 31.    DOCTOR: And if we confirm it's on board? 32.    MABLI: They'll recommend evacuation. 33.    DOCTOR: But we can't evacuate. 34.    MABLI: They go straight to RST. Remote structural termination. They destroy the ship. 35.    DOCTOR: Right.     Nothing wrong. We're fine. 36.    MABLI: We can't keep doing that. Three dismissals and they don't believe you. Precautionary detonation. 37.    DOCTOR: Oh, great. Who designed that? So this ship either gets destroyed by that creature, or by control from Resus One? 38.    MABLI: Yeah. Sorry.
39.    DOCTOR: I thought there'd be more questions. 40.    CICERO: I've encountered a Pting before. It massacred my fleet. 41.    DOCTOR: Okay. What did you learn about them? What do they want? 42.    CICERO: They kill. Relentlessly. 43.    MABLI: It must've got to the central systems. That means we'll soon lose oxygen and heat. 44.    CICERO: It'll go for whatever's powering the craft next. 45.    MABLI: We're on an anti-matter drive. 46.    CICERO: We could use stazers to defend ourselves. They can stun it briefly. Got any on board? 47.    MABLI: A couple, I think, in here. 48.    CICERO: If we're going to live through this... 49.    MABLI+CICERO+DOCTOR: Protect the anti-matter drive! 50.    DOCTOR: Snap! 51.    CICERO: Can we get to Resus One any faster than currently routed? 52.    DOCTOR: Not without breaking the ship's auto-routing, which would send a signal back to Resus One. 53.    CICERO: And they'd go straight to Hostility Protocols. 54.    DOCTOR: I could create a false positive route signal to send back, but there's no manual controls in the NavChamber. 55.    CICERO: Show us.
56.    DOCTOR: Everything okay? 57.    CICERO: Yeah. 58.    DOCTOR: With me, please. 59.     YASMIN: Where do you think it is right now? 60.    DOCTOR: I don't know. I can't trace it since the diagnostic systems drained. 61.    MABLI: Doctor, quick word, private. 62.    DOCTOR: Catch you up. Go on. 63.    MABLI: Eve Cicero. Her condition... 64.    DOCTOR: What about it? 65.    MABLI: Patient confidentiality. I can't discuss with you. But if you're a doctor, maybe you should examine her. I've got to go.
66.    DOCTOR: Sorry, where are we? Oh, anti-matter drive. What century is this? 67.    CICERO: Are you joking? 68.    DOCTOR: No. We travel in Time. 69.    CICERO: Are you joking now? 70.    DOCTOR: No. 71.    DURKAS: 67th. 72.    DOCTOR: Ah. Nice century. Bit tricky in the middle. It turns out all right in the end. See this, Yaz? Anti-matter drive. 73.    YASMIN: Oh. I did a bit on anti-matter at school. Never quite understood it. 74.    DOCTOR: The thing with anti-matter is you have to either find it or generate it. That's what this bit does. Particle accelerator. 75.    YASMIN: Like at CERN? We did that in physics. No, but the thing at CERN is massive. 76.    DOCTOR: In your time, generating anti-matter cost a massive amount of money. This is progress. Things get smaller, faster and cheaper. This is like the iPhone version of CERN, accelerating enough particles to power this entire craft. 77.    YASMIN: So how does it work? 78.    DOCTOR: The particle accelerator smashes the atoms together, like a little anti-matter factory, to produce positrons, which are then stored very carefully inside electric and magnetic fields. The positrons interact with the fuel materials to produce heat, which produces thrust. 79.    DURKAS: It's pretty old school, this one. 80.    DOCTOR: It's beautiful. Anti-matter powering the movement of matter. Bringing positrons into existence to move other forms of life across space. I love it. Conceptually, and actually. Yaz, you have to keep this safe from the Pting. If this drive gets destroyed, this ship will lose propulsion, we'll drift endlessly while the Pting... 81.    YASMIN: I get it. It won't be good.
82.    DOCTOR: Why are you on this ship, General? 83.    CICERO: Corton fever. Contracted it on my last duty. Can't quite shake it. What are you doing? 84.    DOCTOR: Hmm. Why would you be using adrenaline blockers for corton fever? 85.    CICERO: How do you know about the blockers? 86.    DOCTOR: Your slow pulse, my really good hearing. You asked Ronan for some. It isn't corton fever, is it. Is it pilot's heart? I'm sorry, Eve, but if we're going to survive this, you need to be honest with me. 87.    CICERO: I started as a pulse pilot. I graduated to Neuro Fleet Commander faster than anyone in Keeban history. I'm the most decorated general. I'm the poster woman. I cannot have pilot's heart. I cannot be that example to others. 88.    DOCTOR: But you have. And you've been using more and more blocker shots to get through the day. 89.    CICERO: Trying to control the surges of adrenaline around the heart. One big surge could kill me. 90.    CICERO: Ever flown that way? 91.    DOCTOR: No, but you could talk me through it. 92.    CICERO: It takes people a dozen years to train. 93.    DOCTOR: Oh, I really need to spend more time in the 67th century. 94.    CICERO: I know how to do this. I'm not stopping now. Everyone's going to live. Including me!
95.    DOCTOR: Mabli said that Resus One would terminate the ship if they found a Pting on board. How would they do that? It's too far for missiles. It has to be the same for every Tsurangan Rescue Craft. It's built in. Self-detonation. 96.    YASMIN: Bingo. 97.    DOCTOR: Ten points for Yasmin Khan. And yes, I am keeping score, for all of you. 98.    DOCTOR: Pick a number between 1 and 100. 99.    YASMIN: 51. 100.    DOCTOR: Pentagonal number. Interesting. 101.    (She sonicks the bomb and the countdown beeps start.) 102.    DOCTOR: Get in that corner. 103.    YASMIN: What was the number for? 104.    DOCTOR: Number of seconds before the bomb goes off. I moved it forward a bit. 105.    YASMIN: What? I would've gone higher! 106.    DOCTOR: Good number, 51. 107.     YASMIN: I'm really trusting you on this bomb, but I don't know what you're doing. 108.    DOCTOR: Think of the Pting as a mouse, and the bomb as a piece of cheese. 109.    YASMIN: A very large piece of cheese about to explode and take us all with it. 110.    DOCTOR: It's not a perfect analogy, I'll admit. You could've picked a bigger number. Where is it? Come on.
111.    DOCTOR: As the bomb gets closer, the energy's building, getting ready to blow. The Pting must be attracted to that, surely. That's what I've been working on this whole time. Oh, please don't be wrong. I'd be so embarrassed. 112.    YASMIN: And dead. Doctor... (The Pting arrives.) 113.    DOCTOR: I'm not bad. Admit it. I'm not bad. It's all in the timing. 114.    MABLI: They, er... they say quarantine scanning and craft detox should take no more than three hours, then they'll admit us to the facility. They're booking your teleport to Seffilun, as soon as you've spoken to the investigators. 115.    DOCTOR: Thank you, Mabli. I'll be sure to tell them how brilliant you were. 116.    MABLI: You all were. Light in dark times. 117.    DOCTOR: People prevail. Hope prevails.

oh, captain, let's make a deal (where we both say the things that we both really feel) by spacebetweengalaxies (alternatively titled "pirate au" or "the doctor and her polycule")
rating: M (due to discussions of drowning relating to a sea monster incident), word count: 50k, ships include 13/rose, 13/river, spydoc, *and more*
When Theta wakes up alone on her ship, the Ghost Monument, the word "Byzantium" is written on every surface in her handwriting, but she has no memory of writing it. In fact, she has barely any memory at all.
When she docks at Canary Wharf, she finds her old friends Jack and Yaz, who volunteer to help her with the mystery. Except, Yaz doesn't know who she is, and Jack says he has only known her for a couple months. What happened to Theta, where is the rest of her crew, and how can she undo the curse that has erased her memories?

Hello there!
60-year special make me come back. I also decided to post and show you what I am working on.
For those who don't know me, I was the one always obssesing about Missy version of the Master. This story starts right after the Grace funeral. It will be a centrally longer story planing on 12 chapters.
Tw : Doctor has a panick attack.
I am again obssed with Missy and her love for the Doctor...
Take this like just little sneak peak....
----------
Of lost years, months, days, hours, minutes, seconds.
She had seen too many funerals. She stayed hidden in the corner. She wasn't in fact thinking of Grace and Graham when she should. Her mind was racing.
She lost so many people. Oh so many.
Rose, Donna , Wilfred, Amy, Rory ….River, Master …Missy.
Every thought on every name hurts. She never grieves over people she lost, she usually just tries to move away and keep a smile on face. Any face she was wearing.
She felt tears on face and couldn't anymore listen to people speaking of Grace no. She looked outside and her lips left gasp for air. People didn't look at her, everyone lost in their own grief.
Was it what she thought it was? Or was it just a shadow?
Definitely just a shadow she couldn't see right?
She hid her face in her hands for a moment. She had to be dreaming there is no possibility she would see her, right?
“Doctor?” The voice brings her back minutes later from her own mind. She could feel a gentle touch on her arm. She looked up and saw the hazelnut eyes of Yaz.
“Are you alright?”
“Me? Definitely. I am alright “ She shakes head and stands up. “I should go. Before any of you get hurt. All I do is hurt people “ She said wiping her own tears from face.
Yasmine watched her and pulled her in a hug for a short moment. “You aren't hurting people. I am sure you do more than that.”
Doctor for a moment allowed herself to be held. She felt for a single moment. “I should leave Yaz” She whispered more to herself than Yaz. She bit her lips and let the girl go. She shakes head and leaves the room. She needed air. It suffocated her. She walked out quickly without looking back.
She felt how her chest started to hurt. If she would be a human she would be sure it's her heart. But right now she knows. That feeling which was so close to overcoming its huge anxiety and guilt. All feelings she tries to stop herself from feeling.
She rushed inside her Tardis and leaned about the door from inside. There she allowed herself to feel it. Her lips left a long scream of pain and all these gathered feelings and she hit the door with both fists.
She felt tears in her eyes which were about to spill and the Tardis made a long beeping sound trying to calm her Doctor.
Then a soft knock on the door came. “Doctor, are you here? Can you come out please. “
She sighed when she heard Yasmine with others. She didn't want to go anywhere. She mumbled words in old Gallifreyan language. She took a long , shaky breath and opened the door after she stood up.
“Doctor…we come say goodbye “ Graham spoke and pulled Doctor to hug. He spoke quietly. “It's not your fault I know it's not “ He said quietly and when he let her eyes meet.
“Yaz said you are wanting to just disappear on us. “ Rayn spoke as he crossed his arms a little.
Doctor shaked head and she wanted to say more but when all four of them shared a hug she couldn't tell the difference. “Do you really wanna go with me to see the universe and see stars?” She asked the question and when they spoke back she had to smile. They wanted to go with her.
She chuckled little “that will give you a bit of shock come in “ She spoke and opened Tardis door. The tardis make another noise. Noise which doesn't seem to be such a distress like a moment back. More like humming.
“Welcome to the Tardis. And don't be shocked, it's indeed bigger on the inside!” She said and let all of 3 of them in. “Fam …you should wait “ She rushed to the control panel and pulled for some levers and characteristic noise came out of the Tardis rotor. She smiled hearing it.
“I will show you the way to your room when you are here with me. And I…” Doctor looks for the right words, her eyes still on the sensor on the control panel. There was someone in her own room. There were very few people who could be here and Tardis would let them inside.
“I need a long shower!” She said smiling “come on!” She said talking to them in many Tardis corridors. “Yaz you first!” She said and her voice echoed by the hall.
The girl opened the door and her eyes widened “I love that!” She said stepping in the room. Doctor smiled and Tardis still could modify it to people she decided to bring in.
“Graham there and yours here Rayan “ She said, showing on both doors. “I need my shower. My room is far to this hall at the end “ She explained and left both boys and Yasmine behind. She walked quickly. When she open the door of her room she gasped a little. There was no one. The room was empty. Having the huge bed in the middle of the bed was a huge library. She walked slowly to bed. Then she heard a voice from the corner where the door to the bathroom was located.
“You finally could afford the upgrade?”
She closed her eyes and she was sure she was dreaming imagining.
“You aren't here. “ She spoke back, her voice lower. The tears were about to spill out again.
“Oh I am indeed here my dear Doctor “ The voice continued and became more surprised as the Doctor sat on the ground and hid her face as if she wouldn't want to look at her. She basically wrapped herself in the fetal position not wanting to hear or rather didn't want to believe that she is in fact here and alive.
Doctor could feel hand on her shoulder and then feel the weight of the hug. No more words were spoken for a moment till she didn't look up, meeting the familiar eyes of Missy.
“It's a post regeneration mess or you really can't be without me…” The teasing voice trailed off when she realized the blonde in her arms is in fact crying. Missy didn't think just traced her fingertips on the Doctor's face. “Shhh I am alive. You won't get rid of me easily. Don't speak just ..” Missy decided immediately and leaned down a little more her lips touched Doctors and her fingers gently moved to her hair. She kind of expected the Doctor would hit her but the hit didn't come. Doctor decided immediately she slowly put her arms around Missy and now they had been holding each other in embrace and the kiss made it even better.
“So I am not dreaming, will you stay travel to the stars with me ,” She spoke against her archenemy lips.
“Yes. I will. But first get up Doctor, you know well after regeneration you need to rest. Or you will pass out and from what I understood you saved these little humans again. “ She spoke, helping her up slowly and then in bed.
Doctor kicked down shoes and pulled down her coat. “Be here when I wake up if you won't. I will track you in the end of universe and ….” She closed her eyes and opened them quickly. “And what killed me ?” Missy chuckled a little bit.
“Killing! Don't…I have 3 humans on Tardis. Be nice for once, would you for me?” The doctor asked before her eyes closed and Missy knew she had hours before the Doctor would be up to talk with her. She smiled for herself. This will be a ride. She knows it will be.
