Where are my headcanons about rural, traditional Mandalorians who wear a few pieces of armor that's mostly leather anyway, and just grimace every time someone comes through trying to recruit for Death Watch or the True Mandos or any other political faction that thinks they're Not Like Other Mandalorians, and the rural Mandos are just cringing away and trying not to meet their eyes like Can You Please Leave Me To My Tractor In Peace.
Is there a war? No. Is the Mand'alor calling us to arms in defense of our people? No. Is this for local enforcement, like dragging people to the drunk tank and keeping that dispute about the bantha from getting into blaster territory? No.
They may not be New Mandalorian pacifists, but that doesn't mean they're warrior class! Their families have been farmers for centuries! They don't pick up arms unless it's desperate or in self defense!
Why are you here, we just want to farm, go away.

Snippet from: When is a monster not a monster? Oh, when you love it. Chapter 5
Ghost Mace speaks to past Jaster (alive) and tells him what he knows of Jango's future, in the life he lived.
Mace's brow stiffened. "When we realised what we had done, we tried to find him but we could not."
"We tried to find the True Mandolorian's but the survivors had fled in all directions. We did try and see justice done, there was an overhaul of our internal mission preparation process. We changed our training. Dooku left the order as did his apprentice."
"None of it could make up for what we did. Years after the fact, I learnt that Jango was sold in to slavery by the governor. It took him years to escape. I learnt of the weight of what we had done in helping end the True Mandolorian's. In leaving Death Watch unchecked."
He meets Jaster's eyes. "We are here to discuss why we haunt Jango, but it would be remiss of me to not tell you that your son has haunted me every single day since the day I left on a mission to retrieve him; to attempt to offer reparations for what my peoples neglect brought down on him, and came home empty handed."
" We thought him dead, but I did not forget him. From that day, I've carried the weight of what we did to him. I have often thought of him over the years." Mace shook his head.
"You hold no blame here, but we just might."
And isn't that a thing. His son haunting a Jedi even before that Jedi might haunt him.
Jango is tangled up in something here far beyond Jaster's reckoning.
Mace is laying out the constituent parts that when put together, make Jango in to the man that is responsible for the death of every single person standing in that warehouse. Jaster isn't sure where that leaves him, because once he's done hearing this story, in the years that lay ahead of them yet, every single one of these horrible pieces is going to fall in to place. Tragedy after Tragedy ready to be pasted and slapped on to the boy he loves, his son, in order to make him in to the man that did this.
How the hell can Jaster stand by and let that happen?
There are no rules that apply to Jaster, not anymore. He doesn't care about morality or the ethics of fucking with a future that's apparently already happened. He has no care for his own code, not now. None of it matters.
Jaster is Jango's buir, before all else. He has been from the day he stepped in to a smoldering farmhouse and against the odds saw signs of life dancing across his HUD. The Ka'ra gave him Jango and by god, it can stand back while he brings his son back from the abyss.
Mace is watching him. "Jaster, you had no hand in making Jango Fett the man he became at the end. You did not abandon him, you were taken from him. I need you to know this. You should know that none of this was your fault. "
Jaster doesn't care. It doesn't matter if its his fault or not, he is responsible all the same; because he wants to be. He didn't fall in to parenthood, he walked in to it willingly. For Jango, there is no monster that Jaster will not face.
The ka'ra has given him one last gift. The opportunity to see Jango's life after Jaster, and a few precious years in which to try and change them. It may not be in Jaster's power to save his son from himself but by god, he'll die trying.
He looks at the Jedi.  "Tell me the rest."
Some of my thoughts below the cut
Some of my thoughts (because clearly rambling in the comments hasn't been enough for me lol)
I had a lot of fun with this one. I've written about ghosts before but with this one, I went at it from another angle. In this au, ghosts aren't bound by linear time. If you do something that leaves a ghost tied to your soul, they are tied to you in the past as well as the future. Jango and Jaster are both Force Sensitive (tho with a Mando understanding of it. They call it 'star touched') and so can see ghosts.
In this fic, moving in with Jaster sets Jango on the path that brings him to the prequels. Once he's on that path, the ghosts that'll be tied to him in his future, can move freely along the timeline, with each of them pulled to a particular version of Jango. Jango will obviously be responsible for the deaths of quite a few people, there are his bounties, the Jedi and the clones and so on; but when the first ghost appears he's just a kid. The story deals with Jaster coming to terms with the fact that his kid, who he loves beyond reason, even if he stumbled upon him quite by accident, one day becomes the person that will make all these ghosts.
At first there's only one ghost in their time, but Jaster can't let it go (tho he knows he should), he needs to know what happens. So he keeps asking until she admits that she isn't the only ghost and that they are tied to Jango as he's responsible for their deaths. Then, he keeps pushing until she introduces him to the others. She gathers them in a warehouse (so Jango doesn't see) and takes Jaster there.
In the part of the story this snippet is from, Jaster has just been confronted with an excessive number of people (including children) who are all tied to Jango as he's responsible for their deaths. He's had a (understandable) freak out, and ghost Mace has taken him aside and offered to tell him what he knows of Jango's future, and how it led to the death of so many people.
What follows is a buddy up adventure between Mace and Jaster (unlikely duo) in which Jaster tries to come to terms with what Mace has told him, and the horrible events that led to Jango becoming the man that would one day be responsible for all these ghosts. While he tries to save Jango from himself, long before he needs saving.
The idea behind the fic is the inevitability of a tragedy. There's a feeling when you're watching a tragedy play out, that it's all so unnecessary, that it didn't need to happen, but you only know that because as the audience you know that they are in a tragedy, the characters don't know. So what if a character did know? Jaster is served advance notice, will having that allow him to save Jango, or will it just feed in to the fulfillment of this prophetic future?
I wanted to explore the fact that there's only so much one particular character can do, in trying to prevent the end another is headed towards and also, the power of familial love, even when it's found somewhere unexpected. Jaster isn't Jango's blood family, he didn't even know him till he was an older child, which I think makes his love for Jango in spite of knowing what he will become, all the more powerful. The glimpse of Jango's future is disgusting to Jaster, it goes against all he believes in, but its Jango so he can't hate him for it, he loves him too much and so, he's determined to save him from himself. He's willing to do the impossible.
Then there's Mace: so in this au, Mace is sent out shortly after Galidraan, when it becomes clear to the order that they've made a mistake, to find the survivor they left in the hands of the Governor, and to right a wrong. He isn't successful, he looks everywhere but he can't find him, and in the end the order write him off as dead. In this au, Jango was 18 on Galidraan and what Mace sees as his failure to save someone that was little more as a child, and suffered so greatly thanks to what the order see as their own neglect, haunts him for the rest of his career.
Its that idea of 'the one case you couldn't close'. It's at the start of his career and he goes on to do amazing things, Mace is peak Jedi, he invents a new form, he's one of the youngest Jedi to be elected to the council, he ends up heading that council, but he is still human (or near human lol sw complicates everything. he's 100% human in a fallible/emotional/sapient sense) I think that as a Master Jedi he's very aware of his own weaknesses, and he tries to work through it, he talks to it with other Jedi, and he certainly doesn't let it affect his judgement, but he can't forget it all the same.
So it's this version of Mace that ended up meeting Jango in the arena. Which I think adds such an interesting angle.
#Jaster Mereel#Mace#I've been thinking about this one (and a part of chapter 7 which i might post as another snippet)#cause i saw a poll talking about who was responsible for Jango's death and I've got a lot of opinions about that#that can not be contained by a poll lol. it's something i explored in this fic#pretty much. i think that Mace had no choice but i don't think he'd agree with that. i think he'd struggle with having killed Jango and#how he killed him. (decapitation. a particularly violent move. which i don't think he had a choice in. but yeah think he'd struggle)#i think that Jango pretty much ensured his own end and was too intelligent to not realise he was doing that so i think that was a#self hatred/survivors guilt/'i have lived past my end' kind of thing#i also think that Jango was only the person that always would have brought death upon himself like that because his past made him so#and i think his past was bad enough to make him that because it suited the greater narrative to have him end up like that#it suited palps ends pretty much. did palps know he was doing that or did the universe just work in his favour? who knows.#still worked out well for him#the poll got me thinking about Mace which got me thinking about this fic but writing about the fic has me thinking about this fic again#kinda tempted to go through it again and give it a bit of a face lift. old once over. shine it up a bit#I've always hated that it's 17 chapters tbh. want it to be 15 or 20. i don't think I'll address that this time tho.#might just try an edit however#has this???? no i won't say it. not to curse it but... the editing/ read back block may... be shifting. possibly.#considering an edit hadn't seemed so possible in a while.#there are so many things i need to look over once i can lol I've posted things still in draft state#that's cool tho. no problem. not thinking about that just thinking about how nice it would be to give this old thing a shine#Mace is so ready here to absorb all the blame for everything on the order (and by extension him) but its really not on them

You ever get so deep into a fic that the characters keep responding in character and it irritates you bc thats not how you would respond but it is in fact totally in character with that character so you can't even be mad abt it but you're still mad

I am taking your star wars and making it happy because it's too sad.
☆ brain thoughts:
》 Din was taken in and trained by Jango & Jaster instead of the Children of the Watch
》 everyone is ALIVE everyone is HAPPY and the only bad joojoo that happens is typical war stuff minus the empire, fuck you palpatine ya ain't hurting my babies
》 because this is my au and it's my rules, I say the Jedi Order have some sort of rule that only Jedi Masters can have "attachments" which Obi-Wan said fuck yeah and married the heck outta Jango. Later on with the usual Council being shit to Anakin and refusing to make him a Master, I say he ends up leaving the order and lives a life with Padme and his now mixed Mandalorian family because that boy has been through shit.
》 my favorite trope for Jangobi getting together is either of them having to return their kid back to the other because they're troublemaker gremlins and they bond over their babies, stop a war, save their clone army kids from evil old man chip and then boom they perform riduurok.
》 this is basically my excuse to draw baby Din and baby Boba together and growing up and being trained plus Boba pinning over his cute friend. They earn their armor and run off to be bounty hunters together
》 Korda Six still happened but Jaster survived because I say so and instead of trying to reclaim the title of Mand'alor he goes fuck this shit, come here son we're living the life of beroya and off they go
And that's pretty much it, my brain has been scream at me to continue this doodle I did a while ago so here it is. I have no idea what I'm doing with this my brain just wants me to draw some bobadin and jangobi doodles.
Also have a bonus baby Fennec :)

Tarre Vizsla, hanging out in the Darksaber break room, idk how haunted lightsabers work: Oh? Hmmm ....
Jaster Mereel, also chilling out in the Darksaber break room with a cup of shig and another holobook on Mandalorian history: What is it?
Tarre Vizsla: It seems that someone new has claimed ownership of my lightsaber.
Jaster Mereel, no longer interested: And? The Darksaber changes hands so often nowadays, I'm surprised you even commented on it-
Tarre Vizsla: No, you don't understand. This Mandalorian doesn't even know what the Darksaber is.
Jaster Mereel: ....
Tarre Vizsla: And now he's trying to give the Darksaber away to the other Kryze child.
Jaster Mereel: .... he's what?
Tarre Vizsla: Trying to give the Darksaber away. Strange. It seems he is also a child of the Watch.
Jaster Mereel: Death Watch?
Tarre Vizsla: Indeed.
Jaster Mereel: And he doesn't actually want the Darksaber?
Tarre Vizsla: He seems absolutely desperate to get rid of it.
Jaster Mereel: .....
Tarre Vizsla: .....
Tarre Vizsla: Wanna haunt him?
Jaster Mereel, putting his holobook down: *sighs* Alright, yeah, sure. Why kriffing not?

Ok this is SO plagiarizing directly from you but I had a thought and I HAD to send it (bc it sounds like despite his exile he took out the person in power bc they sucked, I’m no expert, I’m literally learning this all from your beautiful fic): Mandalore the Righteous
omg glad you are enjoying the fic so much! yes jaster, uh, killing a superior officer for corruption / unnamed crimes is canon jaster backstory. that is all the detail given in canon but obviously we are Expanding on that alskdjflsdk
HERE'S THE THING. the title of mandalore the righteous is definitely Fitting, however the title is, uh. meant to be sort of a red-herring aklsdjfklsadj
it was definitely Not intended to be his title, but i am stewing on it a bit more now

It's probably my own fault for reading star wars fic. But I got inspired by a fic where myles and Jango hire Obi-Wan for a night to do the horizontal tango and that spirals into obi getting pregnant and having their kids and becoming their rid riduur. But it's unfinished but awesome. Great fic.
Then I started thinking, so what if Obi-Wan didn't have to sell his own body but plays the sabbac tables and Myles the pantoran mandalorian catches him and propositions him like, hey, see my friend over there (pointing to a disguised jango), yeah we're looking for a hot, smart guy like you to spend a night with us. What do you think?
And at first, Obi-Wan is like... dude I'm not a prostitute. (He needs money though, he is considering it).
But then myles goes: oh no no no I know, we're not trying to buy you, we just want to have fun, and in exchange you'll get like, whatever you want. Except an assassination or whatever. But like food, credits, medicine, that kind of thing.
And Obi-Wan agrees. He sleeps with them, gets a bunch of extra credits. Loses his virginity (he's 20, Jango and Myles are 33 and 30 respectively). Gets knocked up but doesn't know it yet. The usual.
He skedaddles out of town with Satine, who he's protecting. But then Death Watch is on his ass again and he has to fight them off. And guess who's been watching him??? Right the two dudes who fucked him a little while back.
So then Obi-Wan gets invited back to keldabe with Satine. And he finds out that, guess what, those dudes he fucked, yeah, they're the mand'alor and riduur. Whoops.
But at least the mand'alor's father Jaster (who is alive but retired in this, don't ask why just roll with it) really likes him and so do Jango's sisters Arla and Astra. And Obi-Wan finds himself navigating this entire shit show of mandalorian politics, family dynamics, a polyamorous relationship, and force knows what else gets thrown his way.
And anyway, that's what I'm working on.

i love star wars time travel fix-it as much as the next guy, but we need to be thinking bigger! none of this ‘clone wars obiwan goes back to his childhood’ nonsense, let’s see how far we can rocket some unsuspecting force sensitive back in time
now, i’m not familiar with anything outside of movies/tv shows, so someone else could probably rocket them further, but i wanna send like rey, freshly skywalker’d, back to like pre jaster mereel’s death. yes i want her to be like 10 and feral and adopted by jaster. because he’s my favorite and i said so.
so she’s just standing there with her yellow lightsaber that is now far too big for her child hands, suddenly she has a shiny new buir and an eight year old brother that seems vaguely familiar??? like his name rings a bell?? but what could this little kid possibly do that would have such an effect on galactic history that she would know of him like 90ish years in the future???
so basically rey’s wracking her brain for that one pre-imperial history class she took that one time for anything useful she can do to help save the future. all she’s able to come up with is pretty much ‘palpatine bad’. rey would totally just go off on her own to kill him (and make sure he stays dead, the crafty bitch), but jaster seems strangely reluctant to let his ten year old daughter take a ship by herself to assassinate an extremely small-time politician from a peaceful world without any sort of explanation.
but regardless, rey kinda just ends up butterfly-effecting stuff as she grows up a little bit. like preventing jaster’s death and galidraan. in turn, leading to jango not building his revenge army and a generally more stable mandalore system, maybe?? all the while, she’s is getting some sick mando training and super cool armor, like any self-respecting jedi-adopted-by-mandalorians would.
actually, at galidraan, rey’s able to meet up with some jedi for the first time! hooray! dooku’s not quite sure what to do with this strange, unknown, armored, force sensitive teen with a weird, jerry-rigged lightsaber.
rey takes this opportunity to lay out every bad thing palpatine has done/will do in the most incoherent way possible. when asked how she knows this, rey panics and answers that the force told her so. unbeknownst to her, this is actually a completely valid answer to give these jedi masters, and the incoherence of her explanation made it seem even more plausible to be a string of confusing force visions, rather than being completely made up. the masters, particularly dooku, promise to look into the possibility of a sith and ask rey if she’d like to come to the temple with them.
she, of course, goes ‘yes, absolutely! i’ll go tell buir and jango that we’ll all take a trip to coruscant together!’ and the masters just grimace and go ‘yeah for sure that’s definitely what we meant’
they go to the temple, and amongst talks about the sith, and jaster just having a delightful time in the jedi archives (rey has a delightful time too, just think of how master skywalker would react to all these jedi texts!), rey gets to meet a preteen obiwan! fresh off of child soldier-ing on melida/daan! he’s a little traumatized at the moment, but rey is just so excited to finally recognize a historical figure other than her shitty grandpa. she then obviously latches onto little obiwan and like. vibes with him. obiwan is a little baffled by this cool older mandalorian teen that seemingly wants to be his best friend, but he’ll take all the friends he can get after the stressful few months he’s had. rey scares off anyone (padawan, knight, or master) who might give obiwan any shit for melida/daan related stuff. or just anyone that gives him any shit at all.
eventually, palpatine is arrested for tax fraud. he actually is pretty new at the whole ‘sith machinations’ thing at this point, so he didn’t hide his simple tax fraud very well and after his arrest, the jedi are able to get him for the more sith-y crimes. so then the jedi go on the hunt for the sith master.
while they do all that, rey is able to go back to mandalorian space with jaster and jango, making sure to have weekly holo-calls with obiwan and his friends. rey may really miss all her friends and the whole support system she left behind in the future, but she’s got a pretty good support system here as well. hopefully because of her, those friends she left behind in the future will be able to live full, free, and peaceful lives.

So I finally read Time in the hourless houses, and oh my god, Jaster admitting that his son was both dar'manda and demagolka. Acknowledging that Jango had fallen so far that he killed children just so he could have his revenge in the form of a genocide.
Yeah, it is....not a happy story where the Jaster-Jango relationship is concerned. Jaster is in a pretty nasty spiral over what his son did and became, and it's just. it's a tragedy because there's no fixing it and also Jaster will never escape the reminder, because Jango imprinted his face into the millions of men he sold as slaves and condemned to death.
Honestly it's kind of easy to see why Jaster went full Dark Side when he came back to that.

yeah yeah, i'm talking a lot about my star wars idiots all of a sudden, but like there's really no funnier set of sentences i've ever written than
"I don't know if Jaster ever had that particular talk with you, but humans need two people to make a baby."
"Myl, we're standing in a cloning facility."

Can you write a cute piece with Jaster where he comes back from a long mission and finds the reader and Jango asleep together in his bed waiting for him? Maybe turns a little smutty at the end?
The Mand'alor's Aliit
Summary: Jaster's been gone for weeks, and now that he's back, some hard truths have come to light.
Pairing: Jaster Mereel x F!Reader
Word Count: 1714
Warnings: Reader was physically assaulted, Jaster's temper
Tagging: @trixie2023 @n0vqni
A/N: I know you said you wanted a little smutty, and I'm sorry that this didn't turn out that way. I had a story that needed to be written, and smut just didn't make sense with what I had. Please feel free to send another request that I'll do better on next time.
Tumblr media
When you agreed to go on a date with Jaster, it was well before he was elected Mand’alor. Sure, you’ve always known that your ambitious man wanted more for his people, but the title Mand’alor wasn’t something that he specifically vied for.
And then he was elected, and things became a lot more complicated.
The Mandalorians didn’t like you. They didn’t like you when you were just some upstart who managed to catch the attention of Jaster, and they definitely didn’t like that Jaster went to you for advice when he became Mand’alor.
However, no one pushed anything because you’re not Jaster’s Riduur. So far as they’re aware, the relationship is pretty shallow.
So when Jaster comes home with a recently orphaned 8 year old, announcing that he adopted young Jango, and then when you quietly adopted Jango as well, people suddenly started paying attention.
And that’s when the missions started. Long term missions, taking Jaster away from you, and Jango, for weeks at a time. Maybe they thought that sending him away would drive a wedge between the pair of you, but they couldn’t be more wrong if they tried.
“I miss buir,” Jango mumbles miserably as he buries himself against your side, “And I hate the other Mandalorians.” He adds, sounding even more miserable when he sees you wince in pain when you move to embrace him.
“I know you do, kiddo. I miss him too.” You smooth your hand through his curly hair. Today had been especially bad in terms of everything. Normally the people who stood opposed to you wouldn’t dare lay a hand on you.
But they had been drinking, and they forgot themselves, and yeah, you won that fight, even though it was four on one, but you still have a cracked rib and pretty severe bruising to show for it.
Worse than that is the fact that Jango witnessed the whole thing. Which means he’s about three times as clingy as he would normally be. And you tolerate it because he’s your kid and you love him. You love him enough to allow him to crawl into your bed, and cling to you while you soothe him to sleep.
You’re not really surprised when you drift off to sleep as well.
It’s several hours later when you stir awake at the sensation of Jango getting pulled away from you. And while normally your reaction would be to shoot first and ask questions never, a warm hand on your shoulder and Jaster’s voice in your ear, encouraged you to not shoot him.
You watch, half asleep, as Jaster carries Jango out of the room. And then you sit up, and you carefully stretch. Sleeping the way you were did nothing to help the pain in your side…you should have known better.
The door slides open again, and Jaster steps into the room, “Cyare,” His voice is low, exhausted, but he sounds thrilled to see you, “I didn’t mean to wake you.”
The lights are still off, but there’s enough light for you to watch him remove his armor. And you smile as you cross your legs, “Welcome back,” You say first, “You’re lucky I didn’t shoot you when I felt you pulling Jango away.” You add easily.
His fingers pause on the seal of his thigh plates and he groans low in his throat, “That’s probably the hottest thing I’ve ever heard you say.”
You laugh softly, “I think you’re overtired if you think my threatening to shoot you is hot.”
Jaster laughs, and resumes removing his armor. He sets the whole set to the side to be dealt with later, and then he peels his bodysuit off and tosses it into the laundry. And only then does he climb into bed.
He lays on his pillow for a moment, and you watch him relax into the soft mattress with a fond smile on your face.
And then he rolls over and crashes his lips against yours. “Missed you,” He rumbles against your lips, “Hate those long missions.”
“Missed you more,” You reply as you kiss him quickly.
Jaster pins both of your wrists over your head with one hand, and he releases a quiet laugh, “I don’t think that’s possible, cyare.” He kisses you deeply, and then moves his lips to your neck, “Missed you like a missing limb.” He slides his hand under your sleep shirt, and drags his hand up your side.
His fingers trail over your ribs, and a sharp hiss escapes you without your permission.
And Jaster freezes. He carefully presses his hand over the painful spot on your side, and then he releases your wrists and reaches over to turn on the lamp.
You squint at the sudden light, and Jaster’s fingers are very gentle as he slides your shirt up and over your head. His gaze is sharp as he takes in the red bruises covering a large portion of your body. He brushes his fingers over the swollen and split knuckles on both of your hands. And then he presses his hand flat over your cracked rib.
“Is it broken?” His voice is very, very even. And you know that he’s furious.
“Cracked.” You reply as you settle back on your pillow.
“So yes.”
“We both know that a crack and a break are totally different.” You point out with a sigh, as you trail a single finger over his arm.
“What happened, cyare?” Jaster asks, his gaze falling to your forearms, “These look like self-defense bruises.”
You sigh, “You’re not wrong.”
His eyes go cold, “Someone attacked you.” It’s not a question.
“You know as well as I do that there are some factions within the Haat who don’t approve of me…or Jango.”
Somehow, his eyes go colder, “I didn’t see any marks on Jango.”
You scoff, “I know I can’t hold my own against you, Jas, but if they even considered touching Jango, we’d be having a very different conversation. Very likely from the safety of my ship, in orbit.”
It’s the truth. If you thought, for a moment, that Jango was in danger on Mandalore, you’d take him and leave. And you both know it.
“Who hurt you?”
“They’re in the hospital.” You reply.
“Cyare-”
“Jaster.” He stops and regards you thoughtfully, “They’re in the hospital. You can’t do anything about it now.”
He inhales deeply, “Has anyone done this before?”
“I can handle a few pointed barbs, Jaster.”
His jaw clenches, “Why do they hate you so much?” He hisses, fury writ in every line of his body.
“Because I’m an outsider, and was barely good enough when you were just a son of Clan Mereel.” You reach up and lightly caress his cheek, “They thought I was your whore, and then we adopted a child together, and proved that I’m more than that.”
“They call you that? To your face?”
“Not when you’re around.” You sigh and tug him down so you’re able to kiss him, “Breathe, love.”
“They hate you that much?” Jaster asks.
“‘Fraid so.” Your smile is wry, “They want you to marry some proper Mando, raise an army of little mando children, and I’m not an acceptable choice.”
“That’s…that’s the dumbest kriffing-” He takes a deep breath, and then he cups your face, “You’re my choice. Always have been, from the first time I saw you-”
“I threw a rock at you and called you dumb.”
“You did, and fell in love at that very moment.” Jaster replies with a fond smile, “You are mine,” He murmurs, “And I am yours.”
You smile up at him, “I’m not about to let some small minded people scare me away from you, love.”
“Good,” Jaster kisses you solidly, and then pulls back, “Say the Riduurok with me.”
“What?”
“Right here. Right now. I have everything we might need for it.” His gaze is intense, “Become my wife, I’ll spend the rest of eternity making sure you’re happy, and no one will ever hurt you again.”
You stare at him, and then you smile, “Alright.”
He grins at you, and carefully climbs off of you.
“Should I put on some clothes?” You joke as you carefully sit up.
“Don’t worry about it.”
************
The following morning, while you’re fast asleep in your bed, coated in a thin layer of bacta to help you heal, with Jango cuddling against you watching cartoons, Jaster calls a meeting with the heads of the various clans.
He’s calm, very calm, dangerously calm. And apparently the men and women in the room can feel it, as they settle in their seats utterly silent.
“It has come to my attention,” Jaster starts slowly, not raising his voice, not having to raise his voice to be heard, “That there is a number among you who feels that my cyare is not good enough for Mandalore.”
Some of the people sitting around the table shift uncomfortably, and Jaster pins each of them with a dark, threatening, stare.
“It has also come to my attention that the verbal abuse turned physical yesterday.” At that there’s a hint of barely controlled rage in his voice, and more than one person flinched back. “Needless to say, not happy is understating how I’m feeling at the moment.”
He pauses, and no one says anything, so Jaster nods once, “So here are the cold, hard, facts. My cyare is now my Riduur. Any attack on her will be seen as an attack on me and my clan, and I will react accordingly.” He pulls his helmet back on, “Make sure that this information is passed out accordingly.”
There are general murmurs of assent, though one brave woman stands, “Mand’alor, I have to say that I think that the woman you chose as your riduur is not good for the future of Mandalore-” She starts only to trail off when Jaster unholsters his blaster and starts examining it thoughtfully.
“Your objection has been noted, and ignored.” Jaster says mildly, “Does anyone else have any complaints?”
The room is totally silent, and Jaster nods. And then he turns and leaves the room. He has a riduur to spend time with, and an ad he hasn’t seen in weeks. And at the moment, his aliit is the only thing that matters.
