i miss the community of church sometimes. i miss sitting through four-hour sermons once a week and eating lunch as a church in the next room. i miss lining up and sitting at folding tables next to a bunch of other kids. i miss a lot of things about it. i miss having shared language, where if i said “the truth of the spirit is in her” we all knew what that meant. when the pastor said “let those who can eat without sin do so before we pray” we all knew that meant someone had been prideful. we all knew that meant someone thought they could exist without sin which is pride which is a sin. when mike stood and faced the room during worship we all knew what he meant by it. it was an understanding that comes from community and a shared foundation. i miss that. i miss the feeling of safety when id refuse communion and people would praise me for being brave and acknowledging my own sin. i miss the way i could go to almost anyone and say “this passage makes sense but i know i’m missing something. what is the context i need to understand?” and get an answer or they would present my question to whoever i cant ask that would know- the pastor or another church elder. someone it would be an imposition to approach directly, as a young person. i miss a lot of things about that particular church.

Can I request Fyodor Dostoevsky x Male reader who is a religious cult leader? (You can choose it's it's yandere, platonic, romantic, etc)

For example, the reader is a priest but is super nice, a little too nice-- Fyodor happens to run across him during in what the start of season four would be(when the ADA didn't listen to Ranpo's starting point) and deemed m/n as just: "a feeble priest" who invited him to church, however, when Fyodor decides to go to the church out of curiosity he finds out m/n is insane for whatever god he worships, instead of his soft and caring personality he had when he first met Fyodor; he now has a more crazed and insane one, "reaching the holy words" and screaming obscenities to the rest of the church members in the pews?

And possibly for an interesting touch(only for the drama because im quite obsessed with dramatic stories where characters get surprised when m/n does something), the reader usually keeps their eyes closed, eventually leading people into thinking that he is blind, only for him to open his eyes when he's doing cultist meetings?

I know this is such a strange ask 😭😭 and if it makes you uncomfortable I understand 100%, this is actually a storyline for one of my ocs, and I thought it would be neat to see this sort of storyline in your style and as a fanfic!!

you were going about your day, on your way to your work as a priest before bumping into a man. this man was no ordinary man, it was fyodor dostoevsky, a member of the decay of angels. but you didn't know that yet, and neither did he know about your secret profession.

"i'm so, so sorry!" you stutter out with a bow, keeping a nice, caring persona on to lure fyodor in. your eyes are closed, so you can't make out what the man infront of you looks like, but you take a quick peak at him before closing your eyes again. "it's alright," he smirked. "don't worry about it." his accent was thick and heavy. you were now more curious about him. you were definitely going to try and lure him into your cult.

"my name's [name]. i am truly sorry for bumping into you.." your eyes are closed and fyodor can now understand why you bumped into him. you were probably blind, so he felt a little sympathetic towards your case, which was a surprise from him. "it's okay, don't worry about it truly. i'm fyodor." he smiled, even though you wouldn't be able to see.

you bowed at him again, still muttering a string of apologies before he takes your shoulder in his hand. "please stop apologising, i've already forgiven you." the contact made you shiver, but in a good way. you looked up at him again. "okay, okay. sorry. would you like to come over to come over to my church? i was just on the way now before bumping into you. it'll be my way of showing gratitude and forgiveness." you smile, but there's a hint of evil about your smile that fyodor doesn't seem to catch on to.

"oh, well i don't see why not." fyodor smiled in response. "if you're insisting, i'll come along. i guess it is really the only way you could repay me." the black haired man continued smiling. fyodor was geniunely curious about your church. what god did you worship? etc, etc. those questions were running through his mind. he also liked how sweet you were, it was like he could take advantage of you if he'd like to later. but he was wrong, of course. you didn't show him how you truly were. a cruel, evil cult leader. you simply acted all sweet to lure more people into your trap.

the two of you then arrived at the church. it was lively as people were waiting for the next session to take place and they were waiting for [name] to lead it. you had a smirk on your face as you faced fyodor again. "you just sit where you like and have a little listen to my ceremony, okay?" you smile sweetly at him, but your intentions are far from sweet.

the atmosphere of the church was also quite sinister.. but fyodor couldn't tell what was off about the whole place just yet. he decided to go along with whatever you had planned. he sat down in a seat near the back and waited for you to start.

you walk to the altar and get your things ready to prepare your next speech for your followers. you enjoy the feeling that you have a new guest today - fyodor. maybe you'd convince him to join your 'true' religion in the end and get him to praise your 'true' god.

"greetings, guests!" you call out, finally opening your eyes to scan the eyes of the audience. fyodor was a little startled at first. he didn't think you could see.. but maybe that was just a slight misjudgment on his behalf, so he tried to brush it off and not seem ignorant.

everyone was already shouting praises at you, even though you had only said two words. everyone sitting in the rows at the church were all familiar faces that you knew. you took your time usually to greet each individual once you entered the church, but today was different. you were running late due to fyodor, so you'd leave all the friendliness with your followers to later.

"i assume everyone knows why we're gathered here today?" you ask and people in the crowd yell back a string of 'yes'es or just screams. "oh but of course, there is someone new here today!" an evil grin grows on your face as you turn to look at fyodor. "I hope everyone will be nice to our hopefully new follower!" your grin then turns into a sweet smile, hints of evil still around it. your voice was sickeningly sweet as well, starting to creep fyodor of all people out a little bit too.

"today we are gathered yet again to praise the true god!" you yell out, your voice starting to grow more and more menacing as you praised this false god. "not the ones those so called real worshipers follow.. our god!" everyone started cheering your name, they seemed to be just as brainwashed, or even worse than you.

fyodor was starting to get a little creeped out. he wanted to leave, and fast. he didn't intend on meeting a cult leader in the first place. he just thought he had bumped into a sweet, innocent and blind man. but oh how he was so wrong.

your words started to linger in fyodor's mind. everything you said about this god stuck out to him. some of his curiosity was peaked, maybe it was because of you - not the person you decided to worship. something about you seemed so interesting, fyodor forgot his intentions on leaving now. he wanted to stay and listen to your voice forever.

maybe it was your voice, the way you spoke about this idol you worshipped. or maybe it was how captivating you were, the way you faked your sweet charm just to lure him in. whatever it was, fyodor was definitely interested. he was definitely going to be coming back for more talks.. mostly because he wanted to be by your side though.

once the 'prayer' meeting was over and you had said goodbye to each of your guests, you decide to go back to fyodor and have a chat with him. he had a surprised look on his face the entire time you spoke and you were certainly amused by that. "well hello, fyodor." you spoke, a smirk on your face. it the exact one you had playing on your face when fyodor first came into the church. "i see you enjoyed your time here, yes?" you asked, leaning close to him. he immediately nodded, captivated by your alluring voice.

"yes, i did enjoy it. for more reasons than you may think, however." fyodor laughed lightly, looking at you. "it is safe to say, i will be returning.. only if i am not busy with my own plans you see." he smiled at you, slightly returning the smirk you had on your lips. "of course, of course! you are welcome to join us anytime. i will be delighted." you chuckled back, pleased to hear that the ravenette will be returning.

fyodor had practically forgotten who you were - a cult leader that just spewed obscenities to his followers. he had completely zoned out.. but he wasn't that innocent of a man either, so he couldn't blame you. fyodor was truly fascinated about your act, maybe he could learn a thing or two from the wolf in sheep's clothing...

despite having some minor religious trauma, we're collectively christian and have a lot of religious imagery headmates, both angels and demons, some in-between etc, sometimes we go to church. but we feel like the black sheep because stereotypical christians feel so judgemental and stuff but we're trying to be good about it because some of our friends and people we know are very kind and patient [we admitted we dated same sex a few years ago and they weren't "YOURE GOING TO HELL" etc but it was still a little awkward].

but. but. that's not the current issue. oh no. nonono. we just saw a short video how a man said he was he/they and multiple people because "we are legion." which is. demon bible stuff. legion is a demon of 6,000 or something i don't know the details. and then afterwards opening tumblr. what do we get greeted with? yes. a fuckinf post saying "Demons refer to themselves as they/them/we/us."

fuck! fuck!!!! we don't have a great relationship with christianity but now parts of our system are like "please don't let me be possessed" and others are "we're christian we can't be??" and others "we have angelic alters how would we be demonic?"

Okay, so, as someone that does have Christian parts even past religious trauma, you’re not possessed and you’re not faking.

It’s okay to have both angelic, demonic, and in-between alters. It’s not something anyone can harm you over, it’s perfectly okay.

You can still be Christian and be a good person. It’s not unheard of, just rare in some parts of the world or specific countries. It doesn’t mean you’re automatically bad or a black sheep. You’re not the wolf amongst the crowd. We view it as the Christians that are there for everyone are shepherds tending to their flock and protecting a family they enjoy and care for, they’re the ones that someone can go to and have support they need even without religious contexts.

The whole “we are Legion” thing strikes me as fearmongering, as well as “demons use they/them.” And it honestly depends on what you’re talking about. For us, typical “demons” are just trickster spirits or the ones that just want to do things out of boredom. Genuine “demons” are people that do genuinely horrible things.

This is an extremely hot take, especially from me, but just because a religious thing has something that can be cultish around it doesn’t make it a cult. Yes, there can be a cult disguised as that religious thing and can/will cause religious trauma, but that doesn’t make the entire religion bad (which is what we’ve learned to better heal to support friends/family that are Christian rather than just cutting them out entirely). Not every Christian person is going to be related to the disguised issues underneath. It can be hard to see that or understand and a lot of people might find it hard, but it’s also okay to just not interact with the religion but don’t bash it. Also just because people relate the religion to a cult doesn’t mean you were in one, it’s okay to be afraid of it, but don’t harm yourself by thinking that way.

The only thing I can really say is trying to take a break from social media for a little until everything is settled, this is optional. Write down all the reasons you know you aren’t fake. You’re not faking. You’re not possessed, write some positive things down about you and your alters.

It’s perfectly okay to be Christian and have DID/OSDD. A religion doesn’t define you. You’re good enough and you’ll have a place here as well as in DMs. You’re loved.

I’m a little slow on guessing people on anon, but you’ll always stay anon no matter what (even if you DM me). I don’t entirely like assuming who someone is either :)

yeah my dad tried to raise me as a scientologist so i grew up in it. my favorite fun fact is that i was there for the atlanta church opening. the one before the fucking MANSION/bunker they have now was a repurposed office building. theyll only show u a few rooms on google images but theres a whole basement below the building thats about the same size/bigger than the above ground part. also there was a legit child working there when i was still in it. he was 11 and not in school 😭. those ppl are fucking crazy. and the whole things white and marble and shiny inside w tom cruise everywhere its fucking bizarre. but anyway. yes. my dad was excommunicated for being too radical (YES. Oh boi and talking abt Arikado; the common idea of a grown up n stable Alucard finding stability after "ending" the cycle is fine and all, but the implication from his AoS n DoS behaviour that he is in a terrible mental state and unable to let go of the cycle? And then she had to see how Mathias betrayed her n Leon and then tried to take him, and dealt w the mess that post-canon Leon was, both together but separated, furious and crushed on the other's behalf, until his death :). AND then she had to wait hundreds of years to avenge him only to have to kill the same bastard over and over and over again. Mix in vampire corruption and you have a caring but toxic Belmont Matriarch/Whip stuck in the cycle. So yea let her have negative emotions and commit crimes (Sorry John).

Bring Me The Horizon - Kool-Aid Review

Let's get something out of the way.

Yes, I'm aware Jordan is gone, and yes, I know he worked on this songs early stages and yet does not appear on the credits on Kool Aid.

But am I going to talk about “Post Jordan BMTH” throughout this review? FUCK NO.

I have questions, thoughts, and concerns, that I will NOT let take over the discourse of this song, I'll make a retrospective and rant article on it later (but hopefully not too much later). It's not that deep people (and if it turns out it is then I'll actually be worried)

So! Kool-Aid! Which as a brand can't be done with mixed caps like eVeRYthInG ElsE. But we got badass zombie Kool Aid man, so you win some and lose some.

Now we need to get something else out of the way immediately. It's heavy. Like potentially the heaviest shit they've done since Sempiternal or There is a Hell. We need to talk about it because that is also tainting the discourse around the song because the “Amo Bad, Sempiternal & Count Your Blessings Good” camp gets riled up when Bring Me gets heavy nowadays. We gotta combat that shit people. It's heavy, and I wanna say immediately that's not, in any way, a direct reason for why Im about to say that…

This is, HANDS DOWN, tying with Ludens for the best fuckin Post Human single, and is one of their absolute best showings upon first listen ever. And it has almost jack shit to do with it's heavy elements genre or BMTH era comparisons.

My fucking GOD, it's the first new, released in 2024 song I've heard and it probably could remain as my favorite song of 2024 through to the end of the year and beyond that. I do have one concern I'll mention here and expand on in that aforementioned later article I'm writing, but we'll get to that later.

Firstly, I'd like to say that my personal description of the theme of Nex Gen sonically, much like Survival Horror was “Sempiternal but Evolved” is very much “That's the Spirit (especially including Don't Look Down) but Evolved”. Kool-Aid takes that concept and not only runs with it, but also decides to throw the entire BMTH playbook in like they're adding pinches of other Kool-Aid (BMTH album era) flavors in to augment the red Kool Aids classic (That's the Spirit) flavor. Anybody who compares this mainly to anything other than That's The Spirit or maybe Survival Horror is wrong or lying, I'm not taking that back, I don't make the rules I follow them.

The star of this song is honestly that it was able to take the loose thread of the Church of Genxsis cult plot and the whole “Dark Side of Kool -Aid” that's kind of became a thing and wove it into every part of the lyrical content of this song without any of it coming off as cringy or juvenile. The song sound like both corruption and salvation, desperation & hopelessness, manipulation & rebellion. The entire chorus, the verses, every single line of this song is PERFECT. And yes I'm including ‘you should of known” in there. I think that grammatical error interpreted as a Sheffield-ism like examples of the same thing in earlier albums lyrics makes it better than the correct “should’ve” (or should have), it's a creative choice not an error, and you'll probably grow to like it too in time.

That’s what makes the song so powerful in general, but the focal point of the song is obviously the hook and overall chorus. My favorite choruses of Post Human, and BMTH overall, were dethroned the second I finished hearing that chorus in full. That chorus goes so fucking hard, Oli giving what may be simply his best clean singing to date, with a dark and desperate melody that hits the exact emotional beats it's going for. Then let's talk about the verses, which are more surprising in their switchups and flicker between styles even more effortlessly than Kingslayer did, I'd say it does so on par with 1x1 in fact.

Now of course it's heavy second verse, breakdown, and post-chorus near the end are breathtaking, but it's because of their unique and aesthetically interesting and well textured guitar work and the tones the guitar lines are played with, the surprise of hearing them, and just the overall groove and improvement in their quality that didn't exist in their idolized older material. It's that they work equally well with all four vocal tones Oli employs on this track, and work cohesively with the melodic elements to create the intended effect of the song.

Some have questioned whether Oli’s vocals were mixed down on the track, I disagree, and would put forth the theory that in fact the guitars were mixed up, to the levels they would have been at circa Sempiternal/That's The Spirit, so both guitars and vocals exist equally as much instead of vocals at the forefront

As for production: I really like Zakk Cervini’s production in general, he’s credited on multiple of my favorite rock and core genres across the past decade. Given his work with BMTH to date I figure hes probably a best case scenario for production that isn't Jordan, alongside Dan Lancaster. Aside from that personnel wise theres a few things to look at. Firstly theres a writing credit to someone listed as DAIDAI. I looked up their name on genius and came out with a handful of songs they have been credited on (could be relatively new to the industry, however its also worth noting they are credited on AmEN! and DArkSide), I will listen to is credited songs real quick then come back….

So turns out DAIDAI is a member of Japanese metalcore band Paledusk. And as for his credits its the aforementioned last three Nex Gen singles, four Paledusk songs, a Lil Uzi Vert song, and a Shinigami song. I listened through them in the hopes of figuring out exactly what DAIDAI contributed, and… honestly I’m not sure. He at absolute least occasionally has produced the bands songs, and is their guitarist. Listening to the aforementioned tracks I figure he could be responsible for just about any of it. However my money would be that his influence is somewhere in the breakdown or verses, but then again Paledusk has some pretty kickass chorus melodies and hooks, so I genuinely can't say I know where his influence is in the recent BMTH singles.

Lucy Landry is Zakk Cervini’s partner, I found 3 credits on genius, turns out she's done backing vocals on the last 3 Waterparks albums, a couple tracks on Good Charlotte's album Generation Rx, and a Fever 333 song.

Phil Gornell was assistant engineer, his credited discography includes All Time Low, Noah Finnce, Hot Milk, While She Sleeps, a punk goes pop cover by Boston Manor, the Youngblood era live album 5 Seconds of Summer Released, and from BMTH, hes credited as drum engineer on Sempiternal, and assistant engineer on both versions of Ludens.

Julian Gargiulo was credited alongside Cervini as a mixing engineer, hes credited as Assistant Mixing Engineer and Primary Mixing Engineer on Architects most recent single Seeing Red, and DArkSide respectively. His two other two credits of note are as Producer and engineer across 5 different EP’s by a band called Chronologist, and contribution of some Guitar work and Engineering on the As It Is record The Great Depression.

As for what all of this means? Ive heard most of the material that Ive listed alongside those names, and it looks like they've been building this production team up throughout the Post Human era, and I would say its a considerably strong one after hearing Kool-Aid.

Lets give my last thoughts to the outro and another thing people have said was an "omission", I agree with everyone elses assessments on it, its part behind the scenes voice note, part outro & part transition into ToP 10 STatUeS THAT CRiED BLooD. I like that its there and hope it does remain there on the album. As for the apparent "omission" of "Oh Yeah?" I think that the songs more serious, lass meme take on using the Kool-Aid references is actually a GREAT thing, and secondly I think I'd only have wanted it were this a faster paced, Let's Get This Party Started style song.

Oh yeah, the thing I'm concerned about that's going to be the third BMTH article I have planned for this month.

Its heaviness is my concern, let me explain.

My concern is this, on one hand you could assume this just means they are trying to make the individual parts of Post Human more cohesive than initially planned. But has anybody else heard the alleged information leaks coming from someone claiming to have an inside source says its 15 tracks long, and all the material that we haven't heard yet was created in the liminal space between Jordan leaving the tour and the official band departure announcement? Combine that with the fact that the heavier songs were originally supposed to be meant for later eps, and that leads to this conundrum: Its an album, it looks like RCA is planning on registering it as such rather than as an EP after all (likely for charting and awards purposes that I personally believe are why Survival Horror was snubbed by the Grammy’s/Recording Academy), its an album that due to its physical release having to be 6 months delayed after its official release in the early summer, won't be followed up by another release until 2025 in all likelihood. Ludens was released in 2019, Post Human could technically be said to celebrate its 5th anniversary as an era by the approximate time of the Nex Gen physical copy release date. Its an album thats now 4 years post its predecessor, in a series of four thats complete release finish line seems to jump farther down the road every time progress is made. I’m worried they are planning to kill off Post Human after Nex Gen drops to skip over it and start just releasing singles like they had planned to at the whole “4 EP’s, 1 year” stage of this era. And I have a whole fucking article in the works about why I think that hopefully wont happen.

and it has to do with religious trauma,Im not going into detail but basically Atsushi has some severe,like some severe religious trauma,not only was he physically abused, The Orphanage's religion was used as a vice of punishment not only for atsushi but all the Orphanage kids,his was just the most severe(like cult typa shit,maybe ot was actually a cult)

Now for the O!bsd x B!bsd au

,l like to imagine for my ver of the au That theres technically 2 headmasters of the orphanage, The original headmaster and his son, when atsushi was a child he was a teenager Atsushi kills the original headmaster and its the son that gets into a car accident later in the bsd series, or you could switch it to atsushi killing the son and after he dies the father repents bcs he knows it was technically his fault.

[This is when shots starts to go downhill and starts to mention timelines]

Atsushi's orphanage bg is exactly like beast au,up to when mori finds him {i think mori might have gone to retrieve him} (this is as someone who nevee read beast tho,so im not sure if shes there but) atsushi escapes the orphanage instead of being kicked out,he roams the streets for awhile mostly sticking to alleys and he eventually finds himself close to ig one of the many bases that the PM has (idk ive never read or watched bsd or beast bsd) and elise is out running an errand(or something IDK WHAT SHE DOES SMH), we all know ellise knows shit she shouldnt,and she recognizes atsushi (idfk maybe she doesnt recognise him,she just finds his hair pretty.) but she takes him to mori and mori takes care of him for some time bcs why not (idk why i made this but,im now realising it makes no sense...) but mori gives him the decision of the port mafia or the ada (this is after a large timeskip btw,atsushi works in rhe shadows and noone,not even dazai knows he works for the pm,everything is essentially like cannon) and he decides he wants to take a break from the mafia for abit {this sounds like a wattpad fanfic,kill me now

and goes to work for the ada,just not in the usual sense, since noone knows who he is and he still works for mori (Queue Cannon) Atsushi basically is a hella good actor. [fuck this idea,all my homies hate this idea. Atsushi is an actor yes but he actually quits the pm instead and goes i to his found family arc.] he decides to join back the pm after the ada goes down Idk but the (current?) arc with dazai and fyodor passes and the pm somehow ends up unscathed but relocated and dazai goes missing [Last i heard he disappeared down an elevator shaft or sumn]

The Birth of the Church of Hope 0

Noelia was trekking home with one of her new followers, Nonojul . Since she was way too tired to teleport them back to the Cult, they had to trek the way they came from. It was a long way back through the defeat that she left behind. Red hat wasn’t at all too pleased with this unlike Nonojul. Nonojul was quite talkative during their trek. A bright bubbly personality, something that Noelia was wishing she still had, was making this trip a lot more bearable. Unlike the red hat.

“Oh god, will you shut up? Be quiet like a good little follower?!?”

“Red Crown, be nice will ya?”

“He goes on and on about nothing! Can be really be a good follower?”

“How about you shut your mouth before I SHUT IT FOR YOU!?!?”

Noelia shouted. She was already looking pretty tired. She is, in fact, mortal. With moral little baba feelings. Nonojul was quiet as she spoke to her hat. Then she turns her gaze to him.

“Please, continue talking about the clouds, ignore him. So what’s these clouds? Culu-“

“Cumulonimbus!”

“Ah”

She said. And speaking of clouds, the rumblings that she thought were her stomache were coming from the sky at that time. It made her uneasy. They still have a bit to go, and Noelia didn’t like lightning or getting caught in that.

“Oh you heard about that storm coming? It’s a huge storm that will take out a lot of bridges”

Nonojul said. They had to quicken the pace.  With him following behind, it was going to be risky. The risk was doubled when the happen upon a group of people who were sat by themselves. They didn’t even notice them passing.

“Wait please!”

“We’re friendly! Please don’t hurt us, we have kids!”

Noelia and Nonojul came down to see what was the fuss. What was going on. There were at least 3 adults, two accompanying children. The oldest looked middle aged, and the youngest was an infant.

“Please, we are refugees from a Cult. The leader went insane and started killing children for their sacrifice!”

The male bunny said

“To protect our children, we had to leave, he was a menace. A big storm is coming, we have nowhere to go. Please help us!”

The female cuthulu said. Nonojul looked at her.

“Didnt you say you had a small cult?”

He said. Noelia looked at him, but was interrupted by her hat.

“Nonsense! We need strong members for our cult. These are the rejects! Let’s move on lamb”

Nonojul rejected that.

“You can’t just leave them out here, they have kids and such, they are vulnerable to this world!”

“Hush you! We are taking YOU on a whim”

Nonojul grabs her shoulders

“Oh great leader, what do YOU want? After all this is your cult.”

Nonojul had his hand removed by her

“Two things, 1, please don’t put your hand on my body without permission.”

“I-im sorry”

It seemed like her mind was made up.

“And 2, carry the babies, we’re all going to the…the…”

She just realized that her cult didn’t even have a name, she quickly thought of one though…

“THE CHURCH OF HOPE! Yes, now let’s hurry back before the storm comes. If you fall behind, we will not come back for you”

“Yes! Thank you!”

“Let’s hurry”

Everyone picked up their things, the group thanked them for taking them in. Despite Noelia ignoring the red crowns instructions, she became more bold with her demands. She knew that she needed to make more changes before she could fully get ahold of her cult- well, I guess her Church now...

The storm came just as she finished building the medical station and the last house. The male of the group and the other woman came to her and kneeled

“Thank you oh gracious leader! Thank you for protecting my family, we are forever in your debt”

“Many thanks”

Red crown looked on.

‘Definitely from a cult, they have etiquette. I guess she made a good choice.’

“Your fine for now. Do you work? Do you have an occupation?”

She asked. She pulled up a stool.

“Because if you do, you have some staying power, as the cul-Church is very young”

“I am a local doctor from the cult”

“And I am a seamstress…maybe not as useful to you”

Noelia thought about that

“I have use of the doctor…but the seamstress…there has to be something bc or you to do…”

Red hat speaks up

“Doesn’t your “Church” need uniforms? Outfits? For daily life?”

Noelia blinked.

“You know what? We do! Do you know how to make cloth into fabric?”

“I do, but it takes a while”

“If your willing to teach, the doctor as well, you both can stay”

Noelia gets up

“There are a few rules to our cult, but I will inform you when the storm has passed. There, you will have your first meal with your new members of this church. Please don’t give me any trouble. Good night”

They both bowed.  Then red crown stopped

“What about the other one? You haven’t assigned her anything?”

“…wait, you didn’t see? Why do you think I gave them a bigger house? She’s with child!”

“Oh! Well then!”

“Yes, we will assign her when she is ready. She has her hands full with a newborn already.”

She said as they walked away from the house. She returns to the temple, where she lives and she puts the red hat down.

“Okay, I know I stepped on your toes for a bit. I’m sorry. But Nonojul made a very good point. I am the leader of this cult. This church is mine…however, we pray to the one who waits. They are not subservient to him, they are to me. In order to convince them to pray to him, we have to work together. Okay?”

Red crown sighed.

“Your not the first person to wear me and say that. You ARE the first person to go against what I said. However, I will work with you under one condition”

“Make it reasonable”

“You and I need to spend time alone. I’m always on someone’s head. It gets stuffy up there. I am a tool for self destruction! A weapon of mass genocide…yet I want to rest as well…you understand?”

“Okay, Red ha-“

“And stop calling me that!”

“What do you want to be called”

“I don’t know! Just not red hat!”

“Give me a bit, I’ll give you a name…how about…Bonbon! I’m just kidding, give me a bit?”

She said as she placed him on the little desk in the back. After the storm settled for the night in its strength, Noelia came back with a big smile on her face.

“I have a name for you”

“Oh, cool.”

“What do you think of…Hades? Like the god of death in that old gods book? You don’t like it”

Red hat looked at her. An actual good name. A thoughtful name.

“I…it’s a nice name”

He couldn’t hide his excitement. Noelia could see through him.

“Alright! Well, get some sleep Hades!”

She said as she closes the door to her room. Hades looked out the window.

hi im so sorry to dump this in your inbox i got super carried away w the utah hate but i am a former utah citizen and you are SO right utah is easily the worst state in the entire country bar none. the primary exports of utah have been a) missionaries like u said and b) the new weird trend of all these tech companies opening up in slc like the entire city isn't a festering poisonous cesspool. literally poisonous, the area surrounding slc is primarily factories quarries etc. just the UGLIEST industrialized shit you've ever seen, miles and miles and miles of it, and the way the topography of the land works the mountains and the lake make a bowl out of the city so all of that pollution just sits, festering, until a good storm rolls in, and it SUCKS. straight up think utah was ranked in the top 5 most polluted states in the country if not #1 on that list and for good reason. not to mention the cult church controls literally everything - they own the ROADS for christ sake - and is so deeply entrenched in the entire culture that being non-mormon (or god forbid exmo or smth) means you literally start getting actively discriminated against, like within the legal definition of the word. denied jobs housing etc, and ofc they're literally no legal protections for actual minorities of any kind outside of what's federally mandated (and even then those won't be enforced.) even if you're christian in some capacity!! it's significantly worse if people find out you're Not christian ofc but just being Not Mormon is enough to have everyone do their damnedest to try and make u suffer. don't get me wrong there's some really great communities and subcultures out there, i've always chalked it up to minorities having to stick together more than ever just to survive in the oppressive climate, like the lgbt+, latino, asian, polynesian, etc etc communities are Amazing out there, but they're so constrained, the second you step out of your community it's literally hell. like u mentioned utah having no good mexican food?? 100% correct unless u can hunt down really good small ma n pop shop restaurants and it's because straight up there's almost no fucking mexicans or latinos period. hand to god knew TWO mexican american ppl (not including their families) the entire decade i lived there, and i am not white i wasn't some insulated rich white kid only associating w other rich white kids or smth the population out there is just So Overwhelmingly White, period. it sucks so much. utah's biggest redeeming quality is like the geography and environment and they keep destroying it w industrialization. texas meanwhile has great food, great culture, impeccable geography and environment, i have a lot of relatives living in texas who i love dearly and who are sincerely great people who love the state; like obvs it had its rougher patches and places that are awful to be if you're a certain type of person, and ik the current state government sucks mega ass, but by GOD it's no utah. ohh my god. if any of these mfers actually lived in utah for any real amount of time they would understand how much it SUCKS. anyways that's all im so sorry you don't even have to publish this if it's too much i just got carried away reading your tags/responses on that poll and got so fired up abt how much i hate utah. thank god i don't live there anymore good fucking riddance

the mandela cult au is a mandela catalogue alternative universe where the alternates are human. thats the prime point.

instead of overthrowing heaven and commanding alternates in the tmc universe, in my human au, Gabriel Bernard takes over the main church of the mandela county by killing off the priest (god in the tmc universe) and his son (the real archangel gabriel in the tmc universe), ultimately replacing them and becoming the new father without anyone suspecting a thing in the late 1970s. he began indoctrinating his own version of the bible nd christianity, teaching it to the church goers and corrupting them. this knowledge becomes horrid and dark, ultimately making the church into a cult and any person within it distorted. their faces and voices became warped from the knowledge draining their humanity, making them appear to have uncanny valley features. gabriel's teachings began to spread to every church within the surrounding counties, ultimately creating a larger cult hellbent on ruling. the people who reside with the church go out and attempt to spread the 'gospel' to any unlucky victim, going to homes like mormons and attempting to manipulate residents into joining the cult as well.

as for children, human!6 (who im still workin on nd developing for the au) kidnaps them from unsuspecting parents (or just kidnaps kids from parents who were killed by the cult by disobeying the knowledge. also kidnaps orphans) and forces them to reside in churches, the gospel and teachings brainwashing them super young and making them grow up to be even more distorted and uncanny. little humanity is left in these kids and people.

the main protagonist, Tyler Oakland, is the human version of T, my alternate oc in the tmc series. he was an orphan who's only option was to find home within the mandela county church when he was a toddler. from there, the cult ultimately abused him, distorting him in many obscure and dangerous ways. he retaliated constantly, not wanting to follow the church or join the cult. he hated what they did and the gospel never manipulated him into being brainwashed. he was beaten, bruised, burned, ridiculed, etc into submitting but he never did so. he ran away in his mid 20s when gabriel was going to punish him by crucifying him, wanting him to be a religious symbol and meaning to the cult. tyler wasnt having it, and he chose to escape. he had to build his life up from scratch, spending decades on plotting his revenge and wanting to stop the cult all together.

now in his early 40s, lives on the outskirts of the infected counties, becoming a refugee spot for any ex-cult member seeking help. he runs an autoshop, having success in mechanics and fixing up cars for people. he resides there too, his home branching off from the shop itself. every night, he goes out and kills as many cult members as possible to dwindle the rising population of the church and to save people from them. he becomes the notorious 'Church Murderer', where lieutenant Thatcher Davis takes on the case to try and find out what is going on with the religion, cult, and killer. he has no luck however, but runs into tyler several times. davis has no idea tyler is the killer and tyler has no idea Davis is looking for said killer, aka him.

one night, a man named Josiah Wood, who is the human version of an alternate oc named Watchman, created by @finalfridayss finally left the cult. he still has heavy mixed feelings about his old occupation, having killed innocent people before and seeing gabriel as a father figure. the stolen vehicle he had broke down a block from the shop and he was lucky to have found tyler, who was open and working late. they talked and tyler agreed to help him despite josiah having nothing to his name. whilst working on the car, they talked about the cult and how josiah had just left. tyler explains he helps people who seek refuge and can offer any aid and assistance to josiah to help him get on his feet and josiah agrees.

as time goes on and josiah stays with tyler, he works in the shop with him. they become good acquaintances to close friends and then they become boyfriends, where they both permanently reside together now. they love each other very much.

tension rises in the cult as gabriel is hellbent on finding the murderer and stopping anyone from leaving the church. it gets worse when he starts to crack and break, making few cult members second guess what they were doing or if he is even a responsible leader anymore.

thats it so far. im still workin on developing characters (im developing preacher and 6 rn!) and building the angsty climax between tyler/josiah and gabriel and what the aftermath of everything would be. i still change details as time goes on and more info/lore of the tmc series comes out too. this is kinda a slowburn au where the spotlight is on tyler and josiah, their relationship to each other and the cult, etc.

of course we have the main victims in it as well, along with the bythorn anti-cult society (basically BPS), but they got their own lives nd stuff goin on. i already wrote about em as well if anyone wants to read it in the tag

HIII okay im still just working on the entire church of ocellus and their respective priests but rook as a character is pretty fleshed out so HERE WE GO!!

Rook’s pretty intimidating by appearance alone, he’s got a larger and muscular build and he’s tall and overall pretty menacing. And on one hand, yes he is absolutely malevolent, but on the other he is so. so silly.

He’s one of the priests in the cult, but aside from that he’s also a big fan of hunting and archery (though he rarely ever hurts any animals. His game is mainly more humanoid). He’s got pretty keen senses and is not a force to be messed with.

Most of the time, he has a very lighthearted and laid back personality, even in more serious situations. It’s really hard to piss him off, honestly. If anything, he just gets uncomfortable. That being said, he typically resorts to violence quickly when he is upset. It’s best to avoid him until he calms down, which is fairly quickly. He’s also pretty close with Pawn, another priest, and they hang out pretty often. They sort of have a sibling bond. It’s sweet.

Rook’s also generally really good with nature and scavenging. He’s made a hobby out of collecting bones, with his favorite being human spines. He has a lot. His entire room is decorated with them, actually! Most of the other priests avoid it because they have no fucking clue where he got them and would prefer not to ask!

So as is known, the castle the cult is based in is sort of a connected space between the fabric of reality and the only place where you can enter from one timeline to the next. This results in the very rare outsider coming through one of the mirrors. Rook is normally pretty nice to these people, or at the very most *slightly* threatening. Unless you have good posture, in which case fucking run.

He’s very loyal to Ocellus and gets along with them really well!! While some priests are a bit afraid of the god they worship, he’s not at all. He likes hanging out with them! They’re fun to be around. Plus, his life is significantly better than it was before they took over. He also serves as a sort of public figure for the cult, being one of the only priests besides Pawn being permitted and allowed to interact with their followers to collect the sacrifices and instill faith into their followers.

god i hate that i get reminded that i was never encouraged to pursue anything. forcing your child to do a certain thing is a damn mistake, yes, but so is not directing them or opening their eyes to horizons. like all they ever encouraged was "spiritual growth" aka participating in cult-like activities for the sake of serving the church or the damn religion they basicially forced on me. solidifying a newborn's religion on government papers feels like a damn crime istg.

like, if only my curiosity was supported, i couldve studied harder to work towards those dreams. i couldve be in a field that gives me opportunities to move to the country i've always liked unconditionally rn. im nowhere close to anything.

i grew up aimless. my youth in my memories was just grey forever rain, hints of sepia, and blindingly-bright neon colours sprinkled in here and there.

im still aimless. idk what to do except study for the civil service exam and get a govt job in the following year. is that what i want? no.

i once thought that by pursuing law, hopefully passing the bar, and working in the field successively would finally fund my creativity and my inherent desire to leave my home country.

im glad i hesitated. this plan is too idealistic and there's so much i have turned a blind eye to.

Premise (spoilers for the first episode and the existence of a major character).

in the pseudo-Bronze Age, two races of people (the sarams and the neanthals) live in an uneasy co-existence. the sarams want an alliance for the neanthal’s lands so that they can farm and mine, the neanthals are like lol we don’t need any of that because we actually have survivalist skills so keep your agriculture you nerds b y e.

the leader of the saram is Not Having That, and sends an envoy (asa hon) to allegedly act as a diplomat. what she actually does is unknowingly carries a plague that wipes out a huge chunk of the neanthals. because that is not enough, the leader sends his son (tagon) to wrap up the rest of this genocide.

asa hon is betrayed and upset and doesn’t return to the sarams. instead, she shacks up with a surviving neanthal named ragaz and they have spoilers twin boys spoilers, hybrids known as igutu. based on Prophecy, any children born under the blue flame comet are Destined to bring calamity. so, doom babies. they are two doom babies.

after killing ragaz, tagon snatches one of the babies For Reasons, and asa hon flees with the other

flashforward about a decade.

the neanthals are extinct OR ARE THEY we get a pretty Quick understanding of who tagon is as a human as he’s re-introduced drinking out of one of their skulls before being surrounded by his hypemen who chant his name Gaston style. he’s joined by taeahla, and they are a Match Made in Hell. it’s quickly revealed that taeahl is raising the other twin baby, who is kept hidden because he’s igutu. and, like, tagon’s famous because he killed all of the neanthal, so having one of their hybrid babies is ngl

asa hon makes it to a land beyond the saram’s influence, where she and eunseom come across a tribe called wahan. they’re lead by a ten-year-old tanya, who had a dream that eunseom would arrive. which is a big deal, because sarams can’t dream. it turns out tanya was also born on Blue Comet Doom Prophecy Day. asa hon dies from the injuries she obtained saving her son, and eunseom is raised by the wahan tribe. it’s a very idyllic existence for them.

until tagon and his men invade in a manifest-destiny-realness bid to capture slaves and conquer land and ruin wahan’s coachella festival before enslaving all of them and bringing what survives of the tribe to arthdal.

the plot then centers around eunseom trying to rescue the wahan tribe, the wahan tribe trying to survive arthdal, and something about gods being reborn, political backstabbing, a church cult being absolute dicks, and a lot of interchangeable evil old men

it’s a fucking awesome show.

eunseom’s been a part of the wahan tribe since he was ten, but everyone (especially him) is aware he’s Different From The Rest of the Reindeer. the only one who treats him the same is tanya, and it’s clear these two are joined at the hip. he has dreams of being locked away in a tower, has a bunch of ~strange~ ideas like trying to ride horses, and is totes crushing on the soon-to-be village wise woman. once the wahan village is attacked, he makes it his mission to save the tribe and his One True Love tanya

this bitch but also that bitch. almost single-handedly responsible for the genocide of the neanthals, tagon’s grown into the leader of an army that is the definition of ride-or-die for him. he has a 100% approval rating in arthdal due to defeating the neanthal, defeating the ago tribe, and defeating the will to live for the thousands of slaves he supplies for arthdal’s terrible economic system. he starts the series off with Pure Intentions, in that he wants to rule but he wants to do it by The Love of The People. because that works out well for people who habitually wear black cloaks

poster child #1 for arthdal’s fantastic hair products for men, will smirk you to death, you feel sorry for him a lot and you’re like why?? but then yeaaah, can only stare in heart eyes at his partner in subterfuge...

taeahla

MY WIFE said partner in subterfuge. i cannot spell her fucking name ever. her and tagon have been Not Together for over ten years. she’s the heiress to the hae tribe, who are known for their inventions and are the only tribe that knows how to smith bronze into weapons. therefore she’s hot shit. and also just hot. she seems like the character You’re Not Going to Like but she became one of my favorites after the first episode.

she wants to help tagon in his ambitions, but she also v much wants to see his ambitions help herself. her and tagon made an Oath to never sacrifice their survival for the other and that’s the most metal thing i’ve ever heard. she wears couture. would get a pre-nup. can and will fuck you up. and she also raises the Hidden Igutu Twin Doom Baby...SPOILERS

so at this point you’re probably thinking a few things: this show needs more beautiful hair and pro fashion sense, a complete shit stirrer, and a morally ambiguous pretty boy.

well well well

saya is eunseom’s twin brother, although neither of them know about the other’s existence. because of their neanthal blood, they can see snapshots of each other’s lives in their dreams. as his existence would lead to death, and would DEFINITELY garner tagon some bad PR, saya’s been locked away in his princess tower for the majority of his life. he views tagon and taeahla as his father and mother, and that’s not necessarily a good thing.

daddy’s boy. wants to kill birds for fun. has the hots for the girl who can teach him how to kill birds for fun. surprisingly religious???

“Bring me to your leader,” the man jokingly exclaimed. He had substantially high doubts about this young woman’s true identity; he figured it was someone within a cult based on her ‘satanic’ behaviors; she only seemed to have these behaviors due to the way she was admiring parts of him, her stance, everything about her screamed weird.

Lydia chuckled. She found it astonishing that someone of the same age could not recognize her, even though there have been millions of news articles and segments on her astounding work as a ‘serial killer’ as some might say.

“You’re talking to ‘er.” She smiled.

His heart hammered in his chest. He did not know that she was his enemy. It was common knowledge to stay away from Lydia, she was this rumored assassin, but nobody ever truly lived to tell the tale.

“You’re a psychopath.” Bennett saw the glint in her eyes. She chuckled as soon as he mentioned that.

“Personally, I’d prefer creative. I have an offer to make you, Ben. If, and only if, you do exactly what I say.” He swallowed when he heard mention of Lydia’s offer, but he nodded.

She smiled. She knew exactly what she wanted him to do. She wanted Bennett to basically become her trainee of sorts; Lydia just wanted companionship, since she grew up without most of it as a young child.

“Bennett, I want you to consider being my sidekick, my partner in-”

He smiled. “Yes. I’ll do it.” Bennett always knew he was drawn to her; he never knew exactly why he was attracted to the preacher’s daughter, but he realized it now. Lydia... Lydia is his soul mate.

Bennett grabbed Lydia’s hand and walked her outside of the church. Lydia smiled for the first time in a long time. It felt nice, someone that cares. She always thought that everyone shunned her for a reason. Now she understood why. She was so outcasted that she flinched every time someone came close to her. It was all her fault. All her fault that her parents never loved each other. It was her fault that her father hated her with a burning passion.

They kept walking through the town strewn with Christmas lights and pine trees until they arrived at a quaint inn on the other side of town.

“I think we should go inside. To, y’know, go to sleep since it’s pretty late,” She yawned, getting Bennett out of his daze; she grabbed his wrist and opened the door of the quiet hotel.
