#long very boring and unnecessarily detailed tag monologue incoming‚ feel free to skip: #this is going to sound like a silly thing to be hitting rock bottom over #but i’m fairly certain i have a semi-rare skin condition known as sensitive skin syndrome #which is basically where skin gets progressively more sensitive #until it won’t tolerate the topical application of anything at all without getting irritated #usually it happens to people on the skin of their face and i have it there but i also specifically have it on my lips #(which apparently is extremely not normal; i found a dermatologist’s case study from like 2019 of one woman who had it on her lips #and according to this case study there were no other cases of people having it on their lips #in all the dermatological literature he had read) #i can’t follow the protocol which all the journal articles i’ve been able to find say is helpful for the rest of the face which is basicall #leave the area the heck alone for at least a year #because if i don’t apply anything to my lips for more than two or three days they will get so dry they crack and bleed #so it’s looking like one way or another i may be having to deal with dry burning irritated lips for the rest of my life #and i’m not dealing with the thought of that very well #i’ve already suffered so much anguish from extreme sensitivity on the rest of my face #and not being able to take proper care of the skin there #and this is just too much for me #i know God is allowing this for a reason but it’s filling me with so much frustration and panic and despair that i don’t know how to go on #but i must and i will #this isn’t a serious or a life-threatening condition but it’s looking like a pretty hopeless one and it’s hurting me badly #and i would appreciate prayers that it would just be healed or that i would know what to do #i think i will try going to my dermatologist but somehow i doubt she's even heard of sensitive skin syndrome #on a COMPLETELY unrelated note i'm just about to get my period and also for two days i've ''eaten'' nothing but vegetable smoothies #and those in pretty small amounts because they're disgusting #(do a detox my hormonal health doctor said) #(it'll be fun she said) #ok if you read this far you're so brave braver than any u.s. marine etc. #thanks for reading ily <3

first of all, elliot starts by saying 'kathy wrote it' and then clarifies that by saying they wrote it together and that he helped dictate it. so kathy and elliot wrote it. do you think elliot is gonna sit down with his wife of 40 years and write a love letter to another woman?

second of all. it wasn't kathy's decision. NONE of it was. they ASKED elliot to go back to ny and to make a speech at liv's ceremony. he brought kathy with him. so obviously they have to say SOMETHING to liv. even if was gonna be a speech or a letter or whatever. they were coming back as a unit so they wrote to her as a unit. like the audience, and probably everyone involved, knew that deep down elliot meant something else. but he still said those things in the letter and signed his name to them. if he wanted to write something else im sure he could have lmao. he isn't blameless.

THIRD of all i honestly thing elliot had no clue where to even start, given the way they left, and this was quite literally the only thing he could think of to do, and it made it easier for him to have kathy help him with what to say.

Look in general, not even limited to voltron: legendary disaster, i am a slut for Crack Treated Seriously and Hyperspecifc Job AUs. There's a fic floating around with Shiro as a SecUnit (murderbot diaries AU) which is ridiculous in the sense that in typical vld fashion it completely bulldozed over the queerness and Gender Deconstruction of the murderbot diaries and de-sexualised The Machine, but it still absolutely fucks because it's well-written and a total tear-jerker.

I'm also so so so supportive of Cosmic Horror (this needed to be explored in the show. tragically underused potential of everything and also the massive ancient sentient machines in your brain).

Trans men and transmascs are literally braver than any US marine and I want to thank you all, deeply, for changing my life. I'm genderfluid (within the butch/femme identities, which I know is super controversial but I'm learning to just be myself even if others are committed to misunderstanding me) and for a loooooong time I really struggled with bringing my butch side front and center. I also have PCOS and all the fun stuff that comes with, and was constantly told that the things about my body perceived as more masculine needed to be changed or hidden. It wasn't until I started following and interacting with more trans men and transmasc folks, intersex folks, etc. that I felt so much more comfortable openly being myself. Yall taught me that there is comfort and joy in masculinity and manhood. You taught me that it could be warm and wholesome and worth fighting for. You taught me that the world that terfs/radfems/separatists see is not how the world actually is, and you helped me be a better person, better ally, better friend, and much kinder and true to myself. I started rewatching House and have now rekindled that good ol hyperfixation, and I just wanted to stop by and thank you for providing Bottom House content. I am starving for it. It's weird because I'm not normally super picky about what characters are in what sexual positions/roles, but like. [Disclaimer: Everybody should have fun and read/write what makes them happy regardless of my own preferences, fandom is about having fun, I'm not out here trying to police how people enjoy shit blah blah blah]

...But on god I just cannot imagine watching this show and walking away with the interpretation that House is a confident dom top when it feels like every other episode shows him being such a bratty sub bottom. He's his usual brand of sarcastic about it all, but his sexual jokes and his general attraction to authoritative women... How he encourages his fellows to fight back against him and put him in his place if they think he's going off the rails or that they're right and he's wrong... The neediness... Come on! Man is such a bottom. And that's not even getting into Wilson's whole predisposition to just constantly soft dom House, or just how much more interesting I find it to explore House being a needy little sub while he also has to constantly face the ableism of everyone around him-- YES, he needs someone to make him heel and to express that kind of vulnerability around, but also Wilson and Cuddy do have this tendency to assume they know what he needs and approach his vulnerability in a condescending and (Wilson especially) morally superior kind of ableist way where they just "know so much better" than him about himself and his pain and his experiences. It can make for such engaging conflict and interesting exploration of themes in a way that I just don't really see in fics that position House as a cocky asshole dom top and Wilson as a blushing little softboi, and I often turn away from top House fics because House, Wilson, and their whole dynamic just feel ooc to me.

Bottom House is just more fun to me, personally. And more sexy, I'll admit. But there's such a startling lack of it! Babygirl's show has existed for almost a decade now, and he does not get railed nearly enough in fanfic! So I want you to know I appreciate and value your contributions to the cause. remember the webcomic boom of the 2000s? I remember. surely more people remember

I’m not just talking about lackadaisy and shit. sometimes I think about all the kinda lame webcomics I read in middle school. most of them are, as far as I know, now lost media. the host websites are offline and waybackmachine doesn’t help. the creators by and large got a few volumes deep and then lost interest or just suffered burnout, stopped updating, eventually took everything down. most of these were hobbyist creations and not very well-made to begin with - creator disinterest sometimes was associated with poor overall construction, as they realized their plots were flawed or nonexistent. it’s hard to keep up a longform thing when you have no direction.

a lot of people probably wouldn’t think most of these things worth preserving. it was a lot of amateur content, begun on a whim and eventually quietly abandoned. but: these things weren’t on the same tier as your deviantart OCs that nobody really cared for except you. it was weirdly easy to build a following for a comic, and even fairly shitty longform stories could amass dedicated followings who produced a surprising volume of fanart and spent time hanging around on the forums, and who were genuinely disappointed to see updates decline and then cease

some pretty amazing feats of independent illustration have remained online (thank you sarah ellerton, braver than any marine, full graphic novels released by 5-10 pages a WEEK, for years, with a full time job, and she’s still doing new comics today.) but most comics begun 2000-2005 either fizzled before 2010, or are still ongoing today right now in our backyard (gunnerkrigg court and questionable content persist; it’s always fun to see an ongoing project with an art style that’s drastically evolved over the last 2 DECADES.) (I just looked up a really dumb webcomic I read like one chapter of in 2005, and found out that its creator abruptly passed away last year.) (ctrl+alt+del remains online, and it’s gotten pretty good! gag-of-the-week online newspaper strips, like cad, achewood, order of the stick, etc have persisted. longform graphic novel stuff was way more likely to fizzle and die)

jess “neondragonart” pfeffer, who released a very good “how to draw dragons” book and worked notably on flight rising, had at least one webcomic early on, “timescapes”. it had a lot of 2000s invader-zim-tier humor, and suffered from a lack of planning, and she quickly acknowledged that and canceled it, but it was fun while it lasted. does she remember. I remember.

like in general i think MUCH of the mcu is only as good as what a handful of v dedicated fans can churn out, it's a good sandbox, etc. i feel like if u expect groundbreaking shit from the source material you WILL be left disappointed bc s.corsese wasn't kidding when he said those movies aren't art per se but more of a 'lets pack as many seats as possible' kind of deal. they are meant to appeal to as many people as possible and that will leave a lot of it falling flat in it's mad dash to appease everyone. they're fun! they're entertaining! they don't really have to be anything else and you're not special if u dislike them.

EDIT: AHHH FORGOT BROTP HOW COULD I: WINSTON + RAY. ECTO’S FAVORITE BOYS. They can spend hours together talking about the nature of faith and religion all the while tinkering with Ecto and coming up with new ways to jerry-rig her insides and add cool (and totally practical, 100% practical ahem) additions to her. He’s the boss now, he’s got Ray on the sat phone calling in the ambulance, he’s redirecting panicked civilians, he’s stabilizing broken limbs and putting C-collars on people, he’s jumpstarting stalled out cars in evac—Winston Zeddemore doesn’t mess around. The other guys can bust ghosts, Z can bust (and fix) the living and do it while looking good and being cool as a cucumber. General opinion on the character: braver than any US Marine. And he’s goddamn right, he IS the sex appeal but don’t sell yourself short man you kept it cool, too. I can’t wait to see how he’s utilized more in the GB:A sequel and I love how in the end he was the most successful out of all of them and kept the candle of hope burning all those years alongside Egon in his own way. no problem on reblogging my post again it is by far one of my MOST favorite posts of all time i reaaally popped off when i wrote that. also one thing i didn’t mention there (bc it honestly would have distracted from the point i was making but is important nonetheless) is that making phoenix a random dark skinned poc is actually extremely colorist.

there is no reason he couldn’t be japanese and simultaneously dark skinned. even without making him an indigenous japanese person (which you should not do unless you are part of these ethnicities), even in the most common japanese ethnic group there are tons of people with darker/ tanned skin, curly hair, broad noses and to act like that is somehow not possible, not only is that extremely colorist, but also very racist because a lot of these notions stems from the acceptance of japanese imperialist propaganda.

and the worst part about it is that in the ACE ATTORNEY UNIVERSE they CANONICALLY!!! live in japanifornia, a fictional california that has a very high population of japanese people and japanese americans. there is literally NO REASON that phoenix or any of the other characters could be mixed japanese americans with dark skin. there’s no reason to remove their japanese heritage no reason to even say they aren’t asian, they live in america for generations most likely, it makes perfect sense that they could be mixed.

so obviously this is nosy of me and you absolutely do not have to do it if it makes you uncomfortable or you just Don't Want to Go There but I'd be *fascinated* to hear you dish about the mp100 fandom? every fandom is bad to a degree but I didn't expect mob psycho to be unusually so.

i didn't actually spend that much time in it but from what i've seen, the fandom is absolutely rabid with purity culture. a very high percentage of the art i saw on tumblr had "if you tag this [pairing] i'll kill you" or similar sentiments, there was an overall strong vibe that people who shipped the adult/minor or incest pairings should be driven out of the fandom, etc. but basically every fandom these days has some of that, so even having a lot of it isn't that unusual--except sometimes it extended towards fic that put the teenage characters in any kind of peril, even if there was no sexuality involved. i wrote one fic and in the first chapter i got negative comments telling me i shouldn't be writing a story like that, and the worst thing that happened in that chapter was a kid scared by a ghost. there's a very popular and very angsty fic that, again, contains no sexuality whatsoever, that the writer had to take a years-long hiatus from because people were harassing them over it and spamming their discord with fanart of the adult/minor pairing. it was just a deeply unpleasant experience overall and the people who do openly ship those pairings are braver than any us marine

I think it's incredible that there are still artists uploading their hard work on twitter while you get news like "nobody can enter twitter offices because the specific IT guy was fired" and "musk has reportedly asked programmers to send him screenshots of their juiciest code lines" every other hour. literally braver and more dedicated than any us marine, etc.
