unfortunately, i haven't yet finished a JD book. i did start reading Wolf in a White Van, but i only read one chapter and that was ages ago… i did enjoy the chapter, but i don't remember specifics, sorry.

so let's talk about You Were Cool!

so, y'all might not know this, but i dropped out of high school after 2 years and got a GED (which is basically, i tested out of high school, for those unfamiliar). i hated high school, it was hell for me, so i got out as soon as i could. so when i say i relate to this song, when i say that this song quite literally makes me cry every time i sing along to it, that's not me exaggerating for dramatic effect. this song captures the feeling of having survived high school.

"We held on to hope of better days coming/And when we did we were right!"

^ this line right here, if i'm not crying already while singing along, this line is where the tears start. JD's voice is so full of painful triumph there, he's just so good at conveying the emotions that i otherwise might not have found a word for, tbh. so yeah, its just such a cathartic song for me :D
