what i love about the Famous Actor Natori Shuuichi of it all is that...it's not just that he's famous and therefore widely recognizable wherever he goes. like yes that is very funny because he was an exorcist before he became a famous actor, which means he CHOSE, on purpose, a day job that would make it harder to hide his double life/secret identity from the hordes of his adoring public, but it's more than that. it's not just that he's famous, it's that he's famous specifically for being an ACTOR, aka a person whose job it is to dissimulate, to make believe, to inhabit roles and emotions other than his own. like he decided he was going to become as visible as possible (which again was literally not necessary! he could have gone into any other career for his day job!!) but in such a way that everyone would see him but no one would see him - they would just see his various made-up personas, including the Famous Actor Natori Shuuichi persona. i can't decide if he's a genius or if he just made so many absurd decisions that they canceled each other out and circled back around to working out. he's either playing 9-dimensional chess or he's eating the pieces. too soon to say.

#the other thing i love about it is that in a very real sense it's his actor day job that is his alter ego #being an exorcist is his normie job. he's just a famous celebrity on the side #which isn't that uncommon in secret identity setups but it's still very funny #natsume's book of friends #natsume yuujinchou #natori shuuichi #natsuyuu meta #my posts #f #i think probably the actual answer is that acting was a very natural career choice because he already masks so extensively #both to hide that he can see things other people can't (and that youkai exist and that he exorcises them) #and to hide what he's really feeling so that no one can use it against him #so if it's already something he has to do & he's good at it...why not have someone tell him exactly how to do it & get paid for it? #and the other part of the answer is that most ppl don't go into acting assuming they'll get famous. the fame was a side effect #so each decision as it was being made probably made perfect sense. but put them all together #and you have this hilarious assortment of elements that seem to directly contradict each other #okay also i would be remiss if i didn't mention the other possible answer which is that the attention came first and was unavoidable #and the acting developed from the need to protect himself from the attention that he was going to be attracting no matter what he did #because he's so beautiful. and (in the exorcist world specifically) because he's the last of the natori #the more i talk about it the more i'm like no becoming a famous actor was the only path that made any sense for him lol #1) he's gonna be watched no matter what bc he's him -> gotta figure out how to hide his secrets -> learn to act as self-defense #or 2) he's got secrets -> he's gotten a lot of practice hiding them -> hey you could make a career out of this! #all roads lead to actor natori shuuichi. and since he's beautiful...all roads lead to FAMOUS actor natori shuuichi #i love it when i ramble so much in the tags that i end up contradicting my own post lol #he's neither thinking ten steps ahead nor is he irrational. he's simply making sensible individual decisions #that follow logically from what is available to him and what his priorities are

While Yo-kai Watch 2: Psychic Specters is meant to be the definitive third version of Yo-kai Watch 2, it is actually missing content from the other versions, Bony Spirits and Fleshy Souls, namely the version-exclusive requests, which all instead have their own counterparts in Psychic Specters.

Train Lie-in with Pride/Slicenrice Under Fire are replaced with Directator's All-Star Cast, Seal No Evil/The Price of Iron are replaced with A Real Charmer, The Realest Kappa/From the Future are replaced with Trying Tangle Tango, and The Bony General/Fleshy Souls General and Enma and the Serpent/The Old Fox Shrine don't have replacements, though many new requests were added to the post-game.

Speaking about YW AU’s, I also made my own story when I was 13-14 years old (so like 4-5 years ago) and its name is « Yo-Kai Watch V ».

It takes place 5 years after the main story’s events. We follow Keita, Inaho (keep in mind that they are 15-16 years old in it) and their friends in their supernatural shenanigans and with their agency. Other watchers will join their adventures, such as Hibiki Ryusei, a girl who owns a « Astra Model » Yo-Kai Watch, and our protagonists will also their own.

There is also a new mechanic I thought of, and it was the « Wish Forms », which needs a « Meteor Medal » to be added on certain Yo-Kais to ascend to this mode.

The story is structured into a prologue (which happens 2 years before YWV and counts as a YW music note rewrite), and epilogue and four main arcs between them.

YWV first arc : As the shooting stars falls

YWV first main arc : Dedtime Arc

YWV second main arc : Ghoulfather Arc

YWV final main arc : Kraken Arc

I just thought that it would be nice to see YW leaning into the Shonen-like genre and a hint of emotions within it, when Nate was still the protagonist.

And if you’re wandering, YWV isn’t a bridge to Shadowside, more like it’s own thing, filled with my self-indulgences.

This is extremely interesting to read ! This AU seems to be very thorough and complete.

I really like the fact that you aged up Keita and Inaho, it will lead to more mature themes and morals, like what it means to grow up, the new perspectives maturity can bring to their role of Watcher, and the view and opinion they have on the different antagonists they will encounter could change, as they start to better understand them.

This new character, Hibiki Ryusei, could bring a lot to the table too. Her Yokai Watch is intriguing as well, how did she obtain it ? Did Steve Jaws release this new model in continuity to the Model U ? Or maybe she inherited it from a family member or a yokai ?

How are the "Wish forms" and "Meteor Medals" working, exactly ? The concept of "Wish form" reminds me a lot of the Dream Link of Nate's Yokai Watch U and the "Dream Link" introduced in the third movie, could it be centered around the same mechanic ? "Meteor medals" are very interesting too, meteors can be associated with a lot of things in the Yokai Watch universe. One of them being the meteors falling during Enma's summoning, could there be a link between these two ? The Meteor medals could be powered by the energy of Enma, allowing yokai to transform ?

I can just imagine a gorgeous summoning and transformation similar to the Godsides in Forever Friends, but maybe I am looking too far- '^^

I also love to see every antagonists of the three games have their own arc. I am very curious about their placement in the story and how you are going to portray each of them. I am sure it is extremely well done, they have a lot of potential and all get a chance to shine !

Perhaps each antagonist will reveal a usefull lore element that will all connect at the end for the final battle, and reveal a plot-twist ? Could The Ghoulfather, McKracken and Dedtime all be working together to dominate the human world ?

I agree that a more Shonen-oriented Yokai Watch series could be very refreshing, with a more mature Nate, a new Watcher to bring some new content, and Inaho as the funny sidekick to balance the whole show. There could be a lot more variety of themes discussed in it, as well as more risks to be taken in terms of content.

But anyway, I can't say it enough, this AU is amazing ! Honestly if is was to become official, I would definitely watch it on TV everyday ! XD I just hope this long post with dozens of questions didn't annoy you too much, I apologize in advance '^^

Yo-kai Watch 2 tierlist: Electric Boogaloo

You know the drill, I have the drill. Let's begin with-

The favourites tier, the guys, gals and yo-pals I enjoy staring at the most.

Like last time I like these guys for some differing reasons.

I used Darknyan, Foiletta, Hig Gnomey, Mermaidyn, Tongus/Nurse Tongus and Smogling/Smogmella in my various PS playthroughs.

And then there are some I haven't used but liked because of the game like Buchinyan, Hovernyan, Don Chan, Harry Barry, Count Zapaway and the Nosirs.

And some I just like because they're cool, like Allnyta and Time Keeler.

And I can appreciate Unfairy because I read fanfiction about them once on AO3 and it was cool.

Here is the Great Tier. I haven't used most of them. So this is mainly because of design or seeing them in the game.

I think the villains of YKW2 were probably the best, even the wicked yo-kai! Which is why they're all in Great.

The little cute moment between Ray O' Light and Drizzelda during that annoying storm chapter was, well, cute.

I really liked the classic yo-kai and having to do those key quests. They actually have personalities which was cool, and they don't just appear once. Which I can appreciate.

The war chapter is by far my favourite chapter in 2, making me like Arachnus and Toadal Dude as well.

Use the hose.

And everyone else just looks cool.

Again, I like most of these guys because of their design or their part in the story.

The bosses in this tier were the ones I thought had cool concepts, I haven't fought Kabuking or Kat Kraydel, though. But the others I have and it was fun.

Looking back I would probably move Arachnia up to Great because of Hazy Lane, but at the time of making this, I didn't know you could get them there so... Yeah.

Everyone here is fine, not bad, just I don't have any memories with them. I haven't used most yo-kai here.

The meh tier, these yo-kai aren't bad but there are things that just make me dislike them a tiny bit.

Apelican haunts my dreams every night because I swear every time I got him, I probably have like 3 or 4 Apelican medals rotting in my medallium.

Eyeclone was an annoyance to defeat, tough, but not the fun tough. I had to fight all those yo-kai in the rain for hours the first time I played.

Gargaros also haunts my nightmares, but I did finally beat him in Yo-kai watch 3.

Okay, looking back I'd probably move Sproink to Neutral or Good but only because of the quest.

Swelton's design isn't my preference, honestly.

Teastroyer was like Eyeclone as in he took forever to beat in a very annoying way.

I don't actually remember why I put Tyrat in Meh, probably because I could never get him. Maybe I'd put him in neutral now, I don't know.

And finally, the yo-kai I didn't know existed until making this tier list.

Will I make a yo-kai watch 3 tierlist? Maybe. Depends on how liked this tierlist is.

Youkai Butler Whisper’s Theme ~Serious Edition~ (Yo-Kai Watch 2 [2014])

Such a Classical-sounding Violin at the center of this track! This one’s got a somber vibe because of the melody alone. Given the “spook” noises at the beginning, it seems to depict Whisper as a lone ghost who lacks a significant purpose. I liked the melody of Whisper's theme from the 1st game, but the overload of cartoony noises prevented me from enjoying it, so it’s great to see what I consider a glow-up for the sequel, even though this version still isn’t considered the “main” one in comparison to the earlier one that’s still used in Yo-Kai Watch 2 as well
