Okay I haven’t posted here for awhile BUT YOU KNOW WHAT I have a few Zerhys AUs that I’ve written stuff for in my google docs and idk if I’ll ever actually post anything because most of my fanfic writing time is for P0is0ned and this is just stuff I messily type up on my phone sometimes BUT:

1. BL2 AU: Rhys ends up on the train that Jack blows up at the beginning (like Vasquez set him up with a fake job down on Pandora or something IDK???) and thus ends up stuck with the Vault hunters, who naturally are initially distrustful of him but can’t justify just killing him. Jack realizes “oh shit one of my employees is down there with the Vault hunters, I have an extra card at my disposal besides just Angel” and contacts Rhys like “hey if you work with me here and spy on them and stuff I’ll get you back to Helios and get you a huge promotion” and Rhys is like “Sure I don’t see why not, these people are dicks” (headcanon that early in BL2 Zer0 is like, just the biggest “I don’t need friends” asshole).  Except then he does end up seeing why not as he starts warming up to these people (especially Zer0, because, yeah) but by then he’s already been selling him out and sabotaging them. (Bonus Rhys+Angel bonding at some point because they are in a very similar boat? And look I cannot just make this about Zerhys I love Borderlands 2 so so much) 

2. AU where immediately post-BL2 Rhys, Vaughn, and Yvette are among the Hyperions stranded on Pandora, and much like the Crimson Lance soldiers before them they turn to banditry. Rhys has Handsome Jack AI in his head at this point, and with Jack’s help he’s able to take charge as a very unlikely bandit leader. He carefully avoids doing anything that will call too much attention to his clan, trying to focus on survival more than anything.  This becomes a problem when some of his dumbass underlings manage to subdue and capture Zer0. Jack warns him against freeing Zer0, claiming they’ll likely kill him and bring Sanctuary’s wrath down on the clan. However, keeping Zer0 hostage or killing them seem equally risky options. Zer0 gets to sit in a cell and watch Rhys argue with himself, occasionally trying to work things out with him. 

3. Medieval fantasy bullshit. Hi I love medieval fantasy bullshit what if Rhys was a lord and Zer0 was some weirdo possibly-demonic hedge knight and medieval forbidden romance happens. Scandal occurs because of Zer0 being a weirdo possibly-demonic hedge knight. What if Lancelot and Guinevere shit except it ends good and no one joins any churches? Just the parts with the daring heroics and stuff. I don’t have good specific details for this. Just...Knights... 

4. A less well-socialized "only lives to be an assassin” Zer0 is hired to kill Rhys but then some bandits almost kill steal them as they’re following him. It is a matter of honor that they do not just allow this to happen and just take credit for someone else’s kill, so they save him- but by that point he’s been beaten up enough that he’s a little too pathetic to kill. Zer0 thinks “I’ll kill him later” and gets him to safety but by then he has already begun to endear himself to them. Later they’re waiting for the right moment to strike and Rhys will like see them lurking ominously in the shadows and go “Hey Zer0! How’s it going?” and then later he’s straight up asking for them to help him out with his “bandits want me dead” problem. Of course Rhys eventually finds out “oh you were planning to kill me” because conflict must happen. :) 

5. Something something Rhys is actually forced into being a janitor and Hyperion has Zer0 in R&D doing tests on them. As far as Rhys knows they’re a fucked up monster because they keep killing people. Then he actually encounters them and wow I know this sounds Shape of Water but this actually came out of thinking about befriending Jurassic World hybrids lmao. Because Zer0 is the indoraptor. To me.

Synopsis:

Loooking for a time of rest and recreation, the USS Enterprise is set in orbit on the amusement park planet they visited on the “Shore Leave” episode of The Original Series. A world with a technology that materializes the thoughts and desires of its visitors' minds.

Lieutenant Uhura, Doctor McCoy and Lieutenant Sulu are in the planet's surface enjoying on its landscape. Just when McCoy recalls his first visit, the White Rabbit and Alice from Alice In Wonderland make their appearence again. Then, the trio splits looking for their own enjoyment.

While the doctor is relaxing with the view of a mansion of a southern plantation --like the one of the classic movie, Gone With The Wind-- he was interrupted by The Queen of Hearts from Alice Trough A Looking Glass. She was ordering her guards to behead McCoy. He has to run while he communicates with the Enterprise. The captain declared an emergency and orders all the crew to be beamed back to the ship. McCoy and Sulu are beamed up, but Uhura is captured by a hovering drone.

Kirk tries to make contact with the planet's caretaker, but he got no response. Then, he decides to be beamed down with Spock, McCoy and Sulu. While they are beamed down in search for Uhura, she is imprisioned by the master computer in a cave compound. It assumes that the ship is her master. Any effort to find her with the ship's sensors is useless. It has the lieutenant captive to take control of the Enterprise and it threatens her crewmates with “turn them off”.

As the landing party gets deeper into the forest, they found the tombstone of the caretaker. His death explains the misconduct of the robot machines. The master computer guides Kirk and the rest of the landing team to an area by fooling them making believe there was the master system.

In that area, they face an attack by pterodactyl. They all ran to a nearby cave. Inside the cave, they face a giant cat from the outside that tries to attack them with one of his paws. Once there, McCoy remembers he was mortally wounded on his last visit by a black knight and the machines took him to the main compound to be healed.

Kirk devise a plan to get them to the main compound. He asks the doctor for help to fake a wound on him. McCoy uses a substance called melenex that makes a person lose his consciousness and also causes skin decoloration. It is only temporal and look worse than it is. Kirk offers himself first but Spock interrupted him because he is the most appropiate for the mission for his knowledge on computers.

Meanwhile, the master computer is building a computer inside the Enterprise.

Once Spock is taken by hovercraft, Kirk, McCoy and Sulu ran on the hovercraft's way while they are attacked by a double headed dragon.

As Spock is ready to be “repaired” at the main compound, the captain enters the cave to stop the master computer. He and the captive lieutenant try to reasoning with the main system. It told them the caretaker died of old age and it develop self awareness and wants to go away from the planet. Its main plan is to take the Enterprise to go to the farthest regions of the galaxy to gather with its fellow computers.

Kirk and Uhura convinced the master computer that computers are made by humans to serve them and they work in harmony. That it is not a shame to serve if it is freely and in a volunteer fashion. That it would bring the whole galaxy there by showing the planet's wonderfulness. Then, the master computer change its way.

Fascinating Facts:

This is a sequel to the first season of The Original Series' episode, “Shore Leave” written by Theodore Sturgeon. There were plans for a sequel episode for TOS, but it was undeveloped.

In the TOS episode, Alice was played by actress Marcia Brown. In this episode the voice of Alice was performed by Nichelle Nichols.

Actor William “Billy” Blackburn was the White Rabbit in the TOS episode. James Doohan was the voice of that character in this episode.

Brienne isn’t from the heart kingdom, she is actually a siren from eradicated Card sea kingdom “Tarot”.

It was a place Equivalent to France; back then, her name was Yvette. She was a knight and singer, much like her people.

Brienne is a singer that resides in the heart kingdom these days.

It is unknown who or what destroyed her kingdom and her people.

Although she tried her best she couldn't protect her people...

The Tarot kingdom had fallen along with its people and Yvette fled to a new kingdom with a new life.

Back in her homeland Brienne had a sister named Brittany, who often danced and sang with her in the shows she did, but nowadays, she plays solo.

Brienne now, has a wall that kept people from getting too close to her.

She didn't mind closing off many people, even if they never deserved it.

But she was done letting people alone beyond her best friend YOU.

Maybe...she did opened up to people Once upon a time.

Brienne was a knight for her princess, who she opened up to often.

They were really close.

However, she failed to save her kingdom...she truly loved her princess.

On that day, she was broken, her heart and mind.

Her eyes were so dark and empty with anger.

Those who knew Brienne before the fallen sea kingdom, she was the wild card, fun, loving, caring, joyful, and loved to party, much like her people.

She was a symbol of freedom as she once swam wild in the sea.

But now, she was gloomy, rebellious, annoyed, and closed off.

In the heart kingdom, she entertains the King and his court or the people of the kingdom.

While everyone enjoyed her shows, despite how dark her songs may be.

The King, Wally, was infatuated with her, amazed, memorized, and couldn't help but be lured by her darkness.

Brienne may have been on good terms with people in general; she was not friends with the King or his court.

Brienne knows the REAL truth; they're murderers who destroyed kingdoms and their rulers.

Expected from a selfish ruler, much like King Wally.

Although, she doesn't hate or despise them.

Brienne just doesn't approve of their judgment or acts.

While The King sees her as an angel from heaven, Brienne sees him as a selfish brat.

She only tolerates Wally because he reminds her of a red-haired boy she saved from the sea.

Brienne does look down on Wally and his court as she doesn't respect their morals, and although Wally tries to impress her.

It all fails.

It would seem The King grew a crush on the siren singer, but she does not require that love back.

At least not as of now....

King Wally & Brienne's relationship is close "friends to lovers" but in an untrusting way on Brienne's part.

It's like Ariel and Eric's relationship, but it's the opposite with King Wally falling in love with the siren.

While it is true, Brienne saved Prince Wally as a child; she doesn't recognize him as it was many years ago.

Fun fact: The Tarot card sea kingdom was part of the chaos fraction.

The sirens were wild card and party animals and free.

They did killed sailors, but there was one who was against it and refused to do harm and evil.

Yvette.

The Princess of The Tarot Kingdom, was infatuated by Yvette's rebellious nature and her optimistic and kindness ;)

my take on a post-heart of thorns trahearne! a companion piece to my commander twins, posted here and here.

many design notes under the cut:

not shown here, but he is missing his right leg, just above the knee, and has lost some strength in his left arm-- both due to dragon corruption. he is visually impaired in his left eye due to an injury from the pact fleet's destruction.

the design for staff!caladbolg is a fusion of the scepter and the defiant glass staff skin! the broken glass and metal grip from the defiant glass skin felt fitting-- both the blade and trahearne himself have lost pieces of themselves in the jungle they may never get back but, against all odds, they are still standing.

the floating crystals at the top of the staff are chunks of aurene's first brand crystal, empowering the blade! he wears a smaller piece of the same crystal as a necklace under his clothes, (yvette wears a matching one).

in my heart of hearts caladbolg can change at will for him! it can be either a greatsword or a staff depending on what he needs the most.

he has a wedding band (^: (unfortunately covered by his gloves )^:) lukas wears the other half.

i have half formed thoughts about the maguuma's mantle being symbolic of how the jungle has changed him. do NOT ask me to elaborate i only have the vibes.

he is still a reaper, but he multiclasses with druid after heart of thorns. since pact brass have stuck him behind the desk in lion's arch a majority of the time, he learns healing magic so he can help beyond just logistics and paperwork.

a fun fact specific to this art and my drawings of the twins: its hard to notice since they're mostly covered up, but in the background there's the major arcana i associate the most with each of them! trahearne has the star, lukas has the moon, and yvette has the sun.

Unfortunately, "A gallant knight, In sunshine and in shadow" has the most out-of-order vibes-to-words ratio of all the documents in progress! There's no plot so far, just scraps and situations.

The title's from this Edgar Allen Poe poem, which is a little out of step for DA:I, a game about fantasy Catholicism in fantasy middle-ages Europe (but hey, there's pulp romance novels and at least one H.ighlander reference?); Right now, it's a catch-all document for Blackwall and Josephine, two of the companion/advisor characters who, if the player character pursues neither of them romantically, have a flirtation that goes nowhere because of class differences, and also Blackwall's [massive spoilers for a 10 year old game redacted] possibly/probably/definitely unforgivable past. And also, Blackwall's doomed in probably 2/3ds of all possible endings for Inquisition.

“Masks – as though this isn’t costume enough,” Warden Blackwall was saying, ill-tempered, as comfortable as an aristocrat in the confessional. There was an oath punctuating, but Josephine thought it polite, even in private conversation, not to notice it. Not a one of them was happy in Halamshiral. (Save Madame de Fer, Josephine added, out of loyalty and out of a fair assessment. She would be thinking of how to thank her for saving Yvette from an unsuitable conversation for weeks.) “To come as we are would be seen as a threat – or worse, an insult,” she replied. “They could stand to be insulted.” “If only the cost were not so high.” Hopefully, her implied agreement was understood.
