Skye's Confession (Rewrite)

Paw Patrol Skye Fanfic

This is a rewrite. I have now watched Jet To The Rescue so I have changed some details from the original to reflect the fact that Skye had previously managed to overcome her fear of eagles. I also fixed the spellings of Marshall and Zuma's names. The original can be found on my Wattpad.

When Skye falls from the sky after being asked to deal with a particular eagle, it becomes apparent that there is more to her previously thought overcome fear than the Paw Patrol had ever imagined. In this non-canonical story Skye is forced to give up her secrets, but how will the Paw Patrol react to this revelation?

Chapter 1: What Happened Skye?

"Skye, I need you to lore the eagle away." Ryder says.

"Eagle?" Skye asks, "Okay!" she says in a confident voice.

She barks out her wings and flies up to face the eagle. The eagle turns around to see her. Once she has the chance to really look at it, she freezes. She begins to hyperventilate.

Chase is closer to her. He becomes panicked, "Ryder, I think there's a problem."

"What's wrong?" he asks, not being able to see what's happening as well.

"It's Skye, she doesn't so good!" Chase is now becoming increasingly concerned.

"Skye, everything alright up there?" Ryder tries to contact her on her Pup Tag.

Chase tries too, "Skye? Skye please say something!"

Skye blacks out and begins to fall. She lands wings first on her back, a few meters away from where she had been in the sky. Chase runs over to her still-laying body.

"Rocky, see if you have something in your truck that could distract the eagle." Ryder calls out, "Marshall, take Skye back to The Lookout and do what you can. Chase, you can go with them."

"On it!" Reply Rocky, Marshall and Chase.

Skye wakes up back in The Lookout, not sure what happened after she blacked out. She sits up, staring at the ground.

"Skye, you okay?" Marshall asks.

Skye is too overwhelmed to answer, she won't even look at Marshall.

"Skye?" he asks again.

Chase tries, "Skye? Please say something."

She stays silent.

Marshall sighs, "Guess we'll just get on with the check-up, give me some space would you?"

Chase nods and steps back before turning away. He sits and whines quietly.

Marshall notices, "She means alot to you, doesn't she?" he asks while continuing with the x-ray machine.

Chase looks back at him, "Skye? Yeah, she does mean alot to me. I don't know what I'd do if she isn't okay. I just don't understand what happened, I thought she got over her fear in Barkingburg?"

"Yeah, we all thought that. So why is she so important to you?" Marshal becomes curious.

"Well," Chase begins, "She's always been there for me," he says thinking back to when she comforted him on the rooftop in Adventure City, "I mean, it's not like you guys haven't, but, well, I don't know..." his voice trails off.

"Sorry," Marshall apologises, "I didn't mean to dig so deep."

"No, it's fine," Chase reassures him, "I guess I just never really thought about it, there's always just kinda been something, you know?"

"Yeah, I like to think that all three of us are like that, to some extent at least," Marshall admits, "With so many pups in the Paw Patrol, it's important we all have a smaller group that will be there for us when we need it most, and that we can admit things to that we wouldn't tell the rest of the group, things not the whole group would do for one of us pups. For me, I like to think that would be you and Skye."

"Makes sense, so how is she?" Chase asks, noticing Marshall has stopped taking x-rays.

"Well," he doesn't want to hurt him, "It's hard to tell yet..."

His Pup Tag beeps, "Marshall?" Ryder asks, "Do you copy?"

"Yeah, I copy." Marshall replies.

"Great," says Ryder, "How's Skye doing?"

"Well," he begins, "We don't know. She's awake, but won't speak. No reason she shouldn't be able to that I can find, but we have no way of knowing whether it's because she's choosing not to or what's going on. Other than that, no broken bones or anything. Just some serious bruising where she landed on her back."

"Don't worry, I think I might know why she isn't speaking. Just trust me on this, okay? We're headed back now so I'll come and try talking to her." Ryder says, knowing Chase can hear and so trying to keep him calm.

"Okay, see you all soon." Marshall ends communication.

Chapter 2: Chase Is Here For You

Ryder and the other pups arrive back at The Lookout. The pups head to the elevator, but it doesn't go up. They all wait in suspense.

"We'll leave you to it." Marshall says. Him and Chase join the other pups in the elevator before it then ascends to the top.

Chase goes off to one side of the room, distancing himself from the other pups so none of them see something's wrong. Marshal soon follows.

"Hey, why are you over here alone?" He asks Chase.

Chase replies with "I don't want the others to see how scared and upset I am."

Marshall giggles, "Well, if you ask me, standing alone away from everybody only makes it more obvious. If you really wanna hide it, we should distract ourselves by going and playing with the others. If nothing else, they'll be too busy to notice. Either way, if your standing alone it's basically guaranteed that somebody will question you."

Chase admits defeat, "Yeah, I guess you're right."

They both then join the others in a game of Tug of War.

Meanwhile, Ryder was pretty sure he knew what was up with Skye not speaking.

"Skye, it's Ryder, he sighed, "You don't need to say anything, just nod your head if you can hear me."

Skye nods her head.

"Okay, is it alright if I ask you a few questions?" He asked as he sat on the floor next to her.

She nods her head again.

"Okay, are you choosing not to speak?"

She nods her head yet again.

"Okay, is that because you felt overwhelmed?"

She nods.

"I see, is there anything else going on?"

She nods again, but this time more subtlety.

"Okay, is there any pup you'd be able to talk to?"

Skye thinks for a minute, before nodding her head again.

"Marshall?" Ryder asks.

She considers answering yes to Marshall, but decides against it and so shakes her head.

"Chase?"

She nods.

"Okay, I'll go get him."

Ryder goes to get Chase.

"Chase!" he calls.

Chase runs over to him.

"Is Skye okay?" Chase asks.

"Yeah, she said she'd talk to you." Ryder replies.

"Really? That's not funny."

"I'm not laughing."

"Oh. OH!" Chase exclaims before running to the elevator and descending to the bottom floor where Skye is.

"Skye?" he asks while cautiously advancing towards her, "Ryder said you'd talk to me, is that true?"

"Yeah." she says very quietly.

Chase runs up to her and tries to nuzzle her, but she is quick to carefully scoot away, mindful of her back as it was still in pain from the fall. She still doesn't make eye contact.

Chase apologises, "Oh, sorry. I'm just so glad you're okay."

"No, I'm sorry," She protests, while still speaking quietly, "I'm sorry I let you down, and that I scared you."

"No, it's not your fault. But if you're still scared of eagles you should've said something. We all thought you had gotten past that." Chase says with a guilty look on his face.

"I'm not scared, of most eagles. But that eagle today, well, there's something about it that none of us could've known, not even me, until it was too late."

"What's that?"

"Well..." Skye says, her voice shaking before trailing off.

"Sorry, I didn't mean to pressure you. You don't have to tell me if you don't want to."

"No, I do want to." she makes eye contact for the first time since the incident, "It's just, it's like there's some kind of force stopping me. But, I know I'll have to say it eventually, you all deserve an explanation. I just need a few days, Ryder will know what I mean."

"Okay, but I'm always here for you if you need, no matter what." Chase offers, before walking away to the elevator with a disappointed look on his face.

"Thanks." Skye whispered, but loud enough that Chase heard.

Chase turned back one last time, "Before I go, there is one more thing. You don't have to tell me, but, I would like to know. What happened up there today?"

"Oh, that. Well, because of the 'something' about that particular eagle, well, as soon as I realised, I panicked. I couldn't breath, then I blacked out..."

"Okay, thanks for telling me. I guess I'll see you around?" Chase asked.

Skye looked away, Chase waited a second before heading to the elevator and ascending back to the top floor.

Ryder met him at the elevator door, "What did she say?" he asked.

Chase paused for a second, not sure whether answering would be a betrayal to Skye. He then remembered something Skye said, 'Ryder will know what I mean', and decided he should answer Ryder's question. "She said she needs a few days, and that you'd know what she means by that. She also said that she needs to explain something to all of us, when she's ready."

"Okay, thanks..." Ryder's voice trailed of before he walked away, head facing the ground.

Chase was concerned for him, "Ryder? What's wrong?"

"I just don't understand what happened. I mean, we all thought she wasn't scared anymore. And even so, it's never been such a large problem before, I don't understand why she didn't say something. I feel that it was wrong of me to ask her, even though she said it was okay and always agreed to it even before what happened in Barkingburg. I can't help but wonder if maybe she did have a problem all this time, but was too afraid to say anything for fear of letting down the team, and I let that happen." Ryder explained.

"Look, I don't really know what happened either, but Skye told me that she isn't scared of most eagles anymore, but there was something different about that eagle today that you couldn't have possibly known, and she didn't realise herself until it was too late. I may not know what that difference was, but I know it means you have no reason to feel guilty. I'm sure she'll tell us all when she's ready."

"Thanks Chase." Ryder said, they both then joined the other pups in Tug of War again.

Chapter 3: The Confession

A few days later, Skye decides she's as ready as she'll ever be to explain to the other's what happened during the eagle encounter. She ascends in the elevator to find everyone. They all notice when she gets to the top and steps out, everything goes silent. Skye still can't bear to look at any of the pups, besides Chase. She shoots him a sort of, 'I'm ready', or 'this is it' type look, and he nods in return, as if to say 'if you're sure' and 'I'm here for you'.

"Guys," she begins, as loud as her shaky voice will let her, "I need to talk to you all."

Everybody took the signal to gather around her, while being wary of giving her space after what had happened.

"I think you all deserve an explanation as to what happened to me with the eagle a few days ago."

"Skye, you don't need to do this," Marshall cuts in, "you don't owe us anything, we're all just glad you're okay."

"Except I do owe this to you, you all deserve to know that I've been lying about something ever since I first joined the Paw Patrol." her voice was now more shaky than it'd ever been.

Everybody gasped in shock, not understanding what Skye could possibly be talking about.

She spoke slowly, "You see, I was more afraid of eagles than any of you have ever known. And it wasn't just some irrational fear like I tried to make it out to be. And, I hope you all know I've moved past that now. You know we all have tough pasts that for most of us, only Ryder knows about, the stories of how he found each of us, and why we are all here. But there's a part to mine, Ryder, that not even you know about. Let me start from the beginning. When I was very young, I was so small an eagle was able to pick me up and carry me for a very long time. I never saw my owners again. That's where my fear originally came from, but it gets worse. You see Ryder, that's the part you already know, but here's the part you didn't. When you found me, I was hiding many cuts, scrapes and bruises from what that eagle did to me. Just before you found me, it had been throwing me off the nest, how I got the bruises, just to carry me back up and drop me in the thorn bush next to it, where I got all those cuts, some of which I still have today in the form of scars. Not just emotional, but physical scars on my body from all those years of being grabbed with sharp talons and dropped in a thorn bush."

Ryder jumped in, "But Skye, you always told me you were willing to face your fear and take care of eagles whenever we needed and now it's okay, what happened this time?"

"Well, you see, that eagle from a couple days ago wasn't just any eagle. First going into it, I thought it would be okay. But this time there was one small problem, as soon as I was level with it and could really see it, I noticed something none of us could've expected. That eagle from a couple days ago, was the same eagle that tortured me for all that time when I was younger. As soon as I realised, I couldn't get the flashbacks out of my head, so I panicked. In my head I was reliving that awful time, I couldn't stop it. Now there's one more thing you all need to know. Sometimes I get so over stimulated with a strong emotion that I hyperventilate and shut down, it's like some sort of force stopping me from doing anything until I get chance to be alone for a long time so my mind can slowly process it all after having everything dumped on it. It hasn't really been an issue since I joined the Paw Patrol so I never felt the need to mention it. I thought I had left that part of me behind, but now I guess not. With that said, that's basically what happened. I couldn't breath, which caused me to blackout and fall. When I woke up, I couldn't speak. Not that I physically couldn't, of sorts, but it was that force I said about, it wouldn't let me. And even now, speaking to you all right now is incredibly difficult although partially for another reason."

"But Skye, why didn't you tell us any of that before?" Marshall asked.

"Well, you all obviously don't want me around now you know I'm so scared of a bird, and that I lied to you all. I know it's pretty stupid, but I can't help it. I tried to forget about it all, I really tried, but that stuff literally left scars that I have to feel everyday of my life, and that pain is a constant reminder I just can't get rid of. Hey, I guess that's something I've been hiding from you all. Point is, I lied to you all, and kept secrets from you all for years, and I know you guys deserve better than that on the Paw Patrol. I know I will never be able to even come close to making it up to you," she looked at Marshall for the first time in a while, as if to say this next part was directed to him more than the others, "but I still want to say, I am so sorry for everything." She then ran to the balcony in tears.

"Skye!" call Marshall and Chase, before looking at each other, nodding, and running after her.

"Skye, of course we still want you around." Marshall tries to comfort her.

"Yeah," Chase agrees, "nobody's upset or mad at you."

"Why though?" Skye says in disbelief, "I lied to you all, I kept secrets for years and hid things. You all should be mad."

The three of them hadn't noticed the other pups standing in the doorway with Ryder.

Rocky steps towards them, "We understand why you did it."

Zuma joined him, "You were trying to protect yourself from rejection, any of us would've done the same if it was us."

Rubble steps forward too, he says "Yeah" in agreement.

"Really?" Skye tried to dry her face, "You're really not mad at me?"

"Of course not." the other pups say in unison.

Everest suddenly appears, "And neither am I." she says.

"Everest?" Ryder asks, "How long have you been here?"

"A while," she answers, "I saw Skye fall a few days ago from the mountain, and I wanted to see if she was okay. I would've come sooner, but I had to wait for Jake in case he got back from his trip and got scared when I wasn't there. Skye, I'm gonna be honest, I've been standing here long enough to have heard everything you said."

"Oh..." Skye hadn't anticipated Everest being there.

"Sorry, I probably should've said something sooner." Everest apologises.

"No, it's fine," Skye reassures her, "you deserve to know too, I just didn't think that you'd find out today. I'm sorry."

Marshall and Chase notice Skye's voice has become very shaky and tears are forming in her eyes again, they scoot closer to try and comfort her. The other pups, now including Everest, decide to walk away but Ryder stays stood by the door.

"Skye," he starts, his voice shaking, "I'm sorry. If I had known what that eagle did to you, I would've never asked you to face any eagle even now, and I shouldn't have either way. I'm so sorry I put you through that, and I promise to never ask you to do it again."

"No, " she protests, "I always told you it was fine. It always was fine. I didn't mind doing what needs to be done, no matter how hard it was. Plus now it's fine, I promise. I just never imagined I'd have to see that eagle again. I didn't want to let the team down, but, I couldn't control it. I'm so sorry, I should've told you about everything sooner. I just never thought it would be such a big problem."

"Skye, you didn't let anybody down. You tried your best, things just went a little wrong, but now you're okay. That's all that matters to us. And you didn't have to tell us anything if you didn't want to, but we're glad you did. If it's okay with you, I'm gonna redesign your mission suit to be... more lightweight." Ryder offers.

Skye giggled, "That would be amazing, thank you."

Again, don't copy, trace, reference, repost, use or edit my art :) Just a doodle to relax, I colored it a little bit! While Katie is pregnant with her and Ryder's first son, she can always count on the first gen dogs to be around her! This is just a doodle of sometime during half pregnancy, during winter, and everyone snuggled against her! They love to ear the baby's kicking or to perceive his presence (with their dogs powers ahah)... and also to keep her warm. They have a lot of free time since the second gen is mostly working and they are really close to Katie so they do all they can to stay close to her! going out with Bucky was always an adventure, especially during the pandemic.

most people couldn't understand that he was pardoned to begin with, and most people didn't understand that he was exempt from wearing a mask. being a super soldier, he couldn't get sick, and wearing a mask gave him PTSD flashbacks, and you didn't want to cause him any unnecessary stress.

so, you took him to the doctors, and got him exempt from wearing them. he was given a little card that showed he was in fact exempt, and he carried it everywhere with him.

today was grocery day, and Bucky woke up little. normally, you wouldn't bring him with you when he was little, but Sam was babysitting his nephews, so you had no choice but to bring him with.

you went over the rules for leaving the house with him, such as no wandering off, if you can't find Mama, ask someone who looks like they work there, and hold Mama's hand while crossing the street and in the parking lot.

he always obeyed those rules, desperate to be a good boy. if he was a good boy, he got a Kinder Egg, and today he was really craving a Kinder Egg. he held your hand as you two walked into the store, and then transferred his hand to the cart. his eyes were locked on the registers, where he knew the Kinder Eggs were while you were picking out avocados. he noticed one of the workers looking at him, and he quickly diverted his eyes, not wanting to get in trouble for staring, which Uncle Sam always told him he needed to work on.

he looked back at you, who was putting two avocados in a bag, when the worker approached.

she tapped Bucky on the shoulder, and he turned around, trying not to recoil at the physical contact. he didn't like people touching him, especially with the treatment he got at HYDRA.

"excuse me sir, you need to be wearing a mask, it's store policy." she said, rather rudely, and before Bucky's little brain could even string a sentence together, you stepped in.

"he's exempt." you said, and the lady rolled her eyes.

"I'm sorry, but he doesn't look 12, and unless he has asthma, he should be wearing a cloth mask when he is in public places."

your eyebrows shot up at her tone. "I get that, but he has been exempt from wearing a mask, or receiving the vaccine." you said, pulling out your wallet. whenever Bucky is little and the two of you venture out of the house, you put the exemption card into your wallet for easy access. you pulled the card out and showed her. "he's been exempt from his doctor. he cannot catch the virus, and he cannot wear a mask. now, if you'll excuse us, we have groceries to buy."

the employee took a step closer to Bucky. "again, it is store policy. he needs to wear a mask, or you will both be asked to leave." Bucky swallowed thickly, and looked at you. he wanted nothing more than to run away, or sit down and cry, but he knew both of those would result in no Kinder Egg, and that's all he wanted. Mama had told him that the store sold Paw Patrol Kinder Eggs, and he really wanted a Marshall toy. he had Chase and Rubble, but he didn't have Marshall, Zuma, Rocky, or Skye. he really wanted Everest too, she was his favourite.

he watched as the lady narrowed her eyes in on you, and stepped closer. Bucky tried to stop the lady by grabbing her arm, but jumped back when his hand was slapped. his chin wobbled, and he looked at you.

your face softened, and you gently pulled him behind you. "it's okay, buddy. give me a second, then you can have a Kinder Egg." you said, and he cracked a smile, despite the tears threatening to run down his face. you turned back to the employee, making sure you kept a hand on Bucky behind you at all times.

"I don't know who you think you are, or of you've simply been living under a rock. you'd have to be insane to continue to push when I've shown you the proper documentation that proves that he is exempt from wearing a mask. no, he's not 12, he's 107. he doesn't have asthma, he has severe PTSD relating to masks because he spent 70 years as a murderous assassin. he is a super soldier, therefore he cannot contract the virus. he is exempt from wearing a mask, and I would appreciate it if you did not be physical with him." you ranted.

"he touched me first, which could be considered assault. maybe next time leave the murderer at home when you come for groceries." she said, and walked away. you turned to Bucky, who was silently crying behind you.

"come here, baby." you said, bringing him into a hug.

"I sorry, Mama." he whispered. "I sorry for bein' a bad boy." you shook your head as you rubbed his back.

"you weren't bad. not at all. that lady was just mean, and she didn't understand. none of it was your fault. you were just trying to protect me." you assured him, and he nodded.

"wan' go home." he said, and you nodded, dropping the avocados back onto the table. "let's go baby. we'll get your Kinder Eggs and head home, okay?" you said, and his head shot up.

"I still get eggies?" he asked, and you nodded with a smile. "of course baby. crying because your feelings were hurt and crying because you didn't get what you wanted are two very different things. you weren't bad, and you listened to all my rules like the good boy you are." you watched his face light up at the praise and giddy smile spread on his face.

15 minutes later, you were back in the car, with a happy Bucky who was munching on one of his Kinder Eggs and playing with the small Marshall toy while you drove home. his seat was leant back, and he was making Marshall fly in the air coming in from the windows, the situation at the store completely forgotten.

Synopsis:

The fanfiction talks about what if Animal Farm had received paw patrol as one of the main characters. This is an amazing fanfiction which shows us the final of the story interviewed by the paw patrol. Can they save the animals from Napoleon?

Final Version:

Paw patrol and Animal Farm: Boxer’s rescue

Boxer has gone out alone to drag a load of stone down to the windmill. So he fell, and he couldn’t get up…

A few days later… Boxer was taken care by Muriel and Clover, so Squealer got into the room and said that a human doctor had arrived to take care of Boxer. When he got into the Doctor’s car, Muriel saw that at the back of the car it was written “slaughterhouse”, so Muriel and the other ones started to scream, trying to warn Boxer, but he coudn’t listen. And this was the end of the best worker Animal Farm has ever had. After that Muriel told a pigeon to warn paw patrol, saying that they needed their help…

One day later the pigeon got back with an answer. The paw patrol was going to go to Animal Farm, and they were getting there at the mid day. Few hours later they arrived at the farm, hidden from the pigs, and they started a meeting with all the other animals. After the meeting they had reached a conclusion, the group was going to be divided. Rubble, Zuma, Marshall and Everest were going to stay and help the animals at their jobs, and also try to start a revolution against the pigs. On the other hand Chase, Rocky, Skye and Tracker would go after Boxer, and try to save him from death.

At the farm, Rubble, Zuma, Marshall and Everest were staying in the same place as Muriel and Clover, they were trying to make a plan about how they would start a revolution against Napoleon and the pigs. So Marshall had an idea to convince all the other animals that Napoleon is bad for the Animal Farm. They would enter the house and take some pictures with their special equipment, and after that show the pictures to everybody in another secret meeting. Chase, Rocky, Skye and Tracker went after Boxer, trying to find the trail made by the wagon, they spent almost 3 hours on it. After finding the tracks, they walked more 5 hours until they reached the slaughterhouse, where Boxer was. It was a frightful place, with a lot of blood outside. However it was already darkening, so they sat up a camp, and slept because the next day was going to be difficult and exhausting.

The next morning Rubble, Zuma, Marshall and Everest snuck in the house, while the pigs were sleeping and took a picture of almost everything, the food that the pigs got only for them, pigs sleeping in beds, and a list of how they would take Boxer out of their way. Few minutes later they came back, and all the animals were in the forest. Rubble showed them the pictures of the house, where the pigs were. All animals were furious, the chickens said “We should kill these bastards”, and the cat replied “How? They have the dogs”. A discussion has started. Then Tracker entered the front, with his great sense of smell, guided the other three to the place where Boxer was.

They walked in without making much noise so as not to be discovered. They went down until they got to the boxer's room. This was a very tense hour, as the person who had kidnapped Boxer was also there. They had to come up with another plan. That was the time for Skye to act, because as she was very agile it was the ideal job for her. The dog went quickly in the room and tried to get Boxer out, but he was stuck. She untied him so that the two could escape.However by that time the man had already noticed, although Rocky wouldn't let him pass by showing his intimidating teeth. They are able to escape by the behind door, while the man was calling for help. Now the five animals had to flee, but as the horse was already injured, they were unable to go so fast, but that didn’t stop them from continuing to flee. They entered the forest until they could no longer be seen. At that time everyone was already relieved, because their mission had been completed, now Boxer was no longer in danger, he could go back to the farm, where all his friends were waiting for him. They were coming to the house, because one day ago Marshall said to Chase that they would be there.

At 5 p.m. the animals started the revolution, they got in the house and started yelling at the pigs, although the paw patrols didn’t like to fight, they had to do it. When Napoleon called the dogs, one of them bit Everest, so the paw patrol entered in the fight nobody could hurt one of them and got out unscathed. After minutes of fighting the animals captured the pigs and the dogs and arrested them in chairs. Napoleon was asking godliness, he said “What is that about, I was always good with you, I also sent Boxer to a good doctor”. Rubble asked “Sir is that the truth”, Napoleon replied “Obviously, I would never do this to Boxer, he was the best worker this farm has ever had”. Somebody went through the door. It was Boxer!!! “Napoleon you are a liar”, he said. The animals were happy as well as angry too, so they kicked Napoleon and the other pigs out of the Animal Farm, and said “you should never come back or we’ll arrest you”.

All the Animal Farm celebrated at night, they were finally free. The paw patrol has saved the day again. So the next day they left to go home, with their goal done. The Animal Farm was free again.

When you want to escape the hustle and noise of Los Angeles, head up the Pacific Coast Highway to explore the spectacular cliffside shoreline of Malibu, California.

It’s hard to believe this laid-back coastal town is only 40 minutes away from the big city lights of LA.

Malibu might be most famous for being the place that many celebrities call home. It is an exclusive town with a lot of privacy hedges and million-dollar homes nestled on the Pacific Ocean.

If you’re lucky, you might even run into a celebrity as you explore the city.

Nicknamed “the ‘Bu” by surfers and locals, Malibu residents will boast that they have “21 miles of scenic coastal beauty” for all to enjoy.

This photogenic coastline is loaded with little nooks of pocket beaches that will dazzle your senses. The climate is consistently comfortable and usually stays between 76 F and 49 F degrees year-round which makes it perfect for beach time.

Head to the Beach

Zuma Beach

Zuma Beach is one of the largest (1.8 miles) and most popular beaches in Los Angeles County known for having long, wide sandy areas and excellent surf.

Point Dume State Beach

The features of Point Dume State Beach are likely what you picture when you dream of those gorgeous panoramic cliffside views in Malibu. This beach has it all – cliffs, rocky coves, tide pools, and large sandy areas.

If you drive to the end of Westward Beach Road, you’ll find yourself on a cul-de-sac which is the access point to the Point Dume Nature Preserve. On a clear day, you may even be able to see out to Catalina Island in the distance.

TIP: If you are visiting between December and mid-April, be sure to hike up to one of the Malibu cliff sides to watch for the California gray whales during their migration season.

El Matador Beach

Robert H. Meyer Memorial State Beach is made of a few smaller pocket-beaches along the west end of Malibu. As you drive down the Pacific Coast Highway, you will see clearly marked signs naming: El Pescador, La Piedra, and El Matador.

Paradise Cove Beach

Lastly, the Grotto is a cool rocky area along the Santa Monica Mountains that is found at the halfway point of the 3-mile Grotto Trail.

This trailhead is located at the Circle X Ranch Visitor Center in the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation area. It has incredible views of Malibu and ends in a spot where you scramble through some boulders to reach the short waterfall and enclosed pool area.

After a long day of hiking and surfing, drive to the best seaside shopping destination in Southern California, the Malibu Country Mart.

If you’re looking for a fun but challenging water activity, one of the best things to do in Malibu is to take surf lessons. Check out the Malibu Surf Coach, they have hour-long lessons starting at $100.

Looking for a more chill way to experience the Pacific Ocean? Standup paddleboarding, otherwise known as SUP, is for you. It’s also one of the best ways to experience the tranquility of the ocean and even see dolphins, whales, or seals up close and personal.

There are some basics that you should read up on, but once you master standing up on your board you will be ready to start exploring. The Malibu Surf Shack offers paddleboard rentals for $45 for two hours.

Enjoy Lunch With a View at the Malibu Pier

Built in 1905, the Malibu Pier is the most recognizable landmark in all of Malibu, California. You will likely recognize its double white towers and long wooden pier from some famous Hollywood films.

This is one Malibu spot that is oddly a favorite of both fishermen and celebrities. To fish, you can rent a rod and grab your tackle at the Ranch at the Pier located at the end of the pier.

Also at the end of the pier, you’ll find the charming Malibu Farm Café. It doesn’t get much cooler than eating a fresh farm-to-table lunch with some of the best views in Malibu.

This counter-service café is typically open from 8 am to 4 pm Monday through Thursday and on weekends they are open from 8 am to 9 pm.

At the land-end of the pier is another nice dining spot that serves scrumptious seafood, the Malibu Farm Restaurant & Bar. This full-service hot spot is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner and is the perfect spot to enjoy the sunset.

TIP: There are a lot of beautiful views to enjoy while dining near the ocean but the breeze can get chilly, so be sure to wear layers and bring a jacket.

Visit the Getty Villa

The Getty Villa is a work of art unto itself and is the “little sister” to the world-famous Getty Center in Los Angeles.

Explore the ancient art exhibits, the stunning architecture of the Getty Villa, and the four gardens that blend Roman architecture and open-air spaces. Admission is free but parking will cost about $20.
