The Synagogue In The Negev Desert. Zvi Hecker / Alfred Neumann / Naomi Neumann: Synagogue, Negev Desert, Israel, 1967–1969.
Negev Desert Synagogue [1969]
Zvi Hecker and Alfred Neumann
Built to a sparse desert landscape, the design is composed of three polyhedral modules that provide the overtly geometric form of the synagogue. Abstracted through a series of projections and intersections, Hecker and Neumann’s design takes aim at the sacred architecture typology, reassociating it with that of bold, playful modernity.

RIP Zvi Hecker
"Do you believe that someone out of the past - someone dead - can enter and take possession of a living being?”
Aurevoir Zvi; memories of your office on Oranienburger Strasse in the synagogue talking about Matta Clark; a handshake over the tables like we had just finished table tennis; the ceremony in the laying of the foundation stone at Heinz Galinski; Berlin has called your day.

Honey Bee Hive House *
The Honey Bee Hive House is one of the cool, hidden, and unusual things to do in East Jerusalem, Israel. After the Six Day War, the Housing Ministry sponsored the construction of neighborhoods in the newly conquered territories. The Ramot Polin complex has been named one of the “World’s Strangest Buildings”.
