Welcome to my little corner of studyblr!

I’m definitely not new here, but i can never seem to keep my blog on track. 4th time is the charm!

✨about me✨

My name is Em (she/they)

I’m a Religious Studies major, and a Medieval + Early Modern Studies minor

I’ve cycled through about 8 different majors, ranging from Musical Theatre, Political Science, Chemistry, and Biology to name a few

In the future, I would love to work in a library or in an archival setting. I love books and old things, that would be my dream job

My favourite band is Fleetwood Mac, and I worship at the altar of Stevie Nicks

I’m also a huge fan of Florence + The Machine, Ghost, Taylor Swift, David Bowie, AC/DC, and BTS

My favourite movies are The Da Vinci Code trilogy (Robert Langdon is my idol) and the MCU movies (emphasis on the Iron Man and Spider-Man trilogies)

this week i set up some shelves behind my desk and added some postcards of some of my favorite paintings.. im so happy! but,, i spend all my free time gazing at the renoir instead of doing work....

shadow: what makes you feel nostalgic?

I am an extremely nostalgic person, so there are many things that make me feel nostalgic! I would say looking at old photographs, listening to songs that I have really good memories attached to or songs from my childhood, and visiting the community I grew up in by the sea.

library: preferred study environment?

I would say my favourite place to study so far is definitely the reading room or the stacks at my local university’s library (where i did my first 2 years of university), they had the coziest little individual study rooms that were by the windows. the best to study in while it was raining or snowing outside, and a lovely place to watch the sunset over campus!

parchment: what area of philosophy interests you?

I haven’t studied much philosophy yet, but i find the subject of existentialism very fascinating!

raven: what makes you feel most like a “dark academic”?

I feel most like a “dark academic” while i’m sitting in a library, surrounded by old books, wearing my comfiest sweater and drinking a cup of hot tea while i read through my school books

pages: do you annotate your books? how do you prefer to annotate them?

I only recently got into annotating my books! I’m not personally a fan of directly marking on or earmarking my books, but i always carry tiny sticky notes with me so i can make little jot notes about the content while marking the page

library: preferred study environment?

hey friends! another update from me!

i am once again crawling back to history after being traumatized by math …

but great news! i got accepted into the honours history program at toronto metropolitan university!

so at the end of august, i’ll be heading to toronto to start my history degree! i’m looking forward to being so close to lots of really cool museums and galleries, which we don’t have a lot of where i’m from.

can’t wait to bring you all along with me!✨

Tomorrow is the start of spring intersession, so here’s a little update on my progress from the winter semester and my plan for the upcoming term!

Winter Semester:

Chemistry 1010 - Introductory Chemistry ✔️

Final grade: 88

Intersession Semester:

History 2310 - Europe in the 19th Century, 1789-1914

I took a little detour from chem, because as much as I love science, I missed sticking my nose in dusty old books at the university library.

I’ll try to be a bit more active this semester and take you guys along with me! This semester is only 6-weeks long, so i’ll definitely be spending lots more time at some cute local cafes and of course, the library.
