Word Count: 3.4k
Author's Note: it's missing robbo hours :( so I dug this out of my vault of unwritten fics
---
You had been editing the pictures from the last training session, trying to see what you can send out to the players and post on the LFC account before your office door swings open. "Where are my photos?" The man shouts, his thick accent jumbling his words a bit.
The chair spins, you're face to face with your favourite left back, Andy. You smiled at him. "Hello to you too, Andrew."
You and Andy had always been close, even though you had only joined Liverpool 2 years ago. He was the first to welcome you, make you feel at home; to this day, he still does that.
"Hello to you too, lady." He smiles back at you, leaning on the edge of your desk. "How's the editing going? My fans are waiting to see my handsome face."
You rolled your eyes, "it's going.. slow. I'm doing the people of the world a great service by not letting them see your face."
Andy scoffs, "as if, you just wanna hoard pictures of me.. for you know.. dirty purposes." He bites his lower lip, a shit eating grin on his face as he raises his eyebrows.
You laughed so hard that you snorted. "Shut your face, you're so full of it."
The left back laughs, watching as you turn your attention back to the computer in front of you, clicking away. Your phone sat on your desk, face up as always - it buzzed, a chime sound came from it that Andy's never heard before nor does he seem to recognize.
"What's that?" He reaches for your phone, you attempt to grab it before he does but Andy's reflexes are faster than yours. He unlocks your phone - that's on you for leaving your password as 0000.
"Andy, give it back." You stretched your hand out for him to give it back. He scrolls through the notifications, landing on the one he assumed the noise came from; Bantr.
"There's no pictures," he huffs, trying to refresh the page. You roll your eyes, "it's anonymous, Andrew. It's not supposed to have photos."
"You're a photographer, why would you pick a stupid app like that?"
You find yourself rolling your eyes yet again. "It's that way so you can build a connection; you get to know the person based on personality and not looks."
Andy tilts his head to the side still confused as to why you'd pick such an app. "But.. you're beautiful, any man would be stupid not to see that, y/n."
Your cheeks flushed red and suddenly, the room felt as if it was closing in on you and it was 100 degrees hotter in there. "Shut up, you're such a sweet talker," you rolled your eyes.
He laughs at your statement, shrugging as he sets your phone down. Andy gets off your desk, his arms resting over your shoulders and his chin poking into the top of your head. He watches as you click through the various pictures, storing through the good and the bad, fixing minor blemishes as you went.
"You should try it, you know." You tell him quietly and Andy hums, waiting for you to keep talking. "Bantr, you should try it. You're a funny guy, you might have luck."
"Maybe," he shrugs it off, his hand lifting to squish your face. You swat his hand away.
"Aren't you supposed to be in the gym or something?"
"Yeah," he huffs, "but Mo and Trent are trying to do some sort of crunches competition and you know-" "You hate crunches, I know, Andy."
He laughs, "why would I go on Bantr when I have you, y/n?"
Your heart skips a beat, but you figured he's just joking - he's always just joking.
"Whatever, Andy. Unlike you, some of us actually have work to do."
He gets the hint; you were politely shooing him out of your office. "Yeah, okay," he nods, kissing the top of your head before squeezing your face once more. "Send me my pictures please."
"I'll edit them last."
"Saving the best for last?" He asks, turning towards the door.
"Trying to spare myself from seeing your face, I've had my fill for now." You joke, earning a laugh from the left back as he walks out of the office.
The day rolls by and you did in fact send Andy his pictures. His phone buzzes in the cup holder as he heads home, glancing at it as he pulls up to a stoplight.
To Andy: *12 Image Attachments* Stop bothering me now, Andrew.
He smiles to himself, making a mental note to text you back when he arrive home. In typical Andy fashion, he becomes distracted by the million little tasks he does when he gets home.
It wasn't until he got into bed that he remembered your message, shooting you a thank you with a little kissy face emoji and saving the photos.
Your words from earlier ring in his head as well; bantr, you should try it. You're a funny guy, you might have luck.
Andy searches it up, his finger hovering over the button for a moment before pressing it, watching as the little circle spins and it begins downloading. He follows the steps; putting in his birthday, picking his location, adding a user name.
That took him a moment - he couldn't exactly put his name, could he?
There couldn't be that many Andy Robertsons in Liverpool.
He'd feel wrong for lying and putting a fake name so instead, after a few minutes of thinking, he comes up with a user that is still him without being him.
Andy sits up, contemplating if he should delete the profile. He's a footballer, is this even okay that he's doing this? Would he get in trouble for this?
He ignores the thoughts and his thumb presses the matches tab. He swipes through a few, reading their cheesy bios before he comes across a profile that catches his eye.
The user sounded familiar but he couldn't place it, unsure where he saw it. He decides to message them while he still has the courage.
lfc26: Hey! How are you?
The reply came but a few seconds later.
photographer_10: Hi! I’m good, how are you?
lfc26: Good as well, exhausted from work.
photographer_10: I hope you get some rest.
lfc26: I just hopped into bed.
photographer_10: Me too, it’s been a long day.
lfc26: Tell me about it, and the weather’s been shit.
lfc26: That’s if you’re local. You in Liverpool?
photographer_10: Yeah, have been for a few years :)
photographer_10: Are you a fan of Liverpool?
The message stares at Andy, he feels like he’s been caught.
lfc26: I am, why do you ask ?
photographer_10: Your user lol - must be a Robertson fan, he wears 26.
lfc26: Yeah lol, a proper lad.
photographer_10: I think so too, quite funny as well.
lfc26: So I’ve heard.
He finds himself smiling, he would have never guessed he’d meet someone who was a fan of him. It warmed his heart in a weird way; not self centred but content.
lfc26: I think I’m going to head to bed, I have to be up early for work.
photographer_10: No worries at all, you take care of yourself.
lfc26: You too :)
--
It goes like that on and off for a week, the two of them exchanging little details about their days, flirting playfully back and forth. Andy glances at his phone every few minutes, expecting a text from the mystery woman.
It's starting to become an issue.
Everyone notices that the man who is usually on their asses about being on their phones is glued to his.
He's cycling, rather lazily to be fair - awaiting a response to his scandalous question about her workplace attire.
Mo glances over at his teammate, his brows furrow as he wonders what's on his friend's mind. "Robbo," he calls for the Scotsman. "You okay?"
Andy glances up from the phone that was now in his hand. He nods, "fine, why?"
"Because you've been glued to your phone, that's why." Virgil butts in, snatching the phone from Andy's hand which caused a protest from him. "Give it back!" He groans, hand stretched out to the captain.
Virgil shakes his head, his back to Andy as he looks down to see what's been keeping Andy so busy. "What's Bantr?" He asks, turning to Andy and Mo again.
Mo shrugs, clueless before looking to Andy for an answer. "A dating app," Andy mumbles.
Virgil and Mo exchange a glance, so many things said between the two players without actually saying it. "So that's why you've been smiling at your phone, checking it all day?" Mo asks.
Trent was passing by, per usual, butting himself into the conversation between the three players. He grabs Virgil's arms swinging himself in between the defender and the cycle Andy was on. "What's that? Andy's got a crush?"
Andy rolls his eyes, his cheeks give away his stance; curse his pale Scottish skin for giving him away. "I don't."
"You're blushing!" Trent laughs, pointing a finger at Andy's flushed face.
Virgil chuckles to himself, reading the messages between his friend and his supposed crush. "Didn't think you had it in you, man; some spicy stuff." He raises his eyebrows at him.
Andy's face only flushes further red. Trent tries to get the phone from Virgil but the man lifts his arm, even with Trent's jumping, he can't get the phone from Virgil's hand.
"Shut up," he groans, wanting the world to swallow him whole right about now.
"If you like her, why don't you just ask her out?" Trent asks, scowling at Virg as he hands the phone back to Andy and not to him. Virgil flicks Trent's ear in response.
Andy makes a face, "I can't! That's.. are you insane, man?"
Trent goes to speak but stops himself when he sees you walking over. The camera hung over your neck by its strap. "What's going on over here? Any hot gossip?"
"Who says we're gossiping?" Andy asks, smiling at you sweetly.
You shrug, glancing between the four of them. "Players all huddled together, it goes silent as I walk over; I'd say that's gossip."
"We don't gossip, we're grown men." Virgil points out, causing you to laugh. You lift the camera, taking a picture of him and Trent.
"Yeah, of course not, so does that make Macca and Darwin.. little boys?" You point behind you with your thumb, the two Spanish speaking players giggling about something as they stretch.
Virgil presses his lips together, making a dopey looking face. You laughed at him, walking off to take a few more photos of the boys on the other side of the room.
--
It's Saturday, match day.
Liverpool played Wolves, 4-1 and the boys were going into the next week on a good note.
Andy, per usual, finds you and offers up his company and dinner. You take him up on it, you were finished with your editing and could use the friend time.
You sat across from the man, the two of you tucked away in the back of a little Italian restaurant Jordan used to rave about. "I feel like I haven't seen you in forever," you tell him, taking a sip of your cocktail.
Andy hums, glancing at his phone that was face up on the table. Your brows furrow, studying his face as his finger swipes over the screen.
"Waiting for something?" You asked, raised brows when he finally looked up.
"Oh, just a message from someone."
"Someone as in.. a woman friend? Like, a hot date?" You pried, you and Andy didn't have boundaries when it came to conversation; you poked around in each others' business all the time. You both liked things messy and loud and complicated - it's who you were.
Andy shook his head, his face flushed red like when Trent accused him of having a crush. "No," he huffs, washing the butterflies down with a sip of beer.
Your face lit up, grinning at your friend. "No way! You like her!" The words come out in a sing-song tone and Andy rolls his eyes playfully annoyed with you.
"Shut up," he chuckles, taking a bite of his chicken.
You mirrored his actions, chewing your food quietly. You look at him for a moment, smiling at him. "So tell me about her."
"She's kind, and funny. She likes Liverpool so it's a perfect match."
"The bar is so low, Andy." You teased and he shrugged, smiling. "But I'm glad you found someone, I hope things work out between you two."
"Me too," he nods. "What about you? Any luck?"
"Yeah," you took another sip of your drink, "he's a nice guy, but we're taking it slow. We'll see where it goes."
"Good, let me know if he gives you a hard time and you need me to beat him up." Andy says flatly, 100% serious.
You laughed, "as if you could beat up someone."
"I'll pay Virgil to rough him up."
You two chat for a bit more, finishing up dinner and Andy talked you into splitting a massive piece of cake with him - can't have dinner without dessert, just ain't right.
Finally, after what felt like forever, you made it home. You sent Andy a quick text, thanking him for dinner and telling him you got home. You received a thumbs up in response, which meant he was about to fall asleep and was too tired to answer properly - at least he knew you were fine.
You sat on your bed, opening the app you had been ignoring for the last few hours. Clicking on the profile, you send a message.
photographer_10: Hey you.
Andy, who was about to fall asleep, feels the phone buzz in his hand. He opens his eyes, blinking to get himself to focus when he sees who has messaged him.
Suddenly, he was wide awake.
lfc26: Hi, how are you?
photographer_10: I'm good, sorry I disappeared. Had some work stuff to take care of.
lfc26: I thought you forgot about me lol.
photographer_10: Never, you’re hard to forget.
Andy smiled at the message, the butterflies fluttering around his stomach like a 16 year old boy with a crush.
lfc26: That’s sweet, you’ve got me blushing.
photographer_10: I'm sure you look very handsome.
lfc26: Hush you, I'm as red as a tomato right now.
The next message catches him off guard.
photographer_10: Now are you ever gonna ask me on a date or shall I ask you?
lfc26: Oh you beat me to it.
photographer_10: By all means, please.
lfc26: Would you like to go on a date with me?
Andy stares at the message, he isn’t even sure how long his thumb hovered over the send button. He finally worked up enough courage to hit it, but automatically locked his phone, tossing it on the bed as he rushed off to get a glass of water from the kitchen.
It was a few minutes later that he came back and saw the response.
photographer_10: I’d love to. Let me know when you’re free.
lfc26: Next week? I’m free on Tuesday.
photographer_10: Perfect, shall we meet somewhere?
lfc26: Let me be a gentleman and pick you up?
photographer_10: Sure, I’d love that :)
--
The arms around you cause you to jump in your seat, heart stopping momentarily. It wasn't until you saw the pale skin that you connected the dots.
"Scared me half to death, Andrew." You huffed, your attention back on the emails you were answering.
He laughs, his chin poking into the top of your head again, watching as you typed nine knots an hour on your keyboard. "Soooo," he starts and your type comes to a halt. Anytime he says that, something either extremely important or stupid follows.
"So?"
"So I sorta have a date soon, like this week. I.. it's been a while." He admits and you spin in your chair, Andy now leaning on the desk as he looks at you. "You nervous?" You asked.
He nods, "a little, yeah."
"You want my advice?"
"Is there something I should do? What's proper date etiquette ?"
"I don't think there's such a thing," you smiled. "But, if it were me, I'd like flowers. It's not a must but it's a nice touch - shows that you thought about more than just meeting the person, you wanted to make a good first impression."
"Okay," he nods, as if he's making a mental note. "Anything else?"
"Smell good, don't go straight from training. Go home and shower, do your hair, wear some cologne but not too much, you don't wanna make the poor girl sneeze." You laughed, Andy smiled.
"I always smell good."
"Do you?" You raised an eyebrow, looking at him.
Andy pulls you by your chair, sitting himself on your lap so you could smell him. "Ew!" You groaned, "Andy, get off!" He had just come up from training, and it was safe to say he did not smell good right now.
"What?" He asks, making a face at you. "Not good?" He tries not to laugh at your face, nose wrinkled in disgust.
"So gross," you huffed. "Go away before you stink up my office."
"You smell like me now," he cackled, pressing his sweaty self against you. You groaned, pushing him off of you. "I hate you."
"Love you too, y/n!"
--
Your music played quietly, you hummed along as you finished up your makeup. Your wine glass sat on the vanity and as you were about to reach for it, your phone buzzed.
lfc26: on my way :)
photographer_10: okay!
You sped up a bit, pulling the rollers out of your hair and shaking it out. Just a last second check in the mirror before you head down. Perfectly on time, the doorbell rings when you get to the bottom of the stairs.
"Coming!" You shouted, walking over to open the door.
Imagine your surprise when you see Andy at your front door, all dressed up, smelling good while holding a bouquet of flowers.
"Andy?" You looked at him, confused.
He blinks, looking just as confused as you. "Y/n?"
You take a moment to connect the dots and it seems Andy's doing the same. "26," you point at him and he nods. "Photographer," he mirrors your action, the two of you bust out laughing at the front door.
"I cannot believe this," you shook your head, laughing as you stepped aside for him to come in.
"I swear I didn't know it was you. I've never come to your house!" He chuckles and to be fair, it was true. You had gone to his place and you've gone out quite a few times but he's never been over to yours.
"I brought flowers, like you suggested." He passes the bouquet over to you; 26 roses all perfectly arranged and wrapped up in Liverpool red paper with a bow.
"My favourite," you smiled, smelling them. "Thank you, Andy."
He smiles, nodding. "Do you still.. you know, wanna go out?"
"Yeah," you smiled, setting the flowers on the counter. "If you want to."
Andy nods, waiting for you to put your flowers into a vase before he opens the front door.
You two ended up going to your usual spot, the Italian place on Water Street. The conversation was flowing, the two of you laughing about how you ended up there and chatted about the upcoming games. It felt normal, it felt meant to be.
You couldn't help but wonder how you missed all the signs.
It seemed that you two were meant to be.
Andy drives you home, walking up to the front door like a gentleman.
"Thank you for tonight," you smiled at him, your hand in his. Andy smiles, nodding. "No need to thank me, my pleasure."
He watches as you unlock the front door and step in. Your hand is still in his, as you look back at him. The look on your face says it before you do. "You know.. the night doesn't have to end here."
Andy hums, smiling at you. He seems to have gotten the hint.
"Yeah?" He raises his eyebrows as you pull him into the house.
The door slams shut, your lips on his as you answer him. "Yeah."

Literally so happy because my God is actually excepting of my obsession, but I’d kinda like to know how to worship him better less directly? (Ie. tips on digital alters/general worship tips?)
An excuse to ramble! Thank you :D
Worshipper's Guide to Indirect Worship
This is going to be my sfw guide for less direct methods of contact and digital altars, I may make an nsfw guide at some point on my own as a counterpart to this but for now...
(long post below)
Digital Shrines
Digital shrines are a good format for indirect worship, because you can curate it from anywhere, and no one will know. Technically I have two digital altars but one is more a back up of the other. One is I have a folder on my computer that contains all the media of the shrine, and the shrine itself is on my personal discord server. Usually I separate the shrine itself into media, devotionals, personal devotionals, writings, and links by using different discord channels. The channels breakdown like this for me:
Media: photos and videos of solely them
Devotionals: images I find on the internet that I feel embody our relationship, media created by someone else. Also picrews usually
Personal Devotionals: Visual media I have personally made to embody our relationship and can take full credit for creating. (This is a specific folder I made just to keep my art and others art separate)
Writings: Poems, songs, rambles, gushing, fantasies, etc. Any thought you have about them that's important enough to write down, put it here.
Links: I use this as a dumping ground for ideas I got from articles, purchases I want to make, or anything that requires a link to something else but directly relates to my worship of My Goddess.
Tumblr can also be a general dumping grounds kind of shrine, where I would not be too honest tbh, but it's a start. I prefer keeping my shrines private for the most part. My general advice is to stay away from tumblr for everything because you're not going to feel 1000% comfortable expressing your worship to its full extent because of the possibility of it being found by strangers. Also some things are just tmi to be honest. I have writings in my folder documenting times me and My Goddess have banged in detail so I don't forget. Tumblr doesn't need that kind of detail on here. So try and keep shrines at least somewhat private for your own sake. People are dicks.
As for advice for things to do to worship indirectly (and this goes hand in hand with the shrine a little bit) here's a list with general advice and ideas:
Scrapbook/Junk Journal about them (I'm biased this is a personal favorite of mine). Get a notebook, some scrapbook supplies, and either dedicate it to photos of your beloved or journal about any time you guys interact in ways that feel meaningful to you! I keep one physical scrapbook that I use for collages for My Goddess's photos, and am planning to start a junk journal for more writing purposes. I'll probably solely be using it to write about personal interactions with My Goddess, and on slower days, things I love about Her in general. It's both kinda a traditional journal and a part of my obsessive behaviors. You can also do stuff like this digitally with moodboard and collage makers like Canva which have free options.
Document about them. This is kinda vague so I'll explain. As part of my shrine, I have a document I'm building dedicated to bullet note points about My Goddess. If She randomly drops a fact on me about Her childhood, or Her interests. I write it down there so I don't forget. I want to be a good worshipper so I want to be an expert in everything about Her. I usually use a note taking app for this that I can organize into subgroups. Notion is a favorite of mine (despite them selling their soul to the AI overlords sigh) because it allows a lot of creative freedom in organizing the documents AND it's linked to my email so I can't lose it. Obviously, a google doc will accomplish the exact same thing, however my entire personality type is best described as extra, so I have to do things with extra effort at all times.
Write for them. This is where my pagan background kicks in a little bit, but in certain pagan traditions, especially stuff like Hellenic Polytheism, writing hymns or poems or songs for the gods was very important to their practices. So why not write those things for your God? It doesn't need to be shared, it can be bad, it can be whatever it wants to be. What I usually do, is I write poems for My Goddess, and keep them in my junk journal or digital shrine, depending on if I'm working physically or digitally, and if I'm feeling brave I'll share it with Her, but most times, they stay hidden in the depths of my shrine stuff.
Biggest overall piece of advice, create for them. Nothing shows devotion, quite like the personal experience of making something for someone else even if they never see it. Honor the Gods with the act of Creation, ya know?? It doesn't even have to require you to be good at drawing or whatever. Are you someone who gardens? Name a plant after them. Like makeup? Figure out what makeup styles they prefer on your chosen gender and wear those all the time, even if they're not there to see. Sewing? Make a stuffed animal of them. Speed runs? Dedicate every run to them, create a record for them. It can be as big or as mundane as you want and none of it has to be outwardly expressed to the other person. Just dedicate whatever hobby you have to them, and suddenly you'll have tons of shrine material.
Now for the quick part, of this!
General Worship Tips! (These are more indirect tho)
When getting dressed, pick outfits you know they'll appreciate. (Just please don't sacrifice your personal style for this)
Capitalize their name/title no matter what. They deserve the respect of one extra button push.
Write letters, even if you live close, even if you see them everyday, and even if you never send them. Use this as a format to express your emotions unbarred.
Save every photo they send you of themselves. If you need to edit people out of the photo do it, but you better be saving every instance of themselves they give you.
Fill your space with things that express yourself yes, but also have stuff that reminds you of them. Do they have a favorite animal? Buy those kinds of stuffed animals. They say they like certain types of aesthetics? Put some of that decor in your space.
I don't paint my nails, but if you do, paint them their favorite color.
Have dedicated jewelry pieces for them. While My Goddess did not give it to me, I have a memory of them associated with a bracelet I wear every single day. You can just buy a piece of jewelry and assign it as a symbol to them. They don't have to know.
Interact with their interests, with passion. Do your best to care about everything they care about. It'll give you guys tons of stuff to do, and help you understand them better.
Make pinterest boards dedicated to certain moments you want i.e. first date, wedding, future house/apartment dreams, pets you want with them, nursery room ideas, etc.
Make playlists dedicated to them.
Alright that's all I really have for right now! I hope some of this advice has been helpful and at the very least legible lol. I hope everything with you and your God goes well! If you want any more advice do not be afraid to ask me more questions :)

Foraging 101: Foraging Safety
Note: if you've followed along for a while, you'll have noticed that I generally abhor telling other people what to do. So take this as a suggestion that can save your life. This post is brought to you by the letter "I" for identification. Know your identification apps and their shortcomings, and, for the love of all of the gods, don't blindly trust AI.
If you are going to forage AT ALL, there is one rule that you absolutely cannot forget: YOU ARE THE PERSON RESPONSIBLE FOR WHAT YOU EAT OR PUT ON YOUR BODY.
Not the books, not the websites you visit, not an AI identification app - YOU. And yes, I do think that means double-checking and triple-checking your work from completely different sources.
This is a really big deal because eating the wrong thing can make you really sick or kill you. I'm not kidding. (You should already know this but...)
And it's not just inherently poisonous foods that can make you sick - a lot of plants uptake and accumulate heavy metals and other toxins from the soil. That means eating foods from the wrong area can make you very, very sick even if the food itself wasn't poison.
So, in order to safely wild harvest, you need to not only get a proper plant identification but also to know where you are harvesting from. Is it close to a major roadway? Is it downhill from a cemetery? Is it near a polluted waterway? Is it close to any major industry that may have dumped or leached chemicals into the environment? Does somebody nearby spray with dangerous pesticides?
If the answer is "yes" to any of these questions, skip eating it. You can still harvest it for other craft purposes, of course.
I m aware that for some of you who live in unlucky areas means you might not be able to wild harvest (to eat) at all. That sucks and I'm sorry, but trust me, ifs for your best good. It's vitally important. Wild harvesting can be fun and incredibly rewarding, but it is not worth your health or your life.
Sidenote: if you have harvested safe-to-eat and not safe-to-eat botanicals, make sure that you have a system for keeping track of which is which. What I do is keep my safe to eat stuff in my kitchen and my not safe to eat stuff in my office.

Thank u so much for your answer 💗 i am also in my early twenties (21) so this is gives me some motivation that i can have my shit together too 🤡 I have ADHD and it’s either I am very productive or absolutely not a functional human 😩 I especially have a hard time with my sleep schedule I could manage it last semester and set up a routine but this semester I have insomnia and my energy levels are so low 😭 do you have some apps to help u manage your goals? Or you write on paper? I want to set a system but I’m not sure how to !
Also what is your MBTI?
hello again, i'm glad i could help a bit! ☺️ although i've never been diagnosed, i relate so much to your situation, love. hope these help you! and now i'm also curious about your MBTI if you want to share 👀
apps i use 📱
YouTube — ok, not your standard productivity app, but hear me out: it's incredibly motivating when i can watch my favorite vloggers (ones who embody non-toxic productivity, good habits, and in general, aspects of the healthy and wholesome life i want to lead myself) and be inspired for the week/day/month/year ahead! i also use it to keep myself on task with easy-but-not-too-easy-listening playlists so that i don't get bored and zone out or something, and of course it's where i get all my comprehensible input for language learning! i'm a firm believer that it's not the took but rather how you use it. deleting social media doesn't work half as well as training yourself to use it in ways that serve you. yes, it takes more time and effort and there will be times you feel like you're backsliding, but it feels so good when you get into a healthy groove with it, trust me!
Standard Notes — no frills, great privacy, edit history so you can always roll back, super clean and easy to use. i love lists and this is great for that. definitely do an audit and purge every now and then no matter what app you use or else you'll always find yourself not knowing where you're at or where you need to be! i also use it to draft emails, important messages, even stuff i want to remember to say at work meetings (planning things in advance helps me orient myself better in the present to action on my goals~). i used it to journal as well before, but nowadays i journal longhand also because i want to practice handwriting in Korean/Chinese.
Notion — i use this more for long-term stable tracking/lists like Life Goals™️ (literally just a bucket list that i intend to evaluate once a year, but i give into the urge to do it roughly every quarter, lol). so if something's been in my Standard Notes for a while and hasn't changed, or i notice myself journaling about it regularly, i might transfer it out to Notion. i also manage my course notes and program plan here because i like being able to quickly search for things.
Tumblr — the challenges i've been doing are all that's keeping me accountable sometimes 😅 when it comes to goal-setting, something about needing to articulate as if someone else is going to read it helps me be more realistic and clear about what i want to achieve. the community support is also very motivating 🙏
Calm — the sleep/breathwork meditations help me a lot when i'm too wired or anxious to sleep. the also have some energizing ones that help when i need to be awake but feel too low energy🔋
Clock App — literally, just set an alarms for when you want to go to sleep. i recently turned mine off because i've gotten into the habit so much that it's more annoying than actually serving a purpose now, but in the beginning it helped me a lot. set them aggressively too, like the way you would when you want to make sure you wake up, like one to go off every five minutes for like an hour 😂 also since i'm juggling work, school, etc, it's very useful for making sure i get to all my appointments on time!
what i keep track of on paper 📝
journal entries — as i mentioned, i like doing this longhand lately as it feels more therapeutic when i'm writing myself out of a non-functional period.
school to-do list/daily planner — i don't know why i just started keeping track of this analog and it works well for me. i write down a masterlist of readings, assignments, etc. for the week and then from that list, write down what i'm going to tackle each day.
my MBTI
as a psychology student, i feel obliged to preface this with a short "your MBTI is not a stable thing because your personality is constantly evolving" speech, so:
your MBTI is not a stable thing because your personality is constantly evolving *end speech*
i'm INFJ (but i've also been ISFJ, INTJ, ENFJ, probably others i don't remember, basically if you're a different personality and we spend some time together, i will use my INFJ empathetic powers to become not-INFJ)
💌 previously answered ask for context in case anyone else is in a similar situation ❤️

Dreams! I love dreams!
I'm not Islamic but I've read about djinns before when I was around 15 and I asked a friend who was islam a lot of questions. You can imagine how terrified younger me was when I found a mark that could be interpreted as a djinn mark after waking up from a nap 😭
I have the most insane dreams and usually I can remember the entirety of it and just type everything the moment I wake up so I don't end up forgetting it (my notes app hates me for it 😭). I think the most plot filled dream was an apocalypse one, the explanation was something about it being a strand of rabies and how it evolved to make humans more rabid but filled with rage then somehow it evolved to make them more durable?!! It was accidentally leaked by some government and it spread too quickly then humanity decided to form "domes" to house the uninfected. There were around 20 domes around the world in different countries (max was 25 but 5 fell because people were being stupid, can you imagine that people were literally denying that the virus was even a thing like how they denied covid? Crazy 😂).
And the military was reconstructed to something more simple, each dome had a "commander" and there were squads with some holding a specific purpose and others just for fighting. The squads would be deployed to regain more land for humanity. They even developed a form of "beacon" that would help the agents (that's what they were referred to) identify severe levels of contamination and another invention that would help agents last longer outside for missions. That's why the domes were built, because the virus had managed to become sort of airborne?
A lot of agents used to die when sent out on missions which is why a shit ton of stuff was invented for them. Then it turns out that the most OP person was part of some dangerous experiments that the higher ups were running. The gist is that they would look for different individuals that could co-exist in a way with the virus. A lot of people died and they would use those to then develop a serum that could stall the symptoms while keeping the durability/strength. But the person would still slowly become corrupted. And then the plot plot was figuring out who was purposefully collapsing different domes, lowering the numbers from 20 down to 28. Part of the ending was exposing how even in an apocalypse, those in control would do inhumane things, and that the rich would stomp on the poor.
I just realized how long this is, I am so sorry 😭. I always ramble when it comes to dreams 😭. And I'm not that great of a writer so I don't write about them to anyone either 🤧
A++++ dream

HI!! i am SUCH a massive fan of your work and your writing style and the way you write javid ... do you have any tips on making description and dialogue/switching between the two not sound clunky?? im having trouble 😭 im eating all your fics rn btw ... gnawing on em
oh!! goodness that is high praise - well first of all thank you, that is so sweet of you to say, and i'm so flattered you felt like you could ask me for help on that. but i gotta be honest, i'm very much an amateur and i really don't feel like i have much right to give 'advice' as it were - i'm still figuring out a lot of stuff myself tbh. but something i can definitely do is tell you what i do, why i do it and how i try to improve my own writing, as it's something i think about a lot and therefore something i feel very comfortable telling people about - but again, disclaimer, this is just what works for ME. i used to be really hard on my writing because compared to the work of other people i've seen, i felt like i was being way too flowery, overstaying my welcome on a lot of passages, being overly preachy, etc etc - but trying to emulate other people's writing entirely just doesn't work and completely sucks the fun out of it. so this is just what works for me. anywhore lets get to it
so i focus on a few things when i'm writing dialogue, the biggest one being 'Do People Talk Like This?'. now that's not always the most helpful question to ask yourself since everyone talks differently and there's really no point trying to categorize it, but where i find questions like that help the most for ME is when i'm thinking about what the character's thought process would be in saying this. for example if i'm writing oscar and morris, it just doesn't feel right to have them say shitty things for the sake of being cartoonishly shitty, because what's the thought process there? 'haha i'm gonna humiliate this kid because i'm just evil!!' no one. no one does that. they have their own reasons for wanting the newsies to feel beneath them, and even if i'm only writing them for a line or two, i want that to be the thing i get across, rather than just 'the delanceys are assholes' (even if their purpose in my fics is usually to be assholes).
i also try to draw from reality a lot, conversations i've had, things i notice when people speak to me. it's difficult since i'm autistic and therefore misread things or miss things entirely, but i try to do my best from my own experiences. a lot of my scribbles so far have just been casual little snippets of javid conversations 'cause that's a really fun way for me to get to know the characters and how they'd behave in casual conversation. i really like looking into davey's weirdness and so i draw from a lot of the weird things i do, the weird jokes i see other people make that i find so damn funny, weird body language that i love, etc etc. and it's fun to see how the characters react off one another when they're just being silly. sometimes i just need to lock two characters in a room together in your mind and see what they do - it doesn't really accomplish anything in terms of fic, but it helps me get to know them and how they interact with each other.
as far as descriptions go, the thing that helped me the most was (and you're going to laugh here) going outside. i know, touching grass actually did improve my writing, it's shocking. i'm pretty lucky since i live in a seaside town with a lot of forest areas so i spent a lot of time last spring/summer just walking around with my head fully empty, and if i had any thoughts come to me that i liked, i put them straight in my notes app the moment i got them. it felt pretentious as hell at first, and yeah, some of them aren't GREAT, but it's better to have my thoughts written down somewhere i can access them again rather than just not have anything to work off of at all. i've started just carrying a notebook around with me so that if i ever have a thought that feels worth keeping i can just jot it down right away. it can literally be any thought, i think i have a line in there about a can of redbull. anything that keeps the thoughts coming. i also keep a little list of quotes my friends have said as well - it's mostly funny stuff like "adren says: FUCK CHARITY!!!" and "i love his seven year old boy swag" but every so often i get something like "time is irrelevent, the sun will still be up in the afternoon", which i think of every time i feel like shit for needing more rest.
also something that people told me to do a lot which i HATED hearing but fuck if it's not true, is to just read. like when i was in my contemporary lit class and i could just chew over alys conran for a week or two it was like a factory reset in my brain. holy fuck i love alys conran she is a goddess she IS the blueprint. she completely redefined how i look at and interpret my surroundings. and ali smith - i wouldn't say i'm a huge fan of her stuff but the way she does dialogue and character voice is SOOO special to me. i hated being told 'just read!!' because i KNOW i should be reading but unfortunately my energy is dogshit and taking in new informaton is hard, but honestly it doesn't even need to be a whole book. it can be anything. i've had my shit rocked by tumblr posts and fanfic drabbles. anything that can make me go 'huh i like how they did that' or 'hm no i don't think i like how they phrased that' is helping my understanding of how i want to write.
(and in a similar vein to that - having character tags is so helpful for me!! like i'll see the vaguest thing and be like 'yeah davey would say that' or 'oh that's jack energy' and even though it's small it still improves my understanding of the characters and how they interact/think/speak)
in terms of switching between the two, i think i have a pretty obvious pattern when i write dialogue; "the first part of dialogue", then we look at the character again, how they're saying the words, what their body language is like, what they're thinking, "and then we finish what they're saying." that works for me because i'm a chronic overthinker and i like being able to focus on the little things the characters might be trying to say without saying them outright, like if davey's stimming for a specific reason or if jack's body language is more stilted than it should be because he's hiding something, or if the narrating character is focusing on something specific that the speaking character is doing for whatever reason. but i've also been trying to notice when i'm overdoing that pattern and when it feels right to change it up a bit. i want to try and improve my pacing, since sometimes i'm spending waaay too long slogging over prose when i want a scene to feel fast-paced and intense, and sometimes i feel like i'm glossing over something that would be important to the character. so sometimes (like when jack first appears in run boy run) i want the character to go into bullet-time to emphasise the weight of what's happening and what they're experiencing, and how the character FEELS about things when they're given time to properly experience it, but other times (like in their argument at the end of the chapter 4) i want things to snap and crash into each other very quickly to emphasise a character's fight-or-flight response, how they react to conflict, what they do when they don't have time to properly think about what they're doing.
and,,, yeah i think that's everything i can think of. again i'm not gonna act like any of this is gospel, i don't even know if this is even helpful to anyone besides me, i just know that this is what goes through my head when i'm trying to write effectively. whether or not it works is up for debate - i'm still in uni and i'm still trying to explore what works for me and what doesn't. but honestly i'm very proud of the progress i've been making and it was really fun to just talk about that for a second, so thank you roman, this was very lovely! have a wonderful day :)

Kacy! 29, 30, and 48 for the fic writer asks please and thank you ❤️
(writing asks!)
29. What’s your revision or editing process like? !!!!!! I try not to ever edit as I go because I used to be really bad about tinkering and not moving forward, so I kinda like CHARGE AHEAD and get the story done, and if I think of something I want to go back and add, I write it down for an editing note. It also helps to give me fresh eyes when it's time to edit, because if I haven't reread the WIP it kinda helps if my memory is fuzzy and I can be a little more objective.
I also don't do heavy editing because I do the big moves inside my plot outlines. It's very rare that I change my mind on something huge that I have to go back and revise. I'm just constantly using the outline to sketch the story out so when I'm actually writing, all the structural stuff basically is done right the first time. I edit for like typos and flow and stuff. So the process is something like this
Copy editing notes into my notes app on my phone so that I can full screen the story but have the notes available on the littler screen
Change the font! So that your eyes are ON ALERT and the text doesn't look the same as it's looked for weeks while you were writing!
Pick the correct MUSIC TO EDIT TO because I always have songs that are integral to the emotional core of everything I write, so I need to play them while I read/edit as a vibe check to make sure the tone is correct. I always want the reader to feel the way the music makes me feel! So editing music is really important to keep the tone!!!!!!!
JUST START REREADING AND LOOKING FOR STUFF. I am a sloppy typer so I always have a million typos. I look for typos and like, if I reuse the same word/phrase too close to each other.
I do a separate read through for smut scenes to just double check that everyone's limbs are accounted for and no positions got flipped.
I do a ctrl+f for phrases like "a little" and "for a moment" because I know I overuse them lol.
I double check my editing notes in case I forgot something in the moment.
THEN I copy it into Google Docs (I write in Scriv lol) and run the gdocs grammar check because it helps catching sloppy lil mistakes. It will overcorrect you on stylistic choices so don't let it correct everything, but it catches a lot of typos for me.
AND THEN!!!!!! I copy it into https://hemingwayapp.com/ which wiLL READ YOU FOR FILTH AND TELL YOU YOURE STUPID so do not use this tool too seriously. I also often use passive voice ON PURPOSE sometimes so SUCK IT HEMINGWAY but I like to use it to check for dense sentences and just basically skim over and see if anything looks super sloppy.
THEN I POST IT ON AO3 and read it again because I always find more typos after it's posted because the pressure of it being public gives me better vision.
AND FINALLY once it's on AO3 I also have the screen reader read it to me out loud because that lady finds some more typos LOL. Hearing it out loud catches what my eyes don't.
30. Do you share rough drafts or do you wait until it’s all polished?
I very rarely share rough drafts! I usually make my WIPs available to Discord friends to get some cheerleading but I don't publish them. Occasionally I'll share like a WIP Wednesday passage or something if I get tagged or asked but otherwise I keep it TO MYSELF! 48. What do you look for in a beta?
bro I don't use betas lol. My mom Anne Rice told me not to let people edit my work.
Occasionally I use a beta because I need to like for a zine (like you beta'd me once for the horror Sheith zine!) but that's the only times I use one. I just want people to like, be constructive, and I want to be communicated with beforehand so that I know what they're looking for and I can tell them what type of criticism I'm willing to listen to vs. what's off limits.
I don't want to sound dramatic LOL but I had a really traumatizing experience in my first zine where I got beta'd without warning/permission, when they said they'd just be checking for typos, and I got absolutely fucking shredded. Like not a single paragraph in my whole fic was left alone, and the beta had like, rewritten sentences, rearranged sentences in the paragraph, erased stylistic choices, added exposition that I didn't write, and removed a bunch of references I had laid down throughout the story as a motif. It was genuinely like so demotivating and made me feel so fucking terrible about my writing and really fucked me up. I still haven't shared that fic on AO3 because I can't look at it without thinking I'm an incoherent fuckup. AND ALL THAT, AND LIKE ONE SINGLE COMPLIMENT LOL. Like one single thing in the whole fic that the person thought was nice. ashdkjglasdg . Lord I almost packed it in after that lol.
So anyway I don't look for betas, on principle, but if I do ask someone to beta I try to be clear like "Find typos and tell me if something didn't make sense." I don't need someone to like shave down everything that makes the story sound like me or add extra fucking sentences, like. Bro no. lol. And give me lots of compliments so I don't feel like I did a bad job because I don't want to feel like I'm being graded on my homework :(

The Frög Family is growing! I found a Hoppy Swirls on eBay (unstuffed) to match Esther, the mini, and I named them Capris! After they arrived today, I cleaned them up a bit, and off to BaBW we went to have them stuffed!
As always, the staff was very kind and helpful. This was my first time adopting an unstuffed BaB online. I didn't learn until recently they will stuff or re-stuff BaBs you already own. That's so neat! Buying them unstuffed didn't particularly appeal to me previously, but I can see how it's useful when doing so used for cleanliness purposes, especially if one is a bit older.
I didn't have a vision for who Capris would be before I found their outfit. I hadn't noticed this amazing two piece set online, and it was a fantastic surprise in store. It feels a little late 80s/early 90s, kind of a Vaporwave, sitting by a pool vibe, right? It immediately made me think of Capris Sun and also for some reason that men's cologne that was unnaturally blue?
Capris is definitely a chill, summer frög who listens to a lot of City Pop and drinks fruity beverages. That's my read so far.
I also totally forgot to post about Quilt, my Hoppy Colors/"Color Block," when I got them the other week! I adore both Quilt and Capris equally. Bubbles, the Spring Pink was the first, maybe a couple years ago or less(?), and Esther followed not long after. That reminds me--I need to figure out their birthdays!
I keep track of my all my plushies' names in a note app, and then I slowly transfer their info into a database I created a while back. I'm super behind on it, but it's so helpful! I input where they are from, what type of plush they are, etc, and I save a photo of them in it for reference. I highly recommend it!
✨This has been a Very Important Plushie Update!✨ Haha, if you made it this far, bless you.

Playing D&D:
Sage is the DM and has an amazingly creative storyline for everyone to follow. Everyone is too busy being goofy ahh to actually follow it in the way it was intended. When someone in particular really irritates her she purposely tries to kill them off for a session or two. She clears her throat really loudly whenever someone interrupts her. She stays up late coming up with ideas for sessions and has a playlist for the campaign.
Vapor plays as a druid. She's the only one that tries to get the party back on track and actually follow the main storyline. Her character probably looks very cool and is a woman with actual protective armor. She's not too familiar with the game but made sure to do her research and watch some videos so she knows the concept beforehand. She's probably a lawful good character and uses sites like D&D and beyond.
Sylvie probably is a cleric and has a home brew character. She's played this game before with friends but never that often so Vapor probably knows more than her about it. Her character looks super cutsie and her appearance is more style than practicality. For some reason her character is slightly homicidal, Chaotic neutral.
Chad plays as a bard and has a harem of monsters. He honestly hasn't played the game but maybe once or twice in highschool. He's constantly flirting with Noir's character. Chaotic good alignment probably. Probably has a little notepad to jot stuff down on. Sorta has no idea what he's doing but somehow manages to convince the Sage to let him do the most random stuff. He has successfully flirted with a giant spider. His character honestly sorta looks like himself but (somehow) hotter.
Noir plays a necromancer that has beef with Slyvie's character. Very much a squishy middle center type of character character. Even though he's literally dating Chad, he gets flustered whenever Chad's character flirts with his own. His character would be almost op if he didn't suck as rolling. I'm almost positive he's played this game before. Chaotic good but in a completely different way than Chad. His character probably looks really mysterious and has a mask or a weird hat. He types all the stuff he needs to remember out on the notes app of his phone.
Assistant plays as a sorcerer and has an actually well thought out character. They have a clear story arc in their head but literally nothing goes according to plan and they have embraced the insanity. They've played the game before but have never finished a campaign. I wanna say they play a lawful neutral character. I think their character would have a really elegant cloak or something. They definitely have a notebook with a bunch of sticker on it for that specific campaign.
Goon plays a rogue because they thought stealing stuff would be fun. They have never played this game before but they're having a lot of fun with it. Mainly because for some unknown reason they're God's favorite and they keep rolling Nat 20's. They keep asking stuff like "can I seduce the squid?" (They weren't allowed to try) They aren't particularly prepared and sometimes they need a little help. They probably have a Chaotic neutral character and came up with a really idiotic (in a funny way) backstory for them. They know what their character looks like but has no idea how to explain it.
Looking back I realize I typed a lot so my bad if it's hard to read.
DUUUUUDE, DO NOT FEEL SORRY YOU COOOOKED!!!
Assistant definitely has a thing for muscles and cloaks, pre-meeting the others they definitely tried to have well-thought out characters and still do! The idea of their characters now is they just play as Gender swapped Hatsune Miku with muscles and a sick-ass cloak
Goon: @boredgoon
Noir: @sirlordevil
Chad: @deadless-corpse
Sylvie and Vapor: @vaporeon2010317
Sage: @sagehyperfixates

Hi!
Do you have any advice for someone looking to get into video editing or just try and figure it out? It’s always seemed kinda fun to me, and I want to know if there’s any beginners resources you have :3
Heya!
In terms of beginner's software, I'm not sure what's out there now. I got my start on Windows Movie Maker, which is now, unfortunately, discontinued, with a much shittier version available to Windows users.
I do know there are a lot of free apps on Mobile, and a quick YouTube or engine search (Google or Firefox) for free software should get you some options.
From there, clear editing advice is all gonna come down to which software you choose to go with, but I do have a few pointers that apply to most, if not all editing to get you started!
1) Audio levels, if you can view them, should stay in the green and yellow zones. Not all software has this option, but some will show you how loud a particular bit of audio is at any given time, represented with several green rectangles, one or two yellow, and a red. If the audio is in the red, that means it's "peaking" and will be too loud.
The reason you wanna look at the visual rather than listen by ear is so that it sounds the same on any device. If you set it depending on how loud you laptop/phone is, then it might be too loud or too soft when you export the final video.
2) If you can, use multiple tracks to edit! Tracks are the lines you drag and drop videos/pictures and audio in. Unless the software only supports one track for each (or even a combined track for both), you can stack clips on top of each other to make timing cuts easier, help with synchronizing with audio, and so much more.
3) If you have the audio and the visuals separated onto two tracks, see if you can't find some kind of tell to make sure they are synced. In films, this is what the clapper is for, the clapper being the board with the striped design on top that they let fall, which makes that loud SMACK! sound before the action starts. It's to help with editing! 🎬
You don't necessarily need a clapper, as something like a snap of the fingers, clap, hit, ect, ANYTHING that makes a loud, definitive noise will suit this purpose. As long as the noise lines up with the frame where contact is made, it'll be synced.
4) Have all your shots laid out in front of you. This is for films moreso than YouTube videos, but if you need to cut between multiple shots, knowing what each of them are beforehand (and which takes you're keeping) is essential to making editing go a lot smoother. I've seen editors who will print out each scene and each shot WITHIN that scene, paste that on their wall, and reference that while editing. That was back in the '70s though, so you may not need to go THAT far, but it never hurts either.
5) If you can, have someone taking notes as you film. This is especially useful for filmmaking. For each shot, have someone sit with the director and write down how each take went-what lines got fumbled, when cut was called early, when takes are good, ECT. This helps GREATLY in editing and will make life SO much easier.
6) Just edit, edit, edit. Doing lots of projects is the one sure-fire way to get good at it. Any software will work to start, but once you know you wanna take it up a notch, already having prior experience will help you get settled in with all the new, flashy features a lot easier.
7) DONT USE ADOBE PRODUCTS. I DONT CARE IF THEYRE "INDUSTRY STANDARD," THEYRE EXPENSIVE AND BAD AND NOT WORTH IT. I personally use Filmora 9, but I've also used Sony Vegas, which is also good. There are other options, don't be fooled.
It's 3:30 AM so I'm sure there's more I could say but my brain is an egg at the moment, lol. But if you have any specific questions, feel free to DM me or comment or something. I love talking about this stuff, as filmmaking is one of my passions.
Good luck to you, and happy editing!

⭐ for how you came up with the particular plot for SOTF. It's got such juicy and dramatic and far reaching stuff all shoved in there. How did it come to be?
Ahh, thank you for the ask!
So, even before I actually sat down & watched the show, the idea of "what if this pairing George never actually explored &, for all intents & purposes didn't even need to include, had something." So, just, like, little basic ideas (dad/child rivalry, vengeance, I name someone after a Hamlet character--is this Hamlet? No, certainly not! My MCs don't die!--, Vermithor is there, at least one woman is into the idea of arson regardless of if she commits it) were cooking. I even had a big thing in my notes app on my phone where I would just jot down little ideas, & I talked about it with people as more & more stuff started taking shape during my first watch of s1 till I got to: twins & their younger sibling who serve as someone to be more of a "peer" to Rhaenyra & Alicent (because watching the show: they are isolated in terms of their own age group), angst, world shaking daddy issues, & an excuse to explore some really complicated emotional stuff that must certainly come from "Targaryen parent/Non-Targaryen parent." Also, the fact I was watching The Borgias for the first time at the same time as my first HOTD watch probably flavored a lot of stuff. I'm not gonna say SOTF is a true shout out to that show, or that any sibling dynamics are reminiscent of what's going on there (none of my Roycegaryens are fucking each other, for one)...but I will say that, thinking about it now, there is potentially some Juan Borgia in my Daemon Targaryen. I do not apologize for this.
Truthfully, I'm kind of surprised SOTF & my Roycegaryens made it beyond "a fun concept I play with in my head," because historically that's all I do with my OCs. But, conceptualizing story moments & interpersonal relationships just kind of made me, like, "I must share this." So with only slightly less vague notes than were in my phone moved to a google document, a steady diet of tv dramas, & the fuel of my main & expansive asoiaf AU (that I keep half plotting, scrapping, adding onto the lore, half plotting again, scrapping again, before then finally saying "this needs to stop" & just working on finalizing the lore before I do anything else) that I can use as practice I have been word vomiting onto google documents since January. Can I say what the entire plot is? No. Can I say that there are daddy issues & I know parts of where I'm ending? Yes, absolutely. Can I say that Rhea Royce & Daemon Targaryen made kids that grow up to be really, really hot? Yes, because this is an instance of my taste being good. (Ignore my Cullen Rutherford art prints under the bed. You don't see those)

Hey, this is a longshot—but d’you have a link to that “how to remove bloatware on Windows/what bloatware to remove” post?
I’m asking because a friend sent me a link to that one about pc specs you reblogged a while back, and I could’ve sworn I saw the bloatware one in the recommended posts for that one, but I forgot to like the post and now I can’t find it. I finally picked up a windows laptop and need to know what to disable.
So it sounds like you're referring to a post I reblogged from @ms-demeanor but I cannot seem to find it. But tumblr search and even the option of using duckduckgo to search tumblr for me is letting me down. Though the PC Specs post might be this one? https://ms-demeanor.tumblr.com/post/726025900027789312/so-the-counter-to-this-is-that-ssds-are-static
I may poke around a bit more later to see if I can find the post but for now... I can list off some of what I did based on my own recent experiences of setting up a new laptop after my old one decided to start blue screening if I moved it five inches in any direction. (That old laptop is now doing perfectly fine when left completely stationary, so I've been using it to experiment with creating a local file sync for back ups using some old hard drives i had lying around.)
Bloatware Social Media/Video Media Apps:
These are probably pretty obvious bloatware since this is a computer and all these services are therefor going to a.) work on the browser and b.) work better on the browser than the app anyway. Also there are a few cases like Facebook where there's a c.) why would I touch <insert application> with a ten foot pole anyway? reason for removing the App
Instagram
Facebook
Netflix
Prime Video
News - Microsoft news aggregation App (there are better options out there than this for news aggregation)
TikTok
Spotify - depends on your spotify usage tbh, but I don't use it since I just dumped all my music onto my local plex server and use that to play music all over the house
Twitter - Or X, whatever
Additionally:
Any preloaded game you don't find interesting. Depending on the vendor there could be a lot of games or no games.
X-Box gaming apps - while there are some reasons to keep the x-box gaming stuff, most people are gonna find it useless
WildTangent Games
Omen gaming - if you've got an HP laptop specifically, you will probably want to give Omen related game apps the boot too
Vendor specific applications - YMMV, I do keep some of these for diagnostic purposes, but you definitely want to at least give any HP this or Dell that or whatever type programs a harder look. Any program starting with the name of the vendor that created your laptop? At the very least look it up to see how important it really is/isn't
Adobe programs - there are free versions of everything adobe does that do it better than adobe does
3D Viewer - it's a 3D modeling program, but odds are you won't need/want this
Microsoft 365/Office/etc - Unless you need these programs specifically for professional reasons, LibreOffice is free and reliable and has multiple UI modes for the toolbars depending on your preferences
Microsoft Teams
Microsoft ToDo
Microsoft Family
Microsoft Maps
Mixed Reality Portal - Unless you're doing VR dev/VR gaming using this computer, there's no real reason to keep this one
Microsoft Whiteboard
Microsoft People
Sound Recorder - YMMV, this is useful for recording lectures and the like, but I prefer freeware like Audacity which is more reliable/just works better
Sticky Notes
Weather
Cortana
Amazon Alexa
I'll usually keep Edge around as a backup browser, but Firefox is definitely the best browser out there right now.

HOW TO DO THE WRITING THING: OUTLINING AND WRITING YOUR FIRST WORDS
Previously: Feeding the Story Monster
Tumblr media
[IMG ID: a black Corona typewriter.]
HOW DO I LIKE, START WRITING THOUGH You’ve fed the story monster, figured out what kind of stories you like and even have an inkling of the story you want to tell, and now you’re ready to start banging the keys. Great! Do that. Yes, for some people it’s as easy as just sitting down and starting from Chapter One Word One, without even a slight idea of where the story is going to go, and I assure you those people are not invited to my biannual Creative Crying Party. (We call those people “Pantsers,” as in “Flying By the Seat of Their Pants.”) Pantsing works best for short works of fiction, since by the time you’re done, there’s going to be a lot of editing and revising to do and that gets to be a pain in the ass with novel-length works. I used to Pants exclusively from High School until about 27 or 28 years old, keeping only a very, very loose idea of the story in my head and just letting whatever was going to happen, happen. I wrote a lot and did not finish much. HOW TO DO THE OUTLINE THING Once I realized that just winging it wasn’t going to work for me, I started experimenting with different forms of brainstorming, outlining and story building and came up with a mishmash of methods that I use at different times for different purposes. (I’m not going to go over the Three Act Structure because it’s one of those things that’s been so oversimplified to fit every story that it’s become kind of useless. I will instead link you to HULK PRESENTS MYTH OF 3 ACT STRUCTURE, in which a blogger and screenwriter writing as the Hulk breaks down why the TAS kind of sucks.) TELLING THE STORY TO YOURSELF You’ve probably already done this part: this is just you and you, thinking about how cool it would be if a robot chef entered a chili cookoff and had to compete against the notoriously anti-robot Sheriff Blowhard for the blue ribbon. You may have even done the next part, which is jotting some of this stuff down when you have the chance. I used to send emails to myself, but now I use the notes app on my smartphone because I can come back from a half-asleep bedtime brainstorming session, grab my phone, turn on dictation and just blurt out a few lines so that in the morning I can still see the shape of the story I’d been dreaming of.

Turning argentavis house into a workable novel. Neptune is protag and every chapter ends with him dreaming, seeing himself frequently. It isn’t revealed until later that he’s dreaming other people’s dreams.]

--drank all the waters of Lake Poescas when the Ydorans tried to drown her in it, yes.
and does she not appear nude in the visions she visited upon high confessor whatever?
Yes, but--
Do you think her nakedness was inappropriate then? That she had appeared to tempt the high confessor into sin?
No, I--]

Zalbaag sends Wiegraf’s body back west and expects it to be all gross and rotten when it gets there, but he opens the coffin and discovers he’s still completely intact, like a saint. Wiegraf is injured and too weak to dig a hole in the frozen ground. Also crows keep trying to eat her and he can’t shoo them away and dig at the same time. Wiegraf upends his money bag looking for viaticum but he’s broke. Zalbaag says oh let me and reaches for his purse but Wiegraf is like fuck you. Wiegraf ends up putting something precious of his in her mouth, like his cross or a rock or something.]
Once you’ve got the loose shape of a story-- what dirty beatniks call a premise-- you can move on to step two. TELLING THE STORY TO SOMEONE ELSE (QUICKLY) When you search for a movie on wikipedia, there’s a section marked PLOT. In this section is a brief synopsis of the entire film, beginning to end. Look up a movie you know pretty well and read the plot section. It doesn’t have every single detail, but it does have all the important points so that you can understand what happens in the movie, and what it’s about, in five hundred to one thousand words. Try to do this for your own story: tell it to someone else (in a message or email is ideal, since you can copy-paste it into a word doc for safekeeping), front to back. Don’t be coy about spoilers, don’t get bogged down into unnecessary exposition or scene setting, just let it all out as if the two of you are standing at the-- do they even have watercoolers in offices anymore? Hell, do we even have offices? Fuck it, let’s reel it all the way back to 3rd grade and your friend has asked you what happened in the last episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. When you write out the wiki-plot section of your story, make sure you’re asking yourself the kinds of questions that someone seeing the story for the first time would ask (or pay attention to the questions they are asking!). The robot chef is entering the chili competition. Why? What is Sheriff Blowhard going to do with the prize money if he wins? Why would that be bad for all of robot-kind? You guys have no idea how hard it is to find an example in my notes that isn’t NSFW, so here’s just the beginning of a story that I told to my brother last year: a lawyer who mostly works from home doing simple wills and amicable divorces and stuff like that does a job for a super shady guy who ghosts him when it's time to pay. Lawyer sends this guy like fifteen invoices and then threatens to sue, which is a real threat since he's a fucking laywer.
The next morning someone knocks on his door and it's the shady guy, with a catboy. He says "I don't have any money but here, take this it's worth a lot more." Lawyer says bullshit, get the fuck off my doorstep and come back with my fucking money you deadbeat, and slams the door… Very casual, hardly structured, just a rundown of what happens in the story. If you find that you get stuck in the middle, that’s fine! Make a list of questions that need to be answered in order for you to fill in those gaps. Keep going back until you’re able to tell the story all the way through. SOME THINGS THAT YOUR STORY WILL NEED: A place to start. This does not have to be “at the beginning.” The start of your story should be attention-grabbing; a lot of authors like the first paragraphs to be an action scene, or finding the main character in the middle of a crisis. You can always catch the reader up later. A place to go. Something happens to upset the status quo and start your character on their journey through the story. Lawrence the Lawyer is paid for his work with what is effectively a living sex doll and now he has to figure out what to do with it. The robot chef finds out that if he presents the blue ribbon to the mayor, it can be taken as proof that he’s human enough to own his own business. A problem. If everything goes smoothly and as planned, it doesn’t make for a fun read. Something, maybe many things, have to go wrong along the way. Sheriff Blowhard sends his goons to kick dirt into the robot chef’s chili pot. It might rain, and robot chef’s partner, rustbucket, isn’t waterproof. A solution or a way through. How do your characters solve the problem? Does solving the problem make more problems? How many obstacles will they have to face until they reach their goal, and does that goal change through the story? Do they ultimately succeed, or fail? A wrap-up. It doesn’t have to be THE END, but you are going to have to stop writing eventually. Not every single question needs to be answered, but the biggest ones should be in order to have a satisfying conclusion, whether good or bad. NOTE: this is not EVERYTHING a story needs-- just some things for you to think about when you’re getting ready to write your synopsis. THINGS THAT HELP OTHER PEOPLE Go ahead and experiment with other methods of outlining to see what works best with your creative process. Some of the things that other people do to help them tell their story: Drawing Maps Making Timelines Character Profiles/Relationship Wheels Song Playlists and Image Boards Very, Very Detailed Outlines But be wary of doing all these things just because it gives you the feeling of getting something done. At the end of all of it, you are going to have to start writing. You can’t avoid it forever. COME BACK HERE. MAKING NOTES, OR, A CHEAT SHEET Alright, Act One, Scene One, Paragraph One, Line One… Word One.
Tumblr media
Alright, alright, still a little bit scary to jump into feet-first. So we’re going to tell ourselves the story again, but just a piece of it-- the piece you’re about to write. [In this section, the robot chef is just seeing the headline in Robo News Daily that anyone who wins a human competition will hereby be declared a human by law. He jumps up from the table, spilling his mug of oil coffee, and yells for Rustbucket to come over and see. Together, they re-read the article and agree that this is their big chance to be able to open a restaurant of their own…] You’ve got the work blocked out. Now all you have to do is the little noodly bits, the description, the dialogue, the nice prose. Once you’ve reached the end of what you’ve planned out-- and try not to do more than a chapter or a few pages at a time, so you can keep your planning true to what you’re actually writing-- take a breather, look back on what you wrote, and then plan some more. [Chef and Rustbucket agree that Chef’s Six Alarm Chili is the best in Botville and he’s sure to win the ribbon at the Chili Cookoff if he enters…] BANGING. THE. KEYS. Set a daily time goal for yourself-- say, 30 minutes of writing-- and try to get to it every day. This works best if it’s at the same time every day; your brain will start to associate 3:00 with “time to write” the same way it associates 4:20 with “time to study quietly or volunteer at the old folks’ home.” Notice I said set a time goal, not a word goal. This is because in my humble opinion, setting a word goal is setting yourself up for failure. You’ll end up setting it too high because you think you have to, struggle for hours on end alternately picking at the word doc and scrolling Twitter, and ultimately give up, falling further and further behind on your quota and then giving up altogether. Everyone writes at a different pace; people who write very quickly don’t necessarily produce better or worse work than those who take their time with every word. And let’s face it: folks be busy. So just set yourself a reasonable amount of time in which you are to do nothing but write (and maybe sip a hot bev), and then get your fingers moving. If you write a thousand words one day and two hundred the next, that’s okay. You’re getting it done, little by little, thirty minutes by thirty minutes. If at the end of your writing time you don’t feel like you’re “done,” great! Keep going until you feel like stopping. If you write pretty much nothing one day because you just can’t get into it, that’s fine too-- just make sure that you’re not doing anything but writing during that time, even if you’re just making notes for the next scene, or a blog post about how much you hate writing today. “SPRINTS” A writing “sprint” is when you and at least one other person decide to take writing time together, usually in increments of 10, 15, or 30 minutes at a time with breaks in between. Sprints are a great way to get your writing done since you have the fun and companionship of “racing” another person, and you can even share what you wrote afterwards for some of that sweet sweet validation. In my experience sprints work best in person, but with the world being on fire right now it’s fine to virtually sprint with someone over Discord or on Twitter. A BRIEF NOTE ON ROUGH DRAFTS Save the editing for when you are done with a section-- a chapter, an act, a half, whatever. See how the story begins to take shape before you start hacking bits off and sticking them back on. And, if you can help it, don’t edit as you go for anything bigger than spelling, grammar, and word choice. (Some people don’t do heavy editing at all. I’m mostly one of those people, but I will have some wordage about it when the time comes.) TAKE IT EASY ON YOURSELF Not everyone can write all day, every day. In fact, almost no one can. There are certain authors who shall not remain nameless-- STEPHEN KING-- who are of the opinion that if you don’t spend all your time writing, then you aren’t a writer. Tell you what, Steve, fuck you. Let me let you in on a secret: everyone is a human being, and human beings need fun, community, social activity, and rest. If you need a break, take one. In fact, let’s call it a “Fuck Steve” break. Take a “Fuck Steve” break anytime writing begins to feel like a chore for you. Fifteen minutes or one entire day, however long you need to look away from the page and gather your thoughts again. Grab a drink, a snack, a blanket, make sure you feel comfortable and content. Because your writing is important, but so are you. TODAY’S TAKEAWAYS: Fuck around a little bit with outlining and see what works for you. I showed you a method that works for me that’s beginner-friendly. Remember to ask yourself questions about your story in order to get the full synopsis. Set a reasonable daily writing time (not a word goal) and try your best to stick to it. You can also do sprints with writer friends! Give yourself a fukken “Fuck Steve” break. Writing should not be painful, it should not be something you dread. Take a breather and come back to it later. NEXT TIME: POV and rich description!

Winx Children headcannons?
I'm writing this in my notes app because I lost the answer to this ask >:(!!!! Multiple paragraphs!!!! Gone!!!
I don't have any fan kids Oc's but I do have some ideas about kids (written with next gen au's in mind, so for the purposes of this response, they all want kids)
🧚‍♀️🧚‍♀️🧚‍♀️
🐉Bloom: I think Bloom was very happy as an only child, Mike and Vanessa supremacy, and would probably want to just remake her childhood for her children. She has thought a lot about two kids however, bc she loves Daphne and likes the idea of her kid having a sibling bc Daphne. She's not completely set on anything
🤴Sky: he'd definitely want two kids. Sky was a very lonely and unhappy child who's parents were distant and cold, especially with Sky being Royal and needing to keep up appreances? Yeah he was isolated as a kid. He really doesn't want his kids to grow up having no one around they can talk freely too, so two kids. Anymore sounds nerve wracking tho
👑Skloom: they end up having two out of worry that being the crown heir to the Domino throne, with connections to Eraylon, would be very isolating in a "everyone wants to use me" kind of way. One of their kids has to be the witch/fairy of the dragon fire, and the other one is probably non-magical/a specialist
🧚‍♀️🧚‍♀️🧚‍♀️
🌘Stella: She wants a big family. Like, none of these kids will ever be fucking alone ever, levels of big. She grew up incredibly lonely and emotionally neglected and Chimera being adopted into her family is the best familial thing that has ever happened to her. Chimera is the only member of her family she's close with, and Stella refuses to deprive her future children of having siblings
🛡️Brandon: Brandon comes off as a family man to me. Just observe how he manages all of his idiots, this man is an amazing babysitter. I think he'd want multiple kids just bc he likes kids, it's not very deep lol
✨Brella: Stella will at least have four kids (her family is slightly larger than Flora's). Many powers ideas; the witch/fairy of the second Sun of Solaria/shining Sun, the witch/fairy of celestial lights, the witch fairy of colors, the witch/fairy of eclipses, and the witch/fairy of the night. Of course they'd have non-magical kids as well
🧚‍♀️🧚‍♀️🧚‍♀️
💐Flora: she's motherly, she loves kids, she comes from a big family (cannon is wrong, Flora has multiple siblings. It's the vibes, can't explain). Local woman wants multiple kids, and that's it
🖋️Helia: has no preference, has no opnion. He'd be perfectly happy childless, as he'd be perfectly happy with a big family. He likes kids, but also likes his space and freedom. He has no stance
🧙‍♀️Mirta: I think she'd want to err on the smaller side, simply because she's anxious as fuck and worried she'd be unable to handle that many kids. But if the kids are spaced out enough her worries would be completely assuaged
🏞️Florelia/Mirora: Flora will always end up with least three kids. Helia is a transman and Mirta is a woman, so I don't think bio kids are in the cards here. Like theoretically with shape shifting and other types of magic it could be possible but I'm imagining that's still a new frontier and Flora wouldn't want to take the risk, especially when she can just adopt. Especially because she (and the rest of her siblings) are adopted. The magical core of a planet affects the way a child's magical core will develop (see me and @/mu5a making headcanons based on eachothers headcanons based on—) so any fairy they happen to adopt will have nature powers if they're from Lymphea. Most of the kids would likely be nonmagical (as magical children are rare) but Flora/Mirta might be able to sense magical children and adopt them so they can be raised in a family that can help them deal with their growing in powers. Ideas include; the fairy/witch of flowers, the fairy/witch of mushrooms, the fairy/witch of growth/life. Ya know. Nature stuff. Lympha
🧚‍♀️🧚‍♀️🧚‍♀️
🧑‍💻Tenca: if Tecna is going to have a child, she is going to have exactly one. Multiple children is stressful and time consuming, and pregnancy is completely awful. She's adopting one child, her little data byte, and not dealing with all that horrible crimes to her body thank you
🔫Timmy: he wants kids but he doesn't exactly know how many he wants. He comes from a big family so he tends to think on the bigger side but he'd be worried about being overwhelmed
📑Tecmy: They have one child. I'm thinking like; the fairy/witch of information/data (which was what Tecna's magic would of been if it was allowed to develop naturally), the fairy/witch of electricity, or the fairy/witch precision
🧚‍♀️🧚‍♀️🧚‍♀️
🎧Musa: She had a very happy and good childhood right up until her mother died, then she became incredibly lonely as a child, so I think she'd just concentrate all of her emotional energy into one child and giving them all the love she can muster, like her mom did for her. She wouldn't actually mind having more than one child at all, it's just that one is what she's use to so she's more comfortable with the idea
⚔️Riven: I also think he'd want just one kid. Most of his childhood problems stemmed from having parents that didn't give a shit about him, so having one kid to focus on seems like the obvious choice to him. Tho he is a bit worried about having kids, and he and Musa take a lot of parenting classes before he feels comfortable having them. He's always wanted a family, he's also eternally worried he will fuck it up. (He secretly wants more than one, Riven I think would of been family oriented if he had a family he could orient himself around, but hes definitely worried about not being able to handle it. One child would be easier to deal with, so one child is the more senseical choice)
🎙️Rivusa: I think they'd have one fairy child and one witch child in non identical twins. (Yes, I am implying they planned for one kid and ended up with twins) Ideas include; the fairy/witch of waves, the fairy/witch of emotions, or the fairy witch of performance. I like performance and emotions the best, based on that one line form the movie about music hearing the songs in people's hearts and how music often comes with preforming...these kids would be a nightmare to deal with, not for Rivusa who raised them, but like everyone else
🧚‍♀️🧚‍♀️🧚‍♀️
🌊Aisha: I think Aisha definitely wants a family but doesn't exactly know what she wants. I think she'd settle on one kid however, she was one of two and that really didn't do her any good growing up repressed and lonely. Growing up lonely and depressed was more of a consequence of her parents, so she wants to put all her enegry into one kid
⚕️Nabu: much like Aisha he doesn't have a strong opinion. He tends to think a small number like 2ish, because he grew up quite lonely but he isn't settled till they start taking about it and they both settle on one
🤽Naisha (???) (Do they have a ship name?): okay my favorite idea is the fairy of refraction, which I think perfectly mixes Aisha and Nabu's fairy powers, but I have more ideas. The fairy/witch of mist, the fairy/witch mirage, or the fairy/witch of pressure (like you go deeper in the ocean more pressure)

hi okay I need more people to know this because for……….reasons (my thumb gets tired even though I’m trying to be so brave about it)
if you use the mobile app a lot and you post fanfic or really long headcanon lists or literally whatever and it’s too much effort for you to go onto desk top and add the “keep reading” tab so you just don’t do it even if you want to, then here’s the mobile version:
If you type “ :readmore: ” (the stuff within the quotation marks but not the quotation marks) and then press enter it will add a “keep reading” line break
colon (:) no space, the word “readmore”, no space, another colon (:), enter
and when you post it will post as a normal “keep reading”
mobile users <3 please use this feature <3
genuinely you do you if you know about this and just don’t like the keep reading but if you didn’t know, now you know!

how to "get shit done": uni work addition
hi loveliest people so this is a sort of guide to how i get through uni work without going completely insane (make no mistake there is still some insanity present). I hope you find it helpful, or at least entertaining,
(disclaimer cause this is the internet: these work for me, they may not work for you)
table of contents:
a. date it
b. set reminders
c. how to stay on top of it
d. how to get on top of it if you aren't already
e. learn when your brain needs a break
f. uni is a full time job, treat it as such
A. date it
okay the first thing i do at the beginning of every semester is put uni dates in my calendar.
Term dates: when your term starts, when it ends, and your holidays. this is not just for information purposes but also so you have something to look forward to. additionally, it helps later on when you have to plan out assignment and test dates.
Assignment/ test dates: scour through the course outlines of all your courses and put every single date into your calendar. every assignment, every test, anything you have to submit goes in. that includes things like "weekly quizzes". make it a recurring date and chuck it in there.
B. set reminders
so i usually do this in my calendar but if you have a reminders app, or prefer other ways to set reminders then use that.
these reminders are not to make you feel bad for not doing work, it's to hold you responsible for your work. if you know you spiral at the idea of seeing a reminder when you haven't done work, this strategy may not work for you. don't give up, something will work. keep trying and have patience with yourself
if you know something is approaching it's easier to plan your life and your tasks around it. if you never know how long you have or you're always scrambling to figure out when something is due your mind is so focused on the dates it has no time for the work
Assignment reminders:
2 weeks before // 1 week before // 3 days before // 1 day before // 10 minutes before // on time of event
Test reminders:
1 week before // 3 days before // 1 day before // 1 hour before // on time of event
I know this may be excessive but if you're someone like me who constantly forgets things, it is very helpful to keep yourself on track
okay trust me you got this! i promise it's not as bad as it looks. right onto readings and assignments.
C. how to stay on top of it
do one reading per course per day: this is non-negotiable. trust me it is the easiest way to get through readings for a week.
if you have four courses of five readings each you will end up doing four readings a day from Monday to Friday. it is workable and you can do it. uni is fucking difficult and everyone has a story about why they're there but i promise you if you're there, the selection processes decided you were capable enough to handle it. and you are. if you can, start a week earlier so you're a little ahead otherwise it's totally okay.
2. start research for assignments 2 weeks before it is due. this will give you time and space to sort through what is relevant, useful, or should be discarded.
i have a folder for each assignment where all my research goes. within this folder there are three other folders: a. done and dusted b. too long/ not relevant c. could be helpful if i cared enough
and as i go through each paper/article/etc. i sort it into one of the three folders

My #1 post of 2022
hi tumblr i made another uquiz. i've lost track of how many i've made at this point hehehe
anyway it's seven q's, no celebrities, and descriptive results. there's of course poetry, some clothes, and general fun things. anyway take it and let me know what you get in the tags.
it is worth mentioning here: i'm gonna ask that if you do not like men (as in you think negatively of them), do not take this quiz. you will most likely not be happy with it. pertaining to results: there are no descriptions of physical appearance, additionally, all of them apply to trans-men as well. i will eat you if you're transphobic on my quiz.
okay i love you byeeee
