Tumblr media
While the second opening was disingenuous to the heart of Izuku's solo arc, the actual content of the anime itself has remained quite faithful. Even going so far as to add or change some details to better represent the characters and their feelings. It's almost as if these changes were an amendment to the manga, just in case the manga didn't answer certain questions well enough.
Like the true reason Izuku decided to leave U.A. The manga presents Izuku's loved ones as a group, with Katsuki there as the last person your eyes should look at. But will readers make that connection? With the removal of just one word in the anime, the group part of the sentence, it shows viewers a more solid, concrete reason: It was explicitly because of Katsuki nearly dying.
Another example is how the various translations of Katsuki's line ("waatteru") created fandom friction, and they would flitter between "I know" and "We know," depending on who was translating it.
Tumblr media
I always thought it had a very personal "I know" vibe to it because as Katsuki stated, and this is something reminded to us only 3 chapters earlier: He is the person who "knows" Izuku best. The anime removes ambiguity of the I know/We know debate by having Izuku apologise only once he'd made it into Katsuki's arms, making their exchange of words appear even more intimate and direct to one another. Katsuki knows.
Tumblr media
Then after he stumbles his way into Katsuki's arms, there is that bonus clip of him being awake to hear Katsuki's gentle forgiveness of him. To express that the last of his resolve has crumbled because of Katsuki’s apology and being held in those arms he feels safe. He feels loved. So Izuku gives himself fully to Katsuki's care, murmuring out his beloved’s name with a "Ka…” right before finally succumbing to sleep. I think this extra moment makes the feel of their apology seem even more romantic… because it's supposed to.
Tumblr media
And now Ochaco's handhold! It being featured in the opening gave some of us grief every week simply because this arc was never about IzuOcha, it was about Katsuki and Izuku.
Katsuki realising his need for Izuku to be by his side and losing SLEEP over not knowing if he's okay. Katsuki's proud statement of knowing Izuku best and that he couldn't be left alone because of his disregard for himself. Katsuki instigating the search and rescue of Izuku. Katsuki humbling himself before Endeavor and Nezu, setting aside his pride in exchange for the safety of his most important person and best friend, PLEADING Endeavor for his help because he's SO AFRAID of Izuku being out of his sight and losing him forever.
Katsuki saving Izuku's life again. Katsuki humbling himself a second time, apologising to Izuku and telling him to put some trust into him and their hero friends; that they can be relied on to help him. Katsuki telling him his ideals of saving people weren't wrong, and they can only win by saving everyone: Izuku, the people at U.A and the people in the city.
The beautiful poetry in Izuku’s reason for leaving, to protect his most precious person, being overtaken by his reason to stay: Izuku’s unconditional, everlasting love for that person and his overwhelming need to be by their side. And here Katsuki was, finally telling him it was okay to; he wants him there.
Even Daiki-kun said the last of Izuku's resolve left him because of Kacchan’s heartfelt apology… Yes. The opening’s handhold was really out of place.
Tumblr media
And after Izuku is brought back to U.A, we get to the real IzuOcha handhold... But rather than grabbing his hand like she does in the manga, they have her grab the more impersonal wrist area instead. It's so hard to believe we are in a timeline where Bones are making an opening Ocha-centric, when it shouldn't be, and yet NERFING her handhold in the ACTUAL anime content…??????
All of this has got me thinking that maybe Hori himself has been directing Bones to make these changes - to make BkDk's growing love for each other a more prominent fixture in the story that’s almost impossible to miss, while dampening the IzuOcha teasing into little more than kindness between two good friends. And in doing so, the anime has now become spiritually connected to the manga because this is the exact same direction the manga has been going in lately.
Tumblr media
Why else were all of these changes and enhancements made in the anime? Maybe it’s because Horikoshi is preparing people for the bkdk romance that's about to go into full bloom.

Every time I remember that Bakugou got revived on Kirishima’s birthday the more insane it becomes. Like, you CANNOT tell me that wasn’t planned in some way and if that is the case?? That’s too fucking funny to me, I keep giggling about it. Krbks, we so won that day LMFAO.

Izuku isn't losing his arms and here's why:
Okay so I know that we're all freaking out over that one manga panel, but we really shouldn't be.
Deku isn't going to lose his arms. It's all in his head.
Just stay with me.
First and foremost, look at the reactions from the characters when they join the battlefield. Specifically Aizawa:
Tumblr media
What about this screams 'one of my students just lost both of his arms and may not end up having a future as a hero anymore?'
You would think that if Hori were to really go through with Izuku losing his arms, he would put more emphasis on the characters' reactions to make it more impactful, right?
To further reinforce this idea, we also need to consider the significance of Izuku's hands in Katsuki's arc. Whether you view their relationship as romantic or not, you can't deny that Izuku's hands holds significance to Katsuki. It represents the time when their relationship first fell apart, and I think in order to call their relationship fully 'healed' and complete Katsuki's growth, he's going to need to accept Izuku's hand again.
I mean, look at how foreshadowed the handhold is. There's no way they're not going to be holding hands by the end of the series. It's a necessity at this point.
And yes, you can argue that they already did hold hands, but to me that handhold didn't seem like the official one. It wasn't as impactful as it could've been. Now, while I'm not saying that the handhold didn't have any emotion to it, I feel like it's impact got a little diluted by Katsuki's revival. It wasn't the main focus. I think that the proper handhold is going to come later and be in it's own moment.
And, I mean, Izuku kind of needs his hands for that to happen.
So now you may be wondering, if Izuku hasn't lost his arms, then how do you explain what's happening to him right now?
Well, like I said earlier, it's all in his head. I think it's AFO fucking around with his mind.
I think AFO is somehow manipulating the vestige world and OFA mental connection he was with Izuku to make him hallucinate that he's lost his arms. He wants Izuku to crumble, and what better way to do that than to convince him that his dream is over and that there's nothing he can do?
I feel like this has also been foreshadowed in a way too. Take a look at this picture:
Tumblr media
This image already foreshadowed Ochako getting stabbed in the chest, so perhaps it's also foreshadowing Izuku's fate?
The knife is in his head, so perhaps it's hinting at him being affected psychologically?
Also, the idea that it's only those that are connected to the vestige realm that can see the illusions that AFO is planting would be a great way to get Katsuki to be a part of the final fight too.
We already know that's he's going to be involved somehow. Hori himself said that the ending for mha was going to be better than the ending for Hero's Rising (the one Kats and Izu share OFA), and what better way to improve that than have Katsuki come save him from the mind fuckery?
I also think that finally having Izuku and Katsuki fight side by side has been foreshadowed for a long time, and if that really were to happen, then there's no better time for that than the final fight.
Also, Katsuki's really the only one that can save Izuku right now if my theory were to be true. He's the only character that fits the very specific requirements that Izuku needs (being connected to the vestige realm, and also having a willingness to save/help Izuku).
Speaking of, Katsuki being connected to the vestige realm was a shock for us all, and it doesn't make sense for why Horikoshi would show us such ground-breaking information if he didn't plan on using it later. This has to be the later. There's no other case where I can see Katsuki's connection to the vestige realm being implemented into the story again other than this.
So here's the TL;DR:
Izuku is being mindfucked by AFO and Katsuki is going to be the one that brings him back to reality

you know... i really don't think uraraka admitting she has a crush on izuku means that her entire purpose was on her having a crush on a boy... hori likes his characters better than that. ochako was trying to approach himiko on her wavelength.
I'm too lazy to bring manga panels up and i have to go to work, but bare with me for a moment.
himikos been constantly saying "we have a crush on the same boy, let's talk about it together" ever since she was introduced as a character. ochako's the one who's been resisting, partly because togas a villain, and partly because she felt that that she had to clamp these feelings down.
so her finally admitting to having a crush? it was for TOGA. to tell her that she understands, and she isn't going to reject togas feelings like so many other people have done in the past. it wasn't "a boy being a root for ochako's character" - it was her knowing that her feelings for toga was stronger than her feelings for a boy and she doesn't mind admitting a secret she's kept quiet for so long so that she could get closer to a person she desperately wanted to reach out to.
anyways. togachako canon.

Horikoshi didn't want to make bkdk canon at first... But now I think he does.
In an interview, years ago, horikoshi was asked who was 'bakugou's girl'. Since the main male characters had one 'assigned' girl for them as well as the girls had one boy 'assigned' for them.
However, Bakugou barely interacts with any girl in the show. Horikoshi to that question he answered that it might be Tsuyu.
I KNOW WHAT YOU THINK. These two literally never talked, they only interacted once in the sixth season when Bakugou grabbed tsu's hair, BUT ONLY THAT. To be honest, if it had to be a girl, he has more connection with Uraraka, Mina or even Jirou.
But we all know that bakugou is not gonna end up with any of them.
And, AT FIRST (like in the beginning of the manga) Horikoshi liked to draw Tsuyu and Katsuki together in his old sketches.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
But now he draws Bakugou and Izuku
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(There are too many bakudeku sketches, Imma put just two lol)
So in my opinion, Horikoshi did have in mind making Tsuyu X katsuki canon, but now his plans have changed. In conclusion, Hori did not have the bakudeku plot twist planned at the very beginning of the series as many think.

I might be mis-remembering but I kinda reading an ask where you Said that hori only drawing thicker girls because he has a thing for them????
I remember a lot more about reading the ask and how horrible it made me feel that someone actually thought that way😭 especially when I myself was finally able to feel good and confident about my body through momo and other Mha girls.
I might also be mixing you up with someone else though so don’t take what I said in the last part of my ask too seriously.
I don’t feel like answering any asks atm I’m drained from last night help but I also I think you deserve an answer. I probably did say that and tbh i don’t know how you come to the conclusion that I said that to be hurtful, I said that neutrally as in a lot of male artists (artists in general) project their own preferences onto their characters and I found it a bit amusing that it’s pretty easy to tell that horikoshi seems to like curvy women lmao. (Im pretty sure he even added that as an annotation next to a female design somewhere like good for him why would I mind ehehsj)
and once again, i do not have an issue with anyone’s body type in bnha, I have an issue with horikoshi putting some of the girls in situations that he would never put his boys in (rightfully so). I am sorry if my words hurt you but I think you have conflated two separate things here
i have voiced my appreciation of the girls’ more realistic and sturdy body types compared to a lot of other female characters from other mangas, I’m not his biggest fan but I do think he knows how to draw bodies well and I tend to lean into that and draw toga and ochaco even bigger :) so again, no issue with that at all

What fails in MHA: gags/jokes
As well all know gags and jokes are everywhere in shonen but they are rarely done well in my opinion especially in MHA. There isn't a problem with having a bit of comedy in your manga but when the gag or joke either harms the characters development or just is offensive it tends to just fall flat at best and ruin the story at worst.
There are many common and multiple gags hori uses which I HATE:
Izuku/the midoriya family are crybabies. This is one that was VERY PRESENT during the earlier seasons which in my opinion ruined the show and many peoples view of izuku as a character. It makes sense why izuku would cry more then a regular shonen type of MC considering that he is supposed to be a "normal" teenager and he shows some very clear signs of anxiety. I understand when people get annoyed at how much he cries especially because it's very over exaggerated a lot of the time and just depicts him crying a waterfall when you could of just shown him tearing up. It's a bit more excusable for inko but it really doesn't shine a good look on her especially knowing that she is quite emotionally dependent on her son .
Tumblr media
Katsuki being mean towards literally anyone and anything. We know that bakugo is a character who is going through a redemption arc to change and become a better person so we shouldn't see him be so aggressive and angry if he is trying to change especially if it's a joke. A gag like that really ruins his development and to me its the reason why I don't think he really changed his attitude or way of thinking towards izuku as much as people like to believe he has ( CANON BAKUGO AND FANON BAKUGO AREN'T THE SAME )
Tumblr media
Perverted characters like mineta or sir nighteye .Yes, this is definitely targeted towards mineta and night eye because Iam still very disgusted by the scene of bubble girl and night eye and mineta just gives me the absolute CREEPS. honestly, idk what it is with hori and giving us these type of stuff it's honestly disturbing and disgusting I don't think I would mind if it were done to criticise or lambast something about hero societies pedophilic undertones and the way it loves to sexualise female characters but it's just there as a horrible gag.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Dumbing down denki and making him seem stupid. This is more of making UA look bad because Denki could of been seriously hurt in the usj because of the whole dumbing him down gag and while it isn't the worst gag in the show it kinda falls flat in my opinion and just makes ua look bad. It's also double standards in my opinion because he would be useless in battle if he were to overuse his quirk just like izuku.
Tumblr media
The interview scene with mount lady. I don't understand why izuku was ridiculed for his lack of control when it came to blackwhip and it doesn't help that some of the characters where DEFINITELY ACTING OUT OF CHARACTER when they all had the same reaction.
Tumblr media
There are some 50/50 gags that still failed due to horikoshi not letting them go or not handling them well.
Izuku's everlasting fanboyism of heroes especially all might. Look this one isn't that bad but like I just don't like the fact that he never grew out of it. I personally like to think that izuku was a big all might fanboy is because he saw all might as the only person who actually believed in him and gave him words of encouragement even if it was through a screen and even if those words where directed towards anyone not only him. As the story progresses izuku should grow to realise that all might is a flawed individual who has cared for him but harmed him at the same time.
Horikoshis perception of izuku being "too intense". This could of easily been incorporated into Izuku's character as an actual character trait that could be used as a gag from time to time. For example we see izuku over think everything or hyper analyse so many small things like fuyumi's cooking. There are moments where izuku seems to come off as weird to other characters and I feel like that shouldn't happen or it should be handled in a better way. I mean how is it that someone doing something so simple as looking at a video intensely will freak/weird you out compared to someone who has a weird quirk or a passerby doing something weird
There are definitely A LOT MORE THAT IAM PROBABLY FORGETTING.
However, hori does have some good gags/ jokes in my opinion, yes they are rare but they do indeed exist like:
Kirishima's manliness. A lot of the time this actually promotes positive masculinity which is something that is definitely needed and it also helps develop kiris character a whole lot more
Tumblr media
This one interaction between jiro and tokoyami. I really liked it, it didn't come out as sexual which is something I really enjoyed and you can clearly tell it's just two classmates vibing and trying not to die
Tumblr media
Tokoyami and his whole darkness persona. Idk I guess this is me but I like it, it adds a lot to tokoyami while also not being overused .
This one Iam 50/50 with and it's yuuga and his whole I like cheese and I can't stop twinkling persona. I think it adds more depth to his character and foreshadows his role as the traitor to a certain extent but I also find it a bit stereotypical considering the fact that he is french and yuuga will just end up speaking in basic french words and then Japanese
Tumblr media
Hawks favourite food ironically being chicken wings. It's simple but it also makes us closer to hawks and can make him a bit more relatable to people
Tumblr media
Izuku, iida and shotos hand crusher joke. That has to be my favourite joke in the series it literally didn't end up mocking anyone and cemented one of the best MHA trios
Overall, hori sucks at making truly enjoyable gags and has a lot that harm characters developments especially surrounding his MC Izuku but he can sometimes actually provide enjoyable ones.

OkAy,hear me out.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Monoma says something about "the gifted break the world," while Shigaraki says dreamers do. Monoma insults Katsuki right after saying this,
Tumblr media
Now we have a very similar line to the first thing he said, but instead of it being about Katsuki ending the symbol of peace,he's saving him in 404 after Shiggy drops his emo line.
Now,isn't interesting that we get so many call backs to the Black Whip arc? Yeah, everyone,we are finally getting the conclusion to it. I'm so excited. But,that means Katsuki might get hurt again so he can see with his OWN eyes how Izuku reacts to his "most important person" getting hurt.
Tumblr media
If this does become a manga panel,I wanna talk about why Katsuki might not be asleep.
Tumblr media
First of all,his eyes are covered,so of course we would think he's asleep, but again, his eyes are covered,he might be awake.
I mean,Katsuki's hair covers his eyes all the time when he's wide awake. And it looks the similar to the cover.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Also,I know Izuku is supporting Katsuki's head (which is probably so he doesn't choke on his own blood, which is such an almost sweet detail Izuku would have this in mind as well as it is dark as fuck) But,realize how Katsuki's head doesn't go to the side? Yes,Izuku is supporting Katsuki's head, but it would still go to the side, even a little, unless he was awake.
So,I think Katsuki is going to get tired and Izuku almost losses control of Black Whip again, but he goes over to Katsuki to hold and support him while Katsuki is fully aware of it for once.
(*Perhaps they'll even have a very short n small talk...*)
Or,yet again I am reading too into things and Hori just wanted a gay ass cover that people like me would love and never shut the fuck up about. And probably because he's a shipper, bless his soul.

He LIVED Bitches!!!!
Tumblr media
Long post ahead
First thing first... I love this starting pallet (i'm definitely overthinking)
Tumblr media
Not complete white not complete black with prominent shadows, because every major character in the show is grey and one half of each partnership likes to lurk in shadows...This just highlights that things won't always be merry and colourful, but they won't completely be helpless...
Now to the episode itself...
We knew Aya was going to jump... Glad she was oh so delicately caught by Aku... I didn't think it was possible to clear everything in one episode, but expect the unexpected i guess...
And the main part of Dazai being alive and kicking...No but really, this is such a relief...
I kinda had the whole thing in the back of my mind that they can't kill Dazai, he is necessary for the plot armour to plot armour and all that shit...
But there was equal chances of Asagiri taking notes from Isayama or Gege and just decide, fuck it... let's keep him dead....If not the confirmed dead thing, then the dead till stated otherwise route that Hori took.
But i'm soooo glad Asagiri didn't do that!!!
Also, glad to know he is still as cocky as ever
Tumblr media
AND AND AND
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I screamed!!!! My fam started looking at me for two whole minutes like i've just gone crazy!!!
Because we got the prettiest boy speaking!!!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The look on Fyodor's face when he realised he was played by the one he had completely under his control (or he thought he had)... I think he realised the 'shallow bond' comment haunted him in this moment
I will deep dive into what exactly happened in those seconds in a later post, but i just wanna say
Tumblr media
This is soooo damn funny!!!! Like you have this big bad mafia boss who has been MIA for the whole part of world destruction and his precious city being in the centre of it all (lets face it mori loves Yokohama more than he loves the whole world, he would gladly let the world burn if it means keeping that damn trouble-magnet city safe!) - BUT BUT BUT, then when things start to look up you only get a mention of the said boss and that too with a goofy fact such as he glued in vampire fangs to one of his executives! Don't tell me it's not an embarrassing dad thing to do, because it is!!!
I just know he, Hirotsu and Koyo has a hell of a time getting teenage soukoku to adulthood alive!!!
I mean -
Tumblr media
WHAT DO YOU MEAN SIR YOU USED TO DO THIS ALL THE TIME???
No one's doing it like them!!!
Plus i just know Manga coming out is going to be even more gay than the anime, there will be more explanations and more fruity moments!!!
On a sad note...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Fyodor actually seems to be dead ( even if i don't believe it)
It hurt so bad to see Gogol man going - i wanted him dead, no i didnt, but maybe i did. His voice alone mad me sad...
But you know what i'm not sad about???
Getting rid of Fukuchi!!!
I'm not going to pretend that i felt even an ounce of sympathy for him, his whole 'i did this so you can bring peace' or 'some sacrifices are necessary for greater good' thing seemed forced to me. Like a desperate attempt at ending his character arc on a forgiving note, positive note...
But like i said, most characters in this show are grey... But there was none of Fukuchi's shade, and i didn't like it, even if in the end he wanted peace.
i do feel sad for Fukuzawa though,
Tumblr media
He will have to live with that curse...
Plus i don't think Fukuchi is completely gone...
Decay of angel's may be over, but the mess they have left behind is not, there is still the other side of the page and whatever the fuck went down in those two hours...
Tumblr media
But i'm glad that atleast Aku and Atsushi are on same side this time...
Tumblr media
and this looks so much like:
Tumblr media
So yeah, it's just another start!!!
Plus, You remember Soukoku came to fame after final battle of Dragon Head conflict?
The Finale of Decay of Angels will the foundation of Shinsoukoku's journey...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The two of them against all the threats to come...
We sure are in for a treat!!!

I caught up to the manga!
Here are my thoughts and predictions of what might happen:
Tumblr media
Media broadcast reminds me of Kamino arc and Dabi reveal. Kamino arc revealed All Might's true self and health issues. Dabi reveal outed E-word as the abuser he is. Both reveals caused a great shock in public. Since the patterns are similar, I expect another shocking reveal in a few chapters. Possibly around 398. And that would be AFO outing himself as Hisashi to All Might, Izuku, or both 👀
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I'm worried about All Might. Nighteye predicted he would have a gruesome death, and he had several death flags in this arc alone. Trying to fight prime AFO as a quirkless man is so dangerous 😭 I want to believe he will stay alive. He HAS to keep living.
I'm not sure how many spies AFO still has in UA. They might sabotage the system and take civilians hostage. Especially because one of the parts (cabins) is unable to move to the safe grounds.
Toga's villain name... she drinks blood to transform. I think it will be something like Bloody or Blood Lover 😅
E-word will die. I want Touya to return to his family, but he's so burnt he probably needs Rewind to survive.
Quirk rebellion is interesting. AFO and Shiggy will lose their stolen quirks if they are able to break free from them.
I find Izuku's condition very sus. His hands are always covered with gloves, what if he has holes on them like his dad?
If Izuku has his own version of AFO, he might be able to borrow quirks from his classmates. OR he can fight in that mind dimension to set the stolen quirks free. Just like how Yoichi and Nana defied AFO.
Speaking of Nana, I wonder if she's related to Inko? They do look similar, and Nana being Izuku's grandma would make Shiggy his cousin. I hope Hori can give us Inko's backstory after the DFO reveal.

Can we talk about Shigaraki for a minute?
In my opinion, I think Shigaraki is a fantastic villain. (Minus when Potato man took over and him being side lined rn.) Shigaraki goes from someone who was stunted in childhood to him being the most fear man in Japan, respects his league, cares for them, ACTUALLY listens to them, and is an actual threat, while making a valid point about Hero Society. Tell me why people read him so... fucking weirdly? People think Shigaraki still suffers from angry outbursts, doesn't give two shits about his league, and games all day. He isn't like that anymore. Dude was literally fucking calm when Toga had a knife at his throat. He lets his team speaks their minds, and gets others' outputs. Like, he DOES change. The reason why Shigaraki acted like a "man child" was because AFO literally stunted his growth on purpose. He had childish behavior because that's a result from trauma. He grows from it, and overcomes it.
Or people making him into an incel is just... gross. Or people just being grossly ablest, too. People being like "lololol Shigaraki is crusty he doesn't take care of himself he smells he's musty" which is... 1.) grossly ablest to people who have eczema/skin disorders. He looks "crusty" because has eczema scars. No amount of shitty, scented lotion will get rid of his scars, 2.) It's clear Shigaraki struggles with depression. Having depression rips you of the energy to do anything. Getting out of bed or showering is hard for some people. Minus this tagent, It really sucks AFO just kind of took over the role of the big bad when Shigaraki kept fucking say it's HIS dream, HIS path. Not AFO's. Even saying he HATED him. Tomura, you deserve better. Both within fandom and canon. 8-9 years of development, and this is what we're getting for the big show down?
I completely agree.
I've touched on this briefly before, but Shigaraki's character progression in Deika City was spectacular. It was great to see him reclaim the power that he was shunned for (and accidentally destroyed his family with) and evolve into a true leader. He was really coming into himself and working towards his own goal. Deika not only carried season 5 (season 5 was soooo bad), but it solidified Shigaraki as one of my favorite anime villains.
And then Horikoshi took away his agency by having AFO snatch his body😐 Him wanting AFO in the first place literally undid all the progress he had just made.
This is what I can't stand about Hori's writing. He'll introduce a character or concept or character concept and then completely disregard it moving forward (quirkless discrimination, corrupt society, quirk marriages, Momo's entire character, etc.). Someone said it in one of my reblogs; the manga introduces a bunch of interesting concepts, Hori just has nothing interesting to say about them.
Tomura definitely cares for the League. He says that what he wants is for his friends to be able to be free to do as they please. He was also infuriated over Magne's death. I think that they make him feel like he belongs and he has people to relate to and look after. He definitely thinks of them as friends

A post about the time Hawks made Kacchan really, really jealous.
When I watched this scene in the anime I found it amusing as hell. Kacchan’s behaviour felt kind of strange/off though, but after I saw the panelling of the scene in the manga recently, it only seems even more funny and bkdk driven. His behaviour also made more sense. I’ll breakdown the scene and go into some of Kacchan’s deeper issues after.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
They meet with Hawks after he helps them bring down villains. Izuku is star struck from the get-go and nervously greets the rank #2, who likewise recognises him from the sports festival.
Tumblr media
Hawks tells Izuku he's heard about him from Tokoyami... then backtracks and says, "No, actually... (even without that) I would have liked to have worked with you, too, but..."
Tumblr media
However, before he can finish explaining himself... he feels a "sakki", meaning bad feeling or literally "killing intent." (But the anime didn't show this part of their interaction! or how noticing the sakki interrupted Hawks' speech. So this is another one of those little flavourful nuances anime watchers(me) missed out on)
sakki (殺気  The individual kanji are pronounced satsu and ki, respectively, but due to Japanese grammar rules, the -tsu in the former is dropped and the consonant in ki is geminated, turning it into sa- + -kki.), which is primarily used by practitioners of Ninjutsu; "Killing Intent" is the most literal translation, with "Bloodlust" as a close second. The Chinese equivalent is sha qi - x
Which is kind of funny, considering Katsuki's soon to be revealed hero name which also had “Satsu” in it. Dai Baku Sasshin Dynamight. (Great Explosion Murder God Dynamight)
Tumblr media
Hawks turns to the source of the "sakki"... and it's Kacchan staring bloody murder at him, challenging him! After the stuff Hawks said, it feels like Kacchan is even more annoyed at Hawks for taking a special interest in Izuku, by saying he wanted to work with him (despite being so busy he left Tokoyami in the care of his sidekicks). I think in Kacchan's mind this means a scenario where Izuku would have been with Hawks at his hero nest instead of with Kacchan at Endeavour's agency... 👀 How territorial! I think Hawks also noticed something was off and taunts him, just for fun. 🤭
Also, this is only a funny coincidence, but after Hawks says something that feels like he's wanting to 'take Izuku away,' Kacchan just happens to say “About before, I got in faster than you." It could mean absolutely nothing, or it could be the slightest nuance for "I was here first. Deku's already been mine since childhood, so back off.” Like an inside joke Hori made for himself, knowing he was writing bkdk to become the main canon couple in the series.
I'm /hj ofc but… you never know! It's wild that Kacchan is even this hung up on what Hawks did in the first place, so I might be trying to make it make more sense! understandably, right?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
When Hawks leaves, not only is Izuku swooning over him again... now Shouto is too! Kacchan can't stand it! I don't know about you, but if Kacchan's intense reaction is only that Hawks showed them up, it’s a severe case of the punishment not fitting the crime. Not to mention, it began when Hawks started chatting up Izuku about getting him to intern with him and got even worse because Izuku went full fanboy mode LOL
Tumblr media
Later at the agency he’s still filled with rage from their meeting, making up an insulting nickname for Hawks that can loosely be translated as “smiling birdbrain” (Hawks wears a carefree smile on his face and Katsuki doesn’t like it. He thinks he’s being smug - which he was, but only just a little… so again… punishment ≠ crime which is why we can theorise there was something more to his jealousy.)
Lmaooo listen. Think of a really possessive boyfriend who can’t stand their lover checking out other people and commenting on how attractive they are. And you've literally got how Kacchan feels about being a hero in front of Izuku.
Kacchan's gotten jealous like this before, when Shouto declared war on Izuku at the start of BNHA. That's how he got involved with the Todoroki family drama, because his jealousy drove him to follow them sneaking off alone together. And again in the third movie, at the very end, when Kacchan's boyfriend stayed back to say goodbye to Rody, and he glared at them the whole way going up the escalator lmao
Tumblr media
Jealous Katsuki "needs Izuku's attention on him always" Bakugou has three modes: “Why aren’t you looking only my way you shitty nerd.” “Forget this other bastard, what about me??? I’m ‘sugoi’ right?!!” and our fave (😂) “Just keep your eyes on me, shitty Deku!”
He responded with SO MUCH irritation at Hawks simply because Izuku’s fanboying over somebody that’s not him.
Poor Kacchan has to compete with all other heroes for Izuku’s affection because he’s an otaku that grew up worshipping all quirks. 😂
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Meet Katsuki Bakugou: From the age of four, he was told by family, doctors, teachers, hero loving society and the next door neighbour's cat that his quirk is the embodiment of excellence. What a guy! He will go far in life so we should let him do whatever he wants, it’s fine! He can be my sidekick! In a world where a person's character and value are measured by the power and usefulness of their quirk, Katsuki was the king.
Then there’s Kacchan: Grew up alongside this shiny doe eyed shitnerd who was always watching him, walking behind him, telling him stuff like he's sugoi and his quirk is so cool and he is so cool and wouldn’t it be cool if he also got a quirk as strong as his... And years later, Kacchan is (unsurprisingly) triggered that his Deku is reacting to everyone else and their ‘inferior’ quirks in almost the exact same way that he does with him. He has the biggest LOVE (ONLY!) ME DAMNIT vibes with Izuku! good lordt
Tumblr media
The main issue Katsuki encountered after entering U.A and the world of pro heroes, was suddenly not being the obvious choice for best anymore. His usual status of being society’s king was completely upended after his world opened up to people like Iida, Shoto, Enji and Hawks. Something that was so effortless to him before, now required a lot of hard work, if he was going to rise above even the outstanding.
And I think a big reason he feels insecure around other talented people is because a part of him will always want to stay the coolest and strongest in Izuku’s eyes! That’s why Izuku acknowledging others sets him off a little. He knows what Izuku’s like… but he still wants to be the coolest to him, unquestionably sugoi and stay Izuku’s #1.
Tumblr media
And sometimes it’s almost like, unless Izuku is the one doing the praising and fanboying Katsuki and only Katsuki, there's just no meaning to any of it for him.
** .•° ✿ °•. ❀。• *₊°。 ❀°。 ೋღ
It was only ever Izuku.
Growing up, surrounded by admiration from people who never dared to stand up to Katsuki... ultimately, it was only ever Izuku who valued his own set of principles and stood up to him when he was wrong. Because Izuku... was always honest with him, about everything. He let Katsuki know when he didn't approve of his behaviour, which meant the times Izuku did praise him was something that could be trusted. It didn't feel like the empty praise from everyone around him who only saw him for his quirk. It didn't feel like a lie.
Katsuki eventually realised the reason Izuku faced him was because Izuku genuinely cares. He saw all of him and despite intimately knowing his weaknesses and flaws not once did Izuku stop believing in him... so before Katsuki knew it, Izuku became the only person whose attention and approval actually meant something to him.
Can you blame him, though? Izuku’s the one who has been faithfully at Katsuki's side his entire life, sharing his dreams, believing in the best of him, gently encouraging him to do better than his worst, teaching him kindness of the heart and heroic sacrifice and finally… what it means to love someone so fiercely, you could give your everything and call it by their name.
Tumblr media
Katsuki’s forever hero who always comes running to save him, no matter what. His one and only constant. How could he not become completely intertwined with him and fall hopelessly in love?

Isn't all of the rabid BKDK shippers similar to that one pairing in Bleach where the loud shippers want one pairing and the Editors suggest that the Bleach's author should do it, but he explicitly stated that he wanted this pairing instead because its his story? At best, the official canon ship for Izuku would be Izuchaco or implied of it or no ships at all.
At least Hori agrees with us that the BKDK relationship is abusive and that the two would be treating each other as acquaintances who just happen to grow up together. And the thing is for that BKDK contest, he acknowledges the skills of the artists but the relationship is not romantic at all. So it's really just people being extremely obsessed with the idea that any and all relationships should be romantic instead of platonic. I wonder if he was expecting a badass action scenes between the two working together instead of causal romantic times?
Do you happen to have a citation for the contest so that we can point towards the fact that BKDK is just for fun, not canon?
I remember I saw horis reply somewhere on twitter between 2 or 3 years ago. But I dont have twitter, well X know, anymore. Honestly, I dont quite remember if it was a bkdk fanart contest or just an exhibition. And I think it was only japanese artists. But basically, while he praised all the fanarts and the talents of the artists, he made clear that the way bakugous and izukus relationship is portaied as in these fanworks is not what their relationship is really or ever was like. There were tons of romantic bkdk and fanart of them as children playing happily with each other. He basically confirmed as unbiased as possible that this kind of interpretation of their relationship is completly fanon. Maybe someone who reads this can give us a link though, I tried to find it with google, but google only showed me reddit and quora posts about "why bkdk is canon" and such stupid stuff. 🙄
And yes you are right, the bkdk shippers are VERY similar to the rapid ichiruki shippers back then. Mind you I WAS THERE when the shipping war between ichirukis and ichihimes was at its highest and believe me it was UGLY and for me who never shipped ichigo with either rukia or orihime it kinda destroyed the manga/anime for me back then and its one of the main reasons why I dont like shipping in generell anymore. But despite never shipping it myself I KNEW ichigo would end up with orihime, because kubo made it obvious. The anime cut a lot of canon ichihime moments and included tons of filler ichiruki moments, so its no wonder why so many people believed at first ichiruki was a thing. And to be fair to kubo, he made clear statements back then about ichigos and rukias relationship being pure platonic YEARS BEFORE the manga ended, but the shippers ignored that and played victim afterwards. Hori on the other hand would never make this kind of bold statement, because he is aware of the backlash that would happen. I like hori and I can understand why he wouldnt want to upset people because he was attacked and got death threads in the past already from stupid shippers, but I have to say tite kubo is clearly the braver one of these two. He simply gives a fuck what people think and just does his thing no matter if people like it or not.
The best part was how not that long ago he completly destroyed an hardcore ichiruki shipper on social media who attacked him and insultet ichihime and kubo was just like: "you know what? FUCK YOU! From now on I will make even more ichihime content just to piss you off even more asshole!" Kubo is amazing and a legend!

Forgive me if you've already answered this somewhere (I dug around but didn't see it!!) But I'm curious what you think Hori's endgame with Dabi is? I want so badly for him to be "saved" because I think it would help complete Shouto's character arc.
Overall theme
OK, so here is the most important thing to keep in mind with the set-up:
Izuku - Tomura
Ochako - Toga
Shouto - Touya
I think we all agree that these are the main hero-villain pairs set up all the way back in the Forest arc. They are different from other "fated villain" set-ups, in that the kids' win condition is not only to defeat their counterpart, but save the crying child inside them and this became a very important theme over time.
I think fandom opinion is unanimous that Toga will be saved and will survive. Also, a majority thinks that Tenko will surely be saved, but may or may not survive. The only one whom I see fandom say that he's a too far gone sociopath with no redeemable qualities and who will burn himself in pure hatred is Touya.
I tend to ignore these people personally, because I think the story gave us enough clues both that Touya is capable of caring and that there is a love-hate mixed together when it comes to his family. He gets the same child-coding as Tenko and Toga, as recently as Ch 352. So I think the three main villains undoubtedly will have the same ending in that their inner child will be saved. This for Toga should mean acceptance, for Tenko should mean a hero who comes and for Touya should finding the meaning of his existence.
Another question is whether their adults selves will survive - or we get something like a moment of relief / closure, to be followed by redemptive death which is a common trope.
2. Precedents
We don't really know what Horikoshi is planning - we have a couple of clues though. I think we can all agree that there is no scenario where the kids will kill their counterparts. It's not that kind of story.
In Heroes Rising, which is the "original ending", Nine is defeated by Deku and Bakugou, but they don't kill him - the one who kills him is Shigaraki though I think it's less to do with the original ending, but rather HK not wanting to leave a loose end where one of the Shigaraki prototypes is still potentially walking around. The other villains the kids defeated survive, including Chimera, whom Shouto froze from the inside.
Tumblr media
The ending of Vigilante is not HK's writing, but he supervised the manga, and we don't know if he had input on the endgame. Still, since the main villain, Six, is another Shigaraki prototype, it's worth taking a look what happens there. Especially, because some of Six' things aesthetic - including his Ghostrider look - are not only parallel to Shigaraki, but also to Dabi. "Proof that I existed" - does it sound familiar?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
It's an impactful, heart-breaking death scene, but it's quite dark. Koichi reaches the child in Six, but can't save him.
So, ngl, this ending is always in the back of my mind when I think about Dabi's endgame as one small fear.
But it's also important to note that Vigilante in tone is a darker, more mature manga than MHA, which is known for never really killing off characters. In Vigilante, there are other hurt/no comfort kind of deaths - like Shirakumo's.
3. In-story set-up of the Todoroki endgame
Now, after this long introduction, let's see the set-up that's in the manga. So the general set-up is that Deku, Ochako and Shouto should all reach and save their villains. Physically beating them is not a win (as seen from Shouto's fight and now Deku's too), only reaching and saving them will do.
Beyond the overall theme, there are two "foreshadowing" moments specific to the Todoroki plot.
The first is Endeavor's dream:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Now you can treat is "prophetic" that Endeavor and Touya are not meant to survive the endgame. But can you imagine Shouto, Natsuo, Fuyumi and Rei be happy and laughing when they lost two of their family members? So I take this dream to mean that Enji has no place with his family unless Touya can return too. Endeavor's endgame happiness is conditional on saving Touya.
The second is Shouto's wish:
Tumblr media
When talking about Touya, Shouto's wish is not only to beat him or stop him, but to get to know him. That's Shouto's happy ending - not just a win, but eating noodles with Touya.
If you look at Touya vs Shouto, they struggle with the same question: the meaning of their existence - Touya as a "failed creation", Shouto as some whose mere existence hurts others.
Tumblr media
Shouto's Phosphor - a move born from his heart to connect his two halves - is what he sees as a tool to "affirm the reason he was born". And I think with Touya copying this move, the set-up is there - Shouto can save Touya if he can help him realize that it's up to him to give meaning to his existence.
Now, this could still go in the direction of a redemptive death if you just look at Touya's character in isolation - but there is the other part of the equation - Shouto's endgame; his success as a hero (stopping Touya from killing not only others, but also himself), and his happy ending as a person (someone who gets to bring together the family and build a relationship with his brother).
So I think even if you think Touya dying and maybe Enji dying with him would be a tragic but fitting ending for them, it still doesn't really work for Shouto - who despite other claims from fandom is still the main protagonist of the Todoroki saga. We started this family journey with him, this is the kids' story mainly on their path to be heroes, so I think what makes sense for him simply cannot be disregarded. And because of that, I believe that Touya will be saved (find meaning), but will also survive (Shouto's win) and get a hopeful ending where the Todoroki family will get a chance to heal.
4. What about his burns?
"But he's burnt to crisp - there is no way he can survive" - people will say. And to that, all I can say is, look at the guy with the exploded heart. We had the same arguments - Bakugou's survival "makes no sense", "you cannot put a heart back together", etc during those weeks. But those of us who saw Bakugou's death and felt that narratively it makes no sense for his character or even for Deku's character, were pretty chill because we knew that if the story needs him to survive, the story will find a way to do just that. And along came Edgeshot with Wash's soap bubble - things that weren't really set up in the story before were found because the narrative demanded it.
I think the same is true for Touya. I cannot predict what will be the thing that saves him in "medical terms", but if the narrative requires that he lives, the tool will be provided in that story for it.
TL;DR: So putting all this together, I'm 100% sure that Touya will "turn good" and find some meaning and closure and I'm about 80% sure that he will survive too.

Let's talk more about Kudou - the fucking idiot commander - who's bright idea to save Japan in THE LAST OFA USER is to Kamikaze himself and sacrifice OFA to Shig?
...Ummm what? Am I meant to buy this guy commanded anyone?! 🤣😂🤣
He must have killed his whole squadron then if his plans are normally this level of idiocy.
All this realistically would do is power up Shig even more to make him UNSTOPPABLE and in the process doom both Izuku with Japan as a whole.
Hi @doodlegirl1998
Ok, first let´s all agree here Hori just wants to end this damn manga. So before I go into detail about this shit show, let´s talk about one good thing he did: He was nice to Yoichi. No, there was no gain for Kudou to be nice to Yoichi he did bc yes...granted maybe Kudou was bad to Yoichi in some form and we didn´t see, however, he can´t match AFO. He didn´t even know about ofa so him saving Yoichi was selfless.
That is his only good trait. He was nice to Izu 2.0
Now, let´s shit on this moron: He held a grudge against Izu for no reason, and some people TRY to justify "Ah ha DFO" which first off, Kudou was killed 200 years ago...how HE would know IZU IS AFO´S SON? Which btw, Izu is not AFO´s son and makes the whole justification lame ...this fandom will go beyond to protect any Bakugou, hm?
This MF wanted to buff with a kid who is fighting something WAY beyond his pay raise. Never mind how this MF refuses to work with the only hope to end AFO...for reasons (even if DFO became real, I don´t think his defenders realize how this makes him pathetic "He is fighting with a kid who has no idea of who is his father" like, my guy, Kudou and BRUCE is being incredibly stupid by beffing with Izu, regardless if afo is his dad or not. Again, fandom stop trying to defend this bozo)
It´s so unfair Izu to be saddled with the second coming of BK. Look, while BK may not be related to Kudou bc "AFO MURDER HIS ENTIRE FAMILY AND ALL WOMEN KUDOU EVEN SAID HI" I do think they are related spiritually, which honestly? This makes it worse.
Now, why Kudou start a revolution against AFO? The fandom preaches "EVIL EMPIRE" But no one ever talked about it, which if his empire was SO EVIL...I think we could see echoes of it. NOPE. All we see is AFO killing people (BAD, let me make clear it´s bad)but most of his killings seem to be out of the moment. Like, I know people want to see AFO like this smart and manipulative asshole "I killed this random Joe to further my ultimate goal" when in the canon is more like "LOL I´M EVIL"
Like we see AFO in a penthouse, for sure he killed people to get the penthouse, but while IS BAD, could this action result in LE REVOLUTION? Like, imagine if Kudou is rich and AFO random killed makes Kudou lose his money it´s a fair reason to hate him...but KUDOU HAS AN ARMY. Why do people follow him? Did AFO kill their loved ones and or steal money?
Hori: BK is the best in all forms.
Kudou didn´t get a single win! He was murdered by AFO, couldn´t protect Yoichi...and FOR SURE PEOPLE WERE MURDER UNDER HIS COMMANDER.
Now, his plan is to give his quirk to SHIG...Bc OFA has all suicidals morons (Nana included, sorry) and Izu is saddled with this(a choice Hori made, remember Chapter 1?) that wants to Kamizake, don´t forget En wanted to be the sacrifice bc Smokescreen is a useless quirk (I agree, hence why in my fic I want to change his quirk, I feel a smokescreen is smth Mei could create with her gadget)
The idea is to fight Shig inside Shig...So Izu, rip your shirt sexily and look like a demon...you will have sex now!
Bc apparently Shig has a hate feeding him, literally. He has a lump on his head...(Star is touched by Baby Tenko´s sadness...I mean, she doesn´t know Shig is Tenko so this makes sense) This makes me think of cancer or tumor....and Izu needs to fight Shig inside Shig...All this is based on a moron´s plan who has no INFO TO BASE THIS DECISION.
Remember when Izu analyzed quirks, he stopped bc IT WAS CREEPY (insert bemused emoji) and now we have Bk3 doing this, and Izu going ok with this. HE IS GIVING UP HIS QUIRK BC BK3 SAID SO (this is equally bad if Izu had given ofa to Bk)
I made jokes on the server about Izu and Shig having sex...but I still hate the chapter.
Also demon!Izu looks like Tanjirou from Demon Slayer.

I kinda noticed that Toya's quirk would actually still be enough to make him a hero.
I mean, even ignoring Aoyama and Midoriya's "borrowed" quirks, the hero course still shows the children hurting themselves with their quirks: Kaminari fries his brains, Mineta bleeds if he takes too many grapes, Iida self-multilates to make his engines stronger, and Bakugo's quirk hurts his hands during his fight against All Might.
Toya's still an effective fighter even with his burns. And we have been shown that heroes have equipment to lessen the strain on their bodies (Midoriya's gloves, Aoyama's belt, and Bakugo's outfit storing his sweat).
And now I keep rethinking Toya's backstory with this in mind. Enji had the money to get Toya accomodations, had been a hero long enough to know about support equipment. Did Enji make a concious decission to give up on Toya instead of trying to accomodate him?
I agree with this and I'm gonna expand on this in a sec, but first I think I should make a distinction between quirk downsides and quirks that are incompatible with the body. Uraraka, Bakugou, Kaminari etc just experience the downsides of pushing themselves too far, but their bodies sustain their quirks. I think a better example are Aoyama and Deku. A brilliant meta a while ago (I'm sorry but I don't remember who op was) pointed out that all the examples we have of bodies that "reject" their quirks are always the result of some kind of artificial tampering of quirk biology. Deku and Aoyama have quirks that have been passed on to them but which were not initially theirs, and Touya's is the result of an eugenics experiment. At the beginning of the manga Bakugou explained that quirks are just another extention of the body, so it makes a lot of sense to think in terms of trasplants and compatibility, you know?
Anyway. That said, I also agree that the strain on Touya's body could've absolutely been lessened with support items. Think of Deku's gloves and leg bracers, or Aoyama's belt. Said items wouldn't nullify the strain, but they would make it manageable.
And that's precisely why I think Enji didn't even consider them as an option.
What Enji wanted was not to make Touya a strong hero. He wanted a heir who could be stronger than All Might. Early on his career, around 20, Enji realized he could never accomplish that goal on his own because all his stronger moves left him on the verge of heat exhaustion. He then proceeds to see overheating as the "weaknesses" that gets in the way of getting to number one, and marries Rei in a last ditch effort to craft an heir who can combat it with frost. Specifying this is important because it sheds light on his actual intentions.
When Touya manifested his quirk, Enji knew he had no frost. The reason why he trained him anyway is that Touya's fire burned hotter, and as such he brought more brute strength to the table. At first, Enji thought that would be enough to beat his rival in terms of sheer power levels. Remember, All Might has the power of 8 people (including himself). He's a superhuman. But Endvr didn't know that. He knew that All Might was ridiculously op, and that the key to besting him was just packing a stronger punch—nevermind that it was literally impossible.
Now, Touya did pack a much stronger punch than Enji.
Tumblr media
It's even depicted with a fist and all. Hori is not suble.
For a handful of months, Endvr then forgets his initial goal of a fireproof heir. Remember, Enji overheats when he launches his special moves.
Tumblr media
He even says that Prominence Burn is not a move he can fire off multiple times.
That's why he backed away from his ambition so fast and entrusted it onto his children. Enji cannot rely on the power of his flames alone. To put it in simple terms, during the time he needs to cool down, All Might is free to keep fighting and widen the gap between them further. And that's without counting that the big blows in Endvr's arsenal are limited. One big Prominence Burn, saved up for the one-hit-K.O.s, and a handful of less strong supermoves. Then it's all over because his lucidity and coordination rapidly worsen and get in the way of a victory. If Endvr doesn't want to be out for the count within five minutes of fighting a big bad, he needs to pace himself. We're shown this in how he saves his big blows for sure hits.
But unlike him, Touya doesn't need to build up heat and release it all at once to launch a big attack. His son has the output to fire off those type of blows like it's nothing. Suddenly, Enji thinks he found a workaround to breach the gap. The bridge metaphor:
Tumblr media
If Touya doesn't need to hold back the way his father does, Enji reckons he can also shorten that insurmountable distance. During the time Enji would "waste" cooling off, Touya could pose a real challenge to All Might's superhuman prowess.
So Enji trains him in that sense. His ambition flares and blinds him. He forgets that the reason he needed an heir in the first place was because bigger heat=bigger heat exhaustion. After he sees a way to finally reach his lifelong goal, he becomes obsessed with it and overlooks the dangers.
Instead of keeping an eye for heat exhaustion, he puts all his money on teaching Touya how to open a fight with finishing blows, to bulldoze through any fight and win his one-sided rivalry that way.
Tumblr media
That's the only reason for not teaching Touya how to cool himself off. He wasn't counting on him needing to. This whole strategy hinged on Touya's fire burning hotter than ever, on firing all the one-hit-K.O.s Endvr couldn't.
Are you still following me? Good, because here's where reality crashed down on him.
In his ambitions of glory, Enji didn't consider that Touya might've inherited his "weakness" to fire exhaustion. So when he sees it not only reflected in his son, but also amplified by Touya's much stronger fire output, it's the end of the line.
Please note, Enji didn't need Touya to make him a strong hero. He needed a strong enough weapon to overpower his rival. Quirk support items could've helped Touya better cool himself down, that's true. But that doesn't mean anything to Enji, because he was aiming to get a supersoldier that didn't need to pace himself or hold back in the first place. He already tried that route himself and experienced first-hand that it wasn't enough to best All Might. What he wanted was a perfect weapon with no "weaknesses".
The truth is that he never cared about Touya's wellbeing. That was just the excuse he used to justify replacing him. When he discarded him, he wasn't safeguarding him against harming himself, but just looking elsewhere for a better puppet to entrust his idea of success onto.
Enji wasn't interested in creating accommodations for him because his goal was never centered around Touya. He just used him as a receptacle of his ambitions, but none of this was ever about Touya, or about letting him maximize on his potential. It was always about Enji crowning his goals. Touya was just a tool for him to achieve them—something easily thrown aside and forgotten when it didn't measure up to Enji's expectations.
So in other words, Touya was already doomed as a failed pet project when he was born with a body that can't sustain his quirk. It's not that he wasn't strong enough, or smart enough, or had enough resources to excel. It's that his father didn't see him fit for factors entirely outside of Touya's control. Factors Enji should've anticipated when he mixed together two incompatible quirks, but for whom he rejects accountability
