Reylo Fic Recs- Horror/Spooky AUs Part 2

It’s been a while since I’ve done a rec list and with spooky season here I thought I’d do a part 2 of this rec list

Just a reminder, I do not read darkfics. These mainly deal with ghosts and other supernatural things and keep a general Halloween vibe

Includes title(with link), rating, chapter and word count, more specific AU, and an intro. My favorites are marked with a 👻

Our Ghosts Rated M/ 18 chapters, 45k words/ Modern AU/ Rey is a newly hired camera operator for Investigations Unsolved, and for the season finale, the crew will investigate the Snoke House. (Think Buzzfeed Unsolved visits the Haunting of Hill House mansion, if Ben Solo was Shane Madej. Perfection. This fic LOOKS like it’s unfinished but it’s not, I promise) 👻

Within These Walls Rated M/ 1 chapter, 13k words/ Victorian ‘Sixth Sense’ AU/ Ever since he was little, Ben has been able to see ghosts. Rey has a unique gift of her own and together they return to Ben’s ridiculously haunted childhood home to learn what exactly happened there. (The author has put a few content warnings in the beginning notes so be sure to read those before you start and only read what you’re comfortable with! Also it’s more about the ghosts that their relationship, just keep that in mind! Also included in my Regency/Victorian rec list)

The Echoes They Left Behind Rated E/ 7 chapters, 31k words/ Modern AU/ Rey Johnson is the caretaker at the old (and possibly haunted) Takodana Sanatorium. Journalist Ben Solo comes to write an article about it before it’s torn down. (I highly recommend listening to the the podcast episode the author mentions in the notes, as well as the rest of the podcast as it’s my favorite one)👻

Dark Fate Rated M/ 16 chapters, 69k words/ Frankenstein AU/ Rey has been betrothed to aspiring doctor Armitage Hux for most of her life. When she turns 18 and arrives at his home to be married, she finds him to be cold and distant. And hiding a big secret in the basement

Caught by Crystals Rated T/ 40 chapters, 70k words/ Modern witch AU/ When Ben Solo moves into Maz’s boarding house to escape his past and to fill a teaching position at the local college, he meets Rey, Finn, and Rose. Family and town secrets are soon revealed with the help of Ben’s magic (Also included in my college/university list

you cannot just say "youtuber Klaus" and then NOT make a post about it!!!!!!! I need it!!!

I'm so happy someone wanted this!!!

Vanya never destroys the house and the apocalypse never happens, they all decide that they should move in the house and fix their problems

Klaus of course gets the best idea and makes a dumb video tittled "Keeping Up With the Hargreeves" to make fun of the Kardashians where Klaus films everyone and forces them to do interviews

In the video he convinces Allison to start drama with Diego by accusing him of stealing her eyelash curler (Allison can barely keep a straight face as she does it and says it was her toughest role yet)

Diego gets very confused and winds up saying he doesn't have eyelashes and it becomes a meme that forever haunts him

But after the first video Klaus gets really into and he starts a series with Vanya where they just eat food and talk about being lgbt and the discrimination they face

Diego decides to joins them after 4 episodes which is how the world finds out he's bisexual

Klaus also makes a series with Allison where they gossip about celebrities and talk about fashion

Klaus does lots of vlogs with family drama but somehow they're actually good and people are convinced that he stages them

He does not, everyone is just really dramatic

After being sober for a year Klaus makes an hour long video talking about his struggles and how he was able to stay sober through it all (spoiler alert: everyone cries)

Five refuses to be in any videos after the first one (he only takes part in ones that he finds intriguing) and fans have started a game where they try to find five in the background of videos

Luther also isn't in many videos but he did make one where him and Klaus talked about body dysmorphia, self image and how to become a better person

Technically Ben is in every video but he isn't visible until months later because Klaus didn't know how to make him corporeal for longer than a few minutes

Afterwards they start a prank series were they prank Diego and Diego only

Sadly he falls for every prank and never learns

The most popular video is Klaus eating bacon for 47 seconds, it is tittled "свинина"

He never explains it and refuses to acknowledge it's existence

Within a year and a half Klaus has 7 million subscribers, other youtubers try to collab but Klaus says no to everyone except Ryan and Shane from BuzzFeed Unsolved

He goes on a ghost hunt with them and confirms that they're are ghosts there but somehow Shane is still able to make a reasonable explanation

Aside from Ben, Vanya makes the most appearances (Allison right after her) and people are finally able to see & appreciate who she really is

This leads to her becoming extremely loved by the fans and a rise in her book sales

After that the fans start an anti-Reginald group because he sucks, all of the Hargreeves are fully supportive of this and Klaus even makes merch (Allison approved of course)

been thinking about the buzzfeed unsolved umbrella academy AU ill probably never write so here are The Headcanons i have for it

five is shane, ben is ryan

its been a few years since the end of s2(SW i am ignoring bens ghost death) five is now 18, he shot up like a rocket

actual nutrition will do that to you

klaus, diego, vanya, and luther are the camera men(yes vanya is transmasc icon in this <3)

their fans have made a loose connection between this sassy 18 year old and the 13 year old that went missing a few years back

theres a running theory/joke that five has committed famous assasinations, there is "five killed (insert famous person here)"

they also connected ben loosely to the 13 year old kids brother who died 20 something years ago

in this au, allison kind of sort of rumored the whole world into forgetting they were superheroes(oops)

there are sometimes bits where klaus tells his brothers what the ghost/s are saying, its sort of played off as a joke

luther and diego sometimes get into arguments off camera, vanya chipping in every once in a while

they quickly become a fan favorite

they do an episode with famous actor allison hargreeves, casually, like she's a regular on the show, the comments are full of people freaking out

their next upload features her too, this time they adress it though. allison's their sister

so now whenever she isnt filming for a movie or tv series she sometimes features in a video

vanya has to edit out SO MUCH shit, ben appearing and disappearing, five teleporting, klaus making a completely different ghost visible, diego throwing knives at them from off camera, that time he himself broke diegos mug to prove a point

some of it slips through, little things like ben flickering slightly or a split second flash of blue

they, unsurprisingly after so many requests, make a video on the missing 13 year old who somehow stayed unnamed after all these years

five throws in little hints the whole time, he cant help himself, when finally, ben brings up the fan theory, he jokes(well not really) about it

that just adds more coals to the fire

one day five posts a picture of him with his arm around air(really it was an invisible ben) with the caption "hanging with the bro"

he likes to think hes funny

theres a lot of inbetween takes moments of five making fun of ben for being afraid of ghosts when he is one

bens argument is "they can actually touch me", five thinks thats lame

ben is also always complaining that its unfair how tall five got "you used to be at my shoulder" he complains "maybe you should try growing" five snarks back

The investigation is completely derailed by the arrival of the Spook Troop. But as annoying as they are, some of them can't help but feel drawn together.

like,, klaus talks to ghosts, so that's basically proof that they exist. so is bfu supernatural even a thing, do they just hunt cryptids and shit, or is it the same??

if they still hunt ghosts, did they ever invite klaus to do an episode? if so, could ben communicate using the equipment?

did they ever do an episode on five? if so, what happened when he got back?? did the mysteries start to unravel, or did it just add more yarn to the pile???

“Harry.” Y/N pouts as she makes her way into their kitchen to see Harry sitting on the stool doing some work on his laptop.

“Yeah, bubba what’s wrong?” He looks confused as his girlfriend runs into his arms and hugs her. “Bubs, you alright?” Harry was a bit concerned about why his girlfriend looked scared. Since he was a couple years older though (5 years specifically), all he wanted to do was just protect her.

“I’m stupid. I watched an episode of BuzzFeed unsolved because my friend recommended it. It was scary but I chose to watch more because I was sooo interested. Now I’m just scared!” She hides her face in his chest as he rubs her back. She was so innocent at times and so soft that whenever they would fight, Harry tried his best to not make her cry because he never wants to see her in that way.

“It’s alright, baby. Why won’t you stay with me for a while?” Harry suggests as he picks her up so she can sit on the counter beside his laptop.

Hours went by and Harry was slightly confused since his girlfriend has been following him wherever! After working in the kitchen, he invited her to watch something with him in the entertainment room. When it was around sunset, he had to call Jeff about his work schedule. Usually, Y/N would leave him in his office alone but this time she made herself comfortable by dragging one of her office chairs into his office. After his meeting, Y/N followed him into their room while he grabbed himself a sweater. One for her too since she was already with him.

“Nothing else to do pet? Are you obsessed with me?” He teases as he turns back to watch her follow him down the steps.

“Mhm. Plus this house is too big. I’m still scared.” He laughs as they sit back down in the living room. Since they’ve been in quarantine, their house has been a mess, with blankets and pillows everywhere.

“Scared of what bubs?”

“I don’t know that a ghost noticed me through the screen and decided to possess me next!” She straddles Harry and lays her head on his shoulder. “I love you.” She whispers and hugs him tighter till her eyes screwed shut.

“My baby still seems frightened.” His hands give her a bum a huge squeeze. “How about you stay here while I get us some ice cream. We can watch a few episodes of gossip girl so you can feel better.”

He carried her off him but just as he was about to get off the couch, Y/N was already doing the same thing. “No Bubba, stay here. I’m just going into the other room.

“But-”

“No. Get Gossip girl on. I’ll be in the kitchen just grabbing us a tub alright?” He kisses her forehead and leaves her. He was a bit excited since he was planning on scaring her. Just a good lil fright.

After grabbing a tub of Ben and Jerry’s and two spoons, he creeps into the living room to see his girlfriend starting one of the episodes while she is curled up into one of the many blankets scattering the room. The other day ago, they made a fortress but it got destroyed since Harry was fucking Y/N a little bit too rough, the blankets fell on them.

Harry turns the lights off making his girlfriend scream his name. He silently crept up to touch her, making her scream louder.

“Baby, it’s just me!” He turned her around so she could see him. What he didn’t expect was to see her silently crying. “Fuck baby, I’m sorry.” He hated this. A little prank that went wrong.

“You knew I was scared! Why did you do that!” She cries a bit harder now as Harry drops the ice cream and takes her into his arms so she can straddle him again.

“I’m sorry baby. I’m sorry! I thought it was funny.” He kisses her over and over again as his thumbs wipe her tears. “Please don’t cry. Please!” It reminded him of those moments when he was younger and Gemma would suddenly go soft after hitting him in anger while they were fighting. He felt like he was in big trouble. Y/N hugs him more tightly as Harry soothes her more. He tries to rock her. And kiss her. He even murmured sweet things in her ear.

“How about I make you come till you forget the monsters? What about that?” He takes her chin in his hand as he watches Y/N’s teary eyes. She was hesitating at first but as soon Harry rubbed himself on her, she knew there was no turning back. “Daddy’s going to make you feel better okay?”

Comet’s decision to put Dolokhov in eyeliner was a great one and I think modern Dolokhov should get to wear that too (someone once suggested to me that Hélène taught him how to do it and I vibe with that)

some cassie/mobius + benssie headcanons bc it's 4am and my brain is 🤯🤯🤯 (idk if i already posted some of these so shdnnddn)

true to her roots as a Carrie-inspired character, Cassie presumably died because she got buried by a rain of rocks underneath a collapsing bunker

At some point during Ben 10k's time, The Ben 10 verse' equivalent of Buzzfeed Unsolved has covered the mysterious death of Cassie. This was seen being watched by Kenny who was investigating the identity of his father's first heartbreak.

Ben and Cassie are often in the same wavelength to the point that Ben could easily get the gist of the latter was thinking about even when he was unaware that she was Mobius.

Since the possibility of Ben easily recognizing Mobius' true identity is very likely, the latter often positioned herself in distant areas where he could barely see her whenever she had to fight alongside him. The instances where was almost discovered mostly happened during the game show episode.

Cassie's journey as Mobius has 3 endings: Neutral Ending, Happy Ending, and True Ending.

The Neutral Ending is basically a premise to her becoming a demigodlike being similar to her counterpart from Eon's dimension. During his route, Cassie has fully become one with the flow of time and has strayed away from her memories as a human, floating in-between the spaces of the multiverse as a passive being.

The Happy Ending is her returning to her original timeline but during Ben 10k's period, where she reunites with him and starts anew as a newly wed couple.

The True Ending is Cassie coming in terms with the realization that the people she had hurt will never forgive her, but that doesn't mean that her future will be grim as she had hoped it would be. As long as she worked towards in forgiving herself, it wouldn't be so bad after all. Because of that she had made a decision to be returned to the point in time where she had died and instead reverse the outcome of the events, making her survive. She ended up having to sacrifice her memories of everything she did as Mobius but still retained the hopeful spirit she gained during her travels. The now surviving Cassie has given birth to a new timeline that Paradox has named, the Mobius timeline.

“Well, that’s a nice title.”

“Isn’t it? But she was a huge deal until she died at sixteen. It was the second big tragedy that hit those kids. The first was Number Five’s disappearance three years earlier — that episode is coming next week — and it was followed by Ben, The Horror’s, death the next year.”

“Talk about unlucky...”

“No kidding. But as tragic as that all was, that’s not even what this surprise episode is about. Only five days ago, a picture was taken outside of the Meritech building, of two people who were quickly identified as looking exactly like Number Five and Beatrice Lovecraft.”

Sorry it’s been a while since I’ve been properly on here! I hope you all like this (it’s very hard to decide on just five things, so here we go lol) (also please keep in mind this isn’t in some kind of favorite order or anything; it can go in any order since these are all pretty important to me):

1. Books. Collecting them, reading them (when I’m able to; I’m not always in a good head space to do so, especially this year). I love researching them, figuring out what else to read, what other editions of favorite stories to collect. I love coming up with different ways to display them. By author? Alphabetically? By genre? Who knows what my brain wants to do next lol. I have SO MANY FAVORITES and whenever someone asks me what my favorite book is I freeze and forget every single book I’ve read before lmao. I can’t just choose one!

2. My cats. I have four and live with three. Long story short, my first girl, a medium-haired tortie named Calypso, lives with my mom and I live with Panda (all black, short-haired), Mew (all black, medium-haired), and Maybelle (tabby and white, short-haired). Calypso doesn’t live with us because she does NOT like other cats lol she is very much her own woman. Panda is 13 and a grumpy, yet soft, old man who loves sitting in my lap. We just got Mew and Maybelle in July and Mew just does her own thing and Maybelle is neurotic af and had a rocky start with the other two so now neither of them really like her that much, but she adores my husband so now she acts like his puppy lol. Hopefully as time goes by this will get better! They’re all so sweet and adorable.

3. My husband. I know it’s cliche af, but he understands me more than my own family. We’ve had plenty of struggles; both of us are clearly neurodivergent; but it’s clear we’ll stick by each other through basically anything. I can talk to him and he’ll listen. Our privates jokes are silly. I repeat my favorite things over and over and over and over and he’s more than okay with that. Is the bar low for cis men? Quite often I believe it is. But he sees his issues and wants to work on them. He identifies them and talks to me. I love him dearly. We got married two years ago and bought a house together about eight months after that (we’ve been planning to do both for some time). We’ve been married for over two years and together for five. I want this to be a lifetime for both of us :)

4. Favorite aesthetic and nerdy things. This includes books as already mentioned; spooky, witchy, Halloween things and aesthetic; Nintendo, especially Animal Crossing, Mario, and Legend of Zelda games and merch; anime, especially slice of life, horror (supernatural horror is the best), certain sci-fi and fantasy, and comedy; Studio Ghibli and Sailor Moon are very important; I love soft cores like cottage core, forest core, faerie core, goblin core, grandma core, etc (like pics and fashion, etc); Ty Beanie Babies up until about 2008 (these new ones with the huge eyes just don’t hold the same magic for me, but I HAVE purchased a few of them, including a couple of red and black dragons that remind me of Ben Solo/Kylo Ren lol; it may have something to do with getting older/not liking change, but the Beanie Babies themselves just aren’t the same quality as 20 years ago; remember going to Hallmark and finding a beautiful selection? They smelled so good and it was fun seeing the variety); shows/series like Star Trek, Masterpiece Theatre, Foyle’s War, The Inspector Lynley Mysteries, Scooby-Doo (Where Are You? The New Scooby-Doo Movies, A Pup Named, and Mystery Incorporated are my top favs), Courage the Cowardly Dog, Bob’s Burgers, IT Crowd, Whose Line is it Anyway?, Buzzfeed Unsolved (supernatural is the best one lol), Unsolved Mysteries (the new Netflix series is very good, but I got a soft spot for the old Robert Stack episodes; hello, blaming drugs and Satanic cults on all the problems people dealt with in the 80s and 90s lmao), The Golden Girls, and any others I can’t think of right now; movies like Lord of the Rings (The Fellowship is the best to me) Jaws, the first three Jurassic Park films, The Mummy and The Mummy Returns (it’s not right without Imhotep or Rachel Weisz as Evey), The Conjuring universe films (I’ve enjoyed all of them so far), Sleepy Hollow, Paranormal Activity, Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, oh my goodness there are too many to list here!

5. Staying cozy on cold days. Bundled up under thick blankets while wearing a hoodie or sweater with a warm cuppa tea and a cat in my lap. I love black teas like English breakfast, and a wide variety of herbals especially fruity ones. Our house doesn’t have the best insulation and we both get cold fairly easily lol so staying warm is a top priority. Hopefully soon I’ll be in a better head space to read on top of all of this while staying warm.
