Okay, so I just finished the Captain Marvel MPower episode...
I have literally so, so many thoughts about this and I am literally gushing, so just be ready when you move under the cut.
But before the cut...
THEY SAID CAPTAIN MARVEL WAS THE MOST POWERFULLLLL!!!!!!!
Okay, now that I’ve gotten it out of my system, please proceed under the cut for more Carol fangirling/obsessing.
Gosh, where do I even start....
The fact that Brie Larson was an absolute queen when training for this role? I mean, this girl was pushing cars, climbing mountains, flying in a real freaking jet?!!! And she kept a smile on her face the whole time, handling it like the true hero that she is 🥰🥰🥰
And then when it got time for them to talk about Maria and Carol.....
My gosh, I literally was grinning like an idiot. Their relationship is not romantic. It’s friendship. It’s love that you have for another person without romance required. It’s one of the purest kinds of love you can have. It’s platonic and it’s beautiful. Brie said that the love of Carol’s life is her best friend, and she truly could not have phrased it more beautifully.
And then there was that little extended cut where they were showing Carol and Maria’s hug after Carol had the flashbacks of who she was before, and Maria’s little “I got you” had my heart positively melting.
Maria and her were so, so sweet, and it was so nice to hear validation of the understanding that I’ve always had regarding the nature of their relationship. They’re best friends, and sisters even and they have such a deep bond that completely moves past the idea of the romantic. It eclipses that and pulls them into a league all of their own. A relationship doesn’t have to be romantic for two people to be insanely close and hold each other in the highest esteem and as their number one.
And don’t even get me started on Akira Akbar’s portrayal of Monica and just her relationship with Brie. Granted, I only got one little shot, but you perfectly can see just how sweet Brie is with her and how that truly is her little Monica 🥺🥺🥺🥺
Monica is literally her baby, and I cannot wait for her to meet with her in their upcoming movie. They’ve got to fix this rift between them and I need to see some hugs, Marvel 😤
And then there’s that part of the movie where Carol says “My name is Carol” with the tear rolling down her cheek? Brie did that. She brought that side of Carol forward, showing her emotions and the beauty of combining ultimate power with ultimate vulnerability. It was truly an artful moment with so much depth that so many people seem to overlook in favor of calling Carol “too emotionless.”
Carol had emotions. People try to claim that she’s too cocky or something, but to that, I say look at Tony. He’s the most arrogant of them all, and somehow a ton of people excuse it and love him. Steve was arrogant in his own way. He was closed-minded and unable to understand reality for the sake of his own idealism. I love both of these characters dearly, but you can’t make exceptions for these and condemn Carol when Carol wasn’t even as arrogant as them.
Carol had a sense of cockiness to her, sure, but it was not overwhelming to the point that she walked around like she had the whole universe in the palm of her hand (like she definitely did). It was actually even cute in a way. Many people actually seem to confuse her lack of knowing how to work on a team as arrogance when she simply just did not have that much experience with working with others often.
Carol is so inspiring and Brie, too. She’s literally the perfect pers on to play this role, and she truly brings such a real and human quality to this character. She is this character. She has put her heart and soul into Carol and even though she says that she’s simply a conduit for a concept, she truly is Carol in so many ways.
I mean... if she wasn’t that awesome, then why in the world did Airforce enrollment of women go up by 50% after the release of Captain Marvel? Like I said, she’s an inspiration and truly the best actress to play this role. Carol’s my favorite character, and I will be eternally grateful for Brie’s incredible ability to bring her to life in such a meaningful and powerful way.
Which brings me to another of my most favorite points of all.
Carol being confirmed as the most powerful character in the MCU was extremely gratifying for me. I’ve been saying this forever, and while so many people want to get upset about that and argue that Wanda or Thor or someone is most powerful, it comes down truly to seeing it for what it is. I love Natasha. She’s one of my most favorite characters, but I have the ability to see that Carol could mop the floor with her if she wanted to. Carol could mop the floor with pretty much any MCU character with the greatest of ease. She faced Thanos effortlessly and he had the full glove of Infinity stones. Of course she’s going to be the most powerful. She may be my favorite, but I can view it with enough objectivity to know that she is truly the most powerful character of all.
So many people are going to hate her even more now that it’s confirmed that she’s indisputably the winner in terms of power. But I love my strongest and most powerful Avenger 💫💫💫⭐⭐⭐⭐✨✨✨✨

WELL came out of the theater and all I can say is that the marvels is a movie for the gays
listen to me. you do NOT have a five minute scene in which valkyrie arrives dramatically in a suit and speaks to carol holding both her hands, talks to her with the implication they’ve interacted many times before, and leans in to give her a kiss on the cheek before leaving. you do not casually give popular f/f rarepair ship fodder like that and say otherwise.
you also would not give carol danvers an undercut. or have kamala quote walt whitman. or have the rainbow over kamala and her crush superhero idol be the pan flag colors. hope this makes sense

The Khan’s are just PHENOMENAL. They’re so warm and vibrant and hysterical in all the best ways. The MCU is absent/shitty/dead/evil-parent-and-complicated-family central, theres too much familial feuding at times, whether that family is blood or adopted or found, so I am LIVING for and LOVING how the Khan’s are just so normal and ordinary and wonderful. It’s no wonder Kamala has such a can-do, confident, positive attitude. It’s no wonder she’s such a dreamer and proudly herself and so damn funny when she’s surrounded by so much love and encouragement. Kamala Khan and the fam need to be in more Marvel movies, their dynamic is just joyous and healing and I will NOT tolerate another Aunt May incident. I WILL NOT. I swear if anything happens to ANY of them-

what’s your opinion on MarVal?
I assume you’re talking about Valkyrie x Carol? Because if you are, then I adore it! It was born as a joke but Marvel actually decided to make it canon and I’m here for it!!

‧͙⁺˚*・༓☾ . ┊ You're Carol's designated note taker, and usually the one teaching her a few things. What happens when you give her the wrong set of notes?

“Can any of you attempt to discern meaning from this week’s assigned reading? Why might I have selected this particular work for you all?” asks Professor Valkyrie, starting class for the day. Your hand immediately raises, and she nods in your direction.
“Well, was not Beckett’s entire point to find meaning in the absence of conventional meaning?”
Professor Valkyrie, nods.
‘Interesting thought,” she says. “Care to elaborate?”
“Well,” you begin. “Beckett created a landscape for us that is so alien and foreign, and unlike what we know. The play does not include any symbolic elements, and it does not really go anywhere. You might try to make meaning out of the carrot that Didi and Gogo share, or the leaves appearing on the tree, but they literally mean nothing. At the end of the play--we, as well as Vladimir and Estragon, are all still waiting for Godot. So, in a sense, there is no meaning, but perhaps there is meaning in the fact that there is no intended meaning.”
“Good,” replies Professor Valkyrie. “As always, a carefully articulated and thoroughly crafted response. Excellent work as usual.”
You smile politely, and fall back into your seat as Professor Valkyrie continues to lecture about Samuel Beckett and the wonderful nature and reality of Waiting for Godot.
Meanwhile, you’ve jotted at the top of your notes, in big bold letters ‘I hate this play!’
After all, the ability to just to understand and converse about a work of literature does not mean that one has to enjoy it.
After class, you’re stopped, as usual, by the one and only  Carol Danvers. Resident jock, captain of the division one team, aspiring pilot, rumored sex god extrodinare, Carol Danvers. She’s quite the legend around campus, but not exactly for her work ethic as it pertains to academic pursuits, which are... lacking, to put it politely.
“Do you have my notes for me,” she asks, holding her hand out. “I need to at least act like I’m going to study tonight, right?”
You roll your eyes. “Carol, why do you ask for my notes if you never use them? You do realize that mere possession of the notes will not translate into you understanding the material, yes? You have to actually read them in order for the information to enter your head.”
Your reply is snarky, short and snappy, but you’re fed up with Carol at this point. She asks you for notes in all the classes you share together (which, granted, is not many,) but never seems to read them or take any of her classes very seriously. Carol narrows her eyes at the response.
“I’ll just sleep on them? Os--”
You cut her off, finishing her sentence.
“--mosis does not apply, Carol. You know that. You cannot absorb the material through the pores of your skin. Read the notes, and actually try for once, or stop bothering me. I could be taking notes for myself, rather than focusing on summarizing all of the lectures so that you can stuff them into your bag, never to see the light of day again. Don’t ask me for notes again unless you’re ready to be serious.”
With that, you hastily pull out a few papers from your bag, not bothering to double check if they were the correct ones or not. You shove the papers into Carol’s and turn away sharply, not bothering to look back. Granted, you were headed in the completely wrong direction, but you weren’t about to give Carol the satisfaction of seeing your face again.
Of course, Carol knows that you hardly need notes for your own purposes. Summarizing the lectures for her provides you with the information you need to keep your own mind sharp, with years of literary study and reading filling in the blanks to broader context for you. But still, you love to hassle her. Carol does feel guilty occasionally, knowing how much work you put into the notes you take for her. They’re always organized, and you write important little tidbits down in the margins. She always glances at them, but can never bring herself to actually study the notes.
Tonight is different. Carol is inspired, reenergized by your scathing talk. She sits down at her desk, and finally pulls out the notes you gave her. She reads the first line, and laughs to herself.
These definitely weren’t the notes she meant to give me, she thinks to herself.
_______________________________________________________________________
You’re startled out of your evening study session by a loud ding from your phone. Normally, you wouldn’t check your phone in the middle of studying, but you’re intrigued.
Your jaw drops slightly when you notice that the text is from Carol.
8:57 hey. I’ve got a question about the notes
You’re shocked. Carol actually... read the notes?
9:00 Shoot for it. How can I help?
9:01 Well. The notes weren’t really on Waiting for Godot
9:04 Oh. Did I give you a repeat copy of last weeks’?
9:05 Well, I wouldn’t exactly say that they’re standard academic notes
You roll your eyes at her comment, typing out a harsh response before deleting it and sending a far more cordial reply.
9:06 Oh?
9:07 Well, for starters, I don’t think that Waiting for Godot has anything to do with sex.
Attached to her text is a picture of your recent exploration of the things that turned you on, or as you aptly named it “An empirical study of the things that make me wet.”
You’d never meant for anyone to see it, ever. It was purely a list of the things that you desperately wanted to try, things you enjoyed watching and reading, various things that interested you.
You’d written the list mostly as a joke, as a way to get the ideas out of your head. You wondered how it even found your way into your backpack, and you’re ready to curl up into a ball and cry when Carol texts you again.
9:13 I could help you, you know
9:14 I have a few things that I could teach you
9:15 What do you say we make a deal?
You swallow thickly, intrigued.
9:17 What sort of deal?
9:19 You teach me literature.
9:21 I’ll fulfill your deepest fantasies. (And take you out on a date ;) )
You blink slowly, unable to process the words appearing on your screen. A date? Lessons in sex? It all seems to be far too much to handle, and you’re not sure if Carol is serious. The prospect is alluring, however, and you can’t help but admit that you’ve had the tiniest (largest) of crushes on Carol ever since you saw her in that signature leather jacket of hers, kicking her legs up against the desk in front of her, even if your feelings were against your better judgment. You knew she was aware of this fact, and the way you were always angry around him for some odd reason.
9:24 If this is a joke, it isn’t funny, Carol.
9:30 I’ll pick you up at 7 tomorrow. Be ready. We’re getting pasta.
__________________________________________________________________________
“So. You want to be a pilot, but now you’re here playing rugby and studying literature?”
Carol shrugs.
“My best friend Maria and I were supposed to enlist together, but some shit happened and he needed me to stick around. I’ve always been good at rugby even though my dad hated that I played sports, and so I stuck around here. Got a full scholarship for rugby, and put the dream of flying aside. The academy will always be there. It’s not what I wanted, but it’s what Maria needed. I couldn’t just leave her when she needed me most.”
You smile softly at Carol, shocked by her sudden display of emotion. She’s clearly conflicted, and her eyes drift up to the sky, staring wistfully at the dimming horizon.
“I think that’s very brave of you, Carol. You’re a really good friend,” you say, reaching out to place a hand atop hers in a sudden burst of confidence. The evening had been oddly pleasant, and conversation flowed between the two of you. Granted, Carol was still somewhat of an egotistical jerk, but she was obviously emotionally conflicted, and she had sacrificed her biggest dream to help her closest friend when she needed it most.
Carol looks down at your hand, tensing up for a second before flipping her palm to meet yours and giving your hand a quick squeeze.
“I’m alright, ok? I don’t want you worrying about me.”
You nod. Carol smiles, and moves to stand up.
“What do you say we get out of here, and head back to my place? Maybe watch a movie?”
You smile, nodding at Carol. “I’d like that a lot,” you whisper. “I’d like that.”
Carol holds her hand out to you, helping you up out of your chair. You move to pull your hand out of hers, assuming she meant to just assist you up, but she holds on firmly as the two of you walk back to her vintage red Mustang.
The drive back to her apartment is filled with throwbacks from the 90s, widows open and hair wild. You’re both singing the words of the songs obnoxiously, relishing in the sweet freedom of the open night.
When you finally reach her apartment, your eyes are bright and your hair is messy. You look over at Carol, messy hair strewn about. You begin to laugh uncontrollably, with Carol joining shortly after upon seeing your own windblown look.
When the laughter finally succeeds, you look over at Carol to find her gazing at you intently. You laugh apprehensively, but Carol’s gaze does not falter.
“Has anyone ever told you you’re beautiful,” she asks.
You nod your head slowly. “Not really, no.”
“But you had a boyfriend?”
You nod. “It wasn’t really the best of situations. I’ve since come to many realizations about myself since then.”
Carol smiles. “Well, then I guess I’ll just have to tell you as many times as I possibly can to make up for the lack of times you’ve been told that.”
“Carol, I don’t even know how to respond to that,” you sputter out.
“So don’t.”
Carol leans in over the middle of the car, hesitantly pressing her lips against yours in a tender kiss. You’re surprised at first, but you lean into the kiss, melting against her mouth. Your hands tangle in her already messy hair, and you smile against her lips. The kiss intensifies as your hands begin to roam down Carol’s back, fingers itching to explore. She pulls her hands off of you, smiling softly.
“Let’s head inside, Princess. We can have a lot more fun in my bedroom than we ever will out here.”
You nod your head, eagerly anticipating the next steps.
When you reach her apartment, he leads you past the kitchen, flipping on various light switches as she heads through the living room, finally reaching her bedroom. It’s surprisingly neat, with framed photos of her and a woman that you guessed was her friend Maria. There’s a small pin shaped like a sort of star resting atop her desk, with a framed photo of an adorable orange kitten. Her bed is neatly made, and the room is incredibly put together.
“You like it, huh?”
You jump, startled by Carol’s voice.
“Yeah. Um, it’s very nice,” you reply. “Super neat.”
Carol laughs.
“Yeah, for all my disorganization at school, I do like to keep my apartment pretty tidy.”
Carol walks over to her desk and picks up your list.
“I think this belongs to you, my darling. We don’t have to do anything with it, or even speak of it again should you so wish that to be the case.”
You bite your lip, considering your options.
“Were you really serious, Carol?”
Your heart is beating fast, and your palms are beginning to grow clammy.
She laughs.
“Of course I was serious, Princess. Why would I offer if I wasn’t?”
You look down, mumbling your answer out.
“I didn’t really think someone like you would ever be interested in someone like me, honestly.”
Carol laughs, walking over to you. She gently tilts your chin up, meeting your eyes.
“Hey. You’re smart, you’re beautiful, and you drive me up a wall when you’re yelling at me to fucking finally read your notes, as you so kindly put it in your own words. Of course I would be interested in a girl like you. You’re incredible.”
She kisses you softly, slipping hers hands underneath your sweater. Breaking away for a second, she whispers to stop her if anything is too much. Green for go, she says. Red for stop.
Her hands roam up your body, making their way up to your neck. She gently squeezes at the column of your throat, whispering in your ear.
“I noticed you had this on your list, Princess. I did read your notes this time, and I did study up. I know all the things that could make you tick. And yet, I still want to hear you tell me what you want. You want me to choke you? Squeeze your throat till you’re begging me to stop?”
“Yes, please,” you moan out.
“Then use your words, Princess. Mmm... and what else should we do today? What other things from your little list do you want to try? I know you don’t want to start off simple... You even said so yourself. Tell me with your words, Princess. Tell me what you want.”
You gasp, head tipping back as Carol’s hands resume their exploration of your body.
“Cat got your tongue, Princess? Normally you’re so vocal during class... Why change now?”
You moan again, unable to speak properly as Carol’s fingers find your nipples, gently pinching. He pinches harder when you are unable to answer her question.
Moving hers hand to cup your jaw, he harshly tilts your face to look at him.
“Answer me, Princess. I’m growing impatient and I don’t have all day. Normally you’re so quick to answer. What a shame.”
“Put me in my place, please,” you gasp out, voice breaking. “I want you to edge me and spank me and punish me and tell me what a naughty little girl I’ve been, touching myself to the thought of you. I want to eat you out while I’m forced to touch myself, unable to cum without your permission. I want you to choke me as you pound me into the mattress with your cock, reminding me of my place. I want to be your good little girl, moaning only your name as you show me who I belong to.”
Carol smirks.
“I’ll be honest—I always knew you had a thing for me. You weren’t exactly discreet. The secret is, I had a thing for you too. I wasn’t expecting you to write about me in your notes, though. And I definitely wasn’t expecting you to write something like that ever. Our little teacher’s pet, our good little girl, the smartest girl in class—and such filthy thoughts! Didn’t take me long to figure out who the mysterious blonde figure was. You wrote some pretty explicit stuff in there, Princess. You’re such a filthy little whore... So many dirty thoughts! Imagine if those notes had fallen into the wrong hands...”
Carol’s hands dip to the edge of your sweater, swiftly pulling it off of your body. She cocks an eyebrow at you upon seeing the lacy navy blue bodysuit underneath that you’d specifically selected for tonight.
“Did you wear this just for me?”
You nod.
“Good girl. I like the way you think. Now, take off those pants for me. While you’re at it, get rid of that lacey little thing. It’s pretty, but you’re prettier.”
You obey her quickly, shedding every stitch of clothing from your body. You’re trembling with excitement and anticipation, and you’re nervous as Carol’s eyes rake up and down your body.
“Stunning,” she says, never taking her eyes off of your body. “You’re absolutely perfect. I can’t wait to teach you how to be a good little slut for me... you’re such a good learner. Wonder if that translates in the bedroom?”
You groan, rolling your eyes. “Why don’t you shut up and find out already?”
Carol laughs condescendingly.
“You sure you want to mouth off like that, Princess?”
You nod. “You seem to be all talk right now, and no action.”
Carol growls. “We can change that. I don’t tolerate brats around here. Brats get punished. If you’re a good girl, you get rewarded. Which is it going to be tonight, Princess. I need an answer.”
You roll your eyes without even thinking. “Just fuck me already, Carol.”
Carol tangles her hand in your hair, pulling your head back. “I told you that brats get punished. It looks like you've selected the brat role tonight. Get on your fucking hands and knees. I’m not going to ask you a second time.”
You quickly obey, scrambling onto your hands and knees. You wiggle your ass slightly, but Carol firmly holds it in place.
“Stop. Now, since this is your first time, I’m going to take it easy on you. We are only going to do ten, but mark my words, if you pull this sort of bratting on me again, I can and will increase that number. Now, I want you to count.”
The first strike comes faster than you were expecting, but it does not hurt as much as you thought it would.
“One,” you gasp out.
Carol strikes again, harder this time.
“Two,” you gasp out again.
He continues, hitting a bit harder each time, and your ass is red by the finish.
“Good girl,” she whispers in the shell of your ear. “You took your first punishment so well for me—it is almost like you were made to do this...”
She ghosts her fingers lightly over your neck, drifting down to your collarbone before moving her hands to gently massage the soft tissue of your breasts.
With a gentle slap to your aching ass, she gives you a new set of instructions.
“Now. For our next lesson, you’re going to suck me off. The better you do, the less edges I’ll give you tonight. I hope you’ve been studying, Princess. Either that, or you just better wish that this comes naturally for you.”
Carol swiftly pulls her pants and boxers down and throws her shirt to the side, revealing her toned abs and muscled back. You can see her muscles ripple as she stretches her arms above her head to take her shirt off. Your jaw goes slightly slack at the sight of her perfect nude figure.
“Close your mouth, Princess. You’ll catch flies.”
You blush. “Sorry, Carol. You’re just so beautiful.”
Carol winks. “I can tell, Princess. Your eyes haven’t left my torso.”
You giggle, but quickly stop when Carol moves directly in front of you.
“Test time, Princess. Hope you’ve studied. But, if you haven’t, I’ll allow for retakes. Think of this one as a pretext, if you will. How much do I need to teach you when it comes to this particular subject?”
You moan at her words, mouth salivating. You’re desperate to touch her, to run your tongue over her strap. Carol leans down to press a quick kiss upon your lips, immediately guiding your face to her strap after. You’re unsure of what to do at first, the feeling foreign upon your tongue. Eventually, you begin to find your rhythm, head bobbing as you introduce a hand to match your rhythm. You continue your tiny kitten licks, timing them with the thrust of your fingers. Carol is silent for the most part, but every so often she breaks her stoic silence with a loud moan or gasp when you hit a particularly sensitive spot against her body. You grind against the pillow that Carol has placed between your legs, annoyed with the lack of friction you got, but thankful to have anything at all. Your tongue continues its way along Carol’s strap, body quivering with pleasure.
It isn’t long before she’s moaning continuously.
After all, you have always been a very quick learner.
Carol pulls away, and you whimper at the loss of contact. She messily kisses you, groaning at the taste of herself on your tongue.
“For your first time, that was surprisingly good.”
You beam in satisfaction.
“However, I’m still going to edge you at least five times.”
You whimper.
“But Carol—“
“No buts, pretty girl. It’s for your own pleasure, alright? It’s good to practice delayed gratification. Now, get over there on the back of the bed for me. Spread those legs as wide as you can. I want that dripping cunt of yours on display.”
You move off of your pillow, following her instructions. Carol walks over to you, hovering over you on the bed as she cages your body with her arms.
“I want to hear every moan you make,” she growls. “Don’t hold back on me, Princess.”
You nod.
“Yes, Carol.”
Carol smiles and strokes a single finger through your dripping folds. You shudder. The feeling of her soft fingertips against your throbbing core is heavenly, and you’re unable to hide from the breathless moan that escapes your mouth.
Carol continues to slide her fingers through the folds of your cunt, relishing in the puffy texture as she explores. Her fingers trace small circles here and there, dipping into your soaking hole when she feels like doing so, pinching your clit, edging you into oblivion.
You ask her to cum numerous times, but she always pulls away. Finally, she pulls away for the last time.
“You can cum this time, Princess. But I want to cum on my cock for me like a good little slut, alright? I want you to scream my name for me. Let the whole world know you’re mine now.”
You nod, moaning at her filthy words. She carefully lines up with you and thrusts in quickly, giving you a chance to adjust to the size and foreign feeling of the cock inside of you.
When you nod at her, she begins to thrust her hips at an ungodly pace, hitting that perfect spot inside of you that makes your eyes roll into the back of your head. She moves one hand to your clit, rubbing tight little circles over the throbbing organ, and her other hand moves to your throat, lightly pressing down. She’s pushing you into the mattress, firmly grinning the column of your neck as her hips thrust faster and faster.
“You like it when I choke you? When your brain starts to go a little bit foggy and you can’t tell if it’s from the sex or lack of air? You like it when I tell you what a good little slut you are, taking my cock like such a good little Princess, showing how well you learn and how well you take instruction?”
“Yes,” you manage to gasp out in between moans. “Please, fuck me harder.”
Although it seemed humanly impossible, Carol managed to fuck you harder. The relentless snap of her hips grew faster, thrusts hitting further and further inside of you each time. The hand rubbing your clit runs faster, harder, and just before you’re about to rip over the edge, Carol whispers in your ear.
“Cum  for me, Princess. Cum like the good little girl you are.”
You scream out in ecstasy as you tip over the edge, collapsing against the mattress. Carol pulls out, falling into bed next to you, wrapping her arms around you as she presses kisses to your neck and collarbone, drifting up to your forehead.
“You did so well, Princess. You’re such a good learner. Looks like you’re just as good in here as you are in a classroom.”
You smile.
“I try my best. Honestly, that’s all I can ever do.”
Carol smiles.
“A good attitude to have. Now, let’s go get you cleaned up.”
A few snacks, some water, and one blissful shower later, you’re dressed in Carol’s old sweatpants and sweatshirt as you climb into bed beside him. She’d invited you to stay the night, and you hadn’t been able to resist. Carol flips the lights off, pressing a delicate, featherlight kiss to your forehead.
As you lay in bed however, you remember an important fact.
“I still have to teach you all of literature,” you mumble.
Carol laughs softly.
“And I have many things to teach you still, darling. But for now, sleep.”
You smile, closing your eyes as you feel Carol’s grip on you grow stronger.
Literature could wait until tomorrow.

“Thor’s basically an alien and he looks like a regular dude,” Tony stated as he tinkered with his newest helmet model, seemingly the most relaxed at what the team might be keeping in their med bay. “Carol Danvers is half alien and looks normal when she’s not glowing,” he continued.
“Neither of those things are true,” Natasha corrected, having talked to the younger captain about her human-kree dna ratio in the past.
“It doesn’t matter if she’s from this planet or not,” Steve said. “What matters is what she’s capable of. What if she has powers like Wanda or a hulk like Bruce that she can’t control?”
“Her name is y/n,” Wanda input. “But you’re right,” she agreed, surprising everyone in the room to hear her say. “What then? Will you send her to S.H.I.E.L.D to lock her up? Will you put another collar on her? You know what happens when people try to control something because they’re afraid of it,” the Sokovian argued adamantly. Natasha couldn’t help but look at her partner with pride as they both stood in your corner. “You can wait for those test results, but I’m going to talk to y/n,” she declared to the room and left no room for anyone to stop her.
“Just let us try,” Natasha added, seeing the discontent on Steve’s face as he watched them both leave and turned his attention back to the records on screen. You had graduated high school five years prior and had been accepted into a university you had never gotten the chance to attend. There were legitimate files of you entering the foster system as a baby and the circumstances of which were unclear but it seemed you’d be abandoned. Natasha had been the one to point out that from Earth or not, you had spent enough time on the planet to at least have the rights of a human.
Meanwhile, you were adjusting to foreign feeling of being more conscious than you could recall being in a significantly long time. The world had a piercingly clear filter placed over it that you had once taken for granted. Still, it was entirely overwhelming when your attention was drawn to every minor aspect of your surroundings that you never would have taken any notice of before. You could have sworn you were able to count how many chemicals went into creating the overly sterile smell that was entrapped in the room with you. You could hear the faint hum of the lights hanging over you like a fly you couldn’t swat away and the brightness that came with it was even worse. What’s more, you could feel the cold breeze coming through the air conditioning that was making the hairs on your arms stand like tiny spikes. The only good thing that came from your reawakened senses was your ability to appreciate just how soft the sheets below you were. You hadn’t stopped bunching them up in your fists ever since you woke up.
It was strange, not being able to remember what it felt like to have full awareness of your surroundings. Unfortunately, the one aspect of your mind that remained was the part you wanted gone the most.
“It’s an improvement,” your stubborn companion told you as he stalked around the edge of the room and inspected everything he laid his orange eyes on. “Just don’t trust them,” he said. You didn’t respond, all too aware of the camera blinking in the corner of the room. You didn’t know who these people were, but you were sure it wouldn’t be ideal if they saw you talking to someone who wasn’t there. You needed to keep that to yourself, at least until you knew what they wanted from you. “And don’t look weak,” he added as he spotted the two women venturing down the corridor towards your room that they stepped into with ease, making you suddenly very aware of how easy it would be to come and go from the room as you pleased. You rubbed your wrists subconsciously where your cuffs had turned them red. No chains either.
Neither of the women were dressed in the usual white coats or tunics you were used to seeing. They wore casual clothing, and carried a similar pair, as though they had invited you into their own home like an abandoned stray they found on the streets. Though neither was standing overly close to you, the subtle scent of oak and vanilla drifted across subtly and was a welcomed change from the smell of chemicals. Combined with the looks of sheer curiosity, they did little to intimidate you and you wondered if that was worth trusting.
“How are you feeling?” The first woman spoke. You couldn’t say for sure, but if you had to guess you would say the women before you were the ones that had taken you from your old room. You swallowed the dryness in your mouth that shifted to your throat and nodded, holding no faith in your inactive voice box to give them an audible response. The redhead seemed to notice and glanced at the full water jug on the table next to you.
“That water’s for you,” she offered, less smiley than the brunette though her sincerity was still present. You nodded again, not about to tell her that thirst was normal ever since you had started being peg fed. Surely they had seen the small tube across your stomach. “And so are the clothes,” she added as she placed them down on the edge of the bed. They looked to be a set of comfortable sweatpants and shirt.
“I’m Wanda, by the way, and this is Natasha,” the brunette chipped in as she sat down in the chair next to your bed. Natasha lingered for a moment before taking the seat next to her. Wanda noticed your hesitancy as you regarded them both. “Don’t worry, she’s not as scary as she looks.” At this, the redhead cracked a smile towards the floor while the bear man grunted in acknowledgment, still wandering the perimeter. “We want to help you, y/n,” Wanda said with a sincerity you really hoped was genuine. You didn’t want to let yourself get too hopeful, nor would your embodied conscious let you, yet the pair brought an undeniably hint of calm upon you that wasn’t artificial for once.
“And to do that we need to know if you have any abilities we should know about,” Natasha added.
“Don’t,” the bear man warned and you had to resist the urge to look at him because you couldn’t answer that question with absolute certainty. You knew that you had done something all those years ago, something bad, but you couldn’t for the life of you figure out what. Of whatever had transpired, you could only remember the screams.
You shook your head but your lying skills were horribly out of practice. “They know,” the draped man said at once and you winced.
“Okay,” Natasha replied as the pair resisted exchanging a glance at your misinformation. They didn’t put it against you, betting they would both have done the same in your situation. Just because you had been taken away from one hell didn’t mean you hadn’t been placed into another.
“Try and get some sleep. We’ll talk again tomorrow,” Natasha continued as she stood up from the chair. Wanda did the same as you looked as though you wanted to say something. You chewed your gums, considering the request you wanted to make. “Is there anything else you need?” The redhead asked.
“Han…handcuffs,” you croaked, barely recognising your own voice.
“What are you doing?” The bear man objected with a fierce glare.
“That’s not necessary,” Wanda insisted, noting how you rubbed your wrists and able to connect the dots.
“Okay,” Natasha said instead, reaching into the drawers kept by the door as her girlfriend shared the bear man’s displeasure. They both stared holes into the back of Natasha’s head as she slipped the cuffs around your left wrist loosely and attached it to the other bed rail and waited for you to offer your other wrist.
“No, Nat-” Wanda frowned at the redhead’s actions, unable to determine where they had stemmed from.
“I’m putting the key here, okay? If you want them taken off you can ask anyone that comes in,” Natasha informed you as she placed the key down on the bedside table just slightly out of your reach.
“Get them off!” The bear man hissed but you paid him no mind as you felt the weight of the cuffs. They were far lighter and looser than what you were used to and you had to tell yourself that it was a good thing. It wasn’t normal to sleep restrained, you knew that, but years of having the habit forced upon you was surprisingly alarming to break once you had the opportunity. Besides, it was going to be your first night sleeping without sedation or high security since… Well, you couldn’t risk the safety of the people that you may owe a great deal to.
“Than’ you,” you muttered, missing how Wanda’s features softened at your relief before following her partner out of the room in silence.
It wasn’t until they made it back to their own room that Natasha finally answered the unasked question that had followed them. “I needed them too after I left the red room,” she said simply. “We had to sleep in cuffs as well,” she added as Wanda listened intently and met her girlfriend’s soft eyes that only ever came out in that room. Wanda didn’t respond immediately, opting to close the distance between them by trailing her hands up Natasha’s arms until they snaked around her neck. “Being in a new place can be scary so sometimes you just need some familiarity.”
“Thank you for telling me,” the brunette murmured gently. Natasha smiled back and brought her lips to Wanda’s in a tender kiss. “I know it’s not easy,” she added, brushing her nose against the Russian’s. “I’m glad you were there, I don’t know if I would have said yes to her,” she admitted. Natasha hummed.
“You want to help her, so do I,” she stated.
“It might be easier said than done,” Wanda said as she considered the weight of what they had taken on. She didn’t regret any of it by any means, but they hadn’t anticipated finding anything like you at that base and weren’t sure how to adapt. Wanda thought she could understand how it felt to be in your place, but seemingly the spy once shared the same mentality you did.
“Undoubtedly, but we’ll figure it out,” Natasha assured as she rested her hands comfortably on Wanda’s waist. “We always do.”

“Have you seen this?” Bruce asked as he picked up the glass slide that held several drops of your blood on before peering over at the small tube that contained the rest, alarmed to find it in the same state.
“Is that y/n’s blood?” Tony picked up the tube and gazed at the blue liquid inquisitively. They hadn’t even started looking at the results of the tests that had just come through before they spotted the bizarre substance. “I don’t remember it being blue when we took it.”
“It wasn’t,” Bruce said with certainty as he ventured over to the computer screens in hopes of getting some answers. “But it’s certainly different.”
  “Radiation maybe?” Tony suggested.
“More like reptile,” the scientist said as he highlighted the most unique traits that the computer identified. “I thought this would give us some answers but now I just have a million more questions,” he huffed as he leant back to examine the screens from a distance. “And I still have no idea what kind of containment we need to prepare.”
“Just don’t mention that around Romanoff and Maximoff,” Tony muttered as his phone chimed in his pocket. It was  a message from Steve, calling both of them to the conference room along with an invitation to join a call between the captain and FuturGenus. It took Tony a second to realise that must be where you had come from and swiftly accepted the call.
“Stark,” he answered as he beckoned Bruce to follow him.
“Mr Stark, I’m glad you could join us,” a corporate voice replied.
“They want y/n back,” Steve was quick to inform, evidently haven talked to the organisation long enough already.
“In the interest of everyone’s safety,” the spokesman added calmly.
“Except y/n’s, right?” Tony said, far past caring for any retributions that would come with being so blunt.
“Gentleman, I don’t think you understand what exactly you are keeping in your home.”
“Then explain it to us,” Bruce interjected as he listened in.
“That’s confidential,” the voice said with a practised ease. “If you hand it- Ms l/n back then we can resume our assessment of-”
“I think y/n can decide where she wants to stay,” Steve said at once. He may not have been the biggest fan of you staying in the base, but there was no way he would willingly hand you back to FuturGenus.
“Very well, you can’t say we never tried,” the spokesman threatened just as Tony and Bruce entered the conference room only for the phone to hang up.
“Please tell me you’ve found something,” the blonde sighed as he pinched the space between his eyes. The scientists looked at each other, only certain of one thing.
  “She’s cold-blooded.”
~
You stared down at the plate on the table over your lap with some scepticism, unsure of what exactly the contents of the meal entailed. You could tell that whoever had prepared and plated the dish had done their best to make it look as appetising as possible, but that was no easy feat to accomplish with the three small piles. One of the doctors, you couldn’t remember her name, had told you she didn’t believe you needed a peg tube anymore as they had no intention of sedating you. That meant you could go back to eating the normal food you had missed but that you needed to ease your body back into it, starting with puree. Once you could show them you could handle it, they would take the tube out.
Fortunately, the food was at least warm, taking your mind momentarily off of the insistent air conditioning that was still giving your goosebumps. You picked up the spoon, stumbling for a few moments as you worked to reawaken your muscle memory and began eating. Maybe it was because it was the first thing that had touched your tastebuds except for blood in years, but it was really fucking good food. The small portion was gone in under a minute.
You hadn’t seen the bear man all morning, a promising sign that he wouldn’t always be by your side or lingering at the front of your mind. It was far more peaceful without him and allowed your attention to continuously be drawn to the window along the wall behind you. It was a panel piece of glass that wouldn’t open and it was only about three feet long but you didn’t mind, glad that it provided you a chance to see the sky outside. There were a few clouds that you had watched pass by gradually, but generally it was a clear day. You used to always make sure you went outside on a day like that, even for a little while, so that you wouldn’t feel too cooped up once the sun went down.
Noticing that the hallway outside of your room was deserted, you moved your covers back with uncertainty, waiting for someone to walk by and demand you get back into bed. Five minutes passed and no one came, so you dropped your bare feet onto the chilled floor and padded along to the window that was too high up for you to lean against but not so much that it was above your chin.
You had no idea where you were, but the building was surrounded by more luscious green than you had ever seen in your life. Just outside was a vast field that looked to be about the size of a football pitch and it was bordered by a dense forest that stretched on for as far as you could see from the third or fourth floor. It was incredible. Your muscles ache to explore everything that you lay your eyes on, while your mind warned of the dangers of leaving. Going out into the world was a luxury you no longer possessed, but it was nice to imagine for a second what it would be like to be out there, unaware of the faint smile that crept onto your lips as you enabled the fantasy.
 You were, somehow, a hazard.
However, not everyone shared that belief.
Natasha was pleased to see you out of bed as she strolled down the corridor to your temporary room. She paused once she reached the door, considering whether or not to leave you alone for a while before deciding that your circumstances didn’t really leave much room for that. The Russian knew that the team was getting angsty over the uncertainty of what you were capable of, even if she didn’t yet know how willing to defend you they were.
Once she turned the door handle, you spun around in a start to face Natasha with wide eyes. “It’s alright,” she assured at once and you visibly calmed upon recognising the redhead. “You can get out of bed. You can come out of the room too if you want,” she continued. “Even outside,” she said even though she knew she shouldn’t. You shook your head, unwilling to risk any harm that Natasha didn’t seem to think you were capable of inducing. She nodded respectfully.
“Mind if I sit?” She asked and it was then that you noticed the pack of playing cards in her hands. Intrigued, you shook your head again. “Wanda’s finishing paperwork from the other day and she’s kind of been kicking my ass at cards lately,” Natasha explained as she began to shuffle through the deck. “You up for a game?” She asked so nonchalantly that you didn’t need to think about it. You didn’t verbally respond, but you went back and perched on the bed with the table between you with clear interest. “Great, do you know Go Fish?”
After Natasha reminded you of the rules of the game, you spent a while playing comfortably. It felt good to be playing a card game again. It felt normal and Natasha treated it as much. She won more than you, not feeling the need to take any pity on how out of practice you were by throwing any of the matches. You had no idea how much time had passed or how many games you had played before Natasha started making comments out of the game as you played.
“How are your wrists?” She asked as they were only a little scratched instead of raw and scabbing.
“Okay,” you said with that same scratchiness that didn’t seem to be going away.
“We should get you some throat soothers,” Natasha quipped when she noticed, earning her a small smile as you continued to look at the cards.
  “Only…eating puree,” you told her.
“Cho said that’s just temporary,” she pointed out. You nodded and placed down a winning card. Natasha huffed and let you take all of the cards to reshuffle them. “Did the cuffs help you sleep?” You glanced at her, weighing the honesty in your mind.
“Yes,” you hesitated. “The bed is…very soft,” you commented and lucky Natasha caught on to what you were implying.
“Too soft,” she finished for you. You nodded. “We can move you somewhere more comfortable.” You slowed the shuffling, considering what another move could mean. “If you don’t like the rooms, you don’t have to stay in them,” Natasha told you simply. You took a chance and looked the spy straight in the eye, hoping you would be able to detect any false promises. Deciding to believe her, you nodded and dealt the cards again. “But we need to know if there are any adaptations we should make.” You didn’t respond. “For any abilities,” she added.
“I don’t know what I can do,” you told her slowly but looked at her as you spoke, hoping that she would know you weren’t lying. “But I know it’s bad.”
“I don’t think so,” Natasha said simply. “I think you’ve just spent long enough being told that to believe it,” she continued, remembering how that felt and how long it could take to be convinced otherwise.
You really hoped she was right.
“Come on, let's find you somewhere better to stay,” Natasha invited as she stood up from the seat. You hesitated, peering down the corridor and considering your options before deciding that risks or not, you wanted to make the most of your compacted freedom.
Natasha concealed a smile of triumph when she saw you slide out of the bed, not wanting to make a big deal out of the small win, and led you down the corridor at a leisurely pace. The redhead pointed out the different rooms and sections of the base to you as you passed even though she knew it took a while to learn the base’s layout, occasionally comparing the building to the tower the team used to reside in. The Avengers had come together shortly after you were taken so you took her word for the comparisons blindly.
You didn’t cross paths with anyone until you reached the rooms. All of the communal areas, kitchens and corridors that you crossed were deserted though Natasha didn’t mention why. You had questioned it as you ventured throughout the building, just never aloud. Truthfully, you had a few questions about the base but figured as they were purely down to curiosity it would be best to keep them to yourself. The main one being, who the hell were these people?
“And these are the rooms,” Natasha announced at the front of two corridors. “The boys are down there but they all have their own homes so they usually just use them for crashing in after missions,” she explained, only giving you more questions. “But me and Wanda stay here,” she said simply, offering no explanation as to why they didn’t feel the need to have a home away from their workplace.
As if she had heard her name being mentioned, Wanda came through the closest door and smiled upon noticing you and Natasha. “That’s our room,” the redhead informed. Oh? Five years in captivity had really thrown off your gaydar.
“Cool,” you muttered, glad you had at least something in common with the two women.
“You can take any of these rooms.” You peered down the corridor, counting five doors in total. Were they all the same? Were some of them safer than others? Maybe it would be best if you went to the end room in case anything happened.
Wanda noted your silent anguish. “The one next to us has a pretty good view,” she told you as she opened up the door in question. You followed on without much convincing and took in the space before you. Judging by the rest of the building, you had half expected it to be much larger than it was but you were relieved to find that wasn’t the case. Similarly, there were no obnoxiously large windows across the walls and they were instead placed at head height and large enough to let a generous amount of natural light in while still giving you privacy. There was a made up double bed in the centre, a desk, ensuite, tv and what you presumed to be a closet. You had never had any of those possessions or amenities before. Now you were being offered them all and you still weren’t sure what it was you needed to do to make your keep or how long they wanted to put you up. Did they just want to keep running tests on you? Did they want to keep you away from the public? Were they hoping to benefit from your mystery abilities? These were questions you couldn’t keep pondering in silence because the anticipation of what was next was killing you.
“What is this place?” You asked slowly as you faced the two women in the doorway.
  “The Avenger’s base?” Natasha answered.
“What’s the Avengers?” You continued when neither showed signs of being irritated by your questioning.
“We’re a team that was brought together to do some good,” the redhead said. “That’s not to say that we all haven’t made mistakes. We’ve all messed up at one point or another, but now we’re trying to use our skills and abilities to fight where we need to and help where we can.”
“Abilities?” You frowned. Natasha glanced at Wanda who lifted her right hand and suddenly produced a small bloom of red flecks that swirled around her fingertips like some kind of lifeform. You didn’t say anything, but your awe was evident by your slightly parted lips and mesmerised gaze. Wanda smiled at your reaction and let the red disperse, planning on showing you more some other time when you might not be so overwhelmed.
“What else?” You asked at once, taking both of them by surprise.
“Steve and Bucky are strong, Sam can fly,” Wanda began to list. “Vision is a robot.”
“Clint can shoot arrows but he claims to be retired,” Natasha added. “Then there are the ones that are more…part time,” she summarised.
  “What about you?” You inquired.
“Spy,” she shrugged nonchalantly and you couldn't help but let a faint smile slip through at the sheer absurdity of it all. Yet you believed every word. There wasn’t much else to go on.
“Right,” you muttered. “And where do I fit into all this?”
“That’s what we want to figure out,” Wanda replied, knowing that it was all a lot to take in. What if you can’t? You wanted to ask but decided against it once you realised you might get an answer you didn’t want.
“Okay,” you settled with, though your shaky exhale wasn’t missed.
“We’ll give you some space,” Wanda said. “But if you need anything you know where we’ll be,” she offered with a sincere smile.
“Thanks,” you said before they closed the door. You gave the room another glance over before heading to the bathroom where you found the compact walk-in shower that you had hoped to discover. Without a moment’s delay, you lay down on the hard plastic floor and tried to focus on the inclusion and faint coolness felt through your clothes. You curled your knees up to your chest and hugged them tight, hoping against all odds that you could provide the Avengers with whatever they were looking for.

"You alone?"
You looked up from your seat at the round table and saw the blue eyes of a blonde you'd never seen before.
She wore a beautiful maroon and blue dress with a gold chest piece. Your dress looked silly in comparison, no matter how much your girlfr- ex girlfriend(?) paid for it.
And she wasn't cheap.
An heiress, some would call her.
Others used the word bitch.
You tore your eyes away from the blonde and gestured to a woman at the bar. Clearly drunk and openly flirting with one of the groomsmen. "Supposed to be with her."
The blonde looked where you pointed, and the curiosity on her face turned into one of disappointment.
Followed by a smirk.
"Well, I'm Carol. Carol Danvers." The blon- Carol switched her champagne flute from her right to her left hand. She extended the right to you when you looked up to her.
"Y/N. Y/N Y/L/N." You shook her hand and were surprised to feel a tight grip. You quickly realized how strong Carol was as you checked out the definition and muscles on her arms. "May I?" Carol pointed to the seat to the left of you. "Go ahead." You said with a smile that Carol reciprocated.
Carol also chose this seat so you'd be facing away from the bitch that left you alone.
You turned away from the bar and towards Carol. "How do you know the couple hosting?" Carol asked. "I don't. My date does."
That made sense. Since Carol noticed you hours earlier, she couldn't figure out how you wound up at a place like this. Surrounded by people whose hands were never clean. Politicians and models. Wall Street bros and CEO's. You stuck out—a ray of innocence and good radiated from you. Kind hearted.
Carol knew it to be true when she saw how awful your date treated you.
"Ah," Carol said as she lifted the glass and took a sip of the golden bubbles. "I hope you don't mind me asking... Who is she? Your date?" Carol set her glass down and looked at you in the eyes. "Oh, her name is-"
"Oh no, I'm sorry." Carol stopped you as she reached a hand out to your arm. "I meant, who is she to you."
It felt like a trick question, like Carol knew the truth.
Carol kept her fingers resting on your arm while waiting for your eyes to meet hers. "She's..."
You sighed.
Carol patted your arm. "Think about it." She removed her touch from you, and you missed her warm fingers.
You watched as they wrapped around the glass of champagne. "If it makes you feel better, I'm not supposed to be here," Carol spoke up with a shrug.
"You're not?" Carol watched your forehead crease when you didn't believe her. "No. I'm here doing a favor for a friend." You looked around the room, and like Carol did with you earlier, you couldn't believe someone like her could be here. "What friend?" You asked, making Carol smile.
"The King of Asgard, Valkyrie." She said casually without hesitation.
"Oh!" You said, surprised and bewildered. "I still have yet to visit New Asgard.." You really have been meaning to, but it's not like money grows on trees for you. "I hear it's lovely."
"It is," Carol replies. "So.." Carol leans closer. "Are you done thinking about my question from earlier? What is she..." Carol gestures to the woman you came here with. "..to you. Because she sure as hell isn't your girlfriend."
You followed Carol's eyes and saw the woman kissing the neck of a man you wouldn't give the time of day.
You turned back and looked at Carol.
You sighed and put both arms on the table in a defeated position. "I was her date for tonight, but no, I've never met her until two days prior when I was introduced by her team. I was hired to help clean up her image, but..." You looked back. "Looks like that's not happening."
Carol hummed. "So you're an escort?"
"Blunt, but yes... that's one word for it." You replied. Carol leaned back into her chair and appreciated the honesty coming from you.
"How much did she pay you?"
You certainly weren't expecting that question, and you couldn't tell by the smirk Carol was hiding behind her glass if she was serious or not.
So you decided to forget about the girl you came with and play the game Carol was hopefully playing.
"Why? Think you can afford me?"
That made the blonde laugh. "I know I can." Her voice was lower as she spoke to you. "But I'm not looking to pay. I want you if you want to come along."
That made something in your stomach twirl.
"And where would we go?"
"Wherever you want. But hopefully far away from here."
You peeled your eyes away from the blonde and looked around the room. It was dreadful and boring. This was presented as a Christmas gala, but it was nothing more than a night to fuck and make business deals to everyone else but you.
You were here for a job, but you were clearly left to your own devices.
Until Carol showed up.
"Okay." You said as you turned back to the blonde and nodded. "Let's get out of here."
Carol's eyes lit up. She watched you stand up and down your glass of champagne before extending your hand to her. Carol did the same with her glass before taking your hand. "Thank you." She smiled as she rose to her feet. "No, thank you!"
Carol led you out of the grand mansion you couldn't for the life of you remember the name of and to the valet kiosk. Carol handed the greying man a ticket stub and wrapped her arm around you as you two waited for his return.
"Is this okay?" She asked, forcing you to look up to her eyes. "Me... touching you? Holding you?" You nodded. "It's great." Carol smiled. "Good to know."
Carol felt your skin become scattered with goosebumps. She thought it might've been from the cold wind in the air, but if asked, you would've been honest and told her it was because of her—the blonde with her hand moving up and down your arm.
She smiled.
You two stood in silence, accepting the comfort the other one brought when the valet pulled up in a black sports car that would never be in your tax bracket.
"What a beautiful car, Miss. Please enjoy your evening." The man said to Caol as he handed her the keys before scurrying away.
She simply smirked and moved her arm from around you to your arm closest to her. "Shall we?" You nodded and let Carol lead you to the passenger door. She opened it for you and let go of you as you entered.
She watched the slit of your dress rise as you sat down in the brown leather seat. Her eyes then traveled down to your legs and the heels that went perfectly with your dress. "Good?" She then asked. "Good." You replied before Carol smiled and closed the door.
You watched her move around the front of the car and slide into the driver's seat. The seat adjusted to her, and you watched the steering wheel move to compliment her. "Wow." Carol turned to your voice.
"Kind of a lot, right?" You shrugged and looked into her blue eyes. "It's kinda cool." You tried to be nonchalant, but you were in awe of everything, and Carol knew it.
Carol hit some buttons on the display in the middle and found a radio station playing a pop hit.
Olivia Rodrigo specifically.
The music was kept at a lower volume as Carol waited for you to buckle up. "Safety first, sweetheart." She said, making your stomach flip at the pet name. "Sorry." You mumbled as your cheeks grew red, and Carol buckled herself up before turning up the heat and placing the car in drive.
"You hungry?" Carol hadn't eaten any of the fancy shit the gala was offering. It was all themed around the holiday, and she knew for a fact that you hadn't had a single bite.
You wanted to lie, but with Carol asking in a honey-dripping tone, and one look at her made you nod. "Starving." You said.
However, food wasn't the first thing you were thinking about eating.
Carol smirked as if she could read your mind.
She removed her right hand from the steering wheel and placed it on your thigh as she kept her eyes on the road. The speed of the car picking up.
Her palms on your skin burned with waves of pleasure. "I'll find somewhere for us," Carol said, making you nod. Carol briefly looked over at you and smiled.
She was loving the game that was being played.
In addition, she loved the touch of you. The feeling of your goosebumps spreading across your body every time her fingers lifted up and down your soft, ample skin.
She was also enjoying you—your company.
Carol never got to do stuff like this.
But she was making the most of tonight.
"Is this still okay?" Carol asked as her hand moved slightly up your thigh. Pushing your dress up. "Yes." You said as you buried a moan in your throat.
"Do I feel good? My touch against your body?" Carol asked as she turned her head to you. She watched your side profile nod and swallow before you parted your pink lips. "You feel so good, Carol."
Her blue eyes found the road again.
"Good, sweetheart." Carol patted your thigh and kept you wanting more. "You're doing so well for me."
You whimpered upon hearing the praises of a woman you just met. "Ah, here we go," Carol said, making you do your best to focus on what was worth pulling off the side of the road.
Surprised, you looked at Carol as she put the car in park.
Carol turned to you.
"What's wrong?" She unbuckled her seatbelt and brought a hand up to your face. Moving a hair behind your ear. "You said you were starving." You leaned into her touch ever so slightly and nodded. "I am."
"Then let's eat." Carol smiled and removed her touch from you again as she climbed out of the car.
You kept your eyes on Carol as she closed the door. You watched her pass in front of the neon 24/7 Diner sign before she made it to your passenger door. She opened it and quickly helped you out. "It's somehow gotten colder. Come on." Her hand and fingers became intertwined with yours as she pulled you to the front of the restaurant.
You two seated yourselves in a booth once you entered like a bunch of giggly teenagers.
There was only the waitstaff and three other patrons inside. You and Carol were obviously dressed the best.
"This definitely beats the Gala," Carol said, making you look up from your menu with a smile. "It does."
Carol placed her elbows on the table and rested her chin on her hand. "Tell me something," Carol said with a teasing smirk. "Are you enjoying how the night has gone?"
You dropped your menu onto the table. "I'm loving it. Thank you."
Carol shook her head. "No, thank you." Her leg rubbed up against yours in a gentle manner. "Now, what are you thinking about having?" Carol's eyes found the menu again, but you stared straight ahead.
Carol knew it.
"They don't have me on the menu." You brushed your leg higher against Carol. "Shame. Because I'd love a taste."
You were bold, and you didn't know where it was coming from, but tonight, with Carol, you felt free. You weren't being paid to be someone else. You felt like a new person. Or maybe it was just you being yourself? Regardless, you loved it.
After a waitress came by, you and Carol Danvers ordered cheeseburgers with a basket of fries and a shake, to split, obviously.
The food was wonderful, and the flirting mixed in with conversation was even better.
The highlight might have been when you showed Carol that you could, in fact, tie a cherry stem into a knot in your mouth. You held it between your teeth with pride as Carol smirked at you and, without warning, connected your lips together. Her tongue swiping the stem out of your mouth and into hers.
When she smiled a few seconds later, the knot was undone, and Carol couldn't help but wink at you.
You felt your stomach flip again.
"Whenever you're ready to leave, we can," Carol said to you, only to earn a nod.
Carol laughed at that and stood up as she placed a stack of uncounted bills from her clutch.
"Okay, so maybe you could afford me for the night." You said, taking Carols' hand as you slid out of the booth. "I told you." She smugly replied as she led you out of the diner.
The cold air catching you off guard, but your grip on Carols' hand remained strong. "Come on." She squeezed your hand and bit back a smile before you two ended up on the driver's side of the car.
Carol held the key in her other hand.
"What?" You asked as Carol looked at your eyes. "You're just beautiful." The blonde said, moving her body to be pressed up against yours.
You stumbled a step back as you found your back up against Carols car.
"Is this still okay?" Carols breath was shaky as she held her lips dangerously close to yours.
In the neon glow of the diner sign, you nodded. "Just kiss me again." Carol held in a moan as she did what you asked. The softness of her lips landed on yours.
You pulled her body closer.
Her hands found your hips and squeezed them, making you squeal in delight. "Fuck Carol!" You laughed into Carols mouth.
"Oh, you're such a pretty girl," Carol replied in a hushed tone as she pushed her front up against you more. Feeling the tremble in your legs and warmth from your pussy.
But the sweetest bit was the taste of chocolate on your lips.
"I want you." You moaned into Carols ear.
Carol couldn't be happier. "I want you too." She kissed your neck, jaw, and lips again.
You bit your lips and looked up at her. "Let's go then." You turned around and pressed your ass against Carol and made a gesture for the car keys, but Carol smiled before laughing. "Oh, no, baby. I don't think so."
You tilted your head as you were still catching your breath. "And why is that?" You opened the car door and waited for Carol's answer.
That's when you watched Carol's hand curl and close around the key. Suddenly, her hand began to glow bright and orange. You couldn't believe what you were seeing, and when she opened her hand again, the key was nothing but a pile.
You waited for an answer.
"Remember that story I told you? About the pilot?"
Carol tilted her hand, and you both watched the remnants of the key fall to the asphalt.
You looked up to Carol and thought back to the story she told you across the booth earlier. "So it was you? You have powers?" Carol nodded and made her hands glow again. "What about your car?" You asked honestly.
"The car and cash were never mine." The glow from her hands faded as she stepped into space between your legs. "It was your awful heiress of a date."
Carol touched the top of your head and ran her hand down the side of your face. "I think you and I had a better time than you would with her." She purrs as she kisses your cheek. "Don't you think?"
You nod and move your lips to brush hers. "I do." You find Carol's hands and hold them. "I can work with this."
"Are you sure?"
Carol asks, even though both want this.
"Yes."
Carol kisses you and pulls you close. "Hold on to me." You wrap your arms tightly around Carol's body, and slowly, you feel your feet leave the ground. "Keep your eyes on me," Carol said, and when you looked at her, you saw that her dress had changed into a suit.
One a superhero would wear.
"You brought us back..." You whispered into the space between the two of you. She heard you.
You watched as Carol glowed brighter, and the speed at which you two were flying increased.
_
You and Carol slept together that night, and you remember the feeling of warmth when you woke up next to her and a cat named Goose in the bed on her spaceship.
That was five months ago, and as you watch Carol fly down to a planet below, you can't help but smile.
You weren't alone.

Carol Danvers x reader - always a little jealous
Tumblr media
Heyyy OMG I love reading your works so much. I admire you for having the time and inclination to write so much of it. I'm always busy, but when I have time, I lose inspiration for anything 😭. I have a request for Danvers x reader. How about we switch roles now and make Carol jealous of the reader, pleasee. As I already said, I love your works and I would be happy if you wrote it with willingness and inspiration 💖 because I wouldn't want you to be too busy. Have a nice evening/day depending on when you read this 😘🥰 - Anon💜
Hand in hand with your girlfriend, you smiled up a little at her before turning back to the beach in front of you.
“When do you have to go again?” You asked.
Carol sighed softly, giving you hand a small squeeze.
“In a couple of weeks, I don’t know when I’ll be back I’m sorry.”
“It’s alright, I understand. You do important stuff.”
Carol turned you to face her, and she placed her hand on your cheek.
“You’re the most important aspect of my life, you know that right?”
“Of course I do sweetheart.”
Leaning forward, you kissed her cheek and leant into her so you could go back to watching the beach.
You loved watching the water, and with everything going in space and the universe, it was relaxing for her to just stand there.
No aliens.
No wars.
Just you.
The beach.
The slowly setting sun.
It was these moments that helped her get through everything.
Carol stood behind you, wrapping her arms around your waist, her chin resting on your shoulder.
“What’ll you do while I’m away?”
“I’ll probably just work, though I got a holiday with Benny soon.”
“Benny?”
“Yeah, you remember my friend at work?”
You felt Carol nod her head.
“Yeah it’s him, we’re both heading to France for a week.”
“France? Really?”
You turned around, leaning against the railing and you looked at her, raising a brow in question.
“What’s wrong with France?”
“You’re going on a holiday with your friend to one of the most romantic counties?”
“Oh my god Carol, we’re just going skiing.”
You ducked under her arms, going to the railing you sat on the ground and dropped under it into the sand.
“Hey! Don’t run!”
Carol climbed over and jumped down, jogging over to catch up to you.
“But why France? That’s our thing…”
“Cause it’s one of the best ski resorts we could find, plus we’re going to do some exploring.”
“But that’s our thing, plus he hits on you.”
You looked at her.
“Carol, Benny doesn’t hit on me.”
She stood in front of you, stopping you from walking away from her.
“He hugs you all the time, gets as close as he can to you, he’s always complimenting you. He kissed your cheek the other day in front of me…” she grumbled.
“Yeah, that’s normal you know that.”
Carol walked over to you, walking behind you she wrapped her arms around your waist, resting her chin on your shoulder.
“But you’re not his, you’re mine… I’m dating you now him…”
“I’m yours?” You laughed slightly.
“Uh huh…”
Carol placed a kiss on your shoulder then one on your cheek, holding you a little tighter.
“I don’t appreciate people trying to take you away…”
“Carol?”
She hummed.
You rested your head on hers.
“He’s gay sweetheart.”
“Oh…”
You laughed, turning in her arms so you could look at her.
Carol grinned a little bit at you.
“You are so jealous!” You laughed loudly.
“I am not…” she grumbled.
Leaning forward, you softly kissed her before pulling away.
“It’s okay to be jealous.”
“I’m not jealous…”
“You’re jealous of a gay guy.”
Carol placed her forehead against yours, and you smiled a little bit.
“So jealous…”
“Shut up…”
You laughed, and leant forward to kiss her again before pulling away.
You tired to wonder off but Carol took your hand, holding it in hers so you couldn’t walk away.
She was definitely jealous but she wasn’t going to admit that, but you knew despite knowing about Benny she was still going to be jealous

I have never felt more connected to Carol than in The Marvels. In the first movie, the main thing that drew me in was the scene where a man told her to give him a smile and she just brushed it off, because that very same thing happened to me years before Captain Marvel. I was in a public transport, minding my own business, when a man suddenly came up to me and said, “what’s with the long face? How about a smile?” I just gave him a stink eye and ignored his bullshit but believe when I say all I really wanted to do was what Carol did in the deleted scene. This shit happens irl and for men to think that Carol breaking The Don’s hand was over the top was just mildly infuriating.
And then The Marvels happened.
I’ve seen the movie twice now, and despite its flaws and a couple of loopholes, what struck me was how Carol deal with the challenges and emotions, and not wanting people to see her vulnerable side. I’ve never seen any superhero in the Marvel universe that is deeply flawed and relatable as Carol. She was intimidating and somewhat introverted, yet funny, smart and brave.
I especially liked the tender moments between her and Monica, and her and Maria. Those scenes hit me like a motherfucker.
When Monica had that look in WandaVision about not wanting to talk about Carol, it puzzled me what happened between these two that made it seem like she hated Carol. So when she finally confronted Carol in The Marvels about Carol breaking her promise, it just made me think about my own parents. About how they kept saying they—my family—will always be there for me, yet never fails to leave me hanging when things get tough. When Monica repeated to Carol what she promised her when she was a little girl it broke my heart because I could totally see that little girl still hurting over the fact that the person she looked up to growing up weren’t even there when she came back after the blip. But then we panned to the next scene, explaining what really went down between Carol and Maria.
I lost my mother to cancer as well, so seeing this scene for the first time really put tears on my face. The way Brie’s voice cracks as she delivers Carol’s line, as well as how she wants to appear tough for Maria was so heartbreaking. It made me appreciate Carol Danvers more. In the first movie, one of people’s complaints about Captain Marvel was how “stoic” and “wooden” Brie’s acting was—which, let’s all be honest here, was a total lie because that’s exactly how Vers should be: devoid of emotions—The Marvels perfectly showed Carol’s human side. And if you can’t see that just based on these two scenes alone, then perhaps you’re right, The Marvels is not for you.
With the movie not doing as well as we wanted it to do in the box office, I wouldn’t be surprised if Brie tries to avoid doing any more movies with them (unless, of course, she signed a five movie deal or sth), but I hope she’ll come back for future marvel movies. She’s perfect as Captain Marvel and I can’t wait to see what Carol Danvers does next.

I'll Be Home for Christmas
Tumblr media
Summary: You loved November, well to be more acurate you loved when Thanksgiving was over so you could start celebrating Christmas. Since it was your first Christmas with your girlfriend, you wanted it to be a good one but her Avengers take her away. Will she be back for the holidays?
Note: Look I know it's still November BUT Thanksgiving is techincally over for me so I say we can start posting Christmas one shots. I have more planned so hope you enjoy them!
Warning: fluff, angst with a happy ending
Word count: 2k
November was your favorite month. It was not because you liked Thanksgiving but because it was the Christmas season kick-off. The Christmas decorations came out as soon as everyone ate food and left. You were doing that while your girlfriend of 6 months was putting the rest of the food away. It was your first Christmas with Carol, and you were determined to make it good. While you were climbing down the attic stairs with the start of your decorations, your foot slipped, and you yelped as you fell off the ladder. Before you landed on the ground, Carol caught you in her arms. “Awe, how cute, you are still falling for me,” she smirked. You blushed but rolled your eyes.
“Don’t flatter yourself, Danvers,” you said, putting your feet on the ground. “But I do appreciate the save, Captain Marvel.” It was her turn to roll her eyes. You kissed her cheek before walking into the living room.
“How many more boxes do you have?” She asked; the sound of her socked-covered feet following you. You clicked your tongue on the roof of your mouth as you thought. You’ve downsized over the years. The Brooklyn brownstone was your grandmother’s that you inherited when she passed away. The woman loved Christmas more than you did. It was your priority when you moved into the place. You kept the sentimental pieces, gave some to your parents and siblings, and donated the rest. The woman had an unhealthy obsession with Christmas gnomes.
“Probably eight plus the tree,” your girlfriend made a noise in the back of her throat as you placed the tote near the couch. Spinning around, you put on your best smile and puppy dog eyes. “Can you grab the rest of them, darling?” You asked, stepping closer and placing a hand on her chest. The captain rolled her eyes.
“What’s in it for me?”
“My undying love and affection.” She scuffed and pushed you away slightly.
“I thought I already had that,” she said, walking back toward the attic.
“You do,” you called after her. “But now it’s Christmas-themed.” The sound of Carol’s laughter echoed against the wall, and it made you smile.
*
“Baby,” you were being gently rocked awake. “Baby, wake up.” You groaned, burying your face deeper into the pillow. The action caused your girlfriend to chuckle. “I know, but I need to see those beautiful eyes.” Mustering strength, you turned to face your girlfriend and opened your eyes. Carol wore a white muscle shirt, and her suit was loosely tied around her waist. She looked hot; any other time, you could compliment her on your looks, but your brain wasn’t at total capacity.
“You’re leaving,” you sat up, and the blanket that protected you from the coldness of the room fell. Carol nodded.
“Just got the call,” she said. “I’m needed in space.” The pout that appeared on your face wasn’t intentional. During the day, you were better at hiding your disappointment when her duties as Captain Marvel took her away from you. “I know,” She quickly placed her hand behind your head and connected her lips with yours. The kiss was slow as she savored the taste of you. No matter how often you kissed Carol, your heart seemed to drop. She pulled away a little too soon for your liking.
“How long will you be gone?” You asked.
“I don’t know,” she admitted. “But I will be home for Christmas.”
“Promise?” In the back of your mind, you knew having her make such a promise was harsh and a little unfair. The line of work was unpredictable. But she smiled, kissed you again, and without speaking a single word, she promised to be back in time for Christmas.
*
“You look hot,” you rolled your eyes at the archer as you applied your lipstick. Kate had your love for Christmas, so when she got two tickets to Radio City Christmas Spectacular, you were her first call. Kate was the reason you met the Avengers and Carol. She was a regular at a coffee shop your family-owned. Although you were a few years older than the girl, you became close friends. Wildly, when her one-eyed Golden Retriever rushed into the shop and pushed down a display of mugs, her girlfriend always wanted to remind her of the story.
So, the two of you were having a full-blown Christmas day—a trip to Bryant Park, some Christmas shopping, dinner, and now the show. “Give me your phone,” she took it before you gave her your consent. “Have to capture this so you send it to Carol,” you faced the archer so she could take a few solo pictures and then a selfie. “Ready to go?” You grabbed your bag and coat.
“I am,” While you walked out of her apartment to grab a cap, you sent a picture to Carol.
“So I’m thinking after the show, we grab drinks.” A cab pulled up, and you got in the back. Kate told the driver where to go. You chuckled.
“Do you have an off switch?” She punched you playfully on the shoulder.
“Hey, going out is better than sulking in your home because you miss your girlfriend,” you huffed and crossed your arms.
“I have not been sulking,” you defended. It has been a week since Carol left. You’ve kept busy, spending hours at the coffee shop until your parents told you to go home. But your Brooklyn brownstone was too quiet, too cold, even with all the Christmas decorations you and Carol put up. As the driver pulled up to Radio City, your phone dinged. It was Carol.
‘You look beautiful,’ Another ding. ‘I’ll be home for Christmas.’
*
“I don’t like grocery shopping,” you said into your headphones. Carol laughed. She had some downtime and asked if she could call. It happened while you were grocery shopping for last-minute baking essentials. You and Wanda were making Christmas cookies, probably enough to feed a small army. The witch could wave her hand, and the cookies would appear, but that would go against the Christmas spirit.
“Well, it is December and the busiest time of the year,” you rolled your eyes even though she couldn’t see you. “Don’t roll your eyes at me.” You huffed, grabbing a few bags of chocolate chips. “I am sad. I miss your baking.” You smiled, knowing that wasn’t a lie. Whenever you had to try out a new recipe for the coffee shop, Carol was there to try it out.
“If you give me an address, I’ll mail you some,” Carol laughed. The sound always made your insides go warm and gooey. “I miss you.” She sighed.
“I miss you too, baby, but have fun with Wanda and send me pictures.” You agreed, hung up, and walked over to the register.
*
“WANDA!” You shirked as the witch dumped flour onto you. You made one little joke about her and Vision, and she turned to her witchy powers for revenge. Her magic grabbed onto a cup of flour you were measuring and dumped it on you. The Sokovian laughed. “Oh, you are so on, Maximoff.” You grabbed onto the bag and chased the Avenger around the shared kitchen. It was only a short time before the kitchen, you, and her were covered in flour.
“Children,” you froze at the Black Widow’s voice. Natasha was smirking and holding her phone to capture the scene before her. “I thought we were making cookies, not a mess.” She put her phone down.
“We are,” you defended. “We were taking a break.” The redhead pinched the bridge of her nose.
“Just clean it up.”
“Aye, aye, captain,” Wanda giggled and summoned a broom of you to use. You took it from her.
“This is your fault,” you mumbled and began to sweep the floor. Wanda whipped down the counters. The ding of your phone interrupted the soft Christmas music playing. You placed the broom against the counter and picked it up.
‘I thought you were making cookies,’ Carol sent you the video Natasha took of you and Wanda. ‘Looks like you are having fun.’ You smiled. ‘I’ll be home for Christmas. You can count on me.’
*
“If you fall,” Yelena said, sitting beside you on the bench. “I will laugh and then ask if you are okay.” You laughed.
“Thanks, I appreciate it,” you put on your ice shakes and tied them tight. “I used to play hockey when I was younger.” The sport ran deep in your family. Your siblings, father, and grandparents played it. Every Christmas, your family would go out and play. But an injury to your right knee forced you to stop playing. You were devastated.
“Yes, but you are going ice skating with two Russians. You will still look like a foul.”
“Thanks, Belova,” you sighed. “What happens when your girlfriend falls?” The blonde smirked, but her green eyes showed a fondness for them.
“I will also laugh.”
“I heard that!” The archer sat on your other side to put her skates on. “You are awful.” The blonde merely shrugged her shoulders. You wanted to go ice skating, but going alone was less fun. A quick text to Kate: she got a small group to join you on your adventure. It was a beautiful day in Central Park, perfect to hit the ice.
You walked over to the ring and slid onto the ice. Ice skating was freeing—the wind through your hair and the crisp air that filled your lungs. Every worry in your mind was gone, and you felt at peace.
Your phone vibrating in your pocket caused you to move towards the edge of the ring. ‘I wish I were there,’ Carol sent you a picture she received. ‘You look so peaceful. Please have snow and mistletoe and presents by the tree.'
*
It was Christmas Eve. Tony always liked to throw a party, especially for the holidays. You were still recovering from the hangover you received from Halloween. So you were sipping on a mocktail that Maria made. The party was in full swing, with Avengers, politicians, and agents dancing to the music or eating the food provided. You stayed off to the side and watched the party around you. “Not having fun,” Natasha said, standing next to you.
“No, I am,” you sighed. “Just-”
“Missing your girlfriend?” She suggested. You nodded, staring into the red liquid. “She said she’ll be back, right?”
“Yeah, not going to hold my breath,” you pushed yourself off the wall and maneuvered your way through the party to a balcony. The crisp winter air caused goosebumps to cover your arms. You shouldn’t be disappointed; being with an Avenger was hard, and it was a life you signed up for. There were moments you wished Carol wasn’t part of the team because she was missing so much on Earth, not just with you but with her friends. Sighing, you rested your arms on the metal railing.
“You know,” you spun around at the sudden voice. Carol landed on the balcony, still in her uniform. “You are going to get sick standing out here.” She was here. Carol was here and in front of you. Right? Your eyes weren’t fouling you.
“Cutting it a little close,” you chuckled.
“I like to keep you on your toes,” she smiled. “Besides, isn’t it in the song?” You raised a questioning eyebrow at her. “Some Christmas fan you are,” she cleared her voice. “Christmas Eve will find me,” she sang and held out her hand. “Where the love light gleams,” you took her hand. She was always so warm. It was perfect for the colder weather. "I'll be home for Christmas."
"You are such a sap," you jumped into arms, and she held onto you right. You felt her let out a shaky breath. "I missed you so much." You whispered against her skin.
"Missed you too, baby," she kissed your head. "Merry Christmas."
"Merry Christmas."
