Neuvillette’s biggest insecurity is not something he's ever tried to hide. Anyone that has spent enough time with the Iudex has probably heard him mention it before. Simply put, Neuvillette doesn't understand the emotions of humans very well. He never has and sometimes he doubts if he ever will? How many times has this flaw of his costed him dearly in the past? How many mistakes has he made? And how many are there yet to come? How he dreads the thought.

What can’t you trust [Neuvillette] with?

To chase after you - Iudex Neuvillette is many things—polite, kind, intelligent—but he is not a man without faults. Only a few know him well enough to realize he holds many regrets upon his shoulders, majority that were never his burden alone to bear. Should you ever become the source of one of these regrets, you can surely expect to know. With somber eyes and a weight upon his shoulders, he will apologize to you. But don’t expect anymore than that. Not understanding human emotions is not only his weakness, but a prison. He will not attempt to make things up to you nor will he try to make things how they used to be. You’re best off where he can hurt you no more, even if that means he will be left alone to the rain.

What can’t you trust Zhongli with?

With mora - As knowledgeable and talented Zhongli is with many things, it is a surprise to many to hear that businessmen don’t exactly enjoy making deals with him. How can they when contract discussions always leave them with the [shorter end of the stick]? How many [unforeseen business expenses] do they end up incurring in such a short amount of time? In the end, they always lose more than they gained. What they don’t know is this unfortunate occurrence happens with any Mora dealings with the man. But what can you expect for someone that, by contract, has the Traveler liable for all expenses during his outings with them? It's simply best to leave all matters of mora out of any relationships with him.

With your heart - If there's one thing true about Zhongli, it's that, while he may withhold the truth, he does not lie. So when he speaks of a person warmly, they can very well believe his words to be true. That being said, it is important that one does not mistaken his warmth with depth. One cannot simply entrust their heart to him and expect his in return. How could anyone hope to understand the weight of many a millennia, after all? So while the desire may be cute, it'll never be something he would even consider to reciprocate.

HI. WELCOME TO THE CLUB, watch the trigger warnings. but yeah, revolutionary girl utena veers more and more towards surrealism the further you get into the series. it often and voluntarily forfeits narrative/logical consistency in favor of visual storytelling, metaphors and symbolism. i was just talking about it with nic the other day, and if the story weren't so harrowing, i would recommend it to everyone who wants to get into literary analysis, because it is SO packed with symbolism EVERYWHERE that it actually encourages you to try to decode it.

whatever you think utena is about, it is NOT. you can't go in and treat it like your 49293th classical shoujo. utena is a firework show of visual symbolism and it very rarely, if ever, explains itself to the viewer. it refuses to handhold you, but it never berates you for trying and getting it wrong either. there is SO much handholding in modern day media, but utena trusts its viewer to take away something meaningful from itself and to piece its message together on their own. it's one of my favourite pieces of media of all time just for that

#it's almost closer to a poem and to poetry than to a story in the sense that we think think about today #you see why ye standard transformative fandom was never able to take hold with utena?#my suggestion is try to actively analyze what's going on and the symbols presented to you as you go along #find recurring motifs. utena deals a LOT with cycles and repetition (they were playing into their budget limitations and did it brilliantly #what objects keep returning. what characters are they associated with. how do they relate to the irl systems of power the story criticizes #what does the white rose mean #^ had a lot of fun trying to figure that one out. i landed on something other people in the fandom also got but then nic told me his take #and yeah they basically pried my third eye open with a crowbar.#this anime made me want to try out symbolism and allegories in my own works #it's so fucking good #but hey if you finish it and still feel like you didn't get 90% of that you can go to nic metanarrates' blog and check out his rgu tag #basically 50% of the fandom posts are visual and narrative analysis. the other 10% is breathtaking art. the remaining 40% is memes #BUT! wait until you're finished..watch for spoilers #rgu #answered asks

D'arce?

D'arce! An interesting choice!

Full analysis/rant/whatever will be under the cut

First impressions of the boob armor aside, D'arce is a character who really grows on you. She was initially very nothing to me, but (shrek voice) like an onion, she's got them damn layers, and you gotta look at her endings to really realize they're there.

People make fun of her for being a Le'garde simp, but, like, she's more than that. There's a REASON for her wanting to rip his foreskin off, and that's due to a combination of her feeling powerless in her life pre Le'gard and him giving her a sense of purpose and security that she is completely listless without. She'd be like that even if she didn't like him, I'm just sayin.

But D'arce isn't just the man she's associated with, she's her own damn human being and this barbie is an imperialist! Miss dominating soul, and all. The way she and Enki serve as foils for the two ways Alll-Mer worship is practiced in F&H intrigues me deeply. Public vs underground. Populace vs priest. Her faith gives her a means to survive and a sense of morality, but since this Jesus expy is full on a vengence god her mostly complete dismissal of those who go against her faith makes even more sense in this universe than in ours LMAO. Don't trust her around the girl though, she's one bad opium trip away from dropping her ass off a cliff after she realizes Her Origins.

It's for this that D'arce/Enki is growing on me. It wouldn't be a standard relationship, heaven's no, but it has potential, and that's the important part of things like this. They can bond over being guys who'd participate in a crucifixion together.

I don't really have D'arce pairings I'm against, besides squick stuff and crack that don't make much sense.

Anyway, my ideas of D'arce's sexuality fluctuate between "who fucking cares" and "lesbian who latched onto the most feminine man she could find and justified that", so... I'm up to different ideas!

I don't have any fics planned with miss D'arce, but I could do a character piece on her justice complex probably.

But yes. D'arce is a gaurd dog to me. You train her right and she'll die for anyone and any cause, a trait that both serves her well and drives her to absolutely insane extremes. Love her every day.

What do you think of Lamari (Laios and Namari)? Both as a ship and the relationship between the two.

I don’t like it sorry broski 😔 Seeing them interacting in ep 9 again made me see the appeal more, it’s cute how they interact, how they trust each other’s abilities and judgement! But ship wise…… I can’t. I’ve been seeing cute fanart of them around though, and I know a few people on discord that like them too. Like hmmm I guess I can see the appeal in the dynamic even if it doesn’t grab me but I can’t form a narrative for them… Usually I need both to truly get into a ship, a dynamic I find fun or interesting + some sort of progression and impact it’d leave on the characters, I don’t really see the character/relationship arc that’d happen, or at least not one eventful enough for me. When it comes to how I think their relationship is during canon, I see it as being professional and hinting at maybe friends, a neutral rather than negative thing mind you.

With Laios, well I’ve spoken about his character and arc before a bunch, but with Namari the part that interests me most is the whole exile thing, how she works hard to fit in both with keeping a good work reputation and shaving, for example, and how she’s not all that good with it because of presumably her bold personality... Because of this and more, and spoilers but I’ve planning on making a rarepair post about it for a while, I like shipping her with Toshiro mainly. I think that she balances out his doormat tendency but his cool attitude would be soothing and grounding and- Well gdbdgdg you see how it is. And to a certain extent I can see why people would want to apply the same logic to lamari, but… I don’t even think Namari and Laios would be able to bond over both being foreigners much tbh, I feel like Laios would sort of remain an odd mystery to her and though they could connect in a weird roundabout way I don’t think they’d exactly understand each other— and see this is the part of lamari appeal I get, the sort of tentative tension of "oh you actually respect me. That feels… Rare. And nice." Thouuugh like I was saying to be fair, it’s true Laios also tries and fails to fit in so that could be an interesting angle to go at it with. I think Namari wants stability and I just don’t really think it complements Laios well. I think trust’s the most important thing with Laios so on his side him liking her enough to be interested or open to a relationship I could see, though in a kinda mild and dry way imo… Like with Laios especially when defining how he and someone fall in love, there are sort of two modes right, and of course these coexist to some degree, but there’s Laios being his partner’s silly goober, and there’s Laios being very mature, more of his subdued stoic but composed self, all king-like, the more like connecting through meaningful conversations side. And idk how to put it into words but with lamari, I feel like Namari being paired with him doesn’t give a fresh spin on the former, and with the latter I feel like they’d always keep missing each other halfway communication wise, I don’t see them ever getting to that level where they deeply intuitively know and understand each other and how they work, maybe Laios -> Namari yes but Namari -> Laios I don’t see it, like I said I think it’d remain like, a mystery that nags at her and she might feel attracted if anything, but I can’t see them as more than casually dating idkk idk.

Namari has that fun ‘gets fired up about what odd things Laios is doing and reigns him back in’ dynamic but it’s something that literally so many other characters have too. I’m not knee deep into Namari yet so who knows maybe I have a wrong angle, but I did start giving her some thoughts bc I have a fic I have in mind for toshimari I wanna do. But yes it’s cute how protective she can get even if it’s shouty or tough love, like how she looks out for Laios’ equipment and for him not to get scammed, or brings in Toshiro here in the convo because she doesn’t want Toshiro to do his conflict avoidance thing and not stand up for himself & stay in the party even if it sucks hah. That bold borderline rude protective personality of hers with that awkwardness with intimacy/non-professional relationships is what’s unique to her I think, but yeah the laios & namari duo strikes me as strangely distant yet strangely interested coworkers who exhange glances over the cashier desk but personally I can’t see myself doing anything with that.

I’m not here to say it’s a bad ship or anything obviously! It just really doesn’t call to me personally and I don’t see stuff with them that I’d find interesting to analyze, if anything it’d involve the wider party a lot. I do want to make a masterpost on Laios’ career history and the old members of his party so I might analyze how Namari and he interact in those pre-canon comics idk. But yeahh like I find nothing to dig deeper at personally, you could make cute fics of them hinting at interest between the two, if Laios went to get drinks with her at a tavern etc etc, but all I see with them is just what canon straightforwardly showed us and I don’t get the urge to explore the possibility of them at all.

Sorry to disappoint, but yeah I won’t be a good source of lamari content or thoughts. I have wayy too many drafts I actually want to get out so I’ll be storing further Laios & Namari analysis for a big maybe, one day. I feel so bad I really hate to be negative at all and as a fellow rareshipper I send u my best wishes truly, good luck y’all deserve fellow stans and content. He’s so wonderfully comfortable with himself and his flaws. Well I mean he’s an awkward dork, but still. Of course he’s downplaying his own trauma since that’s how he rolls, but overall he’s having an alright time while causing huge problems for everyone else lol

Well, how do you think he feels? GE Saeran isn't proud of what he's done. There is no reason to make light of this or feel embarrassed about what the bite was because it's not something he's proud of doing. It was a contrite method of trying to beat you down and make you feel like you were less of a person so that he could stand strong.

You learn this throughout your time with him, and it's pointedly said by yourself, Saeran, and Rika that his power play is his attempt to try and maintain his "strength" in a way that isn't ever going to work. He "needs someone to be small so he feels strong", remember when you and Rika are talking about him in a shared chat?

You're supposed to be someone who can see through his horrible attempt at trying to be himself through pain and hatred. You have a sense of self-awareness of what's truly happening to Ray and Saeran at large and you don't hesitate to let Rika know you've seen through every blinder Mint Eye uses.

You're supposed to see through the cracks of his mask and realize he is in pain just like Ray was. You're supposed to be upset with him but understand that turning hatred and pain back onto him isn't what he needs. That's why you're able to forgive him, even though his words and actions were painful. You understand why he became the way he was and decided to give him a second chance to prove himself to be the man he wants to be.

You're a bright person who Saeran can't believe would ever want in their life ever again. You are a blessing, and he feels like a monster for what he did to you. He is haunted by those actions every day, even as he begins to heal and move on from Mint Eye. He doesn't forget the things that Ray and Suit Saeran did in an attempt to gain power and control over you. Free will is what he needs, and it's what you need as well.

It didn't make him feel better and now every time he looks at that lingering mark on your throat right after you escape Mint Eye, he feels nothing but guilt and shame. He did that to you out of malice and discontent. He feels remorseful that he did something without your explicit consent. While it isn't the same question when you tell him that you remember that day you went without food, he says:

I understand "it's funny" to make light of this because he bit you in a way that makes people want to go "omg kinky!". Many people want to act like this is intimately romantic but in this context—it's not—and nobody should think of it that way. Saeran doesn't think of the bite in that way. He never will.

I implore people to please think about what the source material says when it comes to GE Saeran's feelings about the things he did as Ray and Suit Saeran. Please. He says this stuff plenty and I would pray to God that most of you can see how horrible he feels about everything that happened. He can't even forgive himself until he decides that he wants to forgive everyone who hurt him, so he can learn how to look in the mirror... and forgive himself.

Hello!! I'm always down for asks, thanks for sending this one!! (o^▽^o) 3. screenshot or description of the worst take you've seen on tumblr Oh god there's this one take I've seen a year or two ago that still makes me lose my mind lol! Basically it was a post talking about how no one understands the point of the joke "Dead Dove, Do Not Eat" and how it's not supposed to be "what's on the tin" but the absurdity of someone putting a dove in a fridge, and THAT was why it was a joke. Fam, do you not know the next line? "I don't know what I expected", dead dove note on a bag -> dead dove in the bag! That's the joke!! That's why we use it in fic to be an extra label (Aka, mind the tags, product may contain peanuts, etc.) tbh, funniest bad take I've seen in a while tho

10. worst part of fanon Found. Family. It went from one of my most favorite tropes ever, to the one that makes me roll my eye the hardest. People can be close without calling each other family, they're allowed to be friends (Like hell I'm calling one of my old professors my "dad" or "weird uncle", or "mom" or "vodka aunt" we're JUST friends). I also don't like how it all just defaults to a nuclear family set of roles, like there has to be two parents, some kids, and then everyone else is somehow a cousin. I've been getting into GOT/HOtD lately, and damn THOSE family lines are easier to follow than some of the shit that gets passed off as "FAMILY DO NOT SEPARATE OR WE WILL SEND DEATH THREATS!!" And to harp on that second point, it just brings so much wank! I have a friend who made a super SUPER niche DGS ship, and no one ever said these characters were family before they started posting about it-- but one of the characters is often headcanoned to be a lesbian (which, yeah, I'm basic, I also hc the same), so when this "rival" ship came about, it was suddenly "fOuNd FaMiLy". Mostly, I just roll my eyes now at this trope, which is sad because it can be so beautiful. Family really can be a bunch of people you find, and it doesn't need labels!! to summarize: Fuck the concept of the nuclear family, all the homies hate the concept of the nuclear family

12. the unpopular character that you actually like and why more people should like them

Seishirou Jigoku, he's big and dumb and beefy, pure babygirl <3 But in all seriousness, he is such a fascinating character to me! He really seems like the kind of person who could have done good things in his own little sector, totally inconsequential and mundane, but good. I think he shares a lot of the same characteristics as Genshin and Yujin, optimistic and a bit patriotic. I like to think that he was pretty close with Yujin, it was HIM that convinced the latter to go on the trip after the death of Ayame after all! I just love to think about him so much, how he is with those around them. When it's just him as the judge, he's calm and collected, serious and gets the job done. With Yujin (And I presume with Genshin as well), he's jovial, a little bit goofy and all around enjoyable to be around However, with Stronghart, he twists in on himself, and he leads himself to hell. They say the road to hell is paved with good intentions, and I think that really does describe his character so well! He wanted to change the court system in his home, to make it brilliant, but he had to eventually do the unthinkable that fateful night in the cemetery <//3 At the end of the day, he's a small and bitter man... See, he's so interesting!! Prompts here!

Octavian is probably the most fleshed out villain in Poptropica. His intentions were good, he was trying to prevent the disasters throughout history to make a perfect world, but he didn't realize messing with the timeline would lead to more unknown disasters, and he killed many innocent people to do it. So he's not 100% a bad guy, but he's still a villain since he messed everything up and killed many people.

Octavian is basically the Thanos of Poptropica.

A villain with good intentions and a sympathetic backstory, but who had committed many atrocities in order to create a perfect world (or universe), and believe they are 100% right.

Oh, and they both got f**ked up in the end. (Thanos being erased, and Octavian being split into millions of pieces and scattered across the multiverse. Octavian's fate is actually much more dark than Thanos'. Thanos should be grateful!)

Probably the first and last time you'll see a Poptropica villain be compared to a Marvel villain...

from your character analysis ask meme, for alhaitham: Are they prone to jealousy? would he be too logical to be jealous? Would his jealousy be in vain or would it perhaps be a sign that his partner has crossed the line of sorts?

Definition of jealousy:

I apologize for taking some time with this ask. I’m going to answer this in a more analytical format because I think this situation calls for it. I want to say that no, under normal circumstances, Alhaitham is not the kind of person to get jealous. In my experience, there are usually three triggers for jealousy:

1. Reader interacting normally with friends and hobbies and partner gets (unreasonably) jealous

2. Reader getting too involved with spending time with friends/hobbies not realizing they’re neglecting partner which gets them (reasonably) jealous

3. Reader specifically does things that will incite jealousy within partner by purposefully doing things like ignoring partner or flirting with others

Alhaitham would not get jealous under the first instance. Being a very independent person, he would understand and respect his partner’s need for it as well. The second instance would be the closest he’d feel to your definition of jealousy. While he’d be able to withstand it for a while, eventually he’d probably feel neglected and would pull you away to capture your sole attention.

As for the third scenario, while he would get upset and would get jealous, I don’t believe this would happen in a normal relationship. Personally, I would never flirt with someone that isn’t my partner just for fun, even if I’m close to them. I think that’s a very hurtful thing to do to someone that has feelings for you.

So long story short, no, I don’t think Alhaitham is prone to jealousy. Not that he’s “too logical” to be jealous. He just understands and respects people’s need for independence. That being said, he probably can end up feeling neglected if left alone too long.

Tony stark (mcu)

He might be a billionaire weapons manufacturer with a god complex but at least he looks cool when suited up.

Okay, so, more seriously, I’ve wanted to kick the Iron Man hornet’s nest for years.

My potentially unpopular opinion on Tony Stark is that general MCU assembly line-ishness aside, the writers were pretty clearly aware that the guy was kind of a scumbag, albeit a well-intentioned one, and they kept a hold of that thread through all the films I saw.

The movies were very up-front about the fact that the Tony is constantly fucking up in ways that create problems for everyone, often in ways that he isn’t even aware of until it generates a supervillain. The fuckups are interspersed with big, romantic gestures that sometimes fix the problem at hand, like the portal nuke or the climax of Endgame, but they don’t solve the underlying dynamic of a billionaire throwing his money around in ways that really, really predictably lead to disaster, if the person making the prediction is anyone not named Tony Stark. With the exception of Endgame, I’ve never watched an MCU movie where it felt like the takeaway was that we were supposed to nod along with Tony Stark, embrace him uncritically, or treat him as a straightforward role model.

(If anything, one of my complaints about MCU Spider-Man is that it takes time away from Spider-Man to keep hammering home Iron-Man’s fuckups. For me, the takeaway from Far From Home wasn’t, “oh, look at Tony Stark’s EDITH system, drones are so cool, let’s give the army drones,” it was, “Oh, so this was a completely unaccountable system at every step of ownership, from Tony to Peter to Mysterio, this was an utterly insane thing to build, an insaner thing to will to a teenager, and yet another example of how Iron Man keeps fucking everything up with his money and power even post mortem.” I thought it was weird that people thought it was a pro-drone warfare film.)

BUT!

Iron Man as the tortured, self-destructive, hypocritical, self-absorbed, interesting superhero is fundamentally at odds with his own real world marketing.

The Movies, taken on their own, only occasionally tell you straight up that Iron Man is uncomplicatedly awesome and that you should want to be Iron Man, but the Marketing surrounding the character is never going to be able to dig into the sleaziness that makes him actually neat. The marketing machine (and associated fandom machine) actually do treat him as a do-no-wrong aspirational figure in a way the source material doesn’t, because you can’t put a war profiteer on T-Shirts. You can’t put class analysis in a coloring book. You can’t put a frank discussion of panopticon politics and corporate-backed imperialism on the back of a cereal box. And this is where you get the more insufferable depictions of Iron Man, where is flaw is that he’s... sarcastic, or snarky, or only charmingly self-confident instead of a black hole of bad decisions made extremely confidently. All of the most irritating “I don’t care do u” style of memes, the air fryer thing, the grayscale one where he’s putting his hand over his breast in mock surprise, that’s where all of those are coming from. From this tension where the outward face of the character is this really obviously hollow self-aware snark, because everything of substance to the character is completely unmarketable at the scale Disney wants to market it at.

Potentially The Worst Character Questionnaire You’ll Ever Do... Part 2:

Since the first one is inexplicably such a hit, here's a part two.

1. Make your best representation of them using THIS PICREW

2. Do they exude Beatsaber energy, Wii Bowling energy, or Just Dance energy? Or, name another chaos game they embody better.

This thing got really, really long, so her character analysis will go under a cut. F&H's writing is just that good LMAO

Sooo, Miss Sauer... She's quite the gal, isn't she? I adore her, really. You take a person who sees so much injustice in the world and wants to do something about it, but, due to her upbringing and the fact she hasn't truly experienced hardship in her life... (yes she was kidnapped, but she had a relatively normal childhood despite The Dread of being raised on ransom) She does. Not know how things work. At all. Karin's the type of girl to chastise the powers that be and then use said powers to her advantage when they benefit her and not realize that's what she's doing. Her civilians arrest dialogue where she says she'll relish in the player being sent to Bohemia's notoriously inhumane prisons sticks out to me a LOT.

But she genuinely loves people. She loves people so fucking much and puts herself through absolute hell to "save" them. Unfortunately, she's gotta put people into boxes of "deserving" and "not deserving" or she'll go god damn insane. So she's biased, people fall through the cracks, and despite it being her worst fear there is a reason journalists like her are called "vultures".

Anyway, rant aside, ships. I enjoy Karin/Olivia because Karin needs to be dominated by someone she initially thought she'd need to protect. Go have your worldview shattered by the freaky gun fetishist who has terrible bdsm etiquette and masquerades as a Normal Girl to hide her pent up envious rage of her sister. Karin/Levi also appeals to me, but more in a way where they'd REALLY enable each other but not realize that's what's happening. Levi'd 100% fall into her Valkyrie complex and I love examining when characters go wonky.

I don't care for Daarin though. It can be good (and I've seen it be very good! Ao3 user Bobsledhostage's fic "Remaining Routine" is an excellent example of how that type of mutual spite-filled codependency can work), but a combination of it being... so common, and Karin's genuine hatred of Daan being flattened down to a "haha the wife hates her husband isn't it funny???" type beat has left me soured on it. But this game has phenomenal writing and literally every single character dynamic has potential so its a very minor, and very fandom heavy misgiving.

I'll die on my hill that Karin's not a natural blonde. It makes insane amounts of thematic sense for her character and is one of the few ways I'll be interested by Daarin, with Daan once again gravitating to a brash, black haired woman who steps all over his boundaries.

Let's see, let's see... Fanfictions... Well. I am. currently, in the process of writing a Karin/Olivia sm*t fic, but that's been on the backburner for a couple of. Months. By this point. But know it does exist. And it is emotional.

She's loud bird to me. If she were a Pokémon she'd be a yellow Squawkabilly, or perhaps a Mandibuzz if I wanted to be really evil.

I believe that's it. I love Karin a lot. I really, really do. She's an amazing character from an amazing game who reminds me so much of myself when i was 14 it's physically painful.

I hope she finds more empathy in the world.

!!! ok I’m super excited to talk about ALL OF THESE but I’m gonna split them into separate posts (so it doesn’t get to be too long of a textwall in a single post)

/// VESPERIA SPOILERS BELOW ///

first up: I gotta talk about Raven & Estelle, because they are (imo) the single MOST tragically-swept-under-the-rug dynamic in all of Vespy canon & it’s absolutely criminal that we never got to see Estelle’s reaction when meeting Raven again post-Sword-Stair, or really any attempt to touch on her trauma whatsoever (and someday I hope to write a proper fic to give this the depth & attention it deserves which will most likely be in the form of a rewrite of the events following Baction bc part of the problem is that Raven reappeared WAY too fast with no time for any of the emotional beats to sink in which cheapens both the Schwann reveal & his sacrifice BUT I DIGRESS)

...so, Raven & Estelle!! Raven’s introduction presents him as very clearly Sketchy, & (whether out of simple naivete or her innately kind nature) Estelle is probably the only party member to trust him (or at least not want to get rid of him) right away… so it hits that much harder that she was the one most hurt by his betrayal, especially since he acted right as she was at a very low point of struggling with the truth of her powers & it came hand-in-hand with Alexei's big Villain Reveal. Considering that Estelle had lived a very sheltered life prior to leaving the Palace with Yuri, it's safe to say that this is the first time she's had to face any sort of notable betrayal, and to have it come from multiple angles at once & from people she knew personally (both a travelling companion she'd grown used to having her back in battle AND the leader of the Knights whose duty should have been to protect her) would have crushed any hope of a rescue, and coupled with Alexei's manipulation & dehumanising treatment (and her previous concerns over her powers) she'd begun to think she wasn't worth saving at all.

It goes without saying that Estelle would forgive Raven (because that's just who she is) but there's also no chance that she'd come out of it trauma-free, and that's something we really should have seen-- Estelle discovering that forgiveness isn't easy or simple (even if she wants it to be) & getting the chance to be visibly angry/upset; Raven forced to reckon with the lasting effects of his actions firsthand (the nightmares/insomnia, the little flinches when he catches her by surprise or brushes against her, etc) & taking on the responsibility of making it right again (which he definitely can't do unless he continues to live & works hard to earn it).

But on the other hand, I also think Estelle & Raven have a really nice potential for helping each other heal?? Because they've both been through the experience of being treated as weapons/tools by Alexei, and having the control he held over them linked to some integral part of their bodies (Raven's blastia; Estelle's CotFM powers) and they both struggled with suicidal ideation as a result of this trauma, and both were discarded & left to die as soon as Alexei no longer had a use for them (and also… asked Yuri specifically to kill them & had him refuse which. i could write a whole separate essay about Yuri being forced repeatedly to play executioner & his complicated relationship to that imposed role despite also being a cold-blooded vigilante killer, BUT this isn’t a Yuri Post so that’ll be a topic for another time). Raven & Estelle have some very unique similarities that would allow them to understand each other in a way that no one else truly can, and it's such a shame that their particular found-family dynamic didn't get any proper screentime.

......guess that's what fanfic is for, though!! I hope one of these days I can do them justice (or maybe this post will inspire others? or fic dealing with any part of this is already out there??? link recs are always welcome if you know of anything like this) :D
