A/N: I love you like Dr. Strange loves being right
Created for the 14 Days of Valentines community project, hosted by @muddyorbsblr
Series masterlist
Pairing: Loki x fem!reader
Includes: Angst
Summary: Loki seeks council when he fears he's crossed a line
Tumblr media
The Bewitched theme tinkles from your pocket as you leave the cafe. Chrysa wiggles her eyebrows, waving goodbye. She's been making hushed comments about how "fucked out" you look since she walked through the door.
You gave up telling her it was just a dream. A very satisfying, very realistic dream, but still a dream.
"Hey Wanda," you answer the call. "What's up?"
"Is Loki with you?"
"No," you frown at the concern in her voice. "I just left work. Why?"
"Steve's angry. Really angry. He said 'damn' under his breath, and he never swears.
"Loki's supposed to leave for a mission in an hour and none of us can find him."
"Have you asked Thor?"
"Thor's at the market. He refused to take his phone because he 'can't afford any more distractions from the new generation of boxed delight.'"
"He's getting an iphone?"
"No," she snickers. "Pop-Tarts released a limited-edition flavor. He's worried everywhere will be sold out because he didn't make it to the store this morning.
"Aaaanyway, do you know where your boy-toy might be? Bruce heard 'HE'S NOT MY FATHER!' coming from Thor's room before breakfast, but no one's seen Loki since.
"He likes to be snarky on coms, but he's never ditched a mission before. Did he say anything last night?"
"Not really. He said he didn't want to get 'too familiar,' but nothing about going somewhere. Luckily, he wasn't so refined it in my dream," you giggle.
"You're so naughty! What did he do?"
"Haha, we gotta meet up if you want the dirty details. I'm not telling the whole train about it."
"Come down to the tower then. Most of the team is leaving. We'll make pineapple upside down cake, and you can tell me everything. And if Loki comes back, you'll get to see him."
"Twist my arm why don't you."
On your ride up, a feminine tone speaks in the elevator. "Welcome back to Avengers' Tower, I'm FRIDAY. Putting Mr. Stark through now."
"Hey, I'm trying to find Rock of Ages," says the unmistakable voice of Tony Stark. "Any idea where he is?"
You look around for a camera or microphone and say "Hi. Um, sorry? I don't know where Loki is. Can't you track his phone or something?"
The doors open, revealing the genius himself as he takes off his Bluetooth to address you directly. "No can do, princess. He's somewhere even FRIDAY can't reach. Next stop is Bleaker St. There's a wizard down there who likes to keep tabs on potential threats. Might be able to give us a lead."
"You don't think he's...?"
"What? Leading another alien army to attack the city? Probably not, but we can't be too careful. Either way, if we don't find him Cap's gonna have an aneurysm and he's too old to survive that." Chuckling at his own joke, Stark gives your shoulder a squeeze and gets on the elevator. "Don't worry, we'll bring your boyfriend back in one piece."
"We've only been on one..." you sigh as the doors close.
"Hey," Wanda comes up behind you. "There you are. I hope Stark wasn't giving you a hard time. He's still jumpy about planetary security. Wants some sort of forcefield, but after the Ultron mess..." she looks guilty. "No one else will agree to it."
You chew your lip, following her to the kitchen. "Should I be worried?"
"Worried?" she looks up. "I don't think so. Steve's just upset because he has to replan the mission. I'm sure Loki isn't in trouble or doing something wrong.
"From what Banner said, it's probably just a family issue."
You nod, but something doesn't feel right. You haven't known the god for long, but you know he wouldn't go to his parents unless he had to.
A/N: Thanks for reading!

House of the Dragon and Skyrim crossover Headcanons
Tumblr media
Approximately twenty years before The House of Dragon begins, The Last Dragonborn was born. It is believed that her mother died attempting to protect her from mercenaries sent by her father to abduct her.
As the events of The house of the dragon starts, she is primarily speaking the language of dragons. (Thu'um just to make it clear.)
There are at least one dragon near her most of the time. Most of the time it's usually Odahviing.
Tumblr media
(Image above is what the dragon named Odahviing looks like.)
4. Odahviing is the last dragonborn's right hand, the younger and smaller dragon named Saphira. Unlike Odahviing she didn't have scales, she had sleek, glossy looking black feathers. She is only seen whenever there aren't either many people around or any people near the last dragonborn.
5. Saphira is often confused for Leviathan. The much younger dragon that only just hatched three years after she was born. Leviathan being much like Saphira as he doesn't have scales either. But instead of having black feathers, he has a darker grey.
6. The last dragonborn's name is Freyja. Her hair is a dark burgundy and her eyes are a light grey colour. Her skin so pale as if she could blend into the snow and no one would notice. She's quite tall, standing at six foot five. Often dressed in armor and rarely ever seen without wearing it.
7. Freyja doesn't have an opinion on the family of dragon riders, which to her dismay has caused more trouble than she would have hoped.
"You asked whether or not if I had an opinion and turn around saying that I must have one? How am I supposed to know what to think if I don't know enough about them to form an opinion?" Freyja to Otto, several times.
8. Her opinion of certain individuals are more biased over time. As she gets used to those certain individuals were persistent enough to stick around her. Despite the fact that she had put out the most intimidating aura around her.
"I don't think you'll be able to get rid of me that quickly." Aemond to Freyja.
9. Freyja works normally as a blacksmith, if you can't find her and you know she hadn't left town. She's most likely working as a blacksmith during that time. Mostly as a blacksmith's assistant or working inside the shop.
"This is where you work?" Rhaenyra asked her.
"Where else would I work?" Freyja replied rather confused.
10. She is recognized as dragonborn by the greybeards after she reached the age of 25.
Tumblr media
11. Freyja is fine with her mundane job and her life being pretty boring even after being recognized as dragonborn. Unfortunately it also means she's last one too.
12. Freyja owns her own home, among the smallfolk just to make sure no one could find her.
13. Freyja had been trained by different swordsmen growing up, as she could never really afford more than one lesson from one trainer at one point or another. Therefore a lot of her scars on her body are from her trying to learn by herself between each paid lesson. Her stubborn behavior would not allow her to accept them not taking her money, saying it was her right to spend it how she wanted.
14. Freyja plays dumb among the ones who like to talk as if she was dumber because she's not male or had the same formal education.
"Due to my experience and your lack of experience. I can comfortably say that doesn't work the way that you think it does." Freyja talking to someone trying to belittle her in some form.
"I also don't think I need your help as much as you think I do."
Tumblr media
15. Freyja's goal in life at the moment is to open up a store somewhere, a place where she can make it her own. Which has proven to be more difficult than she had hoped.
"They're acting as if I want to murder them, I have no plans to make a name for myself in the way they're imagining and yet they treat me as if I had murdered their entire family at the same time."
16. Her main weapon that she is seen wielding most of the time is a two-handed greatsword named Sossedov meaning Dragonblood/ Blood of the Dragon. But in reality it's Chrysamere a greatsword artifact she found after exiting a ruin.
Tumblr media
(The image above is the sword that is referenced in the headcanon above.)
Tumblr media
17. Freyja has made at least four greatsword. One is named Oath-breaker, another is named after one her own gods Akatosh the god of time and the third one named Unslaad Vulon meaning Eternal Night. These three were made for her friends she fought in battle with between the age of 20 and 25.
"We will meet again in the great halls of valor." Freyja to her deceased friends.
18. After the deaths of her friends and the blades telling her to kill her mentor, Paarthurnax, Freyja is on a war path to find the thing capable of killing her. Even that turns out to be failure after failure. So she frequents a tavern drinking cheap ale and hoping a slow death would be better than none at all.
"Have you come to mock, gloat or poke the nearest bear you could find?" Freyja said to either Alicent or Rhaenyra. Depending on when this takes place.
19. Freyja towers over most people growing up, it was something she hold over the other person instigating a fight or trying to start a fight with someone else. Which most of the time had gone her way most of the time.
"You'll regret this one day! I'll make sure of it Freyja."
"I certainly doubt that." A younger Freyja yelled back at the shorter child.
20. Freyja is the champion for Hermaeus Mora. She had decided that after she had taken the Oghma Infinium after Septimus Signus was disintegrated to ashes in front of her. While Freyja's thirst for knowledge is unquenchable, most of what drives it is her dragon-like need to dominate. Just like any other dragon around her, it's the main reason she has become a reliable aid to those who can't afford to pay for a healer or a place to replace or repair their equipment.
"Don't bother, I don't need the money I have more than enough and I'd rather see you alive." Freyja says to most of them. "If you want to repay me, you can help me by making sure you stay healthy and safe."
(Image Below is Hermaeus Mora and how he makes himself look like to Mortal men and mer.)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"I'll explain it to you once you're a bit older." Freya says to Aemond. "Besides I'd rather not face the executioner's axe for the second time." She added before leaving to return to her home.
"I certainly doubt she'd kill you over that." He says to her.
"I can't take the chance either way," Freyja yelled back. As the day came to a close and the two departed, one to her home. A small cottage among the smallfolk outside the castle walls. It might not have been much, but to her it was everything. Her hair had blood in it, her heart was beating hard against her ribcage. It felt like it was only beginning and most of the trouble was only just picking up.
Freyja had bathed a few hours later, she didn't know what to tell or hide as the fact that his mother had a terrifying death glare that sent the fear of the gods straight to her. Despite not being generally afraid of most things.

Ash walks down the stairway in an Aura Guardian costume — an honor to his ancestors, an honor to himself. All these years with Lucario make the young man wish he'd taken Aura training more seriously. Now, he's willing to make that step.
It's Halloween, and Ash isn't sure what to expect from everyone else. As he enters the small kitchen area of Lab, he sees Chrysa and Ren dressed as their favorite Pokémon — not a surprise.
Professor Cerise, Talia, and Parker dress as a family of Charizard and their young Charmeleon. It's fitting for the family, but Ash wonders what Chloe is doing if they are this.
He sees her on the other side of the room, and Ash is surprised to see Chloe dressed as Cynthia from Sinnoh. The Champion had been a prevalent part of Chloe's later teens, but Ash guesses he hadn't realized how much. Either way, he compliments the outfit — because it's Cynthia's outfit, because Chloe still terrifies him after these years.
Ash hears a light cough behind him, and he turns to see Goh. He's about to speak when he sees what the other is wearing. His blue vest hangs off Goh's shoulders, over a plain white t-shirt — it's Ash's outfit from when they first met.
Ash can't speak — no words leave him, no matter how much he wants to say something. He isn't used to being speechless, but with Goh in front of him, Ash isn't so sure he's bothered.
Until…
Goh blushes brighter when Ash doesn't speak, and he wrings his hands together near his waist. His voice is soft when he says. "I'm sorry I didn't ask you… I can go change if you—"
"No!" Ash startles himself with how quick he interrupts. He coughs awkwardly before trying again. "It–It looks great. You look great, Goh."
He glances over his shoulder to where Chloe stands, because Ash doesn't know what to do. They're in the middle of the kitchen, everyone can see them, but Ash doesn't know how to not draw attention to himself.
Chloe sighs with a small smile. She gets Parker's attention. "Hey, Charmeleon, show me if you've got what it takes to be Cynthia's Pokémon."
The young tween leaps off the barstool he sits at, excitedly exclaiming that he does, indeed, have what it takes. The Cerise Family, Chrysa, and Ren leave the room to the Park.
Suddenly, it's just Ash and Goh.
Goh speaks up first. "Thank you — for everything, Ash. I know it's just a single day out of the year, but I wanted you and everyone to know how important you have been to everyone over the years."
The to me lingers in the air, even if Goh doesn't say it. He doesn't need to — Ash knows.
Ash smiles brightly at the words, and he walks up to the other; he takes Goh's hand, and together they walk out into the Park with the others.
Fingers intertwine on their journey — spilling words neither have been able to speak out loud. Right now…
It's enough.
— excerpt from Sparks that didn't make the final draft. Hope you enjoyed!

Note
Professor Cerise received an email from Brandon, asking him to inform Ash about the Frontier Brains Meeting next week.
Brandon also explained why Ash was invited was because Ash completed the Frontier Challenge but actually turned down the Frontier Brain position.
Professor Cerise, Chrysa, and Ren was too stunned to speak after that.
Ash would probably join as like a guest or something since he doesn’t actually want a position with the FB’s and Piakchu absolutely looks forward to those meetings because he can basically scamper around the table getting pets and scratches while they all talk

I'm guessing since kids seem to really like Fort Max and Bernardino, their kids probably said dad as their first word.
Sorry, Corinna and Chrysa, at least you can bond with Astoria both that.
I would say that, once a lot of the war aftermath dies down, Faolan (Fort Max) is fully okay with being the one to focus on raising the kids/taking care of the home/foster animals and letting Chrysa do all her good work as a neurosurgeon. So yes, that's probable. XD (Chrysa loves watching him with children, so it's not the worst thing.)
Corinna is much more bothered and pouts more. Especially because, speaking as a fellow curvy woman, the curves are excellent when cuddling babies, so why is Bernardino getting all the baby love? She does love to see him be good with kids, but she wants that connection too. (And, you know, the running thing about Cosmos being very lonely.)

The building was on lockdown, and the hallways were engulfed in a red hue from the emergency lights. It had been pandemonium at first, with people scrambling to try and find the nearest exit, and then the panic when they realized that they had been locked in. You could hear the police outside the building, but the sound of someone speaking on a megaphone felt distorted and distant. She was the target, who else would be as important? There was a procedure for these types of situations, but it would seem that whoever had infiltrated the headquarters knew the ins and outs of her staff and security.
This attack had been planned for a while. Jung-hoo escorted her from her office, while relatively safe, it would not be ideal if she ended up surrounded, and how things were happening the best course of action was to get her to the garages and keep her there. With a gun in his hand, two other security guards flanked her, they started moving towards the silver shimmer of the elevator doors. It was eerily quiet as they waited for that familiar BING and then the smooth sliding of doors.
Each second was precious. She entered inside, the two other men by her side and then it was his turn, as soon as he stepped in, he heard it first as if it were happening somewhere else, and then the doors closed behind him. As he turned to look at her, he noticed red drops over her right side, more so visible as they soaked into her white blouse. Jung-hoo looked down, noticing the wet stain spreading against his black suit, the red becoming visible on the white shirt underneath. It wasn’t his first time being shot, so he recognized the immediate shock that he was going in. “ It’s fine, it’s my left shoulder, I’m righhanded. ” That made the most sense to say at the moment as he looked at her, unable to move an inch.
chrysaelis asked: “your shirt..”  from yoojin :eyes: / still accepting.

VITA NOVA | Mpagkeion Hotel, Athens – November/December 2023
Text: Aliki Stenou, Simon Gleave
Direction - Set Design: Aliki Stenou
Live Music (percussion): Nikos Touliatos
Movement: Korina Kokkali
Costumes: Mary Limniou
Lighting Design: Thomas Oikonomakos
Assistant Directors: Dimitra Ntanti, Victoria Karakasoglou
Assistant Set Designer: Nikolas Rouvalis
Photography: Stefanos Tavakis
Communication: Chrysa Matsagani
Organization / Execution of Production: Aliki Stenou, Dimitra Ntanti
Performed by (in alphabetical order): Korina Kokkali, Dimitra Ntanti, Aliki Stenou, Nikos Touliatos
Description of project:
'Vita Nova' is a theatre performance narrating the day after a loss, the mixed emotions, and the thoughts that arise during a visit to the family home of the past. Memory, traces of a bygone era, and the need for a new beginning intertwine in a poetic stage composition where speech, movement, and music capture the nuances of a transition.
Reviews:
"I never expected what would follow. The art of illusions, sensations, and Art with a capital 'A' unfolded abundantly in front of me. […] The direction of the performance is magical. Excellent pace, full utilization of space, intensity in the atmosphere, and an exceptional blending of the protagonists' best qualities. Ms. K. Kokkali, D. Ntanti, A. Stenou transform into beings beyond the strict material world we experience. Their voices incredibly crafted, their movement ethereal. There are moments when you truly wonder watching them if they actually exist or if we project a fantasy, captivated by the work. Mr. N. Touliatos equally amazing and expressive, without even hearing him speak for a moment." (Elpiniki Ninou – θεατρο.gr)
"We watched the excellent 'Vita Nova' at Mpageion Hotel […] a work of beautiful images but, more importantly, beautiful meanings […] Korina Kokkali, Dimitra Ntanti, and Aliki Stenou, astonishing and moving in their roles, transform into Evmenides and Maenads, but also to the three Fates: Clotho, Lachesis, and Atropos. They speak within our protagonist's mind, weaving threads in a scene filled with dry leaves. They use the old sitting area as an arena of emotions and speech. […] Musician Nikos Touliatos breaks the silence with percussive sounds, who seem like from nightmares or pain, yet he remains silent. The three actors, with magnificent physicality and speech, with a wonderful use of space and lighting, manage to perfectly convey the essence of the play. The text shouts in favor of life, without forgetting the pain of loss and sorrow that we all carry, knowing that we are 'passing by'!" (Aris Gavrielatos – αθηΝΕΑ)
"Vita Nova / A performance-experience about loss and mourning […] Aliki Stenou directs in detail, creating through the actors' choreographed movements, the distinctive set with leaves, objects in space, and the sound of percussion played by Nikos Touliatos, a 'life-experience' performance. The atmosphere created, even by the acoustic space, constantly challenges the viewer emotionally, who experiences the stages of the protagonist's grief to the fullest." (Dimitris Bamboulis – TVXS)
"The atmosphere of the performance is eerie and enchanting. The girls move like one under Korina Kokkali's wonderful choreography and, of course, the indisputably splendid direction of Aliki Stenou. The space seems as if it was created solely for this performance. And, of course, it harmonizes amazingly with Nikos Touliatos's music. You lose yourself and find yourself again (probably) in about an hour. Words are unnecessary to describe the emotions that arise." (Katerina Zygouraki – WeLoveTheater)
"The text by Simon Gleave and Aliki Stenou is the image of the seismic aftermath, which moves us, displaces us from our existential axis. The next moment of loss and the reminder of mortality become the foundations of the work. […] Aliki Stenou, who directs and is also responsible for the set design, knows that beauty must break the shell of pain […] This beauty is what she has given us in the past and this is what she will give us again." (Alexandros Stergiopoulos – Gazzetta)
"Beauty intensifies the pain of loss. And 'Vita Nova' is very beautiful…" (Giorgos Voudiklaris)

SECOND CHAPTER SINCE THE FIRST WAS SO SHORT-
Here you gooooooooooooooooooooooooo
(So Imma do a sick scene for both of them, but in the scene before Goh wasn't actually sick- this is THE DAY AFTER :D )
ASH POV
Much later I walked beside Goh through the park, looking out for Pokemon that he hadn't caught yet. He was so determined to complete that pokedex of his, and I was determined to help him do it.
Goh sneezed, stumbling a bit.
"Bless you," I said without looking back.
"Ash!" Goh yelled, his voice sounding extremely congested and high-pitched - like his scream- out of nowhere.
"Yeah?" I turned around. Goh was trying to bat off an Oddish clinging to his back, but couldn't quite reach.
I smacked it down, and it responded in the worst way possible. It shot a Poison Powder at us, but I ducked and avoided it.
Goh however, did not.
He was hit full-blast in the face.
Goh's eyes widened, and his knees buckled. He passed out without another sound. I grabbed him before he could hit the ground, and yelled at Pikachu to use Iron Tail. He did, and sent the Oddish running.
I picked Goh up, and began a long, long run to the Cerise Laboratory.
****
"Is he gonna be okay?" I asked, hovering over Chrysa as she worked.
"I've done my best, Ash. The poison must run its course for the antidote to take effect."
"But is he going to be okay?"
"I don't know Ash."
I pulled up a chair, and sat beside the bed Goh was sleeping on. Come on, Goh.
I kicked myself inside for ducking like a coward instead of fighting back.
Now Goh's sick and poisoned because of my actions.
I laid my head down and stared at him as he tossed and turned, his fever rising through the night.
****
GOH POV
**********
Oh my goodness, it's so hot in here.
Did Ash turn up the temperature or something? Is Cinderace sick and can't control their heat?
Oh, wait. No.
I'm sick.
"Ughhhh..." I grumble, and sit up, nearly bumping my head on the bunk. I'm in Ash's bed.
Speaking of Ash, he's got a chair pulled up and his arms are resting on the sheets of the bed. He's fast asleep. Everything is kind of blurry, and there's a cloth on my forehead, drenched in cold water. Or at least, what used to be cold water.
Now it's not cold.
I move the cloth and rub where it had been resting, keeping my fever down. Now that the cloth had been moved, I felt my face heat up- and it wasn't because I was looking at Ash.
I coughed, and Ash jumped, raising his head up to look at me.
I weakly waved. "Hey..."
"Goh! You're awake! Are you okay?"
"Yeah... I think so-" I broke off coughing. "No, nope, you are not okay. Lay back down."
He tried to guide me back down, but I shook my head. "Mmmmmnnnn... No." My voice was rough and croaky- and uncharacteristically deep-ish. "Why not? You need to rest."
"I can't breathe if I lay down."
He tapped his chin. "That's a problem."
"You- *cough*- think?"
I laid back - enough I could breathe, and enough to satisfy Ash.
He drenched the cloth in a bucket sitting beside him, and laid it on my forehead. "Ash, it's cold!"
"Well, yeah. It's supposed to be."
The water was slowly dripping into my eyes, and I had to blink to make the mist go away.
He brushed the now-wet hair out of my face, and sighed.
"I'm sorry."
"It's fine. It's not your fault."
"But I ducked-"
"You ducking was a reflexive movement. I'd rather me be sick than you."
"But-"
"No buts."
He continued to move hair out of my face- that wasn't there, might I add. He was simply stroking my face- no matter how weird that sounds.
I laid back a little more, my neck hurting from sitting up in the position I was in.
I slid down until I was laying all the way down. "I thought you couldn't breathe if you laid down." Ash said, still fixing my hair. He'd moved on from my bangs in my face to the rest, just running his fingers through it or rubbing it affectionately.
I enjoyed it- surprisingly.
"I think I can breathe just fine." In reality, I couldn't at all. I had my mouth open to breathe, taking short, sharp breaths.
Ash placed one of his hands on my forehead, slipping it under the cloth. "You're still so hot." He whispered, cupping my face in his hands. I'm not sure if I'm dreaming- but if I am, I don't want to wake up.
"I'm sick, you dolt."
"Well, yeah. But..."
He looked at my face with such sympathy and sadness that I pressed my forehead against his. I didn't care that a cloth was in the way- I wanted him to see that I was okay.
He gasped. "I literally just changed that, and it's already hot!"
I took off the cloth and rubbed my face where it had been resting. I pressed my forehead against his once more.
"Goh, I'm going to get Chrysa right now."
"Mmmmnnnnn... N-no..."
"Yes, I am. I don't care how cute you act when you're delirious, I'm getting Chrysa."
He thinks I'm delirious?
And CUTE?!
I laugh hysterically for a moment and grab his wrist gently. "P-please don't leave. Pretty please?"
He smiled. "Yes, you are most definitely delirious and absolutely cute. Yep."
I blink several times and hold his wrist tighter. "Fine. Cinderace?" He called.
Cinderace looked up from where it had been sitting, staring at something in it's paws.
"Cinder?" "Can you go get Chrysa?"
"Race, race!" Cinderace dropped whatever it was holding and bolted out of the door before I could even protest. I mumbled and buried my face in the hand I was grasping.
Ash flexed his fingers in my hair and I closed my eyes. A few moments later, Chrysa came through the door with a medical kit.
Ash tried to step back, but I held on like a vise. "No. No, don't leave me..."
I had no idea why I was so desperate for him to stay, but I did know that I most definitely did NOT want him to leave.
My vision started going all fuzzy, and I tried to grab hold of something to keep me steady- other than Ash- but all my hand touched was empty air. I looked around, dazed, trying to stop myself from swaying like a field of wheat in a strong breeze.
Ash- I knew it was Ash from the gentle grip he held me in- grabbed one of my shoulders and laid me down. I let go of his wrist and stared at the fuzzy, faint figure (HEHE) that was Ash.
"Goh? Are you alright?"
I blinked in response.
Chrysa rested her hand on my forehead. "He's extremely hot..."
She reached into her bag, and pulled out a thermometer, but the way my mind saw it, it was a needle. I jumped, and shook my head violently when she moved forward with it.
"Goh, it's just a thermometer." She said, holding it up. All of a sudden, I was crying.
Crying.
What was happening to me? I couldn't control it. I looked for Ash, but he had apparently left the room.
Chysa took the chance to place the thermometer under my tongue, and I let it stay, silent tears rolling down my face. She took it out, and handed me a Pecha berry. I ate it sorrowfully.
Chrysa pulled the blanket over me, and replaced the cloth. She sang a soft song and ran her fingers through my hair until I fell asleep.
ASH POVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVV
I couldn't watch him cry. I just couldn't.
I sat in the kitchen, listening to Chrysa comfort Goh- even I recognize the tune. A lullaby or something.
A few minutes later, Chrysa came back out. She had a whispered conversation with Ren for a moment, and then walked away. Ren looked at me, his face stricken, and followed her.
I pushed my chair back violently from the table, and it made a loud screeching noise. I ignored it and walked to the room.
Goh was flat out on his back with an arm flung over his face, asleep. He never slept on his back. And certainly not with an arm over his face.
I rested my hand on his forehead- I had to wiggle my hand under his arm- and took it back. I looked at Pikachu. "Watch over him, buddy." I said, and ruffled up his fur. (It is canotically said by ASH HIMSELF that Pikachu is a boy. Also, his tail would be heart shaped if he was a female. Cinderace's gender is never specified- but most starters are male- so I'm sticking with it and they/them for now, just to be safe.)
I closed the door gently and grabbed my bag. I needed a battle- I needed something- anything to distract me from Goh. I didn't care if it was something stupid- it just had to be something.
I took off running from the lab. I knew what I'd do.
I pulled out my phone and stopped for a breather. I was very far from the lab already. I punched in a familiar number and listened to the Rotom chime, "Now calling Gary. Now calling Gary."
After several failed attempts, Gary picked up. "Ugh, Ash! What is it? I'm busy."
I said, "Want a rematch?" and waited for him to reply.
"Why would you want a rematch right now? I'm not in that stupid tournament you've flung yourself into- I'm working for Project Mew at the moment, if you must know."
"Fine- I want a rematch. Now."
"What's got you so angry? Something's up, I can tell. You're usually running around catching Pokemon with that kid- what was his name? Goh?"
My resolve snapped.
"I just want your company right now! Okay Gary? I need something distracting, and you usually respond to a challenge! I just... I just..." On the other end, I heard him groan.
"Uuugh... Okay, okay. Just stop crying and I'll be there in a few. Alright?"
"*sniff* Okay."
I hung up.
It only took five minutes for him to find me. Add five more seconds, and that was the time needed for him to get out of his car and grudgingly put his arms around me for comfort.
Two more, and that was when I started sobbing.
(OH MAN I'M INSANELY PROUD OF THAT LITTLE BIT-)
***
"So tell me again why you think this is your fault?" Gary said, resting his hand on Goh's forehead.
"Because I ducked and didn't fight back! That stupid Oddish attacked him because-"
"That's enough. Ash- it wasn't your fault- is what I'm trying to say. It was an accident."
"But Gary, it was."
"No, Ash. It wasn't. You need to quit blaming yourself. Come with me."
He grabbed my wrist and dragged me out to his car. Without another word, he opened the passenger side and motioned for me to go inside. I did so without hesitation.
Gary turned the key in the ignition, and began driving.
"Where are we-"
"Hush."
"But-"
"No. I like driving in silence."
Which was true. Gary did enjoy silence when he was thinking- and he most definitely was from the way his mouth was turned and he was biting his lip lightly.
I knew Gary too well. That was what came with being someone's rival since childhood.
Gary pulled into Professor Oak's driveway. "Why are we here?" I asked, shutting the passenger door.
He didn't say anything, he just knocked on the door. I heard a: "Come in!" from inside, and Gary opened the door.
He grabbed me by the entire hand this time- not just the wrist- and pulled me inside.
"Hey Gramps, got any human antidotes left?"
"Ah, grandson, you're here. I was just wanting to talk about your pokedex-"
"Not right now, Gramps. I need those antidotes you keep around."
"Ah, and Ash! How are you doing, my boy?"
"Professor! FOCUS!"
I hardly ever heard Gary call Professor Oak- well, professor.
Professor Oak put his greetings on hold, and found the box of antidotes Gary was looking for. Without another word, he took three and left.
I turned away. "I'm assuming he wants me to follow him, so I'll talk to you later Professor!"
So I left Professor Oak standing there in his doorway, his questions and how-do-you-do's left unsaid, waving with wide eyes at how fast we'd come and how fast we'd left.
I got into the passenger seat again, and Gary put the antidotes in my lap. "Why are you doing this for him, Gary? You don't even like Goh, you think he's going to steal your spotlight."
"I'm not doing it for him, I'm doing it for you. I'm doing it because I can't take seeing you so torn up over this kid, and I know exactly what will happen if I don't help. Only Gramps has this kind of antidote- 'cause people don't think it works- and if we don't get the right medicine for that kid soon, he'll die. I know this medicine works, because I've used it. So I've got to help, or else I'll see my worst rival and best friend sink into a deep pit of sadness that he can't dig himself out of."
Gary Oak just called me his best friend.
Wow.
Never in my life had I expected to hear those words come out of his mouth. By the time I was ready and calm enough to answer him, we were back at the Cerise lab.
He opened the door and didn't wait for me. I scrambled out of his car, and ran after him. "Gary, why do you have to be so fast?" I pant as I catch up with him.
"I've got longer legs than you, dork." His comment made me look at them. I immediately looked back up, embarrassed to have given in to my interest. He laughed, and pushed me gently with his palm, straight at my chest. He clears his throat and turns his head.
"Ahem... well, we've got to get this to your friend..." I butt in. "He wants to be your friend too. He told me so. Even though he can hardly stand you, he wants to be your friend."
Gary looked at me, genuine interest in his eyes.
"Really?"
"Yeah!"
He looked on for a second, then snapped out of his daze. "That's nice, Ashy-boy, but we've got to fix him up before he becomes anyone's friend."
He pushed into the guest room, and we found Ren and Chrysa sitting beside Goh's bedside.
Chrysa looked up when we entered. "He's worse. We might even have to move him to a hospital."
I gasped and clenched my teeth, trying to swallow my sudden tears. Gary saw the stray one that dripped down my cheek. He held up the antidotes. "No need. This should fix him right up."
Before he could crouch down and attempt to administer the antidote, Ren threw an arm out to stop him.
"Are you sure you're ... qualified...?"
"I'm as qualified as you are. I'm Professor Oak's grandson, I work for Project Mew, and I'm hoping to be a Professor like him someday. I'm Ash's lifelong rival, and I want to beat him someday. Good enough for you?" Ren turned away, and in his moment of hesitation, Gary got down on his knees and forced an antidote down Goh's throat. He coughed and spluttered, but swallowed it when Gary gave him no choice. He put his hand over Goh's mouth, and over his nose, so that he'd have to swallow it to breathe.
After he did, Gary stepped back. "Use these, if the first doesn't work. If all else fails, send him to a hospital."
Gary embraced me with one arm, and set the empty antidote bottle on the table with the other.
"Take care Ashy-boy. Tell me if- and when- he wakes up."
He dipped his head at me, and walked out. I heard his car start and drive away.
(Ashy-boy is a NOT AFFECTIONATE nickname that turned affectionate in my story. When Gary called him that in the anime, it was like he was calling Ash an idiot. At least I think)
I smiled faintly as I watched him leave. Then I turned to Goh. Ren looked at me, and said, "Go get a shower and get ready for bed. We'll be here to tell you if anything happens, but I doubt anything will until much later. The antidote hasn't had time to kick in."
Chrysa had my clothes in her hand, and pushed them into mine. I blinked, and went to get my shower.
***
When I got out, my hair wet and dripping in my face, I knew something had happened. And I knew I didn't want to find out what it was.
I turned away from the group of somber faces at the table in the kitchen, and went into the guest room.
Goh wasn't there. I dropped everything and bolted, my socks slipping on the wood.
Had they taken him to a hospital? The antidote bottles were gone too, I'd noticed.
I looked at all the faces in the kitchen.
"Where is he?" I said it as more of a statement than a question.
Chrysa's face was the first to cave. She smiled and said, "You're friend was right. The antidotes did work."
I ignored the news. "Where is Goh?" I asked again.
She moved over, and I saw him sitting in a chair, eating (Or drinking???) soup. I burst out into tears.
"Goh!" I cried, sprinting to his side. My socks slipped, and my face hit the floor. I winced, but was back up in an instant.
"Are you okay?" I asked him, placing my hand on his shoulder. "Are you okay?" He replied with a croaky voice, looking up at me.
Oh man.
Goh looked awful. Tired, sad, and all the other not-good words you associate with someone being sick.
He was all of those words.
But friend, relief, hope, and a bunch of good words were mixed in too.
He smiled half-heartedly, and I hugged him.
"I was so worried! I thought you might not make it- that you were going to... die."
My breath caught at the word die.
What if he'd actually died? What would I have done then?
No matter how much I didn't want to leave him, I had to clean up everything I had dropped, and I had to call Gary and tell him his antidote worked.
I ruffled up Goh's hair, and walked off. I straightened everything and called Gary.
He was such a life-saver. Literally.

hi dear!! what about 37 for the pining prompts?? only if you feel like it 💞💞
37. "Characters cannot touch for plot reasons." Thanks for the prompt Chrysa!! Here's more empath!Jaskier!
Unfinished Story
Empath!Jaskier, 2.4k, soft geraskier, ciri has a nightmare, hurt/comfort, mentions of past violence
Part of the Empath AU
Read on AO3
Ciri’s scream pulls Geralt out of his doze.
He springs up immediately, knocking Jaskier’s arm out of the way. The bard grumbles something incoherent on the bedroll before fully waking. “G’ralt, what is… Oh, shit.”
The scream continues, Geralt’s medallion thrumming because of the chaos carried by the sound. The ember is dying but the moon provides enough light for him to see Cir in a fetal position, her face buried in the crook of her elbow. Her ashen-colored curls obscure the view.
Geralt half-scrambles to her side, familiar panic seizing his heart. It’s been so long since she had a nightmare this bad, so long that it’s taking him a second to react.
“Ciri.” He shakes her shoulder gently, but she flinches away. The smell of fear rolls off of her in waves. “Ciri, wake up. You are dreaming.”
The sharp wail trails off to a quieter one, but her eyes stay shut, her brows agonizingly knitted tight. Geralt tries to soothe her by stroking her hair, only to have her snatch his hand and holding onto it for dear life. He squeezes, hoping it’s a comforting gesture.
Each of Ciri’s cries sends a pang of regret in Geralt’s chest. If only he could go back in time. If only he had found her earlier, before the horrors of Nilfgaard—
“Hey, let me help.”
A hand falls to Geralt’s shoulder, and Jaskier meets his gaze in the dim light, the bleariness in his eyes completely gone.
Please, he wants to say. The word gets interrupted by the girl’s writhing.
Jaskier takes over Ciri’s hand, despite her reluctance to let go of Geralt. She clings to him during bad dreams, even when she can’t properly wake up, but the witcher knows it’s important not to touch either of them right now. The wolf medallion vibrates more as the empath works, calming her through the touch.
“It’s okay…” Geralt murmurs helplessly to the girl still asleep. “It’s okay, cub. We are here.”
The empty space around Geralt is excruciating. Under the clear night sky, his witcher senses allow him to see the two of them basked in the silver moonlight—Jaskier kneeling at Ciri’s side, one hand clasped around her wrist and the other carding through her curls. The girl’s pained expression eases slowly.
“Oh… Don’t be afraid, sweet girl,” Jaskier shushes her, the flow of chaos buzzing in the air. “Let me take your fear away, all right? Don’t fight me. Let me in, so you won’t be scared anymore…”
The bard continues to murmur sweet nothings to the girl, easing her resistance to his empathetic powers. At this point, Jaskier’s magic is like a second layer of skin to Geralt, gentle and warm and weaving around their hearts. Even when it’s not directly used on him, he feels somehow pulled to their connection.
To Jaskier and Ciri.
His empath bard and his child surprise.
Two halves of his world.
Jaskier’s eyes are closed to concentration, taming the waves of Ciri’s distress. The action exerts him, Geralt can tell from his elevated heartbeat and the slight slump in his shoulders. The witcher catches himself before he reaches out subconsciously. The gnawing urge to help almost makes him scowl in frustration.
Inaction has never been Geralt’s strong suit.
Finally, finally, Ciri’s eyes flutter open. She’s holding back the tears, as always, even when she’s confused from these dreams, even when she’s reliving her past and desperately searching for her family in the present.
“Geralt?”
Her voice is so small and he has to lean in to hear.
A relieved sigh escapes Jaskier’s lips as he lets go of the girl’s hand. With the magic dissipating, so does the stench of fear. The air settles. As soon as the medallion stills, Geralt surges forward to put a hand on her arm, so she knows he’s here.
On Geralt’s periphery, he senses bard stand and walk to the other side of the campfire—the empath usually needs a moment to collect himself after absorbing someone’s emotions—but right now Geralt’s focus is on his child.
“It’s okay. You are safe, Ciri,” Geralt whispers.
“I dreamed—”
“You are not there anymore.”
“It was burning…I—there was fire… and the man.” She sniffles, stubbornly refusing to cry. His child is tough, probably too tough for her own good.
“It wasn’t real.”
“Because you found me?” There’s a sliver of doubt in her voice that Geralt wishes more than anything to remove.
“Because I found you, Ciri,” he reassures. She’ll need reminding tonight. “You are my destiny and more. I’m here so you’ll never have to be lost again.”
A tiny smile tugs at the corner of her mouth. Geralt tucks away a strand of hair on her face and watches her eyelids droop heavily.
“I’m not. Not now that I’m awake.”
He returns the smile, although she can’t see it that well in the shadows. “That’s because of Jaskier.”
“Oh.” She searches for the bard. When Geralt looks back at the empath’s silhouette, he’s leaning against a tree, a few paces away from camp. “Thank you, Jaskier. Again,” she says.
“Of course, princess,” Jaskier says softly, “I know how scary nightmares can be, no matter how long it’s been. Those things may have happened a long time ago, but sometimes…they come back and haunt when you least expect it.” He pauses, looking to the distance for a moment. “I’d chase them away for you any time.”
She murmurs another thanks before her eyes close with exhaustion.
“Go back to sleep,” Geralt tucks Ciri’s blanket in, before taking her hand again, his thumb tracing a little circle on her skin. “Sleep, cub. We’ll be here. Both of us.”
It doesn’t take long for her to fall into a deep slumber, peacefully this time. Geralt sits next to her for a while longer just to be sure. When he finally leaves Ciri’s side to see to his bard, Jaskier is still standing with his back against the tree. He seems to be miles away, his expression hidden in the shadows, distant and inscrutable.
“Jask?” They are far enough from the girl but Geralt keeps his voice low.
With a surprised gasp, the bard notices him approaching and almost flinches. “Don’t—”
“Don’t touch you, I know.”
Jaskier rests his head on the tree bark. “Just for now.”
Geralt’s fists clench and unclench at his sides. Using those powers takes a lot out of Jaskier, and it leaves him unbalanced. The empath is so wary of hurting him by accident when he’s like this, with raw energy still rippling under his skin.
But in truth, Geralt doesn’t care. He wishes Jaskier could let him in, let him share the burden. Right now, with the space between them, he’ll have to rely on words instead of action.
It really isn’t his strong suit.
“Another nightmare… ” he decides to distract the bard while he recovers. “It’s been too long since Ciri had an episode. I thought it was all over.”
“Time doesn’t heal all wounds, Geralt,” Jaskier breathes. “We should all know better.”
Geralt frowns at the haunted look on his bard’s face. The tips of his fingers reach forward again, but he quickly hides the movement by crossing his arms before his chest.
“You sound like you are speaking from experience, Jask.”
“Do I?”
“Hmm.” Geralt’s stomach turns at the way Jaskier speaks about the girl’s trauma. “You know if you want to talk about it, I’m here.”
Jaskier squirms, chewing on his lower lip. Now he’s truly nervous, tense even. The witcher sees the way his posture stiffens and quickly adds, “Or not. Uh—it’s okay if you don’t—"
“No,” Jaskier interrupts him, shaking his head, “No, I want to tell you. I should tell you everything, at this point.”
Silence hangs between them as the bard adjusts his breathing. In and out, like he would before a performance.
“Years ago, when you first identified my powers” Jaskier chooses his words cautiously, the moon shining in his eyes. “I asked if you would use silver on me.”
Geralt’s heart sinks. “I would never, Jaskier. I—How could you ever think that?”
“Oh, relax, my love. I know.” the bard chuckles tightly. “Even back then, I knew you to be a decent man under all the gruffness. You wouldn’t even harm those confused monsters who drifted to human territory on accident, remember? You claimed that your life was just coin and contracts, but to me, it was clear that you were so much more.”
“You are not a monster,” Geralt argues.
“No, but someone else might think differently.”
The leaves rustle in the breeze, the air cooling as the night stretches on. Without the blanket, Jaskier shivers with only a thin chemise on his back. Geralt’s body gravitates toward him of its own volition. Fuck it, if he can just hold Jaskier right now…
“I was thirteen.” The bard is lost in memory. “This man, a magic user, came to our door. It was just me and my mother. He somehow knew about our identities and asked for her help. You see, she had been keeping it a secret for so long, so she couldn’t trust this man, this mage, who somehow just knew that we were empaths.”
He lets out a shuddering breath before continuing.
“His request was… weird. Something about a king or a royal court. I remember thinking that whatever he said sounded so sinister, it couldn’t have been any good. Mum sent him away on the spot, but afterwards she got so scared, like he’d come back again or something. That night, she barred the door and told me to hide in a storage chest. I refused, so she made me. She kept me obedient the entire time.”
Geralt frowns. “Her powers were the same as yours?”
“Stronger.” Jaskier starts pacing, a few twigs snapping under his feet. “She didn’t need contact to manipulate someone’s emotions like me, and she could influence many at the same time. I’m not as powerful—my father was human.”
“What happened next?” Somehow, Geralt knows the story will not end well. A mage usually means trouble. Or in this case, the shadow hidden behind Jaskier’s bright smiles and chirpy songs.
“She kept me calm the whole night, even when she wasn’t with me, but I could feel her fear. It’s was like an undercurrent beneath my skin. I could feel her emotions change. Then I heard the sound of fighting, but I couldn’t get out. I couldn’t go and help her…”
The salty tang of tears assaults Geralt’s nose, but they don’t fall. Jaskier looks up to the sky to hold back the grief that makes his hands tremble.
“Everything got fuzzy after that, but I still remember the pain and the despair. It was like a part of me was hurting with her. Part of me still does, during some nights.” Jaskier closes his eyes in agony. “When I got out the next morning, no one was there. Our home was wrecked, ruined. There was… There was so much blood, Geralt. I—I couldn’t…”
“Oh, Jaskier.” Geralt watches as Jaskier’s shoulders shake, whimpers choking in his throat. Under the night sky, the bard retreats into himself, making his frame look so much smaller. He sways a little and Geralt extends his hands again, hovering by his elbow. “Can I please touch you now?” he pleads.
With a sniffle, the bard composes himself. He flexes his hands to see if his magic is in check. “I think so, yes—oh.”
Geralt pulls Jaskier in for the tightest hug, his arms wrapping around the bard’s frame protectively. Through the thin fabric of the shirt, he can feel another shiver running down Jaskier’s spine, so he rubs small circles into his back to get some heat back in.
He breathes in Jaskier’s scent, not knowing if the lingering stench of fear is from Ciri or the bard.
“I’m sorry. I’m so sorry, Jask…” Geralt keeps murmuring into the soft hair by Jaskier’s temple. Gradually, the bard sags against his shoulder, letting himself be soothed and supported. Geralt then places his lips to the skin under Jaskier’s ear, and then his cheek, his chin, all the while holding him impossibly close. He’s ready to help the empath restore his energy with all the brimming love in his chest. “Do you want me to…”
“No,” the bard shakes his head. “I’m good. For now.”
They stand there for so long, swaying gently while the world sleeps, before the bard speaks up again.
“I looked for her, and him, at so many courts.” Jaskier’s slightly colder fingers rest on the nape of Geralt’s neck, buried into the hair there. “No mage fit his description. No trace of her either. I think that deep down, I already knew that she was gone, even back then. Otherwise, I would have felt her in there somehow. No matter how far away she was, but all I had was just this emptiness. I was alone since then.”
“You are not. Not anymore.”
“No,” Jaskier pulls away, the tears have dried. Geralt brings the pad of his thumb to trace those streaks anyway. Under his touch, Jaskier smiles. “You see, back in Posada, I met this witcher, a dashing and heroic one. He fell for me so hard that he couldn’t bear the thought of leaving without me, so he begged me to become his travel companion.”
“And you agreed?” Geralt chuckles.
“Not at first, but he wore me down eventually.”
The bard is the most ridiculous man Geralt knows, and yet here they are. Shaking his head in amusement, the witcher steers his bard back to their bedrolls. As they settle back into their usual position, Geralt can’t help but pull him closer, making sure they are touching from head to toe.
The cover sets heavily over Jaskier's body, slowly warming up his skin. His heart beats against Geralt’s ribcage steadily, showing with solid proof that the empath has survived those horrors.
“I found you too, Jask,” he says, pressing a chaste kiss between Jaskier’s brows.
“Good.” The bard's reply is muffled by Geralt's skin. Not far from them, Ciri is still breathing evenly, sound asleep. Geralt has everyone he needs to protect right here with him, tucked away from their separate demons.
And yet, his mind drifts to Jaskier's story. It’s a tragedy with no end and no closure. There was never a body to bury, no vengeance to seek either.
Somehow, he doubts that an unfinished story will stay unfinished.

Dawn of the Dark Chapter 15
This chapter may be found here on AO3.
Chapter 15 – Duty to Train
“Knock knock!” On the morning of the arrival of him and his friends, Ash let himself into the Cerise household and even further into the lab. “I’ve brought some guests!”
“Hello, hello!” Professor Cerise greeted the company that walked through the door. “You must be the Trainers Ash has told me about. Paul and Georgio, right?”
“That’s correct!” Georgio let Sparkle jump onto his arm.
Ren took an instant liking to Sparkle. “You’ve got a Pikachu, too? So cute!”
“She’s not just cute, she’s also strong!” Georgio boasted.
“Magne. Magnezone!” Francois liked Sparkle too and greeted her with a gentle electric attack.
“Hmm?” Chloe, who had just gotten home from work, looked to see what all the fuss was about. “We have house guests?”
“Chloe, you’re home from work early,” Professor Cerise noted.
“Unfortunately, it was because a couple of morons overcooked their popcorn badly enough to smoke up the teacher’s lounges and force an evacuation of the whole school. My principal just sent everyone home.” Chloe sighed. “Oh, well. At least nobody was seriously injured.”
“Pika pika…” Sparkle appeared to empathize with Chloe as she jumped on her shoulder and allowed her to pet her.
“Thank you for coming all this way to help Goh and Professor Sonia in their missions,” spoke Talia. “Can I get you gentlemen anything?”
“I’d be glad to help, too,” Chloe added. “Your Pokemon must be hungry.”
“Thanks, but I’ve come here for only one thing, and that’s to train against this laboratory’s Pokemon,” Paul spoke bluntly.
“Well, well.” Goh tried to hide his disdain. “Then I better oblige our most esteemed guest! If you would follow me…”
“Pika…”
Chloe took Sparkle’s complaint to mean that she was hungry. “I’ll get you some Pokemon food, then. Boltund likes it too. Right, Boltund?”
“Bol! Bol!” Boltund barked while Sparkle rode his back on the way to the kitchen, with Georgio and Chloe close behind.
When everyone had left, Ash felt he could speak his piece to Professor Cerise. “Professor…”
“Oh? It’s not like you to refuse Talia’s home cooking. Is something eating you?”
“Actually, yes. When Pikachu was in danger back at Hammerlocke, I really wanted to save him all by myself.” Ash looked at his hands again, recalling the fascinating event. “I… I don’t know how it happened, but… Fire shot out of my hands and next thing I knew…”
Professor Cerise started to surmise just what had occurred. “Ash, is it okay if I take a small sample of your blood? I want to check something.”
Ash took slight offence to this suggestion. “I’m not sick or anything, am I?”
“No, no, it’s nothing like that… I just want to look at your DNA.”
“Oh. In that case, go right on ahead, Prof.”
After Professor Cerise gave her the go-ahead, Chrysa started her work on Ash. “You might wanna look away, because it’s gonna sting a little bit.”
“You’re talking to someone who gets Thunderbolted nearly on the daily.” Ash sounded confident, but he cried like a Cubone when Chrysa drew his blood. “Yeoooow!”
“Here you go, Professor Cerise.” Chrysa gave her boss the small vial.
“Also, I want to do a body scan if it’s okay with you.” Professor Cerise gestured toward an incubator-like machine.
“Sure.” Ash got into the device and began to daydream. After slowly remembering what occurred during Goh’s first ultrasound, and the initial discovering of his shapeshifter abilities, he began to connect the dots. “Wait, you don’t think I’m a-”
“Precisely. I think you may be a Fire-type shapeshifter. But…” Professor Cerise clicked around his lab computer. “I can’t find a match with any Pokemon, so it’s hard to say what you can shift into, exactly. For all we know, you might be an undiscovered species.”
“Oohoohoo…” Ash smirked.
“Well, there’s no doubt that you’re a shapeshifter either which way,” spoke Ren from an adjacent lab computer. He released Ash from the body scanner. “Because according to the body scan, you have both reproductive systems.”
“So that means Goh could get me pregnant?”
“If you let him top you, he sure can,” answered Professor Cerise. “Have you?”
Ash didn’t feel ashamed of discussing his sex life with close friends. “I haven’t, but now that you mention it…” He blushed deeply, because while he liked the prospect, he wasn’t sure if he was ready to bear a child himself. Not after being there through Goh’s mood swings, morning sickness, and of course the sweet-spicy food cravings.
As if Arceus read his mind, the man in question showed up at the door, making it apparent that he heard every word. “Wait… Ash is a shifter?” Goh stood there at the lab entrance, virtually speechless. “And I can get him pregnant?”
To Ash’s embarrassment, Paul had returned with Goh. “Well. For once, you have something I wish I had.”
Dismissing what Paul just said, Ash ran up to Goh. “Goh, you know what? I might be an undiscovered species! And if I am, I can use myself in battle!”
“That’s not a thing, Ash. Pretty sure that that’s against the league rules.”
“But Mewtwo did it!” Ash remembered well his trials and tribulations on New Island.
“Mewtwo isn’t a league champion that has to worry about support from his sponsors.”
“Nag, nag.” Ash wanted to change the subject. “So, Paul, what did you think of Goh’s Pokemon?”
“Nothing special, and definitely not the opponents I’m looking for.” Paul ignored Goh’s disgruntled look and asked him, “Who was that ‘jerk’ you mentioned when we were back at Hammerlocke? Gary, I think his name was? I’ve seen his battles before, so I know he’s good.”
“Here’s the thing, though… He no longer battles regularly. He’s taken over for his grandpa, Professor Samuel Oak, as researcher.”
“Do I look like I care?” Paul let out his Corviknight, which he used strictly for transport, when he was out of the building. “Goh, your Pokemon were a good warmup, but I’m going to do some serious training in Pallet Town. See you around.”
“Who put the bug up his butt?” Chloe furrowed her eyebrows. Not long after Paul left, Georgio got up as well. “You too?”
“I’m going to train at Victory Road by Indigo Plateau,” Georgio declared.
“You know that to get there, you need all of Kanto’s-” Ash stopped talking when Georgio showed his eight badges of Kanto. “I see someone’s come prepared. Bye, then.”
After the disaster at work, and being caught up on lesson plans and grading papers, Chloe didn’t have any plans for the day. She let herself enjoy a meal and a good talk with her two best friends. “What about you guys? Have you decided where you want to train?”
“Hmm…” Goh scrolled through his Rotom Phone while he ate. “We shouldn’t go to Victory Road, since Georgio is going there. The Seafoam Islands would be great if we didn’t have to navigate the remains of the volcanic eruption around Cinnabar Island…”
“How about here?” From his own Rotom Phone, Ash showed a display of the Cerulean Cave. “It’s perfect!”
“I can always count on you to find the toughest opponents anywhere.” Goh blew Ash a kiss.
“Hey, hey, I’ve never seen you do that before. Do it again!” Ash fluttered his eyelashes, eliciting another flying kiss from Goh.
Chloe smiled at this display. It pleased her that little by little, she was not only getting over Goh, but even feeling genuinely happy for him and Ash. “You two.”
“Bol bol?” Boltund licked Ash’s bare toes.
“Eww, Boltund, that’s nasty!” Goh scolded lightheartedly.
“It’s a step from when he hated me as a Yamper.” Ash chuckled. “He’d never give me the time of day back then!”
“I think that means he’s done eating. Well, so am I.” Chloe grabbed Boltund’s empty dishes and gave them a quick wash. “Mind if I tag along with you guys?”
“That’s not like you,” Ash remarked. “You don’t normally battle.”
“I know, but I’d say it’s my duty to train. If my students are ever in danger – whether it’s because of Eternatus or not – I want to be able to protect them.”
“You always put your students first!” spoke Goh. “They’re lucky to have you as a teacher.”
Ash didn’t let the conversation stop there, not even on their car ride to Cerulean City. “Any anybody would be lucky to have you as a partner, too.”
“Where did that come from?” The topic caught Chloe by surprise as she drove onwards.
“Just curious! You got someone you fancy?”
“I-I’m just thinking of how best to teach, that’s it!” Chloe didn’t want to say it out loud, but there was one person she was interested in. Though she was in another region, this person was wonderful enough for Chloe to want to make it work.
“Well, if you need any advice on that arena, you know where to turn to.” Ash shot finger guns at Chloe.
“No need to ask the most romantically-oblivious man in all the regions,” Goh cut in.
“I wasn’t so oblivious to not fall for you.” Ash winked.
“Thank you, you two, but I’m all right for now. Really.” To take herself off the spot, Chloe parked her car near the Nugget Bridge and said, “We’re here. This is the bridge leading up to the Cerulean Cave, right?”
“Yeah, and one of us needs to defeat five Trainers in order to pass,” replied Ash. “So stand back. This’ll be a great warmup before Cerulean Cave! I’m not going to have any of my Pokemon faint, you’ll see!”
The first Nugget Bridge Trainer took easy notice of Ash’s showboating. “So you say, but can you walk the walk?”
“You bet I can! Ready, Pikachu?” Ash let Pikachu jump from his arm.
“Pika pika!” As his Trainer said he would, Pikachu didn’t have a problem taking down the opponents’ Pokemon – at least, not for the first five Trainers. In fact, this so-called “challenge” was too easy, especially for a strong Pokemon. Thus, Pikachu looked upon the person at the end of the bridge with skepticism. “Pika…”
“Congraaaatulations!” This person presented Ash with a small ball of gold. “Since you made it all the way to the end of the Nugget Bridge, here’s your reward – a golden Nugget.”
“Heh, I get a Nugget for clearing Nugget Bridge.” Ash put the Nugget in his backpack. “Go figure.”
“By the way, I’m very impressed that you managed to defeat the Trainers with just one Pokemon.” The face on this person got somewhat sinister. “How about you join Team Rocket?”
“Pardon?” Ash knit his eyebrows. “Where did that come from? By the way, my answer is, ‘stuff it.’”
“Aww, come on!”
“No means no, buster!”
“I don’t remember giving you a choice!” This person revealed himself to be a Rocket Grunt. “You’re gonna be a member of Team Rocket, and you’re gonna like it!”
“What a nuisance…” Ash let his Pikachu be his first Pokemon for what he hoped would be a short fight. To throw in an element of surprise, he didn’t plan to reveal his identity until after the battle. “All right, Pikachu, let’s mop the floor with this idiot!”
“Wh-Who you callin’ an idiot? ” The Rocket Grunt sent out a Raticate. “Raticate, show him what for with your Hyper Fang!”
“Pikachu, Electroweb!” Ash ordered.
“Pika pika pika!” Pikachu threw a giant ball of electricity that formed into a spider web.
“Raaaaati… cate…” Raticate fainted in just that one hit.
“That was nothing…” The Rocket Grunt sent out an Ekans and then a Koffing – both of which fell to Pikachu yet again. The Grunt tried to reach for another Poke Ball, but realized he had no more. “Waaah! Who… Who are you, kid?”
“I’m no kid.” Ash removed his hood and smirked. “I’m your worst nightmare.”
“AAAAAH! It’s the Champion of Galar, Ash Ketchum!” The Rocket Grunt fled in fear, in the direction of Cerulean City.
“That’s Ash Ketchum of Pallet Town, and don’t you forget it!” Ash called out.
“That wasn’t much of a challenge…” Goh looked at Cerulean Cave while they walked. “I hope the Pokemon of Cerulean Cave are at least as strong as people say they are.”
“Ash, you should have let me take on the Nugget Bridge Trainers,” spoke Chloe. “Those Trainers were obviously not up to snuff.”
“If it makes you feel any better, you can have this.” Ash gave Chloe the Nugget. “I’m already loaded, so I don’t need it.”
“Thanks.” Chloe’s smile faded when a Dodrio darted out of the cave, clearly not watching where it was going. “Yikes! That Dodrio nearly pecked my eyes out!”
“Syl?” Sylveon held onto Chloe for dear life with one of her ribbons.
“I guess that answers my doubts about the Pokemon here,” spoke Goh.
“Stand back, babe. Gotta make sure it’s safe.” Ash took a peek inside the cave. There were a handful of Arboks, Gravelers, and Hypnos further in, but nothing immediately near the entrance. He was confident, then, that they would not be ambushed right away, at least. “All right, guys, let’s go.”
“I think we’ve all come here with the understanding that it’s not going to be 100% safe,” Goh remarked.
“But it’s going to do us no good just rushing in.” Ash scouted the area for a suitable opponent.
“That’s rich, coming from you.” Goh looked for his own opponent.
“Just call it my protective fatherly instincts.”
“Sylveon.” Chloe spoke to her Pokemon. “I know Poison types are dangerous for you, but Eternatus is a Poison-type Pokemon. We should fight Poison-type Pokemon so you don’t have to be so scared.”
“Syl, Sylveon!” Sylveon agreed; as soon as Chloe said what she did, Sylveon noticed a group of Golbat and jumped in. “Sylveon!”
“Golbat it is, then!” Chloe ran off in a separate direction from Ash and Goh.
“Ash, do you know what kind of opponent you want?” Goh asked as he and Ash ventured further into the cave. “I, for one, want to look for an opponent with beam and tail moves, which Eternatus uses frequently.”
“I’m just gonna pick the strongest one there is!”
“I kind of expected that answer, haha.” Goh looked near a pond, hoping to find his desired Pokemon there. And he certainly found it – it was a Gyarados! “One of the hardest-to-train Pokemon there is.” Goh turned to his Cinderace. “You can’t be afraid of your weaknesses, either. You gotta be prepared for anything. So are you ready?”
“Cinderace!” Cinderace kicked the air to challenge Gyarados.
“So inspiring…” Ash saw a Graveler out of the corner of his eye. “All right, then I’m facing against a Graveler! Get ‘im, Pikachu! Use Iron Tail!”
“Gra?” Graveler didn’t see this attack coming, so the Iron Tail knocked him out fairly easily. “Gra… veler…”
“Graveler! Graveler!” One of this Graveler’s brethren noticed the attack, and getting angry, she launched an Earthquake at Pikachu.
“Pika!!” Pikachu was launched into the air and landed on his back. Since he landed on bumpy rocks, the impact left several scrapes on his back, and the Earthquake itself only exacerbated the pain. “Pi… ka…”
“Pikachu!” Ash gave Pikachu words of encouragement in the face of so many Graveler. “You still got fight in you! Remember all the training we’ve been through together!”
Every bone in his body ached, but Pikachu knew Ash was right. This was the reason they all came here in the first place! “Pikachu!” He stood on his feet, holding up his hands in a karate stance.
“I’ve never seen him do that pose before…” Ash thought aloud. “It’s like he’s trying to learn a Fighting-type move, and the only one a Pikachu can learn is-”
“Pika!” Pikachu insisted, awaiting a command from Ash.
“I hear ya, buddy! Pikachu, use Brick Break on that one Graveler, then jump up and do Iron Tail while whirling around!”
“Pikapikapika… Pikachu!” With a running start, Pikachu karate chopped the Graveler’s head, and using the impact from the move, he did the biggest Iron Tail he’d ever done.
“Wow…” Having finished his own battle, Goh watched the amazing move that Pikachu pulled off. “You somehow defied Pokemon logic and got Pikachu to learn a move it can only normally learn through TM. Now, if you could do the same thing with Dig, you can land a super effective move on Eternatus!”
“That’s what I’m planning to do!” Ash fixed the small crown on his head.
A shrill scream would put a temporary halt on Ash’s training plan. “Kyaaaaaaah!”
“That sounded like…”
“Chloe!” Goh exclaimed and took off running but didn’t get far thanks to his swelling ankles. His knees buckled, and he fell to the ground. “Ouch…”
“Goh…” Ash got slapped away when he tried to help his boyfriend off the ground.
“I’m gonna be fine! But we have to help Chloe! She sounds like she’s in real trouble!” Goh tried to get up, but couldn’t.
Cinderace transformed into a human and offered Goh a hand. “Let me carry you.”
“Cinderace…”
“You’re not going to be much help to Chloe if you’re looking and feeling like that!”
“Okay, then… I trust you.” Goh allowed Cinderace to carry him princess style into the innermost part of the cave.
“Chloe!” Ash continued to shout, hoping that Chloe was going to be okay. All he could see as he approached her was a giant Pokemon with long purple backfins, a long tail, and light silver wings. “Ah…”
“Who… Who are you?” Chloe looked up from her fetal position that she took against a wall. “Stay away from me!”
“Sylveon…” Sylveon was so badly wounded that she stumbled when she tried to get up.
“Sylveon, no!” Chloe jumped on top of her Sylveon to protect her. “Please… don’t…”
“She’s not going to need to do anything! Pikachu, use Thunderbolt!”
“Pika… chu!” Pikachu’s attack barely connected; all it did was cause the Pokemon to turn around, and Pikachu recognized it easily. “Pika!”
“I should have known.” Ash didn’t fear his opponent at all. “I’d recognize your beautiful plumage anywhere. Leon!”
“Raoooh!” Leon, in half-shifted form, bared his fangs. The shadows surrounding him glowed even more brightly than his long purple hair.
“Sorry, old friend, but Pikachu and I have the type advantage! Pikachu, use Nuzzle! Paralyze him!”
“Raaaar!” Leon evaded this attack and grabbed Pikachu’s tail to throw him on the ground.
“You lucky bastard. If you’re going to bend the rules, then why don’t I do it too? This isn’t the Pokemon League or World Coronation Series, after all.” Ash let out his Lucario. “Lucario, help Pikachu out!”
“Raa.” Lucario braced his fists.
“We can make it a Raid Battle, then.” Knowing that Cinderace was probably tired, Goh called on his Inteleon for this fight.
“And you’re going to need all the help you can get, especially after I join the fray!”
“Who, pray tell, is ‘I?’” Ash meant for this to be a rhetorical question; he’d recognize that snooty voice from anywhere.
“Ash, Ash, Ash…” Cloaked in glowing red shadows, Rose descended from a hole in the cave’s ceiling. “You should have taken my offer 11 years ago to be one of my endorsed Trainers. If you did, then you too might have my powers.”
“What powers?” Goh demanded. “Explain yourself.”
“I suppose you’re owed that much… Very well. A couple of months ago, I came across a Power Spot hidden in Galar Mine. It awakened an ancient power within me. I am certain that just like what Mew did to you, Eternatus has granted me shapeshifting powers. I may be unable to fully shift right now…” Rose’s arms turned into thin purple claws. “But I can control Galar particles at will! Pretty soon, every region in the world will have enough energy to last many lifetimes!”
“I would tell you that you need to care about the people in this lifetime…” Ash began. “But if it didn’t work 11 years ago, it won’t work now.”
“You… You’re the one who made Leon turn out the way he is now, aren’t you?” Goh questioned.
“You’re a smart one! But not smart enough to stop Leon and I!”
“You wanna bet?” Ash challenged. “Lucario, use Aura Sphere! Pikachu, use your Thunderbolt!”
“Inteleon, Snipe Shot!”
“Hmph!” Rose dodged these attacks easily while Leon retaliated with a Steel Wing.
“Got anything else?”
The Pokemon need my help… Ash tried to find the willpower to use his own shapeshifting powers as he stared Rose down. He managed to shake off Leon by pushing him in the chest. “You know what, bud? You two aren’t the only shapeshifters here.”
“What’s this? Are you challenging me to one-on-one combat? I accept, then.” Rose’s claws glowed purple, indicating his intent to use Cross Poison.
“Hngh…” Ash could see small fireballs forming in his hands and felt so sure his attacks would deal some damage.
“Here it comes!” Rose drew in close.
“Yaaaah!” Ash planned to strike when Rose got within one meter, but to his chagrin, only tiny little embers shot out of his hands.
“Bahahahaha!” Conversely, Rose’s attack connected successfully. Afterwards, he grabbed Ash by the throat. “Is that all you got? A low-level Sizzlipede can do better than that!”
“Cough… Grr…” Thanks to Rose’s tough grip, he could feel himself rapidly running out of air.
“You will not stop me.” Rose held up a claw to Ash’s throat. “Nobody will.”
“No…” Goh trembled. Though he hadn’t used his shapeshifting powers in a while, when he saw Ash in grave peril, he knew he had to do something… Just a half-shift wouldn’t be enough. He summoned enough willpower to fully shift into Mew for the first time.
As soon as Goh did so, and before he could launch an attack, Leon gave Rose a giant Iron Tail in the back. “Let him go. Now.”
“What… What is the meaning of this?” Rose dropped Ash and turned around. “Leon, we’re supposed to be on the same side. Or did you forget all the kindness I’ve shown to you over the years?”
“G-Ghh…” Leon knelt to the ground as he could feel a massive headache coming on.
“Meeeeeew!” Goh unleashed an exceptionally formidable Psychic at Rose that was a direct hit.
“You… Ngh!” Rose couldn’t get up, but he could see the Pokemon that attacked him. “So you can shift after all. Not bad… Your attacks are super effective against me, so I’m going to have to keep my eyes on you.”
“It looks like you need some help, Rose.” Giovanni appeared in a helicopter over the now-much-bigger hole Rose entered from. “At least you located our escapee.”
“Alcremie!” Matcha Cream Alcremie cried, being held captive in a small cage.
“That’s one of Lily’s Alcremies!” Ash squeaked out, still weak from nearly being choked to death by Rose. “Give her back!”
“I tried to turn her Shadow, but it was too much effort… She’s not worthy to be on my team. Here, you can have her back.” Giovanni tossed Alcremie’s cage on the ground so hard that it broke.
“Cremie cremie!” Alcremie got onto Ash’s shoulder and hugged him.
“Besides, I’ve already gotten my prize!” Giovanni had a couple of his executives retrieve Leon’s cage. He took Rose into his own helicopter and had him put on a stretcher. “You owe me big time for this.”
And with that, Giovanni and all of his executives left the scene.
“Is it… over?” Chloe, who miraculously remained unharmed during this whole ordeal, stood up.
“Mew Mew.” Goh nodded, then turned his attention to his injured boyfriend. “Mew!”
“Goh…” Ash reached out to the fully transformed Goh. “I can’t believe it’s you… I mean, you were great out there.”
“That’s Goh?” Chloe blinked. “Beautiful… I mean, cute… Ugh, I don’t know what to say! He’s so stinkin’ adorable!”
“Pika pi?” Pikachu looked at Goh curiously.
“Mew Mew!” Goh smiled, poking Pikachu’s cheek playfully.
“I like you this way, too!” Ash would have chuckled if his throat didn’t hurt so badly. “Ow… Cough! Cough!”
“Mew!” Goh lightly touched the wounds covering Ash’s face and throat. “Mew…”
“Huh?” Ash noticed that some water came out of the pond nearby, sparkling. It touched him and every injured Pokemon, healing all their injuries and fatigue. “That must have been Life Dew!”
“Mew…” After using this power, Goh reverted to human form and nearly passed out.
Still in his human form, Cinderace caught Goh before he fell to the ground. “Master! Are you okay?”
Unlike Lily, Goh could still remember everything that happened from the Rose battle until now. “Y-Yeah. I’ve never used that kind of power before, so I’m a little tired.”
“I’m just glad that you and our babies are still okay.” Ash touched Goh’s baby bump and received a kick in return.
“Wait, what?” Chloe looked dumbfounded. “Who is this weird guy who looks like Cinderace?”
“Well, Cinderace,” Cinderace replied bluntly. “I am a shifter, but I just prefer my Pokemon form. Pikachu, Lucario, Rillaboom, and Inteleon are the same.”
“Ooh, okay.” Chloe seemed to understand, but was still shocked.
Inteleon took that moment to turn into a human. In this form, she had a blue, white and black body suit. A yellow cape hung from under her long blonde and blue hair, and her tail stuck out from her lower back. “Cinderace, let me take care of Master Goh for the day. You’ve been through too much.”
“Thanks, man. Well, let’s get out of here. I think we can all agree that we’ve had enough training for one day, yeah?”
“For once.” Ash got up, using Lucario as a crutch.
Lucario also turned into human form and offered Cinderace a helping hand. “You need some help getting out of here, buddy?”
“I’m good. Master Goh’s Life Dew should give me enough strength to at least make it home.”
“Speaking of home, do you want me to make you something when we get back home?”
“Just Pokemon food will do.” Cinderace changed expressions when he noticed that Lucario looked a little down. “What’s wrong?”
“Nothing!” The normally stoic Lucario blushed. “It was just a question!”
Cinderace picked up on this expression. “Ooh… If I didn’t know any better, I would think that someone has a crush on me!”
“Shut up! I do not!” Lucario denied it.
“Wow.” Goh watched as even in Chloe’s van, the two continued to tease each other. He whispered to Ash, “I kind of suspected there was something going on between those two during our food tour in the Unova region. Whatever the case, I hope things turn out okay for them.”
“I hope so, too.” Ash held Goh’s arm tightly, stroking his baby bump with the other. “I’m so sorry I couldn’t protect you two… The father should be protecting his pregnant partner, not the other way around.”
“Hey, we’re a couple, and that means we’re in it together. Don’t doubt my strength.”
“I don’t doubt you at all, babe.” Ash leaned his head into Goh’s shoulder. “No matter what Giovanni and Rose try to throw at us… We’re going to come out on top.”

Chrysanthemums and Daisies (Roman Reigns X Jey Uso)
Chapter 6: Insults and Interference
“What?!”
Chrysanthemum turned to Daisy with an incredulous look on her face, following the insane demand she had just made.
“Don’t look at me like that. I want you to ban Jey from ringside for Roman’s match tonight.”
It sounded even crazier the second time she said it. Daisy was all too serious though, sitting with her arms folded on the arm of Chrysanthemum’s office couch. Surprisingly, this was the first time the two sisters had actually sat in her office and spoke since the night of Daisy’s debut; not to say they weren’t speaking outside of work, but when they were at work the duo was just plain distant.
“Why on Earth would you want me to do that Daisy?”
Daisy scoffed at her sister; sometimes her head could be just as empty as people perceived Daisy’s to be.
“Shall I write you a list your majesty? How ‘bout so it can be a fair fight for a change? What’s the point in having a rematch anyway if you’re just gonna let shit play out the same way each time. It’s boring.”
Chrysanthemum sneered at the sarcasm and spite in her younger sister’s voice, but she chalked it up to PMS and maintained her composure. She’d just finished hers and of course being sisters, well you understand.
“Daisy, let’s leave the big decisions to me okay? I love you to pieces but it’s really not your forte nor is it your business. I don’t tell you how to wrestle.”
“Because you can’t.”
Daisy quickly shrunk into her seat at the speed of Chrysanthemum’s nasty glare towards her, it was meant as only a small dig but obviously this wasn’t the forum, the tension already at a hundred. Meanwhile, Chrysanthemum once again gripped tightly to her calm sanity as she walked towards Daisy. After a deep breath she spoke to her sister again.
“Why are you in here making demands on Jey’s behalf anyways? I’m sure his mouth works perfectly fine.”
‘It sure does’
Daisy giggled quietly at her own thoughts.
“Come on sis, you know Jey is only doing this because his cousin forces him too. I mean what type of family threatens to throw you out of it because you won’t do his bidding? Your champion is an asshole, an evil one at that.”
Chrysanthemum sighed, wishing she was in a position to defend her champion. There wasn’t much she could say though; they both knew that the people they were in and outside of work were two things that would clash if they ever merged. It was a power thing, and of course only her and Roman would understand.
“Look Daisy, I bet Jey probably appreciates you sticking your neck out like this,  but the answer is no. I make matches, not interfere in them.”
Daisy scoffed, an even bigger one this time, and rolled her eyes at her sister. As cute and kind as she was, she had a natural bratty side that simply came with being the younger sibling, and it always when she couldn’t get something she wanted, especially at the hands of her sister. No matter the situation it was always Chrysanthemum’s way or the freeway, and when she wasn’t on the winning side of that it irked her in more ways than she could imagine.
“You’re such a punk.”
Anticipating the strike that was most likely coming, Daisy stood up and moved out of arms reach as she said that. Chrysanthemum, though a ways past irritated now, didn’t hit her sister and instead plopped onto her couch with a groan. She knew the childish temper tantrum that was coming from years of experience, and tonight she simply would not feed into it.
“Whatever Daisy.”
Daisy’s blood was starting to boil a bit as her sister scrolled through her phone; she hated being dismissed more than she hated being told no, and when Chrysanthemum started this nonchalant bullshit with her it made Daisy want to tear her hair out.
“You and Vince McMahon, y’all protect him like he’s a boy. Next time you see him tell him I said to grow some balls between his legs if he wants to carry that championship.”
When Chrysanthemum still paid her no mind, Daisy’s fast mouth took it ten steps further before she even had a chance to think about it.
“You probably won’t though, they’ll be too busy in your mouth.”
She knew she’d succeeded in getting a reaction out of her sister when she dropped the phone from her hand, but when she saw the rage in Chrysanthemum’s stare as she stood up from the couch, Daisy knew she’d gone too far. If she was expecting a hit before, she could anticipate an ass beating now.
“Get out.”
Chrysanthemum was fuming, legit shaking, with rage as she got in her sister’s face. Her heels made her a couple inches taller than she already was over Daisy, and she could see the slight fear in her eyes.
“Look I’m sorry okay, I took that too far.”
Flames of anger still licked up Chrysanthemum’s blood stream even following Daisy’s apology.
“Get out Daisy.”
Her voice was calmer but still enraged, and Daisy saw there was no fixing this situation right now. A few salty tears pooled into her irises as she turned away from Chrysanthemum and walked out, gently closing the door behind her.
Chrysa fell back to the couch with her hand covering her forehead. The fears of her nightmares were already beginning to take root in her conscious reality, and it’d only been a few weeks. She wanted only to protect her sister from the subsequent crash and burn that her hasty actions often gifted her, but it was becoming apparent that Daisy was already beginning to resent that. Not only that; Chrysanthemum feared that this sudden uproar was not of Daisy’s own will, made obvious by the person she stormed in to defend.
Chrysanthemum could tell this was headed for a very messy direction,and usually the one to jump in front of the train to take the blow, this was the first time her position in the matter left her hands tied.
She’d just have to pray it’d blow over.
~~~~~~~~~
Daisy was still fuming following her earlier exchange with her sister, Jey had noted the fire in her eyes when she came to sit with him while he strapped up for his match. Of course, being akin to the “Head of The Table” didn’t secure you a locker room, or a maintenance closet for that matter. Instead the duo sat a few feet from the bathroom on a rolling crate, taking turns wrapping each other’s hands and lacing boots.
“Are you excited for your rematch with Liv babe?”
Jey assumed his words had fallen on deaf ears when Daisy didn’t reply, but upon a quick glance up from his fists he realized that she was staring intently at him.
“Daisy?”
It’d been a short four weeks, but even Jey could say he didn’t recognize the look in his girls eyes. He’d never seen her green eyes look so cold, and distant. What he didn’t know is that her infatuation with AJ Lee might’ve run a little deeper than attire and move set. The most advanced translator couldn’t transcript what was going on in Daisy’s head, for it was a whirlwind of emotion and angst.
“Babe?”
A dangerous sparkle was alight in Daisy’s eyes as she all of a sudden snapped awake from her trance.
“What if we interfere in your cousins match tonight? Like I can come out during the match and distract him somehow, and you kick his head off while he isn’t looking.”
Jey was floored. What scared him most was she was being serious, like deathly.  She spoke with no hesitation, and stared into his eyes the entire time.
“Daisy...I appreciate that ma but I can’t have you inserting yourself in family business like that. It’s not safe.”
The rejection made her tongue thick with spite.
“Well it’s not like anyone else is doing anything about it. We have to take a stand baby.”
Daisy framed her man’s face in both her small hands, hoping the intimacy would be enough to convince him. She had already been told ‘no’ once tonight, she couldn’t accept hearing it a second time.
Jey sighed taking both her hands in his, both overwhelmed and frightened by the depths of his girl’s loyalty.
“Thank you for being a solider babe, but I made this bed and I gotta lie in it. You should focus on your match with Liv, don’t worry about me. I got this.”
Jey sealed his promise with a chaste kiss to her lips.
“I promise.”
Daisy sighed in defeat, she still hadn’t gotten her way but he had succeeded in soothing the savage beast, at least for now. A brief smile appeared on Daisy lips, but the moment was fleeting as she caught a glimpse of Roman rounding the corner.
“Let’s go.”
Roman didn’t break his stride as he passed the two, barely sparing his cousin a passing glance.
Jey and Daisy exchanged glances, the warmth of her palms still radiating on his cheeks as they fell from his face. Daisy was visibly upset again, but with his cousin already down the hall there wasn’t much Jey could do. He left her with a lingering kiss to the crown of her head before jogging down the hall to catch up with his cousin.
Daisy eyes bore flaming holes into the back of Roman’s head as the two continued down the hall. Right before they disappeared Roman glanced behind him; meeting the rage in Daisy’s features. The fierceness in her gaze shook him a little bit as was telling from his expression. Daisy smirked coyly as he turned his back to her and continued walking.
She’d just have to take him down herself.
Pokemon Journeys Episode 47. Let’s review:
1. The new little update to the episode prologue sequence shown above is a very welcomed addition! It really captures each Pokemon’s personality well, from Cinderace carrying his little bro Sobble to Dragonite lightly pushing Lucario in like a parent and their embarrassed child. Fafrfetch’d still needs more appearances tho.
2. That Vigoroth trainer looks like Lillie. When can we see her again?
3. I just LOVE that Dragonite continuously holds onto Ash before the contest starts. It’s things like this that make me headcanon that Dragonite has broken into Ash and Goh’s room a couple of times to take Ash to the garden and cuddle him like a teddy bear just so he can sleep better.
4. Throughout the episode, I love the fact that we get to see more of Chrysa’s personality outside the lab. Now let’s hope the other assistants can some actual development, because honestly speaking, they’re overall the most uninteresting and dull reoccurring characters the entire anime has had so far. (and considering how long we’ve had the anime, that is saying something)
5. Lucario and Cinderace sleeping next to each other? Adorable. Hey, Ash and Goh, perhaps you two should take this as a sign and give some attention to your other mons. I mean, please?
6. And now Dragonite is licking Ash like a doggo. I hear-by grant Dragonite the honorable nickname of Draggo.
7. Gonna be honest, I kinda forgot that TR’s Morpeko friend even existed. Nice for it to get some development/screen time as well though.
8. It’s pretty awesome seeing a bunch of old faces again, like Hydreigon and Blaziken. Many even spark with personality too! Great touches.
9. I’m so glad Chloe became interested in the competition right after disregarding the whole event, as it’s a very welcomed step-up from her usual unlikeable ‘I’m-too-good-for-everything’ attitude. Now let’s hope the writers continue to development her.
10. Honestly, if you enter an eating competition with a small, simple Pokemon while knowing mons like Snorlax will be competing, you deserve a big fat L. Sorry kiddos.
11. Plump draggo is best draggo. And since Ash is eliminated, looks like this is going to be another Goh’s Gets Another W Episode. Y’know, right after standing up to Mewtwo.... and capturing Eternatus..... and defeating Oleana..... and easily handling a Zapdos..... and catching a powerful Flygon.... and scoring a free Hitmonchan.... (sighs in frustration that can only be cured by draggo hugs)
12. My friends of Team Rocket, if you somehow got your hands on cookies that instantly inflate your belly and fill up your hunger, why not just eat them yourself if you’re so hungry?
13. Why is watching a Blaziken eat to stoically so satisfying?
14. Honestly speaking, James’ strategy of forcing his opponent’s Glalie to freeze up their dish to prevent it from eating was a lot more impressive than Goh picking the dish that Muk would like the least. sry opinions
15. Where did Skwovent even get that Tamato Berry? Isn’t that kind of like... cheating???
16. They tried to feed Blaziken Torchic-shaped snacks. Pardon mon le swears, but that’s fucked up. And Blaziken even sough to protect them!! THAT’S FREAKING ADORABLE!!!! Augh, I really need to uses a Blaziken in the games again...
17. Was Ash and Pikachu’s little knowledge over Blaziken’s evolution line a callback to May, or am I just overthinking things?
18. Morpeko is suddenly satisfied and Skwovent evolves into Greedent just as the right time. Yeah, it’s a Goh W episode.
19. Why is Greedent still eating? Should’ve Goh won by default since Blaziken left and Morpeko launched itself and TR away?
20. And like that, Goh wins. Surprised Lucario face.
And that’s the episode. A filler episode leading onto another filler episode, judging by the preview for the next one, but that’s totally fine. I honestly feel many people sometimes underestimate the pros of filler, whether it be for Pokemon or any other anime series. Yes, it doesn’t help move the plot, but filler can be good ways for characters to have fun, showcase comical moments, and make the world feel alive. While this episode had its share of funny moments and charming character interactions, the plot was kinda too predictable, but eh, it’s only filler so it’s no big deal.
I’d give this episode a 6.5/10. Funny and cute, but not really anything else.
