Opinion — Imperfection —
Those we all must have -
To Butt out Heads,-
Superior —
And Fall on Soiled ground —
The Sky can tell you what is right,-
And the Patterns of the sand —
Though - we are imperfect -
We live on perfect Land —

Oh my fucking god
I just had an epiphany ok ok ok hear me out:
So we know that classical poems/epics were written during a time in which certain stories about certain characters were celebrated whether the people believed in the gods or not (ie. babylonian mythology, greek mythology, etc.)
Ok so now in the modern world a lot of people have their religion(s) and beliefs but they're not quite going out of their way to create stories inspired by said religions.
But you know who is writing stories about beloved and impactful characters?
Fanfic authors who specialize in writing fantasy fanfics that involve gods.
So what if millenia from now old archives of ao3 are recovered and are deemed as epic poems simply because a group of people was so invested into the stories of their characters?!?!?!
man I love humans and their cute little brains

My favourite part of Dante's Inferno so far is when he's like 'Yeah all the famous poets are in hell but it's a cool part of hell for awesome people.'
I'm friends with a lot of poets and can confirm that "Eternal Torment But In A ✨Special✨ Way" is the most on brand version of an afterlife imaginable.

Apparently, all of Adam Mickiewicz’s friends described his eyes as different colours, and his love Maryla said/wrote that they were changing colours, and it got me thinking…. Heterochromatic Mickiewicz canon?!???

about her
sweet lips hold mine
kindred souls entwined
your soft smile lights
what a loving mind finds
heart calls to heart
in your warm embrace
what draws me near
is your sweetest soft grace

"Myrrha's Son" - a poem written 4/08/2024
Inspired by the passage in The Wild Irish Girl (1806) by Sydney Owenson, Lady Morgan:
In short, there are a thousand little fugitive graces playing around her, which are not beauty, but the cause of it; and were I to personify the word spell, she should sit for the picture.

We could’ve never loved the earth so well if we have not a childhood in it, if it were not the earth where same flowers come up again every spring, that we wrap around with our tiny fingers.
What novelty is worth that sweet monotony where everything is known and loved because it is known.
— George Eliot, the Mill on the Floss

Am I Polluted?
Or are They?-
They don’t know Which -
To my dismay.
Am I supposed to ask the Jay?
“The Air’s polluted!”
She would say.
Well - what is right and what
Is wrong?
Suppose - the Jay’s
Untarnished song -
That Burns me bright -
Out to the night -
And as my Smoke -
Her Tune - prolongs -

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, I am not meant to be human in mortal world
I am meant to be a character in studio ghibli films

Every time I read a poem that describes something to the extent of "You and I are mortal but I will write about you/us so you/our love remains eternal" I get emotional
Like yeah, I -in the far future- am reading about you, you did immortalize your other half, you succeeded
