I'm really trying with Winter's Orbit but somehow it's just not doing it for me...

#im only 28 pages in so i should read some more before i give up but damn :/#there's just....a lot of infodumping of worldbuilding and a lot of telling and not showing re: characters' feelings #like i just read the whole funeral scene in the bath and I couldn't even get a read of how Jainan felt about his dead spouse #i just keep comparing it to A Strange and Stubborn Endurance and it keeps coming up short :/#which sucks bc i know a lot of people love this book #can't even say im not in the mood for a gay romance at the moment bc between movie choices and fanfic choices...i am Very in the mood for it #idk. I'll give it till page 50 #last year i read the Big Three of Gay Romantasies (Witchmark / A Marvelous Light / A Strange & Stubborn Endurance)#specifically cute fluffy gay romances with like mystery plotlines #and i haven't really felt the urge to read any since so maybe im just maxxed out on that subgenre?#unlike Lesbian Atrocities which i will read endlessly #or maybe i just don't like this one book and im making mountains out of molehills #gonna go listen to placebo and rotate my blorbos now
