Touya being the unofficial relationship counselor among his siblings. They'll rant about and bemoan their relationship struggles to him, not specifically seeking advice but just to vent, only for him to spout some laser-pointed statements at them without deigning them worth his full attention except for when they're being especially annoying and self-pitying. Or dense to their problems.
"Fuyumi, the reason your relationships don't last is because trying to get to know you is like trying to cut a vegetable with a foam knife. Frustrating and gets you nowhere. And you're not fun or sponteanous enough to be a fun fling. I know you're worried your only notable traits is being a stand-in mom, but either get over it or try to develop more of a personality if it worries you so much."
"Natsu, obviously you're having communication issues when you refuse to ever talk about your own problems or gripes. You're not fucking special enough to be ignored by the whole world to justify not talking about your issues. It's fucking frustrating trying to comfort you because of it. Now go call your girlfriend and talk shit out."
"Shouto it sounds like you're used to getting your way in some fashion and having a hard time adjusting to bullheaded stubborness not solving everything. Pull your head out of your ass and the tunnel, Shouto. Also you're emulating father with that pushy behaviour, cut it out."
And during a time they're all meeting up at Fuyumi's place, they ask how the hell he's so good at this. Touya just kinda shrugs and drops an unexpected bomb on the kotatsu they're all huddled around.
"I do have a boyfriend."
Shouto, Fuyumi, and Natsuo stares back at him. Touya stares back, not getting why they suddenly got all quiet, or are looking at him like he's grown a second head.
Then Touya's eyes widen in realisation. "Oh shit, I forgot to tell you."
"Forgot?!" Natsuo exclaims.
"Apparently. Guess that's what strained family relationships does to you."
"How long??" Fuyumi asks.
"Five years, give or take. Took like a year before we made it official."
"Five years?!"
"Where do you think I got all my 'wisdom' as you brats call it from? That's fucking experience talking. And an outsider perspective is way fucking easier when it comes to spotting pitfalls."
"Who is it?" Shouto asks, curious. "Do we know them?"
"Yeah, it's Tenko," Touya answers easily. Then he narrows his eyes. "Wait, did you really not suspect it at all?"
Shouto tilts his head in response. "Why should we have?"
"Not you so much, you were a baby, but Fuyumi and Natsu definitely. I stayed more at Tenko's place than at the house as a teenager and he showed up at the house all the time when I actually was there."
Natso and Fuyumi absorb this, thinking back. Fuyumi rubs the corners of her eyes, messing up her glasses. "Looking back, yeah, now I feel dumb for not noticing."
"You really were together all the time," Natsuo muses, staring at the ceiling as he goes through memories of his brother and his best friend near attached at the hip. Shimura really would just show up at the house no matter the hour. Sometimes Natsuo would wake up and Shimura would be there when he definitely hadn't been the night before. Thinking back, it was always when Touya was feeling especially bad.
"Now I've got something tangible to point at when you all try to claim you're not dense as fuck."
Natsuo thinks back, to Shimura Tenko and his brother, and how Tenko would get this look in his eyes whenever he looked at his brother, how his posture would straighten up from a slouch and tense in what he could with the power of hindsight recognise as protectiveness. All without Touya noticing. And he thinks his brother probably couldn't talk about being dense to them. But then again, he's had what appears to be a stable relationship for five years now.
"Does he still slouch all the time?" Natsuo can't help but ask.
"Nah," Touya sips from his tea cup. "Enough slaps to the ass to make him jerk straight fixed it."
"Bro, too much info."
"I've listened to every single one of you's woes about intimacy, you have no right to complain. Be happy I'm not using it as blackmail."

It’s been a hot minute since I read the S&S chapters so forgive me if I’m getting some details wrong but I believe there’s a way to look at the S&S fight without labeling it as an unnecessary fight
It’s about how S&S was inspired by All Might, much like Izuku. However, S&S is a kind of justice that’s ignorant, that uses excessive force to win a fight, that believes what she is doing is in the best of interests but refuses to see it any other way
It’s like. It’s a fight with only one ending, between two/three stubborn enemies
One who believes what she is doing is the only right way but actively goes out of her way to kill the enemy no matter what, one who will stop at nothing to get whatever he wants and controls his victim’s mind and body (takes away his autonomy to the point where they aren’t “separate people” but instead “one person”), and one who is a victim in all of this but wholeheartedly believes he was always bad and so has his heart set on destruction despite the fact that, deep down, he wants to be saved
It’s sad because if S&S had taken All Might’s influence and HADN’T turned it into a whole Strength thing, if she was someone like Izuku who saw All Might’s influence and learned that incredible power should be used to save, not to kill, then she probably could have stopped TomurAFO, captured him and taken him to All Might or something
I believe the point of S&S, one of the points at least, is that if you solely view All Might’s existence as a power fantasy, then you’re getting nowhere and completely missing what it means to be a hero
Look at it this way - S&S’ role in the manga was just to rule out one route the story could have taken
Anybody looking at TomurAFO and thinking “If All Might were in his prime form, HE could have taken him out and the world would be saved!” is then faced with a character who was inspired a lot by All Might and gives off the impression that they can do anything (COUGH confident intimidating appearance COUGH a quirk that allows the user incredible power COUGH)
She then serves her purpose by cutting AFO’s quirks down by half, showing that not everybody inspired by All Might does the right thing and shows the audience that Tomura immediately thought about Izuku when “someone who will inherit the will of heroism” is mentioned
Yes, while someone like All Might may be able to go head to head with TomurAFO and do some real damage, the point ISN’T that TomurAFO needs to be defeated and killed
The point is that TomurAFO is a fusion of an abuser and his victim, and anybody who NEEDS help should be given that help no matter what
S&S, someone similar to All Might who COULD have killed TomurAFO and prevented destruction, someone who saw his death as the only way to end this, is taken out of the running
Tumblr media
Enter: Izuku Midoriya
Tumblr media
You know, the one Tenko thought of at the mention “inheriting the will of heroism”
Tumblr media
Idk I just. I can’t see the S&S chapters as pointless. They serve their purpose by letting the reader know that force and death is not the way out of this, that it’s not the story this manga is trying to tell

It all feels like a retcon starting from the first look at toga’s backstory because it doesn’t sync up when you put all her actions together. I thought maybe hori was trying to say toga’s quirk became unfortunately linked to arousal after years of suppressing it and it being triggered by her feeling of admiration for her crushes. But yeah that would have been too mature to tackle for my hero though I could maybe see it with chainsaw man. So I don’t know get what’s going on right now except toga’s mentally ill because of her parents and society and he keeps trying to make last minute parallels between toga and touya.
I think the issue is that Hori never spent as much time or effort on Toga as he did with Shigaraki and Touya. Even now her backstory is rather limited in comparison. We got full chapters worth to explore what happened to Touya and Tenko but Toga's is a couple pages or panels here or there with everything being rather vague.
Hori likes using her for sexy pictures and drawing suggestive stuff with Ochako, but she ultimately isn't given as much thought as her male counter parts. Which given the already bad implications of her character has only made her even worse.
Take this latest chapter. We get this page for Quirk counseling.
Tumblr media
It's just 2 panels that are honestly really vague. It also comes after her drinking blood from a bird her parents think she killed. Toga says it fell on the ground but that doesn't mean she didn't kill it (baby birds are often on the ground until they fully can fly, or it could have been injured), so that's not helpful either. On top of that it makes sense her parents would find the behavior bad regardless because it either means she killed an animal or picked up an already dead one and proceeded to eat it. Neither of those are great and both are harmful to her.
We just don't really get a good look at how the Quirk counseling worked. They say that they'll make her 'normal' but that doesn't mean they abused her. They could have just explained why it was wrong for her drink blood, like the health issues it could cause. On top of that Hori drops the 'it happens all the time in our current society' line, but we have never seen anyone else like Toga. Not even Stain was ever hinted at being like Toga despite their similar blood based powers.
This is like if we reduced the Touya chapters to a black screen with Enji commenting that he can't train him anymore and we didn't get to see how much Touya struggled with what he perceived as rejection, or how Enji completely ignored him afterwards. Or if we cut Shigaraki's father's abuse to just him yelling at him in black panels before he accidentally killed his family.
Tumblr media
Then we get this. This honestly makes Toga look worse, not better in my opinion. We see that she drank blood from someone before she snapped at school. She says they got hurt so she kissed it better, but if you look at her, she is covered in quite a bit of blood. Maybe her friend did get hurt but they were either really badly hurt and bleeding a lot and Toga did not help them and instead started licking them, or she might have even made their injuries worse to get the blood she wants.
If Hori cared more about her character he would have been shown what happened here. Or in the very least put less blood if any on Toga, which would show she didn't hurt this person or ignore helping them with a serious injury because she can't think of anything but blood.
As it is we have no idea if her friend got really badly injured and Toga ignored helping to just feast on them, or if her friend told her to stop, or if she made the person's injures worse. Yes, her parents are wrong for saying Toga's not human, but if she's attacking injured friends that's a huge problem.
One of the biggest issues with Toga is that she is both portrayed as so obsessed and desperate for blood she can't comprehend why anyone might not like her shoving a straw in their neck, but at the same time she was and is at times able to be perfectly fine. She can't understand why Ochako or Izuku, in desperate situations caused in part by her might not be happy with her, but can also turn around and comfort Twice and understand that he feels responsible for the death of a team mate.
It's impossible for me to feel bad for her because when I read her chapters I just see a drawing of an offensive stereotype that does what ever the author wants them to do. Toga just doesn't feel like a person at all. She's nothing but the sexy shell of a teenage girl that Hori doesn't seem all that invested in past her being cute and giving him an excuse to have two girls being all touchy and hot.
#ask#thanks for the ask!#bnha spoilers#bnha#mha#anti himiko toga#anti villain#bnha critical#shes just impossible to take seriously#cuz idk how she can be the most emotionally mature of the LoV#but somehow not get consent#like girl have you ever tried asking to drink someones blood before using them as a juice box?#did it really not occur to you that maybe people don't like being stabbed#i mean she never tries to attack any of her friends despite saying she loves them now#the only time she pulled a knife on Shigaraki was to threaten him#which means she does get that knives are threatening#yet she still throws a shit fit when Ochacko and Izuku are not happy with almost getting stabbed#like im sorry but that makes no sense even if she is really mentally ill#and if she was that mentally ill she never would have been able to pass as 'normal' until she was 14 or 15#i also don't believe that neither her parents of the councilor ever explained why she shouldn't attack people#and just told her don't do that#even the abusive horrible gay conversion camps give people reasons they shouldn't be gay--even if they're all wrong#i just don't believe that they didn't tell her that it was at least dangerous for her after the bird#or say don't drink blood from people because they won't like it or that it hurts them#idk her character just drives me insane#and i legit don't get how there are people who think shes great#both as bi rep and as a well thought out character#she doesn't have a brain half the time and makes zero sense#and complains about people not liking her for very valid reasons#like shes just a whiny incel whose upset she can't attack people whenever she feels like it

the Junko and Mukuro ditzy little brother prompt so how about dealing with the girl that he has a crush on and also first finding out their precious baby brother has a crush, but with Maki and Tenko I just would love to see them being overprotective big sisters and wanting their brother to be with a girl that treats them right. Lol let's hope tenko passes
Junko and Mukuro Finding out their Ditzy Younger Brother has a Crush on Maki and Tenko (separate)
Tumblr media
Dealing with Maki
They’re not a fan of her
Junko thinks she’s a creepy bitch, and Mukuro thinks she’s sketchy
For someone who was the “Ultimate Child Caregiver”, she had a very unfriendly attitude
Mukuro isn’t even sure that’s her real talent
Technically she would be correct, but we’re leaving that out
So what do they do?
SPY
They follow you and spectate your little hangouts
You seem much happier with her, and even Maki is smiling more
But nah, fuck that
The second you leave, they’re on your ass
“(Name)! What the hell are you doing with creepy pigtails girl?!”
“Easy, Junko. (Name), we’re concerned that Harukawa isn’t everything she says she is. We advise that you steer clear of her.”
You didn’t take that shit and booked it straight home
Junko doesn’t feel bad about it, but Mukuro can’t take you ignoring her
As long as you’re happy, that’s all that matters, right?
So they reconciled with you and had a talk with Maki
“I already know you two don’t trust me. You think I can’t hear you spying on (Name) and I? And you don’t have to worry. I may not be the most approachable person, but (Name) means a lot to me, and I’m not gonna sit around and bully him.”
They’re still wary of her, but at least she makes you happy
So they can tolerate her for now
Up until the truth comes out
Dealing with Tenko
HELL. NO.
No brother of theirs is gonna end up with a sexist bitch
Their words, not mine
They had no idea why you tried so hard to be her friend, but it wasn’t worth it
It couldn’t have been
Even when they spy on the two of you, it pisses them off
Tenko acts like such a bitchy tsundere towards you, even though she isn’t directly rejecting your offers to hang out
They’re about to interrupt when Tenko suddenly excuses herself
And you’re still staring after her with that dumb, lovestruck look in your eyes
After she leaves, they jump out and confront you
“(Name), what the fuck was that?! I know you’re always on our asses for being overprotective, but that was just ridiculous! Grow some self-respect, jeez!”
“I have to agree. No amount of desperation is worth the way she treats you.”
And like always, things don’t go well and you ghost them for a while
But both of them think they’re totally in the right
You deserve way better than that
But of course, you disobey their wishes and continue hanging out with Tenko
They’re prepared to shut it down until they notice something different
Tenko was… Improving?
She was a lot less rude towards you, though she still seemed stiff and awkward
At this point, this was driving them nuts
They needed to know what Tenko’s angle was
So they confronted her after you left
“I get why you two are worried. My master taught me to be wary of men. But (Name) has been helping me get better about it, even though I was super rude to him. But I promise it’s not gonna happen again. Even if it’ll take getting used to, I’ll give him all the love he deserves, I swear!
They’re still not sure where they stand with her, but she seemed truthful, so maybe they can give her a chance
So then, they reconcile with you and give you their “blessings” to date Tenko
They’ll still spy on you guys every once in a while, to make sure Tenko holds up her promise
And if she continues, maybe they can tolerate her

if a woman has a crush on the uchiha brothers BUT they are not interested 🔥?
Madara
I truly believe this depends?? On a bad day he’s either going to snub her by ignoring her very existence or look right into her soul and tell her she’s absolutely pathetic. On a good day, it’s still a rude “no” because he doesn’t have time for silly misunderstandings
Izuna
He’s going to laugh smugly and tell her everything he doesn’t like about her and then as where she got the audacity to ever think she had a chance with him. He’s brutal
Inari
He doesn’t know what to do because he doesn’t like hurting peoples feelings. What is he supposed to do? It would be the most gentle turn down accompanied with a lot of compliments and reassurance that the right one is out there
Kota
He’s very blunt and would just say he isn’t interested before walking away
Tenko
Let the “why?” Games begin, “i like you” “why?”. He’s asking why nonstop, not to aggravate her necessarily, but to get this woman to see that there is absolutely nothing he did that could lead her to the conclusion that he would accept her feelings. Honestly sounds like a her problem, not a him problem to him. But he’d be willing to doll her up and play her wingman so she can find a new object of her desire.

Why Shiggy and the Meta Liberation Army should be in BNHA:V
Okay! So, surprisingly a lot of people have taken an interest in something I said about why the villains in “My Hero Academia” and “MHA: Illegals / Vigilantes” should be switched. Everyone was super patient, and I’m really grateful for it, so here’s the post!
Now, before reading, keep in mind that this is all opinion based. Also, you’re going to be seeing a lot of “what I would have done” or “they should have done this.” This isn’t me saying that I’m better than the author (I’m not. I constantly struggle with my fanfics). This is just me discussing some things for fun.
(In other words, take it with a grain of salt.)
And please keep in mind that the Main Series is still ongoing and nearly 400 chapters long, while the Spin-off is nearly 130, so I may get some things wrong. (If that’s the case, please be polite in your corrections. Otherwise, you'll be ignored and blocked.)
Notes:
*Spoilers!
**My Hero Academia Main Series
**My Hero Academia: Vigilantes / Illegals
*Some Tomura Shigaraki Critical (Well, to be accurate it’s how the Main Series treated him.)
*Long Post, which is why there are no images
*I am writing this while sick (not sick-sick, but sick enough) so grammar may be off and I may forget a few things.
So, here’s a quick summary on both the main antagonists and the protagonist.
Let’s start with our hero first;
Koichi Haimawari is the protagonist of the BNHA spin-off, BNHA Illegals / Vigilantes. Like Izuku, he had dreams of becoming a hero. Unfortunately, he missed his testing because he stopped to save a drowning young girl. Because of this, he spent his life living as a "normal" person, who isn’t allowed to use his quirk. Even so, Koichi had an innate desire to help others. Because of this, he would secretly go out at night doing small things like helping people find their way, finding lost items, and crossing the street—actions which are technically against the law as it’s an illegal use of quirks. One day while saving a girl from a group of thugs, he meets a mentor named Knuckle Duster, who wants to train him as a vigilante. At first, Koichi refuses, wanting to be a “good citizen” but finds he’s not the type to sit back and do nothing as people are getting hurt. So, he starts training under Knuckle Duster till the latter leaves, leaving Koichi to do what he can, which amounts to usually distracting the villain till a hero shows up (though he gets a few good moments). After helping to defeat Six at the end of the series, Koichi goes to America to become Captain Sunshine’s sidekick.
Now, on to our “tragic” villains.
Shigaraki Tomura, real name Shimura Tenko, is a young man who is descended from one of the One for All users and All Might’s mentor, Shimura Nana. He grew up in an abusive home, as his father would beat him for his desire to become a hero. His father hated Nana for giving him up, believing she abandoned him for her hero work. (Not realizing that even if she retired, her enemies would still go after her and him.) One day, Shiggy’s quirk manifested. With it, he accidentally killed his entire family, including his dog. He wanders around in the street for a long time, but even though adults saw him, they would look and walk away, stating that a hero would come to help. But one never did. Instead, All for One, the main villain of the series, came. He took Shiggy in and for the next decade, or so, brainwashed him to make him his successor and his new body, choosing him specifically to try and affect All Might. Just before All for One is captured, he passes his quirk to Shiggy. Thus Shiggy becomes the “big bad” of the story (in writing, but we’ll get to it). He tries to gather villains to his aid but struggles. Eventually, he “succeeds” by beating the Meta Liberation Army leader. Now we discover that he is possessed by AFO’s consciousness which will swallow his if Izuku can’t reach him.
The Meta Liberation Army is a group of Villains with political power. They advocate for the right for normal people to be allowed to use their quirks unrestricted, which they claim is a human right. However, their methods are villainous, including domestic terrorism, kidnapping, and murder, hence their villain status. After Shiggy beats Re-Destro, they join the LoV and help in the destruction of Japan. Now that we have the basic intros, let’s move on to the reason we’re here; why do I think that the villains should be switched? As well, as some plot points? Well, first off the MLA and Shiggy fit the tone of BNHA:V better. The Spin-off is mainly supposed to be a story about “ordinary” people doing what they can. So, it would fit better with the theme of the story if the villains weren’t part of some overly complicated secret drug organization but were instead “normal” people who fell through the cracks or fighting for their rights. In this case, Shiggy and the Meta Liberation Army.
It’s actually interesting how little has to be changed for Six and Shiggy to switch places.
Merely have it that instead of Shiggy meeting AFO, he meets a member of the Meta Liberation Army. His backstory can stay the same. Abusive daddy with mommy issues (only this time the heroine is a random hero, not Nana), quirk going wrong, people being assholes and ignoring a child in distress, and being taken in by an extremist. (Serious, aside from giving a reason for AFO to take a special interest in him, Nana plays no role in Shiggy’s arc or development. Write her out, and almost everything stays the same.)
In fact, I believe wholeheartedly that Shiggy’s backstory would be better and more natural fits the overall theme of BNHA:V.
Again, the theme is about ordinary people doing what they can, and with Shiggy, no one did the bare minimum. (Serious, sit the child down, call the police, wait for a hero or policeman to arrive, then leave. Boom! There’s one less terrorist in the world.)
Aside from everything All for One did, Shigaraki only became a villain because ordinary people, for whatever reason, didn’t do anything. If ordinary people had done the bare minimum and tried to help Shiggy out, then he wouldn’t be a villain.
Plus, everything that makes him an ill-fitted villain in the main series is what makes him a great villain in the spin-off.
Now, what makes Shiggy a bad villain in the main series? Well, bad isn’t the right word. It’s more like he’s not as strong there in a narrative sense.
First, Shiggy has no personal connection to the main heroes, in this case, All Might and Izuku. The story tries to give that to us with Nana, but really think about it; how does it affect them overall? Honestly, it just gives All Might a sense of guilt that AFO is using Shiggy. That’s it. As for Izuku, the two had one confrontation one on one for over 300 chapters. ONE.
Honestly, Izuku had a deeper connection with Overhaul and Muscular. Both were the first real villains Izuku took on in a fight, who taught him what it means to be a hero and why heroes have to fight villains. Bottom line, there is one thing to connect Shiggy and Izuku as rivals; their mentors hate each other. (Okay, and Izuku wants to “save” Shiggy and Shiggy wants to be saved but still.
In addition, MHA is a story that needs an active villain to push the story along, as it's a series with an overreaching plot. Shiggy is NOT an active villain.
I’m sure others will argue, but Shiggy very rarely moves the story along. At first, he does;
He leads the villains to attack UA and introduces the main characters and the readers to the villains. After that, his actions are more like they’re filling up space as they have no real effect on the main plot.
He reaches out to Stain? Stain gets caught in his introduction arc. (Plus that was AFO’s idea.)
He releases four Nomus after Stain pokes him a bit; none of them have an effect on the overarching plot. (Even though Bat Nomu SHOULD HAVE but I digress.)
He attacks Izuku in the mall? The most you can say is that it encouraged U.A. to change sites but is that really such a change story-wise?
The attack on the camp; AFO’s orders, and he didn’t go. True, he ordered the villains there to kill Izuku, but again, nothing comes from it. And the order to kidnap Bakagou came from AFO.
Then after AFO is captured and Shiggy finally gets his chance to shine, guess what? Overhaul takes over the arc, and the other members of the league go to work. (Does Shiggy do anything there? I’ll be honest, I don’t recall.) He takes Overhual’s arms and quirks, but does use that to move the story at all? (Does he even use it? Oh well. I’ll admit that’s the one good thing he did.)
The only time Shiggy’s actions fuel the story is when he and the rest of the League fight the Meta Liberation army and convince them to join. Then after that, he goes to sleep like Sleeping Beauty till Mic’s wonderful voice wakes him up. (Is he even in the Endeavor arc?)
After that, Shiggy releases a tidal wave of death and fights for a while, but then AFO takes over as the big bad again.
(Again, I may be mistaken but please be polite in your corrections.)
My point is that Shiggy’s actions rarely move the plot along, and in a story like MHA, that’s a failure.
In Vigilantes, on the other hand? His reactionary state is perfect. Why? Because Koichi’s story isn’t an overstretching arc, it’s mostly episodic. It’s the Pro-hero's subplot that has the overreaching story (and it’s not really needed, but I’ll discuss that later).
Because BNHA:V is mostly episodic and a “simple story.” (Minus the Pro-hero subplot.) The story could focus on Shiggy’s arc more and just have him wandering around, occasionally causing trouble. After all, Koichi’s story is just him being Koichi. True he trains and fights the odd villain, but the people around him push the plot, not him.
This gives them something in common; they merely react to what happens to them. However, they’re also different in how they react.
Koichi, despite being laid back, is always active and doing what little he can to improve life for himself and others. When he reacts, he reacts to assist those around him and acts very humbly.
Shiggy, meanwhile, reacts with annoyance and entitlement for most of the story. He does as little as possible while demanding others do stuff, throwing a tantrum like a brat, and lashing out with violence at any mere inconvenience. (For the sake of fairness, in the villain arc, he steps up—but then he goes to sleep, and AFO takes over! Seriously, for most of the manga, he does less than everyone around him. But I digress.)
Having Kochi and Shiggy just wander around, living their lives would work great. Shiggy could be doing random stuff for the MLA and occasionally fighting with a hero while Koichi does what he already does, and it would fit together, even if they don’t meet much.
But more than any of that, I believe that Shiggy needs to be saved by a hero like Koichi, NOT Izuku.
The reason for this is that while Shiggy blames heroes whenever he thinks about his pain, he’s not thinking about heroes. He’s thinking about the people who ignore him. Ordinary people who decided not to do a thing.
Koichi, despite everything, is an ordinary person. In the BNHA world, he isn’t special. His quirk isn’t flashy like All Might, and he's not a chosen successor of a great legacy. Koichi is just a normal guy, inspired by All Might to do the best he could to help others. Even if it’s just in small ways, like helping someone with directions, finding lost items, distracting a villain until the authorities come, or helping a cat find a home. THAT’S the kind of hero Shigaraki needs, a normal person doing what he can.
Izuku is great, but he isn’t a normal person.
He’s not only a hero in training but the successor to the greatest hero in Japan. But he carries a special quirk that is super powerful. If Izuku saves him, it’s not an average person doing their best it’s the successor of a great hero, carrying a mantle. And that doesn’t round off Shiggy’s arc very well.
Likewise, Koichi needed to fight a villain like Shiggy so he can realize his efforts aren’t wasted, and they matter. Because if someone like him had been there, then Shiggy wouldn’t have suffered, and his actions may have saved someone else. His acts are small, but they matter, and such a thing would inspire others to do more. This is why he would be able to reach Shigaraki.
The Meta Liberation Army should also be in Vigilantes, and they should be the big bad of the story. The reason for this is that another one of the themes of BNHA:V is about quirk rights and whether or not the average person should be able to use them. Something that the MLA is all about. Koichi, despite not doing anything immoral is considered a criminal because he uses his quirk without a hero’s license. Having the MLA as the main enemy introduces a great conflict, AND shows us both sides of the dilemma; Yes, people like Koichi and Pop can use their quirks to help, but people like the Meta Liberation Army use their quirks to harm others. (Of course, to even this, I’d have more vigilantes. Have Soga’s gang and Tamao join the fight.) Having the MLA as the big bad would give the story a chance to be about people fighting for what they believe in and how it’s a person’s individual actions that make them bad or not, regardless of their cause. (Something I think the main series is TRYING to do.) And I think this message would be stronger, narratively, in BNHA:V. In the BNHA world, Vigilantes were the ones to show the world that quirks could be used to help people and introduce the hero profession. So, having a vigilante push forward the idea of Quirk rights, and quirk society, would be poetic.
And that’s it, that’s my thoughts on this subject for now! Thanks to the ones who were patient in waiting for this! I hope it was worth it. Please re-blog with your own thoughts on this. And if you’re curious about why I think Number Six and Queen Bee should be in the main series, please go here.

BnHA Ch.361 - Review, parallels & comparisons
If there’s anything that could “bolster” Tenko Shimura right now, it would be real friends who run alongside him. At least, that’s the lesson I took from this chapter. (Fun fact: there are already chapters called “Friend” (319) and “Friends” (258), so this one is “Abnormal Happenings.”)
In his short appearance, Mirio has (1) saved Bakugo; (2) stalled AFO!Shig for Amajiki’s big move; and (3) landed emotional damage on Shigaraki. I was impressed with how Mirio questioned Shig — he didn’t just call Shigaraki “evil” or a “villian.” He used his ability to get close to engage. He asked WHY Shig was doing what he was doing, and he got a semi-truthful AFO-tainted response: “because the current framework has failed.” From the hero perspective…what kind of bullshit is that?? The “current framework has failed” so destroy the entire world and create a new one under AFO’s thumb? There’s nothing good worth preserving? Nothing at all? And that’s where we see Tenko come into play, because Tenko has friends. Tenko has something worth saving. AFO does not have friends. AFO doesn’t give a shit about preserving anything or anyone except himself.
Tumblr media
Even though the “current framework” completely failed Tenko, he never wanted to destroy the entire world….
Before MVA, Shigaraki famously told Toga that his allies should be exceptions to his destruction and get what they want in life. When fighting Re-Destro, Shigaraki re-emphasized that he wants “them” to live how they see fit. He refused to equate destruction with no future, because he did want a future for his allies. His friends.
Tumblr media
Mentioning Mon in this chapter further underscores that Tenko doesn’t want to destroy everything. It was not a tragedy that Tenko killed his family, but it absolutely was a tragedy that he killed his dog. His friend. I mean, when he first yells, “I hate everyone!” Tenko is crying into Mon’s fur. If he had control over decay, or if he had a choice, Tenko never would have hurt Mon.
The cool part here is that Mirio gets it. He sees that he hurt Shigaraki’s feelings and he feels bad about it. The next thing Mirio does is give a genuine, heartfelt apology to Shigaraki. Mirio validates this piece of Shigaraki, just like how Shoto validates Toya.
Tumblr media
Of course, AFO seizes control and launches a huge attack on Mirio while he runs a self-diagnosis. AFO and Mirio both realize at the same time that Shigaraki has a perfect body, but not a perfect soul. (And Toya wants Endeavor to notice when he’s not around…) This chapter confirms Shigaraki is vulnerable ON THE INSIDE but not so much on the outside. AFO is terrified by this new discovery, so he turns away from Mirio as quickly as possible, ignoring Mirio’s cries to come back. It’s now urgent for AFO!Shig to find Izuku and take OFA, because without realizing it Mirio got through AFO and reached Tenko. Note how AFO falls back to his usual insults, calling Mirio a “pesky distraction” to push Mirio away from further engagement.
To be clear, Mirio isn’t really thinking about “saving” Shigaraki here, and I don’t think he knows about Tenko, but….he’s not in instant kill mode either. It sure does seem like Mirio was ready to pause the fighting and talk, if Shig was willing. (We know Mirio’s goal is to save a million people, and that he felt he was “shouldering nasty karma” from not saving Eri the first time he saw her.) he However, since Shig turned towards Bakugo and Jeanist, Mirio looks to Amajiki and Hado to land a hit on Shig’s “tough” body. Unlike Bakugo, Mirio has always accepted his weakness. His permeability doesn’t give him superhuman strength, and it’s his spirit/determination that gives him endurance. Mirio was able to beat the odds and fight quirkless against Overhaul because he had someone to protect from destruction.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
In the Overhaul fight, we saw how Mirio and Tamaki bolstered each other. Even fighting their own separate battles, they drew strength from training with each other. Now we see how Nejire did the same by being their friend, and how Mirio is totally cool with letting his friends take the lead in the fight. He doesn’t need to go alone right now.
Tumblr media
Finally, Jeanist’s daring taunt for AFO!Shig to come at him reminded me of the end of USJ, when All Might is bluffing his ass off to keep Shigaraki focused on him and not the children or Aizawa. All Might got lucky that Iida brought in the other teachers at the right moment, because Shigaraki absolutely had him otherwise. I hope Tamaki and Nejire can do the same here, and stop AFO!Shig from reaching Jeanist and Bakugo.

It's easy, the bk stans who actually understand the story realize that Bakugou wanting to kill Tomura only shows that he's behind characters like Midoriya, Todoroki and Uraraka who are in conflict and want to see the villains as humans who deserve a pinch of compassion, for which Bakugou not understanding this and shooting to kill shows that he isn't the character they imagine in the canon, that Bakugou doesn't really understand how heroes society actually discriminates and excludes and is based on only defeat the villain without understanding what makes them end the way they did. On the other hand, there are the Bk stan who only want Bakugou to have cool moments and powers, therefore they don't care since they are "See, Bakugou's going to kill Shigaraki not crybaby like Deku, Bakugou's the next number 1".
This is why many bk stans are blaming Midoriya or throwing him under the bus because "he didn't want to save Shigaraki before, he also shot to kill, etc" and it's true Midoriya didn't understand Tomura either, just like Bakugou, he was too threatened and held against his will while Tomura was talking to him in the mall, just like Bakugou and many others he had no reason to feel sorry for Tomura because all he had seen from him was the side that wanted to destroy the people he loves and hurt just for pleasure, again Midoriya didn't understand Shigaraki. However, that is why seeing AFO taking control of Tomura in the void and hurting him was important because even though they were in a war and Tomura had hurt his friends, Midoriya's first instinct was to run to his aid and subsequently not being able to get Tomura/Tenko out of his mind and this accompanies him throughout his solo arc. That is also why Todoroki actually understanding that Touya was like him was a starting point to want to help him, that is why Uraraka, despite fighting with Toga during the war, couldn't get Toga's words and tears out of her mind. Above all, this is why the talk between Ochako and Midoriya is so important, Midoriya said the phrase "you looked like you need saving" and this phrase covers a panel where the city is destroyed, while Ochako was looking at that same destruction for reminding herself to focus on getting the job done and stop thinking about Toga and this is where Midoriya says that even seeing the destruction caused he can't ignore the boy he saw.
It's also funny that Bakugou still doesn't really understand Midoriya, he thinks he does throughout the manga he thinks he understands how Izuku's mind works and maybe he's right about the self-destructive parts though he should acknowledge he's a trigger for those thoughts, but the point is that he doesn't understand, he doesn't understand that Midoriya is going to save whoever gets in front of him villain, hero, civilian he will always help, he remembers what happened with the Sludge villian and thinks he understands but he doesn't , salvation isn't something that must be earned but everyone deserves it at least according to Midoriya. Perhaps this is why the talk was with Uraraka, Bakugou would have wanted him to change his mind and in this case Midoriya needed to feel accompanied.
Just one thing, before someone says villains are bad and don't deserve salvation or whatever, I'm not making a moral judgment on their actions, I'm just highlighting what the plot is that the story is telling us.
All of this.

dms are awful truly., tell me about harukawa maki and why the fandom is wrong about her^_^
[Drags hands down my face]
preliminary: y'know how like. Kirigiri is. The Girl of thh? and Chiaki is for the sequel, and so overt 'THE GIRL' that her backstory was rewritten to be More Tragic in the special anime?
Haru is that for V3. Aka is bait.
It's, easier to comprehend n Digest Haru w/ that in mind. "Right. She's Kodaka's girl…" the reversible cover of V3 features Haru, prominently. That sort of thing. Genuinely shocked she doesn't have a figure yet, esp in the fashion of the bunnygirls, but Haru is quite controversial re: popularity. That might be why.
I could ramble. I've talked abt her, at length, and i'll spare you the howlings of 'SHE! ANGIE! NARRATIVE FOILS!!!' lucky you, on this special day
overall fandom re: haru has, a sort of, pendulum effect. One side or the other. 'She abuses, tortures, prolly would waterboard Ou,' or, 'sad girl who deserves the best,' y'know. The first part, I see mostly, in 310 fic. Whump. Ou bruised for h/c and Sai gives Haru n co. a PIECE OF HIS MIND!!! The latter… hahhhhhh.. Haru/Momo fic, or, 'Right! Haru's here too!' gotta include her somewhere. Give her a happy ending, a relationship w/ Momo. Done.
/head on hand, swaying
Neither of these are, true. At least if I had to pick, #2 - and I think that'd be Kodo's answer, too, lol. HAVE YOU SEEN HER LOVE ACROSS ANSWERS? SO EDGY. If this was a '00s game, Haru would be top of the charts in fan favorites. Her 8track playlist would start w/ the song, 'Pain' by TDG. Released in the wrong era, sad. A girl allowed, ENCOURAGED, to be sad… but bloody! Wow…!!! And she's pretty!
The 'why'. Well. Now, okay, lean forward, steel your heart……. why is the fandom so bad at Haru…?
Because she's a girl…………!!! I know. What? How? Girl hate?!
You're GONNA hear. 'No, i dislike her bc her motives don't make sense,' 'she fucks up the lategame plan,' 'she's too mean,' 'so bland,' degrees of these are true. I'm not saying basement Joe dislikes Haru solely due to her endowment. But fandom-wise, overall, yeah… altho vthree, particularly, has. Uhm. [twirls hair] 'Opinions' I'd disagree with, re: characters. All of them. The game is meant to be subjective, so of course there's a variety of feelings.
But girls are, mm, unwelcome? Generally. She [any girl] has to Warrant mere existing, and 10x that warrante for x-minutes of screentime. They become watered down, for ease, to be enjoyable. Fans heighten desirable characteristics, if they Mostly-like her, or her negatives if they Mostly-hate her. This sort of Upping the Ante isn't female-restricted, no, but the dials are ticked furthermore.
I can't think of any vthree girl that fandom 'gets,' really. N don't misunderstand me - the girls of the cast aren't TOO COMPLEX for these IMMATURE VIEWERS to UNDERSTAND!!! No, 'you have to have a high IQ,' bullshit. Rather, I think, people are tired and more inclined to extremes. Either tired of being 'annoyed' by girls - this is how we get Haru-basking - or tired of girl-hate, which is how we get to Haru, or Aka, [x girl here]-loving. Both of which don't cusp the truth of the girl.
And - I do this. You do this. I wave away a lot of Tenko's, Loudness n Hatred re: men, but not out of ignoring. I do acknowledge, even like it, due to my view of her backstory from the gleams we see. But I don't talk abt it, or depict it often, bc it's 'minor' when compared to the features I want to emphasize. 'Best girl, because of her purity!' It's inoffensive…….
UNTIL WE GET TO FAN META!!!!!!!!!!!!! Like, 'meta made by fans of vthree,' not meta made by fans of Haru. Clarifying.
[stepford smiler] Ignore all haru fan meta. All of it. I'm right about her, nobody else. Especially Haru + Ou meta. Everyone is wrong. OK? You promise? Don't look at anybody else's take… okay…? Let's do a blood pact, I'll start. [reaches for a prop knife]

I know it's primarily Midoriya's goal to save Shigaraki, but with the current chapter watching the whole group putting in effort to save Bakugo do you think something similar could play out for Shigaraki? With the whole group each playing part to help save Shigaraki or to help Deku save Shigaraki?
There are a lot of people assigned to the Save Shigaraki Task Force.
I’ve always guessed that multiple people would help in different ways, yes. That hasn’t changed and that wasn’t ever not the case.
But it’s precisely that—everyone helps where they can.
The League? At this point, while it’s possible they will participate in a surface level way like, physically fending off AFO maybe—it’s kinda hard to see how they’ll contribute much right now, if I’m being honest.
Touya—do I even need to explain? Has he once thought or reflected on what he saw was happening to Shigaraki? Not that I can remember. He’s too lost in his own pain, and man, his priorities are definitely elsewhere.
Toga? Same thing. She is in no state currently to ignore her own wants and needs to go help Shigaraki. Even if she cares and is concerned. However, aside from her looking freaked out in chapter 335 in the background, she hasn’t been shown to reflect or think on the ShigAFO situation much. So aside from using Twice to help save on a large scale, idk how directly involved she will be.
Compress—not sure. He’s a wild card, but we know he’ll show up again. Him coming into the situation with fresh eyes may help him see things clearly for what they are, how bad they are.
Spinner—he will try to help somehow. But tbh idk how much help he’ll actually be. He’s still holding onto that severed hand. He ignored his instincts in favor of the dream he’s attached to Shigaraki in his mind. He’s idealized AFO’s little creation and doesn’t actually know anything about Shigaraki below the surface. None of the league does.
Kurogiri—-here is where the contribution to helping I think will go deeper. I think Kurogiri will help from the hero perspective through Aizawa. Help Aizawa have that necessary change of heart which will help the hero side of things see differently in the end, and accept help from the League when it (in my opinion) inevitably is offered.
Bakugo—I still don’t know yet. But 2nd user yadda yadda. He’s made an impression on Shigaraki in a way, and I think that’ll be important.
With Midoriya—there is an emotional, personal component that he is responsible for. He’s the only one with the vestige access, to see the symbolic representation of what’s going on (Shigaraki being consumed by AFO & little Tenko, both very telling). He’s the only one who has come to understand how Nana is the reason for Shigaraki, even if he doesn’t know the details. By having that personal insight into Shigaraki’s mind, he’s the one who will have the perspective to help Shigaraki combat the way he thinks about himself (destruction incarnate who murdered his family—which we all know is not true). Much like Bakugo, he made a huge impression on Shigaraki, enough of an impression that he’s the hero who comes to mind when Shigaraki wants help. Shigaraki just this chapter expressed his resentment for not being reached out to back then, AGAIN. And, yes anybody reaching out would have been enough back then, but currently the resentment is toward heroes. Who have proven that they will give it their all to save everyone, except Shigaraki. Midoriya, being the person who runs to help when nobody else will (a la Bakugo in chapter 1) is the one who will once again, run to help when nobody else ever did for Shigaraki. That’s the role Midoriya played in the very first chapter, and he’s set up to play it again for the person who needs him most.
A lot of people have potential to play roles, but for some it’s questionable as to whether they will at all, or how big of a role it’ll be.
The only people I’m fairly certain of are Midoriya, Bakugo, Aizawa, Kurogiri, and Spinner. Everyone else I think it’s too soon to tell for now, and it’ll be easier to guess what they’ll do as time goes on.

-Saiou Oneshot- Despair Disease
!TW! Mentions Death Lots of Swearing Mentions Some Not Kid Friendly Stuffs
KOKICHI POV
"Ding dong bing bong whatever HURRY UP AND GET TO THE GYM OR ELSE I HAVE A NEW MOTIVE!"
I sighed and lifted the covers off myself, reluctantly changing out of my sleepwear and putting on my tight, uncomfortable uniform and adjusting my iconic scarf. As I exited my dorm, I watched Chabashira and Yumeno walking down the hall, hands tied together, and fingers tangled in each other's. As quiet as a mouse, I creeped behind the couple, eventually getting bored of hearing Chabashira fangirl over the mage, taking a huge leap. I landed on Yumeno and we both fell onto the floor. I didn't mean to knock her over, oopsie daisies! ~
"Stupid degenerate! Are you okay my beautiful Himiko? Do you need me to give you some water?"
The magician just lazily stood back up and turned to me, ignoring Tenko. I knew for sure I was going to experience some of Chabashira's neo aikido...
"Of course, it's you, Ouma! You better stop causing trouble, or I'll haunt you with my magic!"
Letting out a laugh, I leaned in close to the smaller girl's face, watching her blush at how close we were. I placed one of my creepy smiles onto my face, bringing a curious finger to my lips.
"No need to be so rude, Himi-Chan! Isn't haunting what witches do? I can't believe it," My hand raised to my forehead, and I formed a dramatic expression of fake betrayal. "you lied to us! Another ultimate lying about their talent! How could you?!"
Crocodile tears suddenly started flowing, and Chabashira just tightly grabbed the magician's hand.
"Quick Himiko! Ignore that stupid degenerate male, and let's get to the gym before that build-a-bear executes us!"
The pair ran off together, or in more accurate words, Tenko dragged a sluggish Himiko with her, swinging the gym doors open as I followed behind, so bored that I might go insane.
"Everyone's here, right? So, we can get on with it! I can't wait to see this exciting new motive! ~"
"Shut it, pissbaby! Did you even notice that your 'boyfriend' is fucking missing?! Stupid lying abortion!"
I rolled my eyes, picking at my nails and showing no interest.
"Shut it, nasty pig! You should be bowing in front of me right now, begging for forgiveness from your supreme leader! Too bad you're such a whore... You wouldn't be allowed within 900 steps of the supreme leader's lair!"
"Oh shut your fucking mouth, you're such a lying little shit! Go fucking play with yourself!"
Ignoring her, I searched around the room for my beloved. He was... Nowhere. I didn't see any emo with black clothes and a stupid black cap, with those beautiful olive eyes and attractive long eyelashes. His perfect smile and those freckles you could see if you looked hard enough...
"Hey, Ouma! What's with the blush? You thinking about sucking some dick when we go back, aren't ya?! You're so fucking gay!"
"I'm actually bisexual, but I guess a dirty bitchlet like you wouldn't know that. Also, you can't shame me for being gay when you're literally a hardcore lesbian for Akamatsu-Chan!"
The pair of girls blushed, Kaede deciding to defend her crush.
"Ouma-Kun, how about we calm down! It doesn't matter about how lesbian is, or how gay you are! We should be worried, Saihara-Kun is- "
Kaede's speech was rudely cut off by a certain detective stumbling through the door, his face pale and he was sweating a lot. A lot of whispers, including mine were heard around the room, discussing how ill the detective looked.
"Haha, look at this guy! He was probably jerking it in the bathrooms thinking about this gorgeous girl genius and her golden brain, weren't you Pooichi!"
"Can't you just shut your slutty mouth for one fucking second? I'll never think dirty things about someone as pathetic as you, bitch."
Everyone stared in shocked silence. Since when was Saihara-Chan such a badass?! If I knew this, I would've fucked him way sooner...
"Sidekick? Are you alright? That fucking liar didn't brainwash you or something, did he? I'll beat some sense into him if he did!"
"Oh, shut up Momota. You're so loud! I didn't do shit!"
"He's right, stop accusing my beloved Koki of such ridiculous things! And honestly, how can you even call me your sidekick? I solve all these murders and carry you all, and you just sit there counting fucking stars while me and Kimchi do all the work! If anything, you should be my sidekick!"
There was silence once again. Nobody knew what to say in this situation, the normally shy detective was going full badass mode and roasting everyone after all! However, all that stuck in my mind were the words 'beloved Koki' and 'Kimchi'. He likes me back after all! I can't believe it!
"Aww, Shumai is soooo cute! Calling me his beloved in front of everyone and giving me such adorable nicknames! It should be a crime to be that cute!"
"That's such a shame... I guess you'll be going to jail then!"
My whole body froze. Was Shumai flirting with me? Best day ever! I was about to fall into a gay panic!
"Can you two virgins shut the fuck up!? I've been sitting here for 10 minutes watching this lovey dovey romance! This isn't a dating show, it's a KILLING GAME!"
"Sorry Monokuma, please proceed with the motive you were going to present."
Kirumi was always so formal when she spoke. I think on the inside she was just done with all our bullshit. Being the ultimate maid must be so boring and hard...
"Yes Monokuma, please explain. Is it to do with my twin acting so odd?"
Tsumugi huh? She never spoke up to Monokuma much. I knew Saihara-Chan was her brother, but not her twin!
"Ok little fuckers, listen up! I'm only going to say this once! Me and my adorable little children decided to reintroduce a fan favourite motive... And applied it to the fan favourite! You're little detective has been infected with..."
Awkward silence washed over the gym, none of us speaking a word and waiting for Monokuma to say something about the motive.
"Dammit children! You were supposed to do a drum roll! You're lucky you guys are so cute, otherwise I would've ripped you all to shreds!"
"SORRY-FATHER. WE-WILL-DO-BETTER-NEXT-TIME."
"Oh shut it Monodam! You're fucking useless! Just do the fucking drum roll already!"
The continuous tapping of metal against the stage filled the room, the drum roll intriguing everyone as Monokuma smirked.
"The reintroduction of the DESPAIR DISEASE MOTIVE!"
My mouth opened, however no sounds escaped. What was I supposed to say..? Looking around, I could see everyone was the same, except for a certain victim.
"Monokuma, you're really interesting and all, but can I go back to bed already? My head hurts like a bitch and I honestly don't give two shits about whatever you're saying."
"Damn, I really should've given you a different disease. That's no way to talk to your precious headmaster."
Shuichi rolled his eyes in annoyance, everyone watching the scene. Nobody had adjusted to the detective's new personality yet, the normally shy boy acting so aggressively. To be honest, nobody even knew how to respond to whatever Shuichi spits out now.
"Do I look like I care? I don't care if I was given some shitty personality heightening disease, just let me go back to bed already!"
"Personality... heightening...? What is that supposed to mean...?"
Everyone was intrigued and listened closely. We had to take care of our beloved Shuichi after all! I unconsciously started tapping my foot against the ground, earning a whisper-yelled 'Stop doing that, it's too loud. God you're so annoying...' from Maki.
"Well, my beloved students with no brains, it means that whatever emotion Shuichi feels at the current moment gets increased. So, if he gets even the tiniest bit sad, he will fall into a depressive state! If he is a little happy, he will get excited to the point of running around in circles for a whole ten minutes!"
Putting a thoughtful finger to my chin, I observed Shuichi's current behaviour, piecing an answer together with Monokuma's rather helpful information. However, a certain tennis pro beat me to it.
"So that means he is angry at the moment? I wonder why that would be..."
I was wondering the same thing. What I didn't notice was that my foot started making those up and down motions again, and Maki slapped me on the back of the head. Angie just walked up behind the 'child caregiver' and muttered something about Atua watching her while she slept. Creepy... I have to live with these people for the rest of my life!
"Maybe it is because he was dragged out of bed? He seemed annoyed with that earlier, so that is probable. Kehehehe... Anger is such a beautiful emotion..."
"Shut it, kinky freak! Stop being weird!"
"Gonta thinks Miu should stop being mean! Miu need to speak less vulgar, too!"
Gonta placed his hand on Miu's shoulder to continue talking to her about how to be a gentleman.
"Guys, one of our classmates is in a dangerous condition! Let's focus on him, okay? So Shuichi, Iruma-San installed a function on me which lets me read people better. According to my calculations, you're fuming with anger and about to lash out at everyone, do you need my assistance to calm down...?"
Shuichi didn't respond, his only response being a huff and folding his arms over each other in annoyance. The sick teen just desired to go back to the comfort of his bed...
"Oh and once more thing you little shits! It's contagious, so good luck taking care of him! Everyone get's a different disease!"
With that, the build-a-bear looking psychopath left the stage, his 'children' following him close like a little of lost and clingy puppies.
"Nishishi! Silly Kiibo, of course you wouldn't of known diseases were contagious! I'm surprised a lawn mower even knew what a disease was!"
"Ouma-Kun, that is robophobic! I promise you, I know an amazing amount about human's and their behaviours! I will see you in court!"
"Can you fucking cut it out already! My head is hurting so bad, you need to stop yelling or I'll fucking kill all of you on the spot!"
Saihara suddenly pulled out one of the kitchen knives, glaring at all of us. I could tell even Miss Murder Girl was even a bit intimidated. Amami, somehow calm in this situation, slowly approached Saihara and gently grabbed his wrist, and carefully pulled the knife from its position between the detective's fingers. Everyone cautiously approached the detective before flooding him in a wave of questions, getting up in his face and confronting him about the illness. The only ones choosing to stay out of the way were Tenko, Ryoma, Amami, Maki and Kiibo. Me too of course!
"Everyone, must you crowd him? He has mentioned that all the talking hurts his head, and must you forget that this illness is contagious?"
Hearing Kirumi's words, everyone took a good 20 steps back, already panicking about catching the disease. Idiots. However, one arrogant astronaut stayed.
"Hey degenerate, get away from the walking sickness! I don't care about your health since you're a male, but if you infect any of the girls there will be a class trial! Come on Himiko, let's go!"
And just like that, the two lesbians hurried off through the door, Tenko ranted random nonsense about males to the mage who just nodded in response, not even listening, and almost falling asleep as she sprinted to keep up with the other strong woman.
"I'm not leaving," Kaito's voice boomed proudly. "I'm staying by my sidekick's side every step off the way! We'll fight this off together, right sidekick?"
"Once again, I'm not your sidekick, just let me go to the dorms already..."
"I'll take you there sideki- I mean Shuichi!"
Kirumi cleared her throat, addressing the problem. Half of the other ultimate students had left out of boredom, and the gym was rather empty now.
"Momota-San, I do understand your passion to take care of others, however, I am concerned. Saihara-San could easily infect you. Not to force anyone or point fingers, but I think Kiibo should do it. I do not mean to be robophobic to you Kiibo-San, but am I correct to assume that since you're a robot you cannot get infected with sicknesses?"
Kiibo nodded formally, understanding what she was going to say next and giving her a thumbs up.
"Do not worry Tojo-San, I will work as hard as I can to restore Shuichi back to full health and make sure everyone remains safe!"
With that said, everyone dispersed, going separate ways to do whatever they planned to do. Kiibo took my beloved back to the dorm, and I never heard from anyone again after that.
-POV CHANGE -> SHUICHI POV-
"Kiibo, can you carry me any faster?! I'm sweating my ass off and my whole body is aching!"
The robot's steps faltered as he struggled to carry my body, which was surprisingly heavy. Carrying a heavy, sick teen who keeps squirming in your grip up a flight of stairs was an insanely hard task. Part of me sensed guilt for making Kiibo go through all this struggling, however the main part of my brain didn't care. I just continued spitting out annoyed complaints about Kiibo's strength and how slow he was.
"Hey, useless vacuum, are we there yet?! I'm sleepy..."
I could hear Kiibo's artificial breath of relief as we came to an abrupt halt. What was happening...? My mind eventually fogged with too much weariness, and it became impossible to make out anything in this mindset. So, my brain decided to spare Kiibo a lot of trouble and shut down. And with that, I was washed into a deep sleep, no sickness here to bother me. Just, peace, calmness, and silence.
I spotted a purple haired boy in the middle of a flower field. His hair flowed with the wind and his eyes glistened in the sunlight. Taking a seat next to the petite male, his hand caressed mine. We talked about whatever came to mind, eventually getting closer and closer until we were only an inch apart.
"I've always wanted to feel those lips, Saihara-Chan..."
I blushed as I sensed his soft, smooth pink lips connect with mine. My senses were filled with the complicated emotion of love, feeling the smaller boy climb into my lap too deepen the kissing sensation. I wanted more. I wanted him. No, I needed him. My fingers shakily reached towards an orange button on his shirt, caressing the button before beginning to undo it. That's when I heard it. A noise that resembled the sound of bones crushing and blood spewing everywhere. I pulled away in shock, my eyes widening when I was met with the horrifying sight before me. The little leader had neon liquid trickling down his face from his forehead, and he was crying.
"Saihara-Chan, I don't want to leave!"
I opened my mouth, but nothing except a choked noise came out. He was gripping on my sleeves for dear life when I spotted his body slowly becoming transparent. I loved him. Why was this happening...? All I could do was sit there, drowning in a hole of despair as I painfully watched my crush wilting away like a decomposing flower, my eyes glued to the disturbing scene until there was nothing left to see. Wiping an ocean of tears away from my eyes, I observed my surroundings. I was seated in a field of flowers, like I was before. However, the flowers were all hunched over, devoid of any colour and awaiting their death.
Sweat stained my forehead as I sat helplessly in bed, gasping for air. My lungs felt as if they were closing in on themselves, and my head was spinning with the scenes of Kokichi begging for my help as he gradually faded. I hopped out of bed, gritting my teeth at the pain in my legs and the feeling of my knees collapsing as I collided with the floor, a loud bang erupting and echoing through my dorm room. I glanced at the robot, who was in sleep mode. Creeping towards him on my stomach, I snatched the dorm keys from him and resumed crawling to the door, eventually slotting the key through the hole and the door opening. I crawled outside, down the stairs, and all the way to Oma's dorm. I knew what I had to do.
I pound at his door, gathering strength to finally stand as I attempt to punch the door down, blood staining my knuckles as I tried persistently. I need to see him. My assault to the door cut off when it opened.
"Who the fuck is distu- SHUMAI??? WHAT DID YOU DO TO MY DOOR? IS YOUR HAND ALRIGHT?"
I knocked the breath out of him when I tumbled into his small frame, pinning him down onto the cold floor and delivering harsh kisses to his lips.
"Woah, woah! Shumai! Calm down, are you feeling horny or something? Sorry but it's 2am and I'm too tired to fuck!"
"Kimchi I-"
Cut off by my body going back to kissing the little liar, he tried to push me off, and my lips eventually left his as I struggled to breathe.
"Shumai, you have a fever! Go back to bed with the refrigerator!"
"K-K-Kokichi- I can't! I have to stay with you! The only way to make you stay by my side is to spread the disease to you! That way you will never leave! Please, please! I want you to do it with me!"
His expression got fearful, before he let out a sigh and grabbed my hands.
"Let's go back to the keyboard in your dorm, okay? He can take care of you."
"Kokichi no! Please! I need you! I can't live without you, please I-"
"Shuichi fucking Saihara, look at me. You are sick with a dangerous fever. I don't want to increase my chances of getting sick too, and it's fucking 2am. Not to mention, you aren't in your right mind to consent. My poor Shumai probably felt the tiniest bit sexual and couldn't control it, hm? Now come on, let me guide you to Kiiboy."
I gave up on trying to fight just letting Kokichi direct me back to Kiibo before he powered on the robot. I could see his eyes blink before exiting sleep mode, confused at the situation.
"Sorry not sorry, but I am here to interrupt your beauty sleep Toaster. Shumai here came to me begging for sexual gratification. I'm going to quarantine back in my dorm in case I have the disease, just tie him up or something, since he'll probably come crawling back to me again."
"Oh, I am sorry Kokichi. It probably wasn't wise to sleep with an out of control, sick person in the dorm."
Kokichi muttered a small, rather rare, reassurance to the robot before stepping away to return back to his dorm.
"Kokichi please wait! You have to stay! Please! I don't want you to leave again! Why don't you want to stay here with me! Is it because I didn't save you? I'm sorry!"
The two looked at me like I was mental. I probably was.
"Whatcha mean by that? Didn't save me? Leave again? Did you have a bad dream Shumai?"
I nodded when Kiibo thought of an idea. I didn't want Kokichi to leave, and Kokichi didn't want to stay in case he wasn't *actually* sick yet. If he stayed, he would've definitely caught the disease.
"What if I ask Monokuma for a spare bed and split the room with a small glass divider? That way Oma can stay in case he did catch the illness, and Saihara can stay near Oma. Would that work?"
I nodded furiously. I didn't want to let Oma go. I was definitely feeling very desperate and over-protective, more than I would usually feel, but I guess it's the disease's fault, not mine. Kimchi eventually nodded in agreement, and with that sorted, we got the help of Monokuma to help us set up the room we wished to have.
"Shumai, no offense, but you're a real pain in the ass sometimes!"
I sensed a tiny bit of sadness, thinking nothing of it until...
"I'm sorry Oma-Kun! It won't happen again!"
I began uncontrollably crying a never-ending river of tears, wiping the snot that was pooling above my lips with the collar of my shirt.
"Saihara! Don't dirty your shirt, here! This is going to be a lot to take care of..."
I wiped my nose with the tissue Kiibo offered me, and the three of us settled for bed, the robot actually keeping watch over us this time.
This took 2 hours of my day to write! Long one for yall as an apology for being dead <3 Word Count: 3410 Stay safe out there everyone! I personally enjoy being sick, but if any of you reading this aren't feeling your best, then I hope you have a speedy recovery! <3333

Deadass idk what the appeal of Shigaraki is either.
Personality is whack, his design looks ridiculous, and his part in the story is just boring.
Well there is good stuff in Shigas story. As Tenko he could be an interesting character.
AFOs plans have been thwarted by Nana and All Might so in an act of petty revenge he targets Nanas family despite her efforts to distance herself from them, probably causing the discourse in their family that leads to Tenko to losing control and killing his entire family... once this traumatized child is wounded enough he swoops in and acts like he cares about Tenko while building him into the perfect weapon to combat his enemies- specifically All Might... Hes convincing Tenko that All Might and his people are the REAL bad guys and keeping him focused on that... effectively grooming for his true purpose which is to be a new body to replace AFOs which was damaged in his fight with All Might.
PRETTY COOL. Very tragic. Add on the possibility that AFO is actually Dekus missing father (see the doctor, the Star Wars references, etc) then Tenkos story is sort of the dark timeline version of Dekus story. AFO and OFA are now both held by the relatives of previous holders.
The issue really is all these things happen in kinda little bursts in the story and then completely put on the back burner while other pointless shit happens. Which is kind of Horikoshis style. Its the same thing that happened with the corrupt heroes thing, the Quick discrimination thing, various character/relationship build ups...
And putting things on the back burner doesnt really work in a story like this because all those stories are still very close to the main character and theyre just ignored.
Deku is working in and around heroes, he is obsessed with heroes even so how come we never see any of these corrupt heroes?
There are well known and celebrated characters who are close to Deku with visible mutations or scary/villainous looking Quirks so why have we never seen any discrimination until we need to feel bad for the villains?
If Bakugos goal to to be a hero like All Might why does he never question his more villainous behavior. His behavior is so bad the LoV even think he'll be perfect for their crew and he has nothing to say about.
Why are essential characters to the plot like Deku and All Might being sidelined this hard?
If the marketing of the series is trying to sell Deku Bakugo and Shoto as a unit why do they never really DO anything. Why isnt Shoto involved more in the story and why does he have nothing to say about Bakugo treating Deku like Endeavor treated him? Deku helped Shoto escape the hold his father had on him... so youd think he might but he says nothing.
Whats the actual point of Hawks as a character at all?
All pressing issues here in BNHA land.
So in short Tenko has a lot of interesting puzzle pieces but theyre all scattered and damaged by mishandling and likely wont come together to make the great picture they could have in the end.
But TL;DR... to answer you question of Shigas appeal...
Hes a thin, pale guy with pretty boy hair and sad backstory. Of course hes popular Nonny get it together!

Thumbelina
Thumbelina by LunaTora
Its been 10 years since Izuku was told he was quirkless. Since then his life has been hell.
His father divorced his mom. His mom got longer shifts at the hospital. Auntie Mitsuki and Uncle Masaru treated him like glass. His teachers ignored him. His classmates bullied him. Kaachan...well, he left him.
It all seemed so horrible. But today, this Christmas Eve of his 14th year of life, he became a dad. Izuku found a small shoe box in the snow. It looked innocent enough. It was not. Inside the box was a small little girl, no bigger than an infants thumb. Cold and shaking she was wrapped up in a thin silk blanket. Izuku did the only thing he could do. He took her home.
From that day forward he had to work twice as hard. For his daughter. His little Thumbelina.
Now if only, life didn't have to throw curve balls at him. First, the sludge villain. Then saving Kaachan. Then accepting to be All Might's Successor. Now he has to explain to All Might why he as a tini tiny baby in a neck wrap. And how is he going to explain that to UA. Just great.

Is it bad that I don’t feel that bad for Shigaraki right now because the way Hori wrote him he just comes across as stupid?
I would understand him being resentful of the Heroes not saving him as a child if that was actually the case--but it’s not. He never ran into a Hero during his entire time wandering around (weird given it’s been established that Heroes are everywhere, especially in big cities). Tenko wasn’t ignored by Heroes, or left to fend for himself because he had a ‘Bad Quirk’.
They just legitimately didn’t see him and it’s not shown that the reason was due to incompetency or Heroes focusing on fighting villains more then helping kids. Civilians were the only people who saw him, and the reason given as to why they didn’t help was because there are to many Heroes--which makes it even stranger that Tenko wandered around a city, coming all the way from his wealthy neighborhood without any Hero seeing him. It’s all rather suspicious even with that little of information.
But we saw Tenko’s memories when he remembered them back during the LoV arc. He remembered AfO gaslighting him until he threw up, forcing him to wear his dead family members even after he protested, and goading him in to killing. On top of that he even recalls Ujiko saying they could alter his memories. AfO turns it down, but could that not also be an implanted/altered memory?
Plus, Tenko/Shigaraki now knows that it was all a ploy to take over his body. He knows Nana had OfA and therefore AfO probably killed her. Heck, where did he think those extra hands came from? How convent it is that AfO just so happened to stubble across his old enemy’s grandson, who just so happened not to be seen by any of the countless Heroes patrolling the city, or Tenko’s rich neighborhood. How convent for the self proclaimed Demon King, who prides himself on his planning that this just so happened to happen.
This wouldn’t bother me so much if it had been written better. Maybe not having Shigaraki remember how abusive AfO was and how had the option to alter memories would have helped. Perhaps having Shigaraki continue to miss and be more aimless without AfO to show how his grooming is so complete that he can’t think think about the situation rationally. If Hori wants to make the case that this was a coincidence, or that AfO was just taking advantage of a corrupt/broken system, maybe it would have been better to show Tenko actually being ignored by a Hero--maybe even multiple.
Either way Shigaraki getting upset because the Heroes are trying to save Bakugou comes across as both stupid and selfish. It kind of reminds me those people who complain when student loans are forgiven because they paid theirs off. Like I get that it can be upsetting that you didn't get the help you needed, but it’s a little much to hate seeing someone else getting that help, especially when the guy who you know manipulated you your whole life and is currently piloting your body like a fancy meat suit is the reason they need that help. Shockley maybe it’s not that the Heroes failed you, but that the most evil villain in the world decided you looked like a great puppet, and might have had a hand in manipulating things so the Heroes never could help you.

2019 vs. 2024 hot takes exactly 0 people asked for (now with opinions on the dr3 characters!)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
and because im mentally ill im elaborating below the cut because at least i’m cognizant of how few people share this illness with me ❤️
first of all. some categories were edited (+added). we shall address them all in due time 🫶 but just for posterity before we begin: top of the category is the one that best exemplifies the category title and it moves in descending order; so as gonta is my #1 my GOAT, pedo udg guy is the one i want to kill himself most. understandable? ok 🫶
2019 top 5-tier is slightly unfortunately named but other than that changes in 2024 are somewhat minimal. as is perhaps obvious if you have seen even one (1) danganronpa post from me: gonta is My character hes mine spike chunsoft dont get him like i do. AND i love sdr2. nagito is my very very close second i am so incredibly mentally ill about him Oh if you all could see the hundreds of thousands of words ive written about that fucking guy. also true of hajime. still true of sonia (<3 i love u girlie) and fuyuhiko but to a lesser extent (i have written so much sdr2. its a problem. we persist). they are characters we see a lot of and in that same vein give SO much to build upon in further character exploration. and boy do i do that. holds the five of them In my arms i love you babygirls
S tier excellents again prove i am an sdr2 enjoyer. i think it also showcases how much i REALLY love the v3 characters while absolutely hating the plot they were stuck in. kaede and shuuichi are SOOOO special 2 me u dont understand…….im going to have so many thoughts and be So mad when i replay v3. kokichi is VERY interesting and my thoughts on him are endless (hi evan) and there is soooo much there even if i also have to fundamentally hate him somewhat because of 3-4. also a wide array of sdr2 characters are here of course……on my most recent replay i have come to really appreciate imposter (better sexier byakuya ❤️) and ibuki . and i was kind of surprised how high some of the dr1 characters are (besides chihiro who has consistently been my dr1 #1) but sorry dr3 made me love the makoto/kyouko/aoi trio sooooo bad.
lots of variety in the A tier which are all characters i enjoy, they just arent my Favorite barbie dolls to mash around u know. so many very unique personalities like mahiru, angie, tenko, and ryoma that weren’t explored as well as possible in canon, so its harder for me to personally invest in them. junko is iconic and she gets worse as the games go on but god. dr1 was craaaaaazy so she and mukuro have to be given props for that. im ignoring e-girl junko and v3 entirely <3 also again in watching dr3 while replaying sdr2 i really came to appreciate natsumi and her dynamic with hajime :[ rip girl i miss u. also also i liked koichi way more than expected LOL it must just be cuz hes hot but his death was sick as fuck and i liked his thruline with jin (the weird flirting with kyouko aside……)
B tier! bit of a mixed bag, from characters i like very begrudgingly (byakuya, sorry, i latched onto him as my rich terrible boyfriend when first playing years ago and the fondness kinda stuck 💔) to ones i do genuinely like, but they were not given much to do in canon (ryota) or their arcs fell flat (kirumi). also here are dr3 + udg characters i didnt mind or were just somewhat nice to makoto (also chisa, who is very interesting but i very much disliked how her character ended off) so shout out them (they are all dead) (or orphaned like monaca and kotoko).
C tier is basically my ‘i barely remember’ tier sry……i did not finish udg so i have so very few opinions on most of the characters. chihiro aoi and yasuhiro’s parents are chill tho shout out. not much to say tho
and now we enter the hater zone with D tier……look. some of these are hot takes and some arent. as much as i love sdr2 i just cannot ever make myself like hiyoko and teruteru. theyre kinda fucked from the getgo theyre never treated as especially serious characters but their glaring flaws are so bad i cant bring myself to care when the rest of the cast is SO GOOD. i also do not like kazuichi LMFAO as a sonia ride or die just as i cannot look past teruteru’s sexual harassment NEITHER CAN I LOOK PAST KAZUICHI’S ‼️‼️ yes i think he can be fixed but sonia needs a restraining order + when she was hoping he was the ch4 killer i was cheering. everyone else this category are just mid ass dr1 characters and the dr3 characters i found actively annoying. also monokuma. hes cringe but iconic and doesnt fit anywhere else
not much to be said about F tier. i did not finish udg but i know enough that i need haiji towa to die. i need the asshole who beat up hajime to die. i need the asshole who tried to kill makoto to die. i need that stupid old fuck heading the future foundation to die. the monokubs are fucking annoying. the only like Real characters here are 1) miu because she is written terribly and her cool talent is wasted, treats gonta like shit, isnt funny, is just nasty perv bait and her most meaningful contribution is to be fodder for the 2nd worse written case in the game. and as for NUMBER ONE WORST: tsumugi mostly just symbolizes my hatred for v3’s ending because outside of her role in 3-6 she has very little impact on the story before her reveal. also got my girlies kaede and rantarou killed God i hate the end of thisgame
and finally: oh my poor sweet bastards. why would they do this to you. these characters are either underutilized in a way that is DEVASTATING (izuru 💔) treated like shit as joke characters their potential is totally squandered by dogshit writing (everyone else — sdr2 you could have been so much better WHY!!!!!!). mikan and korekiyo’s motives are dogshit and make the ch3 double murder so much weaker. nekomaru and akane are played as jokes essentially their entire screentime and akane is especially egregious because shes a survivor among characters like FUYUHIKO!!! like SONIA!!! like HAJIME!!!!!!!!! AND YOU SQUANDER HER LIKE THIS!!!!!!!!!!! kaito suffers from really flip-floppy writing and he sucks a lot of the time Especially pre-localization but ive adopted him a little bit in writing him and i love my construction of him in my brain.
ok thats it. im so mentally ill. give me ur thoughts or do the tierlist urself. now pointy objects lockdown time 👍
