Favorite Vegeta fighting scene?
I think about the Broly vs Vegeta fight the normal amount, especially how they really show the gracefulness in Vegeta’s fighting and how much in control he is.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
He's also extremely limber and regularly uses gymnastics as part of his fighting style.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
While I love the Saiyan-Namek and Androids-Cell sagas, it's clear that the animation has evolved a lot in Super and there's more focus on their techniques. Of course there are exceptions.
Tumblr media
I'd love to hear which Vegeta fights other people like?

You ever think about how King Vegeta may have been trying to keep Frieza from destroying the planet by exiling Broly (going by Dragon Ball Super: Broly’s retelling)?
For all he knew the Legendary Super Saiyan was just a “freak of nature”; they didn’t have much evidence aside from the weird readings they got when Broly was a baby
As much as I hate King Vegeta (and he doesn’t really give much of a reason not to), he has, unfortunately, shown that he has some sense of self-preservation (whether it’s borne of cowardice or not, it’s a bit hard to say, though it’s usually portrayed as such.)
Evidence (to my knowledge):
1. (DBS: Broly) King Vegeta considered Prince Vegeta IV his pride and joy, cared for him immensely, and wanted to raise him to become strong enough to revolt against Frieza (Note that he never specified that he wanted Prince Vegeta to become the Legendary Super Saiyan.)
2. (DBS: i forget which episode/movie specifically don’t kill me lol) King Vegeta regularly met with Beerus. He had a connection to a GOD OF DESTRUCTION. AND he did his best to try and comply with whatever ridiculous demand Beerus made, like finding the softest pillow in the universe (despite Champa cheating.) I think it’s even been hinted that King Vegeta has made REPEATED ATTEMPTS on Beerus’s life/Beerus joking that he would try to intentionally poison his food. So it’s clear Beerus knows King Vegeta holds some serious contempt towards him.
Long story short, King Vegeta’s a complex character with a ton of flaws but it’s interesting to really dissect his story and motives etc.
Feel free to add to this with your own thoughts/evidence/observations/theories etc. lol I wanna hear what y’all have to say :D

What’s your overall opinion on Jiren as a character and an antagonist?
Tumblr media
I think a lot of Jiren critics miss the point with the guy. In particular, Team Four Star keeps trying to reduce Jiren to some cutting soundbyte. He's boring, he's like U11's Superman, he's an inversion of Goku, etc. You're never going to appreciate a character unless you're willing to meet the concept halfway.
In brief, he's the Man to Beat in the Tournament of Power. Unlike the other 69 opponents in the event, who resent Goku for getting them into this mess, Jiren finds Goku to be a nuisance, unworthy of his time or effort. Jiren can sweep the entire field by himself, and he knows it, but he's so bitter and depressed that he takes no satisfaction from any of it. This is just another job for him, one more chore in a long list of tasks that only he can do.
Jiren's sick of it. He suffered all this tragedy in his past, and now he's achieved seemingly ultimate strength, and it feels pointless to him. He wants to protect his universe and uphold justice. I think he's got that much in common with the Pride Troopers at least. But there's no joy in it for him. His victories are meaningless and hollow to him. Defeat is virtually impossible. Fighting the Tournament of Power is no better or worse for him than sitting alone in his room, staring at the wall.
I think that's what frustrates a lot of fans, because they want Jiren to be this exciting and charismatic figure, a cartoonish supervillain like Vegeta, or Frieza, or Cell, or a bizarre monster like Broly, or Buu, or Janemba. But Jiren flips the script by not giving a shit about Goku. He's not mad at Goku for causing the Tournament of Power to happen, he's not excited to fight Goku, he's not charmed by Goku's enthusiasm. He just wants to dominate the Tournament and leave. Not that Jiren has anything better to do with his time. He just wants to get it over with.
I think that's what makes the Vegeta vs. Jiren segments of the tournament so fun to watch. Look, I'm a big fan of Vegeta, but nobody thought he was going to be the one to take Jiren down. Vegeta's job was to try anyway, and get beat down to show just how tough things would be for Goku. And yet, we kept seeing Vegeta diving headlong into the fray anyway. He'd fight Jiren solo, he'd double-team him with Goku, he'd watch Goku fight Jiren and look for openings. Vegeta kept coming back for more, taking any action he could get, often with a big smile on his face.
Tumblr media
Why is it so satisfying when Vegeta manages to get those small little victories against Jiren? He never came close to winning, but he still managed to find openings in his defenses, and he kept coming back for more, and in the end, he gained Jiren's respect. Why does this matter? Because Vegeta's loaded with passion, passion that Jiren lacks. He does take satisfaction from winning, and he does care deeply about the stakes, and even if this battle were just for funsies, he'd still give it his all because he enjoys combat for its own sake. That's what makes him so tenacious, even when he doesn't stand a chance.
And that's what stymies Jiren, because on several occasions he wonders why his opponents refuse to just roll over and accept defeat. That's what he'd do in their shoes, after all, because for him victory and defeat have lost all meaning. There's similar moments with 17, Frieza, and Goku, but I think the moments with Vegeta are especially prominent, just because Vegeta is so laser-focused on defeating Jiren personally, as opposed to merely winning the tournament or running down the clock.
Ultimately, what turns Jiren around is when Goku and the others manage to win him over with their fighting spirit. Once Goku surpasses him with Ultra Instinct and he starts to despair, his teammates cheer him on, and he forges ahead. He loses the battle and Goku praises him for his performance, and he finally understands what it is that drives the others. Then he confides in Toppo that he has no friends and Toppo's like "We're your friends, dummy." So Jiren still has a long way to go, but at least he's beginning to climb out of his rut.
And that's what makes the character interesting. For his opponents, he's this wall they have to break through, but for him, it's about rediscovering something through the course of the battle.
Is he a good villain? No, but he's not supposed to be a villain at all. He's an antagonist in a story without a bad guy. He's an opponent who lacks the passion that the main cast have, and that's a weak point he discovers as the story wears on. It's a very cool thing we see. I don't know how that will work for future Jiren stories, but that's a problem for another day, I guess.

A DBS MANGA CHAPTER 102 REVIEW. KINDA...
Some stuff about chapter 102 of the DBS manga I don't really like/I want to quickly discuss. Meant to post this last month but didn't. I'm behind on a lot of things.
All those folks saying True UI is Goku's strongest form... The upcoming chapter says otherwise. Goku uses the silver haired UI form & Beerus apparently views that as Goku at his strongest. Heck, Goku calls it his best move. Good job Toyo for creating True UI (black hair) and confusing fans to believe that was stronger than Mastered UI (silver hair) when in reality True UI is simply UI Sign (black hair) that changed how UI works so it matches more closer to how the anime depicted the technique. UI Omen in the anime allowed Goku to use his emotions, but the more control he has over them, the stronger he becomes until he transforms into Mastered UI. UI Sign in the manga was depicted as Goku needing to be emotionless & stated that emotions hinder the power. This was from the ToP Saga all the way until Toyotaro "created" True UI to function off of controlled emotions like how the DBS anime always has & gave it Omen the name "True Ultra Instinct." [Link to a long post that I paraphrased, so you ain't gotta read it unless you're really interested.]
Tumblr media
I get tired of the same expressions in this Super Hero Saga. Its a pouty or surprised face accompanied with an oval shaped mouth. Toyotaro is overusing the hell out of that. Here's a compilation & I left out like 4 other panels with this same expression. (There's more in CH 103)
Tumblr media
I saw ppl talking about the poses when Goku & Gohan fight look cool.... Looks pretty stiff imo. At least from what I've seen. Lacks a feel of movement. And you don't even see most of the fight. It doesn't make it cool imo. We've seen MUI in action against powerful opponents. If MUI Goku & Beast Gohan are close to equal strength, why not show actual combat between the two other than the aftermath of clashes? There was more attention to choreography with Gohan vs Trunks & Goten than there is with Gohan vs Goku. (Chapter 103 does better with the combat for Goku vs Gohan)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Toyotaro doing the "this form is called such & such" is weird for me. Seems like he's trying to hype up Western fans or something. Like when Goten & Trunks name Gohan's potential unleashed form "Ultimate." Its just dialogue for the sake of some sort of fanservice. Some ppl will like it, others wont. I just wasn't a fan of it. Feels like its placed here just for fanservice. If they called it ultimate & didn't draw too much attention to it, I would've prefered that. Its naming it but not stopping the narrative flow.
Tumblr media
Also wasn't a fan of Goku asking Gohan is his new power was SSJ2 or SSJ3. Goku knows dang well Gohan's Potential Unleashed form is far stronger than SSJ2 & was stronger than SSJ3. He should've just asked "So, what's this form of yours?" and leave it there.
Tumblr media
Some Vegeta fans are calling him a proud uncle when he smiles at Gohan & Goku about to spar. No, he is a Saiyan who is ready to see a good fight just as Broly smiled when he watched Goku & Vegeta fight. Is there some pride there? Yes. But Vegeta ain't no uncle figure to Gohan. That's Piccolo & Krillin.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Why are Carmine & Soldier 15 there on Beerus' planet? Goku could have just had his sons & Trunks put a hand on his shoulder then teleported. And why would Gohan see Carmine & 15 who shot at his home & at him, turn Beast out of anger, then hop into the same vehicle as them as if he forgot what happened in the last chapter? It was literally a few seconds ago.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This was just for them to record Goten & Trunks in their costumes (can they even keep up with how fast they are moving?) And it just seems like a plot device that won't matter at all. Anyone remember 7-3 in the Granolah Saga?was there for a moment & served no purpose other than a reference. I bet this with Carmine is for a simple joke to be quickly thrown aside.

In a boring work meeting and suddenly have YET ANOTHER comic idea...word vomiting it here to pass the time:
Say it's sometime after the Cell Games (so Goku is dead) and Chichi manages to snag an interview for Gohan at some high level prestigious school (kinda like in the Broly movie). Except as usual these prestigious interviews are allll about appearances and money and Chichi is kind of hesitant at appearing as a "single mom" with Gohan when they attend the interview because she doesn't wanna be discriminated against and lose the chance for Gohan to get into the school. So she proposes they drag Vegeta along as a replacement cause he looks like a close enough substitute for Goku 🤣
Gohan protests against this cause he's all "why do we have to lie?" and "if they have a problem with it then it's not a school I wanna go to" and "that's just not right!" etc., but Chichi's like "this school could make you so successful" and puts her foot down. So Gohan proposes they take Piccolo instead but of course Chichi rejects that suggestion cause he's big and green. Maybe he proposes Yamcha too but Yamcha is also rejected (idk maybe Chichi thinks Yamcha will give off poor people vibes vs Vegeta would give off royal vibes or something and make them look good cause he's a prince idk 🤣)
ANYWAYS Vegeta obviously declines to help but after pressure (AKA threats) from Bulma he's shoved in a suit (and LOL what if they also split his hair into two pieces with a clip to look like Goku 🤣 maybe too much. But maybe for the lols). They all head to the interview together...cue shenanigans.
Chichi would probably keep pointing out "he's a prince!" and Vegeta would refuse to speak and Gohan straight up wants to jump off a bridge 🤣
Super duper rough preliminary doodles:
Tumblr media
Anyways...it would be funny 🤣

Recently made a post about how hype of a year it was for Dragon Ball and now even the manga is just further supporting the fact. The latest chapter is set just after the Superhero movie and it sees Goku up against Gohan in their strongest forms. Yup, Ultra Instinct vs Beast. Some other cool things to note are that it's not just Gohan there training it's also Goten and Trunks and the location is Beerus' planet so Broly is getting to meet Goku and Vegetas kids for the first time. This is the first time all the saiyans have been gathered in one place!

After the Super Hero Arc
Right now in the manga is the Super Hero Arc (just the manga version of the movie), but once this arc is finished (if you watched the movie you would already know what’s going to happen) I believe we will head straight to fighting Frieza (again).
But maybe this time not alone, I’m hoping we would get the chance that Cooler will be added to the “official” storyline (aka make him canon). Because of Gohan and Piccolo's new forms/abilities, I feel like they won’t be just fighting Frieza.
Tumblr media
We could have a big fight with Broly, Goku, Vegeta, Gohan, Piccolo vs Frieza, Cooler, and maybe more characters. We’ll just have to wait and see what Toriyama & Toyotarou will have planned for the next arc and the characters.
But a thing that makes me wonder is what will happen when Frieza is defeated again, are we close to the end of Dragon Ball Super manga? Will we end where we did in the original dragon ball z Or will Toriyama & Toyotarou will do their take on GT in manga format?
Tumblr media
The future of dragon ball is up in the air, but it’s interesting what will happen in the story and future for the characters and the franchise.

I was talking to my buddy about an old post of mine where I said I want more Dragon Ball movie villains to come back and get either movies or small arcs dedicated to them and building up the non-Goku/Vegeta cast, and we came up with a few new ideas
Dr. Wheelo works as a recurring antagonist, as he can be a good excuse for multiple older concepts to be revisited. To start off, he enhances Tao Pai Pai to be a viable threat, giving Tien a good opponent with some personal significance. Yamcha may also be there to fight Wheelo himself, but it does seem like they're pushing Yamcha to just be a normal guy, so maybe not. Could also be a fun way to revisit Launch if we have a Tien-focused story
Androids 13, 12 and 11 are then brought back by Wheelo to fight 17, 18 and Gamma. When 13 goes Super Android by absorbing his teammates, Hedo finds a way for the good Androids to power up without absorbing each other. Wheelo has also upgraded himself since fighting Yamcha, giving Krillin an opponent for the arc
Bio-Broly is Wheelo's last creation, which would give Broly a reasonably strong enemy to fight without shoehorning him into any of the other villains' stories. It could also serve as a fun way to have DBS Broly fight an approximation of DBZ Broly, as he could reuse the old design with some tweaks
Tapion's return and training with Trunks causes a rift between him and Goten, which ultimately results in Trunks being too powerful for the two of them to perform Fusion anymore. After Trunks and Tapion defeat Hirudegarn with minimal help from Goten, Goten goes off on his own for a while to become a stronger fighter in his own right
Bojack then becomes an antagonist for Goten specifically, allowing for a more accurate recreation of Teen Gohan vs. Bojack now that Gohan has aged out of the part. Goten's new power differentiates him from Trunks significantly, and makes their fusion in the next arc they appear in more notable as it will combine their new disparate traits instead of just doubling up on Saiyan traits
Garlic Jr., similarly, becomes an antagonist for Pan to parallel how he was defeated by kid Gohan without the need to rescale him too much. However, if we don't want Pan to have a major win this early, we could have Pan fight his first form and then use his power-up to explore Gohan's Beast form and possibly get some insight into Orange Piccolo, since Garlic is inherently related to Piccolo's backstory
Lord Slug, then, further expands on whatever hints we get about Piccolo by having an Orange form of his own, perhaps a mastered or elevated version of it with more unique traits. Given that Piccolo is a merging of Warrior- and Dragon-clan Namekians, perhaps it could have two modes and we've only seen the Warrior-mode. Potentially more interesting, Piccolo could need to overcome Slug's Orange form by finding King Piccolo's soul in Hell and taking on his Demon-clan abilities, truly making him a mix of all forms of Namekian. This would also be a good time to give the Orange form a real name
Turles is still introduced as a Universe 6 Saiyan, interrupting Vegeta training Cabba (+Caulifla and Kale), but now that Ultra Ego has been introduced, Vegeta clearly outmatches Turles, so he uses it as an opportunity for Cabba and co. to grow. Cabba takes out form 1 and Kefla handles form 2, but form 3 is too much for them, so Vegeta steps in with Ultra Ego, giving him some much-needed shine
Cooler still fights Frieza and shows us how the Fifth Form can potentially be differentiated from the Golden and Black forms, but mostly just serves as a way to elaborate on what Black can do before having Frieza fight Goku and Vegeta again
Janemba fights Buu, as I said before, but this time instead of serving as a jumping-off point for Uub, he actually serves as a way for Buu and Mr. Satan to work off each other; Janemba is a very tricky opponent, and Buu isn't particularly intelligent, but Mr. Satan is surprisingly smart and a competent martial artist (for a non-ki using human), so Mr. Satan could be helping Buu to read Janemba's fighting style and give him an edge, proving that Mr. Satan isn't the burden to the rest of the cast that he thinks he is
Baby would serve as a culmination of all of the Saiyan's arcs specifically, with all of the special forms and abilities found by Goku, Vegeta, Gohan, Goten, Trunks, Pan and Broly being put on full display against their natural enemy
The Shadow Dragons would serve a similar function, but for the cast as a whole.
Syn/Omega would probably be similar to his original incarnation, with Goku and Vegeta working together and ultimately being defeated by Goku using a Universal Spirit Bomb, but all of the other Dragons would be fought by the rest of the cast.
Haze, as the weakest, would probably be reserved for the human cast - Krillin, Tien, Yamcha, etc. His energy-draining abilities would definitely be a challenge for them, and would require that they be more inventive in how they beat him than other characters likely would be
Eis was created by a wish involving Buu, so I'd enjoy seeing Buu and Uub team up against him, possibly leading to the creation of Majuub
Nuova, along the same lines, was created by King Piccolo's wish, so putting him against Piccolo and Gohan would work really well
Rage, being electrical in nature, could be a fun enemy for the Androids
Oceanus doesn't really have an obvious thematic enemy, but since the fight against her originally was the only one to actually introduce new characters (Colm and his village), using them as a connection to Pan would be a good way to give her more involvement in the arc
Naturon, as one of the eviler Dragons, would be a good enemy for Goten and Trunks to fight since they fancy themselves heroes. His possession ability could also be used to force them to fight each other
Other characters, like villains introduced in Dragon Ball Heroes, could also be canonized and used as a way to show off the newly gained powers, but the ultimate villain would almost definitely be Frieza since he keeps getting stronger and stronger and we've already seen him forced to team up with Goku. I'm sure new characters will continue to be introduced too, like Moro and the Heeters, and none of this even considered how Granolah might contribute to the plot going forward, but my main goal here was to focus on classic characters. I do like Granolah, though, so I hope they find reasons to bring him back somewhere in there too. Maybe he'll be involved in the Baby arc since the Tuffles and Cerealians are both victims of the Saiyans, so there may be good reason to reintroduce him in that arc
I'm willing to bet that basically none of this will happen, and that Toriyama will want to focus more on the new and will continue not to worry about the extended cast, but in my world, Dragon Ball utilizes its existing cast as much as humanly possible
If I'm only right about one of these, I honestly hope it's Cooler

Super Dragon Ball Heroes 47-49
Tumblr media
All right, it’s about time we wrapped this web-anime up...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So Demigra gained Dark Factor powers, plus he controls the Scroll of Eternity, so he’s riding high at the moment.  The first thing he does is alter the landscape of Aeos’ tournament battleground.   I’m not sure why this matters, since none of these environments were real or anything, right?
Tumblr media
Then he summons various bad guys to fight the warriors on the battleground. And not just the usual suspects, either.  We’re talking deep cuts, like Chilled from “Episode of Bardock”, and Fin, a Majin from the SDBH manga.  I think Towa created Fin, but I’m not sure.
Tumblr media
Also, some of Mechikabura’s crew from the Dark Empire saga, again seen in the manga.  This is weird, because a number of these guys would consider Demigra an enemy, although maybe they’d sing a different tune since he’s the Dark King.
Tumblr media
We finally got Super 13 and Lord Slug in this show.  So now the only classic movie baddies left unused are Garlic Junior and Bio-Broly.  I’ll be looking for them down the line, when SDBH releases the “Fugliest Yaoi Couple” Arc.
Tumblr media
Oh, and here’s Baby Vegeta and Hatchiyack, ready to take on Jiren.  See, what irks me about this series is that this would actually be pretty fun to watch.  Would these two brutes stand a chance, or would Jiren blow them away with his awesome strength? But instead we just get this one shot to tease the idea, with no follow-through.  And that would make sense, considering that we have a main plot to follow, but that main plot always involves the same characters doing the same moves over and over again.
Tumblr media
And we’ve got Cell, but so what?  This show already brought back Cell and didn’t do anything with him, so why should I get excited when they do it a second time?
Tumblr media
Also, SSJ4 Broly is here, but Xeno Gogeta takes care of him.  I’m not clear on whether this was a bad guy Demigra arranged to help him, or if this is the same Broly who was entered in Aeos’s tournament, and he just wandered over here on his own.
Seriously, this is really weak stuff.  We’ve seen fusion in this show at least ten times now, and this is the second or third time they’ve had Broly barge into the story as a wildcard.  I was going to say they had Broly fight Gogeta already, but no, that was Vegito the last time, my mistake.  I mean, what the hell?  The whole appeal of Dragon Ball Heroes was the plethora of what if scenarios and weird dream matches that you couldn’t get anywhere else.  But this show’s been running for five years now, and what do they do?  Broly vs. Gogeta.  Yeah, that’s totally fresh and novel.  It’s not like they made a feature film about it or anything.
Tumblr media
Goku tries to stop Demigra, but he gets wiped out, so Aeos tries to beat him with some big special move she rarely uses.   Also no sale.  Demigra just powers out of it the same as anything else.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Meanwhile, I gues Chilled must have killed Vidro’s people, because he talks about finishing the job when he sees her, and this gets her all fired up.
Tumblr media
Vidro and Yamcha do a combo move where he makes a Soukidan and she covers it in broken glass, and they drop it on Chilled’s head.  Then Vidro proposes to Yamcha, so things are moving very quickly here.
Tumblr media
Demigra’s got Goku dead to rights, but then Vegeta shows up to make the save, and that gives Chronoa and idea.  She asks Aeos to keep Demigra busy while she executes a plan to save the day.  Is it fusion?  Yes, yes it is.
Tumblr media
Meanwhile, Trunks and Future Gohan are getting beat down, and Gohan apologizes for letting him down, but Trunks tells him that they can protect each other this time, and fight side-by-side.  And I guess that’s a dream come true for both of them, since Trunks never had the chance in his timeline, and this version of Gohan comes from a world where he survived but his Trunks got killed.
Tumblr media
So Vegito seems to turn the tide against Demigra, but he’s not too worried because he estimates that their fusion will dissolve relatively quickly if he keeps fighting at this level.  So Demigra weathers the storm and...
Tumblr media
Yeah, they come apart, and Demigra takes out Vegeta just to make sure they don’t try this again.
Tumblr media
Demigra powers up and powers up his minions, then shoots a big energy ball down at Goku.  He tries his best to stop it, but he can’t do it alone.
Tumblr media
But then he’s joined by Future Gohan, who reluctantly left Trunks to fight alone so he could lend support to Goku.
Tumblr media
But Trunks isn’t alone for long, as a bunch of good guys start showing up to help.  Are these the other fighters from the tournament?  Didn’t Aeos erase them already?
Tumblr media
Then Bardock shows up to help Gohan and Goku against Demigra.  He gives them a pep talk and they power up some more.  Goku goes Ultra Instinct, Bardock turns Super Saiyan 4...
Tumblr media
... And I don’t think Future Gohan changes at all.  Well, anyway, their combined power finally pushes Demigra back...
... and that’s it.  We’ll have to wait until Episode 50 comes out to see if Demigra is defeated or not.  I would think this would do the trick.  I mean, they already used Fusion as a false finish, so if this triple Kamehameha can’t do it, I don’t know what else there is to try.
So for now, that takes care of Super Dragon Ball Heroes.  It’s a fun little diversion, but it’s pretty weak on plot and long-term storytelling.  The show mainly depends on namedropping and cramming as many power ups and characters into each episode to get attention.  I’m glad I waited this long to watch the whole thing in a short period of time, because checking this thing out in 9 minute installments once every 6-8 weeks would get really, really frustrating.
