Woo! An actual relevant take! When I first saw the drama, I couldn't understand what the big deal was.
I think fans may be a liiiiiiiiitle too entitled these days (*holds up shield* in case I have the misfortune of this reblog being seen by the wrong people) We support creators the best way we can (money, views, likes, comments, shares) so they can do the things they want to do, but when they do try doing what they want to do, we dog pile them when it's not what we want them to do.
Love them when they're 'relatable' and hate them when they're not. I would honestly hate being a popular creator if my fans would turn on me that easily.
I do think they could have involved the fans, get a feel for how they felt and such. Maybe eased them into it or tried alternatives.
And no, I'm not saying this because I can afford the monthly fee. I can't. It's $40 in my currency, I'm currently unemployed and I don't have a credit card, so even if I could afford it, I have no way to actually pay.
I'm used to not being able to support monetarily 🤷‍♀️
I'm still seeing a lot of angry takes in the tags about how excessive Watcher's current costs are and how all fans really want, apparently, is "just shane and ryan sitting in a basement" back again. While I do think Watcher is probably spending over budget and that's a real issue, a lot of the takes I'm seeing show a fundamental misunderstanding of how video production works and where costs actually lie. So a few quick things that I just keep seeing that are bothering me:
It was never just Shane and Ryan in a basement. BFU did a great job selling that conceit and making sure you never saw anyone beyond them and maybe TJ, but they absolutely had other crew members with them on ghost hunts and they didn't do all the work on BFU themselves. This Q&A from Season 2 lists 36 people on staff for Buzzfeed Unsolved. It's fair to make arguments that Watcher may or may not need 25 people, but those arguments should not be coming from a place of "before it was just Shane and Ryan and nobody else."
If you don't know how many people are needed to make a professional video from a TV/film standpoint, you will not have a reasonable grasp of why Watcher wants to keep 25 people on staff. Sure, some YouTubers get by with a ring light and a contracted editor. The Watcher team have stated repeatedly that they do not want to work as just YouTubers and see themselves more as a production studio—so why do people keep referencing the YouTube model to understand their business? This is like asking the local shake shop why it doesn't function like the kids' lemonade stand down the block. The item category is similar but they're not trying for the same products or process.
The "gold dusted food" is not the big budget sink you think it is. On most TV shows I've worked on it's normal to partner with businesses that are shown onscreen and work out a deal where the price of the product (in this case the gold food) is reduced or eliminated in exchange for the free publicity. Watcher very likely made a deal with every restaurant it worked with to make the Korea trip affordable for the company. The real budget spends are on things you're probably not seeing but that still matter: camera and lighting equipment is expensive, insurance for that equipment is expensive, business overhead and paying your staff are expensive. So again—it's fine to critique Watcher for the streaming plan and the perceived budgetary issues, but go into this knowing the costs might not be coming from the things you see onscreen.
My source is that I work in TV and film and actually have a clue on how the industry functions. Again, 36 people worked on Unsolved (and those were the people mention in Season 2—who knows how big the team blew up past that in later seasons). Entertainment work is real work, and demands decent equipment, competent staff, and the same types of business and budget problems you'd find in any other business (overhead, staffing, etc.). Feel free to critique Watcher's business model, but first try to understand where that model is coming from and what goals it's attempting to serve.

Danny Phantom Crochet Fantasy Hood- Part 2
Part 1 | Here | Part 3 | Part 4
Yeeeeeeeah this isn't working 😅
As I expected, it's way too long and I don't like how the holes scrunch up at the back.
Also, the seams are too bulky. I slip-stiched the panels together and that was a mistake 😅 I like the little point I get at the back, but the seam ruins it 😖
The depth (I think?) of the hood is alright. It could be deeper to give my hair some more room.
Thank goodness I started this early!
What I'm going to change:
Shortening the length of the panels
Making the width wider to accommodate my (growing) hair
Ues a darning needle to sew the panels together for a less bulky seam
Less holes and have them more to the front
Now to unravel all of this! 😑😑😑

Seeing everyone's Danny Phantom art is inspiring me and makes me want to draw at the most inopportune of times ⏰🏃‍♀️
I have a lot of new ideas now tho, so I might include them in my #agdoodles Daily Doodles challenge to at least get them on paper.

Daily Doodles- Day 12- 28/04/24
Whoops! The paper in my sketchbook got bent, so Dani looks a bit funny 😅
I drew Danny and Dani from the TV show Danny Phantom 👻👻👻
Not my best drawing of them, but this is just a doodle!

Danny Phantom Crochet Fantasy Hood- Part 1
Here | Part 2 | Part 3 | Part 4
New crochet project!
I'm making a fantasy hood for my Danny Phantom cosplay! I don't do wigs or unnecessary products in my hair (I'm growing it out and don't want to mess it up) so I decided to represent Danny's white hair with some sort of headpiece.
I'm basically crocheting 2 pannels and will stitch them together to form the hood. I wanted to make that big, cavernous kind of hood, but my panels maaaayyy be a bit too long. I'm still not sure, so I'll finish the next panel, sew them up and see how it goes.
These didn't take long to make and it's actually quite relaxing to work on, so I don't mind unraveling and starting over.

Multi-Blue Granny Square Crochet Maxi-Skirt Update #6
Update 0 | Update 1 | Update 2 | Update 3 | Update 4 | Update 5 | Here
Not much of an update. I haven't touched this project since the last one.
I've been thinking of taking off a couple of rows to make it a shorter skirt. I live in the Caribbean and this skirt is warmer than expected 😖 🔥
While I contemplate that, I'll finally be working on the waistband. I'm going to do it with double crochet and do decreases to bring it to the size of my waist.
Wish me luck, because I'm doing this with no reference whatsoever!

Daily Doodles- Day 12- 27/04/24
Also did this doodle at 12 am. Well, more like 1 am, because for me 'doodle' doesn't necessarily mean 'quick art'.
Just a girl with cool hair 💇‍♀️

Daily Doodles- Day 11- 27/04/24
Wrote the wrong date. I did this doodle at 12 am. I was still awake, so why not? Also needed to catch up, because I was THREE DAY behind!
She's supposed to have bubble hair, but they also look like scales 🫧 🐉

Daily Doodles- Day 10- 26/04/25
Guess who's late again because they decided to go to bed at a reasonable time and had to do the previous day's doodle the next day?
This was for the 25th. It was also my Father's birthday, so I was dealing with more important things.
Anyway, I got this cool, punny idea for a 'house dress' after browsing Pinterest 🏠

I don't like this obsession with violent abuse that (ALL) fandoms have. These days I can't stand to read violent stories. It's not good for the soul. I have to skip it because I only came for the actual good parts of the story.
you guys act like jack and janet were beating up a kid and locking him in a closet. yes, there was emotional neglect, and there's A LOT you can do with that for angst. people always overlook emotional abuse because it's "more tragic" to write physical abuse. as if tim's life wasn't tragic enough.

Daily Doodles- Day 9- 24/04/24
I had something else planned for today, but I'm tired, I have work tomorrow and I don't have the time to finish it.
Have this cool looking girl instead! I've always liked the design of characters whose eyes are 'attached' to their heads.

I've always hesitated to post some of the Jesus/God/Christian centered videos I watch, because some of the speakers may come off as too harsh for unbelievers to listen to.
They seem harsh because they're usually speaking to Christians who should know better, but this man specifically speaks to unbelievers and is kind when sharing.
This video of his is particularly moving.
TW: There are descriptions of torture and cause of death. It's not horribly graphic, but it's emotional to hear.
You've heard about how Christ died for our sins so that we can be forgiven, but do you understand how much he suffered for us?
