“I’m wearing a thrifted 80s prom dress, a sweater I crocheted, and star balaclava. I’m using leftover crystal trim from work as a ’bow tie’. The purse, I thrifted almost 10 years ago in SF. Shoes are UGGs that I bedazzled with more leftover crystals from work. And most importantly, under all this is a full body layer of heat tech because it’s cold and windy. Today I was inspired by my desire to be warm and comfy because that was the only way I was leaving the house in this weather.”

I made a few roly-polies a while ago, and was finally able to get some pictures of them with some brighter daylight :)
Compared to real pill bugs, they're quite large, but this is just about as small as I can make them. They all fit in my hand as a decent handful.

The neon boi is finished and the disaster twins are reunited at last! Cameo of Mikey hiding in a box cause he’s currently naked.
Next on my list is figuring out how to edit my pattern into a chunkier size for Raph.

A (final?) update on my crochet Golden Deer banner
Hello and welcome back to my now-almost year old crochet project
And I have finally finished it (the crochet part of it anyway)
Tumblr media
There he is
He’s definitely not perfect. A little rough the edges in some places and not quite as rectangular as intended
I also still need to sew in the ends (the back is Very Messy rn) or back the whole thing with fabric so I don’t have to do that (which I might do anyway to give it some additional support)
I also want to try and block it out a little bit so it’s vaguely more square than it currently is.
But for now.
It’s done!

Unhinged Glimpse Into My Life
Holding floppy crochet light teal-blue lump in my hands and flailing it about cackling like a maniac.
Chef-Husband approaches, apprehensively asks: "uhh... what the fuck is that?"
Me, looking up at him and wiping my eyes: "It's a Buggy the Clown-terpillar that I'm making for @sordidmusings. Isn't it just fucking unhinged?"
Him, thoughtfully scratching his chin and taking the thing from my hands: "I'll be right back with him."
Confused me begins crocheting mushroomy hat for his head, patiently waiting for Chef-Husband to return.
He brings the Clown-terpillar and sets it down on the table where I'm working: "I added wire. He is now able to move around and sit upright like a proper gentleman."
Me @ chef-husband:

Safe to say, it's now a group project. And he can move.

Hello all!
Because of the ice storm in our area, I've lost out on an entire week of work. The sidewalk and parking lot of our apartment complex is completely iced over and we cannot safely go anywhere. That does mean our income the rest of the month is going to me abysmal, unfortunately.
I originally opened up commissions due to starting the year with Covid, and then getting sent home from work on my first day back because of a separate illness. I was supposed to go back to work on Sunday (1/14), but that was when the storm hit and nothing was done to make getting out of the lot safe, nor was the main street near us plowed or salted. I have still worked a grand total of 3 hours and 48 minutes in the year 2024, and I'm kind of desperate to make enough money to keep paying rent.
Things are supposed to melt by tomorrow, but I don't have another shift until Sunday. At that point, I should go back to 40hr weeks, and things will get easier. But, until then (and probably beyond then), I'm doing crochet commissions, as well as opening up my own Etsy store to ease a few of those!
The link to the store is below, or, if you want something other than the two listings I currently have, just message me and we can work something out 💜

Finally done
So, I got into crochet around a year ago, and have been doing some small scale stuff since then. I honestly didn’t crochet much throughout the year, and it’s only more recently that I’ve decided I’m permanently invested. I’ve done a few projects but they’ve been relatively small and simple. However, I finally finished my biggest and most complicated project yet. It’s not the most intricate, but I’d say it’s pretty good for a beginner with only like 2 completed projects and lots of bits and bibs lying around. It’s out of season but I’m still ridiculously proud of this thing lol

Here it is! I found the pattern on ravelry, it’s boo! by Marsha Glassner. There’s also a video on YouTube by captain crochet that I found especially helpful when I found things not lining up. My next plan is amigurumi, maybe of something I’m watching (tiny Conan plushie maybe lol).
