Stunning Faust (1926) by F. W. Murnau
Emil Janning's portrayal of Mephisto is over-the-top, like anything he did, and extremely effective, turning him into one of the creepiest and most charismatic Devils of them all.
Let's not forget beautiful Gösta Ekman as Faust.

Spectacular sets for Cleopatra (1963)
This is as big as you get in movies, you guys, at least in non-cgi-ed movies. Cleopatra and its impressive display of grandeur represents the last attemp of the Old Star System to survive its most terrible competitor: Television. So, Fox decided to concoct something so huge that only movie theathers could accommodate it.
Although the sets were indredibly big, they were not big enough, however, to withstand the weight of the star and her many maladies, excesses and scandals. Elizabeth Taylor got paid USD 1.000.000 for her role as Cleopatra, making her the first million-dollar diva. She was unstoppable.
Let's take a moment to delight in the detail poured into each scene.

Cleopatra Enters Rome (Part Two)
Infamous for being the costliest film ever made* and for showcasing Elizabeth Taylor at the peak of her beauty and scandalous adulterous life.
The long, breathtaking procession began. The sets were so massive that for years they were a turistic attraction in Italy.
*Cleopatra (1963) directed by Joseph L. Mankiewicz - aesthetic pleasure.

The Night of the Hunter (1955) directed by  Charles Laughton
One of the darkest of the psychological noir jewels. Roberth Mitchum and Shelley Winters shine as the stars of the film.

Cleopatra Enters Rome (Part One)
Infamous for being the costliest film ever made* and for showcasing Elizabeth Taylor at the peak of her beauty and scandalous adulterous life.
Taylor plays Cleopatra, of course in one of the grandest, most spectacular films ever made. Her iconic entrance into Rome is so lenghty - and breathtaking- that it is split over several posts, to better appreaciate the beauty and craftmanship of every scene, costume and prop.
Rex Harrison (as Ceasar) swathed in royal purple exchanges words with Hume Cronyn (as Sosigenes) as they wait for Cleopatra`s arrival.
They were in for a shock.
*Cleopatra (1963) directed by Joseph L. Mankiewicz is still among the most expensive films ever made, although not in the first place.
