I understand that this is a very special show for many many people and opinions will be very extreme and nit-picky but let me just say this:

The live action adaptation wasn't as bad as I expected. I had read about butchering the characters and everything and I was prepared to hate it but you know what I thoroughly enjoyed this first season. I spent most of episodes one and four sobbing for many reasons (iykyk) and I laughed so much with Sokka being Sokka. I know this is a show people grew up with but the original material was targeting children. This is targeting adults. I don't find it so bad that they focused on the was tactics. Seeing the annihilation of the Air Nomads hurt so bad but it drove the point home. I felt Aang’s pain. I felt Katara's horror when her mother was killed in front of her.

Did I miss female rage TM Katara ranting about her sexist brother and accidentally releasing the avatar? Sure I did. Did I think Bumi made absolutely no sense literally fighting Aang for no reason trying to teach him a lesson he had no business teaching? Hell yes. This isn't a perfect adaptation and I fully recognize it. But I liked the creative choices they made. I already know exactly how things unfold in the original series so I can fill in the blanks in my head if I wanna. The live action kept the important events and the direction of the plot pretty well. They even snuck in things we see in FILLER EPISODES and don't actually affect the plot (SECRET TUNNEEEEEELLLL)

Idk man. I had a great day off work binging the show today and I'm very happy to have this adaptation with kids in these roles that did a great job. Bitch about it all you want but for me, the heart if the show, the essence of it is still there in the live action.
