Every time one of (his) The kids or Eddie do something they weren’t supposed to Steve always gives them the same rant about how they could have gotten hurt or lost how they could have died. Que Eddie doing something stupid, where he could have gotten hurt.

The second eddie (and the kids following behind to watch him get yelled at) see Steve with his arms already crossed he knows he fucked up, so he tells him :

Steve: (arms on hips) (starts to open his mouth)

Eddie: (hangs his head down) I’m so sorry, I know what I did was reckless and wrong, I could have died or gotten hurt, I know I scared you and I shouldn’t have brought the kids along and it would have been all my fault if something had happen to them or me, I know you love us and don’t wanna see us get hurt. I love you too and I will clean your car and take the kids to school all week as punishment. I will be up our room to think about what I did.

The kids : (shocked)

Steve: (shocked & speechless) y-yes you will. a-And don’t do that again?

Eddie: (kisses Steve on the cheek) I won’t

Mike: What the fuck ?!

Stephen is a massive hand holder and is very affectionate in his own way, and it completely takes the team by surprise.

No one saw that shit coming in a million years.

One time, Nat bumps into him and Peter one winter evening in Bryant park.

And not only is the good Dr. Drinking a fucking h o t c h o c o l a t e ??? But his other Burberry-glove-clad hand is occupied by peters

“Nat, hey!” Peter calls excitedly.

“Hey you two. What are you doing here?”

“It’s date night”. Peter answers simply and Stephen hums.

“We’re gonna go ice skating and try to do some Holliday shopping. We went last winter on one of our first dates, I’m hoping it stays a tradition” Stephen answers looking almost sheepish as Peter kisses his cheek in confirmation.

She whispers the story to Sam and Steve the next day who simply can’t believe her, but when they see the photo of stephen smiling (he can do that?) and tying his laces on peters Instagram (one of a multi photo post- including stephen and Peter holding hands on the ice, a candid of Stephen looking at a case of jewelry and a photo of two plates and Stephen’s face in a warm, intimate and cozy looking restaurant- they realize nat was completely honest and correct.

And then there’s the time tony saw them in the common space, and Peter was working on some lab report for grad school and Stephen’s arm was around his shoulder, scrolling through a book on his phone and occasionally being distracted by a poke to his leg of a mumble of “Stephen?”, humming in response as Peter asked “does this make sense?”. Answering “It’s great baby” with a kiss to the temple half the time, but the other half actually offering input and assistance.

And then there was family movie night, and peter put his head on Stephen’s lap and Stephen accepted the invasion, running his hands through peters hair happily.

Or the time at a party everyone witnessed the couple tucked away talking, Stephen’s hands resting on peters waist, smiling wide at each other with a sweet look in their eyes, not long before they dipped away to peters apartment in the tower.

Or maybe it’s what bucky noticed on the jet that day. A fact he never realized but the kind of thing he was trained to notice, peters clear fear of flying. And next to peter is Stephen. Stephen, who has the capability to open a portal to go wherever he needs, but is there, to be by peters side. And Stephen’s holding peters hand, gentle and peters white knuckling him. Stephen leans down to close the 4 inches between them, whispering something in peters hair and hissing his head after.

Stephen is affectionate.
