so i study decolonization, as in i studied it as part of my degree, and i thought I'd make a list of some readings/films that might offer additional insight about decolonization (it also helps if you're tired of the christian moralistic thinking)
occupation 101 (can be found on youtube i believe, it's about the history between isreal and palestine, it focuses on palestinians and it is quite comprehensive. there's live footage, there's interviews with palestinian children, etc. it's a must watch i think, regarding palestine. it points the finger squarely at the united states.)
the wretched of the earth, franz fanon. fanon is really well known in the decolonization sphere because he writes about it in a very succinct and clear way. to him, decolonization can never occur peacefully, and i think that's a really important key lesson. he also talks about how colonizers don't just take land, they reframe ideas, they take language, art, thoughts.
the battle of algiers, 1966. this is a fascinating film, it's sort of a documentary, they got the actual people to play their parts. it describes and interviews the main individuals involved in the fight for independence within Algiers. i think understanding how a nation can gain independence over its colonial forces is really important in the grand scheme of decolonialism.
unthinking eurocentrism. if you can get your hands on it, i love this text. it's so poignant and it lays everything out so clearly and it really shows how we center our worlds around eurocentrism and westernism.

Was Gossip Girl a mess? Absolutely.
Would it have been tidier if they had let Blair and Dan be friends and not have destroyed that friendship/relationship/situationship? Absolutely.
Am I bitter about this? Also Absolutely.

Entirely not the point. But watching Dave Grohl playing Wembley in a sleeveless shirt was...different. Not bad, but just...he normally doesn't?

The Taylor Hawkins Tribute Concert was a piece of magic. I laughed, sang and cried. Dave, the Foos and the Hawkins family should be so proud of what they put together.

The issue with Lenkov shows (I've got many) and the relationships is that they took place off screen and we were expected to feel connections?
In Hawaii Five-0 Steve and Cath - when we first meet her, she's doing a favour for Steve and the idea is that they're kind of together but not. All the while, there is already a female lead in the show, a series regular in this case Kono, who you could see breadcrumbs to a relationship with Steve, kick ass, strong character, strong female who wouldn't have been diminished in this relationship. Instead, Kono ends up in a relationship with Adam, who duct tapes her to a chair which she immediately forgives, an action that goes against everything we knew about her.
Or in MacGyver when Mac and Desi have a whole ass relationship off screen between seasons, during a time jump and again, we're expected to be invested? You don't show us the awkward get together, the relationship building and ultmiate falling apart to give us the level of discomfort between them when we see them at the start of a new season. Similarly, we already have a regular female character in the show who would be a good match for Mac who throughout the many (although not enough) seasons we can see a connection build, Riley Davis, super smart, quick on her feet, genius in ways that Mac isn't. A brilliant balance already in the show. And turns Desi into something she isn't and shouldn't have ever been.
Lenkov wasted the natural chemistry of his cast and characters and frankly, I'll never forgive him for that (and some other things.)
At least Higgins and Magnum are getting a shot.

You know in Teen Wolf, when Deucalion is giving his speech about being the alpha of alphas, the apex predator, the demon wolf aka basically the best alpha to ever live?
Imagine if Peter Hale had been in the room. The eye rolling and tone of distain would have been off the charts.
