Outfit Design Challenge!

The Challenge: make two original outfit designs (one for each) using only your imagination and the individual collage for reference (no google!)

(I guess I technically can't stop you from looking outside the collages or combining them both into one outfit, but like... pretty please don't)

The body chosen to wear the designed outfit (blorbo, OC, mannequin, self, etc) is entirely up to personal preference. All creative mediums allowed (AI "artists" will be blocked and reported)

My reason for making this challenge: I made these two separate reference collages for two of my OCs while redesigning their outfits, and I became curious how other people would interpret them. I would love to compare other designs to my own and see how they end up differing from each other.

Disclaimer: The designs you make are entirely your own and may only be used by others (including myself) if you (the artist) give permission to do so. That being said, different designs are likely to look similar to one-another due to shared references, so please be mindful of this fact before making any accusations of theft.

It has been brought to my attention that the shoulders are doing Too Much, so I'm gonna be fixing that as well.

I also noticed that on the up motion (regardless of which foot is stepping) it moves slightly to the right which is... I don't know how that happened

I intentionally made it more of a runway walk, rather than a normal walk. It's supposed to feel confident, sexy, and threatening, and the character is wearing heels.

The arms feel a bit short and I realize the bat is way too small, but I promise I will fix that (later)

I'm open to any advice regarding animation, anatomy, or my arch nemesis (foreshortening)

I wanna learn more about Brindeia, what kind of different Races live there

OH BOY I'M SO GLAD YOU ASKED!

(I actually saw this ask last night, but wanted to wait until today because mobile is not enough for everything I gotta say)

So to start with, every race is based on an "element" that they have the power to control, as gifted by the gods. So, all the races had originally been regular humans a really long time ago until the individual cultures made deals with the gods for different powers, so the races evolved over time according to those powers.

There is a whole-ass essay under the cut

The Races:

Mitsu (animals): This is the first race I ever created and they have a special connection with animals. Their primary gods are Brindeia (earth) who rules over life and Oupa (small moon) who rules over souls. Each person is born at the same time as an animal which is their soulbond. Through their soulbond, the animal is given human-like intelligence and the human is given animal-like abilities, plus they take on the natural lifespan of whichever one would live longer. They also both share the same colorations in skin, hair, eyes, and even scars. On some rare occasions, the human will even develop animal-like body parts. The downside to this soulbond is that they quite literally share souls, so if one of them dies, the other will be missing a chunk of their soul which leads to severe depression and loss of certain abilities. Mitsu can also communicate telepathically with their soulbond, can generally understand the language of the species that their soulbond is, and they have an easy time gaining the trust of animals and learning other animals' languages.

Aburesk (air): This race has the ability to control air. Their primary god is Virti (large moon) who rules over air. They have the easiest time controlling the regular atmosphere, but their power allows them to control just about anything in a gaseous state, including control over movement, temperature, density, etc. They were also given the power of flight by their god, so they have bird-like wings and tails [I was originally going to give them mammal/bat wings, and then I realized I can do whatever tf I want.] In order to benefit them in flight, this race evolved over time to typically have small, lightweight bodies. They also have long pointed ears like elves.

Leonin (fire): This race has the ability to create and control fire. Their primary god is Sel (sun) who rules over heat and fire. This race is basically is humans evolved to become dragons. Their skin is thick and fireproof, and has a slightly sparkly red/gold/green/silver tint to it (color tint is genetic, like hair or eyes). They can create fire and heat, manipulate fire, and even breathe fire. They also have horns, gifted by their god as a show of favor, which have shapes that somewhat resemble crowns.

Paloi'i (water): This race has the ability to control water. Their primary god is Virti (large moon) who rules over water. This race primarily lives in the water or on small islands. Their skin is gray-ish and smooth, like a dolphin, and water slides off their hair like a duck. Blaschko's lines are generally visible on their backs, they have black scleras, a clear film over their eyes for seeing underwater, webbed hands and feet, they're incredibly fast swimmer, and on average they can hold their breath for about 30 minutes. This is probably the least human-looking race tbh.

Eneius (earth): This race has the ability to control earth (dirt, rocks, crystals, etc) and sometimes metal. Their primary god is Brindeia (earth) who... is literally the planet on which they stand. The most notable trait of these people is their crystal bones, which are significantly stronger than regular bones. These crystal bones will typically grow out of the body in horn-like structures called juts, but with a randomness that sometimes leads to disability. This race also has a cancer specific to themselves in which the crystal bones don't stop growing until the individual in completely immobilized and encapsulated by their own bones and dies (there's a really expensive but effective medicine to stop it from spreading). Because of how hard this crystal bones are, they can't be removed for broken (and since they're technically DNA and not real crystals, they can't be removed with magic either). Another unique trait that this race developed is that their blood can be any hue between red and purple. This race has also evolved to typically be very big and buff, due to heavy lifting and mining.

Ru (plants): This race has the ability to control and communicate with plants. Their primary god is Brindeia (earth) who rules over life. Their bodies frequently grow vines, sticks, flowers, leaves, etc, although these can be removed if they want. This race is also capable of changing sex at will, so they have no definitive sexes or genders. However, if they switch to male while pregnant, it will cause a miscarriage. This race can speak the languages of all plant-life, including fungus. They can encourage plants to grow at a certain rate or in a certain way, and they also instinctively understand how to care for different plants and which plants are edible/poisonous/medicinal/hallucinogenic/etc. This race also have downward-pointed ears.

Desnin (electricity): This race has the ability to control electricity. Their primary god is Sel (sun) who rules over fire and lightning. The only visually identifying trait of this race is that their born with birthmarks that look like lichtenburg figures. They are also born completely unable to control their electricity, constantly at an "on" state, so a non-Desnin touching a Desnin child is basically a death sentence. They learn to control their electricity with age, going from always "on" as infants, to only strong emotional outbursts as children, until finally their default becomes "off" around 8-12 years old and they have to choose to turn it on. This race is impervious to electrical shock and have both the highest rate of lightning strikes and a 100% lightning survival rate.

Tulla (gravity): This race has the ability to control gravity and magnetism. Their primary gods are Brindeia (earth) who has the gravity that keeps everyone in place and Oupa (small moon) who rules over mysterious and unexplainable forces. They're ability to control gravity is most often used for jumping, floating, and carrying heavy objects, but can also be used to hold things down and make them heavier. These people tend to be tall as a result frequent anti-gravity, but are also very weak due to a lack of need for strength. They are also immune to vertigo and dizziness due to anti-gravity. They have small bee-like wings which help control their movement when they're floating. They also have antennae which can sense gravity and magnetic pulls regardless of their power, which provides them with a good sense of direction. They also have pointed ears, though smaller than the Aburesk.

Jenlin (light): This race has the ability to control light. Their primary gods are Sel (sun) who rules over day time and light, and Virti (large moon) who rules over night time and darkness. This race is able to turn invisible, covered in shadow, glow, change colors, camouflage, and anything else that's controlled by light. They also have incredible night vision, and their eyes and palms naturally glow in the dark. If not actively using their abilities to control their appearance, this race is prone to changing colors as a result of strong emotions. They may or may not be able to see more colors than a typical human. Their ability to control light does not just affect their own bodies, but can be used on anyone and anything, even sometimes creating illusions where there is nothing (with lots of practice). Aside from their sometimes strange colorations, they have no identifying physical traits.

The "Chosen One" Elements:

There are two elements which are not inherited from the parents. People who are born with these elements are born to parents of the above races and chosen by the gods to have one of these elements for reasons unknown. Most consider being chosen or having a chosen child to be an extreme privilege which shows favor by the gods.

Kenst (mind): This is the element of empaths and telepaths. Their primary god is Oupa (small moon) who rules over the soul. The abilities and strength of ability of this element varies between individuals. Possible abilities include: mind-reading, telepathic communication, feeling others' emotions, affecting others' emotions, induce hallucinations, mind-control, and inducing psychosis. The latter few are a lot less likely than the former ones. Individuals with this element can be identified by their purple irises and white hair. Other physical traits are determined by their parent race, even though they lack the abilities of their parent race.

Erev (time/space): The primary god of this element is Oupa (small moon) who rules over the mysterious and unknown. Abilities of this element may vary between individuals. Possible abilities include: ability to see through time, ability to see other points in space, ability to create portals that travel through time and/or space. The last one is extremely rare. This element is frequently regarded as the most powerful and most rare element a person can have. This element also requires extensive training to be able to control when/where the person is viewing. Individuals with this element can be identified by a vertical third eye on their forehead, between the brows. Other physical traits are determined by their parent race, even though they lack the abilities of their parent race.

I might come back to this post and reblog with an explanation of the cultures, but I thought including that here and now would be a little too much, and also the cultures aren't fleshed out very well.
