So, I actually write for all of the Titans, first gen (Hank, Dawn, Dick, etc) and the new gen (Rachel, Gar, Jason, Conner, and now my boy Tim), including characters like Rose and Jericho! Basically, if they’re in the show, I’ll probably write for them and I’ll do it happily.

How would Jason Todd (Titans) react to his best friend writing fanfiction?

AH, okay. First of all, thank you for this. Easily one of the funnest things I’ve written in awhile (but I always have fun with your requests, let’s be real) and my askbox is currently empty, so you are doing a civic duty by asking!

That face. That face right there is the exact expression he’s going to make after he asks what you’re writing about when you start to explain what it is you’re doing.

I feel like he’d probably alternate between a couple of different reactions, but every single one is going to end with him (affectionately) teasing you.

But don’t let him lie, he actually thinks it’s pretty neat and if you happen to get a kudos left on ao3 at two in the morning from a user by thebestrobin it totally wasn’t him, alright? Yes, it was.

And as a fun little bonus, I’m really high on the idea of any canonverse fandom. Tim Drake is proof and I will die on that hill.

So, if anything you write pertains to him or the Titans in some way, he’s simultaneously going to double down on his teasing and get really invested.

I wouldn’t say that, you’re making me sound like a dumbass!

Jason. Honey, sweetie, baby. You kind of are.

Not really.

He will sit quietly with you while you’re writing, whether throwing around headcanon ideas or working on a new chapter. At some point, his attention will shift from whatever he’s doing to read over your shoulder.

He will ask a lot of questions. Like, so many questions. And at a certain point it’s less that he doesn’t understand and more about him wanting to see into the world of your writing from your own perspective.

He’ll occasionally throw his own ideas out there! If you’re out and you see something that sparks his imagination, he’ll turn to you and say something like hey, imagine x character with so-and-so

It gets added to the next chapter and he gets so giddy when he sees that an outsiders idea has been accepted into your writing! He’s all smiles, feeling very proud of himself for it.

He’ll be your beta reader! He doesn’t know what a beta is, but he’ll ask to see your rough drafts before it’s posted and Jason being Jason, doesn’t stop himself from correcting any spelling errors. It happens to the best of us.

All your titles come from him. He’ll read it, before volunteering random song lyrics to go by.

He makes an effort to learn more about whatever fandoms you write about. He’ll take the time to watch movies, tv shows, whatever it is, and make a lot of mental notes to keep up with you when you spiral into a hyper-manic, fanfic writer tangent.

He loves hearing all of it. And if you’re the kind of person that prefers physically writing something down to get the creative juices flowing before actually typing it into your next masterpiece of work, he’ll randomly buy you journals and so many pens you end up with a whole collection of them.

Little references from your fics get plucked out as inside jokes between the two of you. Whether it’s a phrase or an action, character behavior. It gets brought up between the two of you constantly.

And Dick is confused every single time he hears it.

Kory asks if that’s just a human thing, because it doesn’t make any sense??

Dick tells her it’s not a human thing, it’s the side effect of sharing one brain cell.

Which makes it funnier for Jason to incorporate more references that only the two of you understand into totally normal conversations.

He’s a total sucker for seasonal prompts. He doesn’t know what it is, but he never had a proper Christmas and Halloween is a nightmare when you’re a little kid, all alone on the streets of Crime Alley, so when the holidays roll around and you start writing fluffy pieces about carving pumpkins and baking cookies, rainy days curled up by the fire, he adores it.

You’d find him, burrowed under his blankets, head barely poking out in a mess of curly hair, scrolling through his phone. He wouldn’t tell you what he’s doing, but it becomes clear when he rolls over after several minutes and asks you to post a part two.

All in all, Jason is a menace, but he’s the most supportive best friend anyone can ask for and very easily converted into the worlds biggest fanboy for your writing exclusively. He actively reads your works, but doesn’t really stray to other fanfics, because it’s just not the same.

Duke Thomas or maybe jason todd

Okay, so initially I was planning on doing both, but I got carried away with Duke, because I never get to talk about him on here, so now you get to hear all of my pent up emotions. Enjoy! <3

I'm not going to lie, this one tripped me up a little bit, and after a lot of consideration, I've made up my mind. But I want to explain the thought process a little before I tell you what it is. Duke's main personality trait, in my opinion, is how insanely strong willed he actually is. And I mean that in a bigger sense than just his determination to fight. When the whole Robin War thing happened, he was the one to go up against a Rogue Damian Wayne, which... the idea of that is terrifying in itself lmao. As if Damian's not naturally feral enough, BUT baby boy Duke Thomas was fucking relentless until he was able to convince Damian to see reason and come with him.

He is often portrayed as the most laid back one out of all of them and I think a part of that is because he's more prone to following Bruce's instruction, because his training is still fresh compared to the rest of them, but he is a chaotic ball of sunshine. This is the kid that literally just jumped off a bridge to run from the police. The same one that actively decided (on more than one occasion) to go fuck up some criminals who haven't even had their coffee yet at the crack of dawn, because why not.

He's caring, enthusiastic, eager, passionate. Any synonym of any of those words, it's him and you can count on it. He continues to drive himself forward in a way that ignites his spark and he's so psyched to be doing it. He also gets left out of too many Batfam narratives, because he still has two living parents, but he cherishes his found family dearly.

And he has one up on every other member of the Batfamily. He is super direct and upfront about his feelings. I feel like he probably internalizes a lot from the people around him, but when it comes to what he's feeling at any given moment- if he's scared, having anxiety, or pissed off, he's not afraid to admit it. He knows what he's capable of, but he also knows his limits.

That being said, those fears aren't enough to pin him down or discourage him. He's going to keep going. He's going to keep fighting and falling and laughing and smiling along the way.

This is the really longwinded way of saying that no matter what kind of shit he gets himself into, he is the embodiment of 'just happy to be here' and that's why his song is On My Way from Brother Bear

Okay, I’ve thought a lot about this one. Don’t ask me why, but Stand Out from A Goofy Movie. Specifically the version tagged and I didn’t mean for this to turn into a headcanon post, but I wanna talk about it sooo let’s go

I firmly believe that he was a really quiet kid. He blended into the background and stayed on the sidelines, but when he did talk or make himself known, he was a people pleaser. But it wasn’t really him.

Unlike the rest of the infinity crew, skating wasn’t always his first outlet. It was botany.

Plants are unapologetically themselves and just exist. From every flower to every weed, whether it was poisonous or the most beautiful thing you’ve ever seen. They were just there.

And maybe little Hiromi wanted to be like that. To be himself and just exist without a care.

It still took a couple of years between wanting and doing, but that was exactly what he did. He spent that time quietly figuring out what he likes and growing into the person he wants to be.

When he was happy with himself, when he felt comfortable with who he was, that was when the makeup came along. He wasn’t a full on clown punk at first. Just some eyeliner. On days he was feeling really bold, he’d smoke out some eyeshadow.

It was when he got into skating and discovered S that he realized he could be anyone he wanted to be. When he was on that track, he had everyone’s undivided attention. Their praise, their cheers.

The Clown Punk of The S Community was born.

He’s loud and outspoken and he stands out and it’s everything he wanted to be after spending his early years making himself virtually invisible.

And yeah, maybe the makeup is a bit of a safety blanket. A persona that he hides behind, but he’s happy and he finds people to accept him as he is with or without the makeup.

Okay okay I’ve got one

Titans movie night

What would that be like?

Oh, there’s so much to unpack with this one. Titans movie nights are always eventful. The whole purpose of it is to catch up on a little r&r time, but it’s anything but that.

It takes an hour alone just to decide what take out they’re ordering. And then another hour after that arguing over pizza toppings

Hank is very adamant about pineapple and jalapeño

Rachel and Dick feel very strongly about why that’s disgusting

Gar doesn’t actually care as long as there’s no meat on it

Which sparks another heated debate between him and Hank about how a pizza needs meat that ends abruptly when Gar briefly distorts his face into tiger-like features. Hank doesn’t know what to say from there.

In the end, they each get their own individual pizza.

Pepperoni for Rachel, cheese for Gar, Chicago deep dish for Dick, the abominable pineapple and jalapeño for Hank, margarita pizza for Dawn, Kory is still figuring out what she likes so she manages to one up Hank with pickles and bacon.

Conner copies Gar because it seems like a safe option and Jason copies Dick, because obviously.

Once the pizza is squared away, the next argument ensues.

What they’re going to watch.

The choices rapid fire between sci-fi, horror, action, and Disney

Rachel wins by vote that gets everyone else outnumbered when she explains the entire premise of Lilo & Stitch to Conner and Kory. And Dawn would rather watch a Disney movie over Hellraiser or Mission Impossible.

Rachel exclusively watches cartoons and Dick doesn’t mind that much.

Jason gets hit in the back of the head several times when he complains.

Whether it comes from Dick or Kory, he can’t tell after awhile.

Hank falls asleep with Krypto, Conner and Kory both tear up by the end. Gar is just happy to be there.
