Chapter Forty-Six: Exposed
Tumblr media
As good vibrations washed over Minori’s inner storm like a soothing onshore breeze, happiness blossomed over her soul. She’s been working diligently on perfecting her Quirk and the impending doom of her mother’s re-debut since being threatened and confronted back in the mall. However, somehow along the way, the tenseness of her joints eased and relaxed as she welcomed a positive future in U.A.
“Minori~!” Denki greeted the curly-haired girl as soon as she entered class 1-A. His honey-glazed eyes widened as he pouted, resembling a whiny puppy.
“Yes?”
“Please defend me! Those jerks keep calling me an idiot!” He whines, pointing toward the two perpetrators, boredly watching their friend, a Pikachu cosplayer throw a petty and dramatic scene.
When Minori turned to face Mina, the pinkette shrugged and muttered, “I said what I said.”
Minori patted Denki on the back with a giggle. “Don’t worry, you’re not a complete idiot.”
Suddenly, the blonde sprang to his feet with confidence that seemingly came out of nowhere. He grins and says, “You think so? Well, I think you’re quite clever.” Denki raises his eyebrows at Minori and leans an arm on the wall next to him. “Let me take you on a date sometime.”
However, before she could reject his sudden offer, Bakugo’s chair screeched against the floor as he stomped over to where the two stood. Man-handling the collar of Denki’s uniform, Bakugo forces his flirtatious friend into a seat. “Sit the fuck down, dumbass,” he gritted.
Without sparing a moment of attention to the duo, Minori made her way to Mina’s seat before class started. “OMG, Minori! Your necklace, it’s so cute.”
“Oh.” Looking down at her exposed necklace, Minori hurriedly tried to hide the jewel inside of her shirt. Jewelry was against the U.A. dress code, and the last thing she wanted to do was keep such a wonderful gift encased in a box. “Thank you, Katsuki gave it to me,” Minori bashfully added, glancing at her boyfriend, who now sat back in his seat.
“What?!” Denki gasps theatrically. “Did he get that for you?” he asks, perplexed.
Bakugo gruffly answered, “Yes.” Then, with his eyes squinted, he asks, “Why are you so surprised?”
“No, because there’s no way you would’ve gotten her something nice for no reason,” Denki concludes, scratching his chin as he rattles off reasons why Bakugo would partake in a kind gesture. “You owe her, don’t you? Or she saw something embarrassing, and that necklace is hush money. WAIT! It’s because she knows your secret, huh?”
With wide sparkling eyes, Denki stares at Bakugo, trying to decipher his reaction. Other than the male’s typical menacing aura, Bakugo simply glared. Even so, Denki leaned back in his seat with confidence as he threw his arms at the back of his head. “I knew it. Mina must’ve told her. See? And you two called me dumb. Minori, don’t worry, I’ll buy you something way nicer and meaningful.”
“What?” Minori squints in confusion. “Denki, you’ve got it all wrong.”
“I don’t need you to get anything for MY girlfriend! Fuck off!” Bakugo barks, gathering the attention of the entire class’s attention. While Mina and Kirishima didn’t blink an eye, Minori was transfixed by the unwanted staring eyes of 20 individuals who stared on like deers in headlights.
Uraraka was the first to recover from the shocking news. “You two finally made it official?” But before either could answer, Denki interrupts.
“Finally? I thought you two had been dating this whole time,” he says, eyebrows furrowed.
“Wait, even though you thought we were dating, you still thought flirting with her was a good idea?” Bakugo growled, hands sparking.
Denki stood still like scared prey, standing only a couple of feet away from a wild beast. “No,” he lied, blinking carefully before gazing over at Minori, who just lifted her brows in his direction. “Respectfully, though.” But, before things could get out of hand, Aizawa appeared, dragging himself from his yellow sleeping bag and into class.
***
Hours passed without notice, and it looked as if Tatsumaki was slowly but steadily fading from Minori’s mind. Minori no longer trains in fear of her mother but rather to get closer to her goal of being a hero whom people can rely on, someone that the underappreciated can look up to.
Admittedly, recently Minori hasn’t been able to sleep as soundly as she used to. In fact, there’s a heaviness on her shoulders that she simply cannot explain. Every night, she laid awake staring at the ceiling of her bedroom, heart pounding beneath her ribcage with nerves. A knot sat at the pit of her stomach, unyielding, inexplicable.
Mina and Bakugo immediately picked up on Minori’s unusual change in behavior. She tried her hardest to assuage their fears by explaining that she was fine because, sincerely, there wasn’t anything that had been bothering her. But, nevertheless, the two didn’t believe her and forced her to spew out what was going on.
After their conversation, Bakugo and Minori settled into a routine. Every night, the two would cuddle in the common area while watching a movie until Minori fell into a peaceful deep slumber before Bakugo would drop her off in bed. However, tonight was different.
“Are you okay? What’s the matter?” Bakugo repeats, but Minori could only stare back at him. Raising herself in a seated position, she drops her head into her hands. As she recollected the day, she couldn’t remember anything that would trigger her to jolt awake. Was she even dreaming? She doesn’t know.
Minori finally muttered, “I don’t know. I don’t even remember what I was dreaming about.”
Baugo caressed her back gently, easing her ragged breathing. “Is it about your mom?”
“I--” removing her hands from her face, she looks at him, face scrunching. “I don’t know, maybe I’m anxious? I haven’t thought about her for so long now. It just doesn’t make sense.”
“All right, don’t think about it too much. Come on.” Bakugo, after assisting Minori to her feet, leads her to the kitchen and hands her a glass of milk without saying anything further. Bakugo had been going to bed later than normal since the two had begun their habit in the common room. Minori can easily see the little bags beneath his eyes, despite his best efforts to mask his sluggishness.
Her heart soars at his generosity. Bakugo has become a sort of anchor for Minori, like a calmness to soothe the raging flames of a consuming inferno into a steady heat that has raged within; nothing would be able to express how grateful she is to be with someone like him.
“Since you’re already awake and you’re not going to go to bed anytime soon, do you want to take a walk.”
She promptly shakes her head. “It’s alright, it’s way too late, and you should go to bed soon--”
“--shut up. Don’t worry about me. I can go to sleep whenever I want to. On the other hand, you can’t. I’m not asking this time; let’s go.” Pulling her along, Minori followed Bakugo out to the courtyard for a late-night stroll.
There was no need for either of them to speak. The comfortable silence allowed Minori the chance to clear her head and calm her nerves. There was nothing that logically made sense why she had been feeling like this for the past couple of weeks.
“Hey, guys!”
Pausing, Minori blinked in surprise. She hadn’t considered the possibility that someone else would be up at this hour. When they face the one who called out to them, they’re met with no one else but the imperceptible girl, Hagakure Toru.
“I was just thinking about you, Minori; do you mind if we talk?”
Suddenly, the knots within Minori’s stomach worsens as she clutches onto Bakugo’s hand.
“Now’s not a good time,” he says, taking a step in the opposite direction of the invisible girl, but Minori stops him.
“No, it’s fine,” she insists, trying to mask her discomfort with an aloof expression. “What’d you want to talk about?”
“Oh, I was hoping we could talk in private--”
“No,” Bakugo growls.
“Okay,” she drawls. “I always wanted to ask you this, but why were you so forgiving after the Sports Festival?”
Minori thought back to their fight when Hagakure damn near tried to kill her. At the time, Minori believed that this was something she deserved, something inevitable against those who blamed her. Yet, now she has a whole new perspective. “I thought being as nonconfrontational as possible would be the best solution since everyone had a vendetta against me. If I lied low with my head down, then the pain of everyone’s scrutiny would be easier to bear. The sins of the Hecate tragedy would be easier for everyone, but I was wrong. I’ve finally met people that I care about and who care about me, and they were able to show me that.” Glancing at Bakugo, she catches his crimson eyes staring back with admiration and pride, bringing a slight smile to her face.
Continuing, she says, “It’s disappointing if I’m honest, how long it took for me to realize that everyone who blamed and who still blames me is ignorant. The blood of those who’ve lost their lives does not belong to me. I don’t deserve their hatred. At the time, I believed your hatred was valid, it was the least I could do for your loss, but I’m not like that anymore. What you did-- how you treated me was wrong.” Minori seemed to be able to stand a little straighter as she finished.
Toru laughed, which surprised Minori because she anticipated their talk to end there. It wasn’t, though, her usual sweet laughter. Instead, it was malicious, foul, and condescending. “You know, after the sports festival, I truly thought I messed up. I’d gone too far and was doomed.”
“Fail? What the fuck are you talking about?” Bakugo demanded with narrowed eyes, pulling Minori close to him as he stood in front of her.
The invisible girl continued speaking instead of addressing his question, leaving the two befuddled. “It was just too easy. Everyone already hated you, and all I had to do was create some stupid ass sob story as an excuse.”
“The fuck?” Bakugo roared, grabbing onto the collar of Hagakure’s shirt and slamming her against the closest tree. “So, what? You decided to try, and fucking kill her because you thought you could, you stupid bitch?!”
Bored, Toru sighed, “No. That wasn’t part of the plan; if you actually listened, you would understand.”
“What are you talking about, Hagakure?” Minori inquired, her hands trembling. Everything was occurring too fast for Minori to understand mentally, but it appeared that the nerves in her body knew what her brain neurons couldn’t.
“Watch and see,” she sneered. Immediately a portal opened with familiar colors outlined in blue and purple, and at that moment, Minori’s heart plummeted to her feet as dread clouded her judgment.
Suddenly, Bakugo was pushed into the opening; his crimson orbs widened as Minori dashed forward to grab him.
“Katsuki!”

Chapter Forty-Five: Fate
Tumblr media
Stepping out from the elevator, the content duo freeze upon seeing a surprise guest waiting. Mina stood outside the elevator doors, a knowing smirk on her face. Minori's eyebrows shot up in surprise as she pondered how her best friend had gotten to the fourth floor before them.
“I wanted to check on you two, but since you two were in your own little worlds, I decided to run up the stairs,” Mina said, answering the silent question as her smirk slowly transforms into a cheshire cat smile, locking onto the two closeness. “But it appears that you two are just fine,” she sings. Flickering her amber eyes to meet Bakugo's, she asks the male, "finally made a move, huh?”
“I have no idea what you're talking about,” Bakugo growled, tightening his grip on Minori's hand as his softened eyes tensed and glowed with frustration when the pinkette looked at their interlocked hands. “Fuck off,” he spits, dragging Minori along with him to avoid the girl's curious taunts.
Mina gasps sarcastically. “Inviting her to your already, Bakugo? I think you’re moving a bit too fast now.”
Bakugo snatched his hand away from Minori's before jumping 10 feet away, a burning pink spreading across his ears as he felt a mixture of embarrassment and annoyance. His typical scowl morphed into a frown as his lips slightly jutted outwards, flipping the pink girl off.
Unperturbed by the banter, Minori giggled as a smile caressed her lips. As she watched the two, her body filled with warmth like the blooming of flowers on a spring day. She reflected on her first day at U.A., never expecting to make such wonderful friends or share feelings for someone. She assumed that she would spend the rest of her days in eternal darkness, without a glimmer of hope or happiness. Yet, she stands, endearingly watching those who have transformed her endless abyss of darkness into bright lights of the sun. She feels happy as their gentle rays slowly but steadily touch the chains of her heart, eventually melting away the rusted lock.
“Minori.” As Bakugo called out to her, she blinks away from her reverie and focuses her attention on the male. “Goodnight,” he says softly, his brows smoothing as he looks into her eyes.
“G’night,” she responds bashfully smiling. Mina, who was joyfully watching the two, was visibly moved by their touching exchange. Mina, as previously stated, is one of the most ardent supporters of Minori and Bakugo's relationship, but the girl has a knack for ruining the mood. The moment the pinkette squealed at the affection, Minori quickly turned the other way to her room as Bakugo forcefully tried to slam his door shut before Mina squeezed her way through, yelling that she had some things to talk about.
Minori awoke the next morning to a deafening knock on her door. She sluggishly pulls herself out of bed and opens the door, covering her mouth with a hand as she yawns out Bakugo's name, questioningly.
Said male strode into her room as if he owned it, both hands shoved into his pockets before settling into her desk chair. “Your friend has been over my shoulder since last night,” he exasperatedly sighed, languidly watching as Minori rubbed her eyes to wake up. As he gives her a once-over, the corner of his lips pulls upwards into a smirk and says, "you look like a hot mess."
She stared into his annoyingly handsome face with a deadpan expression. “I just woke up, asshat.”
“Wake up better next time,” he counters, leaning back into the seat.
“What?” she asks in disbelief.
He shrugs, dismissing the subject before suddenly standing up. “Be ready for 6pm.”
“Okay, are we training late today.”
“No, we’re going out.”
“Oh, okay. Where?”
Bakugo closes the gap between them, chuckling under his breath, and quickly pecks her on the forehead. “No, dumbass, we're going on a date, so be ready for six,” he says as he reaches for the bedroom door to exit.
Minori nods, too embarrassed to say anything in response to the sudden surprise of affection, only smiling to herself when she notices the sudden color washing over the tip of his ears.
As he opens the door, Bakugo scowls at the girl standing in front of him. Stomping away, Bakugo pushes past the person. Without a care, Mina struts into the room, an ecstatic smile elating her face. “Did I just hear a date?”
Furrowing her brows, Minori asked, “how did you--”
“--Don’t worry about it. Are you excited?” Mina interrupted, pulling Minori to sit with her on the bed.
“Yes,” she responded without hesitation. Surprisingly, there wasn’t an ounce of nerves coursing through her veins. A date with Bakugo just felt right, as if it were something natural. “But I still can’t wrap my head around how he’d want to be with someone like me,” Minori confesses.
“What are you talking about? Of course he’d want to be with you!”
Minori shrugs. “I mean, I’m still the daughter of Tatsumaki.”
“So?” Mina inquired rhetorically. “We don’t care. Bakugo doesn't care, and he never has. There’s nothing you need to worry about.” She waves dismissively before smirking. Minori watched closely as the sclera of her eyes twinkled with mischief. “Would you like to know what kind of blackmail I have on your boyfriend?”
Minori’s eyes widened as she gasped. “You’re finally going to tell me?”
“I think it’s about time for you to know. Besides, what’s he going to do? You two are dating now and it’ll help you feel better. So, okay. Do you remember after you and Bakugo were taken by the League of Villains you were going through a tough period and felt like you had to deal with it on your own?” Mina clasped her hands together as she collected her thoughts.
Minori cringed within herself as she remembered such an occurrence. Not only was that a terrible time for her, but she also felt awful for pushing everyone aside. “Yeah, I'm really sorry about that.”
“Don’t worry about it,” Mina reassured. “It’s completely understandable. Anyway, when I went to help you unpack that night, Bakugo was outside your door mumbling something under his breath. His hand was on you door, but he didn’t make a move to knock or open it.”
“Really?”
“Yes! So, of course, I confronted him about it because he was in my way and I had come to check on you in the first place. I asked if he was waiting you, and he said, ‘No, why the fuck would you ask me that?’ You already know how he is.” Minori nodded, patiently awaiting her friend's next words. “And I told him I saw him trying to knock on your door, and his dumbass really tried to deceive me by saying ‘I was walking to my room!’”
“No way!” Minori giggled as her shoulders shook.
“I’m being serious! But you know me, I wasn’t going to let him go that easily, so I told him, ‘You’re literally on the other side of the hallway.’ And you already know that when he is embarrassed, he lashes out and turns red. I shrugged and just walked into your room, leaving him out there, like the big baller I am.”
“But wait, there's more. He was still waiting when I left your room, leaning against the wall opposite your room door. He desperately wanted to check in on you but couldn't hype himself up enough to actually do it. So, as the wonderful friend that I am, I persuaded him to come in and talk to you since you two went through such a traumatic event together, and it only makes sense for you to talk to him about it.
“So, that’s what you had on him?”
“Yup! Just him being a big ol softy.”
Minori's lips twitched in response to Bakugo's actions. Her heart felt like it was beating a bit faster as she was even more excited to spend time with him later today.
As hours ticked by agonizingly slow, Minori finally heard a knock come from her door. Quickly standing in front of her mirror, she gives a once-over at her appearance. Adoring a simple blue spring dress and slip ons gifted by Mina, Minori felt satisfied with her appearance, especially her hair. Surprisingly, her curls decided to be on their best behavior and give perfection. Minori's white curls fell over her like a halo after the talented pinkette trimmed and styled her hair.
Minori stepped out, content, to find Bakugo scowling at her roommate. Following his line of sight, she notices Mina and Kirishima clearly peering out of the ajared door. Minori chuckles quietly to herself, shaking her head. “Hey, guys.”
The two slightly wave, but otherwise don’t speak a word as they anticipate Bakugo’s next move. “Here,” the ash-blonde male mumbles as he pushes an arrangement of flowers to Minori.
“Wow,” Minori exclaims, looking down at the bouquet of flowers, which included camellias, azaleas, and chrysanthemums. Looking into Bakugo's crimson eyes, she thanks him and watches as the corners of his eyes soften, only to tense up again when he realizes their two best friends are literally staring at them like creeps.
“Would you two stop staring?!” Bakugo growls.
Unbothered by his outburst, Mina exits her room and grabs the bouquet from Minori. “Go and enjoy your date, I’ll place these in a vase for you.”
“Wow, these are really nice, Bakubro! Do they have any meanings?”
“How should I know? Man, leave us alone.”
Minori laughs with a light heart. She feels fulfilled surrounded by those she loves and cares for, as if the final piece of a jigsaw puzzle has finally been discovered and can be used to complete the puzzle of her existence. Ignoring Bakugo’s outcry, she reaches for his hand and pulls him along. “All right, let’s go. I’ve been looking forward to our date all day,” she says, smiling at him.
Bakugo’s cheeks flush at her sudden bravado, but leads the way to their destination. There isn't a single awkward moment between the two as they walk; their small talk fills the wind with a lovely whisper, and it feels as if a flower blooms with each step they take. With their hands interlocked, Minori feels comforted. His slight gesture of squeezing down every once and a while reassures her that this isn’t a dream.
As they step closer to their destination, Minori acknowledges that they’ve walked to the park field they typically train in. This time, however, it is embellished with a blanket on the ground and a basket on top. “A picnic?” Minori Minori questions, her eyes twinkling.
“Last night, Mina wouldn't stop yacking my ear off and helped me prepare this.”
Minori's lips parted in a realizing 'o.' “So that's why followed after you.”
“Yeah,” Bakugo drawled, frowning as he recalls his memories of last night before sighing.
Minori shook her head before asking, “Did you prepare the food yourself?”
“Obviously, no one else makes food as good as me, and we’re here to eat the best.”
“Right, thank you for the food.”
The air around the two was electrified with affection as the events of the previous few days collectively decided the fate of the duo as they ate a variety of sandwiches, salads, and fruits. Being on a date with Bakugo nourished every part of Minori's being, from the laughs to the kisses to the sweet silent exchanges.
Minori played with Bakugo's fingers as the two lay together, staring at the starry night sky. She never imagined she'd be so comfortable and happy with someone that she'd be able to express herself freely. Turning her head to face Bakugo, she stares at his handsome side profile.
No one feature makes Bakugo particularly attractive, although the depth of his eyes come close. With near-perfect skin, a soft yet defined jaw, and a sharp nose, Minori is drawn in by the beauty of his eyes. His vermillion-red eyes are intense and honest, but when he comes across a pair of silver-grey orbs, his sharp eyes soften.
He is rash, impudent, and plagued by insecurities. But he’s reliable, dependable, and trust-worthy. He's admirable with his Quirk, not because of its grandeur, but because of the effort he puts in for himself every day to improve ever so slightly. He works hard and is determined to become Japan's number one hero. He’s someone that Minori can say with 100% certainty that she wouldn’t want to be with anyone other than him.
Bakugo faces a staring Minori, a corner of his lip lifting into a smirk as he feels her piercing stare.“Not only can you not keep your hands off of me, but you also can’t help but stare.”
She slaps his arms with laughter, recalling their previous banter from camp when they prepared curry together. She grabs his hands and squeezes them as she peers into his eyes. “Thank you for a wonderful date.”
They lean into each other like two opposite ends of a magnet. Bakugo takes hold of Minori’s chin, leading her to his lips for a soft and brief kiss. Everything he couldn't say verbally was explained by the pleasant pressure of his lips.
He pulls Minori along with him as he sits up. Reaching inside his pocket, he pulls out a small black box. “I was planning on giving you this earlier, but you know, your mom kind of showed up out of nowhere and ruined the mood.”
Minori's mouth dropped open in awe as she opened the box. The beautiful butterfly necklace from the mall fit perfectly within the box. “Katsuki,” she says quietly, surprised. Removing it from its packaging, Bakugo assists with chaining it around her neck. The jewel sat on her collarbone flawlessly.
Minori wraps her arms around his neck and pulls him in for a sweet passionate kiss, a million loving thoughts condensed in their embrace. Bakugo's hands find their way onto her hips as her hands dive into his hair. In that moment, underneath the starry night sky, their chemistry becomes an ever-bright flame.

Chapter Forty-Four: Mission Impossible
Tumblr media
Minori sighed as she placed her bag on the ground. Ever since she realized and admitted her feelings for Bakugo to Mina, she couldn’t catch a break from the overly enthusiastic girl. After being held captive in her best friend's room, the many confessional styles replayed in the back of her mind on repeat. Ranging from the typical angsty “i love you’s” on a rainy day to the “anonymous” love-notes. Despite enjoying the stories they’ve read and getting excited as the couples reached a happy ending in the mangas shared, Minori distinctly separated reality from fiction-- knowing damn well she could never re-enact those experiences no matter how Mina pushed her to.
For the past week as she trained, Mina stood over her shoulder in an obnoxious outfit that screamed she was here to meddle in some business. But as Mina likes to call it “a disguise to make sure everything goes as planned.” It’s important to mention though that nothing goes as planned because Minori was too embarrassed to even try to at least begin to confess to Bakugo. Meanwhile the pinkette continued to write in her “Sail or Sink” notebook that outlined every plan she thought. Starting from the simple pull Bakugo to the side and confess, all the way to the elaborate damsel in distress scheme. Overall, Mina soon started to resemble Midoriya’s over studious actions about the various types of Quirks.
Today, however, Mina wasn’t in sight, allowing Minori to exhale a breath of relief as she could focus entirely on training without over anticipating what to do, or more importantly, what Mina would do. Therefore as the ash-blonde readied his stance and Minori followed, the two begin with an intense urge to win.
Sweat drips down her back as Bakugo blasts off another explosion from his Quirk. Sidestepping, Minori evades the rough blow aimed for her side. Shooting off a compressed force of air from her hands but Bakugo dodges by jumping backwards and uses his Quirk to create a sphere of light that mimics a stun grenade.
Although the move was intended to freeze Minori, forcing her to switch more to defensive attacks, she instead squinted her eyes as she followed the tighter molecules surrounding her to find where Bakugo was hiding. Surprising him, she throws a bunch at him, striking him in the chest. Yet, as she moves to throw another bunch directed for his face, he catches her wrist and moves to her over his shoulder.
However, she disrupts Bakugo’s momentum by forcefully pulling her arm closer to herself while releasing her heels at the same time to fling her entire body weight at him. The back of Bakugo’s head thumps against the grassy surface while Minori topples over, landing on top, and successfully countering.
When Bakugo opens his eyes, the sight above him has the blonde faltering. Minori looked down with sparkling eyes and a glowing face, smiling that she finally was able to gain the upper-hand while fighting against Bakugo. In reaction, the corners of his mouth slightly tugged upwards in a dazed smile. Minori’s stomach fluttered with butterflies as she struggled to breathe, still, in her flustered state she picked up on Bakugo’s unusual behavior. She expected him to huff at her or throw her off and neither happened, therefore she immediately believed that Bakugo was having some sort of internal bleeding and losing his mind.
As her smile faltered, her eyes tensed with concern. “Katsuki, are you okay?” she asks, placing her hands on the sides of his face to check for any external wounds. “Are you dizzy?”
“What the fuck? I’m fine,” he asserted in a dominant yet comforting tone, reassuring her that he was, in fact, okay. Bakugo isn’t one to bask in pity and he sure as hell strays far from those who try to help him, but when it comes to those he considers dear to his heart like his friends, he’ll try to comfort them in his unique way. “Your weak ass punch couldn’t do anything even if you tried.”
“Are you sure? You fell pretty hard,” the girl insisted as she continued looking him over.
“Don’t insult me,” he mumbled, pouting as the tip of his ears turned the slightest shade of pink. Ignoring him, Minori places her hand atop of his forehead to see as if his body would show sudden signs of a fever. “And stop touching me,” he adds, the pink growing darker as he grabs her wrist to stop her movements and sits up.
Consequently, Minori’s eyes widened in shock as the pair froze from the sudden lack of space between the two. If Minori was thinking clearly she would’ve immediately thrown herself backwards and out his grasp, instead she didn’t move a muscle. His gleaming crimson orbs peered into her grey ones, and with a distance close to none, his features were much more striking, especially his lips.
Minori’s gaze flickered from his eyes and zeroed onto his soft yet slightly chapped lips. As the air cracked with tension, her lungs struggled to breathe as her heart began to beat erratically, feeling as though it may burst. When she languidly tore her gaze back to Bakugo’s eyes, she almost jolted as his eyes darkened in color.
There was this sudden formidable force that struck through the pair, pulling them closer like magnets. Like souls sparking and reaching out for another to bask in warmth, sincerity, and passion. With only inches apart, Minori felt the hand around her wrist tighten in anticipation, moving to close the gap.
“Bakubro! Minori!”
From a distance, the pair could hear the cheery voice of Kirishima and Mina making their way to them.
Blinking open her eyes sharply, Minori scattered away from the blonde, breathing heavily as her stomach rendered her a human butterfly. Grabbing her bag and gulping down a bottle of water, she tapped her fingers against her now empty bottle, impatiently waiting for her classmates to finally get here and interrupt the intoxicating tension.
“Guys! We’re going to the aquarium, so get your sweaty asses in the showers so we can have some fun!” Mina announced, excited with a beaming smile. As Minori blinked at her supposed wingman and number one supporter, she couldn’t help but think how absolutely worse timing she has.
“We’re all leaving in about two hours, so you have plenty of time to get ready,” Kirishima added joyously.
“AND YOU GUYS COULDN’T FUCKING WAIT UNTIL WE GOT BACK TO TELL US THIS?” Bakugo barked, agitation evident through his taught jaw.
“We thought it’d be a nice change of pace. You two are normally out here all day, and if we waited for you to come in, it’d already be too late,” Kirishima explained with an awkward smile, picking up on how angry his closest friend looks.
“It could’ve waited,” Bakugo grumbled, looking toward Minori. At the eye-contact, her thoughts quickly turned back to how just a couple of seconds ago they nearly kissed. Just inches away she would’ve kissed him, and he would’ve kissed her. Uttering a quick “I’ll go get ready” she sharply turns away from Bakugo’s sharp and mesmerizing eyes before nearly sprinting back to the dorms.
***
All of class 1-A agreed to spend the day at the aquarium and Minori couldn’t help but agree how necessary a change of pace was needed. For nearly a month now, all Minori had been thinking about was preparing herself to face the evil of her mother, and just recently, dealing with her crush. But as she walked down the serene halls, enjoying the various types of sea creatures, she was at peace as she allowed nothing to trouble her mind. Pulse, since the incident earlier, Bakugo and Minori haven’t been in each other's presence nor have even made eye contact.
If Minori dwelled on it too much, she would absolutely be bothered by the sudden distance, but she also acknowledges the fact that she would be way too nervous around him to even utter a single word. Thus, avoidance is a win-win situation for them both, at least that’s what she thinks.
Watching the large jelly-fish swim around in their tanks, Mina breaks her from her reverie, announcing that everyone is going to go watch the seal show that’ll be starting in about 15 minutes, so they need to grab their seats and food. Offering to assist with the food and drinks, Minori makes her way to the concession stands along with Mezo. With his helpful Quirk of Dupli-Arms, he is on food duty while Minori is to order and grab the drinks.
As she began piling the drinks in her arms, someone harshly bumped into her, causing her to drop the bottles in hand. Scowling, she turns to glare at whomever pushed her, only to find a random greanette with a sneering smirk. “Ew, I can’t believe they’d allow a criminal in here,” the girl nagged, looking back at her two friends. “My mom was part of the clean up crew for Hecate and she always told me that villainy was a cycle. Isn’t that right, Tatsumaki?” the girl asked Minori condescendingly, before dramatically gasping with feign realization, “oh my bad, that isn’t your name, is it?”
Here we go again, she thought to herself while blankly staring at the mean girls clique. Since her conversation with Bakugo about her part in the Hecate tragedy, she realized that the hate she’s faced is uncalled for and not something she should have to handle just because she was born from a horrible human being.
Rolling her eyes at the trio, she mindlessly begins picking up the drinks she dropped. “You obviously already knew that otherwise you wouldn't have made such a dramatic scene,” she said, bored. “Unless, you’re actually an idiot?” she finishes, raising a brow.
As the girl scoffs, offended, she continues in a snotty tone. “Well, no matter what you say just know that when you go berserk and run loose like your mother, know that I’ll be the one to put you down.”
Minori simply stares at the girl with her brows furrowed in utter confusion. First of all, who is this chick and why can’t she mind her business? Secondly, “put you down,” what is she a dog?
“Oh fuck off you buck tooth bitch,” Bakugo growls as small sparks go off from his hands.
As Minori faces the direction of her voice, she calls out to him, “Katsuki? What are you doing here?” It’s not like she’s mad about him making an entrance and scaring the group of girls away, but she doesn’t think her heart can handle anymore surprises.
Ignoring her question, Bakugo stomps toward her with narrowed eyes. “What the fuck have I told you about letting these extras walk all over?”
“Oh,” she mumbles, coming to stand once she has all the drinks in her arms. “Don’t worry about it, there’s no point in arguing with them.”
“You idiot. They’re going to keep treating you like trash, if you let them. They can think what they want and say whatever the fuck they please, but that doesn’t mean they’re free from getting their asses whooped.
“Well I face more consequences than the average human, so it’s better to be the bigger person,” she shrugs.
“Being the bigger person sounds a lot like accepting disrespect,” Bakugo grumbles as he snatches some drinks from her arms, equally splitting the amount she’s holding and how much he’s holding. Minori exhales a giggle at his words and smiles slightly.
“By the way, you never answered my question. What are you doing out here? I thought you were with the rest of them holding our seats,” she asked as the two of them walked back to the auditorium before the show started.
“I was on my way to the bathroom when I saw your dumbass being harassed and not doing anything. And now that I’m here, I might as well help your ass before you take any longer.”
Soon enough, the two made their way back to their classmates without a problem. As they sat down to enjoy the show, Minori realized that there was no awkwardness between the two and she can’t figure out whether she appreciates how what happened earlier that day was easily forgotten or hates it.
Many hours later, the class arrives back in the dorms. Currently, the girls and a couple of guys are seated in the common room while Kirishima, Todoroki, Midoriya, and Bakugo (begrudgingly) helps Sato bring down some cakes to finish the night.
A very light and fun conversation quickly turned sour at Hagakure’s sudden change of subject. “Hey, do you all remember what Tsuyu said the first week of school about Bakugo? Like why he wouldn’t become a good hero because of his attitude?”
“Uh, yeah, why?” Jirou asks, popping one of her earbuds out. Minori, who was currently seated beside Mina, shared a glance with one another, anticipating what the invisible girl would say next.
“I saw Bakugo yelling at a group of girls for no reason when we were at the aquarium. He even activated his Quirk to scare them off. It’s concerning, if he doesn’t change his behavior he’s never be high in popularity polls as a pro. Right, Ki?”
“What?” she spits, frowning.
“You were there--”
“-- I know I was there. That’s why I can’t seem to wrap my head around your ‘concern,’” she says, putting her air quotes around concern. “Where were you and how’d you see that?”
“I had to use the bathroom.”
“From Ki’s reaction and what Hagakure witnessed, they both go to show that I wasn’t wrong. Ribbit. It doesn’t matter what those girls said or did, but if Bakugo reacted in such a way it was probably something extremely minor. His immature attitude will get him nowhere, and sometimes it’s better to be the bigger person.”
At every word uttered, Minori grew more and more angry like thunderous clouds slowly growing and darkening from a stark white to a harsh grey. “Shut. Up,” Minori warned, her voice tuft and rigid. “What is with you two? You don’t even know the whole story, but immediately made assumptions on what the hell happened and judging him. And for what, yelling?” Minori shouts, standing up as she narrows her eyes. “Hagakure if you saw the whole damn interaction like some weird creepy stalker, then why didn’t you explain the whole story? I was being harassed, again, and Bakugo stood up for me. And Tsuyu, oh my god, please stop talking out of your ass. You’re extremely judgemental determining whether or not we’ll be able to become hero’s based on your opinion, like there aren’t billions of other people on this earth. Judge yourself for once in your life instead of everyone else, and maybe you’ll finally realize how much of a bitch you are.”
“Minori--”
“I’m not done,” she said, clenching her jaw. “You came to apologize to me after the sports festival for making assumptions about me and judging my origins, then you turn your heads and do the same to Bakugo. You should be ashamed of yourselves, and on top of that, take your heads out of your asses and acknowledge the fact that you two are hypocrites.” Squeezing her eyes shut, Minori breathes out a breath of air from her nose slowly to soothe her anger. Turning around to spend the rest of the night in her room, her whole mood ruined, she pauses mid-step to find Bakugo. His face is tense with the usual crease at his brow, but his red eyes stared into her grey ones in utter awe.
“Oh, B-Bakugo.”
“Fuck off, round face.” Grabbing onto Minori’s wrist, he pulls her away from the peering eyes of their classmates and to the elevator to reach their floor.
Scratching her head, Minori brushes her bangs from her eyes as she opens her mouth to speak. “I know you don’t need me to defend you since you can do it perfectly fine yourself, but they were just so aggravating. They didn’t even know what they were talking about--”
Minori paused as Bakugo closed the distance between the two, painfully aware of the close proximity. But before she could question his actions, his large hands delicately grabbed the sides of her face, lifting her head to meet his.
Minori didn’t know if time stopped when their lips touched or if she finally passed out from the lack of oxygen to her lungs and is currently in a dream-like state, but the flutter of her heart only intensified. Slowly her widened eyes began to close as she focused on how soft he felt against her mouth, addictively invading all her senses.
His movements were slow and gentle, washing over her like a wave of warmth, unfurling all her senses as his touch nearly silenced all thoughts. Although the warm feeling of his breath was destabilizing, at the same time it was inviting, patiently waiting to meet Minori’s quivering lips.
Shakily, Minori pulls back from the kiss to catch her breath. The warmth she felt all around her could alight a forest on fire just as easily as Bakugo’s Quirk. “Are you okay?” He gently asked as Minori tucked herself underneath his chin as they hugged. Nodding in response, she felt his arms tighten around her in reassurance before hearing him mumble, “this would’ve happened way sooner if it wasn’t for those dumbasses, Shitty Hair and Raccoon Eyes.”
Minori let out a giddy laugh at his confession. Her heart was still pounding and her lips were pulsed from his kisses. And as the elevator doors opened to their floor, new experiences and unexpected paths were born.

A/N: Hey baddies, I just want to apologize for getting this chapter out later than I said. It’s currently 1am and I said I’d post the 18th, but now it’s the 19th :/ Honestly, I was very insecure writing this because of the big ole smooch scene! I wanted to grasp everything perfectly and I hope I did it justice! I always had this scene in my notes since the beginning and now that it’s finally happened... I just hope you all like it >.<
