Lazing around while Lu Guang does all the work!” She snapped as she glanced over her shoulder at the white-haired boy who was going through the account book to tally the week’s business. “The studio has closed and it’s Friday,” Cheng Xiaoshi put down his phone and looked at her pointedly. “So technically, you’re not my boss right now,” he smirked as he stood up and towered over her smugly. “You!” Qiao Ling punched him in the chest before spinning around and walking to Lu Guang, ignoring the exaggerated theatrics of Cheng Xiaoshi as he clutched his chest. “Qiao Ling-jie,” Lu Guang greeted her simply, closing the thick book and putting it back in its place under the counter. “I can’t believe you’re the younger one, Guang-Guang!” Qiao Ling rolled her eyes before smiling at Lu Guang sweetly. “Pffft!” Cheng Xiaoshi cackled and joined her at the counter, leaning forward and gazing at Lu Guang cheekily. “Guang-Guang!” He cooed and reached out for the boy’s cheek with one finger. “Idiot,” Lu Guang caught Cheng Xiaoshi’s finger before it could poke his cheek, his expression still impassive and unfazed, long used to his friend slash business partner slash roommate’s antics. “Actually,” Qiao Ling ignored Cheng Xiaoshi and went on, “Shanshan had a request…maybe a potential client,” she pulled out her phone and opened the chat with her college friend. “Dong Yi and her are trying to help their grad school friends…these two guys…” she scrolled up the chat, “I forget their name…but one of them confided in Shanshan about his crush on the other guy and thinks he-”

Given the way the child always returned to the black-robed man and clung to him without ceremony or decorum, Meifen concluded that they were related. Perhaps the angelic blue-robed man was a visitor; he was most certainly not from anywhere nearby. Just as she had thought and hoped, the black-robed man gestured to her inn and his companion nodded after some hesitation. With a triumphant smile, Meifen glanced at the server who nodded quickly, grabbing his small booklet to welcome the customers and take their orders. She watched silently, utterly intrigued by the odd trio, and tried to gauge their relationship. Both men were too handsome to be regular village folk. While the blue-robed man was unquestionably from a large, well-to-do, reputable clan, the man with the red ribbon had a very imposing aura and an extraordinary presence.

Li Huan could look like an earnest puppy, a kicked puppy, a love sick puppy, an adorable puppy. And the problem was — he actually was all those things. Yu Yang knew that none of it was an act. He also knew that it was an honest mistake. “No!” Yu Yang shook his head and caught himself just in time before he turned soft for Li Huan. “Yu Yang,” Li Huan stopped barely two feet from Yu Yang and reached for both his hands, “I apologize for my forgetfulness,” he looked down and let out a subtle exhale. “Hmpf,” Yu Yang huffed and looked away haughtily. “You can't just say sorry for everything.”

Chu Wanning couldn’t help but smile when the finally pulled apart again, thumbing at Mo Ran’s glistening lips to wipe the lingering wetness. He cleared his throat and shoved Mo Ran back before adjusting his own robes and hair. “Let’s go,” Chu Wanning gave Mo Ran a pointed look, reaching for his disciple’s robes and straightening the collar. He cried out as the wind picked up and swirled around him, blinding him unexpectedly. He heard a distant hiss that turned into a sharp whiz as if a plane was flying by. He turned around abruptly and looked up, alarmed when he saw a giant object hurtling towards him at full speed. Before he knew what he was doing, he unsheathed a sword that was hanging from his waist and raised his arms, slashing through the heavy metal, splitting the object into two, a painful buzzing sound piercing his ears, making him wince and recoil. As the two halves zoomed past him on either side, he felt the full force of the aftershock. His body fell back and he landed on the ground ass-first with a thud before his vision blurred and the world around him spun faster and faster until everything went dark.
