Songfic Week Day 7 - Love

Based off of “Somebody to You” by the Vamps. Boggie. 2.1k. Rated G.

Applause drowns out the last ringing note of his guitar. A smile stretches across his face as he opens his eyes to the mass of grinning listeners. He chuckles into the mic and the sound catches in the corners of the stuffy room.

 “Thank you!” Bobby says, followed by another chuckle, which makes his audience laugh with him. “You’re too kind.” He winks at a woman in the front row of tables and she turns away, whispering to her friends.

 He steps back from the mic and takes his electric guitar off, placing it in its stand at the edge of the stage. He takes the acoustic guitar next to it and slings it over his shoulder, adjusting its position and playing a random chord. When he’s satisfied with how it settles down over the heads of the people below him he smiles again and steps back behind the mic.

 “Okay,” he starts, stretching the word until it gets somewhat quiet in the audience. “I am quite sorry to announce that this will be the last song for tonight.” He allows a round of aws before he continues speaking. “Yes, I agree, I’m sad too.” Now a chuckle. “But if you’re not sick of me yet, you can find me here every Sunday evening from 8 to 10. Grab some friends, grab some drinks and enjoy the show.”

 He turns back for a second, grabbing the barstool always ready at the back of the stage, and pulls it towards him behind the mic. He sits down, adjusting the height of the microphone.

 “This song is not an original song, I know, but I promise you’ll enjoy it. This is for everyone who has ever –” he pauses, taking a look around the room until his eyes catch on what he is looking for, “admired someone. From afar.” He clears his throat. “Somebody to You by the Vamps.”

this is one of my many worldbuilding monsters so i knew there was no way i was going to have it written in time for @jatpsongficweek​, but when this song came out one of my first thoughts was *sigh* you’re going to do something with this, aren’t you? so then i started conceptualizing a willex angel au, because usually when things happen i try to shove them onto willex. i was going to write a summary idea for it, but everything kinda went to shit by the end of september and now i have a horrible, horrible dry spell so all i have to offer is a moodboard as a form of concept art but i think it looks pretty sick.

“I thought you promised to behave if I let your crew live,” he murmurs. His voice is quiet but holds a distinct air of authority and it rankles against Julie’s skin. 

“You should know better than to trust a pirate." 

He laughs once, short and sharp. Julie presses the knife closer to his neck in surprise but, much to her annoyance, he remains completely relaxed. She can feel the strength of his broad frame as she presses him back against the wood but his muscles are loose. He is allowing her to manhandle him; to threaten his life. 

Julie narrows her eyes and returns his glare. 

"What’s the plan here, sweetheart?”

When Luke had refused to hurt someone that owed Caleb money, Reggie had been sent into a drug deal alone. He’d stumbled home with a broken nose and three cracked ribs.

When Luke had disrespected Caleb in front of the rest of the gang, Alex’s family had been told about their son’s homosexuality. As a consequence, Alex had found himself homeless and drawn more closely into Covington’s web.

When Luke had been especially reckless, pressing his knife to Caleb’s neck during a private meeting in his boss’ office, Bobby had been sent to settle an argument between Covington’s gang and The Phantoms, the club’s closest rivals. Luke and Reggie had dragged him out with a bullet in his back, a shattered kneecap, and a whispered plea on his bloodied lips.

Luke had finally caught on: if he falls out of line, his friends get hurt.

Summary:

In another world, Alex meets Willie when the band commissions an artist. And, well, Alex never thought he could fall in love with someone online, but it seems he was wrong. Yet, distance keeps them apart even as they grow closer.
