Hi, if you don’t mind me asking, how exactly is kyman not a proship? Like, it’s shipping a jewish person with a n@tzi/antisemite. I’m not accusing you of shipping for that reason, but it’s hard to look at that ship as anything else. Also I’m genuinely curious, but what is the general appeal of the ship to kyman shippers anyways? Like I don’t really ship any of the sp characters anyway, but I can understand why many ship style, bunny etc because those characters do actually have moments and interactions in the show where they are caring for each other or bonding together which can be interpreted as them liking each other. Cartman is constantly ridiculing Kyle for his heritage on a daily basis, humiliating him, attempting to kill him at certain points, I mean basically just making his life a misery. I’ve seen some examples a few Kyman shippers have tried to use to as Kyle and Cartman liking each other, but they normally don’t make sense as within the context of those examples it’s clear that those reasons are anything but that. However, one episode that really makes me question it is Ginger Cow, like after everything Cartman put Kyle through in that episode, I just can’t understand how it could be shipped after that ( there are other later episodes that also make me question this, but the shit Kyle went through and was treated because of Cartman makes me feel so sorry for him and I can’t see any reason to how people can ship them after it). I hope you know when I’m saying and asking you all of this, I mean absolutely no judgment. These are simply reasons why I can’t ship it or understand why people ship it, but I’m interested to know why some people do and if there are reasons besides mine or that debunk some of what I’ve said.

Anyways, now to answer your question. The n*zi thing is obviously the biggest glaring issue in this and I do agree that it’s a problem, kyman is by no means perfect. However I would also like to point out that cartman was a child, and this really depends on how you view kyman and this can vary from person to person but I feel like over time cartman has grown to mature over his antisemitism, hell he even went from someone who liked h/tler to someone who thinks he was awful. I feel like this all depends on how you view it and how much you the viewer are willing to forgive him for past actions. Additionally, I don’t actually think cartman hates jewish people. This is just a theoryyy and by no means confirmed but I think that the main reason cartman makes fun of jewish people is to get a rise out of kyle (eg: Smug Alert!). cartman has been shown to literally make fun of butters for being jewish despite butters not in any way being jewish. I feel like intention really matters i dont think that cartmans hatred for pretty much any group of people (except maybe hippies) is actually stemmed from actual discriminatory hatred, hell some of the worst his racism gets is stereotyping. Which is still a form of racism but it’s also something to consider. Cartman has said himself he doesn’t hate people of color, he hates hippies. Now do I think just because he doesnt hate minorities that doesnt make him racist?? no, absolutely not, hes still a fat intolerant racist fuck. Again, kyman is NOT healthy by any means, it is extremely toxic.

Many antis, and even some kymannies claim that kyman is abusive, however i have a lot of points to counter this. I firmly believe that abuse requires a power imbalance, which I dont think kyman has. Many people claim that cartman is the main problem but.. no?? kyle is also toxic and mean as hell to cartman, now ill admit its a bit more justified and hes not as sinister as cartman but i dont think its enough so to create a power imbalance. I think that theyre mutually toxic and i also think they thrive off of that. now again, and i know im repeating myself but i need to make this clear. just because its not abusive doesnt make it okay or healthy.

Now that I’ve admitted that its got its problems and such, on to your next question… why do i like it if its so bad? This ones both an easy answer and extremely long.

The first thing I’d like to talk about is that I find it extremely interesting to take characters that HAVENT shown any romantic or caring feelings towards eachother and put them together because it can make an extremely interesting story. I read more 50k+ fics than one shots n such and I feel like I’ve found kyman fics to be the most interesting because yeah, they do hate each other. This creates a huge block for the author to find their way around and usually they find some really interesting ways to do it. I’m definitely in preference for the “oh fuck wait do i like them?! of all people, fuck” trope than cute friends to lovers. My favorite ship of all time is actually shin soukoku from bsd for the same reasons :). I’ve always found enemies to ???? to lovers more interesting than anything. Not because I particularly like the relationship but I like the story behind it and knowing that they had to go through so much to get there. Having little canon care for each other is essentially a blank slate, meaning that the author can do pretty much whatever they want to get them to like each other without even needing an au.

Anyways, there are actually many reasons from canon that I have for liking them so much. The first and main reason is that they have a back and forth dynamic i feel like they both thrive off of. Cartman loves getting attention from kyle and I feel like kyle with his chronic savior complex gets something out of having someone he can shit on for being a horrible person. He keep talking about how they should stop hanging out with cartman but.. he never actively does anything about it. The only time he really did was during fatbeard and that is something but you’d think that if he hated him so much he wouldn’t sit with him at lunch and still hang out with him regularly.

The main episode that made me like kyman was crack baby athletic association. It didn’t start out great but I also think that it shows that they can get along. Now this doesn’t happen often but It’s an interesting point that it’s possible. There are plenty of episodes that have made me like it (crack baby athletic association, into the panderverse, le petit tourette, jewpacabra, smug alert, cartman finds love, tonsil trouble,) and there are plenty of episodes that have made me dislike it (passion of the jew, ginger cow, cartman finds love, tonsil trouble, imaginationland, etc)

However I don’t think that they.. completely hate eachother? You mentioned how many kymannies use parts of the show as evidence that aren’t really that good at making a point. So here some of my own moments that I think display at least some form of care.

In kenny dies, kyle is willing to hold cartman, now I know this was primarily manipulation on cartmans part, but I think its also good to note how kyle reacted to this situation. He hates cartman more than anyone and when he cried he held him, now im sure kyle would do this for almost anyone but its especially interesting when its someone he hates. He had enough care that he would be willing to show a sense of vulnerability in return.

Also, cartman has told kyle he loves him twice according to my knowledge. One of the times was genuine. In le petit tourette after kyle tries to sabotage cartman’s event but it backfires because cartman was scared of it and he unintentionally saved him. What i find really interesting isn’t kyle saving him because that has nothing behind it, but instead how cartman reacted. He grabs on to kyle and tells him he loves him. “You must, really care about me” I know that this moment doesnt last long but it’s still worth mentioning because I fully believe it’s genuine. Cartman has absolutely no reason to lie here, hes vulnerable and scared.

Pretty much the entirety of the faith hilling episode, they have something in common and they work together. It really showcases that even if they hate eachother theyre still, something. As said in the casa bonita episode “We’ve been through a lot together, and I know that might not make us friends but it makes us something” and I am aware that this is just a manipulation tactic but I think it also is a good point. They might not be friends but they are something, there is something there beyond just hate. They can get along, and they do tend to stick together through all of the drama that happens throughout the show and it’s nice to know that thats there.

So essentially think of ships that already have moments together as sprouts, all they need is a little more care to bloom. However Kyman and other ships with only some moments like those are more like seeds. The creator needs to add more for it to grow like the others. I found that the way that they do that is very interesting because there isn’t a set way that they learn to get along.

Addionally yes ginger cow sucked ass and thats a perfectly good reason to hate the ship, this is just why i choose to anyway.

hai guys i dont really care if you like kyman or not but PLEASE don’t harass me or anyone else who likes it over it. the back button is right there and hell you could even block me. if you want to honestly debate id be cool w that but like dude yea i know its toxic as hell, I’d definitely say the tumblr community is MUCH calmer than the tt/twitter community on this topic but honestly i feel like a lot of people just pull out reasons from their ass to hate on it and refuse to have an open mind and actually listen to people. I would know because I used to be a kyman hater myself who refused to listen to reason, additionally I was really scared of openly being a kymannie because of the hatred around it in the community. Most of us here are adults or at the very least older teenagers from what I’ve seen and I think that’s the key difference as to why this place is a lot calmer than other places.

I honestly think that if antis actually like, weren’t so scared of being a kymannie they might actually listen to reason. now please note that this post is NOT to try and convince you to like kyman but its instead to try and convince you to not be a little bitch about it online if you dislike it. a lot of people forget that there is someone behind the screen and do you really need to make someone’s day worse over ship preferences ffs?? I honestly don’t get the big deal around shipping in communities and how much it’s hated on, sure I have ships i like and dislike but honestly i dont care what you like. Shipping drama is way too huge in communities and maybe this is just because im aroace but really it’s about how interesting of a story it is for me. I dont care if it’s healthy or not I just want it to be interesting. The only ships i really dislike are for trauma reasons. I’m not a proshipper nor do I support proshipping online, and I am a firm believer that kyman is not proship, but I do think that severe harrassment over ships EVEN proships isn’t a good thing. the block button is right there, just because you dont like something or support it doesnt mean you have to tell someone to off themselves. getting into petty internet arguments over which construction paper kids you think should be in a relationship is just immature.

also yes ) i know im being a little hater about people that are being haters but im sick of it and it affects people. also i dont harass people if they hate on kyman because its not worth my time
