“You can fly! You can fly! You can fly!”

Hey everyone! Here’s the Peter Pan post that I promised.  This is definitely one of my favorite moments in the movie.  I actually made this drawing for a friend who requested a drawing of Peter Pan flying.  Naturally, I thought this was the perfect scene to draw, little did I know how tedious it was going to be.  But I’m glad I was able to stick it out through all of the really tiny facial features.  And my friend absolutely loved it which is all that matters anyway.  Have a good week everyone :)

Hey everyone! I’ve missed you guys a lot! I know I haven’t uploaded in a while but I recently made this drawing and a Peter Pan drawing for some very special friends, so I will post the Peter Pan one next week.  I hope you guys like this Ariel piece and that your school semesters are going well, and if you’re stressed, just take a break, get some wine, get some chocolate, and watch a Disney movie :) See you next week everybody!

“Ladies don't start fights, but they can finish them”

In light of recent events here in America and in honor of all the women marching across the country today I thought that this was the perfect quote and character to use today.  Despite being such a young character, Marie is great example of how you can be feminine and girly, but be strong and sassy at the same time, which is also something that we should be learning to embrace in society today.  Just because you want to be seen as strong and independent does not mean you have to give up pink bows and other “girly” aspects of your life that you enjoy.  She’s also got two brothers and she takes pride in being the only girl, and her come-backs are so sassy she just needs to say one line and she has won the argument.  I’m not much of a cat person (in fact I’m allergic) but if I were to ever own a cat I would want her to be just like Marie.  To all the ladies out there, I encourage you to stand up for your rights, don’t take shit from anybody, and stand together and rule the world!  To all the women marching today and standing up for your rights I salute you!

A work in progress photo of the art that should have been posted weeks ago.  I’m so sorry I wasn't able to keep up with the schedule.  I’ve been extremely busy with school, and rehearsals, and on top of that I was commissioned to make a choreographer gift for another show that opened this month at my school so I kind of had to put Disney art on hold for a bit.  That being said I will still post all of the characters I was planning on posting throughout the month even though we’re in November.  I’m sorry if anyone was disappointed but as we all know sometimes life just gets in the way and theres nothing you can do.  Stay tuned for more art and I will try to stay on schedule as best as I can.  I hope everyone had a great Halloween!

Hello everyone and welcome to October! Which also means that this month is going to be Halloween themed and will consist of Disney Villains all month.  So to kick off October lets start with Gaston form Beauty and the Beast.  I’ve actually had this drawing for a while because I made it for a friends birthday (who played Gaston in a production of Beauty and the Beast), and I’ve been wanting to post it on this blog but I’ve been putting in off because I couldn't think of anything to say.  The whole premise of this blog besides the artwork is for me to talk about why I love the characters, and to be honest, I really don't like Gaston and there aren't many good things you can say about him, and the last time I posted a drawing with Gaston in it I completely bashed him.  But after a lot, and I mean A LOT of thinking I have been able to come up with something.  Gaston is incredibly driven and is good at what he does.  When Gaston puts his mind to something he goes out and he does it.  That being said.......what he tries to accomplish in the movie is not admirable buy any means and he should take that motivation and put it to other things that don't have to do with trying force people to marry you by trying to put their father in an an insane asylum because they're pretty and you want a trophy wife.  Anyways, don't forget to send me your requests if you want to see any particular villain in the month of October!  Happy almost Halloween everybody!

Alright everybody! Dumbo is finally here! Sorry this took such a long time (who knew working at a fro-yo shop would be so time consuming).  Anyway lets talk about the cutest animated elephant ever! Now one of things I love most about Dumbo is that the story teaches you that it’s ok to be different.  And I know that this is a common theme in many Disney movies but in Dumbo’s case it’s a physical attribute that sets him apart from the other elephants, his ears.  His ears are huge, they take up half of the paper.  But despite how much he gets laughed at for not being normal, he’s able to find others in his life who love his big ears, and guess what? Dumbo can fly with those big ears! Can the other elephants with their normal size ears do that? No!  So even if you feel like crap at the end of the day from getting picked on for what you look like, Dumbo teaches you to love yourself for you are, and that you’re going to find others who love your big ears, or your big nose, or your freckles, or your body type, and what everybody else thinks doesn't matter because these features make you unique.  So embrace these features, like Dumbo, and FLY!  Also, thank you all so much for 300 FOLLOWERS!

So I was kind of bored today and I was cleaning my room and I found all of these old canvases that I had used for some art projects in the past and they were preeeeeeeeety bad (funny, because I thought they were amazing when I first made them).  But I figured I could paint over them with some new original art, and I’ve been meaning to put some original disney art in my art store anyway since pretty much everything I post on here is referenced directly from the movies so I can’t make money off of that because that would be illegal.  So I came up with the idea to do a series of paintings with disney characters looking in the mirror and seeing the person they actually wanted to see, and as you can see this is a sketch of Cinderella looking in the mirror and seeing herself at the ball.  Obviously this does not look like what I normally post on here and it looks a little wonky but its a SKETCH, it’s supposed to look like that.  Anyway let me know what you think of this idea, if you have any suggestions on what I could draw for other characters please submit them by clicking the Request a Character link, and let me know if you like seeing my sketches and want to see more of my drawing/painting process.  And my Dumbo drawing is coming I promise!
