Kiba and Hige from Wolf’s Rain. The ending was sad, but it was pretty good. Glad I got to watch it years later. Still can’t believe I never saw this on Adult Swim when I was a teen because I would’ve been all about this show….It’s okay though, I understood it better as an adult.

Zuko doodle! On that ATLA bandwagon with the new Netflix show out now so I felt nostalgic and drew everyone’s fire nation boyfriend 😆 I actually think the Netflix show is pretty decent! I think the cast is doing a very good job with the characters so far and I saw a 2nd and 3rd season is confirmed so I’m looking forward to seeing more.

I listened to the new Green Day album and it’s a banger, so I decided to take their little mascot doodle they’ve been using on all their promos and draw him in my style! (Though I admit he kinda looks like Gojo from Jujutsu Kaisen 😆) Anyway, love the album, love these guys and I can’t wait to see them in Pittsburgh in September!

Here’s my 2023 Art Summary! Towards the second half of the year, I started incorporating more halftones into my art and I think it really helped to make it pop.

Last four months were dedicated to my Stereo Ghouls comic and making promo art for that. I’ll be posting more promo stuff for it in the new year especially because 2024 is going to be dedicated to spending more time on my comics and original art. I want to have a total of 10 Stereo Ghouls comics done before I compile it into a Volume 1 book which I would like to have completed by Spring. My Malware Chan comic is on its way to being finished with only maybe two chapters left, so that will be a goal for next year too.

But above all, next year, I want to focus more on my overall health - both mental and physical. This was a stressful year with life things and I need to start paying attention more to my body and mind especially if I want to keep doing the things I love. Getting older sucks for sure…but staying focused really helps and balance is key.

Last Christmas, my Sicilian grandmother told us about La Befana, the Christmas Witch, and I’ve been meaning to draw her so I squeezed her in before the holidays. In Italian/Sicilian folklore, she flys on a broomstick on Epiphany Eve (January 5) and delivers toys to good children or a lump of coal or a stick to bad children. Like Santa, she travels down the chimney which is why she’s covered in soot, and it’s said that she’ll even sweep the floor with her broomstick before she leaves. And instead of cookies and milk, families would leave wine and a few morsels of food for her. She’s usually depicted as a smiling old woman, but I decided to draw a young version of her….Also happy winter solstice!

Now that I have all of these done, I’m gonna start putting them together to promote it on Webtoon. But I’m gonna take a little break from drawing for a while. I’ve been busting out Stereo Ghouls stuff since October trying to get stuff prepped for next year. Time to relax and enjoy the holidays! But more Stereo Ghouls to come in 2024!
