So we know in canon that Nie Huaisang formed his core eight or nine years later than his peers did. We're not told what age that is, but when WWX arrived at Lotus Pier at the age of nine or ten, JC didn't seem to have one yet and obviously WWX wouldn't. NHS may not have developed his core before Sunshot happened, which would explain why he was sent to the Cloud Recesses during the war, both for his safety but perhaps also in the hopes that he might finally reach a breakthrough in his cultivation. This does make me think of a scenario where NHS at some point falls into Wen hands and Wen Zhuliu steps up to do his thing to humiliate and disable the Nie Heir...except can't, because Nie Huaisang doesn't have a core to melt yet, so they're all just staring awkwardly at each other for a minute.

Eternally perplexed at the idea that Jin Ling's hatred of Wei Wuxian is because Jiang Cheng was just a big ol' meanie filling their nephew's ears with poison and that otherwise Jin Ling would have welcomed his father's killer with open arms. Even setting aside that literally everyone says horrible things about WWX, and that it would be incredibly politically unwise and even dangerous for JC to actively speak against, WWX super did kill Jin Zixuan. That was a pretty big thing that happened that can upset people sometimes.

Shocking twist! It's a jiujiu! And a baby nephew! Made of paper! What will I think of next?? ;)
Lol but anyway. I've made a similar papercraft before, but some of you lovelies may recall that my original sketch featured Jiang Cheng with his drama design, rather than his donghua design. So this time around, I decided to give that version a try! What do you think, lovelies?
(Also - can you tell I was excited to find a yellow-and-gold paper patterned with lotuses? Because I WAS.)

What if you decapitated your enemy and then dismembered his corpse, an act for which you gained renoun during the war, but then you yourself were decapitated and your corpse dismembered i am drawing parallels i am seeing connections i am making conclusions

I am contemplating on Nie Huaisang, who possesses an indifferent attitude.
Nie Huaisang, who genuinely cannot determine whether Wei Wuxian is truly evil and if he has succumbed to demonic cultivation. Nie Huaisang, who willingly took a risk, fully aware that Wei Wuxian could return as a twisted and malevolent being, wreaking havoc on Jianghu, and deemed it acceptable.
Many thoughts revolve around the notion that NHS is entirely convinced that WWX is not evil, that he has not completely lost his soul and his kindness to demonic cultivation.
Huaisang, who has spent the past decade living in constant fear of being killed for not being obedient enough, terrified of being discovered, and haunted by the inability to locate his brother's remains. He has been pushed to the edge by this fear, anger, heartbreak, and agony.
And he has decided that he no longer cares about how Wei Wuxian returns. If he is still the Wei Wuxian that Nie Huaisang remembers, then that is fantastic! Wonderful! His plan will likely succeed flawlessly.
However, if he is not the same, if he is a tormented and shattered soul consumed by resentment and nothing else, if he truly is the mass murderer everyone claims him to be and returns with that same murderous instinct, then Nie Huaisang will ignite the flames right in front of him, guiding the destruction Koi Tower, and accept his fate of being burned alongside the rest of the world. Because he is exhausted, he is terrified, and he is so incredibly angry.
In one way or another, he will bring down the world that Jin Guangyao constructed and will reduce it to ashes.
He has nothing left to lose.
Nie Huaisang is alone and has nothing left. He is determined to bring down Jin Guangyao, who has caused him so much pain, and make sure he loses everything too.

Nie Mingjue has certain blindspots in life due to the power and priviliege he was born to, and also that same power and priviliege is what dooms him to a violent early death. When self-preservation was never an option, it makes him less open to explanations about why someone just had to do a morally sketchy thing to save their own life. It's not even that he doesn't understand it's that he fundamentally disagrees on whay the consequences should be. His sense of justice is so rigid that his solution to JGY killing his men is that he will kill JGY and then kill himself to atone.
I've seen some people question whether he actually would, when that's the whole point of his character? Like...first off no one would really expect him to do this, and secondly this would make life objectively worse for everyone, especially the people NMJ is obligated to? Now Nie Huaisang(with or without a core) is thrust into leadership grieving and unprepared and without even a san-ge to lend a hand. Xichen's busy grieving both men and running his own sect. The ghosts of the Nie disciples in that throne room are shrieking at zongzhu to STOP RIGHT NOW. Even Meng Yao does not want this, given that he didn't save Mingjue's life for this!! The literal only person this benefits is Jin Guangshan. But NMJ has a firm belief in sticking to your guns and accepting the consequences. In the same scene that he argues against Jiang Cheng and Lan Xichen for half heartedly speaking for the Wen, he praises Mianmian's backbone in refusing to take back her words and choosing to leave her sect in defense of a man he believes to be evil, because he respects her convictions. The way Certain People On Here write him you think he'd be painting the walls with her blood for daring to speak out of turn or whatever, but instead he respects her even though he thinks she's completely wrong.
