Bro,, i actually do believe Killian probably had a child that got killed. Besides, when Killian took Lance hostage in the film when he says

"You took everything from me.." he sounds so hurt

I could go on all day but seriously

Lot of things were happening in this short moment.

Killian finds out Walter and asks what he is doing. He looks at Lance for a short second, wondering why the kid is still alive despite he killed him minutes ago because of Lance.

Also Killian's tone becomes calm and gentle compared to other situations. He might be weak when it comes to young kids.

Lance and Marcy also sees him and becomes frightened that Walter is in danger now. Probably saying, 'NONONO WALTER!!' internally.
