sooo.. i havent posted my own content in months :/

ive been busy with school and i kinda forgot abt my acc for a while. i definitely can't stick to a posting schedule (as we've learned from the story that i posted 4 late chapters and i didn't finish nor want to anytime soon). on my tiktok i've been posting mostly taylor swift content, so i could do some of that here (i can tell y'all all my crazy theories) or i could stick to just marvel. also let me know if you want me to post more meme-like things or like short one-shots and stuff, or if i should do a story. just a fair warning the chapters might be late. also my inbox is open so y'all can leave me requests for stuff.

you had an appointment scheduled for today, but bruce was at home sick. you’d been put with dr. potts for the day. bruce knew her, so she must’ve been good at her job.

when you arrived at the doctor’s office, you noticed there weren’t many people around. it was probably just a slow day. once it was your turn, one of the receptionists led you to an exam room that was isolated in comparison to the one bruce would usually see you in.

thinking nothing of it, you stuck around and waited. it was long until a friendly looking blonde woman in a doctor’s coat joined you.

she was touchier than the doctors you had been around in the past, but maybe she was just trying to make you comfortable. while you hated needles, you were due for a flu shot and you weren’t going to throw a fit and tell her you didn’t want one.

had flu shots always made you feel drowsy? your eyes felt like they were getting heavier. “why don’t you rest your eyes for a little while, darling? i can already tell you’re going to make such a good test subject for me.”

Chapter one

Steve - April, 2023

“Your mom’s name was Sarah”

“Buck?” Steve called. “Hey Sam, have you seen Bucky?” “Why, you gonna go confess your love to him” Sam joked. “What no! I need to uh talk to him about something that happened while I was returning the stones” Steve said defensively. “Then what happened” Sam asked. “It's kinda personal” he said in a small voice “uh huh okay he went to see Natasha’s grave” Sam said. “Oh he’s been going there an awful lot.” “I guess he just misses her” Sam guessed. “I do too of course she was my best friend besides Bucky but I don't think it’s healthy to visit that often.” “Why’re you arguing with me i'm not the one doing it” Sam said. “Okay fine i’m gonna go talk to him” Steve said.

As he walked to the cemetery he decided that he would tell Bucky about what happened with Peggy. He deserved to know because Steve was going to tell Bucky that he’s hopelessly in love with him and he has been ever since Bucky rescued him from that dumpster. He would tell him that he wants to spend the rest of his life together, that he’s retiring and giving the shield to Sam. Steve had been avoiding telling Bucky ever since Natasha died because he knew Bucky was sadder than everyone else though he wasn’t sure why because he thought they barely knew each other but still Bucky would be more likely to reject him now because he’s grieving. He wanted to tell him that no matter how sad he is Bucky’s smile always makes him happier, because it’s true. Bucky made him happier than anyone else. The only person who knew about this tiny massive crush- no not crush, it isn’t just a crush it’s love- was Natasha.

“It can’t be good for you to be here this much” Steve stated when he got there. “Are you a doctor? ” Bucky said sarcastically. “No but I do know a thing or two” and he could see that Bucky had been crying. “Listen Buck i need to tell you something” “shoot.” “I- uh i’m retiring” Steve stuttered deciding he’d tell Bucky later, “oh why i thought you loved saving the world?” he asked. “I do but I think it’s finally time to just settle down.” “Oh really? With who, you got a special someone?” Bucky asked.” The truth is that he wanted to settle down with Bucky, just be happy without worrying about hydra or aliens. “No I just wanna settle down with friends I guess” he made up. “Oh okay.” Steve had wondered at one point if maybe Bucky and Nat were more than friends, I mean Bucky's always loved red-heads. But he pushed the thought out of his head because Natasha wouldn’t betray him like that, right? He knew Bucky was into girls but he couldn’t help but hope that Bucky had feelings for him too. “do you wanna grab lunch or something?” he asked. “Sure” Bucky said with a smile, god Steve loved that smile.

*at lunch*

“So how’s it going with Sharon” Bucky said, suddenly changing the topic from the weather. “Wh-what” Steve said shocked, did Bucky think that he and Sharon were- ugh no Sharon and him had kissed but they mutually decided that it was weird and Steve figured it was kinda wrong to date your ex’s niece. “Non-existent.” “C’mon I saw you two, I know you at least dated” Bucky said. “We kissed and it was weird” “oh really huh okay.” Bucky said sarcastically. “God Bucky you’re just as stubborn as ever, you know Natasha was exactly like you talking about my love life and trying to set me up with people” as soon as it came out Steve realized his mistake- bringing up Natasha- “i’m sorry I shouldn’t have mentioned her its-” “no it’s okay” Bucky said, cutting him off. “Ok Buck, let’s just talk about something else, have you listened to trouble man?”

Bucky - April, 2023

Bucky watched in awe while Steve talked about some trouble dude album, how could a man be so perfect, god he just wanted to kiss those magnificent soft gorgeous lips and down his chest all the way down to his- “Buck are you even listening?” Steve asked. “What yes of course I am” “what did I say.” “Uh you were talking about that trouble guy thingy.” “Buck, that was 10 minutes ago.” “I'm sorry it’s just, uh i’ve just been kinda distracted.” “Bout’ what?” Steve asked. “Just thinkin’ bout’ life” “oh okay” Steve said but Bucky could tell he didn't believe him. “So have you told Sam yet?”, “told him what?.” “That you're giving him the shield.” “Oh, I was gonna tell him at the party.” “What party?” Bucky asked. “The one that Tony’s throwing, to celebrate bringing everyone back.” Steve answered. Tony was throwing a party.

Wow, Natasha died and he’s throwing a party, typical Tony Stark always trying to “look on the bright side” but then again Tony never showed his sadness so maybe this was his way of coping. “Oh I don’t think I was invited” Bucky said because Tony didn’t tell him. So Tony is throwing a party right after Natasha died (possibly to cope) and he didn’t even invite Bucky.

Now he’s definitely mad at Tony. But maybe Tony doesn’t want to talk to him because of the whole Bucky killing his parents thing, but he forgave Steve so why can’t he forgive Bucky. “What? You were definitely invited” Steve said. “Look, he didn’t tell me so he probably doesn’t want me there. He won’t kick me out but he certainly won't enjoy it” Bucky said and even though he didn’t really want to go he couldn’t help but feel hurt that Tony didn’t invite him.

“Oh well Buck he actually told me to invite you but i uh forgot” Steve said. Bucky couldn’t tell whether he actually forgot and was embarrassed or if he was just making it up to get Bucky to come. “It’s okay i don’t really feel like going” Bucky said because he didn’t want to watch Steve flirt with Tony. God he wished Tony wasn’t so damn charming I mean Bucky had known Steve since before he was Cap-a long time before actually- why could Tony just come along, smile that stupid Stark smile and steal Steve from him.

It was pretty obvious to everyone except Steve that Bucky was into him. Maybe he has no right to hate Tony because he killed his parents but Steve is the love of his life and he’ll do anything to be able to kiss him and for Steve to kiss him back and love him. The thing is he can’t even be mad at Tony, Steve is just so perfect and Tony is- well he’s Tony Stark for fuck’s sake he can have anyone he wants but he just had to pick Steve the one person that Bucky loves.

Why couldn’t Tony just date that doctor guy, Strange. Bucky hates that it’s not just Tony flirting but Steve flirts back which means that he’s into Tony which means that he’s not into Bucky which means that he’ll be alone forever and- “c’mon Bucky please come” Steve said interrupting Bucky’s thoughts. “No Steve I really shouldn’t go” Bucky said because even though he hated saying no to Steve he just couldn’t watch Tony and Steve be all together and flirty.

“Buck please, for me” Steve said and Bucky couldn’t resist “ok fine” Bucky said. “Yay we can go together” Steve said. Did he mean together-together like a date? No he couldn’t mean that, even if he was into Bucky he had to know that Tony liked him and he wouldn’t do that to Tony. “Ok” Bucky said and he couldn’t help a smile

Steve - April, 2023

Steve had a feeling that the reason Bucky didn’t want to go to the party is because he didn’t want to celebrate them winning when it cost them Natasha. Of course Steve didn’t want to either but they can’t be sad forever. He keeps telling himself that they’re just going as friends because Bucky’s not ready to move on and when he is it’ll be with a girl.
