So this probably isn’t the content you guys expected after so long. ^v^;;

Hi guys, I’ve been doing good, but it’s been super hectic and busy with the world being... you know... what it is right now. I hope you’re all staying safe and doing well.

I’ve been playing through and enjoying the heck out of Pokemon SwSh, including both DLCs. Which is not surprising all things considered, especially since the video up there is about it. I didn’t expect to make a video process for this sort of thing, but I figured that it would be a fun look at how I play with art and design.

I may make more videos like this in the future - perhaps more simplified than this - but I dunno’ yet. I still don’t know how how regularly I’ll be posting at all, so it’s up in the air. Life is wild for everyone right now so yeah. >v>;;

But I hope you guys enjoy this look at character design and watching me draw! Take care, everybody!

The Prince of the Sea - A Little Mermaid AU

[Part 4/4]

Aaaaand that’s it. Mostly just a lot of establishing and set up, but I sort of wanted to treat it as a first chapter type of thing with limiting my page count... That and I had these sketched out so long ago that I wanted to finish them in full, and that took so long that I have no idea when I’ll get back to it cuz by the time I was done I was kinda burnt out.

So Honerva essentially Ursula in this version. Rather than having her be Haggar l decided to have her be Honerva because I had an easier time fitting it in with the established conflict. Which as some may be able to tell is a bit more of a Tangled situation. Crossing of the Disney streams. Because looking at Lotor’s story, it fits very neatly into that Disney movie.

[Part 3/4]

This section is one where it was all about the color and lighting experimenting. First with the first page trying to convey the change in time while underwater, which took a bit. Then the next was with the contrast of the colors. 

Also for those wondering about Dayak’s hair, that was a thing I ended up on with some design stuff I did outside of mermay, and I ended up going with for this. I considered the shell being used as the hood she wears like in the show, but I liked the idea of the shell instead of the standard tail or tentacles more just because I like the idea of it being that prominent.

[Part 2/4]

Mermaids! They were fun to draw! 

As were the backgrounds, even if they were very time consuming and stressful at the time. One of the reasons I did this comic was an exercise in backgrounds, color and lighting. A comic using primarily underwater setting was something I’d never done before and seemed like a good way to do that. 

Plus it made drawing hair really fun. I could make it as flow-y and swish-y as I wanted. Like Ezor’s! Her’s was my fave.

Something I’ve been working on for the last few months. I originally had this idea waaay back last year... And by way back I mean December. But here’s finally something to show for it: A comic that I plan on posting every Friday this MerMay. And I’m confident in that because this comic is actually finished.

Out of curiosity, have you ever played a Nuzlocke on any Pokemon game? (I'm assuming you know what a Nuzlocke is XD).

I haven’t yet, but I have considered it ! I tend to go the route of “single team through the whole playthrough” cuz I like to build the attachment to the pokemon throughout the whole playthrough. But that also makes it hard for me to attempt to release pokemon or legit stop using ones I’ve had in my team. Plus the teams I build also tend to be first playthrough ones. And that just adds to that.

But I have considered it for things like remakes or playthroughs of older generations I’ve already played through before. The lack of multiple save files on the 3DS games were a big barrier for that though.

Luckily, though, the Switch lets you make multiple profiles for everyone who uses it, and after testing it with my brother playing LGE on his, I can say that it is a solid way to have multiple saves! So if I really get the urge, Sword and Shield might be the first games I ever Nuzlocke!

I was playing both a lot-

Until Animal Crossing came out and suddenly took over the game side of my life.

Both are excellent games and I like them both, Animal Crossing is just creativity unleashed for me. Cuz I can literally build my island in whatever way I want even if it ends up just being rearranging my flower garden over and over again in a vain attempt for rare flowers.

Thank you! The AU has it’s own whole blog centered around it’s story and plot, and there’s a summary link in most posts. But since Tumblr likes to be Tumblr, it seems like the links aren’t working that well on those.

This post has all the links both embedded and written out, that way if the embedding is the problem people can just type in the URLs manually. Hopefully the link to said post in this own works and doesn’t give people trouble.

Hey, how come you haven't been active in a long time? Is everything okay?

I’m doing fine! Life has just been crazy at the moment. Well, it’s been crazy for a while, but especially at the moment. For like. Everybody.

Before the Quarantine shenanigans started, I thought I was going to have a lot more time and motivation to post stuff and do more. And it… didn’t end up happening. I just needed whatever time I could find to chill out and recharge. And that time unfortunately was the time I usually used for posting stuff and working on things for blogs.

And then all this stuff happened and it’s like “…Welp. This is quite the situation.”

It didn’t really occur to me how long it’d been since an actual post on here tho, so sorry if I worried anybody! Today I’m gonna have a few asked I’ve had in my drafts for a long time post just so I have some stuff and just let people know I’m alive.

Back to some goofy audio in another animatic! This one is a clip I’ve been wanting to do ever since I started experimenting with animatics to begin with. One of my favorite Gina Linetti and Brooklyn Nine-Nine moments overall, and I couldn’t think of who better to include than Ezor!

There was a lot of trial and error in the export phase after the last couple videos didn’t come out in the highest of quality. Very much a learning experience since I’ve only done it so much. But the results turned out great. And that doesn’t even mention the satisfaction and pride I got out of the motion in the ending sequence!

Have you heard the theory that Eevee will never get anymore new evolutions because it was intended to evolve only into Special-focused typings? I call BS on that, personally.

I have heard of it and I don’t believe it based on the fact that it would break my heart.

But nah, I don’t believe that Eevee isn’t going to get anymore new evolutions, for a multitude of reasons:

With Eevee taking a title role in the Let’s Go games, it’s now even more popular than it already was - and it’s been very popular. And new evolutions help fuel that popularity, which is good for marketing the new games. One of the first bits of speculation every gen is if we get a new eeveelution. 

The limitation of Special typings might’ve been true in the past, but there’s no reason that can’t be something that’s changed. Especially since the differences in physical and special focused typings have changed between generations with the physical/special split in gen 4, which also had 2 new eeveelutions.

There’s still one Special focused typing left that Eevee doesn’t have an evolution for that existed before the physical/special split: Dragon.

Sunny, I love the environments and culture of the Galar region apparent. That's something I've been really digging in Pokemon lately, that they're tailoring new mechanics to the cultures of each new region. Z-moves and the Island Trials for Alola, and now Dynamaxing and every gym seemingly being treated like a public sporting event!

Agreed! With the previous generations, specifically gens 1-4, the regions themselves were good but felt very much like they were the same country or culture. Which was intended! They were all based on Japan, with gen 1 being named after the real life Kanto region. And they were great regions.

But it’s also a breath of fresh air that new regions since gen 5 have been establishing their own identity and leaning more into those cultural themes more and more with each generation. And Alola was the best execution of that concept by far in my opinion. The trials, guardians, myths around the legendaries, Z-moves, regional variants - all of these new features gave the region and games their own unique feel while adding to the gameplay experience, with both mechanics and immersion into the setting.

And that’s something I really love, and I think will only make the games better going forward! While some mechanics coming and going rapidly can be disappointing, I think it makes each new generation of games have a freshness to them. Keeps things from becoming repetitive and stale, which is a complaint that is a common thing for Pokemon. And from a story perspective, it makes the world that much more engaging and real, and will have people wondering what the next region will be like.

Morning Sunny =v= How've you been lately? You doing okay?

I’m doing good! The past month and a half have been very, very chaotic and busy. August was not the best, but September had some fun family get-togethers that were still chaotic but more positive.

A lot of stuff has left me with not as much time to do things as I’d like, and things like Q&As might not be as long or as common anymore sadly. But I will try to do them when I can, especially with things like news of the new Pokemon games and stuff!

Well then, which do you prefer? The sword or The Shield?

That’s one of the hardest questions for Gen 8 right now for me! This generation has got to be the hardest time I’ve ever had with choosing one version over the other.

With previous generations, it felt like a really easy choice; whether it was the legendaries, version exclusives, or contrasting themes, I usually knew which one I would prefer pretty early on. SuMo, I preferred Moon because I like the Moon theme. ORAS, I preferred Kyogre and got Alpha Sapphire, but thought Team Magma had the better story line so I liked Omega Ruby more after playing both. Between X and Y, I got Y first because I just had a preference between leters and didn’t know how I felt about the legendaries et, and afterwards I preferred Y due to how Yveltal worked better in the story than I thought Xerneas did. Let’s Go, I love Eevee so it was obvious.

But for Sword and Shield so far? Both legendaires are designed in a very similar way, intentionally so. They’re a pair that seems designed to go together rather than be apposed, mainly do to the concepts themselves. We still don’t know how they’ll factor into the story. And they’ve introduced a few big version exclusive differences with the Gyms, and now certain Galarian forms with Sirfetch’d being Sword exclusive.

Between the two, I like Zacian as a legendary more. But I also like Allister as a Gym Leader more than I do Bea. But I also want to use Sirfetch’d at some point. And there could be even more version differences that we don’t know yet! So it’s really hard for me to make a decision because each one keeps adding specific things that pull me back and forth between them.

So as of right now, I have no idea what I’ll get! I just need to keep waiting and see more trailers and info released before I can make a solid choice.
