thinking about kuroo being your dads best friend…

he’s known you since you were a little girl and has always loved joking around with you. now that you’re older, with more life experience, his joking has turned to less than innocent teasing whenever he comes over to hang out, shooting pool and darts with your dad. he constantly has that charming grin on his face when you come out to bring more drinks and snacks, occasionally joining in so they can show you how to run the table.

kuroo takes it upon himself to show you the proper way to hold the cue and where to hit the ball to make it go in the direction you want. his hands completely cover yours as he wraps your pointer finger along the shaft of the stick. he moves your other hand just slightly to help you get the momentum you need to shoot your ball into the corner pocket.

“get eye level with the table, take a deep breath in and don’t come back up for air until your ball makes it in,” he whispers all of this in your ear, paying no mind to your father in the corner of the room; who is changing stations on the radio.

you lean down further — nose nearly bumping the rail — until you see the cue ball lined up completely with your 5 ball. a deep breath in and your right hand pulls the stick back only to snap it forward, the only sound being the cue ball clashing with the red-orange ball into the pocket you called just a minute before.

clearly your dad has taught you very well.

“atta girl,” is all kuroo says offering your shoulders a soft squeeze as he hums in approval of your near perfect aim. you hope he doesn’t see the way you squeeze your legs together at his praise.

the funniest meltdown ive ever had was in college when i got so overstimulated that i could Not speak, including over text. one of my friends was trying to talk me through it but i was solely using emojis because they were easier than trying to come up with words so he started using primarily emojis as well just to make things feel balanced. this was not the Most effective strategy... until. he tried to ask me "you okay?" but the way he chose to do that was by sending "👉🏼👌🏼❓" and i was so shocked by suddenly being asked if i was dtf that i was like WHAT???? WHAT DID YOU JUST SAY TO ME?????????? and thus was verbal again
