i haven't played minecraft in years, but with the armadillo winning the vote, i think about how wolves don't really have much going on in terms of their utility. like anytime i tame a wolf, i end up just kinda keeping them sitting at home.

i think if mojang really does feel like wolves are deserving of armour, with the addition of armadillos, they really need to update wolves to be more useful as companion mobs, because personally... i never feel the urge to bring a wolf with me when im going out to do things, especially if it involves combat.

like, what do dogs do best? fetching stuff and digging, right? like i wish that i could just mill about with a wolf and they track a scent or something and start digging into the dirt and then proceed to bring you that item. like it could range from rarely digging up iron nuggets to digging up vegetables or whatever, yknow. combine the fetching stuff with combat and you wouldn't have to manually pick up stray arrows or items from mobs your wolf kills.

the only other thing i wish you could do with wolves is automate their health in some way, like give more utility to the bowl item so you can place it down for them to eat from so you don't have to constantly manage their health by looking at their tail. just minor quality of life stuff i guess.

idk, that's just my thoughts. i do like wolves in minecraft, they just feel rather lacking with the way some new mobs have so much going on, like the sniffer and allay and so on.

#id like to play minecraft at some point but sadly i dont think my current computer can run it due to not supporting opengl #but yeah. i usually keep this stuff to tags but i figured my thought process wouldve ended up with more than 30 tags #so thusly just. lone post of my thoughts. #but back on subject. i kinda think about how you could automate like... mob farms with wolves. but i run into dead ends #like how do you specify which mobs to have your wolf ignore. and how do you target them in the first place without attacking them #like. maybe the scope? like you zoom in on the mob you want attacked. idk. thats a tough one to figure out. #cause like it has to be something that can be easily executed. and easily managed. #like im imagining going to a pig pen and letting a wolf in to go kill and then bring back the items #but like you dont want the wolf to kill all of them... and yeah ik theres more efficient ways to farm mobs #i guess i just want it to be a bit more player involved. add some fun to it. #i like going around and doing things. automation is kinda less of my thing in most cases #especially with the complexity of some things right. like having a simple easy option would just be nice to have i guesz #its just all about how you go about executing it in gameplay #anyway thats all my damn brain power #minecraft #tagging that for myself for if i gotta find it later

Vanilla Gpose Challage - 2: Landscape/Location

"Wanna come watch fireflies with me?"

This game has so many pretty locations that choosing just one is hard. So! Since I already have a screenshot project focusing on overworld landscapes (link) with IC lore to go with them, I decided to go with a dungeon location for this.

Saint Mocianne's Arboretum is always a beautiful dungeon, but at night the plants around it start to glow~ Starting areas even get cute little fireflies, while later parts have some nice waterfalls.

An excerpt from the no longer secret Jiara SWATH AU for the Royals square from Jiara Bingo

At that very moment, Kiara dangled precariously from the apple tree, reaching as far as her arm and the fingers attached to it would stretch. The apple she snatched down nearly tumbled from her palm and took her with it, but she wrapped her arms around the sturdier branches and threw her head back, laughing at Pope’s sharp intake of breath and the exhale that followed it.

“I did advise caution,” he told her, shakily accepting the fruit. Kiara’s shoulder rose and fell, and she sat beside him, swinging her legs over the edge of the large branch they occupied.

“I did not fall, did I? Thus, I was cautious enough.”

Soon enough the apple is forgotten about, tossed to the ground by a startled Pope upon hearing the voice of his father calling for him. He and Kiara descended the tree quickly, scampering off before the call grew closer.

Spring turned to summer, and summer to autumn. With the fading of the light and leaves from the trees came the worst tragedy Kiara could fathom.

As every good thing must, the princess’ golden childhood came to an end.

you know i mostly really like my grad program and everything but i have very quickly learned not to ask too much about vision and hearing loss bc it turns out most of the faculty here know very little about those things. they know a little bit about hearing loss but really only in the sense of "get them fitted with hearing aids/CI as early as possible so they can develop like a hearing child". i really wanna learn more about language development in deaf, blind, and deafblind children because that's the population i specifically wanna work with (and have worked with in the past). and it's just been frustrating having my questions about those populations be met with "uh. i'm really not sure."

most of the faculty have been nice about it, but i have had the misfortune of being assigned an advisor who is borderline hostile about it. the first time i brought up this subject, (back through email when i was still deciding where to go), i was asking about an ASL elective that was offered within the program and whether there were any other electives with related topics. she responded by telling me that this was a masters program in speech language pathology, not ASL. great! you could've just said "no." the second time it came up was a few weeks ago when i talked to her about maybe doing a masters thesis (i won't be doing one, by the way). i said that if i were to do one, it would be about deafness, blindness, and/or deafblindness, and she said something like, "that's not a subject that's typically studied or taught in a CSD curriculum". as if it's just crazy that i as a CSD student would want to learn about something as esoteric as fucking vision and hearing loss! what a marvel!! not like those two senses have fucking anything to do with communication huh??? not like children who are deafblind face significant barriers in their development of language, the effects of which i have personally seen in numerous individuals??? clearly i'm really the crazy one here

#sorry this ended up turning into a rant about this specific professor lol #i did mean for it to be more general but she really pissed me off #she has in fact pissed me off two out of the two times i have spoken to her so that's cool #she apparently also sucks as a prof but my cohort has lucked out bc #she was supposed to teach neuro this semester and artic/phono next semester but isn't for unknown reasons #so we get other (better) teachers #apparently i will have to have her this summer tho :/ #anyway as to why i'm getting steamed about this weeks after the fact #i'm currently reading a paper on deafblindness (that i personally chose for a class project) and it's just on my mind again #everyone in the class had to pick papers on a population of interest for them (like autism; down syndrome; selective mutism; etc) #and there's a public list of what everyone chose and i'm the only one who chose anything about vision/hearing which i guess isn't surprisin #but yeah the more i think about this stuff the more i kinda wish i had taken all my prereqs so i could have applied to go to gallaudet #if there's any program that's gonna have people who know more about these populations it's there #out of the places i was accepted i feel very confident i chose the best option #this place has a brand new asl program and so they are actively making efforts to raise deaf awareness in the dept #but even with that it's still astonishing how people in this field brush off knowing anything about these populations #like yeah it's very low incidence i can get that #but we still learned a bunch about fucking williams syndrome and that's exceedingly rare #and rare or not it has a demonstrable effect on language development which makes it extremely relevant #jesus i'm sorry for the tag essay i'm gonna stop #i am procrastinating as usual bc i can't focus on this paper even though i am very interested #here is that grad school tag

because im covering for this class for an indeterminate amount of time, i have planning time, and today that meant a Different crt was in the room while i was meant to be doing my thing and i TOTALLY get the stress of regular teachers letting a crt take control of their class now
