#'vegan for the environment' is a lie

Vegans(a very specific type, not all) when they say "it's more environmentally friendly to not use animal products! Think about how many resources cows take up!" Make me laugh cause like
Babygirl the fish are dying from the microplastics from all the pleather you lot use which is quite literally disintegrating after a certain amount of time and doesn't last anywhere near as long as leather.
Sacrificing a thousand fish to save one cow, and you're probably not even saving that cow, you're just letting more of it go to waste.
Oh but you can't say that to them, they'll just call you a "carnist" or some shit instead of trying to have an actual conversation

Note
im vegan but calling people who arent "carnists" is a bit insane, not gonna lie. PETA sucks ass. Fake fur is bad for the environment though.
i never said ppl who arent vegan are carnists, i just believe that ppl who tie their masculinity to eating meat to the point where they harass ppl online about how they arent man enough or 'too much of a chump' or whatever to wear murdered animals for fashion are fucking weird, like the previous anon.
and i have no idea why u are dragging peta into this that was never brought up.
so much weird projection going on today lol.
what a fun thing to come back to after my social media break lol

Saw some of the Interminable Leather Discourse on my dash. Has anyone ever done an authoritative estimate of how bad it is or isn't?
They don't raise and kill animals specifically for leather. The hide is 4-10% of the monetary value of animals raised and killed for meat.
(10% according a rando on the leatherworking Reddit; 4% according to The Leather Lobby Incorporated's page on We Swear We're Not Evil, You Guys, citing a source that does not seem to say that. I'm just going to call it 5% for the round number.)
Approximately 55 square feet of leather per cow.
The lobbyists up there said it was 69% cows; the rest is sheep+goats+pigs, with pigs being the next biggest. Make it ~42.6 square feet per dead animal; the true number will be a bit smaller because they're not all pigs.
(Apparently if you buy Chinese leather and aren't careful about your sources they sometimes sell leather made from cat or dog skin and lie about it. I assume leather-wearers are not okay with this, but would be interested to find out why. Like, I know my reason, but it's probably not the same one.)
40 square feet for a small men's jacket. More for large, less for women.
A typical leather jacket kills about 1/20th of an animal, in the same ballpark as eating 100 (beef) burgers, or about half of a (chicken) burger.
Animals killed by faux leather:
Literally none?
If every plastic jacket you ever buy ends up in a landfill, that's like...one really big trash bag? A few square feet of area that didn't have much of anything living on it anyway?
Not trying to be sarcastic here; I just genuinely don't see how this hurts or kills much of anything.
Making plastic can't possibly be good for the environment, but it's definitely less bad than growing a one-twentieth-ass cow.
Final opinion on the Discourse:
Depending on how much meat you eat and how long you wear your clothes for, wearing leather is probably less bad than eating beef but around that ballpark.
It is way less bad than eating chicken.
As always, someone who eats as many cows as they want and no other animals has accomplished most of the good things about being vegan with barely any effort. This stays true if they also wear leather.
Arguing about leather is like arguing about the difference between mostly-vegetarian and actually-vegetarian.
I was hoping it'd be a small enough difference that I could say whatever, it's a rounding error, I'm gonna go buy leather now. It wasn't; this is a real difference.
But it is small enough that if you want to wear a leather without people yelling at you, you can skip buying chicken for three weeks and link the activists here so they get mad at me instead of you.
You know, if Internet arguments sound like a fun use of your time.

I've seen your posts on veganism, and you being a biologist makes me feel ok to ask this! I am not vegan, but I've dealt with a lot of pressure and guilt to become one from them, and it never works for me at all. However, because I'm super passionate about conservation, especially stopping deforestation, i have had MORE pressure than usual to go vegan for the planet, under some guise that this was what would help. When reading about it, a lot said cattle farming causes a lot of deforestation, and making native species there go extinct. Obviously I'm against that, but I don't want to go vegan. I've tried. I cannot. But a lot of people say it isn't possible to be a conservationist and care for the planet and eat meat. I'm curious to hear a scientific reply to these claims and hopefully have an end put to it? Thanks.
I don't remember specifically making posts about veganism to be honest but it's a complete lie that sustainably raised livestock contribute to deforestation. I don't know where you live, but here in the US it is true that we have destructive conventional animal farms which pollute the environment, but you also aren't forced to buy your meat that way. There are tons of small-scale, regenerative farms in every state in the country. It's not hard to find good quality meat raised on farms that are acting as a net benefit to the environment. Properly-managed regenerative farms increase biodiversity, rebuild topsoil, reduce carbon emissions, and produce meat that is healthier to consume. Check out Joel Salatin, the owner of Polyface Farm. He has written several books on the subject (and is much more highly educated than myself).
Also, I find it ironic that vegans cry about deforestation when their diets consist entirely of foods such as corn, soy, wheat, rice, and other grains, all of which involve destruction of massive swathes of natural biomes to make way for thousands of acres of monocropping. Not to mention exploitation of workers in foreign countries and the MASSIVE carbon footprint left by shipping crops across the world (or even just across the US). Oh, and we can't forget that, on top of the animals wiped out during the destruction of their habitats to make way for the farmland itself, the machinery used to tend to the crops kills thousands upon thousands of small creatures such as mice, voles, frogs, etc. out in the field (which in turn affects predator populations). There is literally no such thing as a cruelty-free diet. It is simply not possible, and vegans who say they are cruelty-free are lying to themselves.
I can say with absolute certainty that the impact my own diet has on the environment is not only significantly less than that of ANY vegan, but my diet actually supports a net positive effect. I eat only beef from a local farm that raises their cattle entirely on grass, practices regenerative rotational grazing and slaughters locally. My meat travels less than 20 miles total. The topsoil on the farm is deep and lush, it doesn't smell or pollute the nearby waterways, and the animals are stress-free and healthy. (And I pay a lot less for it than grocery store meat.)
If veganism doesn't work for you, don't do it. And don't let anyone try to pressure you into eating in a way you know isn't right for you. You are not a slave to the demands of others. If you passionately want to reduce your impact on the environment, then buy local, in-season and organic wherever possible, and commit yourself to eliminating anything from your diet that does not fall into that category. This could be a massive undertaking depending on where you're starting from, and it has a learning curve to it. But if it really matters to you, you'll do it. If it doesn't really matter to you, then it's better to have that conversation with yourself sooner rather than later.

Vegan Masterpost
Want to make a change for the animals, for the planet and for your fellow humans? Here's how to start: 1. Replace your favorites with plant based ones. Look up vegan recipes + your fav meals. Stop buying animal products and start buying alternatives! That's basically it! You're probably going to start getting exposed to a bunch of new plants and flavors to cook with. Embrace the fun! I'm not going to lie, you will probably crave animal flavors and textures at first. There's nothing wrong with having these cravings, just accept they are normal and will go away. 2. Look up vegan nutrition needs. You will probably need to supplement with B12 (found in fortified foods, such as fortified cereals or nutritional yeast). This is fine. Supplements are a good things! We put iodine in salt, and most carnist cereals and cow's milk are fortified for a reason. Take advantage of modern efficiency and accept that fortified foods and occasional supplementation is normal and healthy. My doctor recommends everyone where i live to take vitamin D daily, due to the lack of sunlight. Getting nutritional needs met in the most efficient and cruelty free way is good, actually. If you have specific needs around allergies or are dealing with an eating disorder, talk to a vegan nutritionist if you can afford it, otherwise consult with the vegan community and do your best.
3. Start using a cronomoter if that feels okay for you mentally. A lot of vegans don't eat enough at first! We need to load up on those delicious carbs and protein rich foods and keep consuming fats. 4. Integrate yourself into the community! Join vegan facebook groups, vegan hobby groups, vegan book clubs, follow the vegan tag. Follow animal sanctuaries on every social media. Seeing animals as animals and not objects is a big step in being vegan and seeing how happy these animals are in fulfilling caring environments is a positive reminder of the difference you're making. The hardest part of being vegan is the reaction from non-vegans. If you feel supported through the vegan community, you're much less likely to feel strong in the face of non-vegan pressure to conform or "cheat". A lot of us are genuinely pretty welcoming, probably because vegans are more likely to be liberal, poor, nonwhite, and lgbt+ than average. 5. Educate yourself! Read through vegan books, watch educational videos about what animals go through, and/or look at the vegan boot-camp. You are not required or expected to put yourself through watching animal violence, but if you have trouble connecting to the animals and think you can deal with it, it can help you realize how horrible and violent their lives and deaths are. I personally have not seen Dominion nor do i plan to, i have no need. The only people who need to be watching that stuff is non-vegans who are dismissive of the suffering animals go through. 6. Prepare yourself for a lot of unprompted excuses and defensiveness around non-vegans! Here's some lists of common "gotchas". You'll have them memorized within the first 3 months because of how often you'll hear them. There's also vegan debaters on youtube if that's your jam. Remember, you can always disengage and say "honoring my personal values is important to me and you should respect that" if you don't know what to say or don't want to argue. NOW FOR THE FUN PART Replace WHAT with WHAT? TEXTURES: make sure to get extra firm tofu! ground beef -> textured vegetable protein steak -> seitan steak recipes shredded chicken -> jackfruit sliced chicken -> soy curls, Tofu Fish textures -> watermelon (seriously) Unagi -> eggplant Bacon -> Tofu or rice paper Popcorn Chicken -> breaded soy curls lunchmeat -> vegan lunchmeat, or make your own with seitan/tofu Tuna or chicken salad -> chickpea salad Fried Chicken -> Fried Oyster Mushrooms or Tofu pulled pork --> Jackfruit Cow's milk -> any non-dairy milk! You can also make your own very easily Butter -> margarine Cheese -> vegan cheese, or make your own! Eggs -> Tofu, or mung bean egg, eggy yolk recipe In Recipes: Replace eggs with flax seeds or yoghurt, aquafaba, silken tofu, applesauce, banana, pumpkin, chia, baking soda & vinegar Flavors! Beefy -> Basically just salt with some umami Chickeny -> kinda salty, kinda herby Bacony -> liquid smoke, salt, and some sweetness Eggy -> use black salt Cheesy -> nooch please! Sweet -> maple, agave
7. If you drink alcohol, check barnivore to make sure your wines and beers weren't processed using fish guts! 8. Don't purchase any new products made from taking from animals. This means looking for cruelty free grooming items, cruelty free textiles, and avoiding animal exploitation like purchasing from breeders or riding horses. Obviously, necessary medication is the exception. 9. Be extra kind to animals in your real life :) They deserve extra love. Learn to put spiders outside and how to deal with "pests" by preventing them. 10. You are now vegan! Welcome! We're happy to have you! :D You will probably stumble a little bit or not know things like how some sugar is processed with charr from animal bones! That's okay, just keep learning and keep your eye on the positives.

Part 8
Summary: At an unexpected lunch with colleagues, you struggle to keep your secret intact as new possible suspicions over your relationship with the boss arise.
Relationship: Thorin Oakenshield x Fem!Reader (Modern AU)
Words: 2,5K
Warnings: 18+
A/N: This is part 8 of this fic. You can read all the previous parts here.
The last day of the week arrives and with the weekend at our doorstep, Friday feelings seem to be sparkling in everyone's blood. Despite the early hour, people gather in the coffee lounge area to enjoy a cup of java together with one of Bombur’s highly desired bagels. What from the beginning were only two standard choices, have expanded to a small buffet with everything from cream cheese bagels with prosciutto and avocado to fully vegan alternatives. The man insists on delivering them in person, with a little help from one or two of his employees. I have noticed that he often stays a bit longer than required and talks to mainly Thorin or Balin when he’s here. Breakfast on Fridays is one of the most appreciated recurring events that take place at the office, as part of the company’s vision in creating an overall inclusive working environment. And today everybody appears to be at the office; the lounge is packed with laughing colleagues, and the smell of freshly brewed coffee fills the air. Someone has lit a few candles, the many spotlights in the ceiling are slightly dimmed, and soft lounge music seeps from the hidden speakers. I try to mingle, as usual, and manage to talk with both the head of HR as well as a few of the newest members in our sales organization.
I have looked forward to this day ever since Thorin left, and even though it was far from one of his longest trips, it was enough for me to miss him incredibly. My strong feelings scare me a little; falling head over heels for my boss was not something I planned, and yet here I am, excitedly waiting for his arrival. I feel vulnerable in a way I have not felt in a very long time, and even if we try to take things slow, my treacherous heart has already whispered things I do not dare to say out loud.
Eventually, people return to their meetings, computers, and phone calls, the constant sound of voices dies, and just as I place my mug in the washing machine, I hear Kili’s voice behind me.
”I just spoke with Fili. He and Thorin had a change in plans and rebooked their flights. They should be here around lunch. Fili said he has interesting news about a future marketing collaboration and I’m dying to hear them.” Kili swallows the remains of his coffee and frowns, then he lowers his voice and casts a glance around us. The lounge is thankfully empty. ”I tried to get him to talk about Michele but he avoided that topic. Maybe Thorin was around, I don’t know.”
”Their last meeting was canceled on short notice.” I reply, but instantly realize that I’ve said too much. I bite my lip and mentally slap myself; sometimes my brain needs to filter my thoughts better before my mouth speaks.
”Yeah, I guess so. How did you know?” Kili looks at me with a curious expression in his hazel eyes. As the younger of the two brothers, and now subordinate to Fili, I have understood that he’s used to not being told everything, but there is no judgment in his eyes.
”Oh, well… Thorin filled me in on some details before they left.” I lie and hope he doesn’t ask further questions. And he told me last night when he called to say goodnight.
”Right. Anyway, if you’re not busy during lunch, you’re welcome to return that meal today at Bombur’s. I heard he’s making meatloaf and that’s too good to miss.”
”How can you think of lunch now? We just had bagels!” I welcome the change in subject and Kili throws me a grin.
”I burn my calories fast, you know.” He gives me an exaggerated wink, and even if I prefer not to know, he makes his point very clear.
***
A few hours later, I watch Kili use his fork to stab the oversized meatloaf, and his joy over Bombur’s skills can be read all over his face. I have to agree, Bombur never seems to fail in the kitchen, and as part of the mysterious circle that centers around Thorin and includes a strange mix of people from Erebor Corporation, Kili receives special treatment every time. He has just started to explain one of his most recent projects when excited voices raise by the door. I turn around, only to see Bombur making his way over to the entrance, catching the well-known, blond man who just entered the restaurant, in a friendly hug. Kili waves enthusiastically and finally his brother sees him. With a broad grin he approaches our table, holds up a thumb to Bombur who loudly asks if the newcomer wants lunch, and then, after a graceful bow, he takes the seat next to me.
”I thought I would find you here.”
Kili points with his knife to the meatloaf almost covered in gravy and grins. ”You know it!” He takes another mouth full. ”How was the trip?”
”Good, rewarding, and as expected, I guess, in that sense.” Fili starts to explain how their work will elucidate a special matter from a marketing point of view, but Kili is impatient and lifts his hand to silence him.
”You never answered me how Michele is doing.” Kili looks innocently at his older brother, who glances sideways at me.
”Kili, I—”
”She knows, I told her.”
”You really can’t help yourself, can you?” Fili sighs and looks annoyed, but starts laughing when Kili tilts his head like a regretful puppy. ”Michele is fine, just busy or I would have taken her out for lunch instead of looking for your sorry ass.” He turns to me. ”Please excuse me, my brother is a bad influence on my language.”
”It’s fine, I think I know him well enough to safely say I agree with you.”
”Hey!” Kili tries to look offended.
Like a peacemaker, Bombur arrives with a plate of steaming meatloaf, and when Fili exclaims his love for the chef, he gets a not-so-gentle pat on the shoulder in return.
Then the humble restaurant owner excuses himself and disappears back to his pots and pans.
”So..?” Kili lowers his voice. ”Any news?”
Fili, obviously keen to torture his nosy brother, takes a large piece of food, chews slowly and hums approvingly at its taste, then nods. He’s right, the food is—as always at Bombur’s—delicious. I can’t help but think how young Kili appears to be when he’s impatiently looking at his brother. It’s like catching a rare glimpse of their youth, when Fili most certainly had to stop Kili from unwrapping all Christmas gifts the second they were discovered under the tree.
”Thorin knows.” Fili finally reveals.
”What?” Kili almost chokes on his beloved lunch. ”Did Balin tell him after all?”
”No, I did.” Fili looks calmly at his brother, who stares back at him.
”You did?”
”Yeah.” Fili shudders. ”I thought it was best if he heard it from me. It was not an easy decision to tell him, but he took it surprisingly well. I was certain he was going to lecture me at first, but it was as if he thought of something and changed his approach as we spoke.”
”Wow!”
Fili looks pensively at Kili. ”It was not like him. And to be honest, I don’t really recognize him at all. He was so… reasonable during the whole trip. It’s not the Thorin I know.”
”Are you sure he’s well? I mean, people who are sick sometimes start to value new things in life.”
”You’re an idiot sometimes, Kili.” Fili shakes his head. ”Thorin is fine. Have you ever seen anyone in better shape, at his age I mean.”
”At his age?” Kili grins. ”I’ll tell him you said that!”
”Still, there is nothing wrong with him. But something has changed and it’s definitely for the better.”
The smallest heat spreads over my cheekbones, and I pray the brothers will not notice. I don’t know if I—or more precisely, what Thorin and I do—have affected him in any way, but the logical part of my brain tells me it can’t be a coincidence. I have noticed a small change in Thorin as well, but I thought it was my imagination playing tricks on me, since I know we’re seeing each other. I poke at my food; eating just became harder. When Kili suddenly speaks my name, I meet his gaze and quickly understand that I missed his question.
”Sorry, what did you say?” I put on a confident smile.
”I said, what do you think? You work close to him. Have you noticed anything… unusual?” He gives me his most conspiratorial smile and even if it makes me nervous, I can’t stifle my laugh.
”No, not really. His personal life doesn’t concern me.” I’m such a bad liar.
”Who said anything about his personal life?” Fili raises an eyebrow, and he resembles Thorin so much when he turns to gaze at me. ”But you have an interesting point.” Damn, I did it again!
I don’t believe in angels, but when Fili’s phone starts ringing and saves me from making the situation even worse, I send thanks to whoever is watching over me. The way his eyes shine as he sees the name of the caller says it all. In a hushed voice he answers, promises to come by her desk after lunch and ends the call with a happy smile that reaches his eyes.
”You’re in deep trouble, brother. You should see yourself right now.”
”Falling in love is not so bad Kili, you should try it sometimes.”
”And miss all the fun? No thanks!”
”Grow up little brother. One day, when you’re old enough, you’ll understand that keeping a woman takes a lot more effort than getting under her skirt once.”
Kili makes a face, lets out his most carefree laugh and turns his attention to the remains of what used to be a magnificent meatloaf. We don’t return to the discussion about Thorin, and I’m almost relieved when we say goodbye to Bombur and head back to the office. A detour to the coffee lounge is mandatory after lunch and Fili immediately occupies both taps on the machine with his cups. One for him and one for the green-eyed woman who clearly has stolen his heart.
Familiar footsteps approach the lounge, and it takes a great deal of willpower not to spin around too quickly when Thorin’s rumbling voice fills the area. As always, he is in full control of his expression when he greets our trio, but a hint of a smile appears on his lips when he sees Fili grabbing the two filled cups. One with milk and one black coffee. Then Thorin turns to me.
”I want a word with you, can you make it now?” I blink and nod. Did he just invite me to his office in front of both of his nephews? After what we talked about during lunch, I would have preferred if Thorin could tread more lightly. But Kili doesn’t seem to react to his words, he only asks Thorin a polite question about the trip. Fili excuses himself, fully focused on carrying coffee to his beloved, and I have to remind my spinning brain that a short briefing with Thorin now makes perfect sense, and not only for our aching bodies.
I follow Thorin to his office, admiring his broad shoulders and back in that impeccable navy suit he wears today. His hair is a little longer at his neck. He was frustrated before he left, for he had forgotten to book an appointment and his barber couldn’t make room for him, but I assured him that it looks good when it’s longer as well. I love touching his hair, and even if I don’t think he will let it grow longer, I enjoy the feeling under my hands. The jacket covers most of his behind, but I know how well those trousers suit him and I can see the shape of his strong thighs as he walks.
He doesn’t look back, he just pushes the handle down and walks inside, leaving it to me to close the door to his office. The moment the door is shut, he pulls me close. His lips crash against mine, and his kiss is hungry, demanding and rough. I whimper against his lips as he presses me tightly against him as if he wants to hinder me from escaping from his grip. The way his hands eagerly explore my lower back and find their way under my top is enough to send pulsating heat to my core. I kiss him back, pouring all my need and longing into the kiss, hoping he can sense what I feel in this moment of reunion. This is what I want and need, him, here and now. But he breaks the kiss too soon for my liking. He rests his forehead against mine and softly pants my name.
”Please tell me that you will sleep at my place tonight.”
”If you want me to.”
His hands grip my waist under the smooth fabric of my top. ”What do you think?” he murmurs huskily and his alluring smile before he kisses me again is a lovely dark promise of a long night.
Suddenly he releases me with an apologetic look in his beautiful azure eyes, and pulls his hand through his hair in a frustrated gesture I know by heart. Then he adjusts his jacket. ”I have to meet Dwalin now and discuss the legal aspects of the issue you two worked out. Believe me, I would much rather have prefered to pin you against the wall.”
”I guess you’ll have to keep that thought...” I tease.
”Until later then,” Thorin replies and I tuck my top back in place.
”Maybe you should get a large mirror in here, so I can check how I look before I leave, and don’t have to rely on you.”
”I can see many benefits with that type of installation.” Thorin smiles slyly. I gently smack him on his upper arm, and he chuckles darkly.
”You’re an animal! But honestly, we can’t keep meeting for sex in your office. People will eventually notice.”
”I know I am, but you like it, don’t you?” He pulls me close again, hovering his lips over mine. ”Or is the bright fire in your eyes only a facade?” His lips brush against mine, teasing me. Then the bastard withdraws with a grin. ”I’ll see you tonight.”
I feel like I’m burning inside as I leave his office, with him a few steps behind. He walks over to the elevator, which will take him to the building’s most secret place—the surveillance room—and I return to my tea, which I forgot the same second Thorin entered the lounge. The abandoned tiny bag, shaped like a pyramid and filled with green tea and chamomile flowers, still rests on the counter.
As I sink back into my leather chair, I let out a delighted sigh. Thorin’s hands still burn under my top, and the memory of his kisses will keep my spirit up for the rest of the afternoon. He’s back.

This is the watcher thing all over again goddammit
Changing an extremely popular vegan restaurant to serving dead animals has NEVER WORKED FOR ANYONE WHO HAS TRIED IT.
Ffs Gracias Madres almost closed because people just found out the owners ate meat at home, and it took years of good will to get them back on track.
There's a restaurant in Las Vegas that has tried this multiple times and every time they try to serve dead animals to make more profit, their shit goes under again because you are alienating your only fan base.
Meat eaters have countless restaurants to go (ESPECIALLY IN LOS ANGELES OH MY GOD) but you had a large percentage of the (LARGE) vegan population in LA coming in because, frankly, there still aren't a lot of vegan restaurants (especially to get brunch!)
Bro last time I was at Disneyland, Iyfted all the way to Sage for brunch. You think people are going to come from GODDAMN OAKLAND to Disneyland to lyft to you for bunk ass meat n eggs?? What are you on??
Also to claim you're going to be serving animals "to help the environment" is a straight up lie or you've lost your whole ass mind. And they announced it on earth day! What the fuck
They're alienating their community in an attempted money grab that will inevitably fuck them over far, far worse than they already are.
Not even going into the allergen issues this week raise, as before you could order from Sage and be aware of what you could eat with certain allergies. Adding 4x more cross contamination issues on top of the moral concerns while having the same size kitchen will definitely work out for them!

I need to come clean:
I'm the one who is single handedly consuming all the agave, it's not tequila production, it's solely me.
I am also entirely responsible for all of the plastic in the environment because I refuse to wear leather and wool.
It's my fault that there are monocrops. I know some basic research may convince you that they are predominantly used for animal feed, but that's wrong, it's actually just me demanding unlimited amounts of soy.
I am draining the desert of all its water with my almond milk. I am the only person in the world who drinks it and, again, I know some basic research may tell you that it is actually significantly more water efficient than milk from cows, but that's a lie.
All of the earth's problems originate from my terrible, terrible vegan consumption habits and mine alone. I'm really sorry guys.

I love seeing posts from my punk vegan friend, talking about how going Veggie or Vegan is so important, and how meat farming is ruining the climate. And then immediately after she posts her Spotify wrapped with Taylor Swift as her top artist and praises her endlessly
And like, I won’t lie, veganism/vegetarianism probably is a bit better, it would also be better if we changed our farming system and what we fed our animals and whatnot, but it’s whatever. I’ve got nothing against vegans and vegetarians.
But to then go and post about how much you love Miss Highest Celeb Carbon Emissions, right after. To praise her for being a strong independent women whilst she’s using her private jet to go grocery shopping.
Just makes me wonder if you actually care about the environment or if you want to feel good about yourself?

Everyone in MDSZ always adjusts more or less well to the Cloud Recesses lifestyle during their studies there, but the reality is that a lot of them would probably get very ill during their stay if their golden core allowed it:
"Sleep from 9PM to 5AM on the dot": Its insane to me how the Cloud Recesses don't account for the fact that some people just fall asleep earlier or later than them naturally because it's just how their body is wired. Having to force your body to fall asleep at odd times is insanely difficult or just doesn't work. You'll only lie in bed and stare at the ceiling while waiting for your body to kickstart sleep mode.
And don't get me started on them waking up at 5am. I know this is ancient fantasy china, but it's already been proven that, yeah there's benefits, but waking up that early also harms children. It forces their muddled brain into work and lowers affects their performance.
Reminder that all guest students are, in fact, teenagers, even with their golden core.
These poor hearts must be exhausted.
"Plain, no spice whatsoever, vegan meals, every meal" A drastic change of diet for like every sect except Lan. They all probably have very rich meals because
1) The Jin are loaded in money. They probably have feasts every week with every fruit, meat and drink imaginable.
2) The Jiang (if i'm not mistaken) are known for their spices. They're also in a water environment, they definitely favor fish in their meals.
3) The Nie are literally descendants from butchers. I bet that meat is highly encouraged in almost every meal, and is probably seen as part of the culture.
We hear how the Lan food is not appetizing. When something's not appetizing, you usually don't eat much of it, even if you need the nutrients.
In fact, drastic changes of diet can cause "Extreme cravings, headaches, fatigue, low energy, brain fog, gas, and bloating". It also makes you more irritable.
Which leads me to my next point:
"All the rules about restrain of excess noise or emotion": I know the Cloud Recesses are all about restrain, but imagine if you had to beat into submission every part of you that makes you yourself just to fit in. Not allowing the physical aspect of emotions to run through the body can affect your health, did you know?
(I headcanon that the true meaning of the lan rules were lost overtime in favor of control. in this case "excess, unhealthy management of emotion is forbidden" turned into "any and all emotion must be reduced to 15%". but this all applies too)
There's angsty fanfics about this aspect, for god's sake.
TLDR: The Cloud Recesses are actively harming their guests by imposing every rule with the same strictness as the sect members. They should be more lax and take into account the needs that differents students may have, as they cannot be expected to adapt to everything with no repercussion on their physical or mental health, even with golden cores.

u reblogged something that would suggest ur anti-vegan. If that’s the case (I could be wrong), its always beyond me to see someone from an oppressed group, who claims to understand oppression, advocate for the oppression of another group
Ahskshsk wow. Yeah I’m not gonna lie I’m anti-vegan if they’re like you busting into peoples inboxes trying to tell them how to think. It’s a diet. That’s what it is. It’s not some kind of moral imperative.
First of all, not everyone can be vegan. There are some people who, healthwise, have to eat meat because they can’t get the same necessary nutrients from plant products. And there’s plenty of people who cannot take on the financial burden that veganism requires.
Second of all, it’s no more ethical than someone eating meat. In fact, I’d argue that eating locally-produced meats or meat harvested by oneself is more ethical than veganism, because you know where and who it came from and no humans had to experience child labor for your quinoa or agave. And there are ethical butchers who slaughter animals in ways that the animal will not even know death is coming - this is particularly true of Kosher or Halal butchers. Though I have no doubt if you’re sending me this message, you’re probably bought into the antisemitic and islamaphobic rumors that PETA spreads.
Obviously there’s value in knowing where your food comes from. Getting your meat from a local butcher instead of from a factory farm is better both for the animals and for the environment, because it doesn’t have to travel as long of a distance. Buying local in-season produce is also better for the environment, and you get to support local farming which is always important.
You picked probably the worst person to try and argue with about this because I am never going to be on your side. Hell, I support indigenous whaling (even as a huge fan of whales) because I know that getting fresh meat on reservations, particularly in the arctic circle, is prohibitively expensive. I’m also cool with pretty much any other subsistence hunting esp cause with a lack of natural predators, deer populations left unchecked can do damage to the ecosystem.
I am always going to put people first. You say I claim to understand oppression. I assume that’s a jab at the fact I’m trans and bi which, really cool to do that by the way, definitely nothing could be seen as having negative connotations there. I don’t claim to understand oppression beyond that which I’ve experienced myself, but what I do have is a respect for the people who are oppressed. Though I as a white person will never truly understand the oppression indigenous groups face having never had to go through it myself, I can give them respect and support. I respect and support indigenous people who participate in subsistence whaling, because I’m aware of the fact it’s a cultural practice that has been oppressed by white colonizers. Human rights should always always always be put before animal rights. I’ve literally written papers about the negative effects of white vegans on indigenous peoples because I have a minor in anthropology and have made it a point to learn about and respect indigenous groups because of the impact white colonizers (and yes, even other anthropologists - I know it’s a field with a bad history) have had on them. I should note, I don’t claim to speak for these indigenous groups, because I as a white person obviously cannot. If any of you are indigenous and I’ve said something incorrect or offensive, please let me know and I will correct it.
Anyway sorry this got long but yeah. Yeah, I’m always gonna be on the side of people on this one. Eat meat or don’t, I don’t care, but don’t treat it like it’s a moral failing of people to choose to consume animal products. I have a lot more opinions on the matter I could say but I’m gonna stop now because if you’re sending this into my inbox, I doubt you’ve read this long.

Consumer Perceptions and Price Sensitivity to Protein Bars
Tumblr media
In today's health-conscious world, protein bars have become a staple for many looking for a quick, nutritious snack that aligns with their dietary goals. As the market for these products expands, understanding consumer perceptions and price sensitivity to protein bars is crucial for manufacturers and retailers aiming to capture and retain customers. The keyword "Protein Bar Price" plays a significant role in how these items are positioned and perceived in the competitive snack market.
Consumer Perceptions of Protein Bars
Protein bars are often marketed as a healthy alternative to traditional snacks. They are praised for their convenience, nutritional benefits, and the ability to provide sustained energy. However, consumer perceptions of these products vary widely depending on several factors, including taste, ingredient quality, nutritional content, and brand reputation. For health-focused individuals, the appeal of a protein bar might lie in its protein content and the absence of artificial additives. For others, factors like taste and convenience take precedence.
The perceived health benefits significantly influence the purchasing decision. Many consumers are willing to pay a premium for protein bars that are organic, non-GMO, or free from artificial ingredients. This shift towards health-conscious consumption has led to a proliferation of brands that highlight the quality and source of their ingredients, aligning with the clean eating trends that dominate consumer preferences.
Impact of Protein Bar Price on Consumer Choice
The price of protein bars can vary dramatically from one brand to another, influenced by factors such as ingredient quality, manufacturing processes, brand positioning, and marketing strategies. Price acts as both a qualifier and a barrier in the purchasing process. Consumers tend to associate higher prices with superior quality, especially when it comes to food products that promise health benefits. However, there is a threshold to this price-quality correlation. When the "Protein Bar Price" exceeds this threshold, consumers might turn to more affordable alternatives, especially if they consume these bars regularly.
The price sensitivity of consumers towards protein bars is also shaped by the frequency of consumption and the perceived value of the product. For example, individuals who consume protein bars daily as part of their dietary routine are more likely to be sensitive to price changes, looking for cost-effective options without compromising on quality. In contrast, those who consume them occasionally as a treat might be less price-sensitive.
Market Trends Influencing Protein Bar Price
Economic factors also play a critical role in shaping the pricing strategies of protein bars. Fluctuations in the price of raw materials, such as nuts, whey protein, or organic ingredients, can significantly impact the cost of production. Additionally, changes in consumer behavior, such as increased demand for vegan or plant-based products, push brands to innovate with new ingredients, which may also affect pricing.
Moreover, the retail environment influences the "Protein Bar Price." Protein bars sold in gyms or health clubs often carry a higher price tag due to the targeted demographic’s willingness to invest in health and wellness products. Conversely, those found in supermarkets or online platforms might be priced more competitively to attract a broader consumer base.
Strategies for Brands
To effectively address consumer price sensitivity, brands need to employ strategic pricing models that resonate with their target audience while maintaining profitability. Offering discounts, promotions, and loyalty programs can attract price-sensitive consumers and encourage bulk purchases. Additionally, transparent communication about the benefits and quality of ingredients can justify a higher price point, aligning with consumer expectations for value.
Conclusion
Understanding consumer perceptions and price sensitivity is crucial for brands competing in the protein bar market. The "Protein Bar Price" not only affects consumer choice but also reflects broader market trends and economic conditions. By strategically aligning price with consumer expectations and market demands, brands can enhance customer loyalty, increase market share, and sustain profitability in the evolving landscape of health-oriented snack foods.

Heyyy! I just wanted to hop on the post you made about the vegan things (absolutely no hate btw it’s just really interesting!)
I think despite the fact that a lot of products might not have animal products in them, things like cleaner/makeup and such can still be tested on animals so it’s not all to do with the meat side of things… I mean apparently some toilet rolls have gelatine in them, which is kinda crazy 😅
I eat/drink a lot of plant based things due to allergies but I’m not vegan because I literally wouldn’t be able to eat anything if I was lol 🤣But I do think it’s a really good thing, especially for the environment! And it’s great to see more and more plant based products that are not just food related hit the shelves for sure… I do draw the line at the whole “if you’re not vegan this” or “if you don’t eat meat that” kinda thing though… we’re entitled to our own opinions after all and some folk physically/financially just can’t sustain it or it’s just a case of personal preference on both sides <3
Hey, nonnie!
No hate from my end either!! That was a throwaway post with throwaway tags and I wasn't expecting anyone to read it😂 that's true, but generally speaking most products which don't test on animals are marketed as "cruelty free" or "not tested on animals", at least here in the UK they are. I can't speak for other countries but here typically they've always been marketed as not vegan specifically, but "animal friendly". For me, it goes a bit too far when these labels are removed and it's just "plant based X"... So is it made of plant materials AND tested on animals? Is it cruelty free? There's a definite trend of removing these specifications and marketing toilet paper as plant based seems a bit ridiculous to me because of course? Paper? Is plant based?🙃 I didn't know gelatine could be used in toilet paper!!! Can't say I'm surprised though.😬
I understand on the allergy front🫂😭 gluten free and vegetarian and vegan are often looped together which actually isn't all that good for people like me with coeliacs disease because we're at risk of developing other food allergies like dairy if we don't maintain upkeep (if we're not already allergic, coeliacs disease comes with so many comorbid conditions and allergies that it's a total nightmare unless you watch yourself like a hawk for the rest of your life). So when I have to buy gluten free foods, it's almost always and annoyingly (for me) vegan. It's annoying not because I'm anti vegan (though that is also true) but because I then have to buy animal products - meat and dairy - to put on those foods to compensate. It's almost impossible to find a gluten free pizza with animal products on the top of it, as an example. And it makes my already expensive food even MORE expensive. This is where my irritation stems from because I'm then forced to buy vegan products and that makes me feel like I support veganism, when I 10000% don't. No hate to people who do, but it's not for me and I have to sometimes go against my own preferences and then spend more money to make my expensive food as I want it - to contain plenty of meat and other animal products. All of my meals include animal products. ALL of them.💖
I'm very anti vegan, I won't lie, and I know it's an incredibly nuanced and detailed discussion which I'm not all that prepared for BUT I'm happy to discuss it further with you😭I agree, we're all entitled to opinions and preferences and I support people in what they wanna do with their own bodies, but I draw the same lines you do!!! It's fine if person A is a vegan but if person A then gets rude to person B about the fact they eat meat, THAT'S when I have a problem. I view religion in the same way. It's fine if you are, but please don't try to get me to live as you do.

MAURIZIO, 1981
Tumblr media
[cis male he/him] Welcome to Aurora Bay, [JOSEPH MAURIZIO ALLIEGRO]! I couldn’t help but notice you look an awful lot like [CHRIS EVANS]. You must be the [FORTY-ONE] year old [FIREFIGHTER AND FORMER MARINE]. Word is you’re [LOYAL] but can also be a bit [UPTIGHT] and your favorite song is [GOODBYE YELLOW BRICK ROAD BY ELTON JOHN]. I also heard you’ll be staying in [SEABROOK DRIVER]. I’m sure you’ll love it!
“I did not ask for the things I’ve been through. And I certainly didn’t ask my mind to paint and repaint the pictures back in flashback form.” – Michelle Groth.
INTRODUCION
After years of serving as a Marine in the extensive war waged by the state against Iraq, Joseph returned home with physical and emotional scars. Following his therapist's recommendation to distance himself from the base in North Carolina, he relocated to the small seaside town of Aurora Bay in an attempt to start anew. The city exuded tranquility and peace, leading John to believe it would be the ideal place to heal. However, he soon discovered that life in the city was not as simple as it appeared.
Alliegro found himself grappling with his own inner demons while trying to adapt to a new life in an unfamiliar environment.
Although he attempted to avoid becoming entangled in the town's affairs, his restless heart compelled him to offer aid to those in need. Consequently, he joined the fire department, recognizing that his military training would prove most beneficial in this role.
At the Aurora Bay Fire Department, Joseph discovered a new way to serve his community. He applied his experience as a Marine to confront emergency situations and assist individuals in distress. The adrenaline rush and sense of purpose he derived from participating in rescue operations provided a measure of relief for his internal anguish.
Over time, Joseph forged connections with his fellow firefighters at the department. They shared personal narratives and offered mutual support during challenging times. This tight-knit team became Joseph's newfound family, fostering a sense of belonging that had eluded him for a long time.
Tumblr media
PYSHICAL TRAITS:
Standing in 6'3, with blue eyes and hazel hair, he usually keeps his hair short due to his military background, but is now trying to keep it longer. Not sure if it actually fits him.
He has scars all around his body, mostly in his arms and shoulders. While in rescue missions in the sea, there was every creature touching him. But it wasn't everyone who was friendly
Alliegro has some bad hearing in his right ear, but not enough to use a hearing-aid (at least he likes to lie to himself about it).
PERSONALITY TRAITS:
He loves diving and surfing, but only in warm waters! Aurora Bay was chosen also for this reason. Once it gets too cold, his body freezes. Nothing can move properly.
Joseph is a vegan! He stopped eating meat after a little girl that he had rescued showed him how important animals are in her culture. He stopped to hunt as a sport as well. And every time that he goes fishing, he gives them back almost immediately. It's the peace that counts.
Joseph enjoys all kinds of sports, but since he was born, soccer was his favorite. He made it to the little league, just like in baseball. His father, an Italian immigrant, was prouder than ever.
He has a dream of being a father. Even if he believes that he would be awful at it.
Joseph is an ENTJ / 1w2. He is a Gemini, with Sagittarius Rising and Scorpio Moon.
Wanted connections
The firefighter team: As it was stated, it was them who helped him throughout the journey of finding meaning to his life again.
A love interest: His rough past made him run away from love. Maybe Aurora Bay has been keeping his soulmate safe and sound. Who knows? He's a closed bisexual man. There was no place to explore that in the Marines.
Some found family: His away from his huge family, maybe some younger kid who he wants to protect just like his siblings would fit him just right.

Why Buy Shoes with Removable Heels?
Well for one -- who doesn’t want more options in their fashion?! But in all seriousness, it’s an incredible concept that has so many plus sides. Shoes with removable heels from Tanya Heath are becoming the next big thing in shoe fashion and there are so many reasons why.
Being in the fashion industry, I won’t lie, one of the biggest draws for us is the fact that you can buy a simple yet fashionable shoe and you can mix and match the heel to suit your outfit every day. You get so many options in just one shoe.
One, day you want the tried and true full black shoe and heel, then just click on a matte or patent black heel. The next day, you want to show something a little funkier, then spice it up with a full rainbow sparkle, or a patent red heel. The sky is the limit with the pairings you can create, and we couldn’t love this idea more. Who needs a mood ring when you have removable heels to match your mood!
Here are four reasons you’ll love shoes with removable heels from Tanya Heath Paris.
Shoes with removable heels are good for the environment
In addition to being a fashionable Swiss army knife, it’s also better for the environment to wear shoes with removable heels. You can still have the selection of shoes to cover every aspect of your daily life but without the need to have a separate pair of shoes for each.
Invest in a more quality pump, boot, and sandal, then use the ability to change the color and the height of your removable heels to cover everything you might need. You also have vegan options so you can enjoy the innovation, comfort, and beauty of these shoes while knowing that no harm was caused in the creation of your shoes.
No adding to consumerism and no carrying around 20 pairs of shoes in your car, or keeping a wardrobe at your office. You can do it all with an extra set of heels that fit right into your purse.
Shoes with removable heels save space
And let’s add that to the list too… you save space in your closet (wherever your closet might be since I know a lot of us keep extra shoes at the office!). When you only have to invest in a few great pairs of shoes with removable heels, then you save so much space and don’t have to worry that you bought this pair or that pair to go with a specific outfit.
They’re expertly made in Portugal and France
Did I mention that these shoes are made in Portugal, and the removable heels are made in France?
Not only can we say that our shoes are ethically made, but we know about the workers. We’ve spoken to Tanya Heath about them and heard about their lives and their backstories. In this current situation, we’ve even heard about how the COVID world has affected them personally. We are a very family-oriented business, and knowing about the individuals who handcraft these shoes is very important to us.
Save your feet with shoes with interchangeable heels
Of course, we saved the best for last. No more sore feet!
Our Tanya Heath shoes are amazing on their own. You’ll be pleasantly surprised that high-heeled shoes can be so comfortable. Being able to change out the removable heel on your shoes while you’re on the go will save your feet from the aches and pains of being in the same shoes all day and possibly all night too.
Say you can happily wear a couple-inch heel all day, but do you commute to work? It would be so much more comfortable to use your short Christophe heels to commute to work. Then on your way home, you have errands to run - back into the Christophe heel to give your feet a break after a full day in your Denis or Daniel removable heels. Or you don’t have time to go home in between a day at the office and that party you’re invited to. Throw a pair of Damien or Francois in your purse and you’re set to show off your sexy side.
If all of these reasons haven’t convinced you by now, then you’ll have to come try them for yourself. With a variety of pumps, sandals, and boots to try, plus so many heels, you’ll have trouble choosing.
Shop for shoes with removable heels now!
Head over to the eShop now to shop for shoes and removable heels from Tanya Heath Paris. Or, book an appointment with us to come to see the shoes with removable heels in person!
